The staff is so welcoming!! Went for lunch after a long night of wine and fun, wanted comfort food...Everything was DELICIOUS! Awesome artwork of Puerto Rico... I hadn't been in a few years and it is just as I remember.. Lovely ! Wish I didn't live an hour away or they'd see me every day for lunch!

Can't get real Puerto Rican food in this area! This is the real stuff and worth the trip. Food is fresh, seasoned well, and plentiful! Nice touches like traditional beverages and desserts! Best alcapurrias!

The best homestyle Puerto Rican food in Orange County. I've been here with my family three or four times and the food is always DELICIOUS and AUTHENTIC! I don't visit as often as I'd like because it is fried and greasy but that's what makes it Cuchifrito. The decor is simple and small but the service is great . Reminds me of the Cuchifrito's I grew up going to in The Bronx

Small little restaurant that serves really good authentic Puerto Rican dishes. Big portions & good prices. Had arroz con gandules (yellow rice w/ pigeon peas) with chuletas (pork chops) and maduros (fried sweet plantains). Delicious!

I love this spot!!!! The food is delicious! I've gone several times and picked up to go (location is very small but cozy). Their alcapurrias taste just how my grandma would make them! Their arroz con gandules is also always fresh as well as their meats! If I am in the mood for Latin food in OC, this is the place to go!!!

What can I say, it's like finding a gold mine. Spanish food in the Hudson Valley! Oh yes. One of my favorite places. Food is good enough to rival some places down in the big city.

I happened to be in Middletown Christmas shopping when me and my lady got hungry. Out of all the yelp possibilities, Spanish food quickly became our desired lunch meal. The food was fantastic, we had delicious stuffed potatoes, pernil, yellow rice with pigeon peas, and sweet fried plantains. The meal was outstanding! The owner obvious takes great pride in what he serves. The only only question remaining is, "when can we get back to get more?"

I've gotten a bunch of different things here, all of them were good. The sweet bananas that come with the meal are awesome, their pernil is awesome, the mashed potato balls with meat in them (rellenos de papa) AWESOME. The food is a bit greasy, but in a good way. Service is super friendly. One night we went with a big group and they only had limited food left, so they shut down the restaurant and served us an assortment of whatever they had left, and it was all good. They also have an assortment of tropical sodas to choose from, and flavored ices for desert. I'm guilty of driving almost an hour just to get dinner here, and despite ALL of the restaurants in Middletown I always beg my wife to go here when we are in the area.

Wow really good. I got the chicken stew and it was great. Delicious potatoes, chicken on the bone, yellow rice with olives, and these fried bananas. Jackpot. You can see them cooking in the back which is fun. It's a little tight space wise so if that's a problem you can get your meal to go. They have a cooler for drinks which has Goya products, water and juices and Gatorade. Give them a try!

CUCHIFRITO!!!! PRO: Another Puerto Rican restaurant in the Hudson Valley that has great food at great prices. The Pernil w/ Yellow Rice & Beans were on point. I was so high off it, I was going to sell my Camry on the street and take the money to buy beans. I was going to mash the beans, buy a kit and shoot the liquid in my veins but I hate needles. *I'm really f*cked up - I REALLY hate needles yet I give blood regularly since 1993...watch your back around me...I'm CRAZY MAN!!!! CON: They're in Middletown and I live over an hour away. This will not be a regular spot to visit. Hell no...my ass is not going to Middletown for a Nuyurican Fix. 87 octane is expensive bitch!

This place is for real, fantastic Puerto Rican food. Doesn't have much for looks and only a few tables, but the food is excellent. Julio (i think that's the owner's name) is a great guy and knows his business. I highly recommed the Pernil (roast pork) with yellow rice. Just to comment on the previous post, as far as the greasy food, it is what it is. If you are looking for health food you are in the wrong place!

I tried them at the Garlic Festival in Saugerties and I was THRILLED to see how good it was. The alcapurrias were huge and delicious and not greasy! I wish they were in Saugerties every day!! I miss the authentic PR food that I grew up with in the Bronx and no one around here even knows what Cuchifrito is so of course when I saw that stand at the festival I RAN to it!! :) I wish I was closer to Middletown, but if I'm ever in that direction, I'll be sure to stop in!!

Authentic Puerto Rican. Just like my family makes. I had the pernil, white rice and beans and sweet plantains. The pork was a little dry but the beans had incredible flavor. So delicious.

Terrible. Abrupt service. The food was very greasy. There are better options in Middletown for Latin food.

If you're looking for homestyle Latino/Puerto Rican cuisine in the heart of Middletown, look no further. This small restaurant sports excellent homemade Puerto Rican cuisine as good as any of my 2 Puerto Rican ex's mothers'. :) There's no ambiance to speak of, so feel free to get it delivered, take out or eat-in.
