I've been there a few times now and I like it. I love how clean and bright it is. The burgers there are phenomenal and the coffee is always fresh. I like to drink about 2-3 cups per visit and the waiters are quick to refill. The portions are generally more than what I can eat which means that its perfect for me and it should at the very least be enough for 99% of it's clientele. The prices are moderate in comparison to other diners, but considering how you get more in return than most places, I'd say that the price is low. The one thing that would stop me from giving this place five stars is the flavor of other foods I've tried. I've had a panini, roast beef sandwich and an omelet and across the board I can say that I've had better at a competing local diner. The competing local diner does not have the degree of cleanliness or the fast wait-staff, so it's a trade off.

Kouros Bay offers up a huge menu that not just has a lot of choices, but is so big that two people cannot rest the menu on the table at the same time without annoying each other. That's no matter, since one of you can snack on the relish tray while the other makes his or her dinner choice. The server might ask you if you're planning on ordering dinners, before bringing out the relish tray -- to make sure that you're not planning to substitute it for dinner. You might be tempted to do just that, since the relish tray is a nutritious meal in itself consisting of: soft bread with sesame seeds (served with butter); Krispy crackers; pickles; cole slaw, and my favorite protein -- chick pea salad. This is the same combination of appetizers that had many loyals going to the Foursome Diner, which was also owned by the Giannakouros family. I tried the Greek fries -- a satisfying portion of fries cooked just right, not too oily, with feta cheese and dried herbs sprinkled on top -- which were so good that I had to have them on my second trip. With the price per plate set at $5.95, I figured it could qualify as my dinner entree and it did. The second time, they were just as good. You can read our entire review at our site...see you there.

Good place and service, it is a little on the expensive side and it has an older crowd but if you want to go to a diner, this place is not bad at all.

I love, love , love this diner. Kouros bay Diner is the best diner in brooklyn. The sauteed entrees are way better then el greco diner by a long shot. the breakfast here is way better then the floridian diner. The paninis, burgers and wraps are to die for. I love this diner the most because of the great workers. I walk in the door and I right away get greeted by the lovely hostess with a smile, when she sits me at a table I get greeted by a wonderful waitress with a smile always. even the boss comes around to check on how me and my family are doing as well as the others tables around us. I never wait long for my food and they give me free refills on soda and fresh coffee. The waitress always comes back and checks on me and we have delightful conversations. the family envirornment feels comfortable like i was at home eating. We have conversations on political views as well as sporting events. They have great tasteful music playing all times. they have 5 flat screen televisions with different shows to spark different interest in all aspects of each customers individual taste. I am also happy that most of the foursome diner staff came here to kouros bay, The prices are reasonable, lets be honest people the prices of products went up and kouros bay are being very reasonable with picking there prices. this is the economy we live in so deal with it or cook at home because the food is great and the workers are wonderful!!!!!!

I've given this diner a few chances. Food is discusting! Had a cheeseburger I ordered medium and my gf ordered well done. The burgers both came bloody too raw even for medium! Theb I came there for diner one time the waitress paid no attention to us at all we left-no tip. Third time I ordered cake to go! It was carrot cake that was cut from a new uncut cake. Little that I know it was stale and had a piece of garlic on it! That was prolly droped from the knife they cut other things with! Discusting dinner never again!

I've been here a couple times now, most of the times I've been here is during breakfast. Everything's pretty good - their menu, service. Overall, I think this is a place worth visiting once in a while.

Very convenient and they deliver late. The dripping Brisket is probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had and I just ordered it on a whim. They've never gotten an order wrong. I basically stick to Diner Food when I order from a diner. Their burgers are great too!! I can't review for the rest of the menu because it is so expansive and big. But so far.so good.

Disappointment of a Greek diner! Where to start...oh maybe with the waiter knocking over my glass of water and going all over my side of the table and the floor. Lucky enough I have quick reflexes and moved out of the way in time or the water would have been all over me. Anyways... On to the food! I had the gyro- the worse gyro I've ever had. It was as hard as a hockey puck and flavorless. The pita seemed even old and hard. My friend had the chicken salad and was disappointed as well since it had no flavor at all. This place was very slow and that is always a sign of business. I'm usually very very good about checking yelp reviews before going into a place but another person who was with me said she's been here before and we should go. I trusted her because Sheepshead is her neighborhood and not mine. Never again will I believe someone else's word without checking Yelp reviews therefore I would never return here if I was dying of hunger and in Sheepshead.

I have been going here for over a year but recently they started to suck. I would always get the same thing (a burger deluxe) and it was always perfect. But my most recent past order was disgusting. I felt like I was eating raw soapy meat. The fries were drenched in salt and grease. What was going on?! I asked the waitress if they got a new chef but they didn't. I guess he was having a bad day or just losing his touch. Overall 3 stars are for the breakfast menu which is as perfect as a diner can get. I will eat here for breakfast only. Not for lunch or dinner that's for sure.

I come here fairly often on the weekend, and once in a while during the week for dinner. I have to say, this is the diner to go to. The wait staff are all great, and overall service is what you expect it to be. Parking in the lot behind the diner or along side of it makes this diner a godsend. The portions are huge, the food is flavorful, and the prices are within the range of other diners in the area.

Having frequented El Greco Diner for years I was quite sad to see it close down recently. Fortunately, there is Kouros Bay Diner, which isn't too far off on Nostrand Avenue. Kouros Bay is a small diner and it seems like it is mostly frequented by elders in the neighborhood. When I first sat down, I immediately noticed the excellent service. We were escorted to a table and given menus as soon as we entered the diner. During our meal, we were approached multiple times by the waiter and waitress checking on our status. The friendly, home feel of the restaurant definitely gave us a good feeling. Unfortunately, where the diner exceled in customer service, they lacked in food quality. As much as I wanted to like what we ordered, I was disappointed in the food. We ordered a Mushroom Burger with Fries and a Corned Beef Hash with Home Fries and Eggs. The Mushroom Burger lacked flavor and freshness. It was quite bland. The fries were soft and not hot/warm. The Onion Ring in the burger was not crunchy either. Despite the fact that they are a diner, I expected a better burger still. As for the breakfast dish we ordered, that was better. The Corned Beef Hash was not bad and the Home Fries and Eggs were cooked better. It's usually hard to screw up the breakfast dish, but I'm never one to be surprised. I wanted so hard to like Kouros Bay Diner because of the friendly service, but the food was such a letdown. I will say that I'm going to give them another try and I hope the next time the food will prove me wrong about them!

Jesus some people really expect a lot from a diner. I've always been very happy with my food when I come here. The dinner specials can't be beat. You get soooo much food that I can never finish it. There was a man (the manager?) who walked around checking on us in addition to our waitress who was very sweet. The coleslaw is so good!! I'm a fan of the chicken cordon bleu. I've gotten juicy burgers and fluffy eggs here. I don't know what the bad reviews are about but some people are just never happy.

Every time I come here it is fantastic...from the food to the service. We always feel like welcomed guests in their home.

It's a classic diner with classic diner fare; take it for what it is and you wont be disappointed at all. I have had breakfast here several times and greatly enjoyed it each time. With El Greco out of the picture I imagine that they would now pick on some more diners.

Came here with my parents, got 2 omelettes and eggs Benedict. I loved it. The jalapenos were spicy! The omelette well made. The combinations were nothing to complain about. I am always surprised when people go to a diner and get rack of lamb or a lobster, simply put it's the wrong thing to order. Come here for diner food, and you won't be disappointed.

I went here for the first time yesterday with my family. The place is cozy and cleanliness is up to par. My son ordered the Fried Platter which consisted of mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and French fries. His order was huge! The mozzarella sticks were on point, well seasoned and nice and crispy. I do wish it came with six instead of four. The chicken tenders were crunchy but unfortunately on the bland side. My husband ordered a grilled cheese and an XL chicken noodle soup. The grilled cheese was pretty buttery and very cheesy, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. The XL chicken noodle soup wasn't so XL but more on the medium bowl side. My husband complained of it being very bland. He added some pepper to try and spice it up. I unlike everyone else, ordered breakfast! Oh how I can't resist breakfast for dinner. I had two eggs over easy, potatoes, sausage (which I hated and traded it in for bacon without a problem) and toast. My breakfast was perfect! What made it even better is me snacking from everyone else's plates :-D I truly should've been born a food critic. After our meal, we ordered drinks. To my surprise they had all different types! Some examples: Hennessey, Bacardi Gold, Patron, Jose Cuervo, Cocktails such as Sea Breeze, Malibu, Zombie, Sex on the Beach, Bloody Mary, Melon Ball, Chocolate Martini and so much more! I ordered a strawberry margarita and played $2 extra for top shelf liquor with a shot of Patron. My husband ordered a Patron and a Hennessey shot. All were perfect! The prices were amazing for their drinks. All under $10. You can't go wrong. To add the cherry on top of it all, the customer service was great. After our meal we each received blow pops. It was cute.

I was surprised, this place is actually really good its nothing special just an ordinary diner, but the food is fresh and it is prepared quick i got a sandwhich with ham and cheese, they are really generous with ham and cheese, it was stacked the fries are really good, not oily so that's a big plus, they offer sweet potato and home fries too, yum! the portions are huge for the small prices, i would definetly eat here again they also have a healthy menu for those on a diet, and they are good tasty options , not some gross salads.

Love getting breakfast here when I'm down in Brooklyn. The challah French toast, omelettes and sausage are all delicious. The staff is always friendly and polite and I'm always seated and served quickly. Great breakfast in a traditional diner atmosphere.

Stopped by here for dinner and the place was fairly empty. I ordered my food to be taken out and sat at the counter to wait. I watched the employees take glass after glass and put it into the ice bin to fill it up - without using an ice scoop. There's also some kind of tubing in the ice bin and it has disgusting black stuff on it. The people at the front counter were arguing one minute and then joking around the next, very unprofessional. The soup was so salty it was inedible. The rest of the food was not worth what I paid at all. I tried the diner back when it was the Foursome at the old location, and then again when they opened at the new location. I didn't like it much but I gave it one more try. I won't order from there again.

came here on a saturday morning around 730am and there were already a few people there. it was 2 of us and we sat in a booth. the owner seated us but he looked as if he didn't want to be there or to be bothered. we ordered the french toast and gyro breakfast. everything came really quickly. the french toast was a little weird to me, i can't put my finger on it but there's a distinct taste to it that i didn't like. the gyro breakfast was just a gyro with egg and home fries. the home fries were eh. i've had better but it was ok. the lamb was also just ok. not sure if i would come back here

Friendly staff and great food I order from them all the time and delivery is fast and prompt. My orders have been accurate each and everytime. Love the breakfast menu omelette, home fries with whole wheat toast my fiancé loves the philly cheese steak wrap. The only thing that is hit or miss is the French fries as sometimes they are fried in the same oil as their onion rings and anyone that knows me knows I hate onion rings. Other than that food is great and at an ultimately affordable price.

Good food as long as you take into acct that it's a diner. I usually get breakfast ordered and by the time I get it the food is cold. The prices are high and yet the quality is average on most nights.

This place always messes up orders. Either they always forget something or serve iced fraps hot as fire. They don't pay attn. these people are fuckin animals that make the food. Garbage!!

Kouros Bay is def my favorite brooklyn diner. The food is great and the portions are humongous! The prices are totally reasonable and the service is fantastic - I love the fact that everyone helps each other with coffee and water refills and bussing the tables. We've gone for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have always been pleased. Writing this review has me craving one of their delicious black and white milkshakes - YUM!!!

It looks like a traditional buffet setting with minimal atmosphere but I guess it depends what can of feeling and friends you bring to it. Servers were wonderful and responsive. Has a Korean shopping area next door. (supermarket, bakery, etc.) Servers would occasionally help you grill but definitely not take over. Loved the soup (4 selections) but ice cream was meh- expected from buffet places. Unlimited supply of food, though no seafood besides squid and shrimp when we were there. If you're a sauce person, they've got it all covered!

Well, that's the last time I order from Kouros Bay. Ordered broiled shrimp and not only was it completely tasteless, it was undercooked and some of the shrimp were not cleaned. Disgusting.

What a surprise! I'm reviewing yet another diner... For those who know Brooklyn diners, you know that The Foursome closed down and reopened as Kouros Bay on Nostrand Ave. I'm so glad that they did because this place is prettier and seem to attract a mixed crowd than the the septuagenarians and the octogenarians I was used to seeing at the other location. I have nothing against old people... just saying. I like the fact that the cashier and the manager have come over from Foursome. It feels good to see the faces that you're used to seeing. Service was great yesterday. We were seated quickly and when I raised my hand to get someone's attention, someone came over immediately. It was 11 am and I didn't feel like having breakfast. Coffee was very good and my gyro platter was good as well. Really LOVED the fries. I'm sure it wasn't homemade, but it had that light crispy taste. Waitress was attentive...can't complain and my husband liked it as well so it looks like we'll be coming back...

Strike one for this place. I had coffee which was pretty tasteless, (as is the diner standard, no points taken off here) then ordered the spinach pie with two stuffed grape leaves and a side salad. I don't know if it's always a bad idea to order "greek food" in a diner with a flamingly greek name but the spinach pie was some of the worst stuff I've had in a diner yet. An oversalted slab of otherwise tasteless wilted spinach compote (not counting "slight bitterness" as a flavor here) stuck between two pieces of "phyllo dough" that for their toughness, sogginess and thickness might as well have been two 4 inch strips of wrinkled old skin. Literally the comparison was pretty disgusting, my fork would not even pierce it unless jabbed with sufficient speed and ferocity. Overall cost for this tragedy? 13 bucks plus tip. STRIKE ONE KOUROS.

  • John S.

The service is fair/good, the waiting time (from the time the order is made and then served) seems a bit long regardless of the time of day. Given the number of good eateries in the area, I found this aspect of things to be unfortunate. While others have had better experiences here, I'm hard pressed to find a reason to go back.

  • Laughton M.

This is my second time eating at this diner. My first experience here was for breakfast back two months ago. The service was pleasant and the meal consisted of your average waffles and two sausage links with coffee. Since this is a "Greek" diner, I vowed to return to try their lunch menu. Boy, I should have sensed something was wrong here when the lunch menu was huge (an amazing five pages long). My wife and cousin accompanied me, and they ordered the Talapia in butter sauce, and the broiled shrimp in butter sauce. Unfortunately, the only thing delicious about these dishes were their names. The fish was stale as in frozen prepared, and the lack of seasoning in both dishes were quite evident. The yellow rice was flavorless by yellow rice standards. The waitress was very nice, and the atmosphere was a bit dreary, but above else I was expecting a lot more from the food. I will not be eating there again after this experience. What a shame.

Have loved Foursome/Kouros for many years, and they still hold up their respectable. We have never been disappointed with the food & service. I DO highly recommend it

Oh Kouros Bay Diner, what do i say about you? well for starters, it is what the Foursome Diner use to be. I lived across the street from the Foursome and ate there a couple times a week. I enjoyed their food very much. When they closed down i was heartbroken but was soonly healed knowing that they moved else where under another name. Okay so Kouros Bay is now open 24 hours I believe, i made a huge deal about it telling all my friends. cause all the other 24 hour diners are shitty [el greco & floridian]. Their food is awesome, especially their breakfast and the fact they make it allllllll day long. so exciting. their wait staff is nice, sometimes you get the grumpy old guy/lady but they are attentive when you need something. Prices are good. The places is also insanely clean which i really do like. it smells clean too. I dont know whats not letting me give them 5 stars but theres something. its not the totally perfect diner but its damn near close. overall, go here. late night awesome food.

I have been here one time before and it wasn't bad, so took my family for a quick dinner after a movie. Place was pretty empty for a Saturday night but didn't think much of it. The prices are a bit high, but I guess pretty average for a diner. My step-son wanted some spaghetti with meatballs. The kids menu didn't have meatballs just pasta with marinara sauce. I asked the waitress if they can add like 1 or 2 meatballs. She came back to say if we want meatballs it will be $3.50 per meatball. I almost feel off my chair. I have never heard of meatballs costing that much, I just thought it was ridiculous and told her don't bother just bring the spaghetti. When his food came, it was on a medium size plate which looked like the pasta would slide right off the plate. The pasta was flavorless and bland, over cooked. Luckily my son is not picking when it comes to his pasta and started eating. When he was nearing the bottom of the plate it was like a bowl of tomato soup. When we were finished and I went up to the register to pay I told the manager about it and he said that that is what they charge and that is normal and when I told him that the spaghetti was a bowl of flavorless tomato soup he said that he was sorry, but the food here is good and no one ever complains. I just told him no problem, I won't complain anymore to him and I will be sure to take my business somewhere else.

This place used to be The Foursome on Avenue U and Bragg ( yelp.com/biz/foursome-di… ). I was one of the local regulars, so of course I followed these guys to their new location, expecting the same quality. I was not let down. Of all the diners in the Brooklyn area, this is my favorite. Their menu is even more extensive (and prettier) than before, and the new place is GORGEOUS. I've yet to eat a meal here I haven't liked. Try it out if you're in the neighborhood.

Very good, traditional Greek diner. Really nice interior, really nice staff (the owner even changed the Yankees game to the Mets game for my mom). Food is very good; love the half sour and sour pickles they bring out before the meal. I don't eat coleslaw, but my mom said it was very good. Nice selection of food and drinks (even cherry-lime rickeys!). The last time I ate here, I ordered a chicken burrito wrap but the waitress misheard me and brought me a chicken fajita wrap. I didn't want to make a fuss and send it back (I hate sending food back), so I just sucked it up and ate it. It was good, but obviously, not what I wanted. Discovered this place because my dad was walking around the neighborhood and needed a restroom. They let him in without making him purchase something.

My linguine alfredo sauce was extremely oily, the scallops were stale. Barely ate any of it. Friends breakfast was just plain bad. Only reason I give 2 stars is because the service was excellent

  • Marie P.

I've had good and so-so meals here. The four stars are solely based on a certain experience I had here. One very weird patron basically kicked us out of the place. The next time we came there the owner greeted us, apologized and offered drinks on the house. The service was great too. You can read about it in detail on my blog mpeysakh.blogspot.com/20… Other than that, it is clean, friendly and the food is not bad for a diner food.

We found Kouros on yelp and it was what we expected - a fantastic, friendly attitude with tasty food to boot! My son enjoyed the burger and said it was among the best he's had. My girlfriend and I had the Challah French Toast and it was yummy. The owner, Peter came over to the table as I was telling my son about NY's famous Egg Cream and Peter said he makes the best. So, we tried it and for the first time my son drank a carbonated soda with chocolate. He loved it. Peter spent a few minutes with us and he was delightful. We talked about Brooklyn, his restaurant, and we shared some experiences. We will be back the next time we are in NY. Peter and his restaurant is on our list. :-) Go, you will have a great experience.

When New Clements Diner closed on Sheepshead Bay Road, the need to find a new diner became very imperative for me. I found Kouros Bay via Yelp and had dinner there tonight. The dining area is really nicely decorated. Very clean and bright. There's some background music playing just loud enough to be enjoyed, but not overbearing where you can't talk to friends. There are also HD TVs playing cable with subtitles on (but no audio). There's no smells at all (New Clements would have this mysterious odor that I could never figure out what it was). As I said earlier, the place is VERY clean. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I ordered a meat loaf dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy with corn. I had a salad prior to the meal. The lettuce was a bit wilty in some places. The bread served wasn't warm at all and was a bit stale. Portion sizes are very generous. The meatloaf was very tasty, but the mushroom gravy was entirely too salty. It was obvious that canned mushrooms were used (maybe why the gravy was too salty). I had rice pudding with coffee after dinner. That was pretty good. The coffee wasn't bitter and was obviously fresh. Full bodied and typical for a diner but not watered down. When I paid at the front door, the cashier wasn't very friendly. When I paid with my credit card, I included 5 dollars back for cash as a tip- which when I went to give to my waiter, the cashier snatched it away and said he would give it him. I didn't say anything, but I thought it was pretty rude since it was *MY* money. I didn't like leaving the restaruant on that note, it pissed me off. So to sum it up: Kouros Bay Diner is very clean, and has a beautiful dining area, but ho-hum food, but I'll give it another try. Right now I'd give them a "C." They need to get their cashier to work on his lousy manners.

I hadn't been aware that Kouros had sprung up in that location, and found it on Yelp in a search for a decent breakfast place in that neighborhood. Now I've been there a few times. It really is as clean as others have said. The wait staff was very polite and attentive. We ordered basic stuff that we have eaten at many other places, to make a direct comparison. One time we had a spinach & Swiss omelet, American cheese omelet, home fries, toast. Another time we had pancakes, waffles, bacon. While the food was prepared in the typical diner way, the quality was both better than expected and worse. The perfect eggs were neither runny nor overcooked. The home fries were light and not greasy. The just-right toast came hot and pre-buttered. The pancakes were ok but the waffles tasted like cardboard and required a whole lotta syrup (the fake stuff, of course) to make it palatable. The (very fatty) bacon was cooked okay. The coffee was so-so but drinkable. I had high hopes for this place at first but now I feel disappointed. I'll go there if I'm in the immediate area looking for a place to eat, but I won't go out of my way to get there.

Place is great. It's local, people are friendly and the burgers are pretty good. They kinda kill you with the price.

I have been to this diner twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both times I really enjoyed the food and service. A little pricier than Perry's (but worth it). I really enjoyed the breakfast special and the other day I had the filet of sole "diet" dinner which was prepared to perfection. Baked, not dripped in butter or oil, veggies ok and rice. When I am in the neighborhood, I will dine here again.
