The lounge area is pretty relaxing and not too busy and has the same menu available if the restaurant is booked. For a higher end steakhouse, I was a little disappointed. The portions were well sized, but the steaks lacked flavor. They were under cooked and not well seasoned for the price they were charging. The service however was pretty good, and the waitress was knowledgeable on the menu. One thing worth giving a try are the lobster corndogs, an odd name but they were pretty good with the special mustard sauce they serve them with.

I don't thoroughly remember my time here but I can definitely say the steak I had (I have no idea which steak) was like God came in my mouth. Very good salad as well, the waiter we had was humorous and charismatic (I think he was, I might be thinking of another place), what I liked about it here was the assortment of bread they had as appetizers they were all delishh. I want to give a shout out to the lady that seated us; seated us very quickly and was polite despite getting screamed at by this husky bitch in front of us. Very professional, I would have for sure poked her in the eye or slapped her back into her mamas butt.

The service here is probably the best I've received at any restaurant ever. The meat was perfect, the sides were just enough and the drinks were top notch. They even have Tito's vodka (local to Austin, TX). I don't give 5 stars easily, but here it was easily deserved many times over. Tip: save room for dessert.

Since we cashed in our free 2-night stay at Grand Sierra Resort, we were presented with a $30 dining credit and decided to use it at Charlie Palmer Steak. It was the night before the July 1 ban on foie gras in California and even though we were technically in Nevada, there was no way we weren't going to have our foie that night. While the filet mignon and lobster tail was a little overcooked and therefore less tender than what I was expecting, the foie gras was perfect! A seared 2-3oz. piece added the richness I need to coat my filet with. There was none of that partially bloody, raw liver taste. Sadly, the bone marrow was way undercooked and lacked any flavor at all. Even though we skimped on dessert, we were given a tray of mini desserts containing chocolate cookies, candied walnuts, and pineapple upside-down cake. I swear, the walnuts were like crack and my server, Julian (another cute little asian man!) knew it too because he came back with a 2nd tray of walnuts despite my protest. Before presenting us the bill, he gave me a little breakfast cake. He said, "This is normally for the ladies only but here's one for you too!" and plopped one down on the table for my BF. Our easily $200+ dinner turned out to be less than $150 as Julian hooked us up with the "Manager's Special" discount, which was greater than the $30 credit we had. I could not have been more appreciative of his service that night and it was only right that we tipped him like a boss! Overall, I would definitely still come back during another stay at the Grand Sierra Resort. The food is really 3.5 stars but I received much too wonderful of a service here to downgrade.

The decor is very posh modern, LA club scene. Walking into each section is like walking into your own private room but it's not of course, unless requested. The food is excellent, a great variety of side dishes. There's so many different things to choose from. The fries as silly as it seems are the best I have ever had in America. The desert's are delicious both the ones on the menu and complimentary. Many of the servers are wonderful, a few get irritated if you get up and down many times during your dinner...

First thing to know: if you're short (like me) do not let them seat you in a booth-seat (hard to avoid since most tables seemed to be 50% booth/50% chairs). I sank so low I felt like a little kid trying to eat at the grown-ups' table. Fortunately, my husband swapped seats with me although it was unpleasantly low even for him. Staff was very friendly. I wouldn't say it's the best service I've had in Reno (that would be at Red Robin of all places!) but certainly not the worst either. Slightly below would I would expect at a restaurant where the tab (without drinks) is going to come to @$100 before tip. They have a good quality balsamic vinegar and olive oil on the table for dipping your bread. I don't understand--or like--the current fad of giving you a flavored or dressed-up bread like this place & almost every other Italian place in Reno does but this one is at least decent. Our favorite part of going out for Italian is a calamari appetizer. Unfortunately, the waiter forgot to put in our order for it. I think we messed up his groove by ordering our appetizer and main dishes at the same time. The salads that came with the meals were quite good...but then I'm a sucker for pine nuts! In the entrees, my linguini with clams & scallops (scallops were extra $) was quite good. The steamer clams were obviously very fresh and were scallops. By miracle, the scallops were PERFECTLY cooked, not done to rubber like so many places. I'm from the coast and am very picky about my shellfish...I ate every bit of clam in this! My only complaint was the otherwise good pasta was still a touch under al dente. The veal marsala with risotto wasn't bad. The veal wasn't quite as good as La Strada's...couldn't quite cut it with the fork. The marsala sauce was closer to a gravy than a classical marsala but very tasty as long as you set your preconceptions of what a marsala sauce is aside. The only true failure of the night was the tiramisu which was probably one of the worst I've ever had. It was nearly entirely overly-sweet mascarpone with only a couple tiny bites of lady fingers which had hardly any espresso soaking. Probably the first time in our marriage my husband & I have split a tiramisu and then left half of it on the plate. I will say my husband's latte was quite good...I stole most of it! Oh, drinks were about what you'd expect for a casino restaurant. $4 for iced tea/soft drinks, $5/$6 for beer, $10 for mixed drinks. All in all, I doubt we'll be back. When we want Italian, we'll be hitting La Strada and when we want to stay at GSR, we'll go to Rim for the crispy duck.

The food was great, but the service was horrible. We had reservations and arrived on time and were seated promptly. We waited for about 30 min before we even got our menus. We finally got our menu and then there was a confusion on who are actual waiter/waitress was. Anyways, we ordered the seafood appetizer, which was all really good and tasty. We ordered steaks, which were also really good. For sides we got the twice backed potato, which was average. Overall, the food was good, but for the price I would expect better service. We left with mixed feelings.

BAM! Charlie Palmer nailed it! Went for our anniversary and they treated us like royalty. We asked for a change on the chefs special appetizer and they were happy to help us. The appetizer arrived and was delicious. We both ordered the rib eye and they were perfectly cooked. The flavor from the red wine reduction sauce was amazing. Which the manager told us was reduced and flavored for days. You could taste the love. Our side of goat cheese mac and cheese was rich and delicious. I loved the lobster bisque and my wife loved her salad. As it was our anniversary they comped our desserts and sent us home with tea cakes for our children. Exactly what a high class restaurant is supposed to do. The staff was amazing. Helpful, friendly and well informed. Top notch service. I entered wondering how I could be considering paying $38 for a steak. When I left I had no doubt that it was worth every cent and that I would surely return again. There are only a couple small things I would be able to speak negative about. First: the only seafood free appetizer was the fois gras. Second: this is a casino restaurant and therefore subject the occasional drunk idiot at the table across from you. The staff works hard to be what you want them to be at a high class restaurant and it shows. Thank you Charlie Palmer Steak. Highly recommend!

After a long drive from SF, we decided to stay in the hotel and eat. We passed by Briscola, and thought it'd be cool to try Charlie Palmer's take on Italian. Overall, the food was good (what we expected) to so-so, but the service was very nice. In looking at the other reviews, as we were waiting to order, the themes seemed to be, don't order Briscola chicken, the wait can be long at peak times, and seafood and specials can be good (like parpadelle). Most of the things I would normally order on my own seemed to be dissed by yelpers. So, we ordered Caesar (standard, fresh, fine), CP french fries from next door's Charlie Palmer steak house, and Penne (which had been mentioned favorably on reviews. The server sort of said "the penne--well, it has a lot of meat." I sort of gently probed to see if she was steering me away. She suggested the mushroom pasta or the diavolo. But I went Penne instead. (It turned out too salty, with a ton of meat--exactly as she said.) Overall, I can't say I'd go again, but I appreciated the good service. Bread was also fine--good balsamic. And wine (Michael Mazzolo) was very nice and softly elegant.

Really Charlie Palmer, this is the best Italian you can offer? After eating at his steakhouse next door we were expecting really good food. No way! The ravioli were literally raw, the broccolini came out cold and limp, and the food was all either flavorless or worse. Plus the prosecco was awful, and the service was amateurish at best. Yikes!

Every time we go to Reno we have to eat here! Amazing food made by an amazing chef DH, our server Robert is the best, and the manager Chris is great! The atmosphere is perfect. We always have a great experience dining here. My husband proposed here, so this place holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for always making us happy and feeding us an amazing meal! Can't wait to return!

I'd give 3.5 stars if I could! Carlie Palmer Steam is a "fancy" restaurant in a casino, and I appreciate the fact it offers both expensive and inexpensive dishes. We ordered a few things: - Shishito peppers - Fire-roasted lobster bisque - Seared ahi tuna with crispy sushi rice cakes and yuzu citrus foam I totally didn't expect to see shishito peppers at a casino restaurant in Reno. It was only $6, and there was a mountain of lightly deep-fried peppers. Some were mild, and some were hot as they should. I didn't really care for the dipping sauce on the side, but the peppers were tasty. It is hard to mess up bisque as anything with lots of butter and/or cream tends to taste awesome. The lobster bisque garnished with some lobster meat and chili oil was rich, creamy, and perfect for sopping up with some delicious bread (MUST REQUEST FOR A BREAD BASKET!!). As for the seared ahi tuna, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the entire dish. The tuna was seared perfectly accompanied with 2 types of dipping sauce (I liked the shiso leaf one better.) I love anything yuzu, so the yuzu foam not only looked fancy but also tasted delicious. The rice cakes were indeed crispy on the outside and creamy (like risotto) on the inside. The service was professional but sporadic (even though it was not that busy when we dined). We did have to ask for a bread basket when all other tables were getting one without asking. Humph!

If it wasn't for the service I would have awarded them one star. We tried the Briscola chicken, Halibut special, polenta fries, and brussel sprouts. Chicken was extremely dry and over salted, Halibut was overcooked and under seasoned, polenta fries were okay but the lemon aoili needed some additional zing, and the sprouts were oily. With the cost of each item I feel it is over priced for the quality of food served. We ate here due to being convenient before going to a concert. We will not be returning.

Looking through the reviews, it seems there are some common themes with CP Reno... Good food, expensive prices, and some service issues. We found all of these to be true this past Friday night. Food: Steak and venison both perfectly prepared and delicious, sides and salads excellent Wine: We asked for a bottle of the Whitehall Lane merlot... the "wine steward" comes over and says they are out. Our 2nd choice cost a bit more, so we asked if we can split the difference in price, since they didn't have the one we ordered. He says "Oh no, we can't do that, it would cut into our cost!" LOL... We couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth either :-O (especially since the wines here are GROSSLY overpriced compared to similar upscale steak restaurants) After asking for the sommelier/manager, he comes over and says the first guy had no idea what he was talking about, was sorry about the cost comment, and now they suddenly DO have the wine we ordered. We received it quickly after that. Service: Reservation taken and executed with no problems, then after being seated, confusion as to who our server was supposed to be. She ended up being very good, and helped to salvage the bad experience with the wine steward All in all, a great place to eat, but be advised that service could be spotty, and it's pricey for Reno.

They have one vegan entree. I've come to expect disaster when ordering from steak houses and they did not disappoint. The blend of acid and sweet dressing on the veggies missed the mark big time. My entree arrived 10 minutes after everyone else's. They took it off the bill and I went home for dinner. I just have to learn to say "no" more often when friends want to take me out to dinner. If your party includes people who don't eat meat, look elsewhere. The vegan entree does not include any sides. Nada. After everyone else was served their salad and waited a few minutes uncomfortably for my food to come, someone asked "Aren't you going to eat anything? Didn't you order?". "I guess not." I replied, "Go ahead and eat.". Us vegans just love standing out in a crowd and being the center of attention (not!). Charlie is charging me the same as a steak for $2.50 worth of veggies and can't spring for a salad like every other entree on the menu? Come on. Step up to the table and serve us a salad like everyone else - we vegans love salads. Trust me on this one. You can even leave off the bacon bits and grated cheese and make my day. Also a note to oblivious carnivores everywhere: anyone calling themselves a "vegan" should be warned that this establishment is a Steakhouse, not just a restaurant. It's sometimes difficult to get the idea across that the experience of watching people eating dead animals invokes emotions ranging from disgust to nausea, or worse. It's the gastronomic equivalent of second-hand smoke. Of course getting my food on time would have allowed me to focus on my own dish instead of everyone else's.

I was staying at the grand Sierra for a few days and was really looking forward to having a nice, quality steak. I went in on a Monday night and took a seat at the bar. I was immediately greeted by a stunning blonde bartender. She suggested a few cocktail options and I took her up on one of their signature drinks. It was perfectly balanced and ended up ordering another with my meal. The menu selection was great and ordered a steak of course. Good was delicious and perfectly cooked. The bartender was very attentive, professional and thanks to her, I will be back.

Okay- I was on the fence between a 2 and 3 star rating for Charlie Palmer's. If I would have had a non-steak entree that was so-so this would have been a 3 star review, but the fact that I had a steak (not once but twice) and both times it was sub-par and this is a steak house, I decided to give it 2 stars. The steak (without sauce and medium rare- the way steak is supposed to be haha) was incredibly salty. So much so I couldn't enjoy it. Don't get me wrong people, I love salt but a $35+ salt block isn't my idea of a good dinner out. The first time I went here, I wanted so badly to like it and hoped that my salty steak was just an off-night so I decided to try once more... either I have the worst luck with this restaurant going on off-nights twice in a row or they just season the flavor (yes- I discovered that was possible) right out of their filets. However- their desserts are FANTASTIC. You dont even have to order a dessert to get a nice little sweet tray to wrap up the evening. It was so good I had to request another one and they gave it to me without charge! I might go back one day and try a fish dish but if I want a superb steak, I'll stick with a sure thing like the Bimini or Atlantis.

Briscola is located on restaurant row in the Grand Sierra casino. Even though it is not inside the casino proper, there is still high traffic passing through the area where the hostess stand is located...especially on a Saturday night. We had a reservation for 7 pm and arrived 10 minutes early. No one was at the hostess stand and there were 3 other small groups waiting. Finally after about 7-8 minutes someone showed up at the stand. When it was our turn at the hostess stand, in the middle of letting the hostess know our name and reservation time - a server interrupts her, she turns away to deal with that issue and just walks away, leaving me standing there in mid-sentence. No "excuse me", no nothing. About 2-3 minutes later someone else arrives at the stand and asks have we been helped. I explain that we were in the middle of being helped but she abruptly walked away. This individual apologized and then confirmed our reservation. She summoned the previous individual over and told her to seat us immediately. The restaurant is quite large compared to what you can see from the entrance. Of course the seating area closest to the entrance will have a lot of noise with all the traffic passing by. There is a middle area and then a back seating area that is very quite. They are all equally nice. We were seated in the back area which I appreciated - so my husband and I could enjoy our conversation and dinner. Our server was attentive, but not intrusive. The food was outstanding! I ordered the gnocchi with marinara, unfortunately they sent it out with the Bolognese. I also like Bolognese, but wanted to try the marinara - but I was very hungry and accepted the Bolognese. The gnocchi was freshly made, perfectly cooked - I just cannot say enough good things about it - you must try it!! The only improvement I could make is if they would serve it with brown butter, sage, and a little freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. My husband ordered the saltimbocca (veal). I have eaten saltimbocca cooked several different ways - but this is the first time I have ever seen it cooked with the prosciutto on top of the veal with a layer of cheese in between - delicious! I kept stealing small bites off of my husband's plate - he didn't mind, because they serve two portions! The handmade pasta was perfectly cooked but I could not figure out what it was dressed with - it did not taste like tomato sauce - it almost had an Asian flair to it - it conflicted with the veal in my opinion. The quality of food for the price is incredible! I cannot wait to go back!

An overrated restaurant, and probably being generous giving it 2 stars. Visited two times, first for happy hour with reasonably priced small plates and drinks, but very poor food quality and short pours on the drinks. On the second visit, ordered off the normal dinner menu. The venison was very good, but probably not worth the very very very high price. Thought Charlie Palmer was known for great steak? Asked the waiter if any of the cuts were Prime, and his answer was no. Would never go back.

My fiancé and I have been here once & just tried to go again. The first time we went, we had horrible service. Our servers switched at some point during our meal without telling us. They were incredibly slow: our food showed up BEFORE our drinks (which we ordered shortly after we were seated). The appetizer my fiancé ordered to come out with my salad never came until we reminded them that he asked for it. By the time the appetizer arrived, we were halfway through the main course and did not want it anymore. One of the servers spent almost our entire meal talking to the people at a nearby table - extremely unprofessional. The food itself was excellent, but the horrible service wasn't worth the expensive prices. It's been about a year since that terrible experience. Some friends of ours went to Charlie Palmer's and had great service, so we thought we'd try it again. We got to the restaurant at 9:30 and waited and waited and waited for someone to come seat us. Finally one of the servers came & promptly told us that they just stopped seating in the dining room and that they had already sent the hostess home. We asked her what time they stopped seating, and she told us 9:30. Basically, if they hadn't sent the hostess home early, we could've been seated. Based on the horrible service we've experienced at Charlie Palmer's, we will not be going back. Ever. We're done with them. No food is worth that kind of abysmal service.

I cannot imagine how someone would leave less than a 5-star review here. It was a great experience, and one of the best meals I've ever had. Each of the staff members was very accommodating and knew everything about the menu in order to answer our questions about certain dishes. We had cocktails, wine, oysters, salad, and steaks over 2 hours. I had the Spinach Salad and the Top Sirloin - Blue Cheese Crusted, with a side of creamed spinach. Couldn't have been better.

Decent food but way over price. I came here in November. The butter is the best butter I ever had and the bread is tasty. I came here with 3 other people Dave, Christine, Bob and the kid. We started out our meal with french fries. They were good it was served with mayo and house made ketchup. I had the tuna and pears. It was only OK. Christine had a fish with some kinda sauce. Dave and Bob had a steak which was good. At the end they had brought out cookies.

We really love coming to Charlie Palmer but I must say, the experience has deteriorated. My friend ordered a Porterhouse, rare, 1st try: medium, 2nd try: raw beef with with a 20 second quick sear, 3rd try: raw in the middle and pretty much P90X for your mouth. It was really unfortunate because everything was good: ribeye, lobster, amazing sides. Which brings to me to the average of 3 stars. This is my 3rd time here, I always get excited coming here when I go to Reno, but hesitant to return now. My advise is stay away from the porterhouse, go for the ribeye.

I love a great steak restaurant and this place didn't disappoint. Although here for a large group dinner for work with a limited menu the experience was great. We were placed in a private room separated by partitions from the rest of the dining area. The service was average and one of the reasons I would not give this place 5 stars as they were pushy and trying to get through our group of almost 40 as fast as possible. If you are staying at GSR and like steak I would certainly recommend this for your dinner options but I would certainly say a reservation is critical as this place was crowded on a Tuesday night. Positives: 1) Steak was incredible; I ordered the NY Strip and it was prepared to perfection and was flavorful and juicy! 2) Wine selection was very extensive and offered a variety of reds including Cabernets, Syrahs, Zinfandels, & Pinot along with a nice selection of blends, 3) Private dining room for our group was incredible! Negatives 1) Service for our group was pushy and they seemed in a hurry to get our group of 40 out of the way so they could get back to more traditional dining groups. 2) Side dishes were incredibly small and disappointing. The creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin were way below par for a high end steakhouse. 3) Wine prices were a little on the expensive side; I get that you need to mark up wines to make a profit but marking them up 100% or more is absurd and insulting. I don't know if they offer a corkage fee for wine you bring yourself but if they do I would recommend picking up your own favorite wines that are in the $30-$50 range and paying the fee if less than $35/bottle. 4) Bathrooms are not located inside the restaurant and in fact you have to walk all the way into the casino to get to a bathroom. This may seem picky but I just don't understand making your patrons walk that far to a bathroom.

Last Saturday night my wife and I had a great meal at Briscola and this was our second great meal here. We started by sitting at the bar for a few minutes, chatted with the bartender, and let him choose a bottle for us. We were trying to be a bit conservative in our spending and so we didn't want to break the bank on the wine. He let us taste the wine he thought we would like based on our interest in Zinfandel, and we went with it. It ended up being a nice bottle of Primotivo. We then were seated and we decided to split each course of the meal. Our first course was a beet salad. It was great. Our second choice was an Ahi tuna salad, and we enjoyed that as well. Our third choice was not on the menu. We asked our waitress to ask the chef if he could make us a 'chicken picatta', and he or she did. We enjoyed it as well. To round out the meal we finished with a small cheese plate, which was also very good. So, to conclude, we've eaten here twice and enjoyed both of our meals. This dinner was especially wonderful as we split every course and were able to save some money and leave without a gut-busting wobble on the way out.

We used to enjoy Dolce, the restaurant that used to occupy this space. The decor has changed a bit, but it seems too much a palimpsest of Dolce and Briscola. I did not connect with the decor, especially the Italian film posters on the wall. Instead of a redesign of Dolce, this seems to be a slight covering up of the old. As far as the service. It is OK. While the wait staff was friendly, when we asked about a chewy item in our bean soup, the one sever responded with only a partial list of ingredients: beans, chicken broth and that's it. She left off quite a few ingredients which are visible in the soup, including the squash. I was surprised that at a Palmer establishment that a server could not list off the ingredients. The food was not convincing. While we did not try the pasta, which is homemade, we sampled the antipasti. It was run of the mill. The mushrooms were nothing to write home about and the olives did not seem to be anything other than what one could get in the store. The meats were drizzled with too much oil. The bread was not very good. Nothing crusty or delectable about it. The cheese plate was quite good--a very good gorg and a good goat. The jam on the side with figs was very good. The soup, as mentioned earlier, had too much oil in it for our taste, but it did have a nice flavor to it. We also sampled a side of baked mini eggplants. Not very good. The eggplant was bitter and the filling, consisting of pine nuts and tomatoes, really lacked character. We would not go back. While the prices didn't seem high, it just appears as if Briscola does not have a clear identity. I have to say that for the GSR to open a third Charlie Palmer restaurant is somewhat limiting. One of the best things about a casino is the choice of restaurants. So now if you go to GSR you can choose between Palmer and the buffet or Cafe Sierra. I think we were dealt a funny hand in this game of cards.

I just got finished eating dinner with my family and I have to say I'm not very happy. I ordered a New York strip steak well done and received a steak medium rare. My wife asked for medium well and got medium rare. I sent my steak back and it was returned to me medium, still pink but burnt on the outside. I asked for the manager who promptly took my plate away from the table.I informed the waitress that I did not want anything else from the kitchen, that I did not trust their skills . I would say that the manager and waitress handled the situation professionally however I am unhappy because I went to a steakhouse expecting steak and left after only eating french fries.

Monday Night @ 7:30PM and the Grand Sierra has 300 of Choice Hotels International licensees and an additional 50 of Choice's professional hotel staff members there for a Regional convention. There were 5 in my party and another 13 in our other group. Plenty of others were in Briscola as well as Fin Fish and C.Palmer's Steak. I gave my name to the Hostess who said we could be seated in 10 minutes after they reset the table. Fine- we went to the lounge area where we sat for 25 minutes total, even after going up to the Hostess twice more to check on seating progress. The young hostesses were overheard commenting about how they didn't know there was a group of so many in the hotel(2 more in addition to ours) While in the lounge area, not once did a cocktail person come and ask if we wanted libations! We were seated at last and our waiter brought menus and wine list as well as explain about Briscola. We were watered and breaded and cocktails ordered although I was surprized that they only had Bombay Saphire,Tanquery and Beefeaters gins. The food presentations were artful and excellent and the quality of food ranked quite high in my book. Charlie Palmer and his mgmt. team took over this restaurant when GSR got rid of Dolce( previously reviewed by me). They have done a great job of redecorating the room and making it a pleasant, well lit and excellent addition to Reno's dining scene. Not an inexpensive spot, but well worth a visit and experience. I would say, however, that the final timing between dessert and final check being requested was too long. Also, just describing dessert items while holding the dessert menus in hand was a little complicated as we had no way to remember all the details- just give the menus to the patrons and explain items if there are questions. These comments are put forward in a constructive manner for a good restaurant to just improve a little bit. We will return.

We didn't expect much out of this place but couldn't have asked for anything more. My wife and I were celebrating Valentine's Day early so we grabbed a room and dinner before heading to NorthStar the next day. We were greeted promply by Jeff (great server) and the Sommelier, Steve, who was quite friendly and really knew his stuff. He tried the wine we brought and made a food recommendation that couldn't have been more right on. I had the Bone-in RibEye which is amazing as described in every other review. The seafood special of the night was solid but not amazing. After dinner we had a cheeze platter that came with toasted hazelnuts with a touch of cayenne which were spectacular as well as a persimmon jam that was just as great. We finished with a dessert flight which was also very good. I like that there were many little things that you could taste so you didn't get overwhelmed. Overall a fantastic experience, highly recommend!

Very amazing! Great bread, amazing steak, awesome potato truffle! Make sure you try the amazing chimichurri sauce! The hosts were great as well, and we loved the ambiance.

While staying and playing at the Grand Sierra my friends and I had dinner at this place. It look great from the outside and I was excited to try it. We had reservations, but then still had wait about 10-15 minutes! The person said our table wasn't ready and would call us, but never did and my friend had to check and then we got our table. When we were seated there were no menus and our waiter wasn't there for awhile. It took a while for us to get our food too. I had to say service was really slow at this place and this place is suppose to be fine dining! My friends and I all had steaks with appetizers. I had the porthouse cut which was very good and tender. A little salty, but good size and very tasty. My other friends had a ribeye which was too black for him. Another friend had the New York strip which came out cold. And another friend had filet migon which she liked for the most part. For appetizers we green asparagus which was excellent. Friend fries which was okay, and a potatoe dish which I thought was very good too. So overall, the food was good, but the service not so good, even though the wait staff seemed very nice.

Went here with a group of 9 friends on a Saturday night while attending a weekend conference at the hotel. We were seated at 7:30pm and given water and bread. Tasty. The waitress told us the specials and orders were taken. By 8:30, we were given our salads. By almost 9:30 our entrees finally arrived. A friend had ordered a half order of the tortellini with corn and received 5 tortellinis. I ordered the Farfalle at a half portion and was given a decent amount of pasta although the shrimp tasted dirty and very fishy. The artichokes were dry and the baby potatoes were dry and tasteless. It took over a half an hour to have our water refilled and the check arrived sometime close to 11pm. Having had eaten here the year before, the quality of service has diminished greatly in that time. We were greatly disappointed with the quality of food, the service time, and the service staff and we decided that we would not be returning for future dinners.

Great food and tremendous service. Good wine selection with a good "by the glass" availability. Steak was cooked as ordered and everything came out timely and exactly as presented in the menu. Service was attentive without being overbearing.

I'm torn between giving this place between a 2 and 3 star review. Upon arrival the girl who greeted us was in la-la land... I had her full attention until another person walked up and she literally interrupted me mid-sentence, turned away from me, and started talking to someone else. Extremely unprofessional...luckily I saw other members of my party and was able to track down our table on my own without her help. The wait staff was friendly and checked up on us often. The food was not amazing. The bone marrow appetizer was tasty but my main course ruined it for me. I ordered the lamb chops cooked medium. They were well done and even slightly burned on the outside. I had to trim off several parts that were black and crispy. Overall I would not go back here.

Charlie Palmer is the ONLY restaurant for me at the grand sierra and anytime I am flying out of Reno! I have been here numerous times and have tried a majority of the items on the menu. I typically sit in the lounge where it's a little more casual and relaxed, sometimes I enjoy sitting and eating at the bar as well. The bartenders are always friendly and deliver the food promptly. I LOVE the pear martini! Charlie's offers freshly baked bread with butter and sea salt that is divine! I like to start with a wedge salad ar the beginning of the meal and theirs is delicious! My two favorite items on the menu are the crab cakes and the beef carpaccio. I order them EVERY time! Words cannot express how delicious they are!

Great service. Lovely ambiance. Fresh and delicious oysters. $1 oysters after 5 pm on a Thursday. Ordered 3 dozens for 5 people. The oysters that day were Blue Points. Killed it!

In Reno for work and a colleague and I decided to have a nice steak dinner. The restaurant is beautiful, and they serve a wine flight. Excellent! Service was outstanding! We were presented with an amuse-bouche, what a lovely way to start a meal. I ordered the wine flight, and the sommelier explained that one of the wines was unavailable and he was switching it out. The wine flight was $21 or $22, and it was fun. The wines were unmemorable - ok. I ordered the bone marrow appetizer. Very good! Nice and hot served with a sweet red onion jam and grilled sour dough. For dinner, I chose the smallest steak they had, the 8 oz New York Strip. I ordered it medium rare/medium, but instead it was sadly very close to well done. If it weren't for the steak not being cooked correctly, I would've given them 4 stars for the rest of the food and for the wonderful service.

I don't normally dine in casino resorts, but when I do, I carnivore. The two of us got there a little bit before 7 to find that restaurant seating was closed off. Fortunately, the bar area included tables for dining (but 7 PM really isn't that late -__-). We were started off with a complimentary bread basket ( yelp.com/biz_photos/char… ) fulll of delicious starchy goodies. Move over sourdough baguettes--the muffin-shaped buns stole the starch show. I never have self control when it comes to anything that resembles a fluffy, buttery croissant. Never ever. Each entree includes one side dish and a CP signature salad. We decided on the PEPPERCORN CRUSTED PORTERHOUSE FOR TWO on a bed of balsamic red onions, $68.95 ( yelp.com/biz_photos/char… ). GEEZ THIS WAS DELISH. Rather than presenting the meat on the bone, they went and chop-sueyed the entire thing for our consuming convenience, which actually created a distribution of rarity since the inner pieces closer to the bone were rarer than the outer pieces. Keeps everyone happy! And the sautéed red onion are so yummy yummy for my tummy. Also, the Asian in me wanted to take home the huge bone to make soup stock. Would've done it if I wasn't en route to Lake Tahoe ahaha. NO SHAME MKAY. Since it was an entree for 2, we chose 2 sides: GOAT CHEESE MAC&CHEESE and CREAM-DRIZZLED ASPARAGUS ( yelp.com/biz_photos/char… ). You can guess which one I chose ahaha. The goat cheese was subtle, gently coating small macaroni shells. As for the CP signature salad, it was huge butter lettuce leaves doused in some creamy sauce, topped with crispy onion rings ( yelp.com/biz_photos/char… ). Just make sure to get the freshly ground pepper on top--seals the deal. Carnivores galore, rawr.

First time here. (I tried to do a yelp check in but there was no cellular service) We were a party of 4 and we brought two very special bottles of wine with us (That weren't on the wine list) We were seated in a lovely closed in booth. Which we were very happy with because this is a large place and it can get very loud but with the booth in the corner, you are in your own space. Angelia was are food server and she was absolutely wonderful. Our sommelier was also very helpful in helping us pick out another bottle of wine. Oysters, Steak and many of dishes were ordered. I am completely lame and I ordered the chicken which was equally delicious. We had a 7pm on a Saturday reservation and we were seated promptly. We were not rushed. Everyone who came to our table that evening, if it was clearing plates or serving up more wine or water, were all wonderful If you go there, you MUST order the peanut butter dessert. It was amazing! I didn't want to share it but I had to and it was so rich and wonderful, it was enough to go around. This was my first time going to the GSR. My only other casino has been the Eldorado. GSR was so clean inside and the people-watching was fantastic. Perhaps it was the UFC event that was also happening at the same time. If I ever get bored in the daytime, perhaps I will go to the bar, order a peanut butter dessert, some wine and people watch some more.

This wasn't my first trip to Charlie Palmer's, actually I believe it was my 4th. The food is always amazing. It really is. I recommend the CP signature salad, twice baked potato, mac n cheese, and the peanut butter bar. The service is hit or miss. We were double teamed (get your mind out of the gutter) and neither gentleman was very polished. Had it not been for the food they would have received 3 stars. The bar is also somewhat lacking. I ordered an Irish coffee and was brought a cup of coffee, a shot glass with Bailey's, and a container of fresh whipped cream. Bonus points for the fresh whipped cream but they are immediately stripped away by the fact that they cannot make a traditional Irish Coffee. Overall Charlie Palmer's is definitely worth going to for the yummies and the ambiance. Although I wouldn't sit directly underneath that big metal pointy sculpture that hangs from the ceiling...

We are a regular customers at this restaurant and the one in Vegas. Their food and service is exceptional. We had 2 steaks (filet mignon) and shared mashed potatoes and mushrooms. They had an amazing FOIE GRAS which I had for an appetizer. Yumm! They gave us 2 free Bibb salads with bacon and tomatoes. There were delicious as well. At the end they gave us free pieces of chocholate and cookies. Great atmosphere and great restaurant.

I want to start by saying we went to Charlie Plamer's for a departmental dinner. We had a pretty large group. So individuals/couples might have different experiences. The environment and staff were great. The restaurant has a modern feel to it. Nothing fancy, but the restaurant didn't feel boring either. Staff were quick, pleasant, and attentive to our needs. I don't think my wine glass was ever empty, which is a huge plus (at least until I asked them not to fill it anymore, which they respected)! The appetizers were delicious. I think the one thing we had the most difficulties with were our steaks. Half of the group sent their steaks back to the kitchen. In my case, I asked for my filet mignon to be medium well done. It came to me super well done. Almost like jerky. I sent it back, asked for medium well again, and it came back rare. Those that sent their steaks back, complained again that the kitchen staff messed their steaks up. It was a pretty widespread issue. That said, it was the only thing anyone complained about. Being that this restaurant specializes in steaks, I find it really unfortunate (both for the cost and for it's reputation) that the steaks were so poorly cooked. I won't be coming back for seconds.

I'm pretty sure the last time Charlie Palmer set foot in this resturaunt was when they opened Briscola next door. We came here because we wanted a good steak and thought after not coming for several years that they had upped their game. How wrong we were. First things first - the service was fantastic. Our server was very knowledgable and very helpful. The tables and restaurant were clean. Where Charlie Palmers falls short is the whole steak part (where you figure they'd nail it). We ordered the following: 2 x Crisp Iceberg Salad 1 x Kansas City Ribeye 1 x Grilled Pacific Salmon 1 x Four Graces Pinor Noir If you read the definition in the menu for the Iceberg salad it sounds a lot like a wedge salad, and that is in fact how it was delivered. Temperature however was right on the money with the description "Iceberg". It was so cold it made your teeth hurt. On top of that the amount of point reyes blue cheese was a joke compared to the amount of dressing slathered onto the salad. Oh well, we had a few bites but ultimately it wasn't worth eating. Ahh, the ribeye. Personally it's my favorite cut of meat and has the most flavor. 99% of the time a quality cut of meat should be able to stand on it's own without putting any kind of sauce on. Guess what? This wasn't that cut of meat. One would expect a USDA Prime cut of meat when you're ordering at Charlie Palmers - why would you serve anything less? Prime this was not - it was tough and grisly with a ton of fat on the edges. This was a nice slab of USDA Choice from the Save-mart down the street. I ordered it medium rare but it came medium - which unfortunately makes it hard to undo. Didn't want to wait for another one so I shared my wife Salmon. It was totally undercooked when it first came out but after sending it back it came back much better and was the best part of the meal. The wine of was fantastic of course. I'm sorry but I can't recommend this Charlie Palmers to anyone. I assume the only reason they have remained busy is due to the captive audience of people staying at the GSR. Just the lousy cut of meat being hocked as a premium piece of meat is a deal killer.

Thursday night dinner was fantastic! Service was perfect, food wonderful, restaurant was absolutely spotless, ambience nice. Stepping out of the rest of the GSR, where mediocrity is the rule, and into the place is like going to another world where perfect service rules, the kitchen takes pride in their work, and the entire experience is absolutely worth the high prices. Our server, Julien, was helpful, knowledgeable and really entertaining. Dave, the sommelier was outstanding. My NY strip sirloin was a perfect medium rare prime, the wife's halibut was perfect. Baked bread was delicious, as were the sides and dessert, the peanut butter bar and crem brulee, were as beautiful as they were delicious. Truly a memorable dinner, worth the $$$ pricetag.

Wow! Wow! Wow! So I was a little bit skeptical about going to a restaurant in the casino. But from the moment, to the moment we left, The staff took care of us such a delightful and noninvasive way. Now for the food: the filet was phenomenal. I would recommend that you listen to your servers suggestions for side dishes. We loved the truffled stuffed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Perfect meal!

I'm not sure what's so amazing at this restaurant that would warrant the prices on the entire menu here. I came with my mom and uncle for dinner over the weekend as we were staying at the hotel and exhausted our other dining options. I'm not one to mind a high price tag if it is deserved, but eating here did not meet my expectations. I will say the servers were prompt, generally friendly, and attentive. I couldn't get my water glass to half-empty if I tried -- someone was always there sneaking in to fill it back up. The fresh bread they give you as a starter was also quite delicious, especially the buttery croissant-like muffins. The lobster bisque was first up of my order. It tasted pretty good, very rich and creamy with kind of a caramel flavor to it, and a sweet piece of lobster on top. I was disappointed, however, to find two pieces of shell I'm guessing (hoping?) in it, which seemed pretty bizarre. I ordered the sea scallops with bacon for my main course. I suppose I should have asked before ordering, but given the price of $16.25, I would have thought there would be more than TWO small scallops. My mistake! The bacon was also not what I expected: a small hunk of charred, dry meat nestled between the two scallops. I love bacon. All kinds of it. This, I could barely get one bite down. The scallops were, however, cooked perfectly and were delicious. The one scallop that touched the strange, incredibly bitter "marmalade" was slightly less delicious than the other. My uncle ordered the pork chop and my mom had the halibut with asparagus risotto. I tasted both and the pork was pretty good, but the halibut was rather bland. Maybe we just lucked out by ordering seafood at a steak spot, but given the ambiance and the price points, I would have expected better.

My husband and I absolutely adore this place. We go here for special occasions or when we feel like having a really amazing steak. The service is just impeccable. They never treat us different even though we are in our 20s and therefore extremely younger than their average clientele. But in fact, they smile at us and show us the kind of service and dedication that makes up keep coming back. This place is classy, intimate and romantic and the food is just so flipping amazing. Just the breads that they serve while you wait for your dinner is to die for! We always get the same things. I love their dinner rolls and their jalapeno corn bread! Oh man, salivating just thinking about it. Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer, salads, steaks, asparagus and potato puree with wines. On one occasion, one of the staff members noticed that it was our anniversary and they surprised us by making a treat dessert for us! It was included a whole show about it, where the server brought a cart by our table, turned on the stove and made fried something with ice cream! I asked my husband if it was his doing and he said no! It was a special treat on the house! ADORE THIS PLACE! It's always a special night when we come here and we love it!

I've been to this steak house many times before and tonight was a big disappointment .. Our reservation was at 645 .By 820 our main course still didn't arrive. .The whole time I kept looking at the server with a questionable glance .People that got seated after us got their food before us so I'm wondering WTF is going on. I asked the waiter what the delay was and why was our food taking so long ?? He stated that my BF was away from the table. After speaking to the GM he was absolutely no help so we decide to leave. WILL NOT be coming back here again ... Horrble service Offensive waiters Bad overall experience

I like this restaurant. Came here for my parents' anniversary dinner while we were staying in the hotel (it's located inside the Grand Sierra Resort). First of all, I love the decor. It's very urban chic and looks more like Las Vegas (or even NYC) than Reno (no offense to Reno). We had 2 main servers - one took our orders and another looked like he managed everyone else. While the service was excellent - very friendly people - the food is what I love. The bread! There's two types of bread - one was served in a small baking tray. They knew that we loved the bread so they kept giving us more. You can easily fill up on just the bread. I started with the crab cakes and ordered the free range chicken with a side of potato puree and grilled shrimp. The crab cakes were delicious. Though the server said it was pretty big, I thought it was good enough for one person. The free range chicken was juicy. The potato puree was so smooth and buttery. The shrimp was absolutely the best. For desert, we had the creme brulee and cheesecake. Creamy and not too sweet. And since it was the holidays, our server gave each of us personal fruit cakes. Not a fan of fruit cake, but love the gesture.

The steak was amazing. My boyfriend and I ordered the peppercorn steak for two and it came with 2 salads and 2 sides. The steak was huge! I think that steak could feed 3-4 people. I love their chimichurri sauce! My boyfriend is a huge steak aficionado and he even said the steak was delicious (and he never says that about anything because usually, he thinks he could make food better himself). As for sides, he ordered the truffle baked potato and I got the Mac and cheese. Both delicious! For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake and homemade sorbet and they were rich but not too rich! All in all, we had a great food experience and highly recommend it! Plus, their bread basket is delicious (you need to try the jalapeño cornbread)!

OH YEAH!!! =D I am usually not really fan of Casino's restaurants but, I have to say that Charlie Palmer was AMAZING! The food was delicious and the service was impeccable!!! I got the Maine Lobster and I have to say that it was the best one I ever had around Reno. The beat salad with Goat cheese was so good! People were nice -which is very important for me as well. I am very happy I decided to try this place and tell my friends -that LOVE good food, about it. Its very cool that even if you don't make to the dessert like happens to me, you still get a sample of different sweets and, after paying you also get some delicious Banana bread to take home! I got home happy and very satisfied...wanting more tasty food like that.. =D

This is my favorite restaurant for special occasions in all of Reno. Their food is exquisite, but very expensive unless you go for the happy hour menu. It's about $25 and it comes with a choice of Salmon, Filet Mignon, or Chicken, a side, a wedge salad, and an unbelievable dessert. Highly recommended! I always get the filet with potatoes au gratin and the peanut butter chocolate dessert.

We had a great experience here. The food was divine. We started with the beet salad which was delicious and presented on a crispy wafer coated with goat cheese and on a bed of arugula. My entree was the halibut special on seafood risotto. Truly flavorful and beautifully presented. Our waitress , Susie, was the best!

Had an unexpected awesome dinner at charlie palmers the other night, and it was the highlight of my week ! My boyfriend and I met up with a friend who was staying GSR, we all weren't too hungry and were thinking of just having an appetizer or two in the bar, but we ended up having the 40 something ounce rib eye! The friendly and very hospitable hostess gave us a seat in the lounge and we waited for the bartender to wait on us, but he was clearly very busy and could not attend to us right away. I completely understood, the bar was almost full plus a few tables in the lounge. We thought maybe we should get a seat in the restaurant but there was a 30 minute wait ! We were now hungry ! All of the sudden the lovely hostess who informed us of the wait, was now our awesome waitress ! Or I guess I should say server :/ anyways .. Kylie was so great! She took charge and made our night amazing ! She described the menu items we were curious about and she caught our attention on the rib eye, which we ordered and shared between the three of us , we loved it! It was cooked to perfection and the presentation was something else ! Also is started out with yummy house salads that happen to be a delicious upgraded version of a classic wedge, made with fresh butter lettuce instead if iceberg and buttermilk ranch instead of blue cheese. The dinner was absolutely great! Always pretty happy with the food at Charlie Palmers, but this time we were more happy than we've ever been with the service ! Kylie was so friendly and professional , she was a delight to to our night! Her co workers were also great too , they seem to have good team work going on. We will be back ! Sooner than later :) thanks Kylie !

I get to eat here about every other month. I love the service and food is delicious. The chefs show real passion through their food. The menu changes every season, and the specials change nightly or weekly depending on the time of year so there is always something new to try.

Crap service trumps the quality of the food. We sat at the bar and the woman at the bar did not check to see if we needed a drink or menus or if we wanted to order. She seemed bothered when we asked for a drink menu and looked completely lost. Robert (who brought out the food) was the most helpful person - he needs to be behind the bar or interacting with customers. Do not put someone who isn't constantly interacting with people or is having a bad day in front of customers - it makes for a horrible experience at your restaurant.

This is a mixed review because there was some good points and some bad points. I went while visiting Reno with my sister. We had a reservation and got there early and they sat us right away even after quoting a 15 minute wait to the couple ahead of us who did not have a reservation, I liked that! We were seated and waited on immediately by a crew of servers, all of them men. The ambiance was romatic and comfortable with dim lighting. It felt like a place that you would go for a special occasion. I felt a bit pressured to order wine by the wine server who made no recommendations or small talk. Luckily I chose well because I really loved my Opolo Zin from Paso Robles, I even ordered another glass! Julian was our main server and he took our order and made small talk and was friendly and attentive. He and all the other servers seemed to want to give 5 star service at this upscale steakhouse. I ordered the NY Strip and my sister ordered the Blue Cheese Crusted Sirloin, and we both ordered the truffle oil twice baked potato. Our steaks came and they lay a boned piece of meat down in front of me.... not sure what it was but I knew my strip did not have a bone so I told them that is not what I ordered... total confusion among the servers for a minute while they tried to figure out what I had ordered, but they removed the steak and I waited a few minutes before Julian came over apologizing profusely saying my steak would be out soon. Meanwhile Julian brought us some sauteed mushrooms on the house, which tasted average, and he brought me a new potato since I did not want to eat mine until I had my steak. A few minutes later (probably a total of 10 minutes wait from the time my sister received her food) my steak came. It looked wonderful! I cut into it and it looked raw. I tasted it and it was cold! I hated to do it but I had to send this $40 piece of meat back because I was not going to eat it any other way than how I wanted to eat it for $40!! I hate having to be this customer and was embarrased and frustrated. My sister was already eating as slow as possible waiting for my food............. Julian took the steak and apologized again and said he would give us special desserts to make up for it. About 10 minutes or so later my SAME STEAK with a piece cut off came out (along with the cut off piece) and it was cooked perfectly and was so very delicious. The truffled twice baked potatoes were a total dissapointment. They were hollowed out baked potatoes with a whipped creamy filling of mashed potatoes and bacon bits... and not tastey bacon bits. I did not taste any truffle oil whatsoever.... and to boot my sister's baked potato part was completely dried out, and not edible... and after she ate the mashed potato part you could see it was all black and hard and just wrong... I also want to mention that the "blue cheese crusted" sirloin was not blue cheese crusted but instead just had blue cheese on top. My fancy sounding garlic NY strip simply had piecies of roasted garlic on top. Both these additions to the beef and the descriptions seemed misleading to me. Also both steaks had the same cab reduction sauce on them which was totally bland and did nothing for the flavor of the meat. After the wrong and raw meat mishaps our meal went very well. Julian gave us two complimentary desserts, the peanut butter bar and the strawberry cheesecake. The peanut butter bar was to die for, We both loved it, the strawberry cheescake looked outstanding but neither one of us liked it much, it was more a cheesecake mouse than cheesecake. Julian also gave us two single serving banana bread cakes for our breakfast the next day. I really appreciated the comped items to make up for the mistake but I thought it would have been more appropriate for a comped meal or a comped glass of wine. I feel like if I had I been a male patron it would have been a different story. Overall the meal was good and the service was good but would have been so much better had their not had problems.... seems risky to go back and pay that kind of money again.

Excellent food very well presented. Very good service with just the right amount of attention from our servers Robert and Loren. The general manager, Tommy Cortopassi, also stopped to check on how we were enjoying our meal. The seating was comfortable, the background music stayed in the background, and the lighting was perfect. This is definitely a place to which we will be returning.

All I can say is WOW! I'm a little perplexed by some of the negative reviews on this restaurant. I consider myself to be a bit of a foodie and have dined in fine dining establishments in Paris, Rome, London, New York, San Fran, Las Vegas and other great food cities. My wife and I were celebrating our 24th anniversary and wanted to have dinner at a nice restaurant. The interior design of Charlie Palmer's reminded me of some of the larger elegant restaurants in New York with clean lines, open spaces, yet booths that provide a more intimate experience. You can't really see the main dining room from the entrance of the restaurant. Our meal began with a traditional bread basket. The variety of bread was a nice start with french bread, traditional dinner roll, and sweet cornbread muffins with diced jalapeno pieces. The cornbread muffin was a welcome surprise. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller as a starter and it had a nice balance of flavor with emphasis on the spinach. And why are Oysters Rockefeller so hard to find anymore on a fine dining menu??? Our entree's came with side salads and my wife loved the Dijon vinaigrette that came with the salad, while I requested bleu cheese dressing which was not an option, but they accommodated me anyway, which is always a good sign of the quality of a restaurant. The salads were nice size without being too large or too small. For our entree's, my wife had the halibut and I had a filet and 1/2 lobster which included half a tail and 1 of the claws. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the lobster was served in the half tail shell with what tasted like a Cognac-cream sauce. The sauce was delicate and not overdone. Now at this point I have to say that I am a sauce loving maniac! I think it's my Danish heritage, but I was all smiles when the server also placed a trio of sauces for the steak which included a lovely Bearnaise, a Chimichurri, and tropical fruit blended sauce with a hint of BBQ. My wife thought the halibut was slightly overcooked, but still very tasty, while her risotto was cooked to perfection. When we both thought we couldn't eat one more bite, our waiter provided us with a dessert menu and after saying that we couldn't eat another bite, he insisted on treating us to desert since it was our anniversary. We chose the strawberry cheesecake, with is not something my wife and I would normally have, but it was recommended to us. That cheesecake was one of the best either of us have ever had. It was very delicate in flavor and had a light, fluffy texture, and it was served like a small cake on a vanilla wafer cookie and swirled with several fruit sauces and ripe slices of strawberries. It was so fantastic but we were so full, we couldn't eat it all. After finishing what we could, we were then presented with a small plate of lemon-rasberry cookies and chocolate truffles! Then if that wasn't enough, just before we left we were given a banana, chocolate chip tea cake wrapped in cellophane and silk ribbon to take with us! We have never been treated to so many little surprises within a single dinner. The staff was very helpful, kind, and accommodating and seemed to anticipate our needs before they became apparent to us. There was not a single thing we had to request throughout the several hours we enjoyed dinner. If there is just one service that I might recommend the restaurant incorporate, it would be a Table Crumber sweep after each course. But there is no way I'm going to knock a star off for a service that hardly any restaurant in the United States offers. Charlie Palmer Steak House was truly an evening of elegant dining, beautiful ambiance, and professional, caring service! They get an A+ in my book, and I wish to thank them for such a great evening of memorable dining.

Got one of the last seats at the bar. I asked the hostess of the adjacent restaurant first but it's a seat yourself type of deal. There was a baseball game on so this might've been the reason for the busyness. I was near the end of the bar so I didn't see how many bartenders there were but it took a little while to be helped. Maybe one or two bartenders. Anyways, put in my order for a beer and a burger. The CP burger is probably their most reasonably priced item on the menu ($14). I really wanted the foie gras but it was out of my price range. Anyways, my favorite beer was on tap and it hit the spot. The burger was huge. Filled with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and a great thick beef patty cooked a good medium. It was huge but I was starving so I finished it up quickly. Wish it came with a side or something but everything was extra. I was able to pay for my beer and burger separately and it was cool of them.

I really wanted to give this place a 5 Star because it was so impressive when we walked in. The ambiance was romantic and sophisticated so we were expecting great things. When we were seated the wait staff was very attentive letting us know the names of the staff that would be serving us.....then it went down hill. I ordered the bisque after reading the great reviews, and I was so disappointed; it literally had no taste. It had a beautiful presentation and after the first bite I thought maybe I just had scooped up too much cream, but unfortunately that was not the case. The soup was served luke-warm as well. My husband ordered the french-onion soup and I was so jealous when I saw it as it was served with a puff-pastry topping....it looked beautiful! Unfortunately he had the same problem, the base of the soup had little flavor, such a let down. Onto the salads and entrees. Our salads arrived about 20 minutes after our soups which was a little long to wait, but they were very tasty and fresh. After our salad plates were cleared away our main server came to our table and said I will get your salads now. We told him our salads had been served and cleared away. He said, "oh I have clearly missed a step." Another 25 minutes went by before our steaks arrived. I ordered the bleu cheese encrusted sirloin (medium rare) and my husband ordered the New York Strip. To be fare his was cooked to perfection and watered in his mouth. Thankfully he did share with me so I could have something that had some taste. Mine however was a complete bust. Mine was so small that I could not believe it qualified as a steak. Getting past the portion size, it was so over-cooked and dry it was barely edible. It took 20 minutes for our server to come back and after waiting 40 minutes to get our entrees I did not want wait any longer. He looked at the steak and apologized and that was basically it, he did not offer to bring another one (which at this point I wouldn't have wanted.) We ordered a mushroom medley as a side that was served again luke-warm and looked as if it had been over-cooked and had a bland taste. As I said this was a pricey dinner and we really had great expectations. The restaurant is sophisticated and has a great atmosphere...not sure if this was a fluke night for them, but I would probably not go back..

Some of the best food and service I've ever had!!! If your in Grand Sierra and looking for food, you must try. They are expensive but well worth it. I hate spending money but skip the black jack table for an hour and try it. My friends got the rib eye steak... Huge!! and I got the burger with fries... MY GOD! You're welcome.

This was my first time here and our fairly large party of 9 dined together just last night. I was impressed upon being seated and liked the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. We had a reservation at 6pm and it wasn't quite busy at that time. In fact, it grew busier as the night went on. We were there for two hours; the service was great at first, but then we started wondering where our waiter went. I saw him around helping other tables and I cannot blame him for doing his job as it grew busier. We waited at least a half hour just to order dessert and get our check and have them bring the card back to the table. It wasn't that bad, but we were worried we'd miss our show that was afterwards. I ordered linguine with clams and I wasn't a fan of the linguine. It looks like they make their own pasta. Not a bad thing, but it was so thick and didn't seem like it went well with the sauce and all. There were many clams still in their shells, so I was glad they serve many clams. My favorite was the garlic bread though - very impressive. I liked the marinara dipping sauce, too. My boyfriend ordered the chicken piccata and it was great. He wasn't a fan of the pasta either, but he enjoyed his meal overall. Lastly, dessert: I thought I couldn't go wrong with tiramisu (from a fancy Italian restaurant) but I regretted not ordering the creme brûlée like my sister had. The cookies served with it were really good, too. Unfortunately, the tiramisu looked far better than it tasted. The presentation looked great, however it tasted like something a hospital's cafeteria would serve! The lady fingers were so thin that you mostly got the whipped cream (?) and "mascarpone" - didn't taste that either. I like to taste the coffee in my tiramisu and there was none of that! But thats my personal preference in tiramisu. Everyone ordered a variety of desserts and enjoyed them. In fact, I didn't hear anyone complain about their meals. I am very thankful to have dined at Briscola and will give it another go in the future. Also, our waiter was very helpful and well-mannered which I appreciated very much...& pretty cute ;-)

Went there twice, during our "Ski Week" in area and because we are staying in the "Grand Sierra" hotel. At first, place appear to position itself as "superior" place to have nice steak in the town and everything that comes with it. In reality it's just average "Streak Restaurant" (for SF/LA/NYC point of judgment) - that offering NOT BAD steaks, but price-wise I think they do a bit overpriced for their level of establishment. We paid less for similar level of dinner in "Ruth Chris Steak House" in San Francisco, don't see that it's can be more expensive in Reno - but, I guess you never know. Don't want judge this place by price point alone - but somehow, cannot "feel it" how they are so special to justify their level of prices (quality of food, variety of wines, service and ambiance). So, on my opinion balance of those factors let me give them solid 3 stars.

Been here twice. First time in 2011. What a huge improvement! Amazing Foe Gras! One of the best Porterhouses if no the best I have ever had.

Out Standing. Wife had the venison, I had the bone in Rib eye. We had a bottle of cab and for cocktails I had a couple of Blue Label scotches. I am always happy when I find a steak house that serves a great scotch by the glass. My wife was so happy with her venison, that she cant wait to go back. Dont be in a hurry as its one of those places. The wait staff was attentive, yet not smothering. The mushroom medley and truffle potato were delicious. It was our anniversary and they prepared a dessert from the Italian restaurant next door and presented it to us. Something with peanut butter cream. It is pricey and I am not sure that the portions match the price, but it is a placed to be pampered and not worry about what your spending.

Our friends were eager to bring us here, having had a great dinner a few months back. Alas, this evening was a letdown. It was good, but far from great. This is a chain, albeit an upscale one, and there are many better steakhouses all over the West, even in the SF Bay Area. For that matter, we enjoyed Sterlings, CP's competitor, more the next night, altho it too has some flaws. Pros: - Big spacious booths. Literally, a ton of dining RE. The luxury feel is undermined by the high noise factor from a lot of hard surfaces, however. - Beet and goat cheese salad is very well executed. - Very good beef, and they don't pre-salt it. The waiter brings three sauces gratis, and there are others you can order. All are pretty standard, and average quality. - Crab-stuffed filet nicely done; the crab was generous and not overcooked. - Sauteed mushrooms side is good, nice white wine flavor. Not for kids. - Chocolate Peanut Butter bar dessert: a layer of chocolate crumbs, a 2" high light-textured peanut butter mousse, a topping of chocolate glaze. It was excellent! Cons: - Lobster ravioli were lumpy, leaden, tasteless. Rich cream sauce is good, but what's the point? This is an old-style, pedestrian dish. - Even a side salad is big enough to split. They should pay more attention to quality and less to quantity. The Caesar's romaine was old shredded leaves. The anchovies were nice fresh pickled but only as an addition; you can't use these to make the Caesar dressing. The tiny shreds of Parmesan were the type you'd get in a 1-lb. bag of pre-shredded Kraft cheese. Biggest con: Service was the "bete noir" of this dinner. It was amateur and smacked of "newbie". - He didn't know what kind of peppers were used for the pepper-crusted rack of veal. White? Black? Green? Pink? Heck, who knows? None of the staff did, even after going into the kitchen to ask. - He promised I could get my foie gras plain, *sans* the French Toast, cooked a medium-rare - but it came with the soggy toast (which was a terrible sub for the classic Quatre Epices toast), and was raw in the middle. I sent it back to be re-done. - The four of us were having an uneven # of starters and entrees, so he told us how the course progression would be...which wasn't followed. - Did not tell us that getting the Caesar as the side salad eliminated the table prep (but as it turned out, the Caesar was awful anyway, so we didn't miss anything). Overall, it's a chain with a Big Name. The four of us had a better, almost identical meal at Sterlings the very next night. Our group had an even better foie gras/steak meal at Barrymore's in LVegas in Jan 2014, and at Bouchee in Carmel in Oct 2013. None of us would bother coming back here.

February 14, 2012 Tuesday - dinner 6:15 PM 2 adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - A Groupon deal with tickets to see Sense and voucher for Briscola. I have never been here before. Atmosphere - Considering you are in the heart of the casino you step into a tiny little place, cellar like atmosphere. Arched ceiling made with dark colored brinks. The lighting is a little dim but not a black hole. Food Appetizer - We had three cheeses. We got to pick the cheese and took the waiters recommendation. Excellent choices. The plate also came with apples, red grapes, and fruit spread. Additional plate had toasted bread that was perfect for the cheeses and the fruit spread. Main Course - I went with the Prosciutto Wrapped Pork Tenderloin, one word WOW. Yeah you hear this all the time, it just melts in your mouth. Pork can be a tough meat to cook and make it moist. Well this was really moist and flavorful. Then you add the prosciutto to it, amazing. Sorry my picture does not do this plate any justice. Dessert - we skipped this tonight. Service - We got there early, our reservation was for 6:30 but we were seated promptly. They use a team of waiters for service and things are done very efficiently. We had a question about the cheese and our waiter did not know, he found someone promptly to answer them. Future - A perfect place for romantic night, a little pricey but well worth it.

For a "celebrity restaurant", I was very disappointed. First, there is NO vegetarian entree options for my partner. She had a salad and some fries. However, the waiter kept asking in a very patronizing voice if she would like to order something more since she didn't order very much. As for my steak, it was mediocre at best. Too much "sauce" and overcooked when I ordered medium rare. I can grill a better steak than this anytime. Definitely NOT worth the price.

My review is for Briscola-- Italian...really? I ordered chicken piccata and they served it with MASHED POTATOES! Really? Come on guys...I thought I was at the Italian house not the steak house! Yikes! I needed to get in that kitchen myself!

Decent steak and atmosphere. Probably the best place to eat if you are at GSR. Expensive but it is an old school steak place so that should not come as a surprise. Not my favorite steak place that I have ever been to but at the same time not bad either. If you are staying at the GSR and going to eat here I would highly recommend it. Otherwise don't make a special trip.

I used to actually think this was one of the top ten places in town, but I feel they have let things slide. Service was horrible. I'm not sure how anyone in Reno can justify an $8 corporate lager on tap (i.e., 1664). It used to be one of my favorite places. I simply think staff don't care anymore and it shows in how they treat customers.

The most attention to service and details, the food cooked exactly as ordered! Even a special to go treat upon leaving. Listen to your server on cooking suggestions as some cuts of meat will toughen if cooked beyond medium which is not the cows or cooks fault :) I'm choosy I expect same quality as I cook when I pay for someone else to cook, we got that here! this is a high line restaurant it's expensive and you get the service like royalty here!

Went last night for a romantic dinner. Was very disappointed. It was a Monday night and not very crowded. First off, they were out of oysters. This happens, especially after a busy weekend, but not a great start. I ordered a Ketel1 Martini. It was only slightly shaken so not as cold as I would have liked, but acceptable! We ordered Caesar Salad for 2 prepared tableside. The dressing was mostly pre-made, so it wasn't completely "tableside", but it was very good - probably the best part of the meal. This cost an extra $5 each.. We ordered the Porterhouse for 2. This was also supposed to be prepared table-side, but was not. A guy brought us the steak on a plate, showed it to us, then took it back to kitchen and brought it back cut -up. definitely nothing "table-side" about the preparation. The meat was huge and the filet side was very good. However the NY strip side was tough, and full of gristle and fat. I had a hard time cutting it with a steak knife! $68 is a lot to pay for just a filet steak. The four sauces served alongside tasted pretty good (I didn't get why serve a bunch of heavy sauces with a good meat, until we tasted that tough side!). The sauces were sort of congealed like they had been sitting out awhile. Side dishes were NOT included, so it was another $6 for mac and cheese and $4 for mushrooms. I am a huge mushroom fan but these did not taste right. Lastly my husband ordered a coffee and I ordered a Cappuccino. Very, Very disappointing here. I was expecting a small mug with strong espresso and a little foam. Instead they brought a big coffee mug (same as hubby's) with what tasted like coffee and about 2 inches of foam on it. I didn't drink much of it. The service was excellent. The décor was nice, but there's no way to keep the smoke from drifting in from the casino. It wasn't heavy smoke, but definitely there. Bottom line - this place is not worth the money. The food quality needs attention and meal descriptions should match what is served.

A great fine-dining experience and amazing food and service. I took my wife here on our anniversary, I had the ribeye which was phenomenal and my wife had the salmon. Our sides were the twice baked truffled potatoe and the goat cheese mac and cheese. The food was so good I'm drooling while typing this. The dining experience, atmosphere and food were amazing and the price was reasonable. Will definitely be going back

I've been here 4+ times because my partner and I enjoy staying at the Grand Sierra and I love steak. The steak and the service are consistently good. This place is great for satisfying a chain steak dining experience in Reno. On my most recent visit, all of the "specials" had quotation marks around one thing or another. Our server could explain the "kobe" beef (wasn't actually kobe), but was clueless to the rest of the them. In the end, I think my "lobster stuffed" filet was actually lobster stuffed and was definitely delicious. Tips: seriously try the steak, you are in a steakhouse. French onion & lobster bisque soups are both great. +1 star for surprise sweets at the end of the meal & a coffee cake to take home.

The Grand Sierra Resort makes the desert that is Reno, Nevada kind of fun.. (and Circus Circus!) Charlie Palmer is the finest restaurant in GSR. Made a reservation and was seated shortly after we arrived. I'm going to skip the elaborate description of the decor and service and go straight to the grub: - Prawn cocktail: Nice, fresh start to the meal. The kimchi was a nice touch. - The Special (some elk dish with blueberry sauce... forgive my lack of a better description) ($42?): I'm not a big fan of lamb, elk, ostrich, bear, snake, etc but I'll try it in hopes to be pleasantly surprised. The venison was like butter and pretty tasty. - Filet with caramelized onions ($34): Medium rare and cooked perfectly. Looks small but it's thick! I liked the portion. It also came with 3 dipping sauces, which was not needed as the meat was flavorful enough. - Parmesan Potato Gratin: Creamy and the perfect side for our meal. Can't go wrong with meat & potatoes! - Vanilla Bean Cheesecake ($8): Wasn't leaving without dessert! This was so yummy and also our waiters favorite. The cheesecake was fluffy, yet creamy and the cookie was extra crunchy. Blueberry compote added a nice sweet flavor. Loved it. - Complimentary bites: See photo ( media1.ct.yelpcdn.com/bp… ) I ate most of it... so yummy... Even with my AMEX giftcard, the total was less than I expected ($140~) I enjoyed my meal and the overall experience. Craving that cheesecake...

Over all food was very flat, no a lot of flavor. Service was great. My wine had a floater in it, calamari was not seasoned and even with the dipping sauce still had no flavor, chicken parmesan was nothing special and the side of spaghetti was a dry clump with non eventful sauce slopped on top. Decor was nice, service was better than most, I was really hoping this would stand up to the Charlie Palmer Steak house standards.

Came here for my first time tonight with my parents and my boyfriend. For a place that I've heard good things about, I wasn't exactly impressed. First impression was the hostess. Nicely dressed, yes. But attention to her surroundings, not quite there. Instead of standing there, waiting to greet her customers, it was as if she waited for my party and I to greet her. The four of us walked up to the hostess stand, waiting to be seated but she was texting on her phone, hidden in one of the pull out drawers, and didn't even notice us standing there until my dad said something. Seems as if whatever text she was sending or whatever info she was looking up was quite important. We had mentioned that we had a reservation for 4 at 7:15 but she proceeded to put us in for a reservation and then something clicked and she realized that we already had a reservation and was just waiting to be seated.... Upon being seated, I noticed that the ambience is very romantic. Dim lighting throughout the restaurant, with a candle on each table. Seeing all the food being brought out to the other tables made me thought that this meal seems promising. Our server (not sure what his name was), came by with menus and a wine list, went over the specials that were available for the night, etc etc. Cool, he seems nice, aside from the fact that I couldn't really hear him clearly since he was of an older age with an extremely raspy voice but that's fine. All was well with him until he came over to take our orders. I ordered for my parents (as I always do, since their English isn't the greatest). As I was placing my order, I noticed that he kept glancing in a different direction, as I was speaking to him. Once or twice is okay in my book but it was through everyone's orders. I wasn't even sure if he had gotten our entire order since he kept glancing in different directions and the only feedback I got from him was "mmhmm" after every order. Now, I'm now being a rude b**** talking about him on here as I am a server as well and when my customers are ordering, my attention is focused on them and I make eye contact with them to ensure that they know I am focused on them. The food was not anything to-die-for. My dad got the 14oz dry aged NY steak with 1/2 a lobster, mom got the 8oz kobe filet mignon with 1/2 a lobster, my boyfriend got the 8oz filet mignon with tiger prawns, and I got the 14oz dry aged NY steak with parmesan au gratin. The lobster was whatever but the tiger prawns were really good. Nice crunchy texture and flavor and just about the same size as the "1/2 of lobster." So either that lobster is small or the prawns were giant, maybe a little bit of both. The steaks were good, very soft and tender. My au gratin was very creamy but thats about it. My boyfriend and my mom got the grilled veggies as sides but they weren't seasoned or anything. At least, I didn't think it was and I usually don't consume a lot of salt. The salad in the beginning of the meal was pretty good. The balsamic vinaigrette had a good flavor; not too sour and not too sweet, a nice balance of both. For dessert, I got the creme brûlée. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. Just like any other creme brûlée. After I had finished the creme brûlée, our server brought out a plate of raspberry bars, biscotti biscuits, and chocolate truffles. I was so confused as to why he had placed them on the table. He could've at least said they were complementary so I didn't have to order dessert and fill myself over the limit. But maybe if he had been around to take my dessert order instead of having another server do so, he may have stopped me and told me there were complementary raspberry bars, etc. Overall, I've had better experiences at other places, with staff who are eager to serve their customers. For the cost of this meal ($350), I feel that I could've gone somewhere else with better service, to say the least.

I dont usually stray out to these parts when Im in Tahoe, but since it was a long weekend, what the hell. Im not huge into going to Casino's and had no idea it was in a resort. The place is pretty damn big. You could hold SCCA races in the parking lot! Glad that there's no smoking in the restaurant but it still makes its way eventually. After talking to the nice staff we went with: - CAJUN CRUSTED BEEF CARPACCIO - ARUGULA / PARMEASAN CHEESE / AGED BALSAMIC / WHOLE GRAIN MUSTARD AIOLI -SEARED AHI TUNA - SHORT RIB RAVIOLI / FOIE GRAS PAN SAUCE -BONE IN NY STEAK - BLEU CHEESE BUTTER, CONFIT GARLIC -PARMESAN POTATO GRATIN -TWICE BAKED TRUFFLE POTATO -"CP" APPLE FRITTER - APPLE MOUSSE / VANILLA DIPPING SAUCE I guess for the area, everything was really good. They also give you a lot of food. Servers were all really attentive and very nice. If this were in any other big city you might say it was just above average but you have to take the place for its context.

Where to begin...we used to really enjoy Briscola, especially in Reno that has many great Italian food restaurants....will not ever go back, Charlie might want to check up on this place...if he is involved at all which judging by our food he may be trying to get as far away from as possible... Menu now looks as if it were the Olive Garden, plastic covered, bad photos, etc. Website advertised a Family Supper with fixed items - upon sitting, the menu did not reflect the website and honestly, was drastically inferior to the advertised Supper menu - i.e spaghetti carbonara with either steak or scallops was replaced by pasta marinara and alfredo with meatballs, 1 sausage, and 1 shrimp to share between two people... Now for the actual dining and food - two of us ordered the family supper which is a 5 course, fixed menu and I ordered the chicken "al Mattone". I was offered a Caesar salad for $3.00 and accepted. My "Caesar" came out, swimming in dressing and was only a garden salad - i.e. tomatoes and cucumber - with way too much dressing. Apparently there is an actual Caesar, I didn't get it but hope it was better than what I got. The other two at the table were supposed to get a antipasto plate first, it didn't come, only one house salad instead of the two that was supposed to come. Another server said the antipasto would be out later...and "later" it came. It was ok. No fresh ground pepper on salad or pasta - other patrons did, we did not. The Supper pastas and my chicken came out next. Pasta ok, could have been made at home. Chicken - advertised as grilled under a brick with caramelized brussel sprouts, seemed to be boiled in the same water as the brussel sprouts. Pale chicken was cooked, brussel sprouts raw - not caramelized but boiled, and made me remember why I love the roasted brussel sprouts of my adulthood and hate boiled brussel sprouts of my childhood. Watery brown sauce on everything - was very pedestrian and cafeteria like. Again, the Supper was to include meatballs, sausage, and shrimp, they apologetically showed up right before we asked that our dessert be boxed up so that we could come home, open another nice bottle of wine (the one we brought - corked for $25, was hastily poured once and never looked at again) and try to forget the poor food we just choked down. We also never got new plates or new silverware between any course. The only highpoints were the young men who were quick to ask if we needed more bread and more water. Anyone who knows about restaurants understands that the heart of a restaurant is the kitchen. When food is prepared poorly and is expedited improperly, the meal will be a disappointment and the poor servers are left to serve food with no rhyme or reason. When a server - or a variety of servers in our case, are asked to deliver food in no particular order, the dining experience will undoubtedly be poor. Again, a total disappointment after many good meals. Sorry Charlie.

WELCOME TO CHARLIE PALMER!!!! Yes, I go here everytime I visit Reno and YES i do visit Reno a lot. First of all, if you guys are visiting reno, you need to stay at Grand Sierra Resort Casino, because they have the nicest Rooms and Staff. The rooms are cheap... oh wait going off topic..... I have been to many steak house restaurants all over the world. People always claim *blah blah* is the best steak place. I heard and ate it all. I love this place because first of all, hot front desk Hosts seating you to your table. Then once you sit down to a nice environment where I could picture someone purposing to their gf on a special nite. Here is the breakdown of the food. 1. They serve you break. Freaking Delicious. Dont eat too much or you wont be able to finish your meal. 2. Appetizers, Oysters are awesome and fresh if you are into that. Foie Gras is good only because us Californians cant eat it anymore in cali cuz its banned. The crab/seafood platter is pretty legit and its a big meal so share with buddies. 3. Entries. Porter house for 2 is FREAKING LEGIT. They bring you the damn steak before they slice it for you and be like, SIR, WILL THIS DO? You will be like uhhhhh damn thats a big ass steak. Its really delicious. BTW all steaks are pretty damn good. I personally always get the Rib Eye because to me it taste like a filet mignon and its like 10x bigger. 4. Sides. Everything is good. Goat mac cheese is rich and delish. The mushrooms are awesome if u like to eat fungus. The sweet potatoe with the crack laced cinnamon buttter OMFG, yes you will gain 10 pounds after dinner. 5. Desserts. Creme Brulee and the Ice creams are good. If you do not order dessert, they will bring u a sample platter of some crack laced walnuts and some truffles. Hopefully you didnt read through all this, if u did, u were probably still thinking to come here or just wondering what else im gonna write. Well DONT THINK!! DOOOOOOO IT!

I would have given this a higher rating, but the service was pretty bad. We had a reservation at 8:00, but didnt get sat until 8:30 even though there were plenty of empty tables. It then took another 30 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were there and everyone working there seemed to be working in slow motion. We had a hard time deciding between a Conn Creek Cabernet or a Stags Leap Petite Syrah, so they sent the sommelier over. He looked to be like 18 and couldn't tell us much of anything about the Syrah, so we ordered the cab. Additionally we ordered oysters rockafeller, a duck confit salad, lobster with asparagus, a 37 day aged New York steak with creamed spinach and a cheesecake. The oysters rockafeller were amazing and were the best Ive ever had. The duck confit salad surprisingly had a TON of duck confit sitting on a romaine leaf with a charred pear garnish. Executed masterfully and was delicious. My girlfriend's lobster was insane. It was an ENTIRE lobster de-shelled and one of the best ever. Her asparagus however was undercooked and not very good. My steak was cooked to my exact specification (in between rare and medium rare), but wasn't very flavorful. Im pretty sure they didnt season it with anything and it came with three steak sauces which I thought was strange. They were a hollandaise sauce that wasnt very good, Charlie Palmer's steak sauce and a garlicky pesto sauce. The steak sauce was pretty good and the creamed spinach was the best ever. The cheesecake was just so-so and the bill was pretty monsterous. Haha.. I'd come back here, but I may order something else and I'd not come super hungry since they take forever.

This was, literally, the best meal that my husband and I have ever had. I had picked up a Living Social or Groupon when we were planning our trip. For $50, we had two tickets to the Escape show and a $50 certificate for dining at GSR. I selected Charlie Palmer. I had the crab stuffed filet mignon and the manfolk had the filet mignon "natural". Each plate was over $50 but it was so worth it. For my sides, I had the lobster bisque and sauteed mushrooms. He had the dinner salad and some type of potato strata. The food was amazing. The service and ambiance was impeccable. It was like watching a finely orchestrated operation. We will definitely be back when we visit Reno next time.

Happy hour 4-7pm Really like their house butchered beef sliders. Oysters were good too. Not a bad deal for $1 each. Crispy Calamari were ... Well not as good. Deep fried and not much of a calamari taste. Friendly staff

I ate at Charlie Palmer Steak tonight, and they were really busy, so I sat at the bar. I had a really light appetite, so I can't comment on the main menu items, but I can certainly comment on the staff, who were excellent. In fact, I have not received better service in a long time. Rob Zurla and Mark Demedina (especially) were attentive, friendly, informative, and helpful in every way. I cannot commend them more. (And, no, I am not related in any way, nor have I ever met them before!!) I was feeling a bit funky when I went out to dinner, but I wound up having a great night, in particular, because of the great service. I always am looking for great food, but I am also looking for excellent service--and I was not disappointed.

Stopped in for a bite before Friday's fights. I've enjoyed many good steaks but this place is definitely one of my top 5 and that's saying a lot. Very tender and juicy and full of flavor. Service was great, food was great, presentation was great. Good start to our weekend trip to Reno. Will visit again.

We can't wait to go back for happy hour... We really enjoyed our experience at Charlie Palmer... We stopped in for happy hour, 4 to 7, everyday.... Most of the food is around 5 bucks, same with drinks, wine, beer, cocktails.... We enjoyed the $1 oysters..... Calamari, tuna.... All seemed fresh and very tasty.... Service by Katie was great.. Atmosphere is good for a nice restaurant... We will be back..

Went for valentines day. We had the anti-pasta app which was good however it went downhill from there. We both had the Caesar salad which was blah except the chip it was in which was delightful. For the main course I had the clams and linguine. The first clam I had had sand in it which means they did not clean them properly. And I never thought I would say this but too many clams and not enough linguine. My husband had the lasagna which was a bit cold. We won't go back there again. The service was just okay as we waited a good 10 minutes before we saw a waiter.

Absolutely horrible experience here for many reasons, and BEWARE FOOD POISING First of all, the service.. We had about three waiters.. and although the place was about half full when we arrived we were seated right in the middle of a crowded area and right next to the waiter station. We asked if we could move and our host literally said "hmm I'm not sure its my first day" and just walked away! So we were stuck in the middle in the spotlight listening to our three waiters conversations about 3 feet away. NOT a romantic environment in the slightest. Next, the food. My girlfriend ordered oysters for the appetizer. You would think at such a fancy and expensive restaurant they would know how to properly open the oysters, but they did not. My girlfriend was disgusted to find numerous bits of shell cracked into her oysters. Additionally I ordered the goat cheese mac-n-cheese and a potato cheese meal. They were actually pretty good though all it was was oil butter and cheese, I suppose I expected something a little bit more even if it is just mac-n-cheese. and finally.. the food poising and GSR's awful customer service About 30 hours after our meal, my girlfriend became violently ill (it was her birthday weekend mind you). I will spare you the details but suffice to say as the time progressed she was unable to get out of bed except to crawl over to the bathroom. Additionally, she developed a strong fever reaching over 103. The fever points to the fact that this was most likely a bacterial infection from something she ate. Any guesses what??? Judging by the 24-48 hour window, and the fact that we ate the same food until the steakhouse leaves only... THE OYSTERS. This lasted two days and I was about to take her to the emergency room when her fever started going away. So naturally, I emailed the GSR about our terrible experience here and warned them about their oysters. I received no reply at all. Next, I posted on their Facebook asking them if they had alerted the kitchen about the potential food poisoning there; they responded and asked me to contact a special email address. Contacted them the next morning. It has been 3 days and still no reply at all. Completely unacceptable. How is this place even remotely respectable?

I have been checking out reviews and menus for years. I finally had a opportunity to go and try some dishes. We had oysters, mussels, french onion soup and scallop with pork belly, then, tuna and lobster for main courses. Yes. it was a nice environment. Service had own leisurely frame of time but it was a good service. A large cut of tuna without any fiber in it, was very unusual now days. I say it was a good cut. French onion soup was a big cup that filled us up. It was made for somebody who just eat a soup, I guess. The flavor of the dishes were good. The lobster was smaller than we expected, maybe because the most of the part was already peeled.

A magical night. For so many reasons. The main was that I was with my favorite person in the world. Here are the others: #1. The table. We were seated at the absolute best table in the house. We were in a comfortable booth facing the entire dining room and the people watching that night was superb. We happened to be seated directly across from a lively bunch of older gentleman and their much, much, younger female companions. To say that the women were dressed provocatively would be an understatement. To say that they were prostitutes, oh wait, I mean "Escorts", would be entirely correct. They were loud, obnoxious, and getting progressively drunker. One of the hookers decided it would be a good idea to let the waiter know that her steak was "gross" and sent it back. Good idea. Yes, be a total 'yotch and complain, and then send your food back with a waiter who already doesn't like you and your drunk table. Smart. #2. Our waiter. Imagine a man who's probably been working in upscale dining his entire working career. Old school is a good description. A truly solid professional who while didn't "Sparkle" or exude "Pazazz", was still great the whole night. He just seemed so damn cool and laid back that I wanted to know about him and maybe to hear him tell us some stories about growing up in Brooklyn. Or about how one day the kids from the neighborhood, carried his Mom's groceries all the way home. Do you why they did that? Out of respect. Are you getting the picture on what kind of guy we're talking about? Let's just say you wouldn't want to upset him. #3. The food. The lobster bisque was a lick the bowl kind of deal. It was that good. We only wished the temperature had been a little higher but still a fabulous soup. I would absolutely order it again. After the soup, it was the salad course. I had the wedge which was really tasty. Nice bacon, not too much dressing, just right. My Girl had the beet salad. She loves beets. All kinds of beets. I tried some, and while I'll probably never be a champion of the beet, it wasn't bad. For our meat eating enjoyment, I got the Porterhouse, medium rare, and she ordered the Filet the same. Her filet actually did melt-in-your-mouth. I thought that only happened with Kobe but apparently not. My porterhouse, just like every time I've been to CP, was cooked perfectly. A truly high quality piece of meat that was flavorful, marbled, and just the right amount of salty. I ordered the CP fries as my side and loved them. Hot and crispy and served with a nice and spicy aioli. The au gratin potatoes weren't too shabby either. As a finisher we shared Creme Brulee and it was a really good version that was a perfect and light ending to the meal. We were both thoroughly stuffed and satisfied. Summary: CP is a favorite of mine in Reno. I think they serve high quality meats with great accompaniments and the staff is always friendly and highly competent. The prices are also very competitive and unlike most high end steakhouses, which are usually ala carte, CP gives you a side dish with your steak. I love the design and the layout as well. Romantic, indeed. We will of course be back.

Came here when I stayed at the Grand Sierra Resort. I had pasta Bolognese. I see that another reviewer didn't enjoy it. I must admit confusion, because mine was really quite good. The noodles were homemade, something I rarely ever see. The sauce was good with the right amount of sweetness and although I initially had decided not to get meatballs, after a friend let me try one of his I had to get them. Probably some of the best restaurant meatballs I've had. I don't like the ones that are spiced to taste like italian sausage (I don't like sausage), so these were perfect. The free bread at the beginning of the meal was good, especially when oil and balsamic vinegar were provided with it. No idea what the desserts are like because I sure didn't have any room left. Everyone else who ate with me seems to like their food fine, if I had to find something to complain about I guess maybe it's a little pricey, but not wildly so. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's hard for me to see what someone wouldn't like about Briscola, unless maybe they were low on cash. It's a pretty safe bet if you love italian.

I only agree to go out for steak if it is a really high end steakhouse because my husband is the master of grilling anything meat. I was horribly disappointed starting with the caesar salad. Mayonnaise would have been a refreshing upgrade to this recipe. I am guessing it was an off night because I love Charlie Palmer restaurants. Maybe something was missing from the recipe? Ambiance was fine (for a casino restaurant).

Not worth your time. There are plenty of other steak houses in town that offer better food and more reasonable wine prices. Most of the wine by the bottle was 3x retail and their wine list wasn't really all that great, probably because you would have had to take a mortgage out to get a great bottle of wine. The steak was tough, the house salad was just lettuce, a couple of sliced grape tomato's, a couple of onion rings and some bland dressing. The mushrooms and potato ordered as side dishes were fair at best. I won't drop any names, but I can think of half a dozen other steak houses I've been to lately that are much better. Disappointing.

I ate here two nights in a row only because it's right in the hotel I was staying at for a conference I was attending. The first night my little group ate in the lounge area and the second night was in the restaurant area. It was really two different experiences. The menu is the same but the service in the lounge is a little laid back. The service in the restaurant is pretty formal with all implies. Multiple waiters and waitresses, etc. There was a great special on the first Saturday - filet mignon for $12.95 - and the whole meal was about $23 and change (since I don't drink). The second night...no such luck. The prices were quite high but the service was good and the food is delicious. Great atmosphere. Convenient to the hotel. If you like steak...this is the place.

I really enjoyed the whole experience at Charlie Palmer Steak! Thoughtful service and excellent food. We had the tomato mozzarella salad, the NY strip with the lobster side, the ribeye and mixed mushrooms and the potato gratin as sides. They also brought out some "fancy" fries for the kid. Finally, we closed out the experience with the assorted sorbet and ice cream.... They also have a nice wine list with a focus on California selections... Everything was scrumptious....definitely a great place for special occasions, or if you are rich, I guess you can treat this place as a favorite neighborhood steak joint!

Gus had been here this past December and had a great experience with both service and food. So he chose to come here for his birthday dinner. I made the reservation for seven thirty and did so with their on line service. When I was finished it stated they will get back to me soon. Well more than a week passed and no contacted so I had Gus call to check on it. He did and got Las Vegas and requested a change to seven pm and a table. This time we got a confirmation with in minutes. We arrived and were seated at a booth; I hate booths but kept my mouth shut and sat there. We were greeted by a waiter who asked if we wanted a cocktail of which we did not at that moment. Then another waiter brought the menus with a special menu for the night and spoke a bit and then told us to place out menus on the table when we were ready to order. So that is what we did and he came to take the order. Gus and I had the duck confit salad; neither of us really liked it as the duck was rather toothy and somewhat bitter. The pear was good. My sis ordered a salad with beet I believe and she said it was truly awful. Both Gus and sis ordered the filet and parmapotato both cooked as requested. I ordered the Kansas style ribeye and mushrooms. Well my steak was beyond salty and I did have my sis taste it to make sure I was not just imagining it. She agreed so when the head dude came by to see how our first bite was I mentioned the salt level. He and I will say right now all the employees did their very best to accommodate. He brought out a new steak and it was cooked as I requested and I assume no seasoning at all on it as this is how it tasted. He also brought out some asparagus as a kindness for the first steak. Oh and my mushrooms were wholly unremarkable. Gus was shocked at the difference of his first meal and this one, he had the srooms the first go around and he said they had a wonderful variety in the bowl. Tonight looked like button and shitake cooked dry. I can do better at home with very little effort. Even though I said each employee was accommodating for me there are just too many different folks showing up at my table and it becomes more of an intrusion than service. I also found it odd that when seated one of the waiters looked at the table and asked if it were we three or will it be four. I know why he asked; there were four place settings on the table and we did say three. The extra place setting was not removed until the end of the meal, just odd. Each waiter/bus person was friendly and omnipresent but there is no elegance to it, but then I guess when the other guests show up wearing caps and cowboy hats through out the whole meal I guess elegance sorta seems moot. I want everything in life to be special for my guy and tonight just did not fit that description.

CPS has awesome steaks of course and a surprisingly great selection of seafood for a resort restaurant more than 200 miles inland from the ocean. We've eaten regularly since '09, and the food as well as the service is always excellent. The bar has the best scotch and finer tequilas available and the bartenders are not stingy on the pours. The Kansas City rib-eye is amazing! The pheasant, while small, is tender and so tasty! The Citrus Salmon (order w/out the bread wrap) or Ahi-Tuna (sashimi grade 6oz) steaks are delicious! Don't forget to order the Crème brûlée--two flavors (vanilla & coffee) that come in separate large dishes for a low price of one! For a restaurant in Reno, CPS is a surprise and a welcome step-up from the Reno-of-old.

You should DEFINITELY come here during the GSR first Friday of each month to get their high-end delicious food for extremely low prices. I was really impressed with all the food! Really complex flavors in everything from their bread, to sauces, to entrees. You can really tell that the chef has had high-end training. I'm definitely going to eat there again. And, surprisingly enough, I don't even eat steak. Their vegetables and fish are cooked to perfection and extremely flavorful. I had no idea grilled veggies could taste so good. Atmosphere-wise, I really HATE going to casinos to eat, but my mom wanted try this place. I was really impressed that once you go in the restaurant, it's isolated from the casino noise. Very quiet, and they have really nice decor with high-seated booths that give you a lot of privacy. Perfect for a romantic date!

I had dinner here on the night of November 21, 2009. I must say, this place and the food are impressive. I ordered a petite steak and the thing must have weighed 3 pounds. I'm not kidding, it was huge. A friend of mine ordered the Spencer Steak (Rib Eye) and when it made it to the table, his eyes got real big and he told the server "hey, I ordered the Rib Eye, not the teradactyl leg." Anyway, this is a great place to eat if you have two things: 1. A huge apatite. 2. $$$, cause it ain't cheap.

Eight of us walked into this place for dinner on Saturday night. Even it was almost empty, they said they ran out of the French bread! Fine. So we ordered the overly priced entrees, mostly over $25 per entree. I had the salmon pasta special. When the food comes, the waiter put my plate in front me without telling me it was super hot. No, it wasn't just hot, super hot. Well, after I touched it and complained, he confirmed that it was very hot. Isn't it too late? Small stuff, no big deal. Then the food, the pasta is doughy, hardly any flavor, but with some heavy sauce. As for salmon? It's like they collected some leftovers from a cutting board. I probably only can get one table spoon full if I pick them out and put them together. Then the horror: I found something in my mouth, like a string, mixed with the pasta, I didn't want to look at it, and spilled it out, I hate to say it's hair, but something like that. The waiter came back, offered to make me another order to replace that one. Sure, I don't think I want to touch that one any more. When I was talking to my friend, still working on my plate, my plate was taken away, when I looked at her puzzled, she asked "are you finished?" Isn't it too late to ask after you take away my plate? I am like, I am done with this place, go ahead, take it away. Then the bill comes, with service fee automatically added, without drinks, come to $280+. What a rip off! They didn't even offer to give any discount on my "stringed" pasta, and even charged service fee on that!!! Brilliant! I know you go to a sin city not for fine dining, so you should put your money in the slot machine instead of this over priced place. You are warned.

Service was excellent and the food tasted great! Oysters were fresh, my steak was cooked just the way I requested. I forgot I was in reno while dining here-- very mellow and relaxed atmosphere. It is more dressy than the other eateries but it's a really nice restaurant. Is a little pricey, standard steak house prices.

Visited the restaurant again with a big group (10); my steak was done to my request (medium rare) but again...it just wasn't that tasty. I really expect more from this place. The sauteed mushrooms were better the last time; they were a little overdone and it looked like they shortchanged me on the mushrooms......the potato gratin was really tasty though. Had the Bread Pudding...and i have to say it was probably the least tasty bread pudding i've ever had. It was gummy and had a weird texture and bland taste All in all, an overpriced meal- $1160 for 10 people (including 3 bottles of wine). Disappointing. Maybe I'm just not a Charlie Palmer fan. His Dry Creek Kitchen is equally awful

Booked on Opentable for the 1000 points despite the mixed reviews. The most outstanding dish was the pureed potatoes, not a good thing for a steakhouse. Service was attentive but a little bit awkward. Daily Special Salad ($16): greens, cheese, strawberry & shrimp - one of the better dishes. They don't charge to split dishes and chef was nice enough to give us an extra shrimp so that we would have equal amounts. Pork Chop with Peaches ($34): the waitress said it was a good choice and very tasty. I would have to disagree. There was no flavor to the pork, I had to really try and dip it as much as possible in the sauce but it didn't help enough. I could have done without the peaches. Ahi Tuna ($34): told it was dusted with some spice asked for it to be light, still spicy. This dish and the pork had very similar seasoning that was just boring. Grilled veggies ($7): also boring and under seasoned Pureed potatoes ($7): got this instead of the twice baked because that is pre-prepared with bacon and my other half doesn't eat pork. This was the best dish of the night. Great flavor, only dish I finished. Skipped out on dessert because the meal was just mediocre. The restaurant provides a little dessert trio anyways which was just enough. They also give a little food gift to ladies. Nice gesture but I would rather have them concentrate on my entrees before trying to woo me at the end of the meal. I really like staying at Grand Sierra when I'm passing through Reno, but unfortunately I won't be back to Charlie Palmer unless they start getting consistent rave reviews on yelp that shows that they've turned the tide on their foods flavor. Maybe I should have just gotten steak, but everything should be fabulously tasty not just their steak.

I love this restaurant! One of my faves. Sad part for me is it is so far from me. But I will make a vacation to Reno just to eat here. I always get the salmon with fries as my side (I eat mostly a vegan diet but sometimes will have salmon. This one is worth breaking my vegan diet for every once in awhile.) I love their citrus dressing for their salads. My husband always gets the Petite New York steak. He loves it. Their cheesecake is the best! Sadly I cannot eat dairy anymore so I have to opt out of the cheesecake from now on. But definitely try it of you can eat dairy.

This place was very good. One thing is I am a huge fan of oysters and to get $1.00 for happy hour was good as well as the lobster rolls too on the apetizers so the prices were cheap. The restaurant was great too. I ordered the venson, deer and it was very good and the Kansas steak was excellent. The prices were not too bad for a high end restaurant, but definitely worth it. I wanted to have dessert but was too full to have it.

This was our first time here. My boyfriend made reservations to Briscola for our 8th anniversary dinner. He requested for something special for our anniversary. We arrived a little early and was seated right away. We were seated closed to the kitchen in a booth. The lighting inside the restaurant had a romantic feeling. I liked it right away. We had two severs ( I guess one of them was the main server and the other was assistant server) One of the server came by and recommended the special (Grilled mahi mahi with tomatoes in lobster broth) in which what I ended up getting. My boyfriend ordered the Tuna duo which was grilled tuna and tuna ravioli. The server suggested that he should have gone with the special that I was getting. We got fried calamari to shared. Warm bread came out with vinegar and oil as dipping sauce. Then along came out our perfectly fried calamari. After we finished our appetizers. The surprise (Remember I mentioned about my boyfriend requested something special to be done for our anniversary) Well, The chef himself came out and introduced himself and brought out a special little dish (Grilled Pork belly with berry sauce and blood oranges) Maybe that why we were seated close to the kitchen! That made the night really special to have the chef come and bring a special dish prepared for our anniversary! =) Our main course had arrived and mine was super delicious! My boyfriend regretted not listening to our waiter suggesting him to get the special! After our main course was done. We both ordered different desserts. I had the the chocolate coffee bombe which was really good, My boyfriend had the vanilla cheesecake which melts in your mouth! I had a voucher for 2-1 entree, after that the billed came out $55 which was not bad! I was so satisfied with the meal that we left a 20% tip! Thanks for making our anniversary a very special one!

Overpriced. Steaks were over seasoned. Meat entrees do not come with any sides. Salad and sides are extra. There was a loud, boisterous drunk in a neighboring booth who was not removed by security. His behavior was excused by management because it was his birthday. One drunk ruined a reunion of friends who had not seen each other in decades. If you're looking for a great meal that's worth the money, dine at the neighboring Care Sierra.

My husband, myself & another couple came here to partake in happy hour. We ordered the calamari, oysters (like 30 of them since they were $1/ea), the tuna tartar, and lobster rolls. Everything was really good and the discounted drinks were awesome too (we only had beer). The place is really classy and our waitress was awesome - she even pointed out that getting the entire bottle of Chimay beer was only $12 (which pours more then two glasses anyway) when it was $9/glass so she save us some moola along the way :) Not to mention happy hour was from 4p-7p. We will definitely head back there when we come to stay at GSR!

underwhelmed. right to it. walked in on a monday night. seated right away. service was surprisingly good. i wouldnt say tfl good, but fine dining in reno... it was just fine...actually great. our waiters were great. the decor? pleasantly surprised again. as a tourist in reno, this a very welcomed change. as a contractor, well, not bad. now the important part. seared foie gras. a slimy pasty mess. bad. salad. well salad, sides and asparagus were good... but the steak? well, my kansas city ribeye, aka cowboy aka bone in ribeye was cooked very well, but it just was lacking in flavor. i liked the different sauces accompanying the steak, but come on, steak at this level, you shouldnt need sauces to make your steak taste good. ive had my fair share of steaks from all sorts of places. i am not one to shy away from any type of steak houses from the most high end to the tuesday night random dinner. this steak at charlie palmer steak in reno nevada was a bit lacking. call it a bit gimmicky but i liked the french onion soup. though it was lacking a bit in body, the puff pastry cover was fun and a nice change for me. the complimentary small bite dessert was a very nice touch. would i got back? probably. its a very nice venue. its inside what i would consider to be my new go to hotel in reno. maybe this is a very unfair first try review. maybe i had way too high expectations for my first charlie palmer experience.... but yeah. i will try it again probably, just no big rush.

3 1/2 stars Place is nice, service is good...food is ok -Seared Foie Gras-it was yummy, but the pineapple cake is kind of random. Didn't match the flavors -Cajun Crusted Beef Carpaccio-Don't taste any cajun flavor to this. Needs alot more flavor. -Special: Scallops with vegetables-this was my fave dish. Cooked to perfection and the vegetables were really tasty with the sauce. -Cripsy Striped Bass-fish was cooked right and well seasoned. The artichokes didn't go well with the bass. -Mustard Crusted Berkshire Porkchop-good flavor, but was dry -Special: Cajun Ribeye-NO cajun flavor what so ever and it was covered with red wine sauce. That's all you can taste. They gave 4 sauces to go with the steak, but it didn't taste good at all because of all the red wine sauce on top of the steak already. Sides: Assorted Mushrooms-good, but there was only button mushrooms....the menu says ASSORTED Creamed Spinach-really liked this dish Parmesan Potato Gratin-good too.

Food was great. Highly recommend the Rib Eye. We were however disappointed in the lobster corn dogs they were doughy and we did point this out to our server and were a bit disappointed that he didn't offer to take it off our bill but we didn't make a big deal out of it. Everything else was fantastic and I would highly recommend the restaurant.

Pappardelle with rabbit is one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had-tasted like dark meat turkey in light gravy with just a hint of sweetness from apircots. Amazing! The salmon special-great sized portion, mussels were amazing, salmon a touch overdone for my taste (I like mine a little on the rare side), sauce was a spicy tomato- had a lot of oil that separated from sauce-this is my only real critisism. Pork piccata, bread and fried, nice portion size, not a traditional type piccata.....lacked sauce. There was just a touch of piccata sauce, needed way more.

Charlie Palmer Steak redefines American cuisine with big, bold taste that fuses creative cooking with French delicacy. The kitchen offers an exquisite menu; however, special requests of cocktails and hors d'oeuvre can be served. The setting is contemporary, with a hint of rustic romance. The Kansas City Rib eye is a 52 day, dry aged, mouth watering indulgence. The cut is well marbled with juices literally gushing out with each slice. This was the best cut of meat I've had a pleasure of experiencing in a long time. I chose the Potato Gratin and Assorted Mushroom for my sides. The buttery Potato classic dish was redefined by fusing it with Parmesan and drizzled with cream. This rustic dish was prepared surprisingly quick considering the time it can take doing so at home. The assorted mushrooms were a joy due to the different origins and varieties of mushrooms used, but the dish itself lacked any taste defining flavor. The crispy Pork belly was sweet, tender, and prepared well. It was a bit lacking in zest, which perhaps a bit of lemon, fennel seeds, or caramelized vinegar could add. The dish itself also lacked that extra bit of crisp which is defined by its name. The setting was very modern, a bit crowded, and classy. The low lighting and flickers from the candles and fires from the kitchen added a cozy and romantic feel. The service was pleasant, but lacking to what you should expect from an elegant dining experience. I want to know why I should order the special, not simply know what it is. The quality of my food should be asked prior to almost finishing it. The little things that make you stand above the rest just weren't there. The service could use some improvement, but man... they serve one mean cut of meat.

The food itself is 4 stars but the service really knocked it down to 3. After a day of eating ribs, we wanted to go to the buffet but they were closing at 930 and had only a half an hour to eat before they started clearing the food away. A buffet that closes at 930??? Well...........we ended up here. We went bowling for dinner. That was such an exciting game when you have something on the line. We won so the food was going to be for free!!!! hhahhah Rack of lambs.......i thought was very well cooked and seasoned to perfection. Fresh salmon with belini.......very refreshing and light ceasar salad.....nothing special foie gras........average bacon wrapped pork....a little dry and overcooked mac and cheese ......excellent onion soup...........very good. it has a nice pastry puff with cheese garlicky brocolli........very good steak...........cooked really well. bread pudding ......it was amazing complimentary dark chocolate truffles Service was very slow, had to ask for water multiple times, took forever to clear the plates. For being a fine dining restaurant and the price, I expected a lot better. So..........I can see how this place can get 5 stars and how this place can get 1 stars..............overall a 3 star restaurant.

We went to Charlie Palmer's last Friday night to celebrate my hubby's birthday. Being from SoCal, I'm familiar with CP's restaurants so I was really excited. I think, first off, with a different location, this restaurant would have a totally different vibe. But, being on the main floor of the GSR, anyone can walk in. And, though they aren't cheap, they aren't so pricey that someone who is up a few Benjamins wouldn't splurge. On a Friday night, we saw plenty of people in jeans and T-shirts and I even saw a woman leaving pushing a stroller! I have kids....we had a sitter. I would never have brought my young kids to a place like this, but to each their own. Our server was quite a bit older than us and I sensed and air of superiority from him right away. My husband ordered a beer because that's what he likes. An older couple next to us were sharing a bottle of wine...he definitely treated them differently. I ordered the lobster tail and filet and the hubby ordered the sirloin with blue cheese. We each ordered 2 sides, which was too much but we wanted to try a few things so we ended up wasting some food. The tide with our server changed after a series of events...first, we noticed a large ring on the table from the hubby's beer. He didn't spill and it wasn't a ring from moisture - it was beer. It took 3 times of asking before he got a refill. Then, my Medium Rare filet came out and was less than an inch high...and only had a hint of pink inside. I had asked for the wine reduction on the side which wasn't on the side. So, I ate my lobster and shared this with the server. We talked about how the beer must have had a crack in the glass and that my steak was definitely not medium rare. He redeemed himself by swiftly correcting my steak and even bringing out asparagus (which was the choice I wasn't sure on between that and the spinach). At the end, he even brought out a dessert for my hubby. There were several "errors", but overall, they did remedy everything pretty well. It was definitely a good dinner, but not quite Ruth's Chris.

I had two hours to spare while my daughter hung out with her grandma. I decided to leave the room and take myself on a hot date. I was immediately seated at the bar. The bartender was very friendly, personable, and best of all he was knowledgeable about the menus. He helped me decide on the Filet, which was disappointing. It was perfectly cooked medium rare, but the flavor and the tenderness wasn't there. The sweet potato fries on top were hardly warm and the broccolini was borrring. I was expecting something more sexy and mind blowing. Although the entrée was a let down, the wine was excellent and the tiramisu was a pleasant surprise. It's a nontraditional tiramisu...you dip the ladyfingers in the heavenly frangelico espresso creamy deliciousness. While I was expecting to pay $60, I was also expecting more flavor. It's not often single moms get to treat ourself to a sexy dinner. Next time I will just come for antipasti and dessert.

I would have given the place 5 stars, but I just did not appreciate the service that I received here. Now, this is a pretty upscale restaurant. My boyfriend and I came here for our 6 year anniversary dinner, and spent $180 on dinner for the two of us, including tip. But that did not include any appetizers. Just two entrees, and two sides. Mind you, we both did get the most expensive entrees on the menu. I had the "1.5lb" stuffed crab ( quoted because although good, I don't believe that was a 1.5 pounder), and my boyfriend had the steak and lobster, and upgraded his steak to the better one. Can't remember off the top of my head which steak he got. Our two sides were the baked potato and the CP fries. Don't get me wrong here, the food was d e l i c i o u s!! The lobster, although deceivingly smaller than expected, was cooked so well. The tail is taken out and put on top of the shell, and they even take out the claw meet as well. They also grind up the rest of the lobster and put it into a lobster stuffing made with ritz crackers. Very simple stuffing, but soooooo damn good. I also had a bite of my bf's steak. Medium rare, mmm cooked so well too. Seasoned very well, and the nice thing about it is that they give you 3 different sauces to eat your steak with. So.. why only 4 stars you may ask, well the service here was not to par. Especially with the supposed class and quality of the restaurant. The thing that pisses me off the most is that, I think they only served us so bad because we're young. I fn' hate when stuff like this happens. I mean, we're customers too, just because we're young doesn't mean that we can't afford to have dinner here. Pssssh, pisses me off. The bus boy was a lot more accommodating than our 2 servers. It always makes me think, like you are serving us. YOU are the ones who are working here, WE are the ones who are eating here. I just wish we were treated with respect and not discriminated on because of how young we may have looked to them. It really irritates me because, I watched our servers, and I saw them constantly being nice and helpful to all the other guests except for us. Errrr. I hope you can feel my frustration. Anyways, although we had bad service, I do recommend this restaurant because the food here is great. You'll feel like you're eating a dish right off of Top Chef on Bravo. But, be ready to spend some $$$ here because the prices are way above and beyond. I also recommend making reservations. We went on a Wednesday night and we had reservations just in case the night before, and it was surprisingly busy on a weeknight, so just in case.

The steak here is GOOD. Ordered the New York Strip, and the T-bone steak. I must say, their steak is well grilled, and quite tasty. The pieces are pretty big too! (I'm comparing this to Alexander's Steakhouse) We also ordered a side of yukon gold puree and grilled vegetables. You can do without the grilled vegetables, they were pretty gross. The only reason this place does not get a full 5 stars is because their service is terrible. Slow, and our waitress was unattentive (is that a word..) . I read reviews on here warning me, but I thought since I came on a Monday I thought things wouldn't be as bad. But no, they were.

Absolutely amazed by the impeccable food and phenomenal service!!! This is my first review, and I normally don't take the time to give feedback, however this experience could not go unrecognized! Our server La Shay quickly came over and greeted us. She shared what's the special and then provided us with and her personal favorites after discovering what we were in the mood for. Her support staff Jared and Natasha also stayed close by ensuring our drinks were refilled and removed our finished plates promptly. For starters La Shay highly recommended: The Artisan Cheeses which included buffalo mozzarella/ pecorino romano/robiola/gorgonzola parmigiano reggiano also served with grapes, slices of red apple and grilled bread. And the Antipasta Platter which included slices of prosciutto, salami, soppressata, marinated mushroom, olives, roasted peppers and fig sauce* This combo I must say set the tone for the remainder of our meal!! Decadent flavor and overall presentation was the initial impression of our appetizers. When we proceeded to order our entrees, I was already aticipating to have the seafood pasta ( black spaghetti pasta topped with shrimp, scallop, mussels, clams, and roasted fennel served with a spicy lobster broth) and with another recommendation from La Shay we also ordered the Roasted mushroom agnolotti and added shrimp ( "Little envelope" pasta stuffed with roasted mushrooms and ricotta serfed with a parmesan cream and white truffle oil) with a side of grilled three cheese asparagus. We were astonished with the amount of flavor in each bite!!! The end of the meal was the perfect way to wrap up the total experience... the highly recommended vanilla panna cotta was by far the highlight of the night (thanks La Shay!). I would highly recommend this Italian destination and their service to any of my friends or family... Enjoy!!!

You'd think a mediocre meal would get about 3 out of 5 stars, but Yelp describes 3 stars as a=ok and 2 as "meh,I've experienced better" so 2 stars. First let me say the ambience was nice and the service was attentive, maybe a little over attentive. The food came out in a reasonable time. There was only one other table being served when we arrived so I can't say how fast the service would be when the place is busy. The food......we shared a salad and their Bolognese with a side of meatballs. The salad was a bit soggy and kind of bland. The spaghetti was plentiful with almost too much meat....opps on the side order of meatballs. The Bolognese was thick spaghetti with way too much meat and over sauced with a thick red gravey, I would call it "gloppy". The meal was bland and not very flavorful which is kinda sad for Italian food. So, 2 stars for the food. Food is king, so no upgrade for the good service and ambience.

The food was fantastic. Although the menu didn't cater to children, the chef brought out a complimentary basket of garlic fries . The children loved the goat Mac n cheese. The bleu cheese crusted sirloin was phenomenal... Although we had no room for dessert, our server brought out a platter of sweet treats which again was complimentary. Will definitely return to Charlie Palmer.

I was surprised Charlie Palmer would extend his brand name to Reno Nevada of all places. Curiosity killed the cat. Entree: The steak was great, just slightly overcooked on the outside. I asked for a medium rare, and I received a mediumish rare. Sides: Here is where Palmer really shines. The goat cheese mac & cheese is killer. SUPER RICH, and I suggest splitting it 2-3 ways. If you dare eat one on your own, I suggest you schedule a quadruple bypass surgery the next day. The spinach was great, 4 stars. The twiced baked potato...f'in awesome! Again, super hearty & rich. Our service was awesome. A tip for yelpers, although there is a $25 corkage fee, if you order one of their bottles, the fee is waived. 2 for the price of 1. Sort of.

Bad Experience Marginal service (Pxxxxxx), marginal preparation, good ambiance. Ordered house salad with ranch dressing, it was prepared standard (with oil). Poor wine recommendation (can deal with that but, at $14 for the glass and server wasn't back to see if the recommendation was a good one...would have asked for a different one if someone had come back). Ordered NY Strip, was brought a tiny filet...sent back (they let us know that they already had another NY on for another table that they'd be able to get to me on the fly). Only problem, I had ordered the aged organic NY strip ($45 version on the featured menu) and it appeared that I was served the same steak (dressed the same with a single scallion on top) as a neighboring table who specifically ordered the standard NY Strip. Wife ordered the Kobe Steak duo (medium). The smaller of the duo was good! The larger of the 2 cuts was medium in the middle but burnt to hell on the outside (putting a sauce over the top of a burnt steak doesn't hide the fact it's burnt). When we'd brought it to our server's attention, he agreed it looked burnt and he said he'd be happy to offer us free dessert (not sure it was a fair swap when we order a $58 Kobe beef dish and more than 1/2 of it was inedible)(we came to a pricey steakhouse for steak not dessert). We ordered desserts TO GO so of course they came out on dressed plates. We asked them to be boxed up to go and the hot apple fritters were placed in a plastic container with the peanut butter cup mouse cake (nice melty mess)... Best part of the dinner was the twice baked potato (not good for a Steakhouse). Recommendations: Staff needs to get on the same page. In everyone's efforts to help each other out, error after error was made with our table (compounds the aggravation). Attentive doesn't always = 'good' service...if you can't take down and complete an order, it's bad service. Kitchen and servers need to get on the same page. Thought it was just a poor server but, the fact that our $58 Kobe steak plate was badly burnt, leads us to believe that the issues run deeper than just a poor server. This is supposed to be a premier Steakhouse. The ambiance says it is but, the service and food confirms that it's not. We will not be back. Would not recommend.

This was my third time at Briscola and it once again completely exceeded my expectations. Our group of seven sat in the back room which sinks down below the main dining level and has an inviting atmosphere with its dark leather chairs and banquettes and white brick. We brought in two bottles of wine and they waived the corkage fee when we ordered two bottles of Proseco. We started with the Antipasto platter - proscuitto, spicy copa, salami, marinated button mushrooms, red pepper salad and olives - and the Artisan Cheese platter. Delicious. Next we all had the special appetizer for the night - mixed greens with a Romesco dressing with a crostini topped with a goat cheese and olive tapenade. For our main course, my date and I split the Pappardelle pasta with braised rabbit, mustard fruits and pecorino. The pasta - which is all fresh, house-made - was perfectly done. Really a delicious and different dish. We also shared the ribeye and a side of whipped potatoes. The ribeye was perfectly done, smokey and flavorful with a pamigiano and garlic crust. The steak itself was so flavorful I didn't feel it need the cheese, but it was delicious just the same. Bites of our tablemates' dishes proved that the menu was chock full of delectable items - a buttery filet, a tasty New York steak, a creamy agnolotti with mushroom and truffled parmigiano cream sauce, incredibly tasty brussels sprouts roasted with pancetta and onion. The only thing that wasn't out of the park tasty was the polenta fries which could have been a bit crispier and were a tad bland - but then again, it's polenta... For dessert our table shared the vanilla bean panna cotta with carmelized apples and pears and a raisin puree and a cheesecake with blueberry compote. The panna cotta was divinely creamy and the raisin puree was unexpected and really tasty. The cheesecake was like velvet. A perfect ending to an amazing meal. The service was impeccable - our team (I lost count, three or four?) was attentive without hovering. We were never wanting for anything but were also left to just enjoy eachother's company without unneeded interruptions. If you're looking for a special night out, consider Briscola.

I love this place! I've been here probably a half dozen times or so and each time blows my mind. I normally get either the ribeye or one of the specials depending on my mood and Charlie's never dissapoints. The grilled asparagus is really good as well as the oysters. They have a green sauce for the steak that is to die for. I try to go to Charlie's once every time I go to Reno.

This place caused quite a headache - I simply could not choose what I wanted because it all looked so good! I settled on the rib eye while others in my party were split between the NY and prime cuts. Foie gras was delicious, as were the mushroom appetizers. Everything went well and we all had a good time. The bill came to just over $700 for the six of us (including two bottles of wine), which was expensive for Reno, but fair for what they offered. I will definitely return to Charles Palmer in the future.

I've gotten great service from the manager, but was rather disappointed in the food. The first time I went I got the spinach appetizer along with the ossobuco upon recommendations from the bartender. The appetizer was overcooked and way too salty. I really couldn't finish it and I go nuts over well-prepared veggies. I try hard not to waste them. The ossobuco was an extremely thick piece of meat, but largely flavorless and a bit oily. The polenta that came with it was so unbelieveably oily I couldn't finish a quarter of it. I tried again later and had the same thing happen. I have no problem with oily food generally (though I don't eat a lot in one sitting), but this was horribly excessive, inedible. I've eaten the Porkinator at the Rib Cook Off. It took 3 days and 5 sittings, but I was willing to eat that just to try to give some perspective. After issues with this first meal, Johnnie, the manager offered me a free meal to replace it and a dessert then and there. I declined on the dessert because I was full and avoid desserts these days, but did want to give the place another chance because it seemed like it ought to be a great restaurant and I thought maybe it was a fluke day, fluke cook or fluke dish. I went back a couple months later (traveling, busy, then had a chance to stop by) and got a replacement dish, the spignoli which was really just a ravioli. The sauce was interesting, a light cream, but not particularly flavorful. The raviolis (I'll just call them like I see them) were undercooked on the edges (way harder and chewier than al dente) and the centers had no oil so it was like they were filled with dried nuts and spinach (or whatever it was). I was told it was their signature dish too. I had considered something else and deferred to their recommendations on it. I've had a decent amount of Italian food, good, high quality, Italian food and was questioning my own palette after my experiences. But thinking back to Roxy's and pretty much any other food experience I'm certain. This place just doesn't prepare food that's that good, particularly for takeout (but still consumed soon after purchase so temperature would be appropriate). The spinach replacement that I got (and didn't ask for, Johnnie just remembered) was better this time, not too salty and not overcooked. The dish itself is okay and I think would be better if mixed with something else to create more balance. I found it too oily and a little eccentric in tastes to be great on it's own. Heck, it'd probably be really good just on bread. Johnnie wanted me to go back and tell him what I thought of the food, but I almost don't have the heart to do it. I don't want to do it for another free meal and I almost feel like a whiny, impossible to please customer that I was unhappy with another of their dishes. But, really I'm pretty disappointed. The entrees that I had were like 24/25 dollars and were definitely not worth it. I hate to quit on good management, good intentions and a strong genuine interest in pleasing me as a customer, but I think that's what I'm going to do. Food at this price should simply be prepared better and have more complexity and subtlety of flavor. I think they need a skilled food taster to get them back on track based on my own experience and other reviews.

Ok where to begin with this place...the ambiance is ok, it looks like you're in a cave. Its classy and comfy. They accommodated a big group of us which was awesome. There were lots of service staff. Way too many for the small space. My first thought after looking at the menu was "their ads say they're affordable, what's affordable about 27$ plates." I don't mind paying for quality food so I figured I'd give it a try. I got the salmon with butternut squash gnocchi, my fiancé got chicken with spinach, two friends got the pasta with shrimp. My gnocchi was dense and not rich in flavor. It was gummy. The salmon was crunchy and overcooked. Flavorless. My fiancées chicken was lacking in flavor, and the spinach was really salty. My friends with the pasta unanimously agreed it tasted off. One even sent it back. another friend had fettucini alfredo and it was pretty oily. Overall I thought it was bad for the price. It was unanimous that food was sub par. Sorry guys. I wouldn't recommend it. Go to la strada at Eldorado instead. There you really get quality food.

I wasn't expecting to find a place like this in Reno. Not to clown but this place looked more like it would be in Vegas and I mean that as a compliment! Ambiance was excellent, food was very good and service was top notch. Interior decor was very modern with nice touches. Menu was a bit pricey but well worth it.

I had the Alaskan Halibut which was served with a Couscous salad and shredded Romaine lettuce salad, and the "Garlicky Broccoli" side dish. The fish was juicy and the light crust was wonderful and the Couscous salad with cucumber and pear tomatoes was quite tasty, but the shredded lettuce salad was rather soggy and underwhelming. The broccoli was quite good and cooked to perfection. While I enjoyed most of the food the service was not what I expected. I waited over 15 minutes for my food, was not offered a drink refill until my glass had been empty for several minutes, and then had to ask for my check after having enough time to sip on a glass of water and empty it while sitting at an otherwise empty space at the bar. Service like that is never acceptable, but considering there were only a maximum of 10 patrons at a time and 5 visible employees this was quite unexpected. As others have mentioned, I agree that the pricing is too expensive for what you get. Like so many other places in Reno this restaurant has wonderful food but substandard service.

Great, attentive service. I had the filet, it was awesome. Don't skip out on the goat cheese mac and cheese. The creamed spinach is also really good. Nice atmosphere but you can still go in jeans and not stick out like a sore thumb. Priced on the higher side for Reno, but not for other Charlie Palmer restaurants. Get there early and have a glass of wine (or four) at The Reserve located right outside the entrance.

We made the mistake of coming here for New Year's Eve with another couple. We had made reservations and were seated promptly, served our champagne promptly and from there it went down the toilet... We ordered the following... 1. Seafood Platter...excellent seafood, though the oysters were shucked a bit sloppily (not a fan of shells) and the sauces were lovely 2. For my husband, a blue cheese crusted top sirloin, medium rare that arrived at the table as a medium petite filet. 3. For myself, a medium rare petite filet which was very close to perfectly cooked. 4. For the other lady, salmon which was served en croute, over-cooked and with the bread burnt (we all somehow missed that it was served en croute). 5. For the other gentleman, a blue cheese crusted top sirloin rare that arrived medium well. 6. For the table, asparagus that were floppy and flavorless and a twice-baked potato that was unremarkable. The service was intrusive and loud. My 3 favorite moments were... 1. When Waitress #1 spent a fair amount of time telling us about how she likes to leave early, but wouldn't be able to that night...seriously, it's New Year's Eve and you work in a restaurant! 2. When the runner that brought our entrees explained to us how we could make everything we were having at home. Duh! We all cook and cook very well, but if we wanted to make it at home, we wouldn't be paying a fortune to eat in a restaurant with crap service! 3. When Waiter #2 (never did figure out why we needed 2 waiters and at least 4 runners as well as a sommelier) tossed the Visa gift card that was paying half of the bill on the table asking what we wanted him to do with it and then as we were leaving shoulder checked my husband and wandered off without so much as an "excuse me". Oh yes, we had also explained that we had tickets to a 9pm show, hence the 6:30 reservations and were late because everything took sooooo long! Not an experience that I would wish on anyone. There are other places to get better steaks and service at a much more reasonable price...Charlie Palmer thinks way too much of themselves!

I've given up on dining at the GSR. When CP first arrived, Fin Fish quickly became my favorite restaurant. It is long gone, and the seafood selection at CP Steakhouse is limited to banal halibut and salmon entrees. Vegetarian options are minimal. The real problem, at Rim and CP Steakhouse is that everything is super sugary sweet - the balsamic vinagrette was thick and gooey, the lamb chops (ordered medium rare but served cool and deep red...), were served with a dark sweet sauce. Everything here is served with a sickly sweet sauce. It's even worse at Rim where the sweet and sour sauces dominate the menu. I guess it says something about the perceived Reno clientele, because CP would not serve this swag in Vegas or DC.

If this place is any indication to the other "Charlie Palmer" restaurants in this casino, then walk over to Johnny Rockets on the other end because this place was a SERIOUS waste of time. 3 hours total in fact. We were advised to get reservations because they get mighty crowded. Ok. We had reservations for a party of 12 at 8:15. Got there a little earlier, but was told they had to set up the table.. Ok, that's not a problem.. 15 minutes go by, still waiting outside... Checked again and the hostess said they had to set the plates! Fine.. another 10 minutes go by, went through that routine again, and was told they had to set the glasses.. are you effin' kidding me? Do you have only one person with one arm bussing the tables that it would take a total of 40 minutes to get a table ready. Brava for coming up with such awful excuses hostess. The server said the bread would be out shortly, it needed to be baked. Um... I'm no bread expert, but I'm pretty sure the bread should be warm and soft if it's supposed be coming hot out of the oven. These slices were NOT... We waited until 10pm before we finally saw light of our food. At this point, everyone was groggy and pissed from the lack of fuel we were supposed to get 1.5 hours before. Everyone was pretty much disappointed in their food. Lack in taste and heat! It was lukewarm at best. We didn't see our server after he dropped off the "oven baked" bread. He was probably hiding from shame of this place. To add insult to injury, the manager who came by, didn't even bother offering anything for the inconvenience. I wasn't fishing for freebies, but when a table has been waiting for 2 hours for food, you might want to give them a little incentive, just my thought as I was a server before and hated seeing customers pissed. It reflects poorly on the staff and manager *AHEM*, when the customers go and tell everyone to stay away. Now i'm tell you all to stay away... you're better off eating at johnny rockets or even walmart.. at least they have a hot deli.

When service is so good you just want to shout it out - I think you should!!! We had a brilliant New Years Eve Dinner at Charlie Palmers in the Grand SIerra Hotel and Casino!!! Now on this busiest of nights you would think the staff would be hurried and frazzeled - not these pros - Our dinner service was some of the best I have ever experienced. Our wait staff was relaxed, friendly, helpful and attentive. Service was prompt but not rushed - the preparation of our food was perfection!! Our steaks were tender and delicious and the Truffle Baked Potatoe was HEAVEN!!! They do such a great job here - Kudos to you all and the Grand Sierra for a wonderful New Years EVE dinner and concert with Big and RIch - a great party night choice!

Meh, I've had a better steak at Chili's. Service was good, the water was always kept to the rim, and removing my dishes from the table always happened in quick order. Now as for what I ordered... I had house salad with their citrus vinegarette. It was fantastic. However the tomato mush thing on the side was not touched at all by me. It wasn't all that good, and aesthetically unappealing. My main course was a buffalo steak with a blueberry compote. The steak a poor cut with a lot of fibers running through it, making a small section inedible. Add to that, blueberry compote? If I wanted to fruit my steak I would ask for it. To top a steak with a breakfast topping was lame. Cowboy Star in San Diego got the Buffalo steak right for me, not so much here. Overall it's not as renown as they make the steakhouse out to be, and if it was voted best steakhouse in Reno, the others much be really bad, as Charlie Palmers was only average.

Yum - this place rocks! The decor, service, food - very good & not expected at an 'off the strip' casino. Not overly presumptious either for a Charlie Palmer restaurant. My friend & I split the following: Artisan Cheeses - 3 for $9. Buffalo mozzarella (10+ yr balsamic vinegar dressed on top - awesome!), aged goat cheese (subtle, fantastic flavoring) & Pecorino Toscano (served paired w/ a house-made fig preserve - OMG!) We were fighting over the last morsels...nothing left! Brussels Sprouts - side dish, $6, ok amount. They tasted smoky which was a new twist & it worked. Served with red onions which highlighted the light sprout flavor. My friend liked the pancetta but I don't eat pig so didn't try - it looked crispy & minced. Polenta fries - 8 strips for $5. I wanted so much more than what it gave me. The Parmigiano & lemon aioli was the perfect companion & I think I ate that more than the fries! They were fried lightly & were crisp, but a taste was missing...almost like the polenta needed a bit of chayenne or some bit of bite. My friend liked them; I thought they were ok. We weren't too hungry b/c we had eaten a pizza shortly before & were drinking so didn't try the entrees but the table beside us did & from their clean plates looked like they enjoyed the food too!

We were expecting so much! 14 of us, very average bar, awful service and the steak was not the medium rare I asked for, the potatoes were cold, the creme brulee was still cold in the middle. Add to that the service which was very poor, having to ask for more water, cocktails never the same twice - this was nowhere near the quality we had expected for this restaurant. We spent a large amount of money and would NEVER RECOMMEND this restaurant to anyone.

I didn't try the steak because I always get disappointed when it's not wagyu. (EEEEEEWWWWWW WHAT A FUCKING SNOBBB). I know. We had a company dinner here and I enjoyed a salad (it was meh), the salmon (could've been better), and dessert sampler (couldn't finish it).

My expectations for Reno cuisine are very very low. My two prior experiences of Reno fare were at Cafe Sierra and the Silver Legacy buffet. The former being bad and the latter being a sickeningly horrendous abomination. I did not expect a legit fine-dining experience, regardless of price, but Charlie Palmer delivered. The interior is modern and chic, and the waiters are professional. A little bit stiff and rehearsed, but still very capable. The menu is a la carte and very overpriced, seeing as they don't even dry age the meat. There's no way you can tell me a Ribeye cost $50 by itself to produce, then you pay $9 for 8 asparagus spears...that's a little crazy. But comparatively, it's a lot less crazy than feeding $20 after $20 into slot machines. If you come to blow a few hundred on terrible odds, you may as well spend $100 on a truly great dining experience. And if you're up, why not? They do have an extensive and expensive wine list, but I would have preferred a little bit more creative by-the-glass listing. I guess they are trying to drive bottle purchases, but who wants to be locked-in to a bottle purchase? Not me. I'd rather try a couple different wines. I don't even know if I would call this a steakhouse...it's more of a new American bistro, but I guess they have license to charge a la carte, a la Ruth Chris, if they call it a steakhouse. Ribeye is my shit, but last time I had that, it took me a month to digest it, so I decided to go lighter and split the scallop special app with pork belly (you had me at pork belly) and the duck breast. Both were thoughtful and cooked to perfection. The scallops were served with a hunk of pork belly, carmelized pear puree, and a port-rosemary jus...bomb. The duck breast was served medium rare and way more tender and juicy than any of the beef I tried. Along with a spring roll, some kind of sauce, and boiler onions, it especially made love to the Carneros Pinot I ordered. I closed my eyes and was in heaven with every bite. For dessert, the table split the chocolate-peanutbutter bar and the duo of creme brulee. Both were exceptional, except for my personal view that creme brulee should be served in somewhat of a shallow ramekin, instead of the deep square bowls they chose. The shortbread cookie garnish was like biting into a fluffy butter cloud. Somehow, one of the servers brought out a spoon covered in oil and parsley, after we brought that to their attention, the manager came out, apologized and offered to comp the dessert course. They are serious about providing a flawless dining experience...showed a lot of class. Next time I'd like to try the clam chowder at Fin Fish, because I respect Charlie Palmer's philosophy. If you come to the Grand Sierra Resort, there's no reason not to budget a meal at Charlie Palmer Steak, even if you don't like steak, because they really do a great job here, and I'm pretty snobby. It's a nice break from all-day drinking, fruitless gambling, and sub-par diner food.

Checked in at 9p and front desk informed us that Charlie Palmer's was the best steak place in Reno...hmmm...wonder if she's bias?! LOL Haven't been to every steakhouse in Reno but this place was damn good!! The rib eye was exactly the way I wanted it...juicy 18oz of deliciousness!! (drool) With a side order of asparagus...so good! Service was GREAT! Waiter was attentive and pleasant. He made sure to check on us often. He may have paused a bit while going through the specials but it was a bit amusing if anything. Definitely coming back if ever in crave of a good steak while in Reno!

Tucked into a corner on the casino floor of the Grand Sierra Resort, walk past the cattle call of a line for the buffet, lies this gem of a steak house with a celebrity chef attached to the name. It is not your old school steak house with dim lighting and dark wood decor but rather new school with lighter tones and a very metropolitan open feel. Service was just fine for this type of restaurant as silverware was replaced at every course, 1 person to monitor our drinks, 1 for food, 1 to clear empty plates and food was never asked where it should go, it was just simply placed in front of you. On par, I'd say. We all started with an appetizer and all were good. A special of Grilled Pear and Goat Cheese Salad looked good, the Foie Gras with a Macadamia Nut Pineapple Upside-down Cake seemed more like a dessert to me but the sweet glazed foie gras with the fruit-based caked proved to be a unique experience. My Shrimp Cocktail was deconstructed as the sauce was smeared on the plate while the plump delicous shrimp layed artistically tangled over a slightly salty Fennel Slaw. Not bad, but not over the top. Everyone had to try a steak here and we all ended up trying the New York Strip ($39), it is the king of steaks in my opinion. No mention of type of beef or grade on the menu (at least I didn't notice) but upon first bite, I knew it was Prime grade or something equivalent. Properly bout an inch and a half in thickness, close to a pound in weight and perfectly crisp on the exterior and properly cooked to our specifications. Just salted on the aggresive side in my opinion, but with a light pour of a red wine reduction (in my opinion is the ultimate steak sauce) and several cloves of roast garlic atop the steak, which with the press of a fork just melded into the crust of the steak, just made for a sublime experience. 3 other sauces came on the side which I felt were way overkill but we tried them as dots on our plate and all were properly executed from their "house" steak sauce to the velvety bearnaise. After drinks and entree we had to pass on dessert, but was given a small plate of petite fours with bite size truffles, macaroons, candied walnuts and a couple of others not remembered. The sweet server had mentioned that we just couldn't leave without a sweet good-bye. Indeed it left an impression. Multi-course dinner with drinks plus tip averaged about a $120/person. Would I do it again? For this type of culinary experience and more importantly to not have to wait 45 minutes in line to graze with the cattle in the buffet, fuck ya!

delicious! we came here before the gabriel iglesias show and it was a superb steakhouse. i got the petit ny steak with garlic confit...it was cooked to perfection. we shared the goat mac & cheese (scrumptious), asparagus (tender), honey glazed carrots (sweetness), and fries. i never pass up on dessert and the peanut butter bar was such a treat! i really liked this place and think it's a real gem in reno!

Went here for a birthday dinner and was blown away! I was told that it was a set menu at $75/person and thought to myself... why the heck is it so damn expensive?! Well, the perfectly seasoned and cooked steak is why! The sides were incredible, cream of spinach, sauteed mushrooms, and garlic mashed potatoes topped the meal off perfectly. They had a huge selection of wines and I had a merlot with my meal. PERFECTION. The servers were very attentive and took great care of us. We felt like royalty in there! I would love to make a return!

During my FREE weekend stay at the GSR, the boyfriend and I decided to dine at Briscola on our second night. After watching the Dining Show about Briscola in our room, I had to try this place; so we made reservations for 7:45 and arrived on time and was immediately seated. We were seated near the front of the room, and the ambiance was quite nice. Service was friendly, but slow. We had 2 servers for the table, but neither of them was as attentive as I expected. We ordered: - CHITARRA NERO (SHRIMP / SCALLOPS / MUSSELS / CLAMS / SPICY LOBSTER BROTH); Half size - PENNE (BRAISED BEEF / SALUMI / PROSCIUTTO / CREAM); Half size - ASPARAGUS (GRILLED / THREE CHEESE FONDUTA) I expected my Chitarra Nero to be full of flavor, especially since everything sits atop spicy lobster broth, but it failed to meet my expectations. Also, due to the fact that I don't know my colors in Italian, I had not realized I ordered spaghetti noodles in the shade of BLACK. It did not looking appealing but tasted fine. There was a good amount of seafood in the dish; the tastiest item was the scallops. The broth was plain, and had nothing special about it; no spice. Very disappointing. I had to add in red peppers to give it some kick. Not a dish I'd recommend. The boyfriend's Penne was a better option. This dish, too, had the right amount of ingredients. The braised beef was perfect. I only tried a little bit so I don't have too much to say about it. There were probably 10 pieces of asparagus. I'm not a fan of cheese so I picked the ones that weren't covered in it. Quite tasty. Overall, this is not a restaurant I would recommend. I wish I had gone to the other Charlie Palmer restaurants located in the resort. I wish I had a better dining experience but hey, can't always get what you want. I hope others have better luck than I did.

This restaurant = zero stars but that was not an option. Service was horrible, not just so so but horrible. The server brought out every course at the same time. Apps, salads, and steaks all together and didn't understand when we were unhappy. On the up side the sliders were really good but I wouldn't eat here again. This was not a fine dining experience .

We called to ask if we needed reservations and we were told yes, so we made them online. We arrive to a near empty restaurant. Despite being an adult couple, we are seated between whining elementary school kids and a screaming baby. Can't control your guests but you can control where they sit. We saw the other three adults only tables get seated far away from the child circus. We clearly looked distraught and the waitress could only gurgle about how cute the kids were to us. Really? Do you not read facial expressions at all? The mozzarella-tomato salad and the chicken parm were the highlights of the night. I ordered the duck and it was cold after two bites. Unfortunately the server checked in after the first bite and nver came back despite attempts to flag her down in the near empty establishment. Sucked for me because that duck only had two decently cooked slices. The fat hadn't been rendered and the duck was so chewy I couldn't swallow it. I finally got the server's attention and in that sickly sweet fake facade she told me that this is the way the duck was supposed to be prepared. Even after gesturing to the covered mound of chewed and discarded duck pieces (I tried all of them, to no avail) I got nary an apology. I didn't make a bigger scene because the boyfriend had picked the spot and already felt bad... no need to make it worse. Next time... if there is one... we will do take out and won't pay for the duck.

Went to Briscola on a Friday night. Had reservations at 7, showed up late and they did not have a problem. We were seated immediately (party of 4). Liked the atmosphere: Good music, not too loud, the smell of fresh baked bread, and candle-lit tables. Services was excellent, although it was not too busy. The waitress answered all of our questions and described the plates to a "T" and convinced me to change my order from her description of one of the specials. All 4 of us shared our plates: Baked Penne (the tastiest of the 4 dishes in my opinion), Veal, Chicken Marsala, and some sort of wide noodle dish, sorry I forgot the name. All was very tasty, and suprisingly generous portions. Only complaint is the Chicken Marsala sauce was too syrupy, and in my opinion had too much cooking sherry. Althought the chicken was tender and juicy. price is about $20-30 a person. I would go here again for sure.

No stars. Made reservation. Showed up on time. Served dirty water, had unclean table cloth, and we weren't ever given menus. Waited a good 20-25 minutes, and STILL no menus. We left.

If you want a great steak and excellent service and a very good wine list - then Charlie Palmer's is your place in Reno. My husband and I had a wonderful dinner the night before I had to fly out for a vaca (and we were staying at the hotel) and I have nothing bad to say about this Charlie Palmer location. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but good steak houses are expensive! I had the filet with shallots and my husband had the Kansas City ribeye. We both truly enjoyed our steaks. Our waitress - and then after she got off work - our waiter was personable and not intrusive at all. Their wine list is decent and we had a good Malbec with our steaks.

This is one of the nicest restraurants I've been to. The service was excellent! The staff was knowledgable and attentive. I asked what wine was recommended with my fish and the suggestion matched deliciously with my food. I had corn bread muffins with jalapeños, regular fresh bread, house salad with house dressing, scallops with pork belly, potato gratin, Mac & cheese, lobster stuffing with Ritz crackers, lobster, chocolate truffles, biscotti and candied walnuts. WOW! Lot's of food and everything was delicious except the lobster. The lobster was slightly over cooked. My husband had the ribeye. The ribeye was perfectly cooked. So good you do not need any of the delicious sauces that come with the ribeye. I'm from steak and wine country in California but I can't wait to eat here again when I come back to Reno. DELICIOUS!!

Staying in the Grand Sierra for a week on business. Grabbed a few appetizers for a late meal. Staff was attentive and friendly. Beef skewers were tender and flavorful. Asparagus was just slightly over cooked, but very tasty. Goat cheese mac and cheese was great, but too much once I had finished the 2 previous sides.

My husband & I, on the recommendation of our daughter in Phoenix, ate here on New Years Eve. We had two servers and a busboy. We were greeted immediately and after awhile took our order. We started with oysters on the half shell which were metallic tasting. My husband ordered a spinach salad with a poached egg and warm bacon dressing. When it finally came, the dressings was cold and the spinach wilted. I had the lobster bisque which was average. The filet special came with a lobster sauce that was supposed to have chunks of lobster, I had to look for the lobster. It was warm and had gristle. My husband had the pork chop and it was dry and chewy. But what happened during our meal was shocking! We bought a bottle of wine that cost over $100. We were pouring our own wine because the servers hardly came around. When one of servers did stop to pour some wine, before I could stop him, he poured it right into my water glass. The manager came by with an apology and a small glass with about 2 oz. of the same wine from the bar. It obviously had been opened because it was not as good as our bottle. I don't understand why everything was so bad because it wasn't that crowded since we went earlier in the evening. We definitely won't go back. P.S they did take the salad off the bill.

Phenominal dinner! Julian and Ken brought us the most wonderful meal! Reservations were easy, the staff was friendly, and helpful. We had a perfect anniversary dinner! The new York strip steak was perfectly cooked flavored and served with a tiny tomato salad, tasty as can be. The oysters rockefeller were better here in reno than when we had them last in San Diego. Thank you Charlie Palmer !

The hotel really needs to promote and let guests know they can sit at the fabulous hip, relaxing, stylish bar - secluded from the noise of the casino and have one of the best meals of their lives!!!!!! LOVED THE LOUNGE AT CHARLIE PALMER STEAK RENO.... coming back to Reno for the food there!!

Two years ago my husband and I were married at the Grand Sierra. A group of 12 of us the next night went out for a "nice" dinner. We were sat and waited for our waiters (we had like 4) to take our drink orders. After almost 45 minutes some of our friends got up and went to the bar. Ten minutes later we finally got water thanks to the awesome busboy! He was the only one helping us. I (the bride who just spent thousands on a wedding!) went an spoke to the manager about our lack of service and nothing changed. When we finally finished our meal my mom asked to have her filet mignon boxed up. Instead they threw it away! When she asked about it they said they thought she was done with it! The only good thing that happened was that they made her a new one! I was so disappointed that we were treated so terribly at our celebratory dinner...

The food itself was wonderfully executed, and after reading some of the Yelpers comments, I was skeptical and afraid... Not our experience whatsoever! The staff was AMAZINGLY upbeat, knowledgeable, entertaining and heart felt. Their wine steward took the time to know us, and recommend a fabulous (and pricey) wine for our meal. The seared fois gras stole the show, as did the bread pudding and creme brulee... The steaks are par with any other good steak house, and the meal, from start to finish was fun, elegant, hearty and made our daughter in laws birthday celebration truly memorable. I look forward to checking out Charlie Palmer in DC and Dallas and put his other staff members and steaks to the test. Pricey, but the meal will not disappoint you, nor will the service.

My husband and I went to this steak house not knowing anything about establishment. I have the Encrusted Braized Pork Chops and my husband the Rib Eye with the appitzer being the Ahi Ahi......OMG this place is amazing! The wait staff were awesome, never letting us run out of water or our drink. The food was AMAZING! The staff were so polite and had no problems answering any questions that myself or my husband had. We realized that this was a fine dining resturant and for the price you not only get quality but quantity! We were stuffed to the gills!!! Even had to bring food home it was so much. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this resturant if you are going on a serious date or looking for a lovely night out since they have a lounge area where you can order drink and food. I LUV this place!

By far the best place to eat at the grand sierra. Came here when I was told at the buffet that it would take 45 mins to an hour to get a seat. I actually finished eating here before they paged me at the buffet. Quickly seated. No wait. Fast service. Ordered the special which was a ny strip with prawns. Thing was freaking huge and delicious. Cooked perfectly. Tender, seared properly, just wonderful. Steak came with 3 sauces. I don't put sauce on my steaks, but I did try them out on my sides/prawns. The house sauce was sweet, bbq-esque. The green chimichurri sauce went well with prawns, don't know why anyone would put the stuff of steak though. The bearnaise was prepared well. Very satisfied with the food. Relatively small wine list for such an establishment, but they did offer a nice selection of wines by the glass. The malbec I had was pretty good for the price. Will definitely come back here again.

I had high expectations for Charlie Palmer's signature restaurant in Reno. The celebrity chef has two restaurants here in Reno. Fin Fish and Charlie Palmer SteakHouse. They share the kitchen but serve in adjacent spaces. There are a lot good things going on here but a few very basic items that were missteps. First the good - nice modern classic decor and very pleasant service. Several dishes were spot on - 1. seafood open face ravioli (nice flavor and texture). 2. kansas city rib eye steak seasoned to perfection. although my medium rare came out medium. 3. creme brulee which had wonderful vanilla flavor. however my bib lettuce salad with cucumbers and spicy shrimp was grainy which meant the lettuce wasn't washed and rinsed properly. biting into a fresh leafy salad at a restaurant of this stature shouldn't include a crunch like this. and the ranch dressing was tasteless and watery. WOW, what a disappointment! The wine list was very very pricey and the wines by the glass selection was abysmal. There is a very nice wine bar not even a pitching wedge distance from the restaurant and I was shocked at the lack of selection on the red wines by the glass. Reno is striving to upgrade its hotels and restaurants and become a viable alternative to Tahoe and Vegas. this restaurant is a good start but needs to take it up a level. especially at these prices.

While we had heard great things about the place that used to be in this location, we discovered that the new place wasn't up to par. It started from the moment we were seated. We were placed at a table that had a dirty table cloth - ick! They promptly moved us to another table and apologized - ok no biggy I thought. When the beverage server came over she apologized again stating that they couldn't see the mess, at this point they should have just let it go and not made excuses for the mess. We ordered a vodka on the rocks and glass of wine and had to ask twice for the wine - in the meantime, our anti-pasta appetizer appears (still no wine). We picked the assorted meat platter with marinated mushrooms, peppers and olives. At a whopping $19 for the appetizer, we had four pieces of prosciutto, three paper thin pieces of salami and marinated mushrooms, etc that tasted like they poured a very cheap-sweet-bottled Italian dressing on them - we were not amused and while the meat was good (although minimal for the price) - marinade was terrible. After asking about various menu items we decided on the Ahi Tuna Ravioli - the waiter raved about the dish stating that the raviolis were wonderful and we would love the seared ahi on the side. We split an order at the suggestion of the waiter (that was nice that he was watching out for our pocket book). Once our dishes appeared - it looked yummy, taste -- not so much. The tuna was tough and tasteless and raviolis were very plain. Enough said... We will not return to this place due to the service and tasteless, overpriced menu. Bummer.

This was by far the best steaks we ever had. We travel and have eaten many things at many places around the world. That being said, this could easily be the best meal ever. Fresh warm bread, amazing salad with the freshest ingredients, including top of the line good blue cheese. Steaks well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Sides also were great. Free desert due to a birthday, creme brûlée , excellent. As part of a chocolate cake dessert I read that it came with brown butter ice cream. I was intrigued. The waitress brought a small bowl, amazing! Waitress was Angelina, she and the rest of the staff were great, food came out very quickly and any questions we had were answered. Would go back several times a week if possible!

This place is off the charts. This was, by far, the best dining experience I've ever had. Our porterhouse steak was a perfect med rare and the dipping sauces were fantastic. We were given a complimentary dessert and the service ... Well I can't say enough about the service!! Out of this world!!! Thank you so much for being the highlight of my trip. I'll definitely be back.

The Charlie Palmer Steak House is located inside of the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV. The reason I mention this is because one of my biggest complaints was there there is no in-restaurant bathrooms; the closest one is located quite far away across the casino floor. My next biggest complaint was that the bread that was served with dinner was not toasted. Sometimes it is the smaller things that make the biggest difference.... Now to the good things: dinner was started with the Ahi Tuna Tartare which was great. The texture and taste was perfect compared to other places where I have had similar dishes. For the main course we chose the Porterhouse for Two cooked to medium-rare. My plate was perfect with little fat while the other plate had quite a few tendons and chunks of fat. The meal was finished off with a dessert of Duo of Crme Brulee. For crme brulee I was quite satisfied, both had a think layer of sugar carmalized on top. Overall I was impressed with our dinning experience and I would go back again. Wait staff was amazingly attentive, the ambiance was perfect, and the food was great. I would say that Charlie Palmer is the best steakhouse in Reno and with that said, be prepared to pay about $100 per person when dinning.

Copy of a post from an old account of mine: The food was the only saving grace. The service as a whole was horrible. We waited 30 minutes before we even received our menus. The head waiter came by our table two times, each time telling us our waiter would be there soon. Close to the 30 minute mark was when he decided to take us on as a table. Unfortunately, this goes against him, because I think he already had more than he could handle. The Sommelier (I think they only had one) needs to pick up the pace and learn the correct order in which to serve wine. I have never had one leave a bottle of white wine on the table for more than 10 minutes (unopened). Our overall dining experience lasted about 4 hours, and I am positive it wasn't by design. It's great to have fine dining experiences available in the biggest little city full of casinos, but still a little speed is desired. During the time we were at the table, we were only asked for drinks one time, when we could have drank more. The only time we saw the waiter was when it was time to take the order and serve the order. Now on to the food. Appetizer: Duo of Foie Gras, which was excellent. Next: House-cured Bacon and Baby Romaine Salad, no complaints. Entree: New York Strip, cooked perfectly and well seasoned. They added roasted garlic as a topping, which was good, but not needed. Sides: Broccoli Rabe, way overcooked and not worth eating. Green Asparagus, cooked perfectly. Hen of the Woods Mushroom, delicious. Bacon, Onion, and Potato Gratin, very good. The food is the only reason this place is getting 3 stars.

My overall experience at Charlie Palmers was enjoyable, but for the money it wasn't the best meal i've ever had. The service was remarkable, they work in teams so you are never left unattended and there is always someone very close by to make sure you have everything you need. They brought out a small cup of some sort of gazpacho that was a miss for me. We split a scallop and pork belly appetizer that was on special and it was a good combination of flavors. I had a wedge salad that was pretty standard and slightly over dressed. I had roasted chicken that came with gnocchi and vegetables and while it wasnt remarkable it was good. My friends split a surf and turf and said it was nicely done. The lobster stuffing that accompanied was 90 percent stuffing and 10 percent lobster at best. They brought us out a dessert sampler that had truffles, pineapple upside down cake and candied walnuts and i didnt think any of it was worthy of being served at a white table cloth steak house. We enjoyed dinner with a fabulous bottle of french wine and overall had a nice experience. For the same price point i prefer Roxy's or Bricks.

Oh, where to start... On the contrary to some of the less than impressive reviews, I found that I enjoyed the Charlie Palmer Steak House. My family of 5 came here for a birthday dinner, and were treated like royalty. The food was more than adequate, to say the least. The steak was amazing, the service was great, and overall the restaurant had an incredible impact on the me. Although that is only concerning food, the waiters were an entirely new story. The servers were some of the nicest people I have ever met. We had 3, all of them being amazing. The main server, Suzy, was one of the most kind hearted, incredible people I have ever been waited on by. The restaurant was quiet, and the people there were very considerate. Overall, I'd say that this made my celebratory dinner one of the best I have ever had.

Atmosphere: To us Seniors, it was waay too dark. And, since it was Saturday evening, it was also quite crowded which made the noise level such that we could not carry on a conversation across the booth from one another. Food: Not as pricey as we expected. Typical pricing for a steakhouse. Menu was varied and it surprised us that we saw a limited choice in steaks they serve. We had Rib Eyes, and they were cooked TO PERFECTION. My French Onion soup left a LOT to be desired...seemed to be cooked for presentation effect rather than taste or substance. Would not order it again. Hubby had Lobster Bisque and he said it was OUTSTANDING! Service: Absolutely WONDERFUL! We could not be happier. Best service we have ever had. Our waiter was so thoughtful, kind and generous! There were moments where his manager interrupted "the flow" and came off pretentous, but it was easy to overlook this because otherwise everything was wonderful. Although the Sierra is the only casino we visit when in Reno, I don't think I would dine here every visit...just for special occasions. And I would probably avoid another Saturday evening in the hopes the noise level would abate somewhat.

Ok so I gave this restaurant a 3 star all because of the appetizer; Grilled Tomato and Basil soup that was recommended to us by the waitress. It was a special that day and if not for that soup I would've awarded this place a 2 star instead. That soup was AMAZING! Delicious! It was very filling even though I shared a bowl with my b.f. The restaurant itself was a little small, maybe because it was in a hotel, I'm not sure. The decor was nice but not special. The service was ok, but not good. We had two waitresses that night. One was good, she was the one who told us about the soup and the other one was a backup. She had a complete brain fart when she came to ask my b.f. if he needed another glass of wine and he told her yes. Fifteen minutes later, she still hadn't come back with the glass of wine. We could see her standing by the wall next to the register just daydreaming. Finally the first waitress came by and he told her what he wanted and what had happened to the other waitress and she promptly left and came back with his drink. As for the food, we ordered the Briscola Chicken and the Chicken Parmesan with Asparagus. My b.f. had the chicken parmesan and he liked it but it didn't blow his mind. The asparagus he thought tasted bitter, so he didn't even eat it. The Briscola chicken was not good at all. No flavor and a little dry. They put something on top of the chicken that had a weird texture to it so I removed it..and still ate the chicken. The overall experience and price to eat there was not worth it. Would not go there again.

Well, after trying the lounge for two nights, we decided that the restaurant was not for us. Despite the fact that they weren't busy on either night, the service was painfully slow and the drinks were watered down. On the second visit, it seemed that one of waitresses was tending bar. My Manhattan was one of the worst I ever had, despite being told by the manager it was going to be the best I ever head. Our order of fried calamari was mostly breading with very little actual calamari. Based on both experiences, we chose not to order dinner where the rib eye is pushing $40.00.

although i don't yelp much. i had to do one for this restaurant. that's how bad it was. my friends and i got free rooms for grand sierra for the weekend and were having a blast... until we came to this restaurant saturday night. we had a party of 12 for 8:15pm. this is where the problem started. we arrived at 8:00pm and figured they can prepare for our table earlier. not true. at 8:30pm we asked what the hold up was and the hostess told us that they were putting the wine glasses on the table. " ok.. so we are about to sit down right?" NOPE! it took another 20 minutes for us to be seated after that. we were finally seated around 8:50pm. we wanted to be productive so while we were waiting we looked at the menu and we all decided what to order so that the server can take our order as soon as we sat down. he took our order promptly at around 9pm with no problems. then... MOAR WAITING! our food did not come till a little after 10pm. the manager gave us free wine to entice us and get us drunk so that we won't notice the delays. NOT HAPPENING. this wait time is just.. this is just.. this is just too ridiculous to be bought out by free booze. we wasted 2 hours of our night just sitting around the restaurant, waiting to be seated and waiting for our food that was not even cooked correctly. the rigatoni was undercooked and still felt hard but was edible. the lasagna was probably overcooked in the oven because we almost chipped a tooth eating it. this had to be sent back and at this point of the night we did not want to wait another 2 hours to receive a replacement order. we just wanted to pay for whatever we ate and leave this restaurant. this restaurant ruined our night and almost our entire trip. free trip or not, i would NOT come back to this restaurant. i had a better time losing at the craps table than sitting at this place. if they can't accommodate such a big party, they should not have told us they can and waste our whole night sitting around like dumba$$es.

I have my reservations about Reno, but in any case I was here over the weekend at the Grand Sierra (along with 3000 of Nevada's Democrats who were here for the state convention-- fights broke out, let's leave it at that) cause the pops had a seminar for his Mitsubishi MU2. We had a party of 8 here and I was pleasantly, pleasantly surprised by both the food and impeccible service at Charlie Palmer. Among the things ordered amongst our table was the porterhouse for 2 @ $85-- very supple and rich, the hawaiian tuna-- one of the best I've had, and I've had PLENTY of seared tuna...this is probably the safest bet on the menu, another had the crispy duck breast which didn't seem shabby at all. For sides, they have a proper variety from the usual sea scallops to a sashimi salad. Also, they have a large selection of sides including mac & goat cheese. Service was phenomenal, we were seated within a minute, no complaints here.

I was a little worried about eating here based on the previous yelpers bashing the poor service ! But I am a big fan of Palmer's cookbooks and wanted to try some of his stuff for real. We didn't get a table and opted for a few spots at the bar. I couldn't help but mention the yelp reviews to the bartender and he was really nice and very attentive. Of course, when one of the apps came out, it didnt have the toasts so we had to wait for them to come and he immediately took it off the bill. He also gave me a little extra pour of the vino! The filet was cooked to perfection and the sauces were divine. I have to say that the service was excellent. When something wasn't right, our bartender made it so. Must go next time...

Our party of 4 had reservations for 9:30pm a couple of Saturdays ago. We checked in with the hostess at 9:25. Sounds reasonable? I thought so. Fifteen fucking minutes later, she motioned for us to follow her. The place was NOT full. It wasn't busting at the seams. Am I being unreasonable? You better say no. We were seated in a very private corner booth and greeted by a friendly but yet professional waiter. All of us had decided quickly on what we wanted, but it was the sides that had us all in a tizzy. I'm a greedy little bitch when it comes to food. I want one bite off of every little plate. For our sides, my girlfriend ordered the mushrooms, I ordered the creamed spinach gratin AND the crisp french fries with chipotle aioli sauce. Needless to say, after our prawns appetizer, I was full. The iced tea was refreshing.... the service was outstanding.

We had reservations and were seated quickly. The area we were seated in was very private, it was away from the casino noise. We ordered a bottle of Dom Perignon to go with our meals and the staffing was very attention and made sure our glasses were always filled. Julian and Ken are great, they just added more value to our dining experience. My husband ordered the foie gras and it was melt in your mouth good. Everything that we ordered was phenomenal from the lobster to the blue crab crusted new york strip steak. I highly recommend the creme brulee, you get both a coffee and vanilla creme brulee, both are excellent!

For this kind of money I expect more. Atmosphere was nice, wait staff was excellent, appetizers and salad were good, BUT the rib-eye steak was raw. Ok - I ordered medium rare and different restaurants have different definitions. But our table mates ordered medium and their steak was just as raw as ours. The waiter should have corrected that before serving it to us. Not saying the restaurant was bad, just that for that kind of money, it should have been better.

Not sure what the 3 star ratings are all about. This place has outstanding steak and seafood and is consistent time after time. I almost don't believe it's in Reno, this place rocks.

Great food, great service, great experience. The french onion soup is a must here as it is at any Charlie Palmer restaurant. If you've never tried it, you're in for a treat. Scallops were great, salmon was very good, as was everything else we had. Good wine list, and as I said before the service was excellent. I don't particularly like traveling to Reno, but if i'm there again, this is where i'll be dining.

For my birthday this year, my husband and I went to Reno and stayed at The Summit @ Grand Sierra Resort. While there, Lady Luck gave me a birthday gift in the form of a $700 win at my lucky slot machine (and NO I will not tell you which slot machine). So, with our winnings we decided to go and have a nice dinner. We went to downtown Reno to check out the steakhouses in the other hotels, but we ultimately found ourselves back at our hotel at Charlie Palmer. My husband ordered the NY steak with fries, and I had the salmon with a side of mashed potatoes (sides are $8 each). He was very impressed with the quality, taste, and presentation of his meal, as was I with my meal. The salmon had amazing flavor, and was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were also delicious and a nice compliment to my meal. We finished our meal off with a cheesecake and two glasses of their Moscato wine (can't remember the maker). Our main waiter that evening was very friendly and helpful, and I noticed that all of the waiters provided assistance to all of the tables, making it a group effort. Expect to spend about $60-70 per person (more if having wine and/or cocktails)

This is a duplicate of my review for Fin Fish, but since the two restaurants share a lounge (I only spent time in the lounge), I figured I would post here too. The BF and I were staying a the Grand Sierra for a few days and are starting a tradition of just sitting around casino lounges and having a drink, talking about whatever. We chose Fin Fish/Charlie Palmer Steak rather than the two lounges because it was a weekday and both Reserve and whatever 2500 East looked sad and lonely. The Fin Fish/ CPS area is very smartly designed, with a modern palette and very perpendicular angles. Strategic lighting and simple upholstery keep with the clean color scheme, and the music and flat-screen TVs don't interrupt the ambiance too much. The chairs in the lounge area were pretty comfortable, and the restaurant is nested away from the action, so even though the lounge area is on the outer side of the restaurant, you don't get too much annoying noise pollution from video slots. We ordered the creme brulee, which was a duo of what appeared to be a standard creme brulee and a chocolate creme brulee. We paired it with a glass of Amontillado. The original creme brulee had a little too much egg-white flavor, and a little of the proteiny texture was evident. The chocolate one, however, was very cocoa-y, smooth, and had such a light, airy feel to it that it was actually refreshing compared to the chocolate-covered raisin flavor of the Amontillado. The two things that ding this review are: 1. service and 2. prices. Our waitress was pretty suckville and she paid very little attention to us. How we were dressed might have factored in, but come on - it was ten o'clock on a Monday! Everything was pretty dead and I wasn't going to dress up for what was mostly the 55 and up set. Dessert was $8, which is fine, considering how upscale everything was and how rich and somewhat large the dessert was. However, they didn't have a single non-varietal dessert wine under $7 for a tiny glass! Am I asking too much here?

The stats on this restaurant say that it is not recommended for children. I chose this restaurant as a place for a belated birthday dinner for my sweetheart. We have a 15 month old and take him everywhere with us, usually due to lack of sitters from not really knowing anyone in our area. Charlie Palmer Steak is included in that. We arrived about 7 PM. and were seated right away. I believe that it was Sunday night 7/10/11, but it may have been Saturday 7/9/11 night...Either way the atmosphere was great. The staff saw that we had our son in tow, and was very accommodating. They provided a high chair and were very nice. The first thing that was brought to our table was the bread and a tomato gazpacho with cilantro cream. My other half is not big on tomatoes, but he was very impressed with the gazpacho. Shortly after the french fries which were delicious. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed them. Our server was wonderful with her suggestions, and said that the rib eye could feed all three of us easily. She also suggested the Alaskan King crab legs. We ordered both, and WOW! I have never had such amazing food in my life! My son usually chews steak and spits it out, but he actually ate this steak. Our server was correct, what we ordered filled up all three of us. The complimentary petite fours were also incredible! To sum it up, our entire experience, even with our tired 15 month old was superb. I do not have a single thing to complain about. Service and food were incredible!

A great Steakhouse. Our meal and the service were exceptional. My Blue Cheese crusted New York Steak was cooked perfectly. All the other steaks and the Halibut were just perfect. The appetizers, especially the lobster bisque and the scallop were wonderful. Service was excellent. We'll be back.

We came with 8 we were seated immediately we waited 20 mins for menus we waited another 20 to order wine and drinks we waited another 20 or so to have them served, there is 1 sommelier who personally opens each tables' selections. He opened our Red before our white wine They never showed up to ask if we wanted more The entire meal was over 4 hours The food was yummy, Steak was perfect..(The broccolini inedible)the homemade sorbet was definitely worth saving room for. The restaurant itself has that 50's simplistic elegance with a modern twist. The service for a group just didn't cut it.

I do not give 5 stars, so this is as close as it gets for a place in Reno. We've been to Reno many times before - even to there neighbor - Fin Fish. But, this is the first time we've actually sat down and eaten at CP. We both had the Filet which was excellently seared and cooked to perfection! Also, Grilled Veggies and CP Fries (sides)....they fries were great and we couldn't stop eating them! The steak paired great with the JaM Cabernet that I ordered. After seeing other tables getting a dessert sampler (in addition to their own order); we decided to finish off with just coffee...of course they brought a sampler of chocolate, cookies, etc. Overall, the service was excellent and food came out quickly. This was the best experience in a Reno restaurant we've ever had!

So this was suppose to be my birthday night out with my husband without the kids and frankly, I wish we would have stayed in and ordered pizza with the kids and probably had better italian. We had made a reservation online two days before for dinner for two at 8:30 on a Friday night. After two confirmation emails, we got there in plenty of time just to find the teenage very rude hostess to say ,"we did not have a reservation and It's a good thing we are not busy" before she crammed us in between a wall and another couple, when half the restaurant was empty. We should of just left at that point... But we stayed, and were introduced one after the other by our 3 servers. We order a bottle of wine from the wine list and that's when someone brought us bread. Starving, we both go right for a piece when I realize it's cold and more like sandwich bread. This is not starting off to be a good sign. So we order. I started with the fried mozzarella salad and my husband just the green salad. Delicious. This is why I am giving you A star. Probably need to turn this into a vegetarian restaurant since those were the only enjoyable parts of our meal. On with our Entree's, I ordered there take on a mushroom ravioli that I wish I didn't and my husband got the chicken parmigiana with the grilled asparagus. Once again the asparagus being the best part of everything. Oh, I had also ordered a side of meatballs with my pasta, just to try. Should have skipped those as well, since they were served cold and tasteless. With half the food still left on my plate I had the waitress box up the leftovers, excluding the meatballs which I told her were terrible. I really don't know why I even had her box up the ravioli, I threw it in the garbage as soon as we walked out of the restaurant. Now the dessert menu comes, and my husband says why even bother, but still hungry and wanting something sweet I go for the blueberry panna cotta which is one of my favorites. They have a pastry chef just for the desserts, what could possibly go wrong? I should have listened to my husband...curdled panna cotta with a hard bluberry gelle underneath was not my idea of a tasty treat. At the end of the evening, two and a half hours later, we receive our hefty bill of $153 and the waitress says, I took the meatballs off since you didn't like them. She should have taken off the entrees and the dessert as well, We paid and had to wait another 15 minutes to get our card back. After the headache from start to finish of this fine dining experience I'm happy to say we will never be back again. Oh, and thanks for the no-show report added to my open table account... I thought I had no reservation miss twelve year old with an attitude hostess. I let them know how terrible our evening was as well.

A relatively new Reno steakhouse from Charlie Palmer, who also has the Healdsburg wonderful restaurant called Dry Creek Kitchen. Had two meals at this place during a week of conference. Both meals were exceptional. And, unlike the other reviewers, the service was top notch (maybe the Yelp reviews prompted them to good service). I had the NY strip steak on the first visit and the filet on the second. Both cooked to perfection and exactly as ordered on medium. Very soft and tender with great tastes from the seasoning. Sides were outstanding as I had the Yukon gold puree, mushrooms and some vegetables. The pear salad with goat cheese was especially done up well. For Reno, this restaurant is now in the top tier without a doubt. Be prepared for the ala carte prices on the steaks ranging from $32-$45. Overall, wonderful setting, great service and superb food. Worth the visit.

Now, i am a traditionalist so i find charm in old school steakhouses of yesterday like Harrah's Steak House and similar, but at this window in time, I feel that Charlie Palmer is the best steakhouse in reno, and one of the best restaurants period in northern nevada (the fair city i call home). Ambiance is a 10, the food is always well presented and if not PERFECT, they will make it perfect with no questions asked. Great experience with the wait staff, managers, sommelier, and on and on. I have eaten at the bar, eaten as a party of 2, and taken clients and my entire company to dinner here with a total party of 18 and they never miss a beat. Your price range is about $100/person with wine and desert, but it really wont disappoint. Avoid Dolce next door...it plain sucks. But Charlie Palmer Steak & Fin Fish are both excellent choices on par with vegas or other big city high end dining. PS to Grand Sierra THe place is looking great, but get rid of that Dolce - 3 strikes and its out in my book.

We ate here while staying at the Grand Sierra over the July 4th holiday. We didn't want to sit in one of the horribly tight tables for two in the front of the restaurant, but luckily the manager reserved a booth for us. It was perfect. The $25 corkage fee is WAY excessive, but they waive it with another bottle purchase, so we bought a half bottle of champagne to start off with and avoid the charge. I'm a bit of an Italian food snob and usually only like Italian food when I'm in Italy, but this was excellent! The braised lamb lasagna was not only unusual, but amazing! The agnolloti was fantastic! The rabbit was really good. We absolutely loved this food and would eat here again next time in Reno.

Went here for dinner on NYE. Reservation was at 6:00pm and we were seated promtly on time. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My party started with the cold seafood plater and seared foie gras. Both were excellent. For our entrees, my friends shared the porterhouse (HUGE!) and I had the bone in ribeye. All I can say is WOW! Such an amazing dinner. Very reasonable prices considering it was New Years Eve. Place was packed too. Thanks for a awesome dinner Charlie! We will be back!

Great food and pricey. This is okay as long as we receive such outstanding service as we did for our Christmas Eve dinner. Our waiter handled 2 large parties that were in front of us - along with our wee table for 2 (we were seated at the back of the room) with grace, humor, and right on the spot service. He might have had more tables under his outstanding care, but all I noticed was the delicious food and excellent service that made for a wonderful, memorable holiday meal. I asked if he was working the following evening, since we had reservations for Christmas dinner. My intent was to request seating in his service area for a repeat performance. Alas, he was off duty on Christmas, rightfully enjoying the holiday off. While the food for our Christmas dinner was delicious, we had a different waiter and a completely opposite experience. Our Christmas Eve dinner was a perfectly timed meal. By contrast, our Christmas dinner went well over 2 hours and service was abysmal at best. Our waiter did not have 2 huge parties to deal with (that I could see). Perhaps he was handling a larger service area - but that's a concern that management should address in order to insure excellent service matches a great meal. Our experience began well enough - bread and water appeared within a reasonable time. So far, so good. Our salads arrived, we ate, our plates and cutlery were cleared, our glasses refilled and then...we waited and waited, and then waited some more. At this point, I had to take a "bio-break" after consuming plenty of sparkling water. Mind you, the restrooms are clear across the casino from the restaurant. After returning from my expedition, our entrées were still incognito. We were finally (and kindly) asked by the busboy, if we would like to see the dessert menu!! My mandible hit the proverbial floor (in this case, table top) - I picked up said mandible, reattached it to my maxilla, and informed the busboy that we had not yet received our entrées. His expression of total surprise served to confirm that our wait was indeed, excessive. Our waiter then appeared; apologized for the long wait and made the excuse that, because I went to the restroom, they didn't want our food to get cold. Mind you, we're going on 2 hours now so there is no excuse to be made. Especially one based on my excursion to the much needed restroom (water closet more aptly called in my case.) He brought our entrées and quickly disappeared. With a grumbling stomach (well, not the only piece of my anatomy that was grumbling), I looked down to realize our cutlery had not been replaced... Ah, the crowning glory of it all. Okay, my civility finally flew out the restaurant (there are no windows nearby). I confess that I loudly announced, "We need forks and knives!! Or, shall we just use our hands?" Kudos to the busboy who was quick to apologize (without excuse), brought us our cutlery and we were finally eating our Christmas meal. We did receive the requisite complementary desert. Plus, in honor of Christmas, I received a wrapped up chocolate brownie with a coupon for a small discount toward our next visit. Upon returning back home and opening the brownie, said coupon had an expiration date of 12/31/10....ouch. It is good food, I'd rate CP higher, except the bad experience canceled out the first great one. I'd go back for the food - but not on a holiday and definitely not when it's busy. Dinner at 4:30pm perhaps? Bah humbug!!

Excellent food but a limited Selection. Stiff prices and a per item menu adds up to lots of money fast. Maybe a good place to impress the boss or future in laws but once was enough for me.

Hungry after a day of snowboarding and stupidly thinking that we'd be able to eat at a reasonable time on a Saturday night without a reservation, we were "shocked" when we were told the wait was 2.5 hours for a table at such a low brow joint such as Charlie Palmer Steak. Fortunately, the cool hostess suggested dining in the "lounge" area just outside the restaurant where we could still be served some surf and turf. 15 minutes later, we were seated and chomping on some bread rather than drowning our pangs of hunger with free drinks at the craps table... The menu is on the pricey side, but pretty par for the course in terms of nice steakhouses. I had the Kansas city steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. One of the guys had ordered his steak well done and apparently they interpret "well done" as still being with some traces of blood after cooking it. Finally, the waiter brought out the recooked steak and presented some complimentary side dishes to compensate him for waiting. Lastly, the executive chef also came out to apologize for the wait on the steak. In all, it wasn't a big deal regarding the steak, but it was a nice touch with the complimentary sides and the chef taking the time out to make sure we were satisfied with our meals. Overall, great meal with reasonable prices considering the quality of steak and the service was excellent as expected for such an upscale restaurant in Reno.

Our dinner was the one big exception to our negative experience at the Grand Sierra Resort (See my other review on why not to stay at the Grand Sierra). We had dinner on a Friday night and liked it so much that we came back again the next night for more of the same. Charlie Palmer is a stylish upscale restaurant with top notch service and food. We sat at the bar and Vaughn took great care of us. As an example of the attentive service, my water glass was never less than half full before someone came around and filled it full again. I highly recommend the steamed mussels in the Thai style lemon grass sauce. Use some of the cornbread they provide to dip in the sauce - so good! The Kobe sliders and the beef skewers are other favorites of mine. The fire roasted lobster bisque was a little undersized but heavenly none the less. For the bisque, I recommend the soft white bread for dipping. The filet steak was tender and practically melted in your mouth. Little more can be said, Charlie Palmer Steak was simply a great dining experience.

An LA feel restaurant in the middle of a casino. We waited 15-20 mins after our reservation. 15-20 for a menu. There were a handful of servers doting our our 8 person party and yet everything seemed to take long for each stage. I wanted to try the steak since it was a steak house. The steaks offered are aged 28 days. I asked one of our waiters for kicks if the steaks are aged exactly 28 days. He had no clue but it made him sweat a little. He did go into a long grumesome detailed description of how the aging of the carcass brings out flavor - all the while my stomach churning with disgust "I'm not really supposed to tell you these things" he remarks. Yeaaaa - best keep it to yourself. Needless to say, I had the salmon.

I had been dying to eat here since it opened... And the hubby surprised me with dinner. I was so excited it hurt a little... BUT... It was just ok. I would add 1/2 a star if I could, but can't. The food was ok, but my order was brought out wrong the first time... I can deal with that, I am picky. But the service wasn't very good. Our server wasn't friendly at all and it took 20 minutes just to get a drink. The food came out ok, but it took another 15 minutes after getting our drinks to order our meal. There was however another guy there (wish I had his name) that was awesome. He was a server in another section but could see we weren't having the best time and came right over to cheer us up... It was funny. He was even able to tell me about one of the sauces on the table... It was SO GOOD... That saved the food rating. He saved the night. Also... The place was SO HOT! It was like they forgot what air conditioning was, we actually felt sick from the heat and took turns walking outside the place to cool off... No exaggeration. Maybe it was a fluke, but I probably wont eat here again :(

The first time I ate here I had to laugh at first because the hostess said we couldn't sit at a table, though they never filled up. It was a great fluke though as we sat at the bar with a fabulous bartender throughout the meal. The spaghetti is outstanding, something I crave since. Mushroom ravioli was incredible as were the salads. I ate there again and my friends' pasta was pretty darn good (not amazing) but i forget what he got. I'm picky with pasta as I make killer pasta dishes myself, but struggle to find somewhere that will knock my socks off without having to cook at home. The spaghetti is fit to be craved. A surprising Italian find in Reno, worth checking out.

I took a spur of the moment trip to Reno and wanted to find something to eat in Reno besides the buffets and 24 hour cafes. Lo and behold a couple of new restaurants had opened in the Grand Sierra Resort. Two of them belonging to Charlie Palmer. If anybody knows me, they know that I'm a steak kind of girl, so I opted to try the steakhouse over the seafood restaurant. The steak was mediocre by my standards but I would say that it would be the best steak that you can find in Reno. It did come with a bunch of home made steak/dipping sauces, so kudos for that. We also ordered the Wagyu shortribs. Wagyu is american Kobe beef. I've had Kobe beef elsewhere and it is usually melt in your mouth and super flavorful. Not so here. I think the sauce that the beef was cooked in totally killed any kobe-esque flavors. Another thing that drew me to try this restaurant was that they had a duo of foie gras (pan seared and au tourchon) on the menu. I don't mean to offend you PETA activists out there, but I love me some duck liver. I especially love me some duck liver that is paired with peaches (peach marmalade & peach tartine (yippee!!)). This dish alone would have me coming back....but only for appetizers.

I came on vacation for my birthday. We had a gift certificate for this place so we decided to check it out our first night in. My sister & I received the best service I have ever received! The waiters were extremely helpful and very nice. We ordered drinks & our food and as we enjoyed our salad noticed that it had been awhile since we ordered and our food was not here yet. We didnt make a big deal about it since we were finishing up our salad & enjoying our drinks anyway. Our waiter did notice the wait and immediatly brought it to our attention that he would check on it. A few minutes later the manager came & said he heard we had a long wait for our food and apologized. We told him we did not mind as we were simply enjoying our evening. Shortly after a gentlemen brought us "compliments from the chef" a cracker with some kind salmon spread, I didnt care for it but I thought it was very nice that they made it well aware they had not forgotten about us. Finally our food came and the waiter told us the manager would like to buy us an after dinner drink to compensate for our food being so late. Of course we accepted! After dinner we were so full that all we could do is enjoy our (free) drinks. We were not rushed out & infact the waiter conversated for a little while with us and told us to take our time. He did insist I order my free dessert, but since I was so full he said pick whatever you want & we'll pack it up for you to go. While I looked thru their very short dessert menu, our waiter brought out more free goodies. A dessert plate with 3 kinds of cookies. And once we finished our drink he packed up my birthday dessert as well as the plate of desserts. This was my first time in Reno & I will def be going back to this place the next time I'm in town. They set the standards very high for our following evenings.

Accommodated 20 person party by splitting it up into two parties of 10. Waiter was friendly and answered all/any questions we had about the menu. My Filet Mignon melted in my mouth. I am happy that Charlie Palmer's steakhouse was the first "high end" steak place I experienced. I recommend the Filet Mignon, French Fries, and the mac & goat cheese. Don't let the name fool you the mac & goat cheese was probably one of the best macaroni's I've had.

We recently stayed at the Grand Sierra Resort while passing through Reno. The Charlie Palmer Steakhouse was the highlight of our stay. The service is impeccable. There are several levels of servers to take care of your every need (water, drinks, food etc..). The servers are all very kind and attentive. The food is excellent. We started with the Lobster Bisque which had great flavor but to our dissappointment contained no lobster. Even the bisque at the RL grill in Chicago contains a succulent piece of claw meat. For our entrée we each ordered steak. My medium rare was cooked perfectly and the blue cheese fondue added an extra level of flavor. The signature steak sauce is also excellent. The only negative was that there was some fat within my piece which should not happen in my opinion on a good piece of filet. To accompany our steak we ordered the asparagus which was tender with a delicious, very light mustard cream sauce. They also had an extensive wine selection and I was able to order my favorite (Red Zinfandel) by the glass. I would definitely eat here again.

Briscola is the brand new Charlie Palmer Italian restaurant in the Grand Sierra hotel. A group of three of us ate there last night and it was absolutely superb!!! The service was a little slow, but that was to be expected for a restaurant that is only 2 weeks old. Other than that it was top notch. We started with a Capresa salad that had heirloom tomato's with a deep fried mozzarella cheese ball. Extremely fresh ingredients made this dish. I wanted to get their anti pasta sampler that looked exceptional but we needed to save room for the main course. As for the main course we got a couple small orders of a number of pasta dishes, since we could not decided. Braised rabbit with apricot pasta, Italian sausage, shrimp and red pepper pasta, lasagna, spaghetti with tomatoes and basil, and last a sea food spaghetti with shrimp, clams, mussels, and scallops. They were all amazing, especially the rabbit and sea food dishes. The pasta must be home made because it was some off the best pasta I have ever had. There wine list is extensive but on the high end. They do cork for $25, and mentioned that if you bring in a special bottle to cork AND buy another bottle of wine off their list they will waive the $25. Lastly... the dessert. We shared a fresh fig with honey compote panna cotta that was one of the best desserts I have ever had. You have to try it. Very delicate but also extremely rich and creamy! I can't wait to go again.

Nice spot, service was over the top silly. It seemed like they were just trying too hard. Our head waiter was very polite just not warm. Nothing was jumping out at me on the menu so the waiter suggested I order the appetizer scallop special as an entree, great suggestion. Food was very good. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly (med-rare) as were my scallops. Drinks were reasonably price but wine list seemed a little high. The staff seemed to be fumbling over each other - and not sure who was suppose to fill the water, present the bread, or how exactly to use the table butler... Just seemed a little contrived. Again, food was very good but very spendy and the service took away from the quality of the food.

Best steak I had in Reno. It's not just the steak that makes it the best steakhouse in Reno, the side dishes and appetizers were the best of any steakhouse in town. Great service too.

Nice place but the tables are really close. Since the tables are side by side it can be a little awkward. I had a steak that was pretty good not as good as I had hoped. It was covered with cheese and it made it hard to see the fat that was around the outside. It was a rib eye that seemed more like a NY. I also had Risotto. It was very tasty but was more like flavored rice. It wasn't creamy like good Risotto should be. The food was ok but not what I expected at that price range or from a famous chef.

I have been to this location twice now and both experiences were fantastic. Great food, wine, service, atmosphere (except for the tourists walking around in shorts and sandals -- come on people have some dignity, it's a nice dinner place). After enjoying both this and Dry Creek Kitchen, I can say I am a CP fan.

Good steak but not worth the environment. The service was lazy. And the worst part was that it was a secondhand-smoke filled PIT. Don't believe them when they tell you it's "all nonsmoking." Reminds me of the George Carlin joke about having a "peeing" and "non-peeing" section of a swimming pool. The entire restaurant opens out to the casino, there is no attempt to segregate the air, and they aren't honest about it when you call ahead to ask. We were with other people so we couldn't leave, but the food isn't even close to "special enough" to tolerate the constant perfume of tobacco in the place. And there is no way to get to a rest room without walking the length of the casino. I've been to a lot of restaurants owned by "celebrity chefs," none of whom would have tolerated this ugly and unhealthy an environment. Do yourself a favor and go to a real restaurant.

Even with the various reviews about bad service, mediocre food, etc., my partner and I gave it a shot on Friday nite. The space is very nice, small but well decorated. (Like almost all casino restaurants, the restrooms are on the casino floor, and its always a little discomforting to struggle against the cigarette smoking crowds to the facilities and back). Not many tables, nice lighting and tableware. We found the service, from beginning to end, very fast and efficient. Nobody standing around, and our needs were always attended too. Maybe the bitching about the "team" concept got someone's attention? I though it worked really well, with three different servers bringing us our order. We shared the special appetizer, which was small fresh heirloom "jewelbox" tomatoes in a balsamic dressing sharing a plate with a deep fried cheese "foorball". Sound weird, but tasted damn good - breaded mozzarella stuffed with ricotta. We ordered boring entrees - pork picatta and chicken parm. My picatta was very well prepared , moist and hot with preserved Meyer lemon sauce and plenty of capers. I paired mine with brussel sprouts roasted with pancetta - yummy! My partners chicken was not pounded thin, so it was very moist and flavorful - light breading and a very fresh tasing sauce. Her side of spinich was lightly cooked with lemon juice - also very nice. We shared the "lemoncello" cheesecake at the suggestion of our main server. It was perfect - the cheesecake moist, not dry at all, and very light. The intense "lemoncello" topping, also using preserved Meyers, was a perfect counterpoint to the dense cake. All-in-all, a win for us. Service was quick and we were well attended to. The price for wine is a bit high, but I had a glass of very nice cab for $9 - turned out to be all I needed for this meal anyway. A bottle may be a little pricey here, but the list itself was good. The food was excellent, hot and looked great. The food pricing was correct for the quality and quantity, both were very good. I definately would recommend this restaurant for an upscale experience. (The two business types that chose the veal T-bones (about the highest priced entree) raved over the cut and prep also).

The food and service are good, and the space is pretty nice (although that hanging sculpture of metal shards in the main room is a bit threatening when you're seating under it). I had the petit filet a couple of times, and also the chicken, and they were all quite tasty. But...the wine list is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. When we were there, there wasn't anything in the wine list under 60 dollars. Not even the OK (just OK) california wines that they have on their list. In general it seemed to me that everything in their restaurant was overpriced by about 20%. So, minus 2 stars.

Had dinner here with my buddy since we had a $50 dining credit w/ room deal. The food was superb! We started off with the foie gras and seafood ravioli appetizer. The foie gras wasn't the best I've had, but still pretty good. The ravioli was a deconstructed ravioli with chunks of lobster, shrimp and crab topped with a foam. I didn't catch what flavor the foam was supposed to be. For the main course my buddy ordered the ribeye (medium-rare) and I ordered braised wagyu short rib w/ rissoto. Ribeye came out *perfect*. Center was still a bit dark red/purple. My short rib was so tender it could have been eaten with a spoon! Rissoto was smooth & creamy. Like any other proper steak house entrees were ala carte, so we ordered 4 sides: creamed spinach, 3 cheese mac, Hen of the Woods shrooms, and potatos au gratin. Spinach and Mac were good, but not mind blowing like the shrooms and potatos. The sides are served family style and can be enough for two. After finishing all that food the only dessert I had room for was coffee, which was also excellent. Wait staff and hostesses were super nice and attentive. I would definately go back, but probably for special occasions since the bill was $200 for two.

Went with family and started with great bread and olive oil. Asked the young but not so great server if we could sub fettucini for the penne as I wanted to try their home made pasta, he said I am not sure if the kitchen will do it. Well I am a chef for a living and I know that is not an unreasonable request. Well I think he did not even bother to ask as the penne came, too much of it with a glob of sauce on top..bleh.. The bass with seafood risotto special was tasteless and they loaded the risotto with cheese, a no no with fish and definitely took away from the flavor. Mom loved the caesar, the antipasti platter was decent but did not come with cheese but had on 2 prior occasions when ordered by a guest in our party who had dined there before. The artichokes- dry and not edible. The potatoes were dry too and we took them home to fry in butter. So disappointing for such a delicious looking menu. After a bad meal in Healdsburg I think Charlie Palmer has gone too big, and his kitchens put out mediocre food, will not dine in his restaurants again. I doubt this place will last long.

I absolutely looove this place! We celebrated my husband's birthday here and the food was amazing. We shared the porterhouse which my husband loved along with the prawns which I loved! The bread, the cocktails, the appetizers, the entrees, the ambiance, the service was just great! Our server Brian or possibly Ryan (sorry I didn't post this review soon enough and I can't recall which it was) was fantastic! We WILL be back!!

Went last might with two colleagues and the food was excellent. The wine we chose went well with our steaks and priced fairly. The only issue was when they brought me the wrong steak, the waiter admitted that he was confused by our conversation about their choices. They quickly corrected it and were very concerned for our meal. I could not have asked for the response to be any better. Make sure you get the Dry-aged bone in NY Strip, it is delicious.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
