Tried to order the pasta and they only carry two types, one being a wheat pasta. I know that this is a hotel, but you would think they would at least carry a penne or just straight spaghetti. Needs to say it was a disappoint and had to order take out.

This is a review for a 3.5 rating. EJ's is a restaurant located inside the Rochester Airport Marriott. Basic American fare at your usual hotel-restaurant prices. We ordered burgers, Tex-Mex and EJ's original, which were both very tasty. I loved the Avocado and pepper jack on mine, and the EJ's original had great flavor as well. Our orders came with a pickle and some fries. *Portion size here is huge. My BF and I could have easily split one burger. We sat in the bar/lounge area to eat, and the service was great! Would come back again if we ever stayed at this hotel in the future.

We have come to EJ's in the Rochester Airport Marriott for a number of years. I think it was called Images for a while but perhaps the restaurant and the bar/lounge are now called the same thing. Regardless, this review is for the only restaurant in this very lovely hotel. Upon walking into the main lobby, there is a hall to the right that is walled on one side with large wine racks, and the other side is the entrance to the bar/lounge. Straight ahead is the door to the restaurant and there is a specials menu adjacent to the door. As you enter, there are several areas for seating. To the left are a couple of steps up to a few booths and tables. Straight ahead are a few more tables and to the right are booths and tables. I estimate up to 60 or more patrons can sit very comfortably here at a time without too much noise. The seating is arranged so there is ample space between tables. I notice an unused buffet-style area that is possibly for their breakfast or brunch but I have not yet had that. The lighting is considerably brighter than what it used to be. The walls are an off white or cream color, maybe even a light beige (sorry I'm not an artist lol). The decor is contemporary with boldly colored lights and decorations. The paintings that adorn the walls give a classy, yet relaxed atmosphere. The chairs are more comfortable than most other restaurants. I also notice that the tables are maybe an inch or two lower than most places. Very interesting indeed. The floor is entirely carpeted with wavy bold colored patterns. The menu is your classic contemporary American fare that ranges from sandwiches to salmon or filet mignon. There are some appetizer options but we did not order any. I noticed a quesadilla, soups, salads, wings, and other typical appetizers for a buck or two more than other places. The main menu had a turkey blt, the Marriott burger, braised short ribs, some pasta dishes, filet, salmon, a veggie burger, and some other options I do not remember. They had some specials as well such as a chicken and veggie wrap and red snapper. I ordered the Marriott burger, which came fully dressed on a roll. I got the fruit bowl instead of fries, which was actually quite impressive. It contained cantaloupe, honeydew, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and pineapple. Much more than I had expected. I ordered the burger well done but it came medium well, which is still acceptable to me. My fiancée and my mom both got the turkey blt, which they enjoyed thoroughly and commented that the lemon mayo was a very nice twist, and my dad got the French dip. He was pleased as well, especially because the Au jus was not salty like many other places tend to be. We did not order dessert or drinks (we rarely do when we go out) so I cannot comment on either. Glancing through the wine list, though, it doesn't look like there are too many selections, but there are a few reds, whites, and champagnes from which to choose. The service was ok, but nothing spectacular. We were promptly served dinner rolls and butter when seated. My water glass was kept full, only a few times did it stay empty. The waitress was attentive, albeit a little disorganized, but it didn't take away from my experience there. She was friendly and packed up our leftovers for us too. As far as value and pricing is concerned, you can be as cheap or as expensive as you want. The burger was $11 and the blt $10. But you can get the salmon $23 or the pasta dishes which were around $15-19. We usually don't get drinks, appetizers, or desserts when we go out so we keep it at the entree pricing but you can easily push it to over $50 per person if you go all out. Overall, I think this restaurant is a fine place to eat. The food quality is good and consistent and the service is ok. I wouldn't say it's fine dining per se, but the atmosphere might be worth it if you're looking for something that is calmer with a touch of contemporary elegance. I think 3.75 would be a fair rating for this place and I do plan on coming back in the future.

Restaurant empty on a Wednesday night. Waited at the bar for 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge me, and take a drink order(1 of two people at the bar). Ordered Zesty Parmesan Chicken Wings as an appetizer and they were out. Surprised that a hotel restaurant was out of chicken wings. Ordered the Italian Wedding Soup and it came 15 minutes later - hot, and fresh vegetables with Parmesan but lacked salt and was a little bland. Crispy shrimp was good, but nothing special - sauce was good. Trouble I had mostly was service - at 8:25 they servers were interested in cleaning and shutting down and not working to make sure I was having a good experience. I had to wait for service/drinks/food because they were preoccupied with shutting down. Two stars was a fair review. I could have had a better meal at Lone-star Steakhouse across the street. I won't come back given other choices in the area.

I've been to EJ's three times now. Once before they renovated and twice after the renovation. The decor is wonderful. Lots of gold and beige with splashes of bright colors here and there. Kind of a warm contemporary feel. It is quiet and relaxing. A great place to go to eat great food and talk. The service, when I have been there, has always been great. The servers are welcoming and friendly. They serve complimentary hot rolls with whipped butter. Yum! The menu is small. Everything including appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts fit on one page. This place is kind of pricey but, hey, it's a three star hotel restaurant. I expected that it would be pricey. An entree costs anywhere from $10-30. It is expensive but the food is great! They don't serve anything that you think would be fantastic but it is!! For example, I had the turkey blt. But this is no ordinary sandwich. It is served on toasted sourdough bread with this amazing lemon and herb mayonnaise that takes the sandwich to a whole other level. And they didn't skimp out on the bacon either! I don't know why this place has been getting such low reviews. Maybe I'm just not a picky eater at all but I thought the food, service, and atmosphere were great. I gave 4/5 stars because it is a little over priced.
