When driving into this property at night I thought it was going to be super sketchy but I was so pleased with our stay here! Although the price was a little more than I wanted to spend it was worth every penny. Our room had a beautiful view. The bed was extremely comfortable. It was clean and had lots of towels. Pillows were comfy and plentiful. This inn is absolutely charming! Breakfast was fabulous and even met our gluten free vegetarian needs. The staff was great and helpful in planning our day. If you arrive late be sure to call before the desk closes at six so you can get an entry code to the building. We were late and our key was waiting for us on the front desk desk. It's a wonderful place to stay in Taos. I highly recommend it.

All you need to know is that the proprietor should NOT be in the hospitality business. No air conditioning and was not posted on the website. Lodge is run-down and in disrepair (especially for the room rate)! They make a big deal of asking about diet restrictions/choices and breakfast staff thought pancakes were okay for gluten-free! There are no CHOICES for breakfast. (Price included in room rate.) We didn't even attempt to eat breakfast the second morning. The proprietor went to great lengths to write a handbook for the room about the lodge, employees, and how she became the owner of the facility. However, lots of interactions with staff (and proprietor) showed us that they were fairly clueless as to how to communicate with guests---very frustrating. The TV/DVR is not good at all---TV was very small and in a wardrobe dresser---sound was horrible. There is a vast library of available DVD's available to watch. The Lodge/site are very old, but could really be great. The surrounding landscape is quiet and off-the beaten path. Signage for after dark arrival is non-existent. The property is off a winding small road with overgrowth along the street. The area is pitch-black after dark. Going back to the lodge after dinner in neighboring town was a challenge. We turned into three private driveways before actually making it to the lodge. Siri (iPhone) tells you to turn into the property where there is no road. Front desk is not manned after 6 or 7 PM. Proprietor called me on the day before expected arrival to inquire about the time we expected to arrive. When I told her we had no idea (it's vacation after all), she gave me the 4 digit punchcode to enter the lobby if we arrived after 6 pm. That punch code is printed in the handbook that was in the guestroom. The punch code NEVER CHANGES. Hope you find pleasant lodging in Taos---San Geronimo is NOT GREAT--especially for the charge!

Me and my family were very satisfied with with this hotel. The rooms were great. Our room (#5) was a fairly large ground floor room. They bathrooms were huge. The tv was pretty small but they had a DVD player. They had a wide variety of movies in their DVD collection of about 200 videos. We were happy to find some current movies for my children and some classics for me and my wife. They had many activities. There was a pool and hot tub which was very refreshing. There was a gated off backyard with a patio table. It was a nice place to chat with the other families there while my son and other kids played tether ball. Inside they had board games and outside there was a labyrinth. We woke up to the smell of breakfast being cooked for us in the kitchen. The breakfast is different every day but ours consisted of waffles, scrambled eggs, fruit and potatoes. There was also a help yourself cereal and coffee bar. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the San Geronimo Lodge and we will definitely stay again if in town.

My girlfriend and I stayed here and had an excellent visit. The facility is beautiful, peaceful, and well kept. The staff is friendly enough, and they serve a really solid breakfast each morning. The room and balcony were exceptional, if a bit hot at night. Beware, the signage to get in to the place is though to follow in the dark. All in all, it was definitely worth the visit and I'd certainly recommend it!

B&Bs are good because they have the feel of a quaint, intimate experience that is set within a well-developed structure of professionalism and service. Problems crop up when that sense of intimateness or professionalism are lacking. San Geronimo lodge has potential...but right now it has big problems. In terms of being intimate, the place feels too run-down and messy...the balconies afford no privacy (at least ours and our two neighbors), and the industrial-grade carpet is both responsible for the weird smell and the weirder atmosphere in the room we stayed. We arrived to consider the venue for our wedding, and were generally let down by our experience. It wasn't horrible, just a far cry from the carefully manicured and well-presented idea of a B&B that we got from the website and from our prior experience at other places. Weeds and building supplies were way too conspicuous. The place is closer to a regular hotel experience than a B&B. The reason for some of this comes from what I perceived to be a lack of professionalism. When we met with one of the owners to discuss possible wedding plans, we were not satisfied with most of the answers to questions about why thousands of dollars were being tacked onto the estimate. We didn't understand...and I don't think the owner did either. She alluded several times to the idea that "because it's a wedding" then for some reason she and her staff need thousands of more dollars to handle the event, on top of their rates for rooms and on top of catering fees. We weren't sure what we were supposed to be paying for and the owner really couldn't break it down for us. But we agreed to work out some proposals and see where it went...although San Geronimo was not what we expected, we definitely were still willing to negotiate a deal to make it worth our while. We were told we'd have our proposal in about 2 weeks. ... ... ... Months later we send an email checking in and seeing where we stand, and the owners respond like they've never met us and ask us to look at their boiler-plate policies and to schedule a stay at the lodge. Extremely disappointing and frustrating! My last question for San Geronimo lodge would be: why would I trust you to have any part in the planning of one of the most important days of my life? You didn't remember us after meeting and talking with us for at least two hours. You couldn't manage to get one email out in timely fashion. And finally you couldn't or wouldn't communicate your business fully to me or my fianceé so that we could understand why we should spend thousands of dollars more than we had reckoned on.

Helpful pleasant owners. Very peaceful place with many porches and rocking chairs Utilized hot tub and pool. Excellent breakfast : bagels cereal fruit buffet and some of the best juevos rancheros served up by the full kitchen staff. Had a suite with a comfy king bed and gas fireplace. Will definitely go back.

Located in a rambling old Adobe from 1925 it is located on the outskirts of Taos yet only 2 miles to the world famous Taos plaza. Very quiet and interesting. Dog friendly too. We had a nice spacious room on the ground floor with a gas Kiva fireplace. Everything worked, but the bed was not so good ( needed replacement ). Good breakfasts and nice atmosphere. If you like a quiet, peaceful, homey place you will like it.

The San Geronimo Lodge has the potential for a five star rating but earns only a three at this time while the lodge awaits some updating to the outer rooms. The main house ambles like an old lodge and offers several relaxing common areas. However, on the evening we arrived, the fireplaces were out and the rooms were dimmed making the spaces rather uninviting at an early 7:00 p.m. We arrived at the same time as another family who were clearly disappointed after reading the sign, "Hot tub closed for the winter." It was unfortunate that the website had not been updated with the notice, so these visitors could have made another choice in lodging. When Pam gave me a tour of the main house at the conclusion of our stay, I realized just how nice the lodge was. The upstairs rooms contained kiva fireplaces and offered great mountain views. (The main lodge deserves a better rating than "3".) A small and cozy reading area surrounded by windows seemed a great respite or space to play chess on the over sized board. Charles and Pam surprised all the guests by putting on a New Year's Eve celebration of champagne, sangria, soda, and snacks, and Charles played piano and guitar for sing-alongs with the kids and guests. It was a nice opportunity to meet everyone and enjoy the great room's spaciousness. But the single most enjoyable aspect of our stay lay in the heartfelt hospitality offered by the husband and wife team of Matthew and Armeda. Greeted by them each morning during a hot, delicious, and varied breakfast, this couple has spent the last 14 years holding up the fort and kitchen of the lodge. With updated outer rooms, a puzzle or two spread out in the common areas, and welcoming fireplaces, this inn could be great. Hopefully, we'll be back to see improvements that bump this rating up. In the interim, it's still worth the visit, and it is great for families with their "two queen bed" accommodations.
