My family and I went here based in the reviews. The decor was nice, if a little distracting from the waterfall sound. We got sesame chicken, good earth, and a veggie dish. The food was so-so, very fried and sweet.

Get take from there fairly often. The owner is very nice and place is always clean. Always good food. I like the various lo mein dishes, eggplant in garlic sauce, sesame chicken, vegetable dumplings. Tried the Curry chicken a few times. It has way too many onions so no more. Enjoy.

Chicken and Broccoli! Ok, this is a bit odd for me to review, as I havent eaten here in like, 15+ yrs. But I compare all Chicken and Broccoli to that of the Szechuan King. As a child I hated eating new foods. Then one day a friend practically forced me to split her order of Chicken and Broccoli with her. I loved it! I ended up eating here often and I dont think I ever ordered anything else. I have moved all over the country since then, and widened my palate alittle since then (though i'm still not exactly an adventurous eater). But no Chicken and Broccoli ever seems to compared to what I use to get from the Szechuan King.

My husband and I have ordered carry out food from Szechuan King three times in the last year and have been heartily disappointed every single time. The owners are very nice and the place is quite clean. The food is terrible. Perhaps we are spoiled from our trips to NYC's Chinatown over the past 30 years, as well as other Chinese restaurants all over the NYC Metro area, but I think this is not an unfair baseline. Saugerties has a lot of top notch restaurants, so it's not unfair to hold the local Chinese take-out restaurant to the same standards. Last night's meal was simply awful. We shared the wonton soup; the broth tasted a bit like dish water, altho' not much taste at all; the wontons were heavy and whatever was inside was unidentifiable. I couldn't down even one. My husband's pork and broccoli was not bad in terms of taste, altho' a bit too sweet, but very greasy w/ a watery broth. I ordered vegetable lo-mein. The very few vegetables were sliced paper thin, so calling this *vegetable* lo-mein is deceiving. It's plain lo-mein in some sort of unpleasant oily sauce. The noodles were heavy, greasy and not at all appetizing. We received extremely large portions, but since the food was so disappointing, we certainly weren't saving any of the left-overs. Three strikes and you're out.

Really awesome food, but don't take credit cards!! Best bet is cash, because they hold checks forEVER. Awesome food and service though, and they speak English well, which always impresses me.

Sitting on the NY Thruway in lots of traffic, we decided to look in the Saugerties area for Chinese Dinner. Only 5 minutes from exit. This is a great find in a sleepy little town. The wife had Sesame Chicken, I had Mongolian Beef. Both were very good. It was Sunday night and one of the waiters must have not come in. Thus the manager was the server running around but still did a good job. Priced reasonable also. PS. Decor is superb.

I've been frequenting this restaurant for the last 20+ years. Hosted by Kit Yam, they do a brisk takeout business and a light sit-down crowd at a storefront next to the main pickup area. Great decor and an old style parlor setting. They cook to taste and you can make requests for special menus. They have outlived many local Chinese places and the quality of the food for a little upstate NY town is first class. Very reasonable and good for the whole family. Whether it's a lunch special or a big takeout order, they are very quick to serve.

Fast, reasonably priced and ample portions. I get the Seafood Wor Bar and an order of steamed dumplings which feed two adults well. They do both takeout and sit-down service. This place never disappoints.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
