By far my favorite burger place! Burger patties weren't too thick however it was a lot of bread for me. I had a bacon cheeseburger and the taste was phenomenal. Bacon was so good. Also had the pulled pork sliders. Wish they had a little more pork in there but they had great cole slaw in them. It gave it a great taste and new spin on a pulled pork. Get the mozzarella planks! They were a little pricey for only 4 but so worth it. Finally, for dessert, we had the Cookie Monster. It was a soft, gooey chocolate chip cookie that just came out of the oven. It was brought out in a hot cast iron skillet topped with whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The dessert really completed the night. Definitely going back soon

Before there was Applebee's, before TGI Fridays there was the barefoot peddler. THIS OLD DINOSAUR ROARS ON ! Serving up great food, in a great atmosphere, with great service, and an great bar scene. No flair here boys and girls. You will find great and constantly updated American traditional good at a good price. This place has been around when my baby boomer parents used to go to nearby CW post. It's apparently still just as popular and has lost none of its character. The menu is always fresh, and evolving. The place is always clean and fun. You can sit in a booth shaped like a barrel for gods sake. Come on. Actually I have to admit, I often just go here bc I want to talk to someone privately, and calm down in one of these barrels with an alcoholic beverage. This place has all sorts of different specials on different days so it's worth it to give it a try sometime, even in the middle of the week. Also if your single it's one of the only options in town ; )

I have been coming here for over 10 years and have always enjoyed the food. It can get crowded for dinner and at the bar area, so I suggest making a reservation for a large party. At my most recent visit, they did accommodate our large group the best they could without a reservation, so I give them credit for that. After dinner we found a spot at the bar (somehow! it was packed by then!) and the bartenders were great even with the large crowd to cater to.

This place is fantastic!!! Burgers and wings are among the best I've ever had. If you have the room the warm Nutela Bread Pudding with ice cream is a must !

My husband and I stopped in for dinner. We were seated promptly. Our waiter was attentive. I was impressed with how clean the dining area was. I mean seriously clean. We ordered buffalo chicken flatbread pizza as an appetizer, it was absolutely delicious. I had ordered the steak sandwich, cooked medium. It was served still purple, not edible to my taste. My husband shared his cheeseburger with me, it was tasteless, so neither of us finished our half. The fries were very good though. I won't be won't be going back.

Unless you have hours to wait for service I wouldn't recommend coming here. Stop in for lunch earlier today sat at the table for 20 minutes and waiter never came to take our order. We got up and we left. No waiter, no manager, only a poor busboy running around trying to clear tables and get people water well making excuses for the non-existent waiter.

Service sucks, bartender was rude and happy hour on Tuesday listed on the website is not true..

Grab drinks and not the food. This is a watering hole and that's it. Food is nothing special. ..

Have been going there for several years and am seeing a decline in the service and the food. Was there today, with 4 other regulars, and it was just a horrible experience. Took longer than usual to bring the food and half the order was wrong. May give them another chance.

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. My friend and I came in on a Monday night (which I understand is not a popular or busy night), but were looking for some late night food and drinks. Our server comes over and is very aloof. He gives me a drink that tasted nothing like what I ordered. When I called this to his attention, he preceded to fight with me about it saying, "I watched him make it but okay I'll get you an extra shot." Hmm okay thanks. Then our appetizers came out and it was clear he screwed this up too as we got two of the same thing for our appetizer. He kept saying how we would get his manager to void it - ummm YEAH YOU WILL because you're the one who screwed it up? Veggie burger was burnt and practically inedible. Never going back.

Food took forever to be brought to us. Our order was incorrect. I ordered chili which was completely tasteless and looked odd. Ordered a medium rare burger and received well done and dry. The curly fries and wings, however, were good. When I informed the waitress about not liking my chili, her response was "I'm not a chef. I didn't cook the food." Then when we addressed her attitude she attempted to shut us up by asking "do you want your burger wrapped?" when clearly we were still eating. The chef was sent over to speak to us and then offered us dessert yet again. There was NO manager on site. Completely dissatisfied and will not be returning ever again!!

So, my fiancé and I were new to the area and we went to Barefoot Peddler about 4 months ago. I had the Mac and cheese burger and it was to die for! He was so jealous of my meal, although his was delicious also. We went back today and to our disappointment, they changed the recipe of the Mac and cheese burger without changing the menu or warning us (new chef we were told). Not only was it not what we expected (instead of delicious gooey Mac and cheese and bacon on top of a burger with a perfectly toasted bun, we got crispy and oily fried Mac and cheese patties for buns that were dry and stringy and not even fresh on a regular burger). It was such a huge disappointment, and the manager did not even take the burgers off of our check until we complained to her a second time. We were so disappointed. As soon as I figure out how to add a picture, I will.

Don't bother, over priced food. That's fast-food quality at best. Overpriced drinks, loud, not enough staff. I have no idea how this place is still in business at all. Skip it.

My family and I live 2 minutes away from the barefoot peddler and it's the only local pub. We've been going there for many years and the service have continuously gotten worse even with the switch of new management. Even though the service was bad, we would still go because it is local. Just recently we went and the service was HORRENDOUS!! WE WERE WAITING FOR 20 MINUTES WATCHING OUR SERVER WALKED PAST US! We asked to the hostess 4 times to get us a server and they never came to our table. Then the people next to us told us they were waiting for 30 minutes for a server. We were so angry that walked out. I've never been to a restaurant that had such horrible service. I wish I was could give this restaurant 0 stars!!!

Usually come here in lunch break with friends for a quick drink and food. Thursday's are usually great with the bartender Ben who is always nice to talk with and very hospitable. However, today Ben was not there yet replaced by this awful older woman who would not tell us her name. She told us she cannot serve alcohol until 12 because that's the law.. Um it's a Thursday.. And we have been having drinks there since 11 am for months now! She then proceeds to ignore us for 30 mins. When asked if we can get served she said only if you sit at one if the service tables. This is outrageous! I know that she could have served us and put the two beers that were requested on a tab that was for one of the empty tables. When I asked her why we need to move she cut me off and told me she has no time for this! I then wait a few minutes and asked her what thought customer service meant! Obviously she has no idea! She asked me why my voice was raised..... I proceeded to tell her that it was because of her professionalism... She then spewed out the mangers name... I believe she said lee.... I'm not to certain. since there was no manager or anyone of authority to rectify this situation I am hoping that they read this and think of things from a customers prospective... Very unhappy with today......

This is a nice local bar with pretty good food and a diverse menu. I like their sandwiches/burgers and appetizers. Service has always been friendly and pleasant. The booths are roomy and everything seems clean.

Been passing this restaurant for 6 years now as I drive by and always wanted to go in. Pretty much disappointed . Went last night. The main complaint is the prices are ridiculous!!!!! Out of control.... All entrees are no less than $21.... That is outrageous for a bar... Appetisers pretty much nothing under $12... French fries for $7???? What????? The sliders were amazing but could have seriously come with fries on the plate... The wings were sub standard, no celery it carrots , much better at Applebee's which has half price on all it's apps with a better atmosphere. I was shocked I was actually able to get draft beer for $3 in this location in Greenvale in which I guess they feel like they can charge super high prices. At first the barmaid told me they don't have bud on tap... I figured they were gonna pull the "we're not the kind of place that serves Budweiser" sort of thing but they actually had miller.... The location is great and place is cute but that's about it , once is enough , avoid after that!

One of the best and biggest burgers I have had in a long time. Comfortable booths and casual atmosphere.

Great selection of excellent bar food. Very good selection of beers on tap. Sometimes it's crowded and sometimes it's pretty empty. The service is excellent. Everyone is always very friendly and getting seated at one of their awesome barrel booths is never a problem. Parking lot adjacent to bar on Glen Cove Road can be full sometimes. Will continue to come back here!

I came here today for lunch with my cousin, who recommended the place. And even she thought it was horrible. The chicken tidbits she had recommended and ordered that day were completely different from what she was used to she had said. Immediately she could tell that the fries were different and wasn't happy. Then, her chicken was more of a compounded and compressed mixture of chicken parts made to look like a chicken breast, rather than an actual chicken breast. We also ordered the first special on their specials menu, paraphrasing here... but it was something like buffalo spiced burger with cheddar and candied chipotle bacon... the gist and main reason for getting this burger was that it was a spicy burger with spicy bacon & candied too. yum, right? wrong! Imagine my surprise when it wasn't spicy. AT ALL!!! And I couldn't even get hot sauce because the hostess slash waitress was no where in sight. I'm not even sure it was her fault. Perhaps, more staff? So, this burger ended up tasting like a regular, boring burger.. bland. And that would have been ok if that's what I ordered, but for $16, during lunch hours, it was a severely overpriced gimmick to waste customers' money. Bummer, because however they described it sounded really yummy... especially the spicy candied bacon part, which ended up being just plain ole bacon. Whoopty doo...

stopped in the other day because a friend of mine bar tends there. its amazing how the owner has let a once legendary place run to the ground its a shame because the staff really tries the bartenders and the manager seem like they are handcuffed by an owner who doesn't care....

Dang! I miss those smoked gouda mac and cheese fritters - those were CRAZY tasty. However, the burgers are always solid, grilled chicken caesar salad (served with the chicken on skewers) is also on point and it's the only place in recent memory that gets roast beef au jus just right! Tender roast beef, not too thick, just a little mozzarella and the actual juice from the cooked beef - not some lame Quiznos-esque gravy. The fries are always a treat (sweet and curly both good as well, but just their regular fries are very good). Definitely like to stop in whenever I'm hungry and in the area.

The bartenders are amazing! Such friendly guys and they always remember who you are. They recently been having a DJ Fridays and Saturday nights which helps bring in a vary of age groups. Barefoot is a great place to hang with friends and just have a fun low key night

food's really good, but definitely over priced for what it is. also has a terrible parking lot.

  • Tracy K.

Everyone that passes this place should stop in.. it's cute, and has a super pubby feel with dark wood barrels for booths on the restaurant side of the bar/restaurant. Stick to pub fare choices... and you will be ok. Appetizers should be similar.. wings, potato skins, draft beer, sure you can order a salad etc.. nothing bad here. It's perfect for college students - their type of food! haha. What is nice is that it is not too bright and has a kick back casual vibe. Not good for a romantic dinner.. more for a fun bite.

Cozy place have been here twice. First time I sat at the bar and got ahi tuna appetizer which was delicious !! The second time I went with some friends and sat in the dining area. The wait staff were very nice and the food was good. The bar tender was great- very friendly ! Overall great place

I was pleasantly surprised with this bar. I was expecting mediocre food but what I got was great wings and an even better burger ( in and out). I'll be coming back for sure!!

  • Steven V.

Been there three times. First time I went, the beer I ordered which was on their menu -the keg was finished (ok, I can understand). Second time I went, the service was poor and waited way too long to be served and it was obvious someone was smoking in the kitchen because the smell of cigarette smoke passed along into the dining area. Third time I went, they were again out of stock with the beer I ordered. So, I've been there three times and won't be going again.

Barefoot Peddler is a fairly spacious pub with ample seating and a wide array of drinks, especially when it comes to beer. The staff is for the most part very helpful and the log cabin-esque feel really gives the place a calm relaxed vibe. The food selection is your standard pub fare although the burgers are definitely above that of your average pub, with the inside out burger being my favorite! Most of the other items don't stand out though and are only average. Some of the appetizers are very skimpy with the portions considering the high prices they charge for them. It's a great place to go with friends if you just want to kick back and have a nice drink. You could do far worse than Barefoot Peddler.

  • Caitlin N.

I really like this place. It's a very cozy bar/restaurant that I really enjoy. Some of the items are a little pricey, but you can always find a deal with the burger and beer Tuesday nights. There usually is enough food to bring home for a second meal in the sandwiches or burgers too. Definitely a place to stop in!

Their inside out burger is delicious as well as their loaded fries, their nachos, their french dip, and a lot of other things. They're the best bar in the area.

Went here the other day for the first time with my wife, we both ordered the inside out burger, it was good! along with the onion rings and cold beers. there was not much not to like, we enjoyed the meal. Service was attentive and good, i would go back.

Barefoot is a neat bar/restaurant.The fried pickles with horseradish sauce are excellent, and the grilled chicken/pesto wrap is delicious. The service is good and the manager always asks how everything is. It is a little pricey but worth it for the food, drink selections and atmosphere.

Very fun Irish pub/ sports bar on the north shore of Long Island where these are not dime a dozen (I'm spoiled living in NYC). $3 bud lights during the NFL playoffs. Very friendly bartenders and a quickpicks lotto machine which makes for some fun times. I will definitely stop by the barefoot peddler next time I am in the neighborhood.

I have lived around the corner from this place and after 6 years finally stopped in for dinner. Not bad! I usually stay away from pub food places where mostly everything comes out of a bag frozen. This was a step up, must be the neighborhood. Burgers and soups and beer for dinner, Everything was fresh. Very nice selection of beers on tap, the burger was juicy and fresh. definitely going to stop in more often.

Located just north of Northern Blvd., the Barefoot Peddler is one of the only bars in this area of the North Shore. The awkwardly shaped buildings leave bar patrons with extremely limited parking (the bar doesn't even seem to have its own parking lot - unless I missed it). The shopping center to the north of the Barefoot appears to have waged parking war with the bar and installed big posters warning that they will call the cops if we park there. Doesn't make too much sense since it was after 9pm and all those stores were closed. So those business owners are just a bunch of lunatics. After finally finding some acceptable parking, I walked into the Barefoot and found a traditional bar to the left and a restaurant to the right. I was there for Thursday night football and was happy to belly up to the bar. The special was half off wings. Great deal. I ordered the honey BBQ wings and they were absolutely delicious. Huge wings and the sauce was great. My chick ordered the steamed dumplings, which I tasted and did not particularly care for. I drank reasonably priced beer that was super cold and served quick. Bathroom is through the restaurant and down a flight of stairs. Not sure how the diners appreciate the parade of drunks but it didn't impact me (I was at the bar). Overall its a great bar with some very tasty wings.

Sound level was overly loud. Service was slow. After ordering drinks and dinner we asked for a bread basket and were told that " we don't give you bread...this is a pub....if you want bread there will be a $2 charge. Food was mediocre.we will not be returning.

This is one of my regular places to go to lunch at with my coworkers. The french onion soup is good and sandwiches and wraps are not bad either. It is usually pretty quiet during lunch.

I like these guys. The wings and burgers are great, the beer selection is amazing and the staff is friendly and efficient. Other items on the menu are just ok though and seriously they have to learn how to pour a proper pint of Guinness. You just can't expect me to take you seriously if you do a one-pour in a Sam Adams tulip glass. Come on.

This place takes me back to my old Long Island roots. You can always run into a familiar face here, sitting at the bar downing a few beers. The food is decent, serving new specials every night. The place is cute, with large barrels as booths.

Casual dining and bar. Decent American food, but nothing spectacular. It's a burger joint more or less, but the atmosphere is cool to hang out in with friends for a bite.
