Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. Ricardo Ocean Grill.....Highly recommended. We initially went to Ricardo's on 111th on a Saturday. The waiter let us know there was a 45min wait. Typical for New York. She did share that their sister restaurant had not wait at all... Offered us a free round of drinks if we decided to patronize the restaurant that evening. It was a win situation for us... No wait, food was superb! Everything was tastefully seasoned. My drink, passion mango margarita was delicious. Steak with pork chop seasoned and cooked perfectly. With sweet plantain and a side of rice and beans. Garlic bread fresh and buttery. Once again, very pleased.

I have been to this restaurant several times over the past few years and I have neglected to review it. After going last night, it was a must. It's small, usually empty on a weeknight so the service is great and the environment is quiet and comfortable. I say clear of RIcardo Steakhouse because it is a mad house over there. I like a restaurant where I can where what I want, and they are not sticklers for dress code. The bread to start was enough of an appetizer and it is delicious. The Salmon Parmesan is awesome my boyfriend loved the Chicken Romano. The drinks were delicious and the price is right. We ate outside on a breezy warm comfortable June evening and it was perfect. Next time I'm going to try dessert.

Epic fail! A customer at this 24 seat restaurant was in hysterics over a death in the family. Fair enough that it's terribly sad but she was wailing, weeping and falling down to the point that someone called 9-1-1. She briefly left the restaurant and then came back to use the restroom AND BLEW IT UP. The smell and subsequent clean up with acrid cleaning products triggered an asthma attack for another customer. But did the management do anything? Offer to escort the wailer out, give other customers a free drink or discount? NO! Did I say it's a 24 seat, 200 square foot restaurant?? And there's no way to give 0 stars....

I arrived at this location Sunday for a Sunday b-day dinner with a friend. I ordered sea bass with mash potatoes and my friend ordered scallops that was paired with fried zucchini and something else (I forget lol). I had a cosmopolitan and he had a margarita. The cosmopolitan was decent. We also received complimentary shots of our choice thanks to yelp (sweeeet!!!).The ambiance of the restaurant was dim with not many patrons and a very romantic feeling and current r&b and hip hop music dancing in the air (I almost forgot I was at a restaurant lol). The sea bass was amazing with careful prep along with mash potatoes. It felt like "forever" waiting on both dishes as we both were fighting hunger pains until the delicious garlic bread our waiter brought out to tame us (I tried to restrict myself with the garlic bread for the entree but the garlic bread was superb!!). Overall I would come back for the sea bass because it was cooked to perfection; moist, savory and fulfilling along with the garlic bread mmm-yum! It was worth the wait :)

I had been years ago and it was good. I had high hopes its a cute little hole in the wall. Had the grilled seafood platter and it wasnt fresh. Best thing I ate was the empanadas... Gross. Sad Ricardo's Steakhouse never disapoints.

One of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan! Delicious food, warm friendly staff, good prices and such a lovely space. I only wish I lived closer.

My brunch experience at Ricardo Ocean Grill yesterday was perfection. Everything was just right. One of the 1st things you notice about this place is that its extremely tiny. As small as the place is I didn't fell cramped at all, maybe because it wasn't crowded. The second thing I noticed was their phenomenal playlist of up-tempo 90s R&B. Seriously the music was on point! This contributed to the overall cool vibe of this place. The food was really good. I had the Shrimp and grits and it might have been the best shrimp in grits I have ever had. It was very cheesy and full of flavor. The large bits of bacon in this dish take it to another level. My friend had the ocean Benedict and I stole a taste of that. This dish was outstanding as well, the salmon that tops the benedict is incredibly flavorful and the potatoes and salad were perfect sides. Ricardo Ocean Grill does an exceptional job of blending lunch with breakfast while staying true to its seafood theme. Its clear that a lot of thought went into putting their menu together and their execution was flawless yesterday. Mimosas are the reason I do Sunday brunch. I was hesitant to try the bottomless mimosa special here because its only one hour. Most places in NYC do 1.5 or 2 hours. The time limit became a non-factor, since the place is so small, the server is easily able to keep up w/ the refills. With less time you can manage to drink more mimosas here than you would in the other places that only refill you maybe every 20 mins. The Mimosas are made nice and strong, and with 6 flavor variations there's plenty of variety. last but not least, the service was attentive, fast and friendly. Our server did a good job of keeping our champaign flutes full and our food came out fast. This is one of those rare reviews when I can't think of one negative thing to say. Based on my 1st experience I would definitely take someone I wanted to impress here. They get 5 stars with no hesitation and I can't wait to try their dinner menu.

This is definitely the lesser, neglected adopted stepchild compared to Ricardo's Steakhouse. It is a small, compact space that is probably better suited for the warmer months (read anytime anyone opens the door, regardless of where you are seated--- you'll know). Dining companion and I had Plain mojito Primor margaritas (uses Patròn tequila, all others use house/well tequila) Appetizers of crab cake and sauteed shrimp Drinks were on point and I definitely recommend those. Crab cake (2) was ok, nothing I'd order again. Shrimp were delicious and inspired me to get an entree with shrimp. For the mains I had the skirt steak and my dining companion had the Red snapper, minus the cheese. Once I saw the breaded snapper, I found it odd that they add mozzarella which would make it resemble a parmigiana dish. Flavors were apparently good because it was eaten within seconds by my companion. Skirt steak was perfectly cooked at medium with an awesome sauce. Accompanying shrimp were good, mashed potatoes tasted out of the box while the spinach arrived cold and after one bite failed on my taste buds. Portion size was great as I could not finish anything on my plate and had it to go. Ended with flan which was decent. Nice presentation on dishes. Sufficiently clean restroom. Yes only one. But this place is sooo small so who cares. This place is best for an established relationship & I probably wouldn't recommend for a first date. Too bad there isn't more to the neighborhood to raise the bar.

3 Stars. The waiter was ok. The food was good. The music was not restaurant music but more of a club vibe. Cute decor.

AMBIANCE: A small quaint and intimate locale. No kids. Nice music in the background. Seats no more than 9 couples at a time (throughout the whole restaurant). Went here since the more popular Ricardo's was filled and they didn't accept any more walk-ins so glad we went to this little hidden gem. STARTERS: Ordered an Ocean Goddess drink, which was delish! Grand marnier, Coco Ciroc, and pineapple juice. YUMMY! Appetizer: Fried of the Sea, which contained fried calamari, scallops, shrimp, accompanied with a sweet sauteed chili peppers on top of salad. DINNER: My fiancé had the skirt steak, pork chops, fried plantains, which came with a side of rice and beans. I had jumbo grilled/sauteed scallops served with vegetable rice with fried zucchini on top. DELICIOUS is an understatement! DESSERT: Chocolate lava cake served with vanilla ice cream (which tasted more like a gelato but still good nonetheless) and whipped cream. We'll definitely be returning to this little hidden gem!

Much like Ricardo's sister location, this place dies not disappoint. Tucked away on 2nd and 119th, this is another hidden gem of east Harlem that can be easily overlooked. With high quality food and great drinks, this is the perfect place for a great date night. Intimate, small, and a calming ambience, I absolutely adore this restaurant.

For starters I had the sautéed shrimp with a glass of Moscato the garlic bread went perfect with the sauce the shrimp. For my entrée I had the pork chops, spinach and mash I highly recommend this dish. The meat tender and was seasoned just right. The ambiance was wonderful dimly lit great place for a date.

The service here is top notch. I usually come on Saturdays and even though it gets pretty busy, they are always super attentive. The hostess seems to be in a perpetual blissful mood. The bartender makes the most banging cocktails. The waiter is constantly on point. The weekend waiting staff seems to have it on lock! It's always a pleasure to come with some friends, or a date, to grub out and have a couple of drinks. The good vibes are addictive! Come get some!

Went on the spur of the moment. It was a great decision. This place isn't always open but we caught it on a good day. The place is tight, but the music and atmosphere more than make up for the lack of space. Bread was delivered to the table and it was heavenly. Buttery and garlic seasoned to perfection. They honor the free shot with your check in. Any liquor of your choice. BONUS POINTS! Daddy loves it when ya honor your word. The sangria was a little weak, however the mixed drinks were better. Appetizers were good, the calamari was tasty and it comes with scallops and shrimp. It's a seafood restaurant, but nothing struck my fancy, so I ordered the pork chops with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. The chops were great, however the spinach lacked sau and teé.... my dinner companion also had a pork chop with a small skirt steak. That skirt steak was seasoned to perfection. The sweet plantains were plentiful and wondrous! The kid ate chicken fingers and fries, not on the menu, but they'll hook you up. Dessert here is awful, the large cookie was bland but the ice cream made it tasty. The banana fritters were even more bland, not sweet at all. The crust had not an ounce of flavor. Use sweet plantains or coat the batter with sugar. I'll be back for some seafood. Great service, but don't add the tip to my bill. I decide how much your service is worth. Don't count my shekels...

VERY GOOD FOOD, NICE SERVICE, HOOD AMBIANCE. BAD DRINKS. This was my first time here but I have been to the original on 110th. I remembered the churrasco skirt steak as being very good so I ordered it again and it didn't dissapoint. The portions are very healthy. I also tried the crab cakes which here amazing, quite different than what I expected but everything on the plate from the shredded guacamole and red peppers had a purpose and added to an amazing dish. The chef really has an idea of what he's doing mixing unique flavor combinations to remix some of your favorite dishes. Its a little tight in there but not overly uncomfortable. The drinks? HORRIBLE. look I get it, the is Spanish Harlem and the sweet sweet flavor profiles probably are in demand but I'm going to need them to not call their mango jungle juice a "sangria"

Good food, good portions but horrible, terrible service and a dining experience that left me unwilling to ever return. Seriously. This place will rob you if you're not careful. I decided to give it a few days before I write this review, but I'm still seething about the overall experience. See below for the complete rant. I went to dinner with a friend on November 4, 2014. It was a Tuesday and we called ahead to ensure a table for 2 was available. We were told there were no tables available and the earliest seating would be 9:30 pm. Okay, no problem. We arrive at 9:30 sharp to find the restaurant completely EMPTY! We asked if it had been busy earlier and were told no, not at all. Strange. I was annoyed, but we stayed regardless. Upon sitting down (and before even introducing himself) the waiter barked that it was cash only that night, so I ran across the street to the nearest ATM. Upon my return to the restaurant (still with only me and my friend) the music was inexplicably and suddenly blasting. Seriously - I would never complain about this sort of thing but I couldn't hear my friend sitting across the table. I asked the bartender to lower the music, and she did- but not before scoffing and rolling her eyes in response. But no matter. Our waiter approached our table, and we asked for some wine suggestions. He said he had "just the thing," went to the back and grabbed a bottle for our approval. We asked what the price was and he said it would be between $20 and $40. Perfect, right? Just wait. The food; appetizers and main dishes came. Everything tasted good. Like, really good. But not once did the waiter approach us during the meal. Not once were we asked how the meal was, or if we needed anything. We couldn't even get a busboy over to the table to refill our water glasses, which were empty for the vast majority the time we spent there. Truly, the restaurant was empty, and each time I had to stand in order to get someone's attention. It was as though every employee were on a break. After finishing our entrees, we waited a full ten minutes with nothing in front of us before I was forced to approach the bar and ask for a dessert menu. The place is tiny, but the whole time the bartender, waiter, and busboy acted as if we weren't even there. We finally had enough; we finished our desert and asked for the check. Remember that bottle from earlier that was supposed to be $20-40? Well it was $50. This was more expensive than nearly any other the bottles on the wine list! Worst of all, the waiter had the balls to tack on an 18% tip, despite the fact we were only a party of two. Anyone who works in the restaurant industry will tell you this is done only for parties of eight people or more. I was willing to forgive all the terrible service up to this point because the food was delicious, but I felt blatantly lied to. I truly felt like Ricardo's Seafood Grill took advantage of us.I don't mind spending $100+ per head on a meal- it's not an issue. Truth be told, I sincerely liked the food there. However, I will not be returning solely due to the terrible service and deceitful, duplicitous practices. If there was a manager on duty, he or she clearly didn't show up for work that day. Edit: The owner, Jimmy contacted me shortly after my review apologizing and was kind to offer myself and my friend a complementary dinner. I went to the sister restaurant; Ricardo's SteakHouse on 11/19 and had a great time. Food delicious, portions were great, crowd lively and servers attentive. I'll be the first person to recognize that every restaurant has their off days and bad characters. I'm glad to go to a place where the owners care about their brand and go the extra mile to fix things when issues come up. Jimmy definitely went the extra mile and I can say I'll be coming back again. =]

I just left a dinner party for a bridal shower and I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. From the moment I sat down, there was a chef in the kitchen staring at me for three hours. He even summoned over a colleague who began staring at me with his friend. This was the absolute creepiest thing that has ever happened to me while out with friends. I even took a picture of him in an attempt to make him feel as uncomfortable as he was making me feel but it had no effect. The service was pathetic. We were literally the only guests in the restaurant and anytime we needed anything, we had to call a staff member over. They never asked us if we needed anything. The hostess was terrible. She alternated between texting, applying lip gloss and pulling her jeans up to her waist. There was nowhere to put our coats and when I saw another guest in our party hand the hostess a coat which she put on a hanger, I asked her if the restaurant had a coat room. She responded by saying, "we have only one hanger left", and walked away. I'm not lying. The food was sub par. Save your money. I really try not to write negative reviews but this place was so bad I couldn't help myself. The sister restaurant, the steak house, was great. Thank goodness the company I was with was great because this place was a nightmare!

Went here for a surprise birthday celebration that was planned out. The food here was on point, the waiters were friendly that brought in an extra vibe to the place. The only bad thing of any is its a little small but other then that I would recommend this place to someone along with going back there myself.

First time at this restaurant and I went with a good girlfriend of mine. It is an excellent choice, moreso than the big brother restaurant, Ricardo's which is overrated and obnoxiously loud. We were able to have great conversation, enjoy good music at decent and tolerable loudness and the food was DIVINE! For appetizers my friend had the baked clams and I had the ceviche. Both were great but hers was far better. I found the ceviche to be too much on the tangy side and I've had my share of ceviches, however, the seafood tasted fresh and it had delectable pieces of mango (although not enough) attempting to balance out the tanginess. For main entree, we both ordered the same Bass option which is to DIE FOR! It was cooked to perfection and the portions are great. For dessert, my friend had the fried banana with ice cream and she said it was more amazing than it looked (awful resemblance to male genitalia :-/ I didn't have dessert as I was on a Daniel fast :( Would definitely return!

It's my third time coming here and this last time was the worst and I will not be going back. Went to Ricardo's ocean grill with 6 friends. First, they don't have my reservation, then they tell me because we are a big group, we all have to order an appetizer and main dish. Mind you, we are the only people there. They take forever to get our drink order. Drinks were weak and then when question them about this appetizer and main meal demand, they tell me that those are the rules and there is nothing they can do for me. What if I don't want an appetizer? Too bad! We are literally the only people there, on a Sunday at 4:30/5pm. The Hennessy wings were just ok. Oysters were sandy and the drinks were weak. And to top it all off, they didn't honor the happy hour drinks even though it was posted on both their website and Instagram. Don't come here until they get their shit together. Go to the steakhouse instead. I'm Harlem all day but this is not acceptable!

Went to Ricardo Ocean Grill with two of my closest friends for a chill Monday night post-work dinner. It's a cute place with an interesting menu- overall I'd give it 3-3.5 stars.. potentially more if I actually go back. The original Ricardo's is better because there is more space. It seems that even though the venue is smaller (ie. Less patrons) the staff is rushing. Also the chicken pasta was not tasty. The steak, grilled shrimp, mash potatoes and crab cakes were good.

I'm a big fan of Ricardo Steak House so I was super excited to try out Ocean Grill for my birthday...I was surprised of how small this place actually is. Sits about 12-15 ppl. Overall food was ok, expected the menu to have a larger selection. Service however was great. Nice bartenders who sent me birthday shots all night. :)...Don't think ill be trading this in for the Steakhouse again though!

I've been M.I. A for the last few years (at first I lost my right foot then my left leg, just started to walk again after countless surgery's and physical therapy issues) know I'm finally getting back on my feet and going out to dinner again and hitting up great restaurants again. Well let me start off by saying what a surprise the evening was, great service followed by greater food. The night was to start at Ricardo Steak House, but with an hour wait (placed was packed with about a dozen people standing out front and me on crutches) we were told about the sister restaurant on 2nd avenue and 119thSt., and told it was a little more relaxed which was better for me anyway. After arriving at our destination we were kindly greeted by a young lady who also was our server. I noticed that the menu was different and they were more of a seafood restaurant than a steak house and in the end that was no problem. I had been in the mood for Calamari from the time I was told this is where we were going and was happy to see it on the menu BUT it was in a seafood mix, it wasn't the same, a little over cooked and that almost hit the spot, we also had the Hennessey wings which were surprisingly good. Now time for the Entrée's I had the Rib Eye cooked just like I asked with just the right amount of pink in the middle and that sauce ...HOT DAMN I was impressed, mashed potatoes were done up right and the green beans had just the right amount of bite and seasoning...bravo, I ate my veggies before touching my steak, job well done people. My friend Gabby had The Salmon Parmesan and John had The Chilean Sea Bass...both great choices as I now need to go back and have the seafood dishes (we shared with each other family style), both cooked very well and the portion sizes were large. We ordered the Flan to share for the table...it was a letdown, the caramel sauce had a bitter burnt after taste as if had been overcooked and then thinned out with more sugar so it could be saved and the flan itself was a bit dry so...you lose a quarter star for that, another quarter star for the overcooked Calamari, and you lose a half star (I started to make it a whole star) for adding an 18% gratuity to our check, I was a restaurant manager for 28 years you only do this for parties of 8 or more, not three people and I didn't say anything because they cheated themselves out of a few extra bucks because we thought the service was very good and was going to leave 20% and on the menu it says added gratuity for party of I think 6 or 8 I didn't pay that much attention as we were only a party of three and I know it didn't say three or more. I won't take off any stars for how loud the place was, even though it was a Friday night and it was only 5 tables in the house the women who were on the wall behind us were SO LOUD just screaming over each other because each one had to have the last word we could barely hear each other when they left you could hear a pen drop and that was with the music playing. Yea I'll be back, earlier in the evening and never on a ladies night.

This review is for the steakhouse: Really cool steak place near harlem on the upper east side. I had the filet and it was awesome and only $28 with 2 sides! Not only was the food great (and affordable) but the atmosphere is very cool. Its always really packed and a lot of folks come here for their birthday, where Ricardo's brings out a large sundae with sparklers and blasts the "Party like its your birthday" part of 50 cents "In the club." There must have been 5 birthdays when I was there.

This place is so tiny! But you knew that already. My home gal and I had stopped by Ricardo's Steak House on a Saturday night. The wait was an hour and a half. Expected! BUT no one was going to wait that long so we opted for the Ocean Grill. There were a hell of a lot of birthdays this evening so ever so often the music would cut off to some birthday themed songs like 2 Chainz "Birthday Song", Rihanna's "Birthday Cake" and 50 Cent's "In Da Club". It was cool at first but after awhile a bit annoying. I guess you can't help when people were born though. The food was just okay. I had the penne a la vodka with chicken. Pretty bland and nothing I will go into further detail about. A waiter came around and started giving everyone free shots which I thought was pretty cool. I don't drink much but I thought I'd down one. The music was a bit loud so I guess it's not the greatest place to have a deep conversation because you either can't hear who you're with or you're distracted because you begin to unknowingly twerk to Trinidad James in your seat. The crowd was... dusty. Hood. I don't live in Harlem but I think every neighborhood uptown has those establishments that make some people in the neighborhood feel like they're at the Ritz. Those places that will make someone who has never left their block in Harlem feel as though they're ballin' out of control. Yea. Ultimately, I don't think I'll be back here. However, our waiter was super attentive and personable. He had a smile on his face from the moment he greeted us! Which is always appreciated.

Never again. I'm rating for the terrible service not the food. Bad service and they over charge my Amex $26. WTF!!! And to top it off you can't get a hold of anyone there. Thank God for Amex customer service... You are better of going to the original Ricardo's. If you go and pay by CC be AWARE.... Check your statements...

Recently returned and was very pleasantly surprised. Garlic bread is still the bomb, but new management has made some changes: the ambiance is much more inviting, the music not so loud; the staff is more professional; and the service is better. I'd recommend sliding on by if you haven't been in a bit.

Service was superb. Food and drinks were great. My favorite was the appetizer. The calamari was delicious; and as for drink, my fav. hands down was the white sangria. One of the best sangria's I had. The surprise shot at the end was terrific. I must say not only were they attentive, but they made my special occasion even more special. Def a diamond in the rough in terms of neighborhood. Worth a try; highly recommend.

This place makes Ricardo Steakhouse feel like the damn White House...its very SMALL!! Oh well...moving right along...The food- I've been here twice. First time I had the tuna tartar and the Salmon...both very bland. The second time I went ( never thought I'd return) which was last night for my girlfriend's bday dinner, I ordered the snapper...it was all types of delicious. They've been redeemed.

Terrific little place, yummy food, great service and terrific drinks. Love Ricardos Steak House (same owners) but this is a quiet little gem that is a tad better for my waistline...

I came here with my fiancée, we had been meaning to try it. It was early in the evening and they seated us quickly. I should preface this review by saying I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant, and very picky about my food... I ordered the caprese salad with no dressing. And it came out covered in pepper. Ewww. Being that I asked for no dressing I was visibly annoyed by the "decoration". The bartender seeing that I was picking it off my plate, with my stank pregnant lady face, offered to replace the dish. And then I devoured it. My fiancée ordered, oysters, calamari, and the steak and mashed potatoes. He loved everything, I tried the calamari and mashed potatoes. And I thought it was also pretty good. I really wanted to try the salmon after seeing it on someone elses plate, it looked delicious, but avoided it due to my condition. The next time we come back, and we will, I will try it. Our server, who I blank on his name (sorry) was a sweetheart and very attentive and accommodating. The kitchen staff also sent us out a dessert to apologize for the "decoration" on my food. That was sweet of them, since it's not their fault that I can't deal with certain things on my food right now. Overall, we had a great experience, and intend to come back when I can try more things on the menu. We thought the décor was simple but cute. I loved the dark wood and exposed brick. It's a nice spot in a neighborhood that's thankfully changing for the better. The prices are a little high, but just for the neighborhood, Not if you compare it to a similar place in midtown or downtown. I don't understand people who think they should be paying less for good food because of the zip code. I really had no issue with the prices. As for the jerk commenting on people wearing wife beaters. This is STILL Spanish Harlem, and how certain LOCAL residents, that have been here for YEARS dress, has nothing to do with the establishment itself. Nor should it have anything to do with your review, since this isn't a "dress to impress" nightclub, but a LOCAL restaurant catering to ALL of the neighborhood residents; not just the self-righteous and entitled tools like you that gentrification brings up there. Keep your snobby biases to yourself.

Im allergic to seafood but still managed to have a lovely date here. I had the roasted potatoes and the parmesean asparagus and my date had the pork chops. My potatoes were so peppery and sooo good. The service was wonderful and we were even given a complimentary shot just for the heck of it. I forget the name of it but it was blue, sweet and delicious. We went on a Sunday evening and it was much more intimate than Ricardos Steak House which I have also grown to appreciate.

Went for dinner, was the only person in the restaurant. Ordered skirt steak medium, but was so overcooked and tough my jaws hurt halfway through it. The shrimp that came along side were so dry and chewy and smothered in some sour tasting concoction. I also ordered a double whiskey on the rocks and it was literally the smallest pour I've ever seen. The best part of the meal was the creamed spinach, and I don't really even like creamed spinach that much so that tells you something right there. And on top of all that they automatically add 18% gratuity to your check without telling you! That's fucking shiesty. I could see a party of 6 or more but I was solo. RICARDO....STEP YOUR GAME UP SON!!!!! The only reason it gets two stars is because my server was attentive.

We got encouraged to visit the Ocean Grill after a long wait at the Ricardos Steakhouse. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!! The skirt steak and the creamed spinach are A-MAZ-ING!!! I would thoroughly recommend these items and this restaurant to anyone wanting a steak dinner uptown.

We have been going there since they opened and have taken quite a few friends there. Food is always great and their passion fruit sangria is the best we have ever had. The only problem is the space is tiny and on a FRI/SAT night if you are not a fan of crowded and loud spaces, don't go.

Brought my mother here for Mothers' Day and we were not disappointed. For starters we ordered the crab cakes and it was very good. Not greasy at all and it came with this awesome sauce that made the dish even better. My mom ordered the Chilean sea bass and it was perfectly cooked; moist and flavorful. She did say there was too much butter but when i tried it I thought it was perfect; besides, you can never go wrong with butter. I had the scallops and they were also cooked to perfection but a bit on the salty side but amazing nevertheless. Both main dishes were presented well. I also got the chocolate cake w/ vanilla ice cream and it was very good and not overly sweet. As for drinks, I got the mango mojito which was great and a must try. And the service was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Overall a very good experience and this place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

The food is WONDERFUL and the service is great. My only complaint - the space is cramped. They should pull out a table or two so people are not on top of one another.

just reopened and loved it. I dined there on 5/10/12. Ther service and food was exceptional. I had the grilled surf tacos and they were to die for more. My friends had the crab cakes and one of the many cerviche offered and raved. It was so great to offer such high quality dining so close to home to out of town visitors. We drank mojitos and martinis and all wer fabulous.

Don't go here if you want to eat dinner. I had a reservation for 6 weeks and reconfirmed the Wedneday before. our party of 8 shows up on timeshow up on time on a Saturday night to find they have overbooked. We were told to wait 45 minutes but finally left after 90 minutes. Completely incompetent and unprofessional . Too bad for the neighborhood.

The food was pricey but worth every penny, delicious quality seafood is a rare thing to.come by in this city and Ricardo's delivers absolutely. Excellent drinks from the bar only real problem is the size of the restaurant, I suggest avoid going in large groups

Love this place!!! Hands down this is a great spot to enjoy food, drinks, and company!! Great menu selections for the seafood lover. Cocktails are fantastic. Now I have two locations to frequent. Ricardo's Ocean Grill and Ricardo's Steakhouse...excellent staff = fun times. Keep up the good work! The best hostess is Ms. Fiya.... Heart her!!!

I was pleasantly surprised. Had the skirt steak with mashed potatoes, grilled shrimps and sauteed spinach. It was absolutely delicious. A bit overpriced though, just like Ricardo's steakhouse. Service is pretty good. Although the bartender, (bar has enough seating for 2 people, yes, it's that tiny) was a bit annoying. Don't constantly look at your watch during happy hour everytime I order a drink and the sun is still out in the middle of fall dumbass! Good thing is they let you sit at their tables during happy hour. Wait staff very attentive and nice. I will return to this place. YES!!! AT HAPPY HOUR BITCH!

Fantastic food. It was worth the 10 minute wait for the table and we enjoyed some pretty tasty and strong sangria. We ordered a caprese salad, the chicken marsala and the pan seared tuna (medium). Everything was cooked and presented perfectly. The place is clean, cozy, quiet and just overall great place to eat and drink. I will definitely be returning.

Ok, I went to this place for dinner with a friend of mine. Our first impression was how small this place is but, nice vibe and it was almost full but not crowded. Drinks were missing something, strong because of the rum the mojitos had but no flavored at all as we asked for coconut mojitos; they were kind of sour creamy I don't know... Disappointing. The food was ok, some dishes kind of pricy for this place, and the small amount of food they offer. The food looks good but for 32 dollars you can get a better cut and portion of churrasco in another restaurant or churrascaria. Ceviche is good, not a big deal. Shrimp cocktail was really strange, like some BBQ sauce mixed with hot sauce 0_O I didn't like it. The salmon dish was oil soaked, even though I liked the purée and the salmon with asparagus, that bunch of oil made feel uncomfortable eating it. Roasted potatoes were dry, nothing special. Yellow plantains were just that. The service; it was good, very attentive ppl. The hostess gave us a table rightaway and the menus. A bartender/waitress who took our drinks/food orders. Another waiter that was asking if the food was ok when we were eating, and a busboy that keeps asking if we finished our food since the first moment to take the plates with him, walking around and making me feel like I was eating in a rush. FINALLY when we asked for the bill, it brings a nice 18% gratuity added to it, and the un satisfied hostess and the bartender asked us if we need our change, like $21 dollars weren't enough and they wanted to keep all! Come ON GIRLS!?? 2ppl, less than 1 hour there just eating and you guys want 40% as a tip just because!? I don't like when restaurants add gratuity to customers, and I know how much a service deserves or not. Besides that, it's a nice trap if you don't notice they added you the gratuity already and give them an extra $20/$30 when sometimes they don't deserve it. Not a big deal, but not coming back.

Just had a delicious dinner at Ricardo Ocean Grill! There's not much in the area and of the stores that are there, most were closed because it was Sunday. While not packed, there were several tables of people there while we ate. As others have mentioned, the place is small, but it's very comfortable and nice looking. To start we had the clams casino and an order of sweet plantains. Both were good. The plantains came with a sauce that was similar to frosting (sweet and delicious). For the main course we had the shrimp scampi linguine and the chilean sea bass. We actually ordered them both because the adjacent table had them and they looked great! (one person in our group had wanted the scallops but they were out). Both were delicious! They were both better than we had expected. We didn't have dessert but were very pleased with our meal and will definitely go back.

Had an awesome meal with my boyfriend for our anniversary. I had called ahead about a corkage fee for a bottle of wine as we had a special one for the occasion, it was an average fee, so no problem. The server seemed a little confused at first about the bottle but was happy to oblige. We started with the fried calamari and assorted seafood. I loved the sweet chili! Our entrees were the oarmasean crusted salmon for myself, which was wonderfully cooked if not slightly too salty. And the filet mignon for my partner. He said it was the best steak he had ever had and he ordered another glass of red as a compliment. The kind, though slightly clueless brought us complimentary dessert as he could tell we were having a special night. A wonderful and romantic anniversary dinner. Thank you!

More like 3.5 to 3.75 stars. We just moved up here from Murray Hill and let's just say that East Harlem is in need of restaurants. You can only eat from a bodega so much. My girl and I wanted to go out but stay in the neighborhood and we recalled seeing this place one day and decided to walk over there. Walking up to the place it just stands out because it's actually kinda cute so we were hopeful. It was about 9:45pm so we were sat immediately. The place is very nice inside. Quaint and still cool. Good music although the TV was on so that's a bit of a turnoff although the Nets were playing so I guess I can excuse that. Maybe. Nice drink menu. We didn't drink though. Wait I had a couple of beers. The food menu is small but very tight with a definite vision of who they are. The service was very good. Water immediately. The drink order, then garlic bread. (Tasty garlicky and warm). We ordered the Ricardo salad which was really very good! Simple clean flavors and they put cilantro in the salad greens which worked brilliantly. I've never had a salad with cilantro in it from a restaurant. My girl had the crusted salmon which was cooked very nicely and tasted really good. Her mashed potatoes were really good too. I had the pan seared red snapper. The flavors were bold yet simple. The mix of ingredients worked so well. Clams and mussels with cherry tomatoes and baby potatoes in a sweet (not too sweet) butter sauce. Probably pretty fattening but oh well. The portions are really big and the plating was really nice too. The only part where they dropped the ball was when we were done. The server didn't ask if we wanted dessert (we didn't but still. Upsell!) and I had to flag him down for the check. I guess this is good in a way too as they weren't rushing us out but still. Check in with your table after the table is done eating. All in all we were happy, surprised and relieved to find a local restaurant we call go to. We will definitely be back.

I am a fan of Ricardo's Ocean Grill. Although, small inside it is the best place to have a delicious steak meal and not be overwhelmed with a clubbing atmosphere. It's intimate although they do play music it is not like the other main site they have on second avenue that you cant even hear yourself think. Food is delicious. I recommend highly.

What a waste of time and stomach space. The food was heavy, oil-soaked, and expensive, and I've seen better, more attentive service at the DMV. At times, we were actually ignored. The restaurant is tiny, and the kitchen is extremely inflexible- the special menu on mother's day prevented us from ordering a simple salad.

This is place is THE BOMB DOT COM!!! We came here for my friend's birthday and the bartender brought the table a round of shots plus 4 shots for the birthday boy. They ambiance is relaxed and comfortable but a little upscale. The food is AMAZING and the people who work there are very nice and friendly.

Had a great early dinner on Saturday. Just an excellent experience - greeted so warmly by the hostess, and received similar treatment throughout our meal from the whole staff. Everyone's excited - the restaurant opened to the public just days ago. Make sure to call ahead - it's a very small place. We had a mix of appetizers (including amazing tuna tartare), beautiful avocado salad and I had just outstanding fish tacos. Don't miss the mango mojito, stellar. Don't be surprised - the music is on the loud side, and if you read reviews of the sister restaurant Ricardo Steak House, you'll get the picture. The food was definitely good, but the service and atmosphere really made it memorable for us. Thanks to the hostess and staff and congratulations on the opening. We'll be back!

Ok, I have been to this restaurant three times and I have only had one dish there- their chicken picatta dish- and it was excellent! However, I give this place a low grade because I discovered after the fact that they were not telling me, a party of one, that they were adding a 20% tip onto my check. So the couple times I had previously been there, I was double tipping and they were not telling me about it. The last time I was there, I caught it on the check and I was furious. Service with a smile but nevertheless deceptive. They told me their system was automatically entering the 20% tip which is irrelevant as their waiter should have informed me of this... but chose not to. So he was walking with a 40% tip the previous times I was there. Wow. After a lot of back-and-forth, they did comp my whole check but it nevertheless left a sour taste in my mouth. I had planned to take some people there but can't bring myself to...

On the eve of our vacation I decided to take bf to Ricardo's for a quick dinner since we're flying out to Dever at 5am and still need to pack. It was 9pm, and we found out that Ricardo's at 110th street was closed. A helpful staff gave us 2 drink tickets and directed us to the Ocean Grill. We walked few blocks to the Ocean grill just to see a big group of people outside. The wait staff - Leo? - was very attentive and friendly and she suggests we started with sangria. We waited for at least 30 min sipping sangria and coconut mojito - heavenly - and was seated as soon as the table opened. The wait staff was friendly and ensure that everyone had a drink. The place was packed but people seem having fun and relaxed. The service was not slow, but at this point we've already started with margaritas. We ordered a half dozen oysters, mango shrimp ceviche, and a pork chop. The food was delicious and well prepared. Oysters were fresh. mango shrimp was a-ok, but the pork chop was orgasmic. This is where it all went down: the wait staff dropped 2 tequila shots, 2 lemon squeeze, and 2 rounds of margaritas without us asking, and when it was time for check we were left with $118 - only - and 2 full glass of margaritas. We tumbled home at midnight and woke up next day at 5am, completely missing our flight. Granted, food was not affordable here. If I had known what was in store for us at Ocean Grill I wouldn't have brought bf over. However, I highly recommend this place for girlfriends' night out, birthday party, and anyone loving their alcohol & having a fun night. They sure know their alcohol and every sip was potent! Must try: coconut mojito.

Went with my mom, dad, and sis. Service was great - very attentive. Although, I can't imagine it being otherwise because the place is so tiny, it's hard for a server to miss the "come hither" face that a patron would give to beckon them over when needed. The dining room of the restaurant's literally the size of my living room...seriously (**insert straight-faced smiley here**). On to the meal - most of our dishes were right on the money. Calamari for an app - could've been a bit crispier but the flavor was great. I had the snapper, mom had the salmon, and dad/sis had the pork chops. When my snapper came out, I was super excited because it looked great, looked tender with a nice crispy skin which I love. Once I took a bite though, both the fish and the broth it was in was SUPER fishy. I was unpleasantly surprised....almost sent it back actually, but my mom's real big on not sending food back to the kitchen (**rolls eyes**). If she weren't there though, I definitely would've sent it back - no question. Luckily I was able to fill up on some of her salmon (which was perfect in taste and preparation), as well as my dad's pork chops which were really tender and flavorful. Would I be back? Maybe...but only if I can't get a reservation first at Ricardo's Steakhouse :/

Went here a few days ago with a couple of friends for dinner. The space is really small but the staff is very attentive.. and the food was really good. I would have said "great" but my fish was very, very salty.. but other that we had a great time here. Definitely recommend it!

We were redirected here when their steakhouse location was unable to take our reservation, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were welcomed warmly and really enjoyed the very diverse (in age, ethnicity, and style) crowd. The three of us shared two different ceviches to begin with, and both came in very generous portions and were absolutely delicious. I then had the salmon and my cousins had a seafood pasta; again, the portions were enormous and well-balanced, and detailed without being fussy or overwhelming. My fish, for example, had the perfect amount of pesto on it and then was served with ravioli which had a delicious lemon-butter sauce on it. Not only did the two blend beautifully, but when I was finished with my meal, my cousin refused to allow the waiter to remove my plate because she sopped up the remaining sauce with her bread - it was that good! Service was friendly and very accommodating, but there were a few glitches - to be expected in a place which had only been open for two days. The staff had some trouble trying to figure out to configure their tables to accommodate their customer groupings comfortably, and the waiter refilled my wine glass with water during the meal. I'm assuming that these are the types of problems which will sort themselves out quickly, and predict great success for this business.

All I can say is, welcome to the neighborhood!!! The food was awesome and the service was excellent. Berto our server was outstanding (ask for him if you go) and very hospitable. We had the Pan- seared scallops and the Coastal Special. The broth in the Coastal Special? Down-right sinful. Will definitely be frequenting this establishment, it's right down the block.

So happy to have this spot re-opened and seemingly doing well in the neighborhood. The food is excellent ... a bit pricey for the area, but well worth it. I most recently had ahi tuna that was seared to rare perfection and the ceviche was delish as well. The cocktails are outstanding (strong!) and they have a new sign advertising half-price drinks from 4 - 7PM for Happy Hour ... I need to get there in time to take advantage ASAP!

Beautiful Saturday night out in Harlem , would of never heard of ocean grill if it wasn't for the 2hour wait for the restaurant Ricardo's steak house and glad I was suggested to come here overall great ambience great service I like how the staff from the bartender , waitress, busboy and hostess were all working as a team , helpful and attentive and ready to suggest anything from the menu absolutely amazing food I will definitely be back soon. Must try the salmon parmesan definitely a great portion for the price and seasoned to perfection ,My partner had the Angus skirt steak wow very delicious . Great cocktails pear Cosmo I will highly recommend this restaurant to my friends .

Thank you!

I had been years ago and it was good. I had high hopes its a cute little hole in the wall. Had the grilled seafood platter and it wasnt fresh. Best thing I ate was the empanadas... Gross. Sad Ricardo's Steakhouse never disapoints.

Went to Ricardo Ocean Grill with two of my closest friends for a chill Monday night post-work dinner. It's a cute place with an interesting menu- overall I'd give it 3-3.5 stars.. potentially more if I actually go back.

The original Ricardo's is better because there is more space. It seems that even though the venue is smaller (ie. Less patrons) the staff is rushing. Also the chicken pasta was not tasty. The steak, grilled shrimp, mash potatoes and crab cakes were good.

  • Nick T.

We have been going there since they opened and have taken quite a few friends there. Food is always great and their passion fruit sangria is the best we have ever had. The only problem is the space is tiny and on a FRI/SAT night if you are not a fan of crowded and loud spaces, don't go.

Thank you!

The original Ricardo's is better because there is more space. It seems that even though the venue is smaller (ie. Less patrons) the staff is rushing. Also the chicken pasta was not tasty. The steak, grilled shrimp, mash potatoes and crab cakes were good.

Recently returned and was very pleasantly surprised. Garlic bread is still the bomb, but new management has made some changes: the ambiance is much more inviting, the music not so loud; the staff is more professional; and the service is better. I'd recommend sliding on by if you haven't been in a bit.

Went here a few days ago with a couple of friends for dinner. The space is really small but the staff is very attentive.. and the food was really good. I would have said "great" but my fish was very, very salty.. but other that we had a great time here. Definitely recommend it!

We have been going there since they opened and have taken quite a few friends there. Food is always great and their passion fruit sangria is the best we have ever had. The only problem is the space is tiny and on a FRI/SAT night if you are not a fan of crowded and loud spaces, don't go.

Overall a very good experience and this place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

just reopened and loved it.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
