$2 tacos and $4 burritos and quesadillas?! Yes please! There are plenty of Fresh Tortillas around, and while they do their job just fine, New Taco Express stands out from the crowd. They've got super cheap and awesome Mexican food that'll fill you right up for next to nothing! To the naysayers who complain about the ghetto "decor," stick to delivery. The food will knock your socks off either way!

Check the pic. This much food for $6.75? In New York? And they take Amex? YES. Don't be fooled by this sketchy Asian Mexican place popped randomly into 28th. It's legit (says the Mexican guy that I came here with). The platter I got was delicious. Great steak, great chicken, guac, beans, rice ... and those fresh tortillas. YES. So many YES's on this place. I need to Neuralize myself for the summer otherwise I'll look like crap at the beach.

Okay pregnant, hard to please lady here - I LOVE their food and that's saying a lot because I hate everything right now. I accidentally got the grilled chicken fajita salad instead of the actual fajita but I was pleasantly surprised when I took a bite. It came in a hard flour shell loaded with grilled chicken, cheese, lettuce, peppers, sour cream, and salsa (I asked for guac and onions to be left out). Absolutely delicious. I wish the salsa was a bit thicker and they forgot the cheese for my nachos but that's really my only complaint. Delivery was fast and the delivery person was very nice.

Im a Survivor! fast, cheap, TEX Mex. Survival - food, for when you are starving but Not something that will make your taste buds go wild. The salsa is Way too watered down :( I like salsa!! The enchiladas had no visible sauce. Weird because that's all an Enchilada is, a taco in spicy sauce... Here they were just drenched in cheese. A lot of cheese. The rice and beans topped with a small amount of lettuce and tomatoes were good. This is something I can cook at home and I am nO chef. Considering the ingredients it is not expensive to make, so in all reality it would be cheaper to make at home which makes this place be Expensive when the cost of ingredients, taste and location is taken into account. Sometimes you pay extra when eating out, maybe for the extensive ingredients, or the quality, freshness. I'm even ok with paying for the ambiance-decor of a place. After all, we also eat with our eyes etc but this is not the case here. It lacks flavor, authenticity (even if it is TexMex come on, Salsa is a Basic Need!) & it's overpriced considering these factors. Having said that... If your taste buds go mad in ecstasy for this place, please, Enjoy :-D I still think it can be a relatively healthy* option.

Small place that doesn't look like much and doesn't look like it should be in Manhattan. But once I ordered, I wish I worked in Manhattan! I'd eat here every day! Steak tacos were $3 so I got 2. They have a minimum credit card charge of $6 anyways, which is actually awesome, especially for a small place like this. The 2 tacos I got were simple, yet filling. They are generous with the meat. Def go here instead of McDonalds down the street!

I pretty much only eat burritos at mexican fast places as a general rule. Perfect food, on the go, and my baseline marker for fast/cheap burritos is chipotle. Now disagree if you want, or whether you think chipotle is good or bad, would I go here rather than chipotle? no. Steak tortilla, no beans please but can I have peppers instead? No Tortillas from a plastic pack (not homemade like another review said) Steak was chewy, overcooked, seasoned really dry Lettuce was a little dried out Non-generous portions of guacamole. While i believe its slightly cheaper than chipotle, the portion size, flavor, seasoning, and variety is no way close to it. One thing this has is that it delivers. Even then, I don't think its good enough for me to have it unless I'm really craving.

This is one of those Chinese run Tex-Mex places. However, this is a higher quality one compared to others. Prices are low ($6 burritos, $6 enchiladas, $2 tacos) with big portions and flavorful food. Yes, the food is not authentic but it's tasty and filling. There is a reason this place has been here for many years (over a decade by my count).

I just tried for the first time because it is very close to my school studio! I had the cheese & Steak quesadilla and a side of pinto beans. I do think the spicy sauce is very watered down. But the quesadilla is very flavorful and so is the pinto beans( it has some spiciness to it). I think the good thing about this place is price and I will definitely try other things here!

Ordered here when I was at NYU emergency room. CHEAP FOOD but horrible quality. The enchiladas had no sauce and the meat was QUESTIONABLE. meat didnt taste fresh or even like steak. Burrito wasn't even closed, it was open and like a huge taco. Overall food tasted bad. I WONT BE BACK.

Yeah they pretty good. Wanted Chipotle but this closer to the train... Clean spot fast service and most items cooked right in front of you.

Glad I expensed this shit. We're in NYC, not idk... W. Virginia? I had the guac and chips, a quesadilla w/ jalepenos, and a steak burrito. All were shit. Too much sour cream in guac. guac tasted like it was made with overly ripe avacado. too much sour in the sour cream. burrito was a big messy taco. Unless you possess the elementary palette of an overweight American in the early 90's, avoid.

Beef fajitas were ok. The black beans and salsa were not good. The tortillas were the best part of the meal.

The prices are low, but the food quality matched. It really should be classified as "fusion" (Asian/Mex). If I had taken a blind taste test, I no doubt would have guessed my chimichanga was an egg roll. Not a lot of good Mexican places in the area and unfortunately can't add this to the list.

The best thing about this restaurant is the price. The Mexican pizzas are a good size and very filling for $5. I get the tex-mex chili which has a lot of meat and beans as well as a good amount of lettuce, tomatoes, and jalapenos on it. The chili taco is good as well though if they take too long to deliver it you'll get one soggy taco. The burritos are quite large (bordering on chipotle) and have quite a bit of meat as well as guacamole. I also get the platters occasionally which I would recommend as well, you get a decent amount of meat, some rice and beans, and some veggies along with 2 tortillas and a soda for $6. The quality of the food isn't the best and it's not authentic by any means but for the price it's a great cheap lunch.

I'll keep this one short and sweet while I am still in a glorious food aura. This place is a little hole in the wall that looks like crap, has no real decor to speak of, and if you didn't know better was a Chinese restaurant because everyone who works here is Asian. That said, it's redeeming value is that you can get super dooper cheap Tex-Mex in this little dive of a place. Taco's and Fajita wraps at $2.00 each! Everything else on the menu is no more than $5 -$9 bucks. Just ridiculous. They even take credit cards with a $10 minimum. I actually ate at one of the two tables there to chow down a quick lunch and noticed they do a brisk take out biz. Good to know as I felt kinda dirty when I left and feel like I need a shower now. Cheap and dirty is good.

This place is not authentic Mexican food. It's supposed to be Texmex food. Texas style Mexican food. I think it's soo cool to see Chinese people making Mexican food. That only happens in New York. I like eating from this place. They make homemade flour tortillas that are absolutely delicious. They also make delicious Mexican rice and re-fried beans. I like getting the ground beef hard shell taco. I also like to order the soft shell flour tortilla taco with pinto beans and cheese. I come here just about everyday for lunch because I work so close to this place and the prices are great! I love this place.

  • Brian L.

This is a no-frills Chinese owned Mexican restaurant. It is not the most authentic Mex food around and the place was not decorated. For 6.5 dollars daily specials, it cannot be beat though. I usually order L5 or L7: Steak or Steak/Chicken with rice, beans, cheese, tortilla, and guacamole. The guacamole is very creamy and silky ++. If you are looking for a fast and reliable place for tacos, quesadillas, or fajita, you cannot go wrong with New Taco Express. It offers great value for its price.

What can i say i order from here at least once a week not only is their food delicious but is also fresh. great prices for it being located down town love the chicken nachos and the chicken taco locos is def a must try everything on their menu is just delicious you will not regret

PROS: - it's CHEAP. - Chicken/ Steak Taco - I love the crunchy shells. It's packed with lots of meat, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Standard Ingredients.Taste is alright. CONS: - Chicken Quesadilla - it was bland (it was only chicken and cheese) but it was filling. the problem is that it doesn't have much flavor -spicy sauce is very watery Note: - Asians are manning the Tex-Mex restaurant. Probably why the food isn't that good. I did see one Hispanic guy working there though.

nom nom nom. Not the best or most authentic mexican food ever, but damn good for the price. And the steak is great!

What's the best way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Order Mexican food made by Chinese folks. The food, surprisingly, wasn't too bad. I had L7 lunch platter - steak, guacamole, rice, and beans. *surprisingly, the beef was plentiful and just freaking fresh *Chinese people make ANYTHING!

Ordered from them last night. Delicious! Very authentic Mexican food. The fajita special (4 fajitas) were to die for. They give huge portions too. I will definitely go back!

I am a picky eater and I notice things about the food I eat. This Mexican food spot is the best I have ever been to!!!!!!!! The food is always delicious and nothing there ever tastes bad or off! The lovely and sweet asian girls there are hard workers; and always do a wonderful job on every one of my orders! They are NEVER ever STINGY with the portions they give you either!!!!!!!!!!! If I want to eat, then I want a nice amount of food, not some insulting amount only enough to feed a five year old! THIS EATING ESTABLISHMENT WILL HAVE YOU LEAVING FULL!!!!!!!!! I don't care about atmosphere therefore I do not care that this spot is small. I am not in a eating establishment to look around and ogle the lovely decor while the food I recieve is only enough to feed a five year old. SO I declare this my favorite Mexican spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ordered the steak rice, chilli taco, and chip. steak rice wasn't too good, the rice was too hard, not soft enough.
