I've gone three times and each time was phenomenal. The chickpea wrap is my favorite. My husband loves the fries avocado and classic burger. Their grinch fries are crisp and flavorful. Tonight for dinner I had their portobello wrap with sweet potato fries. It was mouth wateringly good and they made extra effort to make my whole meal vegan. My youngest had the macaroni and bacon. He ate the entire bowl. It came out creamy with real cheese stringing out of every bite. My oldest got the rib eye and loved it. The shishito pepper appetizer was done just right with a hint of lime and chipotle. We had two orders of that. The wait staff was very patient with all of my annoying vegan food questions and they were great with our kids. I cannot wait to go back.

While the kids were in town, we decided to find something to eat... I remembered seeing reviews on Midtown Eats, so we thought we would check them out. I love the décor inside, especially the lights over the bar. The one thing that threw me off was how small the place is. It was... cozy. We were seated and given 2 carafes of water for our table, I was glad to have it because it was so hot outside, but was disappointed when the water turned out to be room temperature. I can't stand warm water, I need ice (I'm weird like that). I was too embarrassed to ask for it though, because that's how it appears everyone was drinking it, so I said nothing and sipped on a glass I never finished. This was my fault, not theirs. I could have asked for ice (I'm sure), but chose to keep my mouth shut instead. My daughter and I shared the classic burger with bacon added to it, and sweet potato fries with a garlic aioli dipping sauce. The burger was good, nothing hugely special about it. The garlic aioli sauce was ok. Those sweet potato fries though? CLEARLY the star of the show!! They were cooked like I've never had them before... nice and crispy on the outside, the way a perfect French fry should be and like I've never seen anyone do a sweet potato fry before! Every other place I've had them, they've been kind of soggy, floppy, nothing special and almost worth forgetting. Not here!! Nope!! Nice Job!!!! My son-in-law ordered the Elk burger with a side salad. He said the salad was just arugula lettuce with a vinaigrette on it that was heavy on the oil and very over salted... he probably wouldn't order that again. But he did say the burger was amazing!! My son shared a BLT with my granddaughter, and neither one of them complained. From what I saw it looked really good, and the bacon looked thick and perfectly crisp. :-) All in all, it was a nice stop and I'm glad we checked them out... but I probably won't go back, only because it's not going to be worth going in for sweet potato fries alone.

Limited menu, but that's nice. A few starters, three salads and assorted burgers- lamb, bison, elk and classic. No reason to pour hours over food decisions. Just give a few great ones. Classic burger was cooked to order and filling. The Cobb salad had lots of cheese, bacon and fresh avocados in it. And the RIGHT amount of dressing. Burgers ranged from $12-15. All the flavors were great. Will go back and try other food. I was advised to try the brunch menu it is quite good. Drinks prices I felt were a little high. I'll hit happy hour first then come in and eat. Service was nice. Décor eclectic- nice use of recycled materials. I hear they will be moving around the corner soon so make sure you stop in and give them a try

When I ate meat I loved there burgers. I ate at this place about five times while in town for burningman. They only messed up my burger once that's good, one out of five.

So...I've been wanting to eat at this midtown haunt. Unfortunately this small eatery (seats approx 36 people...yeah I counted, go figure) is always busy when we pass by. This past Sunday we dropped our son off for basketball practice and went looking for dinner. As we entered Midtown on Virginia we noticed lots of parking in front (never happens). So we stopped and found Midtown Eats to be very quit yet open. Details: Go on Sunday night to enjoy a very intimate vibe. It's laid back and it's Burger Nite. The menu is all about the patty. I got the Bison BBQ burger (see pics). I'm not a big burger guy but this patty was from heaven!! The kitchen experiments which I suggest you try what they are concocting because these guys are good. I try the experimental fried bread pudding w caramel sauce!! Enjoy the pic because the plate was left clean. If you love a little quiet time with the spouse or friends. Try burger night. You won't be disappointed

What a cool place! We always drive by this restaurant and try to get in but it is always slammed. We hit the jackpot last night and arrived at the right time to get a table! First of all I love the decor. The space is very intimate (i'd say around 20 tables) and a great bar. The vibe I got while visiting was total chill. Distressed tables, cool lighting, and the music made it a perfect spot for a unexpected date night. Our servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. They boasted a great cocktail menu that we will have to try on a night we aren't hauling the teenager. Sunday nights is Burger night and while it wasn't what I planned on eating, it was a pleasant surprise! Bison Burgers, Elk, and the classic were just a few on the menu. Hubby had the Bison, and said it was one of the best he has had in forever. I did the classic, which was cooked to perfection and served with a really tasty homemade spread. Hubby finished the night with homemade deep fried banana bread pudding....heaven! The dessert was moist and was packed with flavors. Definitely adding this location to our favorite mid-town restaurants.

The food is awful. I say awful. I ordered the Midtown Benedict, the hollandaise tasted more like vinegar and was unpalatable and while I had two eggs I am still not sure how they came out different. One egg was cooked to the point of soft boiled and the other was slightly undercooked. My friend had something with sausage, he being a wonderful friend said try this its terrible. I argued and I was right, the sausage was covered in seasoning but it was not cooked in so when it was cooked there was no flavor just a crust of flavorless herbs. Next lets talk about the prices the prices are too high for the portion size and the quality as well as the service. The water comes in a carafe served at room temperature while the $4 per 12oz cup orange juice is occupied by half a glass of ice. The service is so slow that I believe this is part of the reason the restaurant looked half full. The people that were there may have been left over from the day before. I have one last comment. This is about the staff, I have never seen women try so hard and put on so much makeup to look so plain and please wear shirts that cover your arm pits. Shaved or NOT I don't think that working around food you should be letting that happen.

I am updating my review from 2012 because my latest dinner experience was beyond good, it was fantastic. I had a vegetable pasta plate and added chicken breast, I hadn't seen it on the menu before. The menu rotates quite often and is small, but there WILL be something you like on there. Every detail of my dish was a 10/10, the chicken was moist and flavored well, the noodles al dente, the veggies cooked to crunch. Wife had the house burger which blows all other burgers out of the water - as in other burgers are sandwiches with ground meat, this thang was a delicious burger made by someone who obviously knows how to make a burger. Another thing I like is having dranks with dinner. So much so that sometimes I'll go to a place that has killer drinks, but not great food. This is one of those places where both are equally creative and delicious. Don't be freaked out when you get there on a Friday or Saturday and the place is packed - hang out and wait for a table, everyone is nice and you've been eating by yourselves for way to long anyway.

I love, love this place. The place is consistently good, from their burgers to their sandwiches to their snacks. You feel like you've stepped into a rustic, steam punk-esque location where your water comes from a mason jar. The lighting is very good and it's never too crowded feeling. I wouldn't go here for a dinner, but would come back for lunches. Their service is fantastic and the food comes speedy. Their selection is a bit limited. Just as good as the place look, Midtown Eats reiterates its uniqueness and quality by how great the food is. Their sweet potato fries is a must and I love their varying snacks. All in all, it's a great place to get together with friends for a nice lunch or snack with great waiters and a lot of beverages to choose from.

Love the rustic decor and speak easy trendy theme! The mushroom soup was the best I have ever tasted! Baba ghanoush, which I usually don't like and usually end up wanting to spit out was super flavorful! Spinach salad was refreshing! We got the plan Mac and Cheese, probably better with the bacon for the added salt. The oatmeal stout on tap is rich, full, creamy, with some subtle coffee notes! A must try!

Good place. Hipster. I had the elk burger. Entrees were expensive at around $25. Service was very good. I would go again.

I hate to give a one-star review for a tasty meal, but the service my husband and I just experienced at brunch was horrible. It started when we entered. We were not greeted at the door. The waitress led us to the table, without a word of welcome, and tossed down our menus. No mention of any brunch specials; we were left to figure that out on our own. We were also left to figure out what the white shavings were on top of my husband's bloody mary--they were horseradish. The two wait staff was too busy talking to each other to check in on tables or give any explanation for the food. Halfway through our meal, my husband ordered a second bloody mary. Suddenly, the wait staff was quick to get us our check. Because it was crowded with a line out the door? No: only five or six tables were occupied. Most shocking: after we had paid, while my husband was still finishing his bloody mary, the waiter TOOK THE CREDIT CARD RECEIPT WITH TIP FROM OUR TABLE! That has never happened to me in a restaurant before. Perhaps shocked at the amount of my tip (15% because of the subpar service we experienced throughout our meal), the wait staff then congregated in deep discussion in their corner of the restaurant. There was no "thank you" upon exiting. Sorry to say, we loved the food but will not be returning to Midtown Eats anytime soon. Very disappointed.

One of the top restaurants in Reno. I go up to reno almost once a month and this is a great place to dine. Great selection of liquor, burgers (atomic is my favorite) and good atmosphere. It's a bit off the strip in midtown on Virginia street just south of the main strip. Would recommend to anybody who's not looking for $4.99 steak and eggs or buffet.

Delicious!!! I had the best macaroni and cheese ever with an arugula salad definitely recommend it. Great service and beautiful decor definitely recommend it!

A friend & I got in to Reno a little before noon and were ready for a lunch. I jumped on Yelp and found this nearby. Since we were there early, we didn't have the crowds to contend with, but they were right behind us. This is a small place and I can tell from the reviews, it can be hard to get a seat. I had the Classic Burger and a local beer. I can't remember what my friend had, but he did order a side of Blistered Shishito Peppers. The burger was very good. I couldn't have been pleased more. The peppers were good, too. He thought they were too hot, but I found them just right. Now, here's the deal and I'm not that frugal and I realize we had 3 beers (total, 1 for me, 2 for my friend), but $50 for lunch is too much. The food was great and the beer selection of local craft beers was good. But the burgers are $12 and the beers were very pricey.

Excellent! Quaint with nice ambiance. Food very fresh and interesting. Had a late lunch so I ordered the Atomic burger and my wife had the Classic, both cooked to perfection. Looking forward to going back for dinner.

I went here about a week ago for the first time and I was extremely impressed! I had a burger with some sweet potato fries and I can easily say that they were the best sweet potato fries I have ever had in my entire life. We were able to eat outside because it was a nice day and the servers were very nice and attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking to try something new!

Small menu for a small joint Beware of Hipsters. Mason jars are the glassware of choice at this yummt little spot. The menu is sparse, but who needs a big menu when you make burgers this good? The service was friendly and inviting. My only issue (because I always have to find an issue) was a wobbly table (second one in on the left to be exact). It's joints like this that make me think of moving to Reno.

We had breakfast. It was very, very good. We had a party of 9 we ordered many different items on the menu. Everyone really enjoyed our meal. We ordered drinks all hand crafted and very delicious. I would not hesitate to eat here again when we are in town.

Came here for Sunday brunch. It was surprisingly not crowded for how tasty it was! I had the hash of the day which ha chorizo and jalepenos homg. So tasty! The meat was soooo juicy and good! It reminded me of portland. Great job Reno

WOW, What a great find! Katie was our server ( what a looker! ) she was sharp & very funny. We came in for a quick bite, ordering tempura okra as our app- I wasn't overly impressed with the sauce they gave, but okras delicious. For our entrees, he opted for the healthier option of the Butterleaf Cobb salad, and I indulged in the Osso Buco. I can't speak for the salad, but the Osso Buco was phenomenal!! I'll definitely be back for lunch, maybe even brunch.

Love this place! We are brand new to the area, and had dinner here based on a recommendation. I loved the atmosphere - the cute mason jars they used as glasses as well as mood lighting really added to the experience. The service was fantastic! Food was amazing - best sweet potato fries I have ever had. Their portobello mushroom burger was delish, and my husband enjoyed his real burger as well. Great drink selection - we are definitely coming back here! Felt like it was a little piece of San Francisco brought into Reno, without the crowds and long wait to get a table.

This was my second visit, and we won't be back, dined Monday August 25 at 1:30pm This time I ordered the Turkey & Bacon Sandwich for $13 which took 25 minutes. The flavor was good, but where in the hell was the meat?? Seriously is was about 2.5oz, 3 small slices. I wanted to sub my fries for their mac and cheese that people rave about, which was a $4 up charge. Well there was practically no cheese sauce, just macaroni. So not worth $17, you can have it hipsters.

Food here is really good. Was looking for a place to eat since we didn't want to eat buffet food. Found this place through yelp. Got the lamb burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was really good. Juicy, right amount of seasoning, all the extras complimented the burger really well and it didn't have the gamey lamb taste either. Sweet potato fries were really good while they were hot. Tried the Mac-N-Cheese and that was pretty good... didn't seem like there was enough cheese though... but it's still worth giving it a try. My friends tried the bison burger and the atomic burger and they said it was really good too. Overall, food was good, service was good, and the place was clean. Kind of wish they put ice in the jugs of water they gave us instead of drinking it at room temperature. Place is pretty dark too... I would appreciate it more had it been a bit brighter... but that's just my personal preference. Worth giving this place a shot if you're in reno and you're tired of eating at the buffets!

The ambiance is nice and the drinks are good. Food is good but is overpriced. The service was not good. This is definitely not a place to bring a larger party as I did for my birthday. I had a party of 9. Most restaurants separate checks now a days, after all you will end up with a better tip :) Once we managed to figure out the bill, they screwed it up. We ended up waiting them to figure it out for like 45 minutes... Ughh I would only go back for the drinks, and with a much smaller party! Overall, I was kind of disappointed...

I heard great things about this place so I tried it. Not impressed. It's too small for a restaurant to be comfortable, not relaxing, and the employees were not friendly. No smiles at all. Three bartender was snarky in fact. Food was decent but nothing outstanding. Mac and cheese with bacon was good, falafel was just ok. It's a little pricey too, which I don't mind, if it has everything else too, this place doesn't.

I went back and forth on how to rate this place, because the food and cocktails were excellent, and the staff was nice/polite. But the service (in terms of attentiveness, efficiency, responsiveness) was atrocious. It starts with the fact that you walk in and no one greets you at the door. You have to make your way to the bar to find someone to talk to and ask about a table, or find the list of people hidden at the front and realize you have to put your own name on it. Once we did that, the waiter couldn't tell us about how long it would be before we got a table. OK... So we ordered drinks, and they were out of white rum, and I had to order something different. Fine, it happens. Then we hung out outside for probably a half hour, watching in confusion as several tables left, and they were slowly cleared and reset. Then they were very slowwwwwwwwly filled with the many groups of people who were waiting for a table (or, at least, those who hadn't given up and left). I really did not understand their system -- I don't think they have one? No one is bussing the tables, and the two waiters responsible for a tiny restaurant just can't seem to handle all the work. We finished our first drink long before we sat. Then they quickly brought waters and silverware, and we ordered quickly, knowing it would probably take forever to get our food and get out of there (mind you, we'd already been waiting there close to an hour at this point, and it was after 9.) We also ordered another round of drinks that we later had to go ask for, because they thought we already got them? I dunno. The food arrived and it was delicious. The drinks were yummy. When we DID manage to get someone's attention, the staff was nice. But I just cannot understand/explain the complete chaos and lack of efficiency that I was seeing all.night.long. It took us more than two hours to eat there from start to finish, and all we had were burgers. I just don't see any reason for that.

I used to come to Midtown all the time, after living out of the area I was so excited to come back and visit one of my favorite spots. Needless to say I've never been more disappointed. The service was extremely slow, it took 45 min to get our appetizers alone, the waiter didn't even bring us some of re drinks we ordered, there was no communication with our group or table as to what the wait was, and after the two and a half hour meal that should have only taken 1, the waiter refused to split our check because he wanted to be able to add the auto gratuity. It was slightly busy but our waiter spent more time talking at the bar to his co workers, rather than seating the waiting customers or getting us our drinks in shorter than 15 min. I used to not care about the high prices, but I'm sad to say I will not be coming back, I was very disappointed one of my favorite places has sunk so low.

Omg! Ate here twice in one week, and it's officially my favorite restaurant in Reno! I've lived here for 16 years, so I've tried a lot of restaurants in Reno and this is by far my favorite! First of all, the ambience is incredible! It's very laid back, and reminds me a lot of where I'm from which is Southern California!(: the people who work there are super chill, and really sweet! Then there's the food which is absolutely delicious, and the prices are just right! The only downside is that it gets really busy, you might have to wait a while to get seating! But this place is so worth it!

Highly recommended! Beautiful sunny day, seats outside, great atmosphere inside as well. Service was good and food was great! I had the Tempura Portobello Mushroom Burger... fantastic! The light crispy tempura added a very nice texture to the portobello and was cooked just right... meaning not greasy or heavy. And my husband had the Atomic Burger and enjoyed it as well. He ordered his medium rare and said it was cooked just right for a med rare burger and was grilled to have a nice "crust" on the outside of the burger. Buns were just also good.. not gummy, not oversized for the sandwich (which is a pet peeve) and lent nicely to the flavors within the burgers. The sweet potato fries were great and actually had a crisp to them which is hard to do with sweet potato fries. Great drinks as well... I tried the Moulin Rouge which had a wonderful light refreshing citrus taste to it. We will return and recommend it to friends.. AND try out some of those yummy sounding appetizers!

Midtown Eats night be on the expensive side, but it's definitely worth it! This is a small place with a small menu, but everything is delicious. It's a nice place to have lunch with a friend, without being too stuffy.

Best burger I ever had (chef's burger). Order it like it comes. You choose the cheese, but don't interfere with art. I recommend the Roquefort. Don't do anything more than medium, preferably med-rare. It's good beef. Ordering it well done insults the chef, the rancher, and the cow. Bon appetite. Fries are off the chain.

The food is good and that's why I go back but the customer service is strange at best. Don't expect to be wowed! I've been in the restaurant business for 30 years and I'd like to think of myself as a pretty forgiving and completely understanding person when it comes to servers, bartenders and the kitchen but my consistent experience here is a bit challenging to explain. They're not doing anything wrong as much as they fail to get some very critical business practices right. There's a sign on the door that says wait to be seated but whenever I've walk into this tiny little 10/12 table restaurant, it's like pulling teeth to get acknowledged, It's strange! I'll stand there trying to make eye contact until I eventually have to greet them in order to get their attention so I can show myself to my table. One time I can understand...4 times....Boggling! It seems to me that the atmosphere here is Uber hip, slick and cool and so are the servers and bartenders. They will eventually get around to looking up to say hello and eventually get around to getting to your table and eventually get around to taking your order. But...Eventually, the level of immaturity shows up as mistakes which are another common problem I've encountered when dining at this establishment with such a lackadaisical service style. They don't remember shit and if they do they forget it by the time they need to communicate it to the kitchen. I guess it would just be nice to feel like you not imposing on them by walking through the doors because their food is good and the place is quaint. It's got a lot going for it if the service style doesn't kill it.

The location is good, the food wasn't great but wasn't bad. Limited selections, which is good for people who can't choose. I liked the shishito peppers. If you're GF or V, find another place. Very nice feel to the place.

Excellent service. The waiter kept unintentionally sneaking up on my dinner date, so that was pretty interesting. I'd be expecting a refill on my water, and right as he'd get to the table, she would nearly shriek. Every. Time. I found it highly amusing. Seriously though, the water never went unfilled. I had the Atomic Burger, which was awesome! It was spicy -- not too spicy -- but it definitely had some heat. My date had the pork chop which was also very tasty. I like that all of the meat comes from local, sustainable farms where the animals lead happy, fulfilling lives before becoming my dinner. Prices were about what I would expect for the level of service and quality of food. The two of us ate for about $50 with tip and without drinks.

Went there this morning with such high hopes!!!..... Not crowded at all... My eggs Bennie were almost cold and had sooooo much holindase sauce it was like soup! My husband ordered a side of sausage and it came on a bed of wilted arugula and it was thinner than a McDonald patty with no taste what so ever.... Dry as a bone .... The female server was sweet..... Period..BAD

This is probably my favorite place to eat in Reno. Its pricey, especially with cocktails, but damn if I won't support one of the best establishments in town. Their buffalo burger and lamb burger are my favorites, but they also have a wonderful daily specials too. I don't drink very often but I always splurge on their cocktails. My boyfriend and I usually go on payday. I think its worth every dollar. I have only ever been for lunch and dinner. Sweet potato fries are delicious! Never had a bad meal or experience there.

Amazing burgers in hipster Reno. I was in town for a business trip and a fellow co-worker brought me here. I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect in Reno, which always feels like I've hopped a ride with Marty Mcfly. So we landed at this quaint, intimate restaurant that I soon fell in love with. The decor was rustic in a way it made me feel like I was in Seattle. When I got a hold of the menu I was AMAZED that they had a grass-fed beef burger on the menu. IN RENO! Needless to say, it was delicious, along with the sweet potato fries. And if you're looking for an appetizer, ask for the blistered shishito peppers - you won't know when to stop eating them. (To be fair about Reno, I quickly fell in love with this retro town)

I have been here twice for Sunday brunch. The first time I got the eggs benedict- pretty good. This last time I got the croque-madame with sweet potato fries. It was delicious. The sandwich has ham, gruyere, a creamy sauce and a sunnyside egg. It was huge and had to be eaten with a fork and knife. The sweet fries were amazing and served with a spicy sauce. I would definitely recommend them over their home fries. I love the look and feel of the place, it's really tiny but cute and cozy. I'll definitely be returning for Sunday brunch or weekday lunch!

Well it's been a few months and I have been a number of times since then. I'm afraid that it's even better than I thought. This last time we went, it was for the Brunch. If you found this review because you put in "Brunch" for a sunday..go here. Don't him and haw, don't "well...maybe we..." just get your feet moving in the direction of Midtown Eats. You will be uh-mazed at the quality of your food and you will walk out, wishing you could pay me for my awesome advice. Do you drink? Do you drink Bloody Mary's? Have you had a "fresh" bloody mary with fresh juice instead of bottled or canned? If so..then you will have the best one you have ever had here. If not..it will be a new...less salt more flavor experience. Love the Burgers. Honestly....within my experience circle this is definitely the best "All Around" restaurant in Reno. If friends come into town and are into food. I will take them here. If the Layover guy crashes his plane in Reno for 24 hours. I will find him and drag his arrogant butt over to Midtown Eats. So do yourself a solid and get some food at Midtown Eats. ......... Dang I wish they were open on Sunday nights....

Midtown Eats while the food is good and serves good drinks, they are vastly overpriced! The real turnoff of Midtown Eats is the horrible, disorganized service. Plenty of negative points for a bartender that shows his crack every time he bends over.

Never knew how much I like American (new) food. Went here last nite.. Had elk burger... Tender and juicy but not "elky".. Whatever elk is supposed to taste like?? Mushroom soup was simple as if literally gathered and blended. Rainbow cauliflower was crunchy and light. Water in mason jars... Menu and bill presented on recycled cardboards... Reason not 5 stars is bc the music is SO loud to me (though I get it's the hip vibe they're going for rather than the farm vibe). First time I had to yell at the waitress!!, but they didn't mind, they're so friendly.

This place has interesting burgers (Buffalo, Elk, Beef, etc.) with really good buns. I had the Buffalo Burger and it was delicious -- one of the better burgers that I've had. The tri-tip tacos were good - the guacamole was really lime-y and delicious. The mixed drinks were mediocre. I probably wouldn't order another mixed drink from here -- if I came back, I'd have a beer. They were just expensive and not that good. The atmosphere of the restaurant/bar is pretty great. All the hardwood around the place gives it a cool feel.

I do theater at Good Luck Macbeth next door to Midtown Eats and I will be the first to profess that I cannot get enough of the sweet potato fries...I may have put someone's children through college with the amount of those fries I have consumed. On my birthday last year, this is the place I chose to celebrate. I love the food. I would recommend it to anyone.

Seriously, one of my favorite spots in Reno. Not the cheapest, but a perfect date night. The craft cocktails are very special. The menu is small, but well-thought out. Lots of locally sourced ingredients. Truly, truly delicious. I've been here 10+ times, and have yet to find something I don't like. My ideal meal - a drunk monk, cheese plate (to die for), frites and the Classic Burger. The decor is simple, trendy-country-chic. Dimly lit by antiqued fixtures that look like they're from a barn. Wooden tables. Water served in Mason jars. Purse hangers made from railroad spikes. The only drawbacks: they're too small for their growing fan base, so it can get loud and crowded. They don't take reservations - but, if you call about 15 minutes ahead, they'll usually save you a table. I'm not deducting any stars for these points, because... It's so freakin delicious. Soooo worth it.

Food is pretty good but the custom drinks at the bar were much more exiting. The rating I'm providing is based solely on service. Arrived around dinner time and tables were full but there wasn't anyone on the waiting list. Put my name on the list and waited more than five minutes for a server to acknowledge my partner and I. When I did receive some attention, it was because my partner politely asked a server who walked past him if we could wait for a table at the bar. The servers response was "of course you can" in a very snarky way and from that point on, we knew we would be treated to lackluster service. Grabbed two drinks at the bar and waited for a server to call me since tables began to clear up. Once I noticed three tables, I asked a server if we could move to a table and she said she'd check the wait list. She came back and said there was no one at which point I told her I realized that they had crossed off myself and the next two people on the list without contacting them. The rest of my stay here was filled with good food but unfitting terrible customer service. Step it up, you can do better.

went again and didn't see a special of the day i liked, and then came to realize that the menu is in fact somewhat limited. Really the place is more an upscale burger place, with a great cocktail bar! But a great destination when you want a good burger.

I gauge my ratings based on if I'd come back to an establishment or not. 1 star = HELL NO. 2 stars = No, thanks. 3 stars = maybe?. 4 stars = YEP. 5 stars = HELL YEAH! Midtown Eats gets a 'No, thanks.' With a very hipster-esque setting, Midtown Eats fails to exceed expectations for those outside the social norms of their regular clientele. I get serving your drinks from mason jars. I get it, but it just doesn't work for me. The dim lighting is great, but I didn't enjoy my experience there. First of all, first impressions are key from a service standpoint, and the service was pretty lackluster. The server failed to refill waters countless times, and had next to no personality. For a place hyped up to be "the best of Midtown", I truly didn't see the hype. The only real redeeming factor was their Mushroom soup. Their soup was great, but granted...it's just soup. I can't really be sold to go to a place for a second time based on an appetizer. Prices are affordable to downright WTF. I mean, steak for over $30? I'd get it somewhere more mainstream for my liking. It seems the cherry on the top that made me not happy with the experience was the fact that the whole staff was catering whoever was at the bar and no one else. And that's just not acceptable. Sorry, Midtown Eats. Tough luck.

Price reflects Quality. It was a little spendy for a burger and fries $13 but well worth it. I had thee Bison burger. It had tempura battered onion rings. Yummy. Well put together burger, cooked just right" I asked for medium" still light pink in the middle. Who doesn't like a little pink in the middle? My mom got the portobello burger which was also offered as grilled or tempura battered and fried of which she chose. She said it was excellent and not a mushy mushroom. We did not have cocktails or beer due to it being the day after Thanksgiving. We might have had a bit the night before. It is very small inside and loud. It is only a problem if you expect quiet. The liquor selection is vast. The whole time we were there the Mixoligist was using / prepping fresh fruit, so that is a good sign.

I had the Classic Burger and the Midtown Splash. Both were delicious. It took too long for my cocktail to arrive- like one second before my burger, which threw off the timing of this meal. So to make up for that both the bartender and waiter became over solicitous with the "How is everything here?' questions. And the answer was, I am getting annoyed.

My husband and I both had the Classic burger. Their grass-fed beef was outstanding. Very tasty and not dry. Great fries and a nice salad. You must give it a try! Their bar looks impressive too.

On vacation from San Diego. "yelped" local restaurants for good food. We chose this place since I was craving a burger. From the moment we walked in we felt an air of snootiness. May have been because we had our toddlers with us.The lack of customer service made it for an uncomfortable meal. Burgers were okay. The only thing saltier than their attitude was their not so sweet potatoe fries!

This place is so hip. And therefore expensive. But it's so good. I usually order the blue burger because blue cheese is the best. The burger is amazing, and the fries (regular or sweet potato) are delicious as well. I always spend a lot of time pouring over the cocktail menu, but I reliably come back to the Midtown Smash (tequila, raspberries, mint, cranberry juice and ginger beer) or the fragolina (vodka, St. Germain, lemon, strawberry and champagne). The place is small, so you might have to wait for a table to free up, but it's a nice treat.

This place is super cute and located in the "Midtown" area of Reno. South Virginia street reminds me of an up and coming Mission/Valencia crossed with a south congress (Austin) vibe. The food left a lot to be desired and the Mac and cheese was pretty much room temperature by the time it reached our table. I think this place is still new or I'm assuming it is because of some tell tale signs such as: - Having 4 different servers wait on you - Cold food - Ice cream sandwich tasted really homemade and not in a good way : ( - Portions of food In general, things just seemed a little off like they were still trying to figure it out. I got the beet salad and my boyfriend got a burger. Both were fantastic. I sorta wish they gave me more lettuce though.

I stopped in here on Friday, August 12th (their opening day) for lunch a little before one. It was a veritable Who's Who of Midtown, with the owners of the Hub, St. James Infirmary, and the editor of Edible Reno-Tahoe at three of the other 4 occupied tables. Super rad to see the local community supporting a new neighbor. The decor is filled with light woods for the chairs and hand-made tables. The bar is made of reclaimed wood (maybe railroad ties?), a rail as a root rest beneath the stools, and rail spikes for purse hooks under the poured concrete bar. Another nice touch is the lights, which are made of old alcohol bottles over Edison style bulbs. They've also got a roll of butcher paper hung near the ceiling at one of the bar to write their specials on. Space seems much bigger than when Sup was in here, primarily due to both the left and right walls having benches running their length. Beer selection is limited, but decent, and I had a De Proef Draeckenier off the tap. The food has potential, but there were a few misses, that I'll write off to the place being new and still give them 4 stars here. Items that we tried: Blue burger ($10 I think?): I split this with my friend, and it was a generous sized burger, with heaps of bleu cheese, an interesting tomato chutney (good mix of spicy and sweet), and large chunks of bacon - looks like the bacon was sliced thick and then prepared into quarter inch cubes. The flavors blended well. The miss here was that while we ordered medium-rare, the burger was definitely undercooked - enough so that my friend wouldn't eat it. And yes, I realized medium rare is supposed to be pink in the middle - what it's not supposed to be is cold, red, and stringy. I still ate the burger, as that's not the end of the world for me, but could see it being enough for someone else to send it back. The fries it came with were standard shoestring fries - a bit more salt that I would have put on them, but still tasty. Fried okra ($4) - we ordered this off the bar bites menu, as I love fried okra. I was surprised to see that it came out not as sliced bits of okra, but instead the whole seed pod, battered and deep friend. These were allright, but were also a bit undercooked - batter was just barely golden, without a brown tint, and if it had been any thicker, would have definitely been doughy. Snapper taco ($2) - This was perfect - two small tortillas offset slightly on a bed of spring greens, topped with a spicy guac, a generous serving of chunk flakes of snapper, and topped with a tasty pico. The presentation was great, and the tastes were everything you'd expect. Peach cobbler a la mode ($7) - A bowl full of cobler, topped with vanilla ice cream. I'm not a huge fruity dessert fan, but I thought this was okay - not spectacular, and probably only worth $5 to me. My friend made the comment that she would have preferred a crispier crust to it, as opposed to the slightly doughy/floury crust that was there. On the other hand, I liked this texture. To each their own . . . Overall, I really liked it - I do wonder how late their kitchen will be open. It could become my goto spot for a late night meal if the hours are long enough - looks like they're open till 11PM most days, and 1 AM on the weekends.

We went around 4 pm on a Tuesday, so the place was practically empty. We were seated right away, but it took forever for the guy to get our order and our food. We ordered the blistering peppers, the classic burger with sweet potato fries and the streak and frites. The menu didn't have very many options, it was just one page with maybe twenty different options(including appetizers). We never got our peppers for an appetizer, when I got my burger the bun was completely burnt and inedible, the burger was very over seasoned, I love a good burger, but with this one all I could taste is the pepper. The sweet potato fries were nothing special. With the steak and frites the steak had a great season/marinade on it. It was cooked to perfection, super tender and delicious. The frites were thin and crispy, just couldn't stop eating them. The steak and frites is a definite win with this picky eater. I also liked the atmosphere, it would of been nice if they had a little music going or something. It was very country with wooden table, drinks in mason glasses with big square ice cubes, it was nice. Overall it was pretty spendy, our whole meal was over $50. The burger was $13 the steak was $34, and two drinks at $2.50 each. And the service was poor. Probably wont be going back for a long time, serving a burnt bun was a complete turn off along with the bad service.

4 Stars for food 3 for service 4 for Ambiance I get what they're trying to do and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Had the atomic burger with sweet potato fries. There are so many burger places in Reno now that it's kinda getting old, but if you have a couple extra bucks to spend on a good burger with good atmosphere, this is the place. P.S. Serving room temperature water in an old wine bottle isn't trendy...it's annoying. Just bring me a glass of ice water.....

PROS: * The food is really pretty damn good. * You can get things here you can't get at many other places. And they get creative with it. CONS: * They seat you so close to strangers that you're practically sitting on their laps; be sure not to talk about anything controversial, because the guy next to you can hear you more clearly than your date can. * This place is so hipster, your jeans will get skinnier.

The food here is really good, however the service was sub par; it took a long time to get seated and for the waiters to even notice us. We were forced to wait outside because there were too many people and no place to sit inside to wait to be seated. The atmosphere/decor is nice however if you do not like crowded and small places then this is definitely not the place to be.

I'm giving this place an "eh...it was ok" review. I was so excited to try it after all of the hype, and I ended up being disappointed overall. The service was mediocre at best - I probably would have had one or two more drinks if she had ever come back to the table. I had the atomic burger which was good and spicy, but the bun basically disintegrated and it was a huge mess. Can't stand it when the bun can't handle the burger! And I thought the fries were subpar.

There was a time when I gave Midtown Eats the benefit of the doubt; sure it was slow, but the food was pretty good, especially for Reno. That was until today. Two of my closest friends were visiting Reno and we wanted to grab a quick lunch before heading to the airport so we walked into Midtown Eats and frankly didn't walk out the same people. It was 1pm on Friday when we sat down to order and there were only a handful of other customers. We ordered a cheese plate, a wild mushroom soup and a falafel sandwich to split. Our flight to Seattle was leaving at 335 from Reno so we figured we had plenty of time. Spoiler alert: we didn't. I recommend allotting 40 days and 40 nights here if you want a quick cold snack. Food came and went, but, alas, none for us. 40 minutes in when Kelly's hanger had stripped away her characteristically kind, patient demeanor, that's when things got real. When we inquired about our food our waiter essentially informed us there would be "no soup for you." The soup hadn't been started, the cheese hadn't been arranged onto a plate, you can only imagine the status of our sandwiches. When we asked if our food would be out by 2:00pm, nearly an hour after we came in, out waiter didn't quite laugh in our faces but leveled with us: that was basically a pipe dream.

Cady was an amazing bartender and recommended the steak... She did not steer me wrong... steak was awesome! we sat at the bar watching Cady making some amazing drinks... It's nice to find a place where the workers enjoy their job and do great at it and the food is delicious as well... If you find yourself in Reno (God knows why) you have to put this on your list of places to visit!

I love this place, the food is good, and the outside seating (when available) is a nice option. The only downfall was a male waiter one day. My girlfriend and I walk in and he looks at us and say's "What's up?" like we were there to pound fists and give eachother bro-hugs. Then when we got the menu's, he just slapped them on the table and walked away. Obviously someone had a case of the Mondays, but in all seriousness, leave that at home. ....Just seat us down like a professional, and let us order, sir.

I admit I wasn't sold my first time in, that was a while back. After moving close by, its my go to place. Yes food is pricy, but you get what you pay for. I have two favorite dishes that I was hesitant to try, after convincing by Ivan, I finally tried the duck...it was phenomenal! Decided to splurge (on calories) and wanted creme brulee, but it is lavender so I was very hesitant. Again Ivan to the rescue, he promised me it was not overpowering. So I ordered it with my Indian summer cocktail (also wonderful) and he was right, it was exactly what I was looking for. Staff is always great. My other two must tries the Sunday brunch crepes (best in town) and tri tip benedict! Love that they serve coffee from Hub.

I'm not sure what is going on with this place...other than to say they seem to be going downhill. Loved it when thy first opened but the last few times I've been there I've been truly disappointed. Went for lunch with coworkers a couple of weeks ago. The place was not full. Once our server finally got around to taking our order, it then took an hour for the soup to arrive. We had ordered the mushroom soup which my coworker has had in the past and enjoyed. However, this time the soup was completely unseasoned. Not a drop of salt in there. Our main dishes came out after the soup was cleared (so, about 1 hour and 15 minutes after the order went in). I had the falafel sandwich, which I've had in the past. This time it was very disappointing. The falafel patties were tiny, very dry and bland. The pita was completely dried out and tough. So, a very unpleasant experience and as we were all on our lunch "hour", we were all extremely late getting back to work. Really hope they can fix the problems. Be sad to lose one of the first midtown restaurants... but for the moment anyway, I'm not going back.

Great place for brunch, lunch or dinner. Fun atmosphere, very friendly and attentive servers and the food is amazing -- especially the burgers and appetizers. They have a nice rotating draft beer selection and the food is reasonably priced with good sized portions. Only beef I had was that the cocktails are a bit spendy for me (most are $10 or more).

This place is a freaking joke, I was here for dinner with a few friends... I'm here visiting from Sac and I did not expect this kind of treatment. One burger for the price of 3, I could've gotten 3 of In and out's burgers, menu is really overpriced.. My burger was really salty and I had to wait 45 minutes for my food to arrive. On top of that, I found out that they charged me for more than I authorized. What kind of BS is that?? They just stole my money... Called in the next morning to talk to the manager and she said she'll look into it.. Then "Adam" called me stating that I did not give enough tip. And this jokester had the audacity to tell me that I shouldn't eat out if I don't have money to do so.. I mean who is this Adam to tell what I shouldn't do.. First of all, it's people like me that makes these businesses run and thrive in this shitty place. Second, I gave this sorry business a tip just what they deserved. Tip is optional and if I think they didn't deserve it, I could've gave them NOTHING!

sigh* My first Yelp let down. This highly rated place was a bust. Hipsters adorned nearly every chair which should have been my first clue. I had the crispy pork chop which was cold in the center. The little lady had the standard fare burger which she only managed a couple bites of. I would have given zero stars but the Mac n cheese side was edible and the greens were good as was the pork belly starter. So many better places around Reno....I suspect the hipsters have banded together in their ratings...or everyone who eats here is summarily converted to a hipster within 24 hours of their lackluster meal. Time to go get my stomach pumped before I wake up with dreadlocks, skinny jeans, and mushroom tattoos.

We have been to Midtown Eats a few times and right after they opened it was quite good. However after eating there last week I have to stay they are lagging in both courtesy and flavor. I ordered the lamb burger, medium rare - it came well done with no flavor. Our son ordered the elk burger rare - it came well done and he sent it back. It came back medium and he ate a portion of it a little ticked off. His girlfriend ordered the Chinese chicken salad and they forgot to tell her they were out of noodles and when brought to their attention didn't seem to care - their delivery didn't make it. I know this is not in LA or San Francisco but I think Reno deserves better. Or maybe not and I should just head back to SoCal. Fries were good but we won't be back.

Driving around looking for something other than casino food. Lucky for us, they just opened and we were the first ones in for an early lunch. Lunch menu offers snacks - seared pork belly, sides - mac and cheese, salads, sandwiches and burgers. We went for the heirloom tomato salad and the bison burger. Heirloom tomato salad was served with cranberry beans, lemon cucumber and a balsamic concoction. Very tasty and perfectly dressed. The bison burger with white cheddar and tempura onions was heavenly. It comes with a bbq sauce but we substituted it with a garlic aioli. Very juicy and cooked just right. The cheese and tempura onions blended well together with the meat and created a tasty bite. The burger came with sweet potato fries which I couldn't stop eating. It's a small, cozy little place. Mix of wood and metal and has a modern, rustic feel. Staff was attentive and took care of us.

Went here for dinner on a rare date with my hubby. Glad we decided to leave the toddler at home to try this place, because it is definitely not for kids. (Our 16 month old probably would have been throwing food right in our neighbors' laps.) We had been wanting to try it out for a while, as we recently relocated from San Diego where there is a plethora of great restaurants, and have been missing that. This place did not disappoint! We shared the cheese platter and a salad to start, I had the mushroom burger (tempura style, mmmmm!) and my hubby had the bison burger. Both of us were very pleased, and neither of us could finish our plates. So we had to pass up the scrumptious sounding desserts. Will be visiting again, as often as we can coerce someone into watching the kiddos!

We went here with some friends and the food and drinks were delicious! We had wonderful service, and a lovely evening. The venue is small and intimate, so we waited at the bar where we had drinks and appetizers. The staff was very accommodating, and made the night extra special. The drinks are unique, and fun. The burgers are delicious, and so was the steak! Desserts were a hit too!

4.5 stars for sure. Came here on my way back to the Bay Area and I loved it! Had the bison burger with salad and coffee - came for brunch. We were the first ones in the restuarant. The BEST bison burger that I have ever had...cooked medium as per chef's recommendation. My coffee was also very good. This place looks like it belongs in the Bay Area - but it's here in Reno. It's super cute and intimate. Highly recommend!

After a disappointing culinary weekend in Vegas, we were excited to come home to Reno, which, in case you haven't experienced it, has truly some of the best restaurants around. Midtown Eats is but one of those shining stars. We waited about 10 minutes to get a table, it's a very small venue, but totally worth it. The server (owner?) was running around like crazy, it looked like everyone had come at once. But we perused the menu and people-watched. Our server thanked us for our patience, and genuinely gave us his full attention, even though he was the only one taking and delivering orders. He was so kind and gracious, I can easily forgive the 10 minutes it took for him to get to us. And if you read my reviews, I never mind extending dinner, good company, good wine, good food, what more do you need for the night? We ordered a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio and the chips and habenero salsa. WOW, the salsa is really more of a pepper sauce, with just the right flavor and heat balance. I ordered the steak & frites (I am a sucker for the classics done well!), and loved every bite. The rib eye was cooked perfectly, flavored nicely, and the bourbon peppercorn sauce was a light, nice addition. And the frites, OH the frites! REAL potatoes, not pre-made, frozen, REAL potatoes, and really thin with a beautiful seasoning. My husband ordered the quail. Two tiny crispy birds appeared among the best cornbread ever. I had a bite of the quail and it was succulent and bursting with flavor. He also had the mac and cheese and declared it amazing. I might mention that the price points are really reasonable. The cocktail list looks very creative, even though we stuck with wine. We could have easily been somewhere in Manhattan or Portland, or pick your culinary city, the quality of the food and service was top notch.

Definitely our favorite spot in Reno. I'm kind of shocked I hadn't written a review yet! I've tried their huevos rancheros and French toast at their Sunday brunch, their street tacos for lunch, and both their fair and atomic burger. All of these things have been amazing. Great flavor, great atmosphere. Service has been a bit less than stellar lately, hopefully that will improve. Whenever anyone is here visiting from out of town we make sure to drop by Midtown and everyone has been impressed!

Yum!! Eclectic delicious foods! My hisband had the lamb burger and I had the elk buger. Simply mouth watering! The sauces on each broight out the flavor of the meat. Also, I had the sweet potatoes fries....the best I've ever had! Great brews too!

My go-to for Sunday brunch and great lunch eats. Their burgers are the best in town, hands down! They have become incredibly popular for dinner so I wouldn't bother dropping in without a reservation from 6 - 8:30ish. They are closed Sunday nights. I've had good luck with the service and they offer a great drink menu with unique libation creations. Their coffee is from Hub Roasters, which is outstanding, but they do not offer espresso drinks. Also, the hipster watching is unmatched at Midtown Eats!

I finally made it here last night after being in Reno almost a year. I waited too long. The Atomic Burger was very good with just the right amount of heat. My friend loved the elk burger. And he's picky. Excited to come back and sink my teeth into some Bison! Ivan and Bruce were very helpful even with the place near capacity on a Wed night.

Another visit to Midtown Eats with excellent food and service! I started with a cup of mushroom soup . It had a very strong pepper taste to it ,which I did not like very much. Next was a side of Mac & Cheese. It comes in a pretty big bowl with a nice topping of bread crumbs and slivered cheese . Very tasty , and I enjoyed the light crunch that the bread crumbs gave. For the main part of the meal I ordered the Steak & Frites. This was a 16 ounce rib eye served with a stack of shoestring potatoes. I was not sure about the potatoes , as shoestring is not usually what I would pick . They were good , nicely brown and crisp ! Not over cooked ! The rib eye was nicely seared and cooked prefectly! It was very tender , almost melt in the mouth! To drink I ordered a long island ice tea and coffee. The long island ice tea was served in a jelly jar , and cost more than their specialty drinks! Note to self , stick with just coffee here ! The coffee is very good! Someone next to me ordered the pasta primavera ,it looked very good and they said that it was tasty! Maybe I will try it on my next visit! I like that they pay very good attention to the presentation of each dish ! Keep up the good job guys! I will come back , more food to try! You gain a star for being consistant!

Worse service I ever had, and the bartender sucked so bad that I got a Martini with ONE olive in it. In addition, It was really expensive for little food, and 10 bucks per drink; drinks were overpriced and literally half cup filled. Don't order the pork ribs because they taste terrible and not fresh at all. The manager was rude at the end.

Went here this evening and enjoyed a nice date night with my man. We sat at the bar as all of the tables are right on top of each other and I don't really like sitting so cramped and close to other people while I'm on a date. We each ordered a cocktail which was carefully prepared with high quality ingredients. Upon looking at the menu, most everything was fairly pricey except for the burgers. Since this was just a quick mid-week dinner, we opted for the less expensive burgers. We both enjoyed our meal very much and finished our plates. Overall, we had a really nice experience but $50 for 2 drinks and 2 burgers is pretty pricey. Food was good but I won't be rushing back. I prefer good food at moderate prices - my preference is with Campo, where there is a wider range of prices and more options, especially in the small plates/sharing arena.

So I've been on this mac n cheese kick and saw they had a truffled mac on their menu. Because of this I had been bugging the hubby and other friends to check this place out. The pics on yelp in addition to other reviews were also a draw for me. Unfortunately the truffled mac was a bit underwhelming and tasteless. Maybe it was my high hopes that it would fulfill my craving, not sure. The winter squash salad I also ordered was a bit disappointing. The only thing good about my dinner was my drink, the fragolina, which was quite refreshing. They appear to have an extensive drink menu which looks to be filled with great selections. The reason why I may not go back is due to my experience in it's entirety. After we got our bill, we chatted for a bit but not very long. Then we were approached by one of the servers who asked us to leave because "we have a lot of people waiting for a table." We left pleasantly but as we exited, there were only a few people waiting outside. I don't like to bring the race card into the mix unless I know for sure there is a racial issue involved but I found it a bit strange given the following facts: 1) We were the only group with people of color. 2) There were only 4 of us, it's not like we took up the whole restaurant. 3) As we were leaving, there were only two people waiting for a table. I don't know, you can be the judge. One thing is certain though, I probably won't go back.

Always amazing food...and the cocktails are perfect pairings. If you haven't been to Midtown Eats - you've missed MidTown.

I got to say, Robert's words of if you are debating going for brunch, to get off the computer and go made me take the plunge. My cousin enjoyed his Huevos Ranchero, though it was supposed to have the added chorizo, he said he enjoyed it even though it was spicy haha. The key words being, "He would be back." I loved, loved, my simple, but tasty citrus crepes. Fresh strawberries, blackberries and raspberries with homemade whipping cream. I asked for a touch of syrup too. I thought it was a good portion size for I think only $7. I also got the bacon $4 for 4 pieces. We got 2 bloody mary's and the pepper was delish. I think I will try another cocktail next time I am in. A brunch place you don't feel like death coming out of. Better ingredients in your tummy. MInd you, biggest downside is the noise.

Best sweet potato fries I have ever had, and I am a HUGE sweet potato fry snob. The dipping sauce to go with said amazing fries? Heaven. The portobello mushroom burger that came with the fries was good, but the fries really outdid the main part of my meal. However, the other options on the menu sounded pretty awesome and I will definitely be back to try them out. Speaking of the menu, it is super short and sweet. If you want a book of a menu to choose from, do not go to Midtown Eats. But, if you want a simple menu that makes deciding pretty darn easy, you have to try this place out. Oh, and the Mason/Kerr jars as drinking glasses- super cute idea! Overall, Midtown Eats surprised me. It is super unpretentious, the service is friendly and prompt and the prices are right. I left lunch today super satisfied and isn't that what anyone wants after paying for a meal? : )

This place is a tiny but comfy place where you can get some awesome hand made drinks. The server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the drinks because I had no idea what a lot of the ingredients were. She was sweet and helpful. The bartender even checked with us to make sure our drinks were ok. The food was great too. I had the grilled portobello burger and my partner had the blue cheese burger. Both were fantastic. The mushroom soup is the best soup I have ever tasted in my life. If you go there for anything you HAVE TO try the mushroom soup. I would pay a small fortune for that recipe. I love the decorations here as well. From what I hear they used parts from an old barn to decorate. It turned out fantastic and I love the succulents on each table. One of my faves in Reno so far.

A below average restaurant with Midtown trendy wrapping. Not every restaurant in Midtown is "Amazing!" This one decorated and markets itself as cool, hip, simple bar food gourmet. Don't drink the Midtown Kool-Aid this place is not good. The few positives are the home made sodas are really good and the atmosphere/decor is nice. They make good use of a very small space. The service was outrageously bad! We waited 45 minutes for hamburgers and fries. I ordered an Elk burger medium and it came after the horrendously long wait rare. My wife ordered the lamb burger medium-rare and it came well done to medium. You would think with 45 minutes they could do a bit better. Good quality meat but my elk burger had no seasoning and the lamb burger was overwhelmed by too much Feta to where that's all you tasted. Using trendy ingredients doesn't mean the "chefs" know how to use them and they clearly had no clue. What really sums it up though are the fries which are of the pre-frozen variety you get at a Bully's or another corporate food chain! I would really expect hand cut fries at a place like this. Pathetic. Just trying to get people to pay more for the same food you get a Bully's. Add that to the service no way would I go back. The waitress never apologized and just said that it couldn't be helped because of a large party that came in. Oh! Thanks good to know that we aren't important enough and by the way the place holds the same amount of people whether they are in smaller groups or a large party.

Great food, albeit pricey and limited in selection. Fantastic wine selection! If you like wine, I recommend coming here as they have a unique selection. Dessert was incredible. It is small and will get crowded, which is a testament to how much people enjoy the food. Come early or late for a more intimate experience. Parking is dicey, too.

Midtown Eats has an exclusive yet casual and sophisticated vibe. Food is exquisite. Started off with the pork belly. I'm not even gonna try to convince you how delicious it is, just try it. I had the Portobello burger and I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful it was. The texture of the mushroom and everything else in the burger came together really well. I didn't even miss the beef patty. Great job chef! SO had the Steak which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Desserts are a must have as they have this homemade deliciousness to them and they are also very unique. If you are over 21 then definitely spoil yourself with a cocktail or a brew of some kind, they have a generous selection of libations. This is not your everyday cheap eatery. Expect to do some damage to your wallet, but after your meal your big belly will tell you it's all worth it! Plus, staff is friendly and you'd be surprised how tech savvy this place is. PS. I wouldn't knock off any stars for this, and while I love the idea of candlelit dinners, the dining room could use more lights. Both SO and I agree that a little brightness can help dining guests read the menu more clearly and also see each other better. ;)

It occurs to me that after five check-ins here since my original review, it might be time for an update to reiterate how much I LOVE THIS PLACE! I have had the Pulled Pork, the Atomic Burger, the Lamb Burger, the Snapper Tacos, and several of the snacks, sides, and desserts. Everything I have eaten here has been nothing short of amazing. But what I really love are those expensive cocktails. They may cost a lot, but they are the best drinks in town. I am particularly fond of the New York Sour. "Fond" may be an understatement...I love that drink with an unholy love. On my last visit I decided to try the special, Staring at the Sun, and it, too, was incredible. After several meals and drinks here, I have found each experience to be exceptional. Bravo, Midtown Eats...I will keep coming back.

Stumbled upon this place a couple weeks ago while in Reno. We loved it. It was empty upon arrival and stayed that way - after the brunch rush I am sure. I ordered the Classic burger, added bacon and sweet potatoes on the side . It totally hit the spot. My boyfriend had the Elk burger and loved it as well. We both ordered our burgers medium and they came out that way, love when that happens. Instead of ketchup, the fries are served with some sort of chipotle ranch? SOOO good! I also like the fact that the burgers weren't huge and didn't fall apart while eating it. We had an ice cream sandwich for dessert, pretty good, nothing special though - seemed like a store bought boxed ice cream sandwich. I will definitely be returning here on our next trip to Reno.

Okay I'm back, and with my five stars. For Brunch: try the Midtown Benedict with a Midtown Tonic. Bliss. For Dinner: Get the goddamn short ribs. They cost $25 but you can thank me later. Melt in your mouth, cut with a fork, short ribs. Don't believe me? Go try it yourself. Order a drink while you're at it.

I can some the food up in one word. Meh. Just seems like they're trying to hard to be different and yet nothing was really special. I had the Atomic burger, my husband the Lamb burger. Neither one was anything I would write home about. Fried okas was good.

Disgusting... Let me just start off by saying the first thing I did when I got home was eat something else to get the nasty taste out of my mouth. My girlfriend and I went here based off reviews on YELP and I was severely disappointed. I will start with the service. We walked in and were greeted and told where to sit. We were the only ones in the place... why we couldn't pick a place to sit is beyond me. Well we sit down and briefly look over the menus when our server comes over and drops off some water. I inspect the table looking for glasses and find some vases and ask the server when she returned if these were the water glasses. She responds with a look of disgust... "YA". I say "Okay, just checking I wasn't sure, I didn't want to drink out of a flower container." She asked if we wanted anything to drink and we declined, since we felt like drinking water. I could tell she didn't like that answer, from then on out it felt like we were second hand customers. She explained some items on the menu for us after we asked. When I asked what the "house sauce" was she said that the sauce they put on their burgers was like thousand island. Sounds okay. We both got burgers, I got the standard fair. Which according to the menu is a regular good ole burger. I saw two kinds of fries that were listed on the menu, sweet potato and regular. I said I wanted fries as my side and she wrote it down and left. Confused, since I was not asked what kind, I assumed she could read my mind and know I wanted regular. That or she didn't feel like doing her job and asking me. While waiting for our food, a few more couples came in and the bartender started making drinks. For some reason he decided to be as loud as humanly possible making these drinks. Anytime someone got ice in their drink he shook the drink with the ice, loud enough so the used furniture store across the street could hear it. I couldn't hear my girlfriend who was across from me talk, nor could I think. This process repeated EVERY time someone got a drink. Now to move on to the food. My burger arrived with "gasp" sweet potato fries --shocker right?-- I decided at this point it was not worth arguing and from reviews they were apparently pretty good. NOPE. The fries were soggy, tasteless, and room temperature. Oh and did i mention there were no salt and pepper shakers, or ketchup on ANY of the tables?? Well, the fries were bad, but the burger has to be good right? I mean how can you screw up a burger? I looked down and notice a GIANT clump of lettuce on the burger. This thing was as 4 times as big as the burger and it was the white nasty lettuce that you usually throw out after your lettuce starts to go bad. I was hungry, and decided to just give it out a go, I have had some nasty lettuce before, no biggie. Well I picked up the burger and immediately the whole thing falls apart and I notice that it seems they decided to put an entire bottle of thousand island dressing on the burger making it not only soggy as your gym socks but also very similar tasting. I managed to partially construct the sandwich again and eat some of it scrapping as much as the sauce off as possible. It was a failed attempt... every single bite tasted like that nasty sauce, the cold fries had sauce on them, my face had sauce on it, my napkin had sauce all over it, I think even the precious flower vase that I was drinking out of had sauce on it. If you EVER decide to go to this place..... DON'T. Unless you like terrible burgers, cold fries, being treated like your not a paying customer and bartenders who think they have to make drinks louder than fireworks on the 4th of July. 10 wasted dollars.

This bar/ Restaurant feels like you are in the Mission area of SF. The design of this place has an old time feel with lots of modern touches to it. It is a clean, and has a well planned out floor plan. Bar area has a reclaimed wood on the back side and it set off with shelves that are backed lit. All of bottles liquor is placed on the self and each one looks stunning. The best part of the bar is the custom lights fixtures. They are light tubs in liquor bottles that have give off a shimmer. Each table has it's own small plant and is set off by rustic tables. Cloth napkins give it a feel of proper, but the felling is more casual/ hipster. On to the food: Mac and Cheese: The Mac and Cheese had a crunchy top, lots of cheese, and was served hot. Soup: The soup was a red pepper, a bit of spice, smooth, and delicious. Sweet Potatoes: The sweet Potatoes were served hot with a side of sauce. It was a large portion, enough to share with group. Over all the service was great. We will be back the next time we are in town.

My parents came into Reno from Texas, and we chose to eat here. I was a but nervous cause they are real big foodies. Midtown did not disappoint! The mushroom soup is so delicious that I could just fill up on that. My step mom was raving about it all day afterwards. My dad and I had elk and lamb burgers. They were perfectly cooked with so much flavor. Also loved their sweet potato fries. I think their portions are good too because I left full but not stuffed. The atmosphere is amazing. I mean, sure it's a bit hipster esque, but if you go during lunch time you won't really run into "those" people if they really bother you. I think it was fun and had a lot of charm. I did wish they had a little more selection in the wine department, but what I did have was delicious. My dad was impressed with them having local beer since he's really into that. Our server was charming enough to get a great tip, but not too overbearing. Love this place!

Came here for dinner a few months back and really enjoyed my experience. Bison burger was really good. The meat was juicy and seasoned well and the bun was crispy and tasted very fresh. Other dishes looked good and I will definitely be back to try other menu items! One thing: I stepped into the place and felt like I was right back in the bay area. That is not particularly a good thing when you're roughly ~200 miles away from SF. It irks me a bit to see SO much trendy (read: cliche hipster) decor piled into a place. But that's more just my personal qualm. It has no impact on the food, which again, is great and definitely worth the trip.

Got a burger with the Atomic paddy, pretty tasty and a nice concept having habanero in the meat.. Bun and sweet potato fries were also pretty good. They're trying real hard to justify their inflated prices by being somewhat trendy and casual. But its still pretty clear to me they are just an average bar with expensive looking tungsten filament reproduction light bulbs and a little bit of effort put in to sprucing up an otherwise ordinary space. Its going to take more than a bar tender that didn't seem to want us there during normal (but still late) business hours and light bulbs to get me to spend more than $12 on a dish. If you were to order many of the entree's on the menu as well as a drink and tip you'd be in the $31+ range per person. We got out for less than that, But only had a burger and water.

The first time I went here the waitress heard my order wrong. By the time I got my correct food everyone else in my party was completely done eating... and they still charged us for it. Went here again tonight. My husband ordered the burger special and no complaints. I had the quail dinner. The quail and cornbread were good, but the coleslaw leaves a very bitter aftertaste, so I definitely wish there was something better on the side. We ordered the chocolate "lava" cake for dessert. For $7 it is pathetically small... and it had no lava (I guess it was overcooked). Also, I really wish they would invest in something to help lower the volume in the restaurant... way too loud with the wood floors and concrete walls.

The latest hipster gem to open in downtown Reno. My first visit here I chose the Atomic burger which was the best hamburger I've had in my life...I was stunned. I ordered it cooked medium and it turned out perfectly juicy. I also tried the Mac and Cheese which was amazing. I was pleased enough to come back for dinner on the same day and tried some of their cocktails. The blend of excellent liquor and berries really hit the spot for me. I really liked the midtown mash. The next day was brunch so I had to try that as well since it only happens on Sundays! Their banana almond French toast has no match. I also had a white peach mimosa that was a new one for me and have to give that a solid 5 stars. Currently I look for any opportunity to visit here. I'm happy they serve "The Hub" coffee which is just down the street on Cheney....best coffee in Reno hands down. I haven't tried anything on the menu that I would discourage, yet. Bloody Marys here are delicious. I'm stuck on the Arugula salad as it's absolutely phenomenal...the only better salads I've had are when visiting San Francisco, due to better soil and local farms I'm sure. If you spend much time here you'll likely see Ivan who is the owner. It's obvious that he takes a ton of pride in his food and the establishment in general. The prices are higher than a typical restaurant, for obvious reasons...such as they don't serve you crap here. I'm happy to spend $10 on an amazing burger. It's great to see Reno welcome this quality restaurant with open arms....hopefully this trend continues.

The fans lightly hummed as they welcomed me in from the concrete heat of Virginia Street. Rustic reclaimed wood and railroad parts stacked themselves into tables and a long bar. Delicate vintage vases and bowls held candles and tiny cactus arrangements. The prettiest of liquor bottles hung empty from the ceiling, their contents replaced with Edison light bulbs. Midtown Eats was ready for me. For Saturday lunch I had the Blue Burger: perfectly seasoned meat, thick cuts of bacon with delicate blue cheese crumbles on a light brioche bun. The side salad was perfectly dressed, and the sweet potato fries were delicoius. And on this sweltering day, I washed it all down with a Spritz cocktail--MT puts a special spin on it that really knocked my socks off. And for dessert: lavender crème brûlée and a pint of the best Belgian beer I've ever had! Round two, Sunday brunch: coffee is awesome. Bloody Mary is so so good. And the Huevos Rancheros were fantastic. I eyed the french toast with bourbon vanilla syrup and seriously thought about taking an order with me to go. Yeah yeah yeah... I'm pretty much in love with everything here. And I tell no lies.

Finally got to try Midtown Eats and they dd NOT disappoint! I ordered the 'Crispy Berkshire Pork Belly, apple cider glaze, granny smith gratin, braised cabbage with tomato jam.' I almost licked my plate! The pork belly came apart with just a fork, and the granny smith gratin was delicious. The sweet/tartness of the apples were carried beautifully by the potato. My friends ordered the Blue Burger, Ribeye Steak, and the Pasta Primavera, and EVERYONE enjoyed their meal thoroughly. I can't wait to go back and try the Ribeye for myself!

Had dinner here with friends after a movie. We were able to get in with a short wait at the bar. While we waited the bartender went out of her way to make me a drink that I would like :) I ordered the ribeye and frites. The ribeye was incredible. I also had a cup of the mushroom soup to start which was delicious. The frites were kind of bland - probably would have been better with their regular fries which smelled yum. One of my friends order the burger which looked amazing. I think I would want to try that next time. She said it was great. The decor was cute. Rustic but "city". It's a small place, and probably not so great for large parties.

I really like to eat here. The food is great and I enjoy the atmosphere. My only negative thing to say really and it is not that negative is that I don't go here if I am on a time restraint. I enjoy it here on a relaxing Sunday when I just want to eat great food and take my time. Servers are great but they just can get really busy. The Midtown Benedict with the Tri Tip is my favorite.

One of my favorite places to eat in Reno. I'm continually impressed by their service, ambiance, and food/beverage menus. As a vegetarian, I am a huge fan of their grilled portobello burger, and their fries are amazing. I also love their list of libations. The hand-crafted cocktail movement in Reno's Midtown area is absolutely fabulous, and Midtown Eats is no exception. The Cucumber Smash and Midtown Refuge are both delicious, but I think the Bee's Knees is my favorite thus far. My only complaints are that the venue is a bit small, which leads to a bit of a wait during the dinner rush, and that some menu items are a bit pricey. Then again, I'm a college student, so that probably wouldn't be an issue for most people. Overall, an excellent dinner choice.

After many happy lunchtime visits to Midtown, I had the opportunity to enjoy my birthday dinner there. We had a large-ish party, but they were able to accommodate us. The food was incredible, as usual. My husband and I ordered the fried okra (always a favorite) and bone marrow canoe to begin, and both were fantastic. I ordered the steak and frites for my main. The ribeye, cooked medium rare, was so tender that when I warmed up my leftovers a few days later, it was still melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The frites were also just right. Husband ordered the pork belly, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Our party was treated with great care and consideration by the staff. Water carafes were never empty, plates were cleared promptly to make room for next courses, and, well, everyone was just nice and friendly. The wine list is not huge but very well-curated. The decor is simple and lovely. Midtown is easily one of the best restaurants in Reno for both lunch and dinner.

Stopped in for a little lunch date with our baby, staff was friendly and accommodating and food was very good. Simple well crafted menu, lots of cocktails to choose from- we will have to try next time. Small but well selected beer options also. Loved the atmosphere and decor and our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. Would recommend to foodie friends and will go again.

Love the atmosphere. Drinks were amazing, a great drink menu is always fun. For dinner, Cinnamon had the steak & frites and I went with the pork belly with barley and snow peas. Both presentations were very well put together. I had no complaints, Cinnamons only complaint was the large size of the steak. We look forward to coming back!

Midtown Eats, you gave me a headache. That is a good thing. It just means that your cocktails are delicious. There are different concoctions. Some are mild and sweet for those who don't like strong alcohol taste and some are potent. I tried several and all were interesting and tasty. I had atomic burger. It was just wonderful. Perfectly medium rare. Generous patty, flavorful meat. It has some habanero mixed in but don't be fretful it does not overpowered other flavors. I also had wild mushroom soup. Very tasty! Although cup for $4 - tiny, bowl for $6 - generous. Just get a bowl and split with your friends. my friend had a rabbit with veggies. It was good but not very big. She said the vegetables were undercooked. What I liked the most about this place was the service. Very professional and friendly. I love when waiter that is not assigned to your table checks with you. To me, I don't care whether it's your table or not. To me you are part of the same establishment and nothing bugs me more about the restaurant than poor service and waiters who try to push you off to one another because it's not their section/table. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead when you are on your way to put your name down on the waiting list. overall, it is a very nice casual dining and I am rating it as such. I loved it, but if I'm going to celebrate birthday or some other occasion I would rather go someplace else, where I can place a reservation and nit wait for a table. Also the tables are very close to each other, so there is nit much intimacy. On the other hand it's conducive to meeting cool people! Thank you!

Midtown has, hands down, my favorite mushroom soup. It is so umami, if you know what I mean, just rich and complex and interesting and warm and satisfying and every single bite is amazing, and that mushroom garnish in the middle is this incredible morsel of delight. And I happen to like the other food here, like a lot. The tacos for lunch are just awesome, and I-will-always-love-sweet-potato-fries-forever. Burgers are delicious, and salads are big and filling, I still need to try some of the more pricey items (hey, parents, want to go out to dinner?). But I see them and they make me hungry, so I have some amount of faith that they are quite good. This place is another one of those Reno treats filling Midtown, and I think we need to support our gems so we can keep getting more and keep Reno transforming. I'm pretty okay with more mushroom soup and less strip clubs and pawn shops.

First time here. Been reading and hearing a lot of good things about this charming restaurant in the old Sup location on S. Virginia. First of all, it looks lighter and brighter, and even bigger than before. My husband and I shared the Blue and Atomic burgers, with sides of sweet potato fries. We both liked the Blue burger better. Atomic was good, just not my favorite mix of flavors. I could have done without a sweet bun on my burger. Savory would have been better in my opinion. Also, sweet potato fries had sugar on them? Oh no you didn't! Eh. Salty/spicy would have done the trick for me. Took a look at the dinner menu and it looked very interesting. Not sure if they up the wine selection for dinner, but that would be nice. Hear their cocktails are awesome, but couldn't bring myself to indulge at noon. Service was first rate. We were left wanting for nothing.

I'm pretty new to town, and don't really know where I should be going for specific types of food. At this point, I'm randomly picking places based on suggestions from people I've been meeting, and this was one of them. I had the portobello mushroom burger with sweet potato fries. It was incredibly delicious. It had a marinated and grilled portobello mushroom with fresh mozzarella, tomato and greens. I couldn't get enough of the sweet potato fries and that yummy dipping sauce they come with. I was definitely disappointed when I had eaten all of them. For dessert, I shared a piece of flour-less chili chocolate cake. I've had the combination of chocolate and chili powder before, and I knew what to expect. However, there was just a little too much chili powder on this dessert, and towards the end it felt like a challenge to finish it. Next time I'll go sans chili powder. I was a little disappointed with the drink service. I spent over 15 minutes waiting for a Cucumber Smash (gin, St. Germain, lime, muddled basil, cucumber) even though I was sitting at the bar. The bartender made some woman's drink before mine, even though I had ordered before she even stepped foot in the restaurant. He also kept disappearing to the back of the house for 4-5 minutes at a time. I should mention that there were only 6 other people in the restaurant, so it wasn't an especially busy time.

This is a small hipster restaurant in Midtown (as the name implies). We arrived at 5:40 pm on a Friday and there were about 4 or 5 tables available. By 6:00 all of the tables and bar seating were full. I started with the mushroom soup. It was really nice with pureed mushrooms evident throughout the soup. It tasted very fresh and was not too salty (as many restaurants like to make their soups). Next was the elk burger. The meat was fresh and tasty and was topped with grilled red onions, Gruyere cheese and arugula. This burger was excellent from start to finish. The night finished off with the creme brulee. The top was nicely caramelized and the custard was not your typical vanilla but rather a nice mocha. Every item seemed super fresh and was very tasty. I found this place through Yelp and once again I have found a great place that I will continue to visit.

Watch out for HIDDEN charges!!! I looove this place! This is definitely my kind of place, food, decor, little touch of every detail. But couldn't help feeling annoyed at the charges which were never mentioned... 1. Added 1 scoop of ice cream to the dessert ($2) 2. Were offered for 2nd Arnold Palmer (Refill $1.50) 3. Had Iced tea after Fresh Lemonade ($3), they charged $2 for tea None of above were mentioned on menu, or verbally. I understand they had to charge me for a scoop of ice cream. But when they offer you a 2nd for soft drink without mentioning about the charge, that is not good. My husband almost had the 3rd!!! And I had lemonade ($3) first then switched to Iced tea ($2), and they charged me $2, but not $1.50 for a refill. Iced tea is cheaper than Lemonade which I originally had.... We just didn't think this was nice at all...in fact it is DISHONEST! Anyway, Bison burger, Portobello Burger was delicious! Wild mushroom soup was too salty... Yes, we will go back there but will be warned for hidden charges!!! =)

My husband and I came for lunch on a Friday, and when we arrived at about 12:15, there was adequate seating. Not much later, it filled up. My bison burger was flavorful but overly salty. I chose regular fries, and they had a delicious dusting of spices on them. It almost tasted sweet, like BBQ potato chips. Delicious! There was a homemade bacon BBQ sauce on the burger that was delectable. My husband got the brie and apple grilled cheese, which was on thick white bread. We both loved it. You have to like brie though, because the flavor was prominent. His sweet potato fries and chipotle sauce were yummy. For dessert, we ordered the white chocolate cherry bread pudding. It was... interesting. The white chocolate was good, and the custardy bread was good, but it was accompanied by a drizzle of what was unmistakably HERSHEY'S SYRUP! I was disappointed that there was Hershey's on a $7.00 or $8.00 dessert! They could have done better. I expected more from a place like this. If I had the ear of the chef, I would also tell him or her that homemade ketchup would be a nice touch to go with the obvious care they took with the rest of the menu,

My husband and I went here for dinner I had the truffle Mac and it was deeeeeeelicious!!!! My husband is vegan and ordered the portobello burger which he said was the best one he has ever had since he does not like mushrooms. Service was okay. When we walked in the bartender and the server were talking to each other by the bar and they looked over at us but continue talking to each other neither of them greeted us which was kind of weird he then grabbed menus and placed them on a table I just looked at us signaling us to sit down kind awkward but whatever the delicious food made up for it. I would definitely go back here again

My guest and I had lunch at Midtown Eats today. A diverse, if somewhat limited menu at the lunch hour. She selected the crispy chicken sandwich and I went for the bison burger. She thought that the chicken sandwich was good, although gave the accompanying sweet potato fries higher marks. I order the bison burger without bbq sauce. It was cooked medium as requested but was underwhelming in terms of flavor. Needed some spice, instead of relying on adding bbq sauce, which tends to bury the taste of the bison. The accompanying french fries were good but not exceptional. The restaurant is nicely appointed with a bar that dominates the back of the restaurant and is clearly the focus of the business, as the drink menu was much more extensive than the food menu. There were less than 6 customers in the restaurant throughout our meal yet the preparation took quite long...almost 20 minutes to deliver our meal. I would rate it as expensive, at $30 for 2 without a beverage. Based on the reviews, I would guess that dinner is a better bet, both in terms of the selection of entrees and the service. A good addition to the Reno dining scene and could, with some attention to detail, move up.

Lamb Burger and Sweet Potato Fries Sweet Potato fries were a let down. Do not hold up to Great Basin's sweet potato fries. Just nothing special. The lamb meat itself and the bun were good but the sauce they placed on the burger overpowered everything. There was too much of the sauce and difficult to scrape off. Ruined perfectly good meat. The burger was also very difficult and messy to eat. Not that crucial but when you're constantly wiping gross tasting sauce off your face....... God I hope I don't break out on my chin from that sauce. The messy factor alone, not a place for a first date. To top it off. The woman who served us was rude. She tried to push us out when the place wan't even 3/4 full and we only had our food for about 15 min. For $12, I was expecting good taste, okay service (hey it is only $12), and a noise level where I could hear the person sitting across the tabe from me. Got none of it. Where is my $12 for a burger going? Not the service and not their cheap ikea decor (yes, $1.99 plants from Ikea on tables), I just felt let down.

I love what they have created here. The food is always consistently good. They support local/regional farmers. Great quality meats used. Creative and tasty. Service is always nice and thorough. I love the atomic burger and sweet potato fries!

Good: Good food, fair prices, LOVE thier cocktails. I would suggest the spicy burger (atomic buger? can't remember the name) and the blue cheese burger for sure. The mac and cheese was decadent and delicious. . Soup's good, tacos are great. I'd do any of the cocktails- unique and handcrafted. Not as good: Semi-awkward seating (no one to tell you to take a table or wait by the door) and slow at making drinks. I get that these drinks take time (and they are well worth it) but when the bartender is also the server things slow down. Also, the last few times I've been here I have tried to order a drink while waiting for a table and gotten no response at all. I come back because I like the food but there is a little room for improvement on the service.

Midtown Eats is a really nice restaurant. My friends and I dined there on on Saturday and all of us really enjoyed our dinner. I tried the lamb burger medium-rare and it was delicious - scrumptious cucumbers, great seasoning, and tender meat. Next time however I'd order it without the eggplant / with the eggplant on the side. Also, we had an ice cream sandwich for desert. It's was a small portion, but it was amazing. It had rich vanilla ice cream with small chunks of tasty chocolate. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Reno!

Midtown Eats is great! I always tend to go here on dates. I like how they will not take reservations, yet offer a high quality dining experience both in food and atmosphere that would rival much more pricey places... that require reservations. They make great drinks, have a friendly and knowledgeable staff; and an incredible atmosphere. It's just different enough from Sup (sorry no umlaut) to let you remember you've been there before, but it was a much different place. Though a little more higher up on the scale for price, I never mind bringing anyone here so they can experience such a great place here in Reno.

I've been on a quest around the world over the last few years in search of the world's best hamburger. I thought I found it at "The Fix", in Los Angles, but have since replaced it with Midtown Eats, "Atomic Burger". Hands down the best, most unique, well put-together burger I've had. Thanks, and I look forward to coming back for another. The cocktails were darn tasty too! Keep up the great work.

What can you say about simplicity done well, except well done! Hats off to Ivan and the team for an excellent job, great service and a cool location. Burger was to die for. Just melted in the mouth, salmon fresh and perfectly cooked. People talk about the bread pudding for dessert and after the first mouthful it's pretty obvious why. Midtown Eats is setting a new standard in casual eating in Reno.

I am going to give Midtown Eats 5 stars right out the door. I never order cocktails in restaurants or bars because most of the mixes come out of a gun. The fresh squeezed libations are fabulous. My boyfriend and I have been here 4 times and the food & drink have been awesome. We like to sit at the bar and bug the bartender and servers. Kidding we just like to watch them create. The Plantation cocktail is so yummy not too sweet with the right amount of muddled basil, YUM! I am so sick of Caesar salad done wrong & stuck on every bar menu in the world tossed with some thick gooey bottled dressing, however the description of their version made me stop and think......Maybe somebody really wants to make a good fresh caesar oh and with chicken.....Yes! Perfectly cooked fresh chicken breast served atop a delicately tossed salad light & flavorful dressing with fresh parmesan, the best part no crappy croutons..The first time I had this salad it came with roasted corn, the second time I had this salad it had roasted butternut squash tidbits sprinkled and was perfect! I love using food in season, it is what life is all about, in my opinion. I can't wait to find out what the chef is doing this week! We have had the burgers, which everyone in the reviews including my boyfriend says are undercooked. I like my meat MR, not well done dried up old meat and for all you people overcooking does not insure proper handling of anything. They cook it the way it should but I guess Reno isn't quite ready for that. The burgers, fries, awesome! The snapper tacos...perfect especially if you just want something fresh, light and yummy! Soups are amazing as well.

My friend dragged me into Midtown Eats, and then I refused to leave. At first, I thought I had walked into a West Elm magazine. The decor is simple and all-natural, but completely fun and trendy. The staff greeted us warmly. I ordered the Blue Burger. Ok, so I have to admit, after bite 3 of my burger, I spent more time praising Midtown Eats on Facebook, than I did chatting with my lunch date. That is the best burger I have ever had in my life. Hyperbole? No. You know how usually a burger is kind of dry, and requires lots of soda or beer to get it down? Yeah, not the case with the Blue. Amazing flavors and textures, using bacon as an accent, instead of a culinary cop-out. My friend didn't mind that I was ignoring her in my burger lust, because she tried the beer they recommended. And became pretty jovial halfway through. I came back the next day to try their soup (I thumbed my nose at it the first time I was there). Because of the burger magic, I was willing to try whatever was on the menu. The soup was fantastic. They didn't have any to-go containers for my soup, but I convinced them to give me a jar for it. I plan to go back regularly for a soup refill!

My favorite new place in Reno. The Sweet Potato Fries are the best and their cocktails are all amazing. Had the Crispy Pork Belly on my last visit - it was an amazing dish not easily found in Reno. I have been twice in the last two months and can't wait to go back again. Not really a great place for kids unless yours are well-behaved and used to eating out, but my girls are still talking about the Mac 'n Cheese and Flourless Chocolate Cake a month later. I wish they took reservations because tables are hard to come by, but otherwise . . . this place is wonderful!

My sister wrote a review on this place and it was taken down because she told the truth. Since I was one of those in the party eating I will give it a try. Went for lunch at about 1:30 p.m. there were a few still there and more coming. The inside was so loud and noisy we opted to eat outside. I forget what my sister and Gus ate, but I do remember what I had and the process in which it took to get. Waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink, Gus and I had water, sister ordered coffee and of course it did not come. We then ordered, each time what we wanted the question was asked by a male wait person do you want soup, salad or fries with that. I opted for the soup with my pork sandwich. So my sandwich arrived with fries, I pointed to the plate and said, soup. It had to be repeated it was ordered with soup. So the female wait person took it back and for quite some time I sat waiting. It finally arrived with the soup. The mushroom soup was peppery and I liked it, my sandwich was fine, nothing special but fine. The size was a bit of a surprise as it was just above the size of a slider. Ok this next part is what got my sisters review taken down. It was the music. She asked the waitress who chooses the music for this place and she said it was whoever comes in and turns on the I forget what device she said but it was one of the computer generated programs and she thinks it was the guy who just left for the day. Why did my sister ask, well because of the choice that was playing was pretty much was rap with all the profanity that goes along with it. She wrote down the words being broadcast and I guess even if one is complaining about it; it is not allowed to say words one can find in the dictionary. You know words like what one does to a mother if one is the father, or one who is calling a person of color when one is being less than politically correct. Other words too were quite objectionable and it is hard to believe those who were dining at the time were enjoying the degrading words to the human condition being played as entertainment. Ahh well then the bill came and it seems even though the question would you like soup salad or fries does not mean you actually get one of these with the sandwich as I was charged for the soup, yet the fries were included in the cost. Being told this would have been nice since I was charged for the same as one would be if soup were ordered as a separate entity. Since I did not get the fires should not the price of the sandwich then be reduced in price because believe me what I was charged for a dinky sandwich and soup was way beyond reasonable. Oh and my sister did get her coffee when we were asked again when the food was delivered if we wanted something to drink and reminded them a coffee was ordered.

Wow - the place have bad acoustics - If you want to talk to the person your with - forget it. and it is a shame since their food is good. last night we had the regular burger and the atomic one - both great, this time I didn't like the sweet potato as I did the first time, oily and saggy, too bad. the service was ok not over the top. it is still a good value for your dollars food wise - the drinks are on the expensive side, but if you are actually with an other person - maybe you should think to go to some other place until they will do something regarding the noise.

Arrived on a Friday night around 630 on a whim. We have heard good things from friends about the food so decided to try it. We sat at the last available table so no wait :) Atmosphere: mimics the new DIY, minimal style: mason jars for glasses, lights inside of hanging jars/glass bottles, etc. It was pleasant ambiance. Only thing I don't like is the proximity of tables to one another. This was the only thing I didn't like when Sup was there prior. We sat so close to the other tables I heard the entire conversation. Also there is nothing on the walls/ceiling to help with noise. It was a bit loud for me, a la Granite Street Eatery. Drinks: we ordered a porter and the Bees Knees (gin, honey syrup and lemon). Porter was good, probably a bit pricey. Bees Knees was in a pretty glass but tasted strong and delicious. Worth $9? I dunno. Maybe. Food: Fiance ordered the blue burger (med rare) with sweet potato fries ($11). He says it was delicious. I got the lamb burger (med rare) with sweet pot fries ($11), both were very yummy. I thought the sweet potato fries were perfect, crispy on the outside and hot on the inside. The sauces were very good. Since I don't eat beef, I liked that they had lamb, and it was tasty. I would, however, like to know where they get their meat, if it is antibiotic/hormone free, etc. Those things matter and I like to know where my food comes from. Service: Fine. Our water was never empty and we weren't bothered by anyone. I hate it when servers are constantly checking in. I like it best when they are present in case I need something but are not interrupting conversation. Dislikes: Price. I think it's a little high but w/e. We spent $50 including tax/tip for 2 entrees and 2 drinks. * It was a bit loud. * There was a photographer from Sagebrush there, with the flash going off for the first 10 minutes we were there, it was annoying and blinding. I wanted to tell her to leave, but alas, it was not my business :) * My gin drink was in a small (but beautiful!) glass Overall, I'd go there again. Maybe for lunch so as not to pay so much.

First time in, went on a weeknight. There were 5 tables on the wall with couples on each end; our waitress seated us tight next to one couple instead of in the middle. Not a fan of being this close to other diners. They had a limited beer menu, but at least they had Rouge Extra Bitter on tap. Wifeski had soup & salad, I had Blue Burger. She liked her soup and greens, my burger was very good, but not cooked to medium as requested, more towards well done. I would still rate Granite Streets a little higher in flavor. All things considered, food was way above average and will be back for seconds.

Ordered the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries for lunch and it was excellent. I've had better of both, but the food was still very tasty. Fast, friendly service. Parking is a hassle, but otherwise this place is a winner and I will return sometime.

So after doing the typical Reno thing of hating on something new before trying it, fiancee took me to dinner here last night. The interior is a bit sparse, prompting me to comment "Portland called, they want their restaurant back" upon arrival. There's an impressive cocktail list of housemade drinks. We even ordered a few. However, the prices of said cocktails are not listed on the menu. So imagine our surprise when we found out our drinks were $9-10 each at least. Not that we would mind paying for that kind of quality, I'd just like the decision to be informed. I'll even recommend a Midtown Smash or Chupacabra cocktail. Also the bartender was making much ado about them being hand juiced, etc. which is cool, but Chapel's been doing that schtick for years down the street and for much cheaper. Besides the very small amount of pretentiousness that's going on here, I will say that the chicken sandwich with balsamic onions and sweet potato fries ($9) was one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. Cooked perfectly and right for the price. Fiancee had a tri-tip sandwich he thought was a little overcooked ($12, I think). Service was efficient and unobtrusive. No complaints in that department. Overall, we were really impressed with the quality of the food and drink. We'll be back for dinner, but I think I'll save my midtown drinking money for Chapel.

What a great place! The atmosphere is so intimate and rustic, you feel you've stepped into another city. The food is AMAZING and mouth watering and so fresh. The service is wonderful, prompt and friendly. You feel like you are dining with family and friends. The decor is so unique from the liquor bottle lights, rustic tables and chairs, candles, mirrors, etc. This restaurant definitely needs to be on everyone's list of places to try in Reno!

I would have to argue that the burgers out of Midtown Eats are the best in Reno. The food and smells of goodness will make your belly growl and your mouth water. The only knock on the place is that the parking situation sucks, the seating situation sucks and the wait can be ridiculous. But bottom line we come to food-establishments yo eat and the food here is top notch!

I admit, I went to Midtown Eats because my friend said it had cute, rustic decor. If you've ever been to Sup's old location, you know how small the restaurant is. Fortunately, we made it in there a little after they opened and were able to be seated right away. The menu selection is small, yet seems to have something for everyone. I got the Portobella Mushroom Burger, tempura-style with sweet potato fries and my husband got the Atomic Burger. While we waited we sipped on water poured into mason jars. Hip, but all of the mason jars were exactly the same. Would have been a bit more unique if they had mismatched the jars. The food was great and very flavorful. The Portobella burger would have been a bit better if it had been cooked longer, but the crunch of the tempura gave it an A in my book. Tips: Don't try to park in front. If you have a hipster moustache, flaunt it. Sweet potato fries are always a good choice. Ask for cocktail prices before you order, or you may end up with a pretty hefty bill. If you're looking for a professional wait staff, this isn't the place for you. The servers and cooks hang out in the back, laugh loudly, pay bills at the bar, and walk outside to pull herbs from the neighbors yard.

Probably one of the hippest restaurants and bars in Reno, Midtown Eats emulates places in NYC and San Francisco without living up to them in quality of the food or service. Just to be clear if you are in Reno and need a nice place with decent modern American food this is probably one the best bets. If you love hipster style and neo-vintage design and shop on Etsy this place is made for you. In a decade of eating in Reno on various yearly treks through the city, it is one of the few places I would return to. The French Spouse thinks it should get 4 stars for her food which was the soup of the day, a vegetarian mushroom soup and the tempura fried portobella mushroom burger. The fries were very good and the portobella burger was far more than just a mushroom on a bun. It was layered with cheese, sauces and veggies that gave it a complex flavour. However my Pork Belly was tough and bland and really should not have been served at all. Pork Belly isn't the easiest cut to cook and the chef here needs a refresher in cooking it. It was served with pickled cabbage and a potato gratin that also had a rather vinegary taste. We finished off with a lavender creme brulee which had a very uneven layer of sugar bruleed on top and the lavender was a bit strong. The service was very uneven, they were clearly understaffed as the host/owner was focusing mostly on a large table of his friends as well as a couple of other tables he seemed to know well and the waitress was also mixing all the cocktails. It was a weeknight but almost all the tables were full and with that many people and only two people to both mix drinks and serve there are going to be service issues. Another good thing about it being in Reno is the prices are lower that what you would find for the same dishes in LA, SF, or NYC but alas the quality also isn't as high. The entire meal was only 51 dollars including two aussie soft drinks.

I had lunch here this week and ordered the sirloin arugula salad. It arrived with hardly any of the ingredients and no vinaigrette, mostly just a pile of arugula. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she apologized and took it back to be remade, offering me a glass of iced tea because of the problem (nice of her). After everyone else in the restaurant was served and my daughter had finished her lunch, my salad was returned in a much smaller bowl with a few more ingredients and the dressing. The sirloin was so tough that I could not chew it to swallow it, even after cutting it into very small pieces. Before we started to eat, we tried to move over a table because the fan was bothering my daughter (who has dry eye because of extensive cancer treatments). We were abruptly stopped by a server who said she needed the seats for a table of four. Later she put a couple there, not the four she had indicated. There were other tables open for four people. Our server did not charge us for my salad, which was appropriate but it was the worst dining experience I have had so thought I would write a review. $13.00 for a small sized salad (side salad size) , with hardly any ingredients was a ridiculous price. I had expected a real treat for our lunch out and was greatly disappointed. Both of us said we wouldn't give it a second chance, since my daughter said her lunch (sandwich with sweet potato fries) was pretty ordinary.

My wife and I went here last Friday. While you cannot make reservations you can call ahead 10-15 minutes before you get there and they will add your name to the list. We did that and were seated as soon as we arrived. We started with wine and a cocktail which were okay. The cocktail was nothing special I do not recall the name. Then came the appetizers, mushroom soup and sweet potato fries. Wow amazing the soup was just wonderful and the fries were seasoned perfectly. For dinner I had a burger and my wife had the duck confit, The burger was great and the duck was good. The atmosphere is very nice there, everything is crowded together and I found myself staring at our neighbors food which led to a conversation about what everyone ordered. All in all it was a very nice evening and we will be going back again. Thank you Midtown Eats for renewing my faith in the Reno food scene by providing good food, a great atmosphere, and a chef and staff that doesn't make me feel like I should be grateful to be giving them my money.

My acutely attuned to bad burgers radar, located somewhere in my stomach and reconfirmed and recalibrated by a very painful first-time-in-years stop at Burger King on the way to Burning Man, proved on the way back that this hip place's burgers are very tasty as well as pain-free. Now I'm returning Yelp a favor - it pointed us here in the first place. As another review says, the place looks, feels and is priced more like hip modern places in NY or SF, making it a standout in Reno. We had two burgers (lamb and teriyaki), both quite outstanding, one with a great salad, the other with just OK fries, and a somewhat disappointing, very spicy fish taco. Besides being friendly and helpful, our waiter Ivan shared some of his unusual life history upon detecting our Russian accent - when something like that does not feel silly or annoying but is in fact interesting and welcome, you know you are in luck. Bookmark this as a great place near i-80 to help you avoid all the painful fast-food choices (in my book that includes In-n-Out) between the desert and San Francisco.

Quality of ingredients, presentation and taste get a four. What brought my overall score down is the price of alcohol and a young child that was quite vocal and running all over the place.

I kept seeing Midtown Eats showing up on my front page of Yelp with positive reviews. Then I saw it on a local TV station with people raving about it. Kept hearing about it and had an opportunity to stop by today for lunch. Any place that gets this many rave reviews from my peers makes me skeptical makes me think they must be putting something in the food. Whatever it is - it's awesome. When you give some place 5 stars it's generally because of having a positive overall experience From the food to the service to the actual restaurant itself. Midtown eats has nailed it. The Atomic burger was awesome with a nice juicy patty cooked to perfection, a great bun and plenty of flavor. The service was great, very friendly and prompt. Lastly I love the atmosphere and vibe they have going here with the eclectic modern-but-rustic look. Yet another Reno restaurant proving you don't have to leave our town to get 5 star food.

Tough call for me on this one because I only ate here once. I actually didn't like the main dish I ordered and I didn't like the drink. But it seems like they do a lot of things right here, so I'll give them four stars. This opened in the location of the former Sup. It was Luciano's before that and some Italian restaurant in the early 1990s. They have a lot more tables than Sup offered. I ordered an olives appetizer, lemonade and a lamb burger with fries. The olives were tasty. Good and fresh. The lemonade was advertised as fresh squeezed. It didn't taste like that. When the bill came the cost was $2 instead of the $3 listed on the menu. So I thought maybe I got something that wasn't fresh squeezed. I asked and my waiter said it was fresh squeezed about five minutes before I came in. It just didn't much lemon flavor to it. I liked the French fries with the lamb burger. But the burger, not so much. First off they serve eggplant on the burger and the flavors clash. And the burger itself was soft and gooey. I've had lamb burgers at other places with better consistency. Plus the lamb was a little gamey. There's a good vibe there, though. I get the feeling they know what they're doing. Service was good. Update: I tried the Sunday brunch and I liked what I got. The French toast was nicely done and was gussied up with nots and fruits. The side of bacon was a side of bacon. They made my decaf using an Aerobie Aeropress, which I appreciate. The crowd for Sunday brunch definitely skewed younger. I was clearly the old fogie in the room

Only my third 5 star review!!! This place has the best burger I have ever had, the atomic burger. It has a habanero pepper chopped up in the burger, and I was worried that it might be overkill, but it had the perfect balance of heat. It's topped with a fire-roasted tomato salsa, avocado, and I personally always request a slice of aged-white cheddar on top. And my little addition makes it perfection. Every time we come and eat here I always get the same thing, because I can't bear the idea of having anything but the atomic burger. I've tasted other things through Derek, the lamb burger (never been a big fan of lamb to begin with), the bison burger (yummy, but not atomic yummy), and the tempura portabello burger (which made me learn that portobellos just weren't meant for tempura). The appetizers I've had have ranges from stupendous to ok. The truffled mac and cheese was just ok, picture your ordinary white cheddar mac n cheese drizzled with truffle oil and you have the mac and cheese. But the real star of the appetizers is the tempura fried okra. Oh man I already loved okra before hand but now I really love love love okra, well the way midtown does it anyways. I've been here for brunch once, it was 4 stars for me, good hollandaise sauce, excellent fresh fruity cocktails, and a very well-rounded selection, nothinkg quite has the wow factor for me like the atomic burger. So what I'm saying is that if you haven't tried the atomic burger with a slice of cheddar, you need to come and try it, like right now!

Some of the best service I've had at a restaurant ever! Great drinks (pretty extensive cocktail beer and wine options), food had great flavor but the bun on the burger I ordered could not hold together. Someone had the pork belly and that looked good smaller portion than I've seen elsewhere. Great place will be back

I went to Midtown Eats with my fiance on a Thursday night. It was relatively busy, but not crammed with people, which was nice. While I understand they are going for a "cozy, intimate" vibe, the restaurant was tooooo dark! I could barely read the menu. Not a big deal though, and the overall ambiance was nice. :) The beers on tap were a great variety--I had a saison which was delicious!! The complaint was with our food--neither I, nor my fiance enjoyed our meal. I had the pork belly (which I already understand is basically fat) which was cooked in a way that was virtually inedible for me. It wasn't crisp on the outside--basically a huge wad of mushy fat on a plate. My fiance's meal was okay, but nothing to write home about. I would be willing to try Midtown for dinner again, but would definitely steer clear of the pork belly. Good place to stop for a drink with friends!

The fried okra is necessary. The burgers are crave worthy. Iced tea is perfect. I love the look, feel, and everything else about this place. Totally worth a stop here. We will be back...

We randomly had a night in Reno and found this place on Yelp - the burgers were awesome and the cocktails were amazing (if a bit pricey at $10 a pop - I switched to the chili-rimmed Tecates after one) - the bartender Josh was also super knowledgable and recommended some great places to go for nightlife in Reno. Go check it out!

This place is good...really good! Probably the best meal I've had in Reno. Their food matches the West Village vibe they are going for. A feet rarely achieved outside of NY. So why not give them the final star you ask...because it LOUD!! Like deafeningly, ears ringing when we left, couldn't hear a word the other person said, literally in pain from the noise, loud. I'm not sure if this was a fluke, we will have to give it one more go to be sure. But the space is small, the ceilings are high and they went for modern, minimalist decor so there is little absorbing sound. I'd say it's worth taking your chances for an excellent meal but maybe bring ear plugs...

I think the food is good. Actually really good. Fun menu and great décor. My complaint is the service. Specifically the bartenders. Both times I sat at the bar, both times I have different bartenders, and both times I was really surprised by how rude they were. It was as if I had the great privilege of them helping me. I would go again for take-out but I think I will pass on dining in again. The 2 stars are only a reflection of feelings about the service and level of friendliness.

We went to Midtown Eats on Tuesday evening for dinner. We had driven by a few times on recent visits to Reno and were so intrigued with the fresh urban look so decided to give it a try. It was the worst dinner we have ever had. The creamy mushroom wasn't creamy. It had a layer of butter floating on the top and what looked like a deep fried turd (greasy is not creamy). The rabbit was boiled in what tasted like chicken stock and was flavorless. The vegetables served with it were raw. The artichoke salad was nice. The server was rude and offered no water refills. We were also never asked if we needed anything else and when we voiced our disappointment with the soup, the server didn't apologize or ask if there was anything she could do. We were treated as though we were inconveniencing her by being there. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone due to the horrible food and service.

We walked in at around 5:15. There were 2 guys at the bar and no one else. We were seated promptly. As I looked at the drink menu I noticed that some of the ingredients used were foreign to me and my dining partner. When I asked what one of them was the server looked at me as if I asked her how to stuff a dead tiger the ingredient was apparently "a sort of simple syrup". We both ordered our regular burgers. They were cooked correctly. Tasted great. I wasn't found of the drink it was something that had peach puree I think. (I tried to find it online on their menu but didn't see it) but drank it anyway. Each of the girls who came by our table seemed like they were upset having to deal with us. They would walk up ask us "how thing were?" we barely said Good and they had turned around and walked away. Once couple come in sat down never were served and walked out. After we left I asked my friend what she thought. I told her I felt it was to hipster and well we are not. She said she felt the same way. Good was good service was not. More than likely won't be back.

Midtown Eats is a wonderful small restaurant in Midtown Reno. The food is as eclectic and fun as the wait staff. I had a New York Sour to start and it was a wonderful whiskey sour with a Malbec float. If they have squash blossoms, you have to get them. The rib eye was delicious and everyone in my group raved about their dish.

Great service, cocktails, and food! Very hipster and a bit pricey. I loved the ambiance and lighting inside. It's a small restaurant, but they were very good at accommodating our party of 5 in a timely fashion. Great for girls night out or date night.

I love that I get to start this review by saying that I almost went back the same day for the next meal the first time I ate here. It was THAT good. A friend and I were having a "girlie day", with lunch plans and then an afternoon of sipping cocktails and getting pedicures, but our original plan for lunch fell threw (Süp was WAY too busy; we had expected it to die down a bit toward the later end of the lunch hour, but it was so packed that the line was out the door and there wasn't much hope for a table opening up anytime soon), so we walked down the street to try the new place that had opened in the old Süp location. I was pleasantly surprised by Midtown Eats. The decor feels modern and *different*, and at the same time very minimalist; it definitely doesn't have a typical "Reno" feel to it (a nice change, honestly). It's a pretty small spot and the tables are pretty close, so I don't think I'll stick around if it's packed. The menu is simple and straight forward - sandwiches, salads, burgers and a few surprise items (mac and cheese as a side? I'll have to try that. Tri-tip or Snapper Tacos also don't mach the sandwich/burger dominated lunch menu, but I'll get to why you should try them and everything else in a minute). I think that what Midtown gets right is that their "typical" looking menu has some interesting details that set the items apart from any other spot that would have a similar menu - they're gutsy enough to put habanero on a burger (people fear that pepper), the arugula salad has BEETS (haven't seen those on a menu in a while), and the lamb burger wasn't the usual, "Here's your lamb burger with feta, the end". I ordered the lamb burger and my friend got the "Standard Fair" burger. I also ordered a cup of the special soup they had that day (I don't know if they serve their specials for a few days, or a week, or what), which was Butternut squash with cinnamon. I expected the soup to be on the sweeter side, as most places go sweet with squash soups, but this soup was divine. The flavor of the squash was sweet,b but the soup itself was also savory. I could taste the cinnamon but it didn't taste like dessert. I kind of wished I'd gotten a bowl of this amazing soup with some crusty bread or something, but after I got my burger, I didn't regret it anymore. My burger was pure lamb perfection. They cooked it exactly how I like it (some places get it wrong; I can never understand why they bother asking how you want it cooked if they won't cook it properly), the flavors were awesome, and they didn't overwhelm the flavor of the meat at all. Instead of getting fries, I got the side salad; it was light and wonderful, and the vinaigrette they use on the side salad is a simple tastebud pleaser. My friend devoured her entire burger, though she was trying to save room for a nice dinner out later (oops!), and got the fries for the side. I snagged a few of her fries, and they were well seasoned. The gentleman that was working the bar (and also assisting with the dining area, it seems; we saw him and our waitress an equal number of times, both of whom checked in on how things tasted) recommended a great beer that surprisingly complimented the lamb burger (kudos to him for knowing the flavors). The service was friendly, and they seemed to come back the perfect number of times without bothering our conversation or dining experience. I would like to finish with the dessert menu - if you like dessert, check that menu during the ordering process to make sure you save room if you want anything. After my soup, a beer, my small salad and my burger, I definitely didn't have any room left for the delicious sounding treats and after dinner drinks listed. The gentleman at the bar recommended the bread pudding, and I swear, I am definitely going to have to try it when I go back. If everything else was that great and spot-on, then I actually have hope for the bread pudding.

You just know you are going to be taken care of when you order a glass of wine and the bartender takes the time to make sure the wine is suitable to be poured. Yes, this actually happened. The wine was not up to par so he checked an entire bottle and opened a new bottle just to make sure that a quality product was sent my direction. Just one example of many that made my experience at Midtown Eats a five star stellar experience. You can go anywhere for a good food, but kudos to the bartender who made sure I was taken care of from start to finish.

In the heart of Reno, Midtown Eats offers Excellent burgers, cooked perfectly. I wasn't expecting it, but gladly enjoyed a patty over July 4 weekend. Upscale ambiance. Nice wine list. Not a diner or greasy spoon by any means. Classic cheeseburger is my usual order and theirs was damn delicious. Ate the whole thing no problem. Go take a break from casinos and see how the locals do it right.

Midtown Eats has been on my radar for a while, but its location is all too easy to miss if you're just driving through. At first glance, the exterior is rather unassuming. Don't let that deter you though; you'll find that the inside is actually kind of cozy, mason jar drinkware and Edison-style lighting abound. Cozy could also describe their menus; while limited, the selection here is pretty reasonable. I shared a Bison burger and a bunless Atomic with my +1. Though the Atomic came out just the slightest bit overcooked, the burgers were flavorful and savored nevertheless. We'd initially arrived before the dinner crowd to a mostly empty restaurant, but the waitstaff here were welcoming and started us off with drinks right away. Our server was friendly and perceptive even while soloing the tables. Still secondhand-grateful that they gently prevented the woman dining next to us from ordering her lamb burger well done. Overall, a humble place with a good vibe and good food.

Hadn't been back here in awhile and thought i'd give it a go last weekend. The brunch menu has expanded a bit, but thanks fully they still offer the Midtown Benedict on scrumptious brioche. One of the eggs were cooked perfectly and the other was a little hard. The meal is still very good and I feel that their seasoning on their potatoes is spot on. Just the right amount of salt and pepper! The service was attentive even though the place filled up by 10:30 a.m. I'm glad Midtown Eats has continued to provide a good value for dollar. I walked away full and happy.

Great little spot to eat in the new midtown area. We arrived and sat on the patio. Everything is clean, greeted promptly for or drink order. I had a Heff and the wife had a glass of wine both of which where delicious. Started with the fried avo, delicious and recommend for a appetizer. Good portion for two of us. I had the pulled pork and the wife had the chicken bacon. Good portion again, not over bearing but enough for lunch. I would strongly recommend all of what we got here and will be back to enjoy lunch/dinner and a cold beer/wine/ or cocktail. Cheers.

Perfect spot for a nice lunch in Midtown! Delicious food and cocktails. I would highly recommend the Bison burger! It is amazing. If you are a gin drinker, try their spin on the classic Bee's Knees! They make the lavender gin and honey syrup in house- yum!

I don't like giving out five stars but I have to for Midtown Eats! I have been here several times now and I am always impressed with the excellent service and quality of food served. The waitstaff always knows what is being served and know the details of how the food is prepared. They are also friendly and attentive. The food is great! The menu isn't very large but always has a selection that is quite tasty. The menu will change from time to time but not drastically telling me the chefs are creative and serving quality dishes. I definitely think this is a great place to take a date as well as for other smaller social settings. You will NOT be disappointed!

Went for lunch. I was surprised by how tiny the dining area is. Being lunchtime, it was a very quiet, mellow vibe. I always feel guilty about bringing a toddler to a trendy spot, so I aim for off times. We were promptly greeted with menus and a smile as well as a quick offer of a high chair for the kiddo. The service was friendly and unobtrusive. We ordered a starter of hummus. It looked like they made it themselves, which earns points in my book. It was served with a brittle roti-like bread that was fine, but there always needs to be more of it. Husband got the Blue burger with a side salad. That salad was excellent with multi-colored greens, halved grape tomatoes and a fine sprinkling of feta cheese. I got the Bison burger with fries, which were fantastic. I loved the seasoning and the crispy texture. Both burgers were big, delicious, and juicy. Can't wait to try this place again!

Meh. Don't bother with the Mac'n cheese (super blan), or the atomic burger (not really spicy). The wine and cocktails were tasty and the side salad was to die for.

The menu selection was very limited. The restaurant space was small. The decor was definitely different. They used clear jar glasses for the lamps and drinks. I had ordered the fruit and mascarpone crepes with a side of sausage. The crepes were fantastic. There was also a house made syrup, I believe it was called bourbon maple syrup. It was fantastic. The sausage had a bite and was delicious. This place is definitely worth a repeat visit.

Short and sweet. I thought it was a hole in the wall burger joint; was I wrong. It's a home in the wall classy restaurant. Full bar but not a big menu. For the amount of food you get, it's very expensive. However, you get what you pay for. DELICIOUS! Almost licked my plate, lol.

Fantastic food and good service! My party had the lamb burger, elk burger, bison burger, and tri tip salad. We had the sweet potato fries with our burgers. Can you say hidden gem? The place looks like someone plucked it right out of LA and placed it along the rundown streets of Reno. good: - Mason jars. nuff said. - Wide selection of custom creation cocktails. I wish I could've tried them all! ($10 each) - delicious burgers (I tried the blue burger - also $10) - Sweet potato fries, with a sweet and salty blend of seasoning on top. I think they could with a little less of the seasoning, but it was still delicious - thick sugar coating on creme brule. bad: - the place is small, but it took us a while to get a server to place our orders. - they were out of duck confit. boo Overall though a great find in Reno. I wish it was closer to home because I can totally see my friends and I stopping by on a weekend for burgers and yummy drinks.

Paleo paradise, this is. I stopped here on my way out of town for lunch to go. So many choices of grass-fed, pastured, or wild meat and organics greens. I got the elk burger on salad. So tasty. Got my water bottle filled with water, lime, and mint from the bar and I was good to go for my drive home. I can't wait to go back and dine in, preferably with a group so I can taste more dishes. Everything I saw leaving the kitchen looked great, and was served with a smile. Lovely people, lovely menu.

Definitely a must come for a great burger! We were tired of overpriced and mediocre if not nasty hotel food and were in search of a buyer joint to satisfy the husband's burger craving and found this place on Yelp. Service is fantastic and the atmosphere is homey. I got the Classic burger with grass-fed beef, added bacon and substituted the house spread for their garlic aioli. It was amaze-balls. The meat was cooked perfectly (I got medium-rare) and it was super juicy. Be prepared to use the napkin quite a bit (in a good way). My husband got the bison burger which he said was just as good. We got ours with a side of fries and the seasoning is really good. Overall had a great experience and would definitely come back :)

This is a great midtown gem! The menu is a unique one with something to fit anybody's taste! The atmosphere is cozy, small venue with a bar at the back, and I'd say less than 10 tables. The Mac and cheese is delicious, as is the atomic burger...both favorites. If you're looking for something different that won't break the bank, this is the place to go!

It took two trips to Reno, but finally we found a restaurant that would fit in perfectly in the foodie haven that is Minneapolis. Minimalist decor with small tables, a rough hewn wooden bar and some neat old industrial style lighting. We started with the artisan cheese plate, nicely adorned with three cheeses and the appropriate bread, fruit and jam spread. I ordered the pork belly with pearl barley/red pepper/snap pea stir fry. I realized that I am not a fan of pork belly texture (too gelatinous for me) but that was just my personal texture issues. The husband loved the left overs. And I didn't feel too bad, because the stir fry was awesomely flavorful and a meal in and of itself. The husband ordered the duck with rhubarb and wild rice. The duck was moist and succulent and the wild rice was packed with flavor thanks to the tangy rhubarb. We wrapped up with the rhubarb pot de creme - an amazing little dish that we were fighting over to get the last spoonful. Overall, a great restaurant experience in Reno (at last). Food was quick, service attentive and portions perfect. Our entire bill came to a little over $60 which was awesome for the number of courses and the quality of the food.

Food and drinks were good but service was horrible. It's like none of the servers ever worked at a restaurant before. We ordered one round of drinks and they didn't come out till we were already done with the appetizer. The servers attitude was evidently awful, and they never cleared out plates or gave us water refills. The cheese on the meatball sandwich was cold and was quite bland

I could honestly say that there was nothing I would change about my experience at Midtown Eats!!! We walked in on opening night and I was really surprised by the overhaul that had happened since Sup was located here. I love the old reclaimed wood that surrounded the restaurant and bar. Such a good feel! I have lived in Portland before and it reminded me more of something I would see there. Great vibe! Now about the food. Me and my wife wanted to start off with a drink, so my wife ended up with a great beer and I had a cocktail. There were 3 selections of beer on tap, I am not a big fan of massive draft list. I love when really restaurants really think and choose a select few but outstanding beers. I had a cocktail called the Plantation. I do not remember the exact ingredients but I do remember they muddled a little sugar with some fresh basil leaves and then there was gin, Cointreau, and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Very different but incredibly good. Probably the best cocktail i have had in a longtime. The drink was so balanced, the fresh basil really came through and the gin still the star in the drink, and it wasn't to sweet at all. Next we chose to have a small plate of fried okra. The batter on it was really light and crunchy and it was seasoned perfectly with salt. Salt is an ingredient so many chefs don't use correctly, i believe it should be used as a magnifying glass to the food, heightening the flavor of the ingredients, and this place seasoned everything we had just perfect. Its the details that count with food. Then for dinner we shared the teriyaki burger. Oh man soooo good! burger was cooked perfectly and again seasoning was spot on. It was topped with tempura shitake mushrooms which had a super light crunchy batter, and asain greens. It had a real nice teriyaki glaze, nothing overly sweet. And finally topped off with a wasabi mayo. I have had wasabi mayo a couple different times and it just didn't taste of fresh wasabi, at Midtown Eats they nailed it. Again I always look at the details, and the bun was obviously a fresh made bun with great texture and good color from the grill which really added a great layer of flavor to the burger. Sweet potato fries on the side which were delicious, it tasted like they put a little salt/sugar mixture on it which was great. I have been recommending this place to everyone of my friends. It really was such a good experience, me and my wife can't wait to go back. Also I want to mention that the owners and staff were very nice and made it feel very homey!!!

We came here on a Thursday evening and it wasn't busy at all. My wife had the atomic burger and I had the bison burger. The other two people in our party had a portobello burger and a lamb burger. Then we all shared the popcorn and the mac & cheese. Everything was amazing!!! The cocktails are delicious and the service couldn't be better. Our server Cady was so nice and very knowledgeable with the menu. She helped me decide on what to drink and eat and she was spot on in both choices. I will be sure to come back again!!

I really liked this place, not only is the decoration cool, but most importantly the food is so fresh and delicious. If you appreciate farm-to-table restaurant you should check Midtown eats out. I happened to be lunching with a friend at Midtown Eats yesterday, and had the chance to meet the owner, Ivan. He was behind the bar carefully creating a rosemary syrup for the all new Fall cocktail lineup. My friend and I took note because he'd actually put the rosemary leaves into the blender with the simple syrup, which had us asking all kinds of questions. Ivan came over to our table and started talking to us about his process for making the syrup, and while I was absorbing the words, what I felt was the insane amount of passion this guy has for what he does. You could see it in his face and his mannerisms, and in just how he spoke about it. Very cool. This all happened after a great lunch though. My friend Catie and I walked in and grabbed a nice table by the window. They had a special fried okra app, so we ordered that, and I ordered up the elk burger, rare-medium rare. When I asked for that temp, I was excited to hear the waitress ask if I'd wanted the reddish purple center on the burger. The burger came topped with an amazing roasted garlic aioli, arugula, and caramelized onions. This whole thing is the perfect combo of savory, spicy, gamey, and delicious! I'd order this again in a heart beat! It came with fries too, which I'd order well done next time, but the spice rub they dust them with is delicious as well. All in all, right now Midtown Eats is sitting high on my list of lunches for the future. I like that the menu changes frequently and that it's pretty concise, so you don't have too much to decide on. There weren't any specials that day, but I'm excited to see what they're working with in the future.

This place will blow your taste buds out of the water! Their burgers are amazing. When my girlfriend and I went we got the Bison burger and the Elk burger. Both were delicious! And they are accompanied with either French fries, a side salad or sweet potato fries! We both chose the sweet potato fries. We also had the pleasure of trying to of their "libations." We tried the Italian Sunburn and the Bee's Knees. I would not recommend the Bee's Knees unless because it had a very distinct lavender taste which I'm not a fan of. Overall this place is a must try when in Reno.

A great place for a cute little get together with gourmet burgers and fries. But just felt like this place was not exactly for everybody. Nor was the menu really phenomenal. Like i said adorable place to go for a date or a lunch get together. But for me I probably won't come back often just because it didn't exactly blew me away.

We tried this restaurant for the first time on Saturday & what the heck took us so long! The waitress was cool & laid back but quite efficient. My husband had the elk burger, he couldn't talk, it was that delicious, he said! To drink he chose a Speak Easy & loved it. I ordered the portobello burger & the house made grape soda. All the flavors were so fresh & yummy! We loved this place & can't wait to go back!

Connected with this place through fellow Yelpers while visiting Reno. A must go-to place for a burger and Cabernet or Beer. Absolutely amazing burgers, first timers should go with the Classic to get acclimated and set the bar. Don't let the mason jar water glasses fool you, this is a relaxing atmosphere with cool Tango/Jazz fusion tunes with a rocking bar. This is a must visit while in Reno.

Another lucky Yelp find. Saturday we left the GSR just before noon and wanted to find a new lunch place. Enter Midtown Eats. Good reviews, not far away. Score! Easy to miss on the street if you're not careful, but really worth the search. Also has limited space for seating, but it is worth waiting for. We came here with the kids so they could have a burger and we could try something different. We arrived early enough that we didn't have to wait even for a table for 6. The Good: Very nice décor from the tables to the jar/cups, and elsewhere. Now my favorite part... wait for it.... the whiskey selection - specifically the bourbon selection - is amazing. I've only been to 2 bars that had more quality bourbons, and I'm always looking. All the way from the entry level standards to the ridiculously hard to find ultra rarest. The bartender was gracious (and quite cute as well blue eyes and dark hair... but I digress) when I asked for a bottle that was about 12 feet up and hidden behind 2 other bottles. The rest of the bar was well stocked and they made a very good bloody mary for my friend. The server was efficient, friendly and refilled our waters as quickly as we could empty them. Now the food. We ordered the Sweet and Smoky Popcorn appetizer and it was awesome. Bourbon maple syrup and bacon SCORE! The fried avocado slices were good but could have been made amazing by amping up the accompanying sauces. I had the Summer Bean salad with fingerling potatoes, bacon, and feta. The perfect amount of vinaigrette, beans with a slight crunch and just enough bacon and feta to accent the beans. Yum! The classic burgers were well received by the kids, and my oldest loved the pulled pork sandwich. His only complaint was that he wanted more slaw on the side. The fries were very good and well spiced. They looked like natural cut fries and tasted great. The chicken and Bacon Sandwich was also very well executed with perfectly cooked chicken and a very flavorful pesto. The Bad: Nothing The Mediocre: It can be pretty loud if there are large groups there. There was a table of 10 guys talking and laughing and it echoed so much that I had to really concentrate to hear conversation ant my table. Overall: What a great find. If not for the bar, for the food and the great service. I'm a huge fan and can't wait to try them next time I'm in town. Thanks Midtown Eats!!!

Went here for the first time recently. I was definitely impressed. I had the portobello burger. It was really good, but I think they could go with a better bun, I'm not sure what kind it was but it was really dry, big and not flavorful. After eating 1/2 of the burger, I removed the rest of the bun and just ate the mushroom and the rest of the veggies. I also had the mushroom soup to start and it was phenomenal! Really outstanding!!! My sister had the arugula salad and it was very good as well. As for their alcohol selection it's a full bar with beers, wine, and cocktails. I think their food is priced perfectly but their drinks are over priced. This restaurant must think they are in Vegas or something. No reason for such a high up charge. If they lowered their prices just by $1 per drink it would be more reasonable. And I would have had 2 drinks instead of 1.

Came here for dinner with my husband on a Monday night and really liked the place! I had a St. Tropaz as a drink, which was made with rum, though it seems like most of the specialty cocktails feature bourbon. You have to try the popcorn appetizer. Its sticky with sweet maple syrup and bacon pieces. It's one of those foods you just can't stop shoveling in your mouth. Seriously addictive. The burgers here are also great, they have bison, elk, lamb, and spicy beef as offerings. And I must say, the olive marinade on the lamb burger was perfect. The sweet potato fries and mushroom soup were also perfectly done and very satisfying. For dessert we shared a small fishbowl (but seriously) of dark chocolate mousse with a toffee topping. SOOO good. The decor inside is really unique and well done. The drink specials are written out on butcher paper sheets on the wall, there's lots of highly polished wood on the bar, and even an old phone booth. Our server was really nice and attentive and we had a great time. I'll totally come back here again.

My boyfriend and I both agree on 4 stars. We were really unimpressed with the service, but the food and atmosphere was wonderful. Prices are a little higher, but we will gladly pay a little extra to have meals prepared by people who understand the concept of meat temperatures. Service: I was pretty sad about our server. She was unkind and uninterested. I said I was going to have water for the moment and was mentioning my drink contemplations while she was behind the bar, but she never came back to get a drink started for me. Instead, she ate her food while standing at the end of the bar. We've never seen anything like that! (We were sitting at the bar just 2 seats down!) She ate her entire meal standing at the bar. My boyfriend had to flag her down after she finished eating and started folding linens to grab me a beer. Pretty unreal. We also were never thanked for coming in, after paying or as we were leaving. She was the only factor that brought our rating down. Her name wasn't on the receipt though.... Just an unpleasant brunette who didn't wanna work a Monday lunch shift, I'm sure. Food: good god man. Our atomic burger and lamb burger were cooked to absolute perfection. Flavors were outstanding. The atomic burger was so atomic. So hot. My gums burnt after trying a bite of my honeys. I'm kind of a wimp but he LOVED it. I got the lamb burger and my guy and I both agreed that it was the freshest tasting burger we've ever had. Highly recommend it if you're looking for something new and different. The sweet potato fries were EPIC and my side salad with champagne vinaigrette was really yummy. I regretted not getting the sweet potato fries for myself though. G-dangit "healthy" salad. Stupid me. Seriously, just get the sweet potato fries no matter what. Drinks: we got 8$ beers that were a little pricey, probably because it was a nicer restaurant, and that's just the way it works. I saw a Bloody Mary being made (my weakness, but I didn't want to get too full for my lunch), the bartender didn't shake the mixture, which I disagree with, because it looked quite thick but very yummy. She also grated fresh horse radish right on top! Yum! Just wish they had all the garnishes daily. I hate when you can only get a good bloody during brunch. Ambiance: go and see for yourself. It. Service wasn't god-awful, I would definitely recommend this place regardless of our bartender. She may have been having a bad day. Long story short.... Eat here. Get sweet potato fries. Love your life. You're welcome.

After spending the day cleaning out the garage and going back and forth to the hair salon, we were looking to try something new. Of course, I turned to my bestie Yelp to find out what I had been missing in the city. Midtown Eats was the answer. We started off with the tempura okra, served with a balsamic aioli. I wasn't born in the south, but if the amount of fried okra you consume is an indicator, I should still live there. It was crispy, hot, and delicious. The tempura batter is a great spin on the typical batter, and though I was skeptical about the balsamic aioli I was definitely on the train after trying it. I had the basic cheeseburger, the hubs had the elk burger. Both were perfectly cooked (such a pet peeve of mine--over/undercooked hamburgers...if you're going to ask me how I want it then it should come out that way. If your cooks can't do that, don't ask. *steps off soapbox*). The bread was fresh and the toppings well melted/cooked/proportioned/etc. Instead of a side salad, I opted for the macaroni and cheese (because it was on the menu and that's what I do if it's on the menu). It was pretty good. Could have used a little stronger cheese flavor, but it was definitely worth the upcharge on the burger price. They have a nice beer selection, updated regularly on a roll of brown paper to the left of the bar. My one significant comment was that the bartenders (and waiters? I don't know, we sat at the bar) input orders on an iPhone. While that helps make the ordering more simple, it looks like your server is texting while he's talking to you. I'm all with technology and the like, but I'm used to seeing iPads used for that, not phones. I figured out eventually that he wasn't being extremely rude, but it did give me pause and took me a second.

I first came here when it first opened and loved it so whenever I have friends come into town for the holidays or just a weekend, I always bring them here. By far, this is the best place for a portobello burger in Reno. You can have it grilled or tempura. I like mine tempura because it adds an extra crunch to my burger. You also get a side of salad, regular fries or sweet potato fries. Sweet potatoes are my favorite here. I've tried almost all their burgers.. from atomic to portobello to bison and lamb. The only one I haven't tried is the elk so maybe one day I'll come by to try that. I bought a friend tonight and he got the classic burger which he loved. He said it was the best burger by far he had had during his stay this weekend. The ambience is always nice. With candles on every table and they don't really use lights, not the bright ones you see in restaurants. It's dim and nice for conversations and just to relax. I've also came here for Sunday brunch before and they had a really good brunch menu so definitely check that out if you're ever wandering around on a Sunday morning or maybe you just want a really good burger.

Came to this place based off of its reviews and they do not lie. The Chicken and Bacon Sandwich was a phenomenal sandwich. Full of so much flavor from the first bite to the last. Service was great. Definitely recommended.

In Reno to relax for a few nights and wandering around to find a cool place to eat. Happened upon Midtown Eats. So glad we did. Get the BLTA. Seriously the best BLT we've had. Great vibe. Pleasant staff. Outdoor seating. We'll be back.

Wasn't sure where to eat dinner at tonight but I've heard people rave about Midtown Eats so we decided to check it out. The restaurant was trendy and the atmosphere was great. It was pretty crowded around 7 when we came in but they were able to seat us right away. We had a few of the recommended cocktails at they were great. I ordered the herb roasted chicken which was recommended by the server Bruce. I wasn't expecting a half bird to come out on my plate so I was a little surprised but it was perfectly cooked and delicious. I would come back here just to have the entree again! My date was happy too he had the Atomic burger which was super spicy but really good! I would recommend this place to everyone. They had a variety of stuff on the menu and a huge selection of booze! The bartender Katie was cute too. We plan on coming back next week to check out the lunch menu

These bloody Mary's are divine!! The sweet potato fries incredible. The food is delectable. No matter what your mood, no matter the time of day from brunch to dinner, this is the place to come.

Started off with great drinks, ordered the beet salad for a starter. Delicious! Had the elk burger and fries. Amazing! Great ambiance. A 5 star easy! A must while in Reno.

The atomic burger (add bacon) here is one of the best burgers I have ever had! Seriously, this place is delicious. Great atmosphere and great service. My server is the normal bartender and death and taxes, but he serves/bartends on thursdays here. Go on a thursday you will not be disappointed. I also had homemade cheesecake with homemade jam they use to make their liqueurs at death and taxes. It was so good! Would recommend to anyone, especially for lunch. They also have great draft beers and amazing specialty drinks.

I simply love the cuisine at Midtown eats. We tried the maple, bacon popcorn and I found it simply delish and not to sweet, the sweet salty combo of that snack is great run up to the actual meal. Last night I tried the beef burger and found it cooked perfectly and the fries were crispy and salted perfectly. The large Whisky selection including some cask strength varieties is appreciated and the staff is always friendly and great to talk spirits with. If you haven't tried them yet you really should.

I would highly recommend this restaurant! I came in on a Thursday at about 2pm. There were barely any people at the restaurant because we came during the slow period between lunch and dinner. To start, I got the hefewiezen beer and it was delicious! For our meals we got the Banh Mi sandwhich with crispy chicken and the classic burger with bacon. Both meals were phenominal! I would definitely come back here, everything on the menu looks good & there is great customer service.

February 1, 2014 Saturday - lunch 12:45 PM 2 adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - I have been waiting to go here for a long time. Atmosphere - A small place in an old building. Wood is everywhere, making for a warm feel. The tables are very close to each other so it is hard not to talk to your neighbors about the food, which to me just adds to the charm of the place. When we walked in there were only two other tables were being used and one person at the bar. I was actually surprised that the place was so empty. When we left the place was packed, which was what I expected when we got there. Food Drinks - Just water for me. They give you a carafe of water for your mason jar also known as your water glass. Appetizer - skipped this. My Main Course - You had me at elk, yeah I went there with a Jerry MaGuire reference. I had the Elk burger. I have never had an elk burger before. I asked what the chef recommend when I was asked what his preference was how to cook the burger. It was finely ground and the burger had a texture like a sausage patty. Gruyere for the cheese on the burger, I love how this cheese melts and clings to things. Dessert - stuffed with quality food. Service - Our waiter worked his butt off as he had the entire front of the house and was the bartender for most of our time we were there. Future - Please please please I want to come back!

This place is so cute and intimate. Each table has little mini oil lamps in mason jars! My girlfriend and I visited last night after dinner at Silverpeak, for dessert. We had coffee and White Chocolate Bread pudding...WOW!! Lets start with the coffee. An adorable little french press was brought to the table, with whole cream and raw sugar. The coffee was so delicious! Then the waitress brought out our Bread Pudding which was covered in a melted white chocolate sauce. At first my friend and I were skeptical, thinking the chocolate may have over-powered the dish.. it did not! Maybe it was the magic of the french press..the smell of that coffee, or the taste of the bread pudding...either way, this little place has an air of nostalgia on their modern menu, and I fell in love!

The bison burger is hands down my favorite burger in Reno. The sweet potato fries complement it perfectly! The majority of their meat comes from local farms which makes this girl a happy hipster. There are not many places in Reno where I can order an array of meat products and know they are humane. I recently went here for Sunday brunch and discovered it's just as good as dinner! The eggs Benedict was spectacular-perfectly poached eggs and fresh squeezed OJ, super yum.

Midtown Eats is located in an area which has been undergoing some revival with tons of restaurants. The hamburgers are tall. Their menu is fairly limited but there are options for every palate. The burger was cooked to specifications. The sweet potato fries were excellent. Their fry sauce has a little kick to it but the fries held up without any sauce. Service was good. It's a small place and you wouldn't be able to pack 12 people at a table but if like small and cozy, this is a good place to come.

cute cute place!! Great decor and very hipster. Recommended to me by my best friend who visited a few months back. Went around 2:30 on a Sunday and was able to get seats at the bar without waiting. Drinks: - bf had the 'Kissin Cousin' which he said was one of the best bourbon drinks he has ever had. I had a few sips and it was really good. The flavors all go well together and you can taste the bourbon but it was not over-powering at all. Ingredients per their website: mellow corn bourbon, cio ciaro, concord grape, lemon, star anise trincture - I had the coffee which came in a cute French Press. Decent and strong Food: - I started with the mushroom soup. It was very good and full of mushrooms with a little spicy kick to it. My favorite dish of the menu. - bf got the elk burger. Juicy and the bun was very thick and able to hold up the juices. Amazing fries! - I got the BLTA. Pretty good but wasnt a wow factor at all. Ingredients per their website: brioche toast, bacon, mixed greens, tomato, avocado, aioli. All in all, great meal. As noted, cute place and I would definately recommend to all my friends.

Other then being small, the decor and atmosphere was wonderful! The staff was friendly and knowledgable! The food... Meh. The hubby ordered the steak and fries.. The fries were ok, nothing to write home about. The steak was ordered medium rare, it came well done, and oddly chewy, it was lacking flavor and didn't taste like a quality piece of meat. I got the steak salad. It was very lack luster too! The steak was flavorless and chewy, the salad didn't taste like anything special. We each ordered a few cocktails. I ordered the grapefruit champagne drink, it was lovely! And the cucumber smash, very refreshing! The hubby ordered a New York sour and a vessel 75, he loved them both, I enjoyed a sip of each, but would not order them. (They are both whiskey drinks, and I'm not a fan of whiskey) (so please do not take my word about these two drinks!!! The hubby said he would order them again!!!) im hoping we hit this place on a bad steak night! We might check it out again.

I've been away from Reno for over a year, but visiting here reaffirmed it as my favorite foodie spot in the city. Brunch is always a hit, and when you're craving a gourmet burger, don't fall for any of the gimmicks. Just go to Midtown Eats and take your pick. I've never been disappointed. Oh, and their shishito peppers are as good as it gets for appetizers

New in town- first time here! All around 5 star! Atmosphere was perfect. Music was perfect. Both cocktails my husband and I ordered were excellent. My roasted chicken dish was so tasty. Husband gave the burger a 4 star. Mac n cheese was a 5. It was a great experience and we'll be back for sure!

  • Lindsay R.

My experience here was good, not great. The staff was not very attentive to my friends and I. I had the atomic burger, avocado fries, and pork belly tacos. The burger was good, kinda bland. Avocado fries were as expected, and the pork belly tacos were ok. I feel like it's really hard to make perfect pork belly. The atmosphere is really pleasant with all the decorations, but I think this restaurant has outgrown the tiny space it runs in.

This place is great.... Shishito peppers with chorizo and a lamb burger roasted high end veggies (hold the fries) washed down with two Pilsners.... Haven't had quality like this in a while. Somebody cares in that kitchen!!!!

My boyfriend and I went here just this weekend with another couple because none of us had been here yet. It's actually a little upscale, especially when you come more towards the end of the night. The mood is definitely a little romantic with low lights. I didn't order a drink, but my boyfriend ordered a dark IPA beer which was actually quite delicious, and I'm not usually a fan of dark beer. I ordered the bison burger with sweet potato fries and the boy ordered the lamb burger with sweet potato fries. I don't know what the sauce was that came with the fries, but it was like a spicy mayo sauce of sorts and it was delicious! The bison burger was good (BBQ, bacon) but it did not blow me away. Tried the boys lamb burger and it was good as well, but the cheese (I thought, anyways) overpowered the burger a little too much. Fries were good; nice and crispy. The couple we were there with ordered a steak of some sort and a side of macaroni and cheese. They seemed to enjoy it, saying it was good, but a little on the rare side (I said better more rare then overdone). All three (not including me) tasted the mac and cheese and said it was amazing. Overall, I wasn't blow away by the burgers, as many other reviewers stated. Maybe I'm just biased because my boy makes a fantastic burger. Nevertheless, the meal and company was good and I'll definitely come back to try something else! The prices were a little more expensive than your normal joint but it wasn't too bad.

They were recommended by a friend and this gem did not disappoint! Tiny, rustic, chic but comfy. Super sweet waitress! Although the menu is somewhat small, every item we had was delicious and spot on. My roasted chicken had perfectly crispy skin and juicy meat, the beet salad was savory and flavorful and the Deviled Eggs with Olive Tapenade and Crustini was really different and delicious. A friend had the steak, which turned out perfectly medium, as ordered. Thanks for a special evening.

Been here twice, enjoyed the food and service both times. All the ingredients seemed fresh and I like that they use healthy ingredients in their dishes. I've only tried the buffalo and bison burger so far but they cooked them exactly as I ordered . The set up inside is small but nice, kind of an upscale imagining of a Wild West saloon. If I had any complaint it would be that parking is street only, but I'm really only splitting hairs.

This used to be my favorite restaurant. Now I feel like the wait staff is rude and they have an attitude about everyone that comes in. I don't appreciate being stared at and judged while eating. They also changed the recipe for a few items on the menu and did not adjust their descriptions. The portobello burger now has roasted tomatoes on it that make it very soggy, the cheese isn't a nice disc of mozzarella, and the onions are no longer marinated in balsamic. My most recent visit, I came in 5 minutes after "closing". The sign on the door had no closing time and there were people still receiving their meals. Was turned away.

Cady & Casey were amazing and super friendly!! This is a sweet little local joint that is both rustic and hipster. Wood, barn doors and the Edison lights with whiskey bottle shades create a nice vintage ambiance. The service was great! Good was also amazing - we had the tempura fried winter vegetables (to die for!), pappardelle pasta dish, and the classic hamburger with bacon. Also were super tasty and plated nicely. Terrific fries and sweet potato fries. Will definitely be back!

Really great! I had the classic burger, the one pictured above. it was great, come here with an appetite cause it was a lot to eat. the food was really oily, but the burger was much better than most in Reno.

Quaint breakfast / brunch / lunch eatery. Friendly staff to refill or provide carafe waters. Big selection of burger, pancakes, omelettes. All done well and tasty. French Toast actually has bourbon in it (watch out the kiddies). Price seems more like SF or NY than Reno. Clean and nice decor.

Did not live up to the hype. Brunch was mediocre and over priced. Food & drinks: Ordered: Mimosa Fizz French press coffee Avocado Toast w/2 eggs over-easy Brioche French toast Bacon Drinks were good, fairly priced. However they were out of the cardamom syrup for the Fizz, which is what makes the drink something unique. Coffee was also good (serving Hub coffee, so you can't really mess that up). Avocado French toast was incredibly over priced. The plate was one piece of toast, some avocado, arugula and 2 eggs, cost $13. Ridiculous. It was not well seasoned, fairly tasteless, and the over medium eggs were practically over-hard and cold. French toast was a good sized portion and the house made syrup was also tasty. However the "seasonal fruit" for this $12 dish was a couple pieces of banana. Understandably it's winter, but seriously? For this price you could lend the dish a bit more creativity. Winter, think cranberries or nuts! Bacon was under-cooked and floppy. Ain't nobody got time for floppy bacon. Ambiance: Turn the heat up! The place was cold cold cold. And you aren't fooling anyone with the tiny electric heater by the door. Service: Friendly and attentive waitstaff. Food did take longer than it should have, especially since there were only 4 tables with diners. Overall restaurant shows signs of poor management, lack of kitchen quality control, and a dearth of creativity. Not impressed, will not return for brunch.

That was a nice little lunch! Came in with my assistant today and we were seated immediately. Lucky enough to sit outside on a beautiful day.. Lucky because there are only two tables outside! As a matter of fact, we didn't even venture inside one step. Our server was Katie. She did a nice job - kinda like the food, a nice job. I had the turkey, bacon sandwich with a side salad and she had the spinach salad. My sandy was great. Perfectly toasted bread and melted gouda cheese over turkey and bacon with carmelized onions. The salad was made with fresh spring greens with a light balsamic dressing. Well done my friend, well done. The spinach salad was very nice. Only complaint - she said it was so good she should have ordered three and ate one for every meal.

TLDR: Good vibe, bad food prep, bad service. The Good Parts: - Good vibe, small, intimate, lots of reclaimed wood and old school light bulbs - Menu looks good, interesting options like Elk and Bison burgers The Bard Parts: [My wife's order] - My wife ordered a medium rare burger and it came out well done. The waitress never checked up on us and we were so hungry after the long wait to consider sending it back - My wife absolutely loves sweet potato fries. We didn't see them as an option for burgers, our waitress didn't tell us they were available, but the other server working was telling everyone and their mother about them. - My wife ordered a burger that came with white cheddar, but they were out of white cheddar. [My order] - The sandwich I ordered (the Italian bacon) was served open face (this was not mentioned on the menu). I would not have ordered an open face sandwich, they are always a PITA to eat. - The sandwich I ordered comes on brioche, which is PITA to cut with a butter knife. I ended up stealing my wife's burger knife and it was still a PITA to cut. - The pancetta (the bacon in my Italian bacon sandwich) was not crispy, and was almost impossible to cut with a knife. - I had a coke with my lunch and never once got a refill.

Even though they do not take reservations they held a table for my party of 4. The staff is incredible and so hospitable. Prior to the dining experience we sat down for cocktails at the bar. Mixology at its finest. You know before the drink is in hand that it will be superb and indeed every drink is. The fried Ochra and shishito peppers were terrific. This is a great spot for a romantic fun evening. The ambiance, music, food and staff are great. Highly recommended

Very limited menu and it's ridiculously expensive! In addition, the tables are packed in this place so tightly that you basically end up sharing a meal with the strangers next to you. I'd pass on dining here, unless you want to pay $16 for a burger and another $8 if you want a side dish, make it $10 if you want bacon on your side of Mac&cheese....$2 extra just to add little pieces of bacon, ridiculous!

Went here for brunch and had the pulled pork sandwich and crepes. The pulled pork was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The bun seemed like a homemade hoagie with a nice texture and held up well to the moistness of the pulled pork. The cabbage gave a little crunch, texture, and balance to the sweetness of the pork. Overall, one of the best sandwiches that I've had. The crepes were equally as delicious. They had fresh fruit and creme fraiche and had just the right level of sweetness. Ordinarily I don't give 5 stars on my first dining experience so I'll be back and if it's equally as good then Midtown Eats is likely to move up in my ratings.

Nice little find in Reno. Intimate and small menu but everything is tasty! Shared Steak and frites for dinner as well as Cobb salad. Had a hard time finishing all the food. Frites were a little salty. We started the night with tempura okra (yummy, peppery) and a St Tropez cocktail (also yummy). Very happy with this night out!

Bumped up to 5 stars for being consistently good to great. Have never had a bad meal for brunch, lunch, or dinner period. Not too shabby. The cocktails and beer to boot and still reasonable prices. Certainly becoming a midtown institution if not already. You should go IMHO and not be disappointed... I haven't yet

They have a great selection of drinks and I enjoy that they change their menu every season. I went for lunch one time with friends and had a great experience. I have had their tacos before, which were great for lunch. I also enjoyed a quinoa salad. It was great and tasty filled with fresh and crisp veggies. It was great for the quinoa kick that everyone is on. Their truffle mac and cheese is to die for. Get that as a side! This place is great for smaller parties. Keep in mind that it is a very tiny restaurant. I got invited to celebrate a friend's birthday party here. It ended up being too many people for this little place. They had a hard time handling our bill and things could not get sorted out correctly. So, beware if you come with a party that needs to split checks. I would really like to go back to try their Sunday Brunch.

Stopped in for lunch on our way through Reno during a cross-country road trip. Food was excellent and the service was very friendly and fast. The Atomic Burger was a good size and super delicious and the sweet potato fries were awesome. The sauce has the spiciness which kicks in after a few bites...soooo good.

I just changed our wedding RSVP cards. The used to read, so very tiredly: __Chicken __Steak __Fish Bleh! For a person who is hell-bent on *never* wasting a meal, the proof of my RSVP card left my stomach less inspired than when I saw the very short list of things you are allowed to eat on the paleo diet. The card now reads: __Duck Confit __Filet Mignon __Fish Two out of three options just became more delectable. But the point is, that we scrapped chicken for duck. Why? Because my venue serves duck legs confit, and nothing screams love louder than a salt-cured leg of dark meat cooked in its own fat... Nothing! So why would I order a burger just anywhere when Midtown Eats serves a duck confit sandwich? Why would I waste a meal? I wouldn't. #yolo.

Good food ruined by Jessica's attitude. I would not suggest going there as a group, they don't like to cater to you, and splitting the check is nearly impossible. Made the experience not worth re-living. Never had such a pompous waitress

This place has the BEST fries. Seriously. Do not go to McDonalds. Do not go to In N Out. Do not go to wherever you formerly thought had the best fries. Sweet potato or classic, they're crispy, crunchy, and perfect for dipping. I've had the mushroom burger and the lamb burger- can't say I was a big fan of the lamb burger, but then again, maybe someone who really likes lamb would like it. The mushroom burger was very good, however. I don't think they have the truffle mac n cheese anymore- but it was superb. I do believe they still have regular mac n cheese though, which I'm sure is just as good. I think it's gotten more popular now but it used to be a nice "hidden gem" that not many people knew about. They deserve the popularity though. Also, another thing- they kicked out two groups for being rowdy, which I thought was..funny? It was just the way the owner did it lol. There's also outside seating, which I'm sure is great for summer. Give this place a try if you're looking for something new!

We sat outside And the server took about 10 minutes just to put a drink order in. Our food was really not that good we got the benedicts and the Bloody Mary looked nothing like the one posted in someone else's review on here. Wouldn't go back.

"I need whiskey and chocolate! And not in that order" was what my friend said as we walked in. It's a pleasant atmosphere, plenty of candles everywhere setting the mood for nice evening of conversation and meal. Ofcourse it was impromptu and I'm in my gym clothes but that's neither here nor their. Liquor behind the bar reaching the ceiling from the floor let's you know. Drink special wrote on brown butcher paper let's you know they are striving for creative options for libations. Now just to be clear I ordered a salad which to it's credit was oh so good, the Cobb with chicken. We got the tempura okra and enjoyed that to start. The soup was already done for the evening so I didn't get to enjoy that. Now my friend crystal got the osso buco. I just want that to sink in for a second..........ok not to be clear she's new to osso, but has exquisite taste in fine eating establishments around the globe. "This is the best osso buco I have ever had and a great meal full of flavor and taste I haven't had in a long minute." So ofcourse I had to try. And I was not disappointed. Enjoy

Yikes! My husband and I returned to Reno again and the only place I wanted to be was this restaurant. I've raved about this place for months. Total disappointment today..... We walked in right at 11:08 am and were the first people there. The sign on the door says "pretty please wait to be seated". No one was up front to greet us, so we waited patiently. After about 5 minutes we here F-bomb after F-bomb coming from the hallway back toward the kitchen. There is a pissed off guy cussing loud at someone on the phone, when he spotted us, he got off, but made us feel totally unwelcome, like we were intruding.... He was our waiter. He didn't even come from back behind the counter, he just ordered us to have a seat by the window. He was visibly still pissed about whatever he was cussing about on the phone.... He came over and said nothing, but handed us menus.... I was totally uncomfortable at this point and just wanted to leave..... Cussing doesn't bother us, but jerks do.... He came over and said NOTHING again, but dropped off our water carafe. I really, really wanted to order a Bloody Mary like last time I was there... But we were never offered to order drinks...... Our burgers were bland this time and burnt. The sweet potato fries were good. I would have told him about us being dissatisfied with our food if he was at all approachable whatsoever, but he was seriously the biggest jerk of a waiter I have EVER encountered. Lame. What a crappy experience. Won't be singing the praises of this place anymore.

Delicious! We went there last night for dinner. We are very un-cool so we got there around 5:30pm so the place only had 2 tables filled. The bar is very cool. Kind of made me want to go out and order a gin.... Great Service. Scott our server was completely charming. Wine isn't too pricy. We ordered the delicious and tasty Arugula Salad, Osso Bucco, Classic Burger and a creme brûlée for dessert. Wow! Have to go back for breakfast.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for fresh all natural/ organic food. It is the Whole Foods of local restaurants! Their roasted hatch peppers are delicious and definitely leaves me ready for my meal. What an appetizer is supposed to do! I always got myself their elk burger. So rich! Never had elk before then but it was fantastic. I finished off the night with a french pressed espresso from a local roaster. This coffee was so good I may have stolen my girlfriends when she was up... This experience introduced me to The Hub, a local roaster in Reno.

So I ate here a couple years ago and hated it. Actually, to be fair, I was so upset I didn't eat. The staff upon walking in the restaurant was rude, as though me being there was inconveniencing him. Then when he finally sat me, nothing on the menu was interesting, so I got up and left. First and only time I've ever done that anywhere. Fast forward to recently and I met someone for lunch. The waitress was great and the food exceptional. I love the ambiance and will definitely return for their sweet potato fries. Some think there is no way to screw up a burger. There is. This place however does not, their burgers are delicious!

Welcome to a mason jar paradise... Minimalist contemporary design turns these little canning tokens of the country into the main decorative element. Along with some reclaimed wood finishings, and a chalkboard, one might mistake their surroundings for a San Francisco back alley bistro. Nay, dear foodie. Nay. Behold, as shocking as it may seem, thou art in Reno. Midtown Eats has yet to disappoint me. I would venture to say that it never shall. My gluten-sensititvity was accommodated with care (the chef even made a point of telling me that the macaroni contained gluten, which was super thoughtful....thooooough I hadn't ordered it). I adore the vibe of this place. The servers are spectacular; the food, even more-so. Their menu of specialty cocktails is a real gem, make sure to splurge and order something unique. To use one of my favorite movie quotes (bonus points to you if you recognize it): "damn, we're in a tight spot". The place is on the smaller side. So maybe take your parties of 12+ to the Olive Garden. Magnifique! I shall be back...

I've had two of their burgers (Bbq bison & a grassfed beef more traditional burger) Both were great. But what I really want to talk about is their Steak Frites. A huge steak! Perfect frites small and crunchy. AND THE SAUCE!!...yup its bomb kind of creamy and rich, right on the edge of gravy. It soaks in with the frites and if you are intelligent enough to get it all on the same fork. Your mind will be blown. Oh, and a super hip bar selection!!!... I highly recommend this joint. Especially for the Reno area. It's a total diamond in the rough. If ur at the casinos do yourself a favor and walk there it's ten minutes. Boycott casino foods!!

Went there for dinner with my girlfriend after experiencing a great breakfast and was not disappointed. My g.f. had a hamburger and I had the elk burger that I requested without a bun. They served it on a bed of greens which was great by me. It was awesome. Perfectly cooked and rich. We also had pork belly tacos and tempura veggies. Both were amazing. I wasn't expecting much from the tempura veggies as I've had these as various sushi joints but these blew anything I've had away. They were omnomnom good. For drinks I had a limited edition Lagunitas pilsner (or lager?) I've never seen in stores. It was 10% abv but tasted sooo smooth. My girlfriend had some fruity drink. I can't remember the exact ingredients but it was really good. I could have slurped down 4 of those but at $9 a pop that would have been a bad idea + a hangover :P.

The peach bourbon french toast, huevos rancheros, and bloody marys were delish. All the wait staff were super nice. Came in around noon Sunday and there was no wait; a pleasant departure from what I'm used to in San Francisco. This place definitely exceeded my expectations. The design is amazing. Their wall of cocktail bitters makes me envious I won't be back sooner to enjoy them!

I was really looking forward to eating at Midtown Eats after reading the reviews and menu items. Unfortunately, my visit ended up being a disappointment. First off, it's a hipster joint in the now "Midtown" area of Reno. I haven't chilled in Reno for about 4 years now, so I had no idea how hipster-laden it has become. No worries, though. I like the hipster scene. In doses. However, I have no tolerance for folks who treat me as if I'm going to steal from them. (Yes, this happened to me when I sat down next to a woman who had her wallet and phone on the bench.) I didn't take this out on the restaurant, but it did let me know about the crowd I was dealing with. I ordered the atomic burger cooked medium (sans the bun) with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries were delicious, and that's where the 2 stars come from. My burger on the other hand... Where was the seasoning? I suppose they think the salsa on top of the patty carries enough flavor, but it does not. There really is no substitution for seasoning meat, especially grass-fed. The salsa was nice and spicy, and I appreciated the greens I requested in lieu of a bun. However, the lack of flavor from the meat really killed my experience. (And this is not because I didn't have bread, because I've been eating burgers without bread for quite some time.) If I return, I'll stay away from the burgers.

The staff is rude. If the food wasn't amazing they would have been rated one star. I've worked in retail for eight years and I understand that even when I'm having a bad day, I have to slap on a smile and suck it up. I would only ever consider coming back here if they hired new staff.

The decoration attracts, hipster alike.. Trendy! My side of seasonal veggies was very tasty, and the ATOMIC Burger was Amazing! (Spicy lovers) I need to go back..! For the food! The waiter was very quiet, she was almost snotty? Looked annoyed..

We ended up here quite accidentally. We intended to go to Süp, but had not paid attention to Sunday closures. A quick look at Yelp revealed that MTE was just down the block. Sundays at MTE only last til 3:00 so we were near the tail end of the day. The menu was small but simple, which made it easy to make a selection...except that I wanted everything. The staff was helpful and efficient but not pushy. We enjoyed the Midtown Benedict with Tri Tip and the Eggs and Avocado Toast with Tomatos. Both dishes were fantastic with good portions. The bar selections were super diverse, but today was not the day for that. As others have said, there is no reason to eat at a chain restaurant or endure bad food in Reno.

The lamb burger is life changing. Honestly in my opinion a perfect combo of feta, sun dried tomatoes and arugula topping the lamb patty. We came here on a whim and I'll definitely be a return customer. The sweet potatoes fries were crispy, just the way i like them and the service was fast. Check out the bar too, very impressive.

An update for brunch. I have been hearing about how good the brunch was at Midtown Eats. I thought we were going to be eating a bit later so I made myself a bowl of Frosted Mini-Wheats beforehand. I did not for a second think that the better of two meals I'd have that morning would be the cereal. Bear in mind that this is not to disparage the Mini-Wheats; it is one of the best cereals. But when Huevos Rancheros are calling my name, I fully expect them to outperform those sweet, wheaty biscuits. No, this is not the last time my review will discuss my pre-game bowl of cereal. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival that the brunch crowd was not in our way of getting a table immediately. That pleasant surprise was followed by a decidedly unpleasant surprise of a ten-minute wait to get a simple carafe of water for the table and subsequent five-minute wait to get our order. The place was just not that busy, my food service empathy could not even kick in. Next problem, the coffee. So a french press coffee for 4 costs $10. Fine, but I did not realize how little coffee they think a person needs. I get that we're not at a diner, but wow. I could have had the whole four-person pot myself. And at the price, it is a tremendous rip off. I think we're getting to the point in craft coffee roasting that you need to disclose the flavor profile of the coffee you are serving on the menu. I was not prepared for such a berry-ish coffee. And if I had known that the coffee was going to be of that sort, I would not have signed on for the exorbitant charge. I have to be in the mood for that kind of coffee! Then comes the half-hour wait for the food. By this point I've already finished my shot of coffee and now I can't have any coffee with my meal, which is surely a breakfast crime. So I'm forced to have my huevos rancheros with water. However, coffee between bites couldn't save how average this dish was. It was oddly wet. Not in a saucy way, just in a wetty way. Like the tortilla is sweating. Pico de gallo? Should have called it piqueno de gallo. That's Spanish for small, as in there was hardly any. Could the sauce have been more mild? Yes, technically, but there was no distinguishable kick to the sauce. My friend ordered a side of fruit. When asked what fruit would be in the bowl the waiter said "berries, peaches, maybe an apple." How nice it was to hear a fruit side that didn't include any flavor penetrating melon. The weird thing, though, is that not only did the bowl not include peaches, I have never been able to count the exact number of pieces of fruit in a bowl by just looking. The count: 3 blackberries, 3 strawberries, 3 unbelievably thin slices of apple. The strawberries were cut like they were supposed to be fanned, but apparently actually fanning them would take too much time. I think the server rolled his eyes so hard it made a sound like the cracking of a whip when we asked to split the bill. And what's worse? I'm not even full. Remember that I ate a bowl of Frosted Mini-Wheats a meager hour before this meal. Those who have eaten the cereal before know that they are like little milk bricks in your stomach. I should not still be hungry. I had to go home and make a smoothie! The home fries were good, but it felt nothing like home to me. Not to mention the dude next to us got served almost instantly and was given twice the amount of home fries. This is why I rent. I will advise the reader to skip the breakfast and go for the Atomic Burger for lunch or dinner.

The burgers here are amazing. I've had several different ones on the menu, and none have disappointed. My GF brought me here for my birthday and it was so good I came back again the next day. It's very casual with a purposeful cabin-esque ambience. The drinks are flavorful and full of liquor as well. Definitely a great place for a casual dining experience with fine-dining caliber food. The waitstaff is always friendly and professional as well. I have nothing but great things to say about the place.

Trendy yupster vibe that somehow feels more San Francisco than Reno. I stopped by recently at the tail end of the lunch hour, and this place was still packed to the brim with young professionals and people talking business. Service was courteous, if a bit slow because of the crowds they get, and the decor feels simultaneously rustic and minimalist, with wooden chairs and water served in jam jars. The place is fairly small and intimate, as there's room for maybe 40 people max. My bison burger was meaty and tasty, with a savory bourbon bacon barbeque sauce, cheddar, and tempura onions adding a mélange of sweetness, tanginess, and crunchiness. Overall, a burger that was fulfilling and simply too good to put down without finishing all at once. A welcome addition to a stretch of Midtown that seems all too easy to drive past without a thought. Thanks Yelpers for a great find in Reno!

Ate here for dinner after reading reviews. Excellent food. Had a salad and burger then the bread pudding for dessert. The flavors were most awesome. A little noisy but to be expected for the size of the place. Get here early or you will be waiting. Great choice this trip to reno.

First time coming here. We weren't expecting such a "limited menu," but in the end, we figured it's better to be amazing at a few things than mediocre on a lot of things. Although the entire seating area is quite small, the modern-rustic decor is awesome. I had the sandwich special, BBQ pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, with a mixed greens salad instead of fries, and an iced tea. I ate the salad first, which was simple but delicious. The dressing was very, very good. I love a good BBQ pulled pork sandwich, but sometimes the sauce overpowers the entire sandwich, but this sandwich was excellent. It had just the right amount of flavor and sauce, and I love it topped with coleslaw. Overall, it was delicious. My husband had the wild mushroom soup and Atomic Burger and seasoned fries. He said the soup was great and the burger was awesome -- every bit as spicy as the menu description promised. The seasoning on the fries was really good, too. We will definitely come back. Especially, if we want to meet friends out for drinks. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because our service was a little off. Not horrible, but we surmised that one of the staff members arrived late, and so the bartender was pulling double-duty by also hosting and waiting tables. It will not prevent us from coming back, however.

Awesome wait staff (not including dark-bearded bartender) and ambiance. Perfect for Reno!:) Super friendly and efficient waiters. Loved our food! Best midtown food I've had thus far. I love the hipster vibe and all the mason jar decor. I tried their homemade peach soda and it was delicious. The mushroom soup is to die for if you're into that kinda thing! Definitely would recommend and visit again :)

Service and food was excellent especially bartender/ server Katie! Highly recommend this eatery. I had the atomic burger and the meat was cooked perfectly to requested and the spice level was perfect! My date had the herb roasted chicken and it was to die for! Best roasted chicken I've ever had and the portion size was ginormous! Worth every penny! The server Bruce was also extremely nice and helpful and the wait time was far less than expected.

I've been to Midtown twice. First, the good: the ribeye is excellent. The bad: on our most recent visit, the kitchen could not get the meat temperatures correct. The burger, ordered medium rare, was well-well and dry as a bone, presented on a burnt bun. My medium rare ribeye was also well-well. The server was unapologetic and I asked for both dishes to be re-fired. Twenty minutes later my steak comes out, perfect but with old fries now cold and soggy, but my guest's burger is nowhere. Adding insult to injury, the table next to us has three burgers served while our burger is still not presented (theirs were also all overcooked, and missing items). I told the server I didn't want to eat alone. Her response "it's not my fault." We opted to share the steak and cancel the burger. As an aside, the hummus and baba ghanoush were horrible. The service was terrible, and as good as the steak was, we will not be back.

Amazing burgers and sweet potato fries - mushroom soup is so yummy, while the peppers are addicting. Good beer and wine selection. This place is prob one of my favorites in town and tell everyone to go there! Kind of reminds me of San Fran a lil bit! :) Enjoy!!

The atmosphere is great, clean yet rustic! I split the Atomic burger with sweet potato fries and bacon Mac and cheese with my husband. It was all delicious!! The seating is a bit tight but it wasn't very busy so it was ok. I will definitely be back

They craft their select menu to have SOMETHING for everyone. They keep it so it's not 10 burgers and one salad. It's a burger or two, A salad or two, a sandwich or two. Everything I've ever had from this place is VERY good to Amazing. Padron peppers still my top appetizer. The falafel is the best in town. Pork belly is always trimmed to give flavor and not overpower the dish. Food is very affordable for lunch and dinner. Not a huge place, not a huge menu. And I like it that way. IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN! Please. Please. Stop eating at chain places or just go for a cheap buffet. This town has some of the best food. Now for a tiny rant about something I'm reading a lot on here. People drop the "hipster" term around, I agree that the mason jars and stuff give it that flare. HOWEVER. Most Hipsters find being nice to people make you a corporate slave who might as well work at Starbucks or TGIFridays. So when you go to a hipster place, you're treated like they are doing you an unrequited favor - instead of their job. This place is NOT like that. Everyone there is genuinely friendly, they'd love to help you out picking something out or suggesting you something to try. They aren't sickly sweet and fake. They are a friendly person you'd meet at a party when you don't know anyone there. Maybe our Hipsters in Reno are the least elitist Hipsters in the US. Less eye rolls than San Francisco or Portland per square block.

The food is good, the service is abysmal. I had lunch @ the bar TODAY. Maybe if I were more of a hipster, I would have gotten better service., As it is I would not cross the curb to urinate on this place if it were on fire. The food was good, as was the beer. My problem is the service, it was slow, surly, disinterested & down right rude. I am a NATIVE of MANHATTAN & found them rude. The servers were more interested in discussing who was "zooming" whom then waiting on customers. The barman,( my server) was also enraptured w/ his smart phone. Maybe my order offended his hipster sensibilities, I don't know or care. I asked what I thought of as intelligent questions. I got "yeah yeah yeah" in reply. I do not have a suggestion of an alternative, but I shall find one. I will not be returning. As a cab driver, I will most likely spread my opinion widely as well.

Gave this place two tries for brunch. The first time the service was outright rude and the food was served cold. The second time the service was slightly better, but not only did the food arrive cold but so did the coffee. You have to work to make french press coffee cold. I suspect the food just sits back in the kitchen after it's made and the servers get to it when they feel like it. What else justifies taking 10 minutes to deliver coffee and 45 minutes to deliver breakfast when the place is half empty? Also it is very difficult to have a conversation in this place, odd acoustics mixed with music played too loud.

Love this mid-town joint right on Virginia. It's small, intimate and has a great vibe and clearly folks who care about making good food and cocktails. Fried okra is fantastic and so is the rib eye, but the special pork chop I got the last time I was there was out of the world! Maybe the best pork chop i've ever had. Love this place...you will too.

Amazing apple pie with ice cream desert. Phenomenal Luna cab sav wine, spectacularly fresh classic burger. Mushroom soup is to-die-for (and this is coming from a person who's tradition is from a country that's signature is mushroom soup) Simply Awesome.

Woah, Midtown Eats is up there with the best of them! I really, really enjoyed my experience at Midtown Eats. I went by myself and snagged a seat at the bar. Keep in mind, this place is pretty small. I had a few Moscow Mules to get the ball rolling... and did the burger with sweet potato fries. The fries came with a chipotle dipping sauce that was pretty damn delicious. The staff here is quick, efficient and friendly. I look forward to going back soon and trying some of their other menu items.

OMG this place is soo amazing, tried the atomic burger and oh man it was a perfect balance of hotness and favor... this has been the best burger by far. I've only had Midtown Eats three times... but so far, so good! I had a veggie sandwich (forgot what it was called...) and sweet potato fries. Both were delicious! The portobello burger (tempura) was suuper yummy, too. I had that one to-go, so it wasn't crunchy by the time I ate it, but since it was still good when I had it 8 hours later, I imagine having it fresh is amazing. The lamb burger was okay, I think because I'm not a big lamb-eater. Friends thought it was awesome though. The atomic burger, of course, is great! I love spicy, so this only had a bit of a tang for me. Nonetheless, good! The salad is mediocre... Also love the atmosphere of the place. Service is friendly.

Horrible service! I've been in here 4 times and each time have consistently been greeted and treated with ambivalence by the serving staff. I have spoken to many others who have shared this experience. It's a cool place with a nice atmosphere and pretty good food. Unfortunately, none of this outweighs the consistently poor service, so I will never go back.

Went here for brunch last sunday with my parents and girlfriend, simply amazing! We showed up on time and got a call from the parentals they were running behind. Our very intuitive waiter offered us some crepes to tide us over in a stroke of genius. Beyond the nice treat of getting great service, the unlisted crepes were DELICIOUS! Shortly thereafter our tardy guests showed and I had the tri tip benedict with the slightly citrus hollandaise. The variation was a welcome change to the ho hum food climate in Reno. Needless to say I'll be coming back and regularly!

So this used to be the Sup location, and can I say that it looks 100 times better inside with the old saloon motif. My wife and I went in to eat lunch, the Atomic burger was very good accompanied by the sweet potato fries. Lots of really good looking drinks in the drink menu. My wife had the tri tip philly and it was as good as the burger. Very good and will visit again soon

Had a fish taco, a steak taco and a Schneider's hefeweizen half liter bottle. Sat at the bar. I was in a hurry but I wish I could have stayed longer. I like what they've done with the place. Friendly, light and feels open for a relatively small place. I'll go again.

We did one of urban hikes around the Old Southwest and stopped in here for lunch on a weekday. The atmosphere was casual and friendly and funky and we were quickly waited on and seated (two other couples already seated). Even though we are straight gin drinkers we tried a couple of the fancy cocktails on the menu and the presentation was awesome and they tasted great too. She had the mac and cheese and some kind of salad thing and I had the Atomic Burger and everything was well prepared, unique and tasty. With the atmosphere, friendly professional service, fun drinks and great food, this is a nice place to take a date.

I came in for Saturday lunch and Sunday brunch, and it gets 5 stars for food, spirits, service and decor. You can tell these folks care about the details. Loved the food, the cocktail list, and the beer selection. I wish Midtown Eats was in San Francisco so I could be there more often, but I'll be back in every time I visit Reno.

Awesome, simple decor. Easily reminds me of a San Francisco eatery. My boyfriend and I went in for lunch today. I ordered the "vegan" sandwich with sweet potato fries. He ordered the tempura portabello sandwich. Both were very, very good. Simple flavors and combinations. Everything was just a bit too salty, but I am sure that will taper out.

BBQ Pork Ribs - Terrible My plate came out "finger hot" like too hot to touch. Made me believe the ribs were microwaved after being cook the day(s) before. The BBQ sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle and completely smothered only the top side. (way too much). I sampled only a part of 3 out of 4 ribs served--dried out and overcooked. I wish I called out the chef, but decided not to because the other 3 people at my table loved their meal. Maybe I picked the wrong dinner item, but at $26 for 4 ribs, I was very disappointed. Stay away from this one, because the cornbread was also small and ordinary.

My partners and I are so glad this little eatery is open for a great late lunch and so close to work! The quinoa salad was tasty, but the real stars of the show are the tri-tip and fish tacos. They are on the small side but delicious and filling none the less. Loved the habenero sauce with just enough avocado to cool things down. The burgers also looked interesting. The rustic interior could be a little more comfortable, i.e. maybe a couple of cushions for this old man's you know what! The service was prompt and we left satisfied. We all agreed that we would be back to sample their libation and dinner menus.

What a perfect meal. I had the French press coffee which was to die for along with the bison burger with a side salad. Hubby got the bacon blue cheese burger with the sweet potato fries and I will say that these really are the best. They take mixology to the highest level and their cocktail list would be envied by any bar in a major U.S. city.

Atmosphere: Light and creative, very 2011 with repurposed furnishings and a hint of antique-iness. Classic rock a bit a bit overwhelming and too loud for conversation. Service: Friendly and attentive. Mostly knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. A few kinks to work out: bartender waited tables, someone from the back of the house out front to wait tables, greeter also pulling double-duty; a bit chaotic and out of sync. Drinks: An extensive menu of alcoholic concoctions, most with homemade components (fresh juices, fresh herbs, muddled this and that). Had something with vodka, strawberries and soda that was not too sweet and very enjoyable. My second was a twist on a classic, and quite, er, short for the price* Food: Menu has four major categories: soup/salads, burgers, entrees, sides. I started with the carrot/ginger soup. Good flavor, but a bit on the thin side. The garnish, while interesting and quite tasty, was too big to fit on the spoon and cumbersome to eat. Chose the salmon entree; a generous portion blackened with hoisin glaze over baby bok choy and tempura shiitake mushrooms. Mushrooms a nice surprise, but veggies steamed to near destruction. Salmon coated in cracked pepper, a bit overpowering for the delicate hoisin. I wasn't super happy with it. Overall impressions: New place, needs to work out some kinks. I spent a little over $50 on two drinks and dinner, which unfortunately for me puts this place in the "special occasion" category. I don't mind paying for a really good meal, but I didn't find it at Midtown Eats, sadly. Cocktails excellent, food so-so. * There are no prices on the cocktail menu. When the bill came, what was ordered was listed, but there were no prices next to any of the items. Just a total. Unacceptable.

With two small kids, we don't get out to eat very often, so when the opportunity arose, I used Yelp to help us find a new place to try. My husband was reluctant, but I told him the reviews were very positive and said we should give it a go. We were not disappointed. I had the Chicken Sandwich and sweet potato fries which a lot of people raved about. Yes, they are as good as I was hoping and the dipping sauce was amazing. My hubby got the Atomic Burger, and YUM, I'm glad he shared with me! The burgers are big and juicy and the bun was not your average bun. I could have done without the $10 Sweetwater that a lot of people raved about. It wasn't bad, but just not necessarily my thing. I think next time I'll stick to beer or wine. I was eager to try the Creme Brule, but ended up somewhat disappointed. To me, Creme Brule should be served cold, and this tasted like it was hot out of the oven. I would have preferred it if they would have said they were out, rather than give me a $7 "not quite ready" dessert. All in all, the food was good, staff very friendly, prices very reasonable. I will go back.

I've been here 3 times now. Each time the food is amazing and the service is atrocious. They have all these great cocktails but if there are more than a handful of people in the place, it'll take you 15 or more minutes to get one. Tonight the bar got our already very tardy drinks mixed up with those of another table and the server did not get around for us to tell him for quite a while longer. We tried to flag him down after a few minutes to tell him the mistake but he told us he was doing something else and would be right back with us. So after all that it took us about 25 minutes to get drinks. The table next to ours was obviously having the same problem. The way their service is structured seems deeply flawed to me. You have the 2 servers running around all over the place when on a crowded night there need to be at least 2 more and you have a busser type person who seems powerless to help you except refill water We told our waiter we were ready to order but he insisted on going off and doing something else at the time. He also seemed confused and flustered the whole time he was with us, forgetting from one second to the next what we had just ordered-- and there were only 2 of us sharing 2 appetizers and one entree with no modifications to anything. The staff needs to seriously rework their steps-of-service plan to be more efficient. I'm giving 3 stars, however, because as I mentioned above, the food is excellent. I would say try to go when it will not be crowded, like a Tuesday evening or something, and don't miss the truffle mac and cheese. I've also had the lamb burger and the pork ribs. Unique, delightful flavors in their sauces. A very small menu but executed perfectly. If the service were better this place would be a Reno top 5. Every time I go, however, it takes 15 or so minutes to even get going on the meal and that's after waiting a while for a table. If you're the kind of person for whom that will ruin the experience, you had better pass on it but if you are willing to be annoyed a little for some great food, hell, give it a shot.

This place has the best breakfast/brunch in town! I've been here on multiple trips to Reno and over 6 times. I love the eggs benedict and they are generous with the coffee. I also came here for dinner on a friday night and ordered a steak which was ok. Overall the w.ait is short and the food consistently good

Great new place. Way better than most anything else going on in Reno. I came in for lunch and want to come back for dinner. They have done wonders with the former Sup space. Vibe is very reclaimed modern San Francisco. Had the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. Enjoyed the slaw (on the sandwich) and loved the sauce. Great bartender. Cool bar and the cocktail menu looks great.

Passing through Reno, and stopped here based on the reviews. Burgers were juicy and really well made. The atomic burger was lightly spicy and the lamb burger was light and lean. The cucumber un the lamb burger was an excellent touch. The regular fries are lightly dusted with spices, and the sweet potato fries were some of the best I had in ages. The wait staff is kind of unattentive, but regardless I would definitely come back here if I was forced to visit this city again

I was really surprised when I walked in on Friday night and requested a table for six and did not have to wait at all, very impressive! Normally, I would have had to put my name on the list hanging right next to the front door and then wait to have my name called but not on this night. The waitress seated me and went to get me a water and a drink menu. By the time she came back one of the friends in my party had arrived and she got our libations orders. When my entire party arrived and the waitress had gotten all of our drinks we were ready to order some food. I chose to get the Bison Burger which comes with BBQ sauce, white cheddar, tempura onions, and a choice of a side salad or fries (I chose the fries) for $12. The waitress asked me how I wanted it cooked and told me they only cook it to medium at the most since it is such a lean meat so I ordered my burger at medium. The food arrived at our table very quickly. I was impressed they were able to fill such a large order in such a small amount of time; all of our food was hot and tasty! My burger was cooked perfectly and I'm sorry to say but it was a little dry. I don't blame the restaurant on this one, I blame the Bison. Since it is such a lean meat there isn't as much grease to give it moisture; the BBQ sauce is a good call on this burger as it gives the burger a moisture boost. I was happy with my meal and the fancy cocktails and everyone in my party was equally impressed with their meals. I will admit that $12 is a little steep for a burger but it was very tasty and I could tell that Midtown Eats doesn't cut any corners when it comes to their food. So my recommendation is try this place; I have had 5-star service and food on both of my visits here. I can honestly say that Midtown Eats is consistently delicious; most restaurants struggle to obtain a good standard but it's not a problem at Midtown Eats! If you want to check out pics of the food or some more of my reviews look up my blog Biggest Little City Eats at: jparkhurst07.wordpress.c…

Came back for a lunch and cocktails with a party of 4 on a late monday afternoon. We had a bottle of wine, the assorted cheese plate, mushroom soup and everyone had something different for lunch. Everything we had was absolutely fabulous. We stayed for probably two and a half hours chatting and drinking wine and no one made us feel rushed or bad that we sat for so long. The female server we had was awesome and took great care of us. I find the prices to be very reasonable for the portions and quality. The seating is very close together, and it is very loud. Unless im looking for an intimate date night i dont care, but if this sort of setting bothers you this probably isnt the place for you.

Nice, open feeling especially in the summer, but service is hit or miss and food is best for the burger people, not so much the veggies! The servers can either be super helpful or slow and somewhat rude. The menu has well thought out meals, but almost 100% for meat-eaters out there. Their cocktails are great, I will say that but not really the vibe for drinks.

Awesome vibe! One of the people I was hanging out with just moved from Portland and said Midtown feels like it belongs there. Lol! I'm glad to see Reno is growing up. I loved the lamps made from vintage liquor bottles and just the simplicity and coolness of the rest of the interior. Bartender was super friendly and very accommodating with our group which got bigger than I originally thought it would be. Gave great cocktail suggestions. The cocktail menu is something totally different and interesting as well. I tried a Strawberry Collins and the Chupacabra, both which were tasty and unexpected. Had the fried okra for a snack. Very tasty. A good experience and I can't wait to come back to try an actual meal!

We tried this place after reading reviews of places to have lunch in Reno. The food was decent but very overpriced as well as the cocktails at the bar (who pays $10 for a cocktail?) The sweet potato fries were the best I ever had. The rest of the fare was fair to midland; 3 burgers and a falafel with 2 soft drinks-$59. DOH!!!

  • Michael C.

This place is as good as it gets. The food is awesome, our waitress was way cool, and the drink selection is great. I had the atomic hamburger, it was very good. Out of my party of 8 people not one person thought the food was anything other than awesome! Next time I'm in Reno I'm definitely stopping by here.

This was my first visit to Midtown Eats. Went with a friend for lunch. She had veggie tacos & tri tip tacos. Both looked delicious (she confirmed they were). Nice light lunch if you ordered just one order (very light, but waitress let her know what to expect). I had the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Highlight of lunch was the fry sauce - could have licked that bowl clean. Yes - it was THAT good. Sandwich was on a soft bun with nice toast to outside. Had bacon, tomato, avocado, & blue cheese on it. Great blue cheese flavor. Overall - a delightful lunch. W2TW - go early if you want to get right in before the crowds. They were very efficient with everyone's lunch except ours due to a fluke. The kitchen printer ran out of paper when our order went in & nobody noticed. Other than that - all was very lovely. With regard to other complaints of pricing - our lunch was $22 without a tip. Feels pretty fair to me.

I like the interior. Wait staff fun. Lots of reused objects like the old hard cover book bindings doubling as your bill tray and old stainless steel sundae cups as plant pots on the tables. I'm vegan and was happy with the hummus sandwich billed as vegan. Then next day I tried the portabello "burger" (word makes me want to gag) that is not billed as vegan but probably should be. They told me even the beer for the tempura batter option is vegan. Gilled is the other option and in case you don't know, grilling is a known carcinogen, yet another reason to just say no to bbq. Did wonder about the Truckee Bagel or Bread Co bun the mushroom came on. It had a shiny surface which is usually made with an egg white finish. They are checking into that for me. If it's not eggwhite than they have another faire to bill as vegan. Yay!

This was my first time here and it was amazing! Had truffle mac n cheese and rilette for appetizer, then my fiance and I both ordered a different burger and split them to share. While the bacon blue burger was no slouch, the tempura portobello burger was incredible. Best vegetarian dish I've ever had, we both found ourselves wishing we had ordered our own portobello burger. For dessert she had the creme brulee, and I had a soda float made with dandelion burdock soda and housemade icecream. So delicious, but only available while supplies last!

This was my first time to this place. It was great. We had a seabass special and was awesome. Great décor and a very good and attentive male waiter. We also had somewhat of a clumsy female waiter that struggled. Tried to take our order when it was already taken, took my wife's plate off her before I had finished my dinner, just bizarre stuff. This didn't take away from the food and hospitality. Will definitely go back to this place. One of my new favorite places in Reno.

We had our first dinner at Midtown Eats this evening and have definitely added it to our list of "must returns." We thoroughly enjoyed our evening from the exquisitely mixed cocktails and the fried okra to start, to our final creme brûlée, lightly flavored with lavender. The cocktail menu is a delight, with a choice for almost any palette should you like a well crafted cocktail. My husband's soup (a to-die-for tomato soup) was spectacular and my green salad were terrific introductions to our main courses; his the sweet and sour pork chops which were wonderful and mine the duck confit. For those who love duck confit, you always order with trepidation as duck confit is either wonderful or horribly dry. This was in the wonderful category with a nice crisp skin, but moist and tender inside. Served with a lovely beets and a peach chutney. Great staff, vibrant atmosphere, excellent cocktails and wonderful food; an excellent addition to the Reno food scene. What's even more amazing is that they've been open for one week. Definitely recommend giving these folks a try. Can't wait for their soon to appear brunch menu.

Cute little place with a great menu! Caters to meat eaters and vegetarians without compromising the selection. All local beef and really fresh options. My husband had the bleu cheese burger and I had the portabella burger with sweet potato and regular fries, and everything was amazing. We split a chicken ceaser salad as an appetizer and were pleasantly surprised at their unique take on a classic salad. Great atmosphere if you can beat the lunch rush. Great bar selection too! A must-do in Reno! Not little kid friendly though- too small unless your kids are perfect, quiet angels.

The food is fantastic, the setting is great, and the drinks are terrific...but the service absolutely is atrocious. If they can fix this aspect, this restaurant would be one if the best in town. It takes far too long to seated, attended to, and served. Expect to be there for 90 minutes. Seriously. If Midtown Eats hires a competent wait staff, this place is an absolute must. Again, the food, drinks, and ambiance are all fabulous, but the key component - service - is SORELY lacking. Case in point: the loner we were seated, I said, "we are ready to order." Our waitress said, "great, I'll put these menus away." She didn't return for ten minutes. I've never had a waitress head the opposite direction when I said I was ready to order.

I love this restaurant! I have been here 7-8 times or so for dinner and drinks and this place makes me feel like I am on vacation in Portland. The staff is friendly and one of the owners also helps make drinks and serves. The atmosphere is very cool. It is perfect for a date night, or just having drinks with friends. They have a great menu that is affordable, but always have fancy specials that you can indulge in. Their drink list is out of this world, all hand crafted cocktails that you don't find anywhere else in Reno. But... my favorite thing here is their Atomic burger which is amazing and mouthwatering. It has a brioche type bun, charred tomato salsa, avocado and habanero pepper on it. The meat has something in it, that I can't define, but I crave this. They don't take reservations, so expect to wait if it is dinner time. (It is worth the wait though!) Also, don't come with more than 4 people or so, since there isn't a lot of seating.

Bland, boring and expensive. If I pay $10+ for a burger it better be amazing. The one I had here was boring and dry. There are a lot of other restaurants in the immediate vicinity you should go to instead of this place.

Great food and a great atmosphere! The location was formerly occupied by Süp and they've made good use of the space. The Atomic Burger is one of my favorites in town and for $10 it's hard to beat. The deliciousness that is their sweet potato fries is inexplicable...so go check it out!

The duck confit really surprised me and confirmed what I have believed since this place has opened: they are a legitimate contender for one of Reno's best in both atmosphere and a consistent, high quality, creative selection of well made dishes. Nice work.

Went for Sunday brunch. Fantastic food but couldn't talk with my family at the same table - the music was way too loud. Sunday mornings are not meant for loud music, let alone rap. The staff should eat their meals before the restaurant opens, not during peak times. The restaurant was packed and there were two servers sitting at the bar eating. I really hope they can fix these problems because this restaurant has great potential. Will be back again with earplugs in my pocket, just in case.

The service was excellent and the food was delicious. My friend ordered the atomic burger. I ordered the blue cheese burger and we shared. They were both flavorful and excellent, but I am partial to blue cheese burgers. I gave the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because the iced tea was awful. I should have stuck with water. I will definitely eat here again on my next visit to Reno.

I just saw a review from a person who had the Atomic Burger stating it was life changing. I hope your life is ok because I ordered just that today and can say that if it changed my life in anyway, it was not a good change. I ordered it expecting a flavorful, SPICY burger but got a soggy patty that tasted like it was dipped in old dish water before being served instead. Not only was the patty horrible but the service was less than mediocre. If your customer is leaving more than 3/4 of her meal still on the plate, please bother to ask why she doesn't want to take her meal home instead of just walking away with the check. I don't mind paying $12 for a burger as long as it's worth it, this Atomic Burger by far was not worth it. I've worked in the service industry before and love to try new up and coming places and with the great things I had heard about Midtown, I was really excited to try it out. That excitement has turned into dissapointment- not to mention my friend ordered a salad and they only gave her the greens, until she reminded the server that her salad included goat cheese and dressing. I can say they get 1 star for their sweet potato fries which were full of flavor.

My girlfriend and I went for Sunday brunch and we were unexpectedly blown away! I had the Bacon Eggs Benedict and it was to die for. I order eggs bene for breakfast frequently and this is the best I've had in a very long time if not ever. The eggs were poached to perfection, the bacon was cooked medium (just how I like it), the English muffin was great quality and flavorful, and the hollandaise was the best I've ever had (must like it citrusy though). Definitely going back for lunch.

. I frequent Reno every three months and have been looking forwarding to trying this place because it reminds me of places back home in the bay area. The ambiance is very cute and chic. I love the phone booth turned into a wine holder, super cute. The service was well if I was rating just on the service I would give this place a one. Servers, if you are reading this: SERVICE IS KEY. I had to get up from our table and get our own menus and ask the busser for water. Our waitress seemed tired and was having a bad day. Now to the food. Well nothing spectacular. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which was a mistake on my part. The sauce came from a can and a bad one at that. Hard avocado No flavor at all. The home fries weren't even cooked all the way. I did have a lovely breakfast cocktail and was very impressed with the selection of spirits there, but midtown eats are you a bar or restaurant? Also this is Reno, not San Francisco, the amount I paid for the cocktail i could get a great bottle of bubbly. I so wanted to love this place and make it my brunch spot when I come to Reno, but would rather go to the breakfast buffet at the Atlantis. If Midtown Eats wants to be Bay Area caliber, they really need to tighten up service and quality of food.

Holy Moly! Split the Atomic Burger and the Lamb burger with a friend, both were the best burgers I have had in a very long time. The quality of the ingredients was palpable. They were juicy, tender, perfectly cooked. Both had great accompaniments. Fries were insanely good and I loved the chipolte mayo that came with them. The owner provided gracious service with a smile and a sense of humor. I must when visiting Reno. Also very reasonably priced. I did not imbibe on this visit, but the cocktails appear on par with the food,

So incredible! From top to bottom this restaurant is truly a gem! Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. I LOVE their decor theme, its well done and carried throughout. From the menus to the lighting to the tables to the gift certificates everything matches the modern yet vintage theme. The drinks are fun and delicious and the food is AH-MAZING! Seriously, the Atomic burger is life changing. ;o) Definitely plan in checking this place out!!

I've had brunch and lunch now I and I can say two things about Midtown that I have never said about any restaurant in Reno. Best burger in Reno/any other place I've ever been. It wasn't enormous, it wasn't made of made of Australian or Japanese beef, but it was cooked to perfection and had a side of delicious sweet potato fries. It was juicy, spicy but not flavor sapping, grilled on a chewy bun, with a habanero onion mix that was complemented by a sort of chipotle aioli. The sweet potato fries were a bit floppy but didn't effect the flavor at all, and with the slightly spicy chipotle aioli as a dip, nothing to complain about anymore. Had the Red Ant handmade cocktail. It was quite good, but for an old fashioned would have been a perfect stand in. Brunch was also great. Had the Tri Tip Benedict. Have never had a hollandaise sauce quite like that. Zesty, fresh, and went perfectly with the tri tip atop a grilled yet chewy bread (wasn't brioche i think). I had the Midtown Tonic which was delicious. Gingery and sweet, but dry and cant but compliment on the unique ice they have. As if some member of the staff resides in the back cutting large cubes just for cocktails. The staff was also great on both occasions. Attentive, but not overbearing. Two great experiences in a row is something I've rarely had at a restaurant, let alone one that is still in its fledgling stages.

Went here for lunch and it was delicious! The food was fresh and flavorful. The waiter did forget to bring me my drink but when i reminded him he was very apologetic and brought me it immediately. We sat at the bar and the chairs were somewhat uncomfortable but the ambiance was quaint and nice. We had the hummus as an appetizer and it was soooo fresh and yummy. I had the the vegan sandwich which was again very fresh. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Walked in at 2pm on a Tues with a dining companion..2 other customers were already there...was seated...drink and food order placed...a draft beer...and a" specialty" cocktail. Server/bartender returned to small bar 8 feet away...and resumed a wine tasting meeting with what was apparently a wine vendor. Fast forward more than 15 minutes later...no beer...no cocktail...completely ignored. Wow...long time since I have had such poor service...in fact another solo diner had been waiting patiently for her tab and finally walked up to the server engrossed in his tasting with the wine vendor to settle. We walked out...no thanks.

I usually get the burgers at Midtown Eats because they are easily the best in Reno. Well, I went today and got the cheesesteak and it may be the greatest thing that I have ever consumed. And I ate the entire thing. Now I'm going to take a nap at work. Don't tell my boss.

I have been here probably six times since it has opened. The most AMAZING burger I have ever had and everyone I have gone with agrees. The major downfall is that it is very small. I tried to go with two other people recently around 9:30 pm and they said they woudn't be able to seat us for probably and hour and a half because they had to seat a group of six. There is no call ahead. Once you do get seated the service is good and everyone is friendly. Even with a wait, the food is worth it!

please have hours of operation and stick to it. There are days i call in and they dont have a close time. they would say it depended on the crowd. so...do i make reservations or no?... one day i came in with a friend around 8, they turned us away (while there were people inside eating) and said they were closing early because they were having a slow night. food has been good when i first started coming when they first opened. food is good. service and proper management to lead needs help.

All around awesomeness. Easily meets SF Bay Area standards for food and atmosphere. And the bar service rocks - including real "rocks" for your Scotch or whiskey. If you find yourself in Reno, this place is a stand-out option.

The BEST burger I've ever had! The other menu items I've tried have also been delicious and they have great, unique cocktails. It is small and don't take reservations, but if you go for lunch during the week or an early dinner on the weekends, the wait is minimal. Even if you do have to wait, it's worth it.

Just had lunch here recently and love everything about his new little place - from the urban farmhouse interior, to the killer pulled pork sando, to the amazing cocktails! Most excellent service, as well, from Meagan at the bar. I had the Midtown Mash cocktail to start with (WAAAYYYY beyond yummy) and I think the second one was called Capo Luca (it's not on the online menu) and that one was made with mezcal and very very interesting. I can't wait to go back with the hubby for dinner! Way to go you Portland-ites, you! Or should I say, Portlandias...

As good as it gets for Sunday brunch! Had the french toast with bourbon sauce and the omelet du jour. Both were awesome. The atmosphere was great and the service was just right. Can't wait to go back. One improvement they could make is to get an espresso machine. Because of the small dining area, I didn't see it as very child friendly.

On a recent trip to the Tahoe area, we stopped in Reno and were pleasantly surprised with the number of enticing eateries, taverns and restaurants in the Midtown area. We decided on Midtown Eats and were very impressed with the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Ginger-Apple Slaw and Chipotle BBQ Sauce. We liked it so much we talked about it the rest of the weekend and we even went back for dinner. Sadly, however, we were completely dejected to learn that the Pulled Pork Sandwich is only offered at lunch. So we tried the Red Pepper Soup which was OUTSTANDING and I enjoyed the Arugula Salad. My husband says skip the Steak Frites, but my sister-in-law raved about the Pasta Bolognese. Great beer and very cool bar lighting made out of old liquor bottles. Too bad this Reno eatery isn't a lot closer.

Cool downtown locale, easy atmosphere, friendly service, WONDERFUL mixed drinks & entrees good to the very last bite. Caroline had pulled pork - and didn't share a single bite with me - it was that good! I had a pepper-crusted steak and loved every bite that Caroline didn't sneak away from my plate :). Really can't say a bad thing about this place. Prices were reasonable too. Didn't try the deserts, though.

Amazing! Love their drink menu. Penicillin cocktail was the best so we had a few ;) Had the artichoke appetizer followed by the Blue Burger with sweet potato fries and all I could think was why didn't we visit sooner??!! We will be back! ;)

I give this place a 4.5! We sat at the bar when we went and the bar tender was so friendly and great! They have great drinks and she will try to make you anything you request. I had the grilled cheese with the roasted red pepper and tomato soup, it was by far the best combination of flavors I have ever had! My boyfriend got the tri-tip sandwich...it was good but the meat had a gamey meaty flavor to it. The cook came out and made sure we were all happy and was super nice! This place is great, wish it was a little bigger!

I love Midtown eats. The Arugula salad is amazing and so is the mushroom soup, the burgers, and the sweet potato fries. Oh and I forgot the drinks are great too, although expensive. The Drunk Monk cocktail is amazing and strong! I would love to see more places like this in Reno!

What they do well-burgers, salads. What they don't do well- pour consistent drinks, test their entrees. Service has been decent both times we went. The porkbelly special was almost inedible and cooked far from correctly, not to mention the terrible meat cut. The pasta I had was boring and overcooked. Burger was wonderful, also the salad the first time I went (which is why I returned). The drink pour discrepancies were unconscionable though. Will probably try this place one more time to give them another shot. Cute atmosphere.

A charming cafe with unique decor, friendly and hardworking waitstaff. Blue cheese hamburger with sweet potato fries really tasty. Chicken sandwich on a delicious bread satisfied a late lunch appetite. Easy parking and fair prices.

Go here for the burgers. I've tried a few other things, but the burgers are the draw. Also the okra is awesome. i know okra is usually a southern food favorite but the tempura batter on it is delicious. Drinks are pricey.

The Teriyaki burger is my new favorite burger in Reno! The snapper tacos are killer, too. And don't forget the best sweet potato fries I've had in years. The atmosphere is great and the staff is super friendly. We were very pleased with our meal and we will be back often.

Great place. I loved the bison burger and my whole party enjoyed their meals. Fun place with a lot of character. The lamps are old liquor bottles with old fashioned light bulbs. My pbr was served in a paper bag stamped with restaurant logo. Fun time

Went there for dinner with some friends. Had to wait about 30 minutes to get seated because the seating is limited. They were really nice about it, and kept us updated on the seating. Once we got in I had the arugala salad to start, that had red and golden beats, golden raisins, crumbled goat cheese, red onions, pine nuts, all on top of fresh arugula. For the main course I chose braised pork belly with red cabbage and potato au gratin. I mean who could resist pork belly? It was delicious. Crispy pork fat, and tender pork meat balanced perfectly with the red cabbage that had been cooked in apple cider vinegar. I was really impressed. They were short on staff, but still were really friendly and helpful. This will definitely be on the list of places to take my friends and family for a wonderful meal.

The food was very good and the menu very eclectic, but unfortunately the service is nothing to praise about. We arrived at the cafe early, around 6pm. We were directed to a table next to the bar and asked to be moved to a table on the other side of the room where it as well was not very populated. The server sat us in seats other than the ones in which we requested. He gave us the reason as to why we could not sit at the table we wanted. His reasoning was understandable(sitting a 2 top in the middle of other tables makes it difficult to sit parties larger than 2 later in the evening), but nonetheless, because we requested specific seats that were not reserved, he should have allowed us there no issue; in the end we sat at the table we wanted. We ordered and ate. Never once did the server stop by our table to ask how the food was, nor did we ever see him at our table after the food was presented. After waiting for some time, with our plates still on our table, I went to the bar and request our bill. Someone other than our server brought the bill to our table. Again, the food is great, service not so much.

The atomic burger should be named hell's burger, so dam hot. Initially it was very tasty, but half ways I lost the taste due to the spiciness. Sweet potato fries were good. My only complain is the water, it tasted like it was poured straight from the sink ha.

I loved this place! My girlfriend and I had lunch there today and were impressed. Her standard burger was phenomenal. The bun was sweet, not greasy. I had the tomato bisque, which was a delicious blend of bold flavor and spice. Can't wait to go back!

Loved this place. Came with a friend. Here's what stood out: 1. Creative menu 2. Funky ambience - including mason jars for water, succulents as table arrangements, and the awesome liquor-bottle light fixture over the bar. I had a steak salad and skipped the beets included and they were happy to accommodate my menu adjusting request. Service was what could be expected in a packed out tiny restaurant, so though it took awhile I have no complaints. It would be nice if they offered a few healthier choices and got creative with those items as well.

Much of the stuff that made granite street so good but on a more comfy level. Best burger in reno, awesome if some what complicated cocktails, and the okra is awesome. Fried food (okra) that is light and delicious. The burger was really nicely seasoned, cooked perfectly, great bun. Sweet potato fries were crisp and delicious, with a nice dipping sauce. I recommend getting the spiced roast nuts to begin with. Nice, big portion of pan roasted nuts. Delicious, not hot, good flavor. For a place that hasn't been open long, they really seem to have it dialed already, and I'm guessing that it's going to get better as it goes along. Do they server brunch?

Driving back from Black Rock City to Reno took about four hours, and we arrived around 1AM on Labor Day. It took another couple of hours to find a hotel room, as vacancy was scarce. Dinner consisting of leftover Nature Valley granola bars; showers were the only comfort we were graced with that night. In general, we had actually eaten well in the desert, but on a desert appetite; some may understand, others maybe not. The first meal we were blessed with, after the grueling yet unforgettable week away from home (at home?) came from Midtown Eats, and I only wish this place was closer to my home in CT. We shared most of the items we ordered, adapting once again to pre-apocalyptic civilization: tapas-size red snapper tacos, truffled macaroni and cheese, merguez-seasoned lamb burger topped with olive tapenade and eggplant, tempura portobello burger with fresh mozzarella, basil and tomato, and two glasses of Delirium Tremens. All items were fresh, flavorful and perfectly cooked, remaining juicy. Yes, we were hungry to begin with, but I can't say I've had a better meal in a while. Clientele consisted of the hipster and burner scene residing in or passing through Reno at the moment, ensuring us that Midtown Eats was the hip place to hang. Midtown Eats, I hope to see you again in September 2013.

updated for a side note and feedback on their desserts. While the food has all been spectacular, I did feel that their desserts were lacking in execution. I had the lavender creme brulee and I gotta say it was awful. The flavor of the custard was good, great even. But the brulee was terrible. I'm surprised the kitchen allowed it to be served. There should be a thin layer of carmelized sugar on top, allowing the distinct pleasure for the diner to crack it with their spoon with each bite. There must have been half a cup of granulated sugar poured on top the custard and evenly melted/burnt. The dark burnt part was thick in parts and gooey in others. The worst part was the thick layer of granular uncarmelized sugar underneath that made the custard gritty. We didn't send it back because my partner will eat anything sweet and he enjoyed the tablespoon or two of custard he salvaged after peeling off the tarry brulee and scraping away the 1/3 inch of granulated sugar. I concur that it's irritating that the expensive prices of the drinks aren't listed, but I've never been shy to ask (does that make me tacky?). The cocktails are expensive, but quite good. an occasional indulgence really.

thank you yelp. atomic burger was the best burger I've ever had. Really nice decor. The people working there seemed a little cocky, but I guess rightfully so. Also the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. my partner got the tempura portabella sandwhich and it was ok. She got sick later and we're not sure if it was because of that or not. The cocktails are expensive but delicious. I wish I got more alchohol for my money, but it's ok because I stole a drink menu so I can remake them at home :) I will come back next time I'm in Reno.

crispy duck skin.. bone marrow slathered on toasted sourdough topped with a touch of gremolata.. solid drink list.. just a few points to list. midtown is probably one of my favorite places for food + drink right now.. as in, the best place for good food and quality drinks. there might be better bars out there, and there might be better food out there, but for food and drink together, its tough to get better than midtown.

Midtown has some of the best burgers in Reno! I had the blue cheese burger. Quality food in a fun and progressive environment. Wait staff was extremely nice and knowledgable about the menu. It's not super expensive, but you do pay for quality food. I'll be back soon!

This is a great new little restaurant! Exactly what Reno needs. An amazing bar with beautiful handmade drinks that are delicious and unique. Plus a very innovative menu with excellent flavor combinations that are enticing for all palates. I have had the chance to make it in for brunch, the food was great, the staff was knowledgeable, classy, and very friendly. The modern meets rustic ambiance is very simplistic and comfortable. I am very excited to come back and try lunch and dinner! The menus look incredible! Great job!

I went on opening day and tried the tri tip sandwich. Flavor was great. probably not the best choice for having a new temporary tooth in. Haahaaa If the tri tip was cut up a bit more it would have been perfect. Been there a few more times since and had the blue, and the grilled cheese. Both were great. What a great place. Also had their new york steak special which was amazing. I consider my self a foody (even though I'm not on here every waking moment like some of you dorks) and have eaten some great food in my life and I've never had flavors like the special that day. Phenomenal food. They are a new place and I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes with their growing pains but so far for me has been wonderful.

Been to Midtown Eats a total of three times now, I would have given them 5 stars but 3 stars were lost due to the service we have received the last two times.. We dine out a lot, very friendly, not demanding at all and big tippers when we receive good service.. simple.. On fathers day my girlfriend and I treated my dad to lunch here, upon arriving and being seated my girlfriend had a bottle of water and instead of kindly asking her to leave it in the car or throw it away the waitress walked up and tapped her on the shoulder while loudly/ abruptly telling her "you cant have that in here" with an attitude, quite embarrassing in a small packed restaurant when everyone is looking at you. After this happened we waited close to 15 minutes (10 minutes the time before that with a shallow greeting) before even being greeted and orders taken, except for the friendly bus boy who seemed to be the only one doing his job on both occasions (you should all be taking pointers from him), pretty amazing for a restaurant to struggle so bad with so few tables to wait on.. The food was good especially the sweet potato fries. Would I try again? Most likely not.. Until the service is fixed, and the attitude among the staff is fixed it wont be anytime soon..

My Husband and I wanted to have a date, and we had been here once before, and my husband liked the burgers so we went. And, we were excited, we hadn't had a date in a while. We walk in, and we are happy because the place is pretty empty so we assume we will be able to be seated quick. The host asks us how many, we say two and he says okay, let me clear off a table for you. This was odd, because well, most of the tables in the place were open and set. But. Fine thats cool. We'll wait. But then the bartender girl tell the host he can't seat us at a table meant for four. So he tells us we can sit at the bar. So I ask, the obvious question, how long for a table... (its date night...a bar is really not our idea of a romantic evening) he says: 15 minutes. We leave. We went to Old Granite Street Eatery and it was delicious. As we sat there we reflected on the our previous experience at Midtown Eats, and we realized... the food was good enough, but that last time we were there the service was horrible too! So needless to say... if it comes down to a choice between Old Granite Street Eatery, Campo or Midtown Eats... we will certainly take our business and tips to the former two listed.

Decided to treat myself to a little lunch today and ended up at Midtown Eats. I dug the decor, simple, rustic and creative. I consider myself a burger junky so I ordered the blue burger with a cup of the mushroom soup and paired them with the Malbec. Took a bit to arrive but I didn't mind the wait. Once they did show up I was impressed with the height of the thing. Soup looked as good as mushroom soup can look. Beige with little brown bits and some strange chunky substance floating around. I tasted the soup first, it was creamy, perfectly temped and had decent flavor, I thought the acidic, caramelized onion was a twist too. I took a taste of the floating thing and I believe it was a tempura battered mushroom, it had a very strange texture and was almost slimy. I chewed and swallowed quickly. Overall I liked the soup just not the toppings. Then, I tasted the burger, loved the flavor of the blue cheese, the texture of the burger, the brioche bun and the tomato pesto, my burger was a little on the medium rare side (which I don't mind) but I was told it would be medium. The only critique I had about the burger was the chewy, undercooked bacon. Taking a bite of a burger and having bacon fat slap you in the face isn't pleasant. Overall, I like the place and will definitely try them again. And BTW, Malbec tastes great with mushroom soup.

we ate here off a suggestion from a girl who worked down the street. thinking it would be good, we stopped in for beers and some dinner. one buddy had fries and my boyfriend had a burger, we all had a beer. i ordered the osso bucco and it left so much to be desired. cold when it came out, celery root was WAY undercooked, and the whole meal lacked salt and seasoning. the broth was good from what i could smell but no spoon? for the price this place thinks they are providing a service and quality that the customer is just not receiving. when i go out to what seems like a nice restaurant i want to feel like the food is worth it but this time it was not. if you like to get what you pay for than this place is not for you.

We have eaten here several times with similar results and a low tonight. The service is typically very slow, especially for initial drink orders and food. Tonight they apologized for the slowness, blaming the large parties. We were only 3, but we ordered appetizers, at least 2 drinks per person, and entrees. The food was variable with an overcooked burger (asked for medium and got very well) but really good scallops. We declined on dessert, relatively quickly got the check and within 5 minutes of paying were asked to leave to free up the table. Apparently food and drinks can take forever, but how dare we talk for a few minutes after finishing. Food is generally good but service seriously needs to improve to get us back, especially for the price of the food. There are many better places, even in Reno.

After hearing so much about the place my wife and I were excited to give it a try. Mistakenly I made the egregious error of telephoning to inquire if a reservation could be had. Upon hearing my question the male voice on the other end of the line proceeded to tell me, in the most condescending manner, that Midtown Eats does not accept reservations. When asked if I could be seated at 7:30 if we came in (understanding that I was calling at 6:50) I was told I was free to come down and wait in a tone that basically said to me; my god you have terrible inconvenienced me by makings me spend 45 seconds on the phone answer your queries. So unfortunately I cannot review the food, all I can do is comment on my first impression; which basically left me not desiring to spend my money in an establishment who's front line could have just as easily been welcoming to a customer rather then appearing annoyed.

This small, inviting space turned out to be a delightful dinner spot. No problem getting a table at 5:30, very early for the Friday night Reno dinner crowds. I loved the clean, open interior -- especially the liquor bottle lights over the bar. The service was fast and friendly. I had a cup of the wild mushroom soup and the lamb burger with side salad. Superb! My husband was very happy with his butternut squash soup and blue burger, but was disappointed with the French fries. The wine selection was limited, but I was quite content with my glass of Hahn pinot noir. My husband found a beer he really loves. Prices were in line with what we expected. It was a terrific choice for dining, and we'll go back soon to try the evening entrees.

I heard about Midtown Eats from a friend and decided to give it a try last night. I thought Granite St. had the best burger in town but that reality has changed...the Atomic Burger is far superior. Cool decor, people and food. I recommend this place for anyone in search of a good meal with excellent food quality.
