Came here on the recommendation of a friend, who had a garlic allergy--when he alerted his waiter, they said no problem and made him a garlic-free eggplant Parmesan from scratch. He said it was the best eggplant parm he ever had. Now that I've been there myself, I'm not surprised--it was the best pasta primavera I've ever had, and among one of the better pizzas. First, the atmosphere is charming--the music made me feel like I was in a Godfather movie, and the service was charming and efficient. We even got to meet Stella herself--a loquacious and adorable little girl who helped serve us our utensils. But the best part was the food. We split a pasta and pizza--you can get whatever combination of toppings you want, and they were all fresh and of extremely high quality. The pizza dough was perfectly crispy and the cheese had bubbled over it. The pasta was al dente and clearly homemade, the veggies varied and fresh. Even the olive oil was of obvious high quality. Check it out! You won't regret it.

Love eating at Stella's ! Authentic Italllian with many gluten free options. The atmosphere and service is as good as it gets . Must try the Nora's chocolate cake or the Laura's key lime cheesecake with gluten free crust.

The women that was our waitress was uber patient with us. Explained the specials, offered wine pairings with each dish. I believe she was the only one on, because she was almost running table to table by the end of our meal. We were referred to Stella's from a wine store we had previously been at. I was told that I could order a pizza with everything on it for only 13 dollars. As a matter a fact, you can, although we only chose 3 toppings, and we also ordered a salmon with pesto cream sauce. The salmon was freaking amazing!! We should have ordered two of those instead. Unfortunately the pizza was burnt, like beyond recognition. Our waitress was totally aware of that, and told us as she sat the pizza down that they would put another one in the oven immediately. We were already full from our truffle fries, so we just told her not to worry about it. I would totally have given Stella's 5 stars, but it would have been better for that pizza not to make to our table. I would have rather just got our fish and then be told that they burnt the pizza and there is another coming. That pizza never should have left the kitchen. The salmon was awesome, but the dessert, that was the tits!!! Seriously, order the tiramisu!!! Don't even kid yourself! In fact, order it first!!!! Also, I do believe now that I'm thinking about it, that tiramisu bumped this place back up to 5 stars!!! We were told that her daughter makes the tiramisu. When we were leaving something came over me, maybe it was the drinks, but I gave her a hug and told her to give her daughter one too for that dessert.

Restaurant is across from Plaza. Was a nice change from the normal fast food fare outside from the Plaza. Ordered pizza and it was excellent. Was served sliced bread with drinks. Would of been better if it had been fresh baked. Staff was friendly and courteous. Would recommend.

Awesome food at reasonable prices. Every time we visit Taos, Stella's is always on the list of go to restaurants. Family run restaurant with home cooked recipes that are awesomely delicious! This is the place for italian in taos.

My wife and I asked several people in town for dining recommendations and each was complimentary of Stella's. The atmosphere was delightful in the quaint and romantic dining room. Things went less than expected soon after sitting down when we ordered the Italian Fries. They showed up luke warm with the garnish being three pieces of limp/wilted lettuce. I ordered the Italian Herb Tilapia, which was ok but it tasted like a frozen fish entree we eat at home. The veggies that accompanied the dish were obviously from a frozen Bird's Eye brand bag. My wife ordered the scallop special with rice noodles, which she classified as "just ok." Despite showing up when they opened and when there was hardly anyone in the business, the service was sub-par. Our water glasses were often empty, nobody told us about the complimentary olive bar, and our dirty dishes sat in front of us for more than 20 minutes despite numerous employees passing by us. We then waited for our check for another 15 minutes, despite asking for it at least twice. The couple eating at the next table had to send one of their orders back due to it being cold. From an outside appearance, those who were obviously locals were treated like royalty by being provided prompt and attentive service. I wish we would have found another restaurant to eat at on our last night in Taos.

T-H-E WORST SERVICE EVER!!!.... Let me TELL you. Went there after a long eventful day with six fantastic friends.... We sat, order our drinks... and waited... and waited.. and 'then' ordered our entries... *looking at watch..... still looking at watch* We finally received our drinks (well most of us did).... and continued waiting for another hour for our food. Once some of us got our food... one friend noticed her meatball was undercooked and pink in the center. We addressed this and the guy, without acknowleding if it was okay to take a look swiped her plate and walked away and proceeded to "finger" the food with his index finger...and return to say "oh.... you're mistaken - it's cooked." The rest of our entries come out and we all finally 'try' to enjoy dinner with friends. Except for my friend who's plate was fingered... Well our waitress then comes back flustered and we share the "fingering of food" with her and she says, "I'm sorry but some of us in the back is "SLAMMED"." I ask, "Drunk or on drugs?" She says, "Prolly both." We began to question our plates and she replies... "Well, I can only comp only three of our plates...and that's all I'll do." We then witness the employee getting escorted out of this septic tank by the head cook. We recieve the bill, $93.00... and we begin to split the bill... but then we begin to protest. Long story short..... this place is a complete joke. (Unless you're into getting your undercooked meatball fingered...feel free.)

Once Stakeout closed, my family needed a new go-to restaurant in Taos and I think we found it. The meal begins with bread and access to an olive oil bar with an assortment of flavorings to try while waiting on your food. I ordered a custom pizza, moderately sized (I'd recommend pairing with an appetizer if you are hungry), which comes with up to ten toppings for the price of $13 and was delicious (even fancy-ish add ons of bacon and buffalo mozzarella were the flat rate). The pasta primavera dish was clearly pasta made in-house, with generous helpings of vegetables including green beans, bell pepper, sundries tomato and more with another interesting olive oil to dress it. I could see how service may be an issue during peak hours as this is a family owned and operated type place (keep an eye out for Stella herself, an adorable little girl who will bring you serving utensils or just strike up conversation about her day). But no issues with service here at all, and you've got to love a one star review from someone who didn't even try the food. This just in: The Godfather not a good movie because I didn't like the preview and it didn't end quickly enough.

We were sat promptly after entering the restaurant, but that was the only positive about this experience. Our waitress came over and asked if we wanted anything to drink, and after I replied that water was fine for me, she just walked away, she didn't even look at my boyfriend who was actively looking at the drink menu. From there, we were ignored for 15+ minutes by both the manager (owner?) and both of the waitresses while they managed to check on every table around us multiple times. We walked out after that, so I can't speak to their food. I should add that my boyfriend and I are in our mid-20s and felt that we were being ignored based on our age. There are much better places nearby that are very nice to us, consistently, so we will not be trying again. If you're gonna advertise as beer and pizza in front of your restaurant, you might want to act like you want the clientele that goes with that advertised atmosphere.

My wife and I have been there twice. First time a pizza, not bad. So we went back. I ordered the chicken breast with pasta. Nothing with a home made taste. I couldn't cut my chicken breast with a steak knife. The man brought me another one. Same toughness, left most of it on my plate. Total disappointment. I do not recommend Stellas to anyone.

Eat at own risk. Some reviews say the food was tasty but my meal was ok at best. Immediately after leaving, my wife began throwing up. All in all she threw up about 15 times within the first two hours of leaving the restaurant. We were left with a steep dinner bill and a mild case of food poisoning. Quality of food: 2 Stars Service: 2 Stars Dining atmosphere: 3.5 stars Overall experience: 1 star

This place is owned by the same folks who owned the Bistro, which is now closed because they lost their lease. The food is very decent - great meatballs and pizzas, authentic Italian desserts (panna cotta and other goodies). Prices are extremely moderate if you stick to the basics. Service - and we have been there many times since we are locals - is prompt, efficient and you get free olives/bread with your meal. The outdoor seating is best for us and if you are eating out in the summer you can bring your dog to the outdoor seating area - some people like this, others don't. We do, since we have a dog who loves to go out to dine more than we do.

Homey atmosphere...very Italian. Personable staff, you will feel at home here. Beautiful wine selection, food is always on point. I could spend hours in here chatting with people that make you feel like family.

After a long, hot day of hiking, my husband and I just wanted a place to sit down, have a beer and eat some pizza. Stella's was recommended to us by someone in the hiking store on the plaza. There is a nice little outside seating area that is perfect in the evenings - just let them know you want to sit out there and they will set it up. We went two nights in a row. The pizzas are 10 inches - about the size of a dinner plate. The crust is obviously handmade - crispy with an almost cracker-like taste. Fresh ingredients on top (we chose tomato sauce, onions, jalapenos and mozarella). The arugula salad is incredibly delicious. Staff is attentive and very friendly. Highly recommend if you want somewhere to sit and enjoy a nice meal outside (they also have indoor seating if you prefer) without listening to the traffic on the main drag in Taos.

Had a wonderful meal at Stella's. It started with delicious warm bread. I had the special which was trout over pasta with a light cream sauce. Yum! I would definitely go again!

We had a delicious meal here! I had the pasta carbonara (twice) and my hubby had the cajun pasta. We are gluten free so both dishes were served with our needs in mind. They even have gluten free pizza and desserts. We ordered the GF key lime pie and loved it!

Do not come here if you are Italian or have ever had good Italian food. The waiter was not pleasant, the garlic bread was cold sliced bread with chunks of raw garlic on top (which we were charged extra for), and the eggplant appeared to be frozen slices of grocery store eggplant. The interior decor looked pleasant but we sat outside where my father was shat on by a bird and the waiter responded "that won't be the last time." Literally, a terrible experience.

Awesome authentic Italian food! Service was good and friendly! Selection of wines was very good, not your main stream brands. We had the warm spinach salad and squash raviolis, they both were fresh and amazing!!!

We should have known from the start when we arrived and it took awhile for someone to come and seat us (and there were only about three occupied tables). They serve cold sliced bread to start. Apparently another review said there was an olive oil bar, but the server did not even mention that to us. The waitress had no clue when we asked for wine pairing recommendations and had to get the owner over. I ordered the eggplant parm and hubby had Italian sausage with fettucini. The portion of fettucini was very small and the eggplant parm tasted store-bought with no cheese. As we were waiting for the food, I could hear the microwave oven door slam and beep several times, so it's obvious this is not homemade. As much as the owners are trying to make this look like a high-end place, the food at Olive Garden puts this place to shame (and I don't think much of Olive Garden). Finally, the Godfather posters really work against the nice establishment vibe, and a live band was playing outside drowning out the indoor music. Sorry Stella's - if you want to be a pizza and beer place with live music, embrace it; don't try to be something you're not.

The pizza was okay with very good crust but very light on cheese and sauce. The minute steak was very good. The lamb stew was great. For desert we had the chocolate cake. It was to be served warm with homemade whipped cream. It was a very good cake but unfortunately served cold. The service was okay. I like the quiet ambiance and it is very cozy.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
