My waiter (Dom) was extremely helpful and handsome. He had beautiful eyes. Would come here again just to see Dom.

We try to eat organic and local foods when we can, so I love the idea of a farm to table restaurant. The setting is a beautiful lodge tucked away in the woods. We enjoyed the scenery and the food. Everything was good and a few dishes blew me away, including the tomato and fresh mozzarella salad. The servings are large, but try to save room for dessert.

We went here last year on my birthday and I think perhaps my expectations were a little high. When I hear farm to table, I get very excited about the possibilities but this was a bit of a let down. With that being said, we definitely want to go back and try it again. I think they were having an off night. First, let me say we made a reservation. We arrived a couple minutes ahead of the time reserved, which we didn't think would be a problem since there were a ton of tables open. But the hostess told us that it was going to be a few minute wait. Unfortunately, that few minutes turned into about 15. Normally I wouldn't mind, but the woman wasn't particularly nice about it, nor apologetic that despite making a reservation, we'd be waiting a bit. Anyway, moving past that. Elderberry Pond has a lovely wine menu. I was pleased to order a bottle of Bonterra Chardonnay which comes from an organic vineyard in central/northern California. Our appetizers were the star of the evening. We had crab cakes and the bruschetta. Both were very nicely made and quite tasty. The bread we had that evening I believe was from Patisserie, so it was yummy. Our entrees are where we felt let down. I got the local cut of strip steak and my husband got the shrimp and scallop pasta. Neither was something to write home about. My steak, while cooked medium rare on the inside had little to no sear and very little seasoning. I actually had to put salt on my steak which I never do. My husband's past was box pasta, not quite cooked well and a scampi style sauce that was very heavy on the butter, and light on flavor. We shared two desserts, the creme brulee and a lemon meringue pie which was a special I believe. They were both tasty as was the coffee. Our waitress was very pleasant and the right level of attentive. Again, I am excited to try it again as I think it is probably a great restaurant when all cylinders are firing.

I'm not big on fancy dining these days. I have learned that 90% of these establishments hide behind fancy decor and proper spoken staff but end up serving average meals that I could prepare at home. At Elderberry, I'm happy to pay the extra money. Their food matches their ambiance. Great tasting food and it doesn't get any better than farm fresh.

What a lovely spot! Elderberry Pond far exceeded my expectations. Located on farmland between Auburn and Skaneateles, the short drive is very pretty. And to think, I didn't even know it was there. The drink menu features only beer and wine, but local wines are a nice treat. We were greeted warmly in the lovely entryway and shown to our table on the sun porch looking out into the woods. Everything from the warm fresh-baked bread, super fresh mesclun salad and crab stuffed haddock was delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Check this place out!!!! I can't wait to go back in the fall

This is a beautiful set of rooms that are peaceful and homey--in the way that I would love my home to look: tastefully and artfully decorated. Others have commented on the food, which is often quite good, but we recently had an underwhelming experience there. We made reservations for a family birthday dinner. 3 of the family members have difficulty with dairy products, and when we asked that menu items be prepared without butter or cream, the server was at a loss. She returned to the kitchen a couple of times to ask about ingredients (thank you for that), but we all ended up frustrated because very little on the menu is prepared without butter, and much of it is prepared in advance. Ultimately, the answer was "no," most of their food cannot be prepared without some kind of dairy product. So... one person decided to suffer, and two others chose plain steak. A small salad substituted for the vegetables and starch that already had butter in them. So, in the end, we thought the meal was underwhelming, pricey for a small piece of meat and lettuce, and the kitchen flexibility was non-existent. It was not a busy night, so we failed to understand, in what we thought was an exceptional kitchen, why there were no appetizing non-dairy options. The back and forth with the kitchen became quite awkward by the third try, and put a damper on the evening. I wouldn't say don't go there, but If you have food sensitivities, I would advise calling ahead.

Attended a conference in this part of the state and this is where we went to dinner. What a great choice it was! This is a small gem of a restaurant in a rural setting that is picturesque and tranquil. The grounds were lovely in June when we were there. The decor is vintage and charming. This is a farm to table restaurant so the food is super fresh and delicious. Our group of approximately twenty or so took up most of the dining room. The service was great and everyone enjoyed every morsel they ate. If you haven't been, you really need to go. You won't be disappointed.

I'm going to say this as a former foodie. If you are serving plates that cost $$$, your waitstaff had better match that quality. I have visited this restaurant on two occasions, sadly neither time was the staff experienced or adequate. I feel cheated out of a "fine dinning" experience. All the $$$ Dine, without the Fine. A bit about the food. Very good. I love the model and support their mission of sustainable local food. Hmmm. Wouldn't local make it less $$$? Perhaps if the pale green peas weren't over cooked in my dish, I'd have seen it as fresher and more worth my $$$. Peas aside everything was well seasoned and tasted great. Side note: oddly enough I couldn't finish my linguine with summer vegetables dish so I took it home. It was boxed in a small take out container, 3x5" which I thought nothing of until I opened it. They had cut my linguini into .5" pieces. So weird I had to throw it out. Who wants overly handled food? In fairness I probably wouldn't have eaten it anyway. If you're up for a drive and want to say that you've been there, go there. Otherwise seek fine dining closer to home. That's green too.

This is one of those places that, unless you know someone who has been there, you would never know about. It's in between Skaneateles and Auburn on a road you would never drive on unless you were coming here. The theme of this restaurant is local and by that I mean they try to source everything they make right on the farm where the restaurant sits. So from the potatoes to the steaks, everything they can they grow and raise steps from the kitchen. It's a nice model that I'm happy to support. Because it's in the middle of nowhere, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. We sat in a nice dining room with a view of the wilderness outside. The sun was shining bright which made for quite a view. The inside gives off that country feeling with a lot of exposed wood. Really very nice. The food I thought was OK. Started out with some crab cakes over greens. Mehh. No discernible pieces of crab which was disappointing, but we are in upstate NY after all. I had a lamb chop entree with black bean salsa, smashed potatoes, and vegetable medley. The lamb chops were good. I did really like their potatoes and vegetables. Both tasted super fresh. Overall it was a decent meal. Not spectacular, but decent. One thing I will say is that for a fine dining establishment, they give you a ton of food. My lamb chop dish was actually two lamb chops and quite a lot of potatoes. I did not leave hungry. But they also filled me up to the point where we didn't have room for dessert, which was disappointing because their desserts sounded pretty good. Not a bad place to check out if you like to support local. I don't think it's the best meal you'll ever have, but it certainly won't be the worst. And the atmosphere is good enough where you won't have a bad time.

One of the BEST places to eat. Lunch or dinner. Please save room for one of their home made treats at the end of the meal. You will want to return again and again. Best tasting Hamburger ever! Dinner selections of Duck Breast or Halibut were mouth watering, this by far is the best kept secret in Central New York.

Our absolute favorite spot! Just a beautiful setting in the woods with delicious organically grown veggies right on their farm! Wait staff is friendly and food is awesome! Fresh and healthful! Wines and beers are only alcoholic options but very nice selection. Romantic and worth the drive!

Second trip to the restaurant. And we weren't disappointed. It was kind of a going away dinner for a friend who is retiring to Virginia. We wanted a special place with quality food and a comfortable dining atmosphere. The Elderberry has both. Their emphasis on the use of local produce is evidenced in their menu - with offerings in most food categories - fish, meat, pasta and vegetarian - the menu is limited. We started the dinner with a bottle of beaujolais and the bruschetta appetizer to share. Not the typical bruschetta though - a ricotta cheese with herb flavoring on the crostini. Perfect. Our entree's spanned the spectrum of the menu - our guest had the shrimp scallop pasta with local shard, another had the duck (her second time at the restaurant and she can't get enough of it) with its local cherry reduction sauce, while I had the local beef offering, a brisket in a dark, light sauce. Service matched the quality of the food - offering the time needed to settle after the hour drive to the restaurant - this is really set amongst the cornfields and orchards of central New York. He knew the food and the way it was prepared. Thanks Raymond. A stellar dining experience on a farm west of Skaneateles and east of Auburn.

We went to Elderberry Pond last night to celebrate our birthdays, and had one of the most memorable dining experiences ever. I adore this place! The location is beautiful. It is in the middle of nowhere, and very secluded. The gravel road leading up to the restaurant was beautifully lit. The decore inside was very simple, yet elegant. We sat in the sun room over looking a field. It was so pretty! The service could not have possibly been any better. The food was amazing. The garlic & brie bruschetta was delicious, and I look forward to having that again when we return. I had haddock, and my boyfriend had the angus beef - both were perfect. It came with italian green beans, and mashed potatoes. The portions were very generous, but not too much. I don't like restaurants that pride themselves on giving huge portions. I much rather prefer quality over quantity. We also had 2 seasonal desserts that were the perfect end to our wonderful meal. Elderberry Pond will be at the top of our list for special occasions from now on. Love this place!

Elderberry Pond offers a wonderful menu of fine cuisine in a beautiful rustic setting. The food was very fresh and hyper-local. Everything was seasoned and dressed perfectly. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating.

I visited Elderberry Pond awhile back and I've been dying to return! This THE place to go if you want fresh, seasonal, and delicious food that is as local as it gets, since the restaurant itself is situated beside their farm. I still remember how simple, yet beautiful the salad I had was. Plug the address into your GPS because it is a bit off the beaten path, but, as a another recent reviewer suggested, it is absolutely worth the drive.
