Great sushi! Really impressed especially in this small town. I had the Remington sushi roll, so fresh and delicious. Can't wait to come back. Great place and friendly staff.

Considering we are in the middle of no where in a small mining town this place has out done its self as far as I'm concerned. Sushi is my favorite all time food and I have been to lots of different restaurants in California. Would they be able to compare to the big city or ocean side sushi bars?.. No, but for what they have to work with they have done very well! I have no complaints considering all odds against them! My husband and I have been going to the Crazy Tuna at least once a month for about 5 months now. Every time we come in we are greeted by a very friendly waitress(sometimes I think the owner waitresses also) and usually able to get a seat without a wait. We also order takeout which I noticed as of recently is probably a good thing because this place is really hoppin more often then not. We agree that that is a good sign as that means the fish is always fresh :) About a month ago we tried the GHOST PEPPER OIL! Oh my goodness...this is not for everyone. If you daily use Habanero sauce(we do) on your food then and only then do I recommend you try this. I cried, not because it was painful or I had a choice but because that was just how my body decided to react to a few drops on one slice of a roll. My husband took it like a champ. It is a experience I will not soon forget. Yum!

I love this place. The staff are great and the food is delicious. I never thought we'd get awesome, fresh sushi out here and they've been doing it right for over a year. The prices are comparable to other sushi bars I've been to in other towns, but since it's a smaller establishment you are afforded fast service from an attentive staff who are able to serve you right away. I cannot recommend it enough to sushi fans or fans of Japanese food in general! They have plenty of other menu options if sushi isn't your thing. Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Best place in our geographically nowhere town! Great sushi and great atmosphere!

Man I Love This Place! Always great food, the owner is awesome and always friendly atmosphere. There is never enough Tucks for those hemorrhoids that come stumbling in from time to time but as for me. When I have company and would like a bite out, this place is it!

Been here twice now. Both times were great. Usually when I go to sushi it's a "group" experience, sharing of many different rolls to maximize the variety. But it's not really possible with coworkers. So even though I wasn't able to have a large variety of rolls, the rolls that I did have were top shelf. The flavors were fresh, I love the inclusion of cilantro. The three rolls I had were the Pura Vita, Santa Rosa and the Sonoma. Nothing was "off" at all about these and the Santa Rosa was a great roll. I would totally recommend that one. Tonight the place was hopping. Very busy. Maybe on Tuesdays it's a little busier because of the pent up demand from Sunday and Monday being closed. But either way it's great to see this type of business succeeding. If you like sushi....don't fear eating here. It's quality. Plus the gal who seems to be the owner seems to be really really interested in making this place a quality establishment. If only more places took this attitude.

Refuse to pay the amount of money this establishment wants for a meal that I can't believe to be somewhat fresh, especially considering this restaurant is in the middle of geographically nowhere. UPDATE- I've received numerous responses to my review that have included both threats and childish name-calling. It's a shame that the local townsfolk can't take honest criticism. Apparently one must use caution when offering up feedback concerning any and all restaurants/businesses in this town.

This place is one of the few bright spots for food in Winnemucca. We go pretty regularly (2-3 times per month) for lunch. They are definitely getting better on the service and the rolls more consistent since when they first opened. You need to experiment a bit to see what you like here. I find the eel sauce to be a tad thicker & sweeter than I like but that's personal preference. The vegetarian roll is EXCELLENT (warm tempura battered vegetables including asparagus with a touch of cream cheese) as are the spicy tuna rolls. Crab is 'krab' but that seems to be true in even the best sushi places in NW Nevada so I just ask them to leave it out, which they are happy to do. When they first opened, it was tough to get them to make custom rolls or modify the rolls on the menu but now that everyone is finding their groove it's not a problem. This is, oddly, one of the only kid-friendly sushi places I've ever been to. They even serve drinks to kids in lidded cups with a straw cut down to size. Also, it's not on the menu but you can order a (very tasty even for adults!) 'kids meal' of tempura-battered chicken strips with plain rice. If you haven't tried it yet, do it! We need to keep this place open! UPDATE: While I still really like this place, they have REALLY raised their prices. The all-you-can-eat lunch is now $28 for LUNCH! And they added a 5-roll limit to it. While I understand the need to make a profit, unfortunately they just priced themselves out of anything I can justify. Even the 'kids meals' start at over $8. Over $30 per person for lunch (assuming you have an iced tea or soda) before tip is too hard to justify. Bummer.

A wonderful addition to our little town! The Crazy Tuna holds its own against the "Big City Sushi restaurants." The all you can eat is definitely worth it and the sake is finger tingling good! I'll continue to make this a regular spot for as long as they stick around.

On my second visit here I was greeted by a sushi chef who was coughing and obviously sick. I told her she should not be working sick and excused myself from the restaurant. This is very opposite of my last visit. There will not be a third, allowing sick chefs to prepare sushi !
