Long live the original poster. This is a great find for the area. They had one of the best Goat curries i've had in a long time. Definitely soul food.

Not all that great. I have had much better in queens and Brooklyn. I guess the Bronx just doesn't know food food. Will not revisit. Service was good though, I give them that. That was the most polite Jamaican cook/cashier I have ever met. Too bad the oxtail was mediocre.

I came here the night before last because my friend and I were in the neighborhood, and I am so glad that we stopped in here! I didn't even know that I was hungry until we got into this place. We got here within an hour of closing, so the only thing they had left was stewed chicken, which was fine with us! We both ordered it because it looked so good. It came with steamed cabbage and rice and beans, which were equally as delicious. I was so happy to find this little neighborhood gem. I'd go out of my way just to eat this food. I definitely want to come back to try the roti and other menu items.

For me the food was just okay. The jerk chicken is really hot, and kind of takes away from the flavor of the actual seasonings. Next time, I will definitely ask for less gravy on top. I do like the fact that you get plantain and cabbage for no additional charge. The fritter cakes were very good, and for 3 for $1.00 I would come just for that. My husband and I also ordered a chicken patty, which looked perfectly cooked but had a taste of being burnt. The taste of the burnt party was hard to overcome and we couldn't finish it. I would give this place another chance to try other menu options and also to get the fritters!

If your a big hungry man then this is your spot. The jerk chicken fell OFF that bone AND its got that heat. The portions were pretty big, of course, you do have the option to get a small or even bigger plate. Packed plate of jerk chicken, rice and bean, corn bread and a ginger beer all for under 10 bucks! Who gives a deal like that anymore!

Not impressed. For $8.00, I got a very small container of Oxtails with a small sliver of cabbage. He didn't even give me a spoon. Too expensive for the portion given and not enough flavor. Seemed like I received old rice and more bone than meat. Not coming back!

Hi. I was so pleases to try there menu while doing jury duty near by (15 mnts walk). The first time , I try jerk..chicken. it was really good, spicy as should be. The rice was very flavorful. The corn bread was almost like desert. The second time, I did try goat , it was great as well. But i will still prefer the jerk chicken. I was hoping for more selection of vegetable to add to the meat. The beef and chicken patties was not store made. this is real Jamaican restaurant, ... And I will love to eat there again.

Another Bronx tale !! A hidden treasure somewhere in the mighty Bronx Long life to the first guy who put this page on yelp Place is AUTHENTIC !!! Granny at the steering wheel so you know what you expect !! IF you don't like "rustic" places in a neighborhood, and "paranoid" about your safety cause is the Bronx so forget about this place and stay in your hole and in your little brain The street is ALIVE, true Bronx street both corners have "bodegas" right out front a fruits and vegetables ambulant vendor !! Got inside, saw the granny, smelled the essences, the kitchen door was open, I slipped in,without any stress the Jamaican granny told me in a pure sweet Patoi what I want to eat ? I replied her a curry goat and a jerk chicken, went classic to see what is all about Those 2 dishes are the pillar of the Jamaican cuisine, so if you cook them bad means all what you cook is bad My hang out at the kitchen door was natural and no kind of stress and picky personnel at all, a true social experience how is been since the world is world and sadly how is disappearing nowadays Granny felt for my charm !! Ha ha ha asking me where I was coming from and how I know Jamaican cuisine,I told her that I know very good her country and listed some nice places and some ital foods, granny was delighted, the other cooks were smiling looking at me and ask me all type of questions Granny gave me huge portions really massive as they daily serve, the jerky poultry and the goaty green lava were PERFEEEEECT !!! Super tasty, you feel experience and LOVE in what they cook,TRUE SLOW FOOD !! As all the time when I eat something good, I say to myself: what should be if the same person cooks it in the homeland with the real and natural ingredients ? This is a question that you have to ask yourself automatically if you know what taste is Granny gave me 2 corn breads included with the pack I said granny I will come back and I want food made by your hands She said come back son and I will always here for you I left the restaurant happy and with that good feeling that you had a good and normal chat with normal people And forgot for a minute the plastic world that surround us I EXPLODED the 2 dishes, at the same time,in my car parked few meters away from the restaurant Didn't finish them, I was only jumping from here to there, mixing all in my mouth and greeting this place I ended taking a nap in my backseats, and the cold woke me up !!

Woot, first 5 star given to my new hood in the Bronx. THE BEST jamaican food I've had. Came here with a group of starving friends, so we ordered a bunch of different platters to share, all were phenomenal but they can be broken down and ranked... #Stewed chicken--my fav #Curry chicken--second place #Oxtail---good as always but falls short of the stewed meats above #Jerk chicken--surprisingly everyone's least favorite, although I would get this anyday I've not having the above meats HEAPING portions, most ppl will be satisfied with the small, large will most definitely be 2 meals. Avoid the mac and cheese, stick with jamaican dishes. Overall: THE BEST, I will be back to try the goat and fish curries.

Best Jamaican food in the city. Thankfully the location is far too ghetto for the place to be swarmed by yelpers.

Food is on point. Grew up with Jamaicans n the food here is as authentic as possible. When visiting my grandmother, I always get food, even if I'm not hungry. Gf RAVES about the curry goat. It is fall of the bone n full of flavor. I go either stew or bbq chicken with rice n peas n slaw, yum.

Nestled just past 167 ST, this place is Great for Jamaican spicy food. Tried the Oxtails, which were all tender pieces of meat. Ordered the Curried Goat, and that too was tender and spicy, can taste the scotchie peppers. Rice and Peas is great, and the salad was delicious. New Spot in the Bronx for me, for sure.

My wife and I have tried almost every Jamaican Restaurant here in the Bronx and not for nothing... this is where I found the best jerk chicken. Mac & cheese is awesome... Spicy enough to burn your palate but the chicken is juicy and tender you just can't put it down!! The place is small but they attend to you quickly and they're friendly.. check it out you wont regret!!!
