The place may not look all that impressive but the food sure is. The baked ziti is delicious and the chicken parm is the best i have had in a long time. Perfect place for a casual lunch or dinner with great food and prices that won't kill your pockets. Chicken parm with baked ziti is my favorite.

Got a order for takeout. Amazing. Food was delicious, hot, and fresh. (See photo gallery). Chicken was pounded thin. Very authentic italian taste, Hero bread, great. 8 large mozzarella sticks. Marinara sauce to die for. A cup full enough to serve with a seperate order of pasta. You definitely get your moneys worth here. I'll be going again, Seating available for takeout, on the left, so it must get pretty packed. When I went it was empty. Highly recommended.

I've been in the Bronx for some time, and everyone has a story about a time they went to Venice. It might have been from the 70s 80s 90s... everyone's been to Venice, and with good reason! This was my first time! Walking in, I first glimpsed at the black and white old pictures from 'back in the day.' Passed the front entrance hall and you're in. It's a simple room full of customers (1 last empty table for me), with nothing glitzy. The walls were painted with Venice inspired images... and Easter decorations were hung around the room. I took a look at the dishes around, and they were big and smelled terrific. I opted for the very well known Chicken and Shrimp Parmesan and was glad I did. It was perfect! My boyfriend had the Chicken Francese with mushrooms. I couldn't finish all my food, which was okay for me. I was excited to take left over's home, since it meant I could eat & enjoy it again. When you're looking for the Bronx original vibe and flavor, this one has it. It was nice to go to a place with history, but most important, a place that has kept its authenticity. Everyone has a story about a time they went to Venice. My story ended the same as all the others; great food, people and forced to take a nap as soon as I got home! I'm already looking forward to going back.

I ate here my entire pregnancy. Great portions of food. Lasagna is the only thing I've ever tried.

The worst service i ever had in a restaurant. I went for Valentines Day, was pointed to my table, asked if I wanted Garlic bread...which I never got. Food took forever to reach the table and when it did it was undercooked and bland in taste. Had the Fried Clamari and it was over done. The waiters had no smiles, kkind words or any interaction except dropping the food off. They must have changed owners because this is not the Venice I remember. Too bad Such a loss. Save your money and go else where.

For 51 years Venice has been cooking for this neighborhood. How's the neighborhood? Well, the parking lot is monitored by security cameras-- and you can enjoy the remote view of your car from the monitors while you eat. I think that about sums it up. Seriously though, this is a great neighborhood place that caters to the local lunching crowd in an area that has changed a great deal in the last half century. Fact: the South Bronx is actually now safer than some other parts of the Bronx, despite its reputation. The atmosphere? Ultra casual. The clientele? NY's brightest and NY's finest. Public servants unite! The food? Tuck your napkin into your shirt as you feast on red sauce Italian specialties-- huge portions of pasta, enormous heros, thin-pounded chicken cutlets and eggplant, and but 2 choices of coffee: espresso or Sanka. Does Sanka even count as coffee?

Just got a takeout sandwich from this place the other day; don't get me wrong, they actually do a decent job, but as you could expect from this next of the woods, they aren't exactly a gourmet restaurant. Frankly, I think its amazing that this place has survived since the 50's anyway, and it is actually pretty popular in the community. Anyway, I got a chicken parm hero with sauteed red peppers and onions. The overall product was pretty good, and it was very cheap for a footlong. The chicken was pounded very thin, although there coudl've been a little more of it and the cheese they used was cheap. The sauce was very flavorful--especially with the peppers and onions added--but they didn't need to put on as much as they did. The bread was very good as well, specifically made for sandwiches. The only reason I'm not rating this 3 stars is because of how I felt after I ate the sandwich. I didn't feel sick from the sandwich, but I felt sick at the thought of finishing it. Thats something that never happens to me, and while I enjoyed the sandwich because I was really hungry, I don't think it wouldn't have been as good if I wasn't starving. I could be wrong on this as its very subjective, but I'll definitely get lunch from them again soon and then maybe I'll update this. Even so, this place is one of the last of its kind in this area, and if you're looking for something out of the area's norm (Latino), its defin itely worth a try.

Great family restaurant...Remember going to their first restaurant and then they moved right across the street from this one....I have to say that after 50 plus years they still provide you with great food and warm hospitality...from owners to managers to waiters they all treat you like family...

I order take out from here pretty often. My fav with the Penne Alla Vodka with Chicken. It is possible one of the best alla vodka sauces I have had any where. Only once their were cheap with the sauce so the next time I asked for more on the side but it was too much. Entree comes with bread (carb overload) and salad. Salad is topped with pickled veggies, so if you are not a fan asked them to keep it off. I am also a fan of their chicken parm and their Chicken/Egplant Parm. It is like a lasagna of layered chicken and eggplant smothered in sauce and cheese. Yum.

Very disappointed with this place. I went there with high expectations. Maybe it was just the take out. Maybe dining in may be better but the take out we got is just not worth coming back to for me. Pizza was not bad but the crust sucked. Never had a crust taste quite like that before. The baked ziti was better than the pizza but not by much. I've definitely had better. Hopefully you'll have a better experience than I did.

I think they have average sandwiches there, last time I was there I tried the veal parm, which actually is pretty tough to get in the south bronx. The sandwich was good, but nothing special. Their pizzas are the same, they are good, but not great. I think Venice makes up for this by having great pasta. If you want a decent pasta meal, this place has good Penne Vodka for about $7.50. Comes with bread and butter to dip in the sauce, and it's a generous portion. I wouldn't count this as a great date place, but it's a good place to go when you have an hour to kill for lunch.
