I am from Texas and I so miss the Mexican bakeries from back home. When I walked in, was really taken back at how many pastry pans they have in this little quaint place. I wasn't sure if I had walked into the back or the front...or was on huge wrong side of the register. Cakes and pastries racks are everywhere. There are rows upon rows of sweet rolls, cakes, cookies, everything! It is self serve. You grab a tray and gaze at the assortment of every bit of baked good under the sun! Everything is so cheap, you really can go to town trying a little bit of everything. I highly suggest you do. It's all excellent. The people who own It are super friendly and the whole atmosphere is very authentic , warm, friendly, inviting..just homey...like you walked into a true family ran kitchen. This is now one of my regular stops after school.

I discovered this gem last week . They have the Best tamales outside of LA!! And only a $1.50 each! The cookies are amazing as well. They offer a variety of Mexican breads and sodas. The staff speaks limited English but there's a menu that you can point to, bring cash as its cash only. Takeout . Grab an extra cookie from the subway ride back home. So worth the trip!

This review is for their food, which is nothing short of home-cooked spectacular yummieness. We had their albondigas (little balls of ground beef cooked in a spicy tomato sauce), which came accompanied with delicious rice, beans and tortillas. We also had their tacos dorados de pollo (4 per order), which reminded me of my mom's -- so good!! Their tamale de mole is also excellent, as is their agua de tamarindo. They take some time getting the food to you once you order -- 10 min? -- but it's worth the wait. Nothing fancy, so keep your expectations in check ... but this is a great hole in wall place with good home-style cooking. I'll be coming here again, and can't wait to try the tostadas!

You normally go to a bakery to get the freshest breads and sweets, preferably fresh out the oven. But most Mexican bakeries also serve an assortment of antojitos, and this is no different here. Surprisingly the bread of the torta ($5) is not going to knock any socks off, since it is assumed to have been baked here, but the insides are tasty enough to satisfy. My version was breaded chicken (milanesa de pollo) and came with plenty of avocado and vegetables, and a thin base layer of beans. I knew I wanted to try more than that, so I had the second half of the large sandwich packed up to go and perused the menu again, which is on the wall behind the counter. I had a good chance to look around and inspect the environment while waiting between courses, and you have to love a place that has all the charm of an old barber shop. Come in the morning and the whole space is overrun by carts of trays holding fresh baked goods. There is a coffee pot for self-service for anyone interested, but it seemed not to be used very frequently. The only decorations were adorning the wall directly above a small counter used for eat-in service, a map of Mexico and a rendition of The Last Supper. When my order of three tostadas ($7) came, I was very excited by the nice looking plate, which would be quite a feat to finish. I love Mexican tripe, so that was my selection for this order. I was surprised at this version though, which was not crispy at all and I would not recommend for those squeamish of it. The soft, chewy tubes were super fresh and heaped on each tortilla quite generously. Once again, this is an order that is a whole meal. This panaderia is the perfect place to step in quickly and satisfy a craving of any kind.

Oooh, this place is great. We came here this afternoon after hearing about it from one of my coworkers, whose judgment on all things Mexican I trust. I've been on the lookout for areas in the New York area that have reliable tacquerias and related, so I was really excited to hear about this bakery, and next to Jackson Heights, this part of Spanish Harlem is on my list of good Mexican places. Mi Querido Mexico Lindo has a pretty good variety of Mexican pastries, such as sweet breads, doughnuts with fruit fillings, nut and raisin bread/cakes, and flaky pastries. We picked up four different types, and one of our favorites is this rectangle of crisp, flaky puff pastry. The conchas bread was really dry, but it had a nice, subtle sweetness to it. The bakery is a self-serve place where you can grab tongs and pick what you like from the shelves of pastries and breads. In addition to pastries and breads, they also have drinks, desserts like flan and custards in their fridge, as well as cakes that you can order and buy. A sign on the back wall also indicated that you can buy tamales here, too, which is a little out of place, but kind of cool. We don't speak Spanish, but a young woman behind the counter was very happy to describe what their selections were and in general was really friendly. Definitely a nice place to go pick up some Mexican pastries if I'm back in the area. By the way, I would have given this place 4 stars, but the conchas was really dry, and I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be like that. So instead this place gets 3.5 stars in my book.
