After walking for a few hours our party of 7 was tired so we decided to stop here to have some "authentic" Mexican food. We were SO disappointed. At first when we were sat, the table was warped and we didn't even have enough chairs. We had to ask 3 or 4 times be to moved after ordering our drinks and our waitress said "I'm sorry, that's just the table. There is nothing I can do about that." We should have just left then. But we decided to move to another table. Our waitress had forgotten about us for another 20 min. Then when she remembered us, we had to re-order our drinks. Another 20 min later we got the wrong drinks. Our waitress was nice, but there were 2 other waitresses walking around who looked angry at everything. The food was just so-so. It was expensive and not even worth it. :-/

When I lived in Roswell, I would eat here for breakfast every Monday morning - the BEST egg & chorizo breakfast burrito for a little over $5 and it's HUGE! The service was very friendly and the family that owns the place is super friendly and usually walking around the restaurant. Has a homey, small-town atmosphere - favorite place in Roswell!

My absolute favorite huevos rancheros in Roswell. I moved away and the first thing I do when I come back to visit is go here to get huevos rancheros! You have to get it with the green chile stew though! So delicious! Always has a very attentive and friendly staff. Love this place

Great Little Restaurant We expected to go to another restaurant that turned out to be closed, so we happened upon Martin's. The outside doesn't look like much, but inside were a lot of people seeming to be enjoying their lunches. Free chips and salsa was great--all homemade and tasty. The green chili was delicious. Everything else was full of flavor. We left, happily fed for the long drive ahead.

This is a cute little diner type place that we stopped at after visiting the UFO Museum. Out waitress was sweet and the food was tasty and inexpensive. The chips were nicely seasoned and the portion of cheese enchiladas I got was generous. I definitely recommend this place if you want good New Mexican food located downtown near all the alien stuff.

Went here for dinner because we were looking for something different. Awesome choice! Ordered the green chile stew (REALLY nice kick to it) and the chicken fajitas. Felt like I had a three course meal in front of me. Everything was delicious, portions were large and I ended up taking half my fajitas with me, lest I keep eating. Recommend!

Coming from big city, TX---we did not enjoy eating at this popular local restaurant. I had the tostadas...they were limp and bland. The salsa was also very bland. My husband had enchiladas...just "ok" according to him. Atmosphere was stale too.

Stopped for breakfast while traveling. Friendly waitstaff, albeit a little slow. Huevos Rancheros were pretty decent. Refried beans were good. Nice local family owned business.

The red sauce that came with my shredded meat was too spicy so overpowering the flavor of the meat. The refried beans was dry.. sorry

Great, inexpensive NM Mexican food in a dingy setting. The unlimited tostada chips come heated and with homemade salsa--addicting. The red chili sauce is usually hotter than the green sauce. If you can take the heat, have the red chili chicken enchiladas with blue corn tortillas and chopped onion.

Martin's Capitol Cafe, contrary to what others have said, is a very good place to eat in Roswell. Since I moved to Roswell it has become very evident that this town has horrible service everywhere. There are a few exceptions and this place is one of them. Martin's has had consistent reliable friendly service and delicious food that is made as fast as possible. My girlfriend even asked for cream cheese and the waitress was working a large party nearby (20 people) and the waitress admitted to forgetting her request and then promptly brought it out and didn't charge! The small things about service at this place make it enjoyable to return. You're in for a great time and good food!

The chips and salsa were good but it stopped there. Take in this greasy Mexican disaster through a straw and pass it through a screen door. Better yet, save some time and just dump the plate into the toilet. This place is terrible. Go to taco bell instead.

Daughter wanted to show me Roswell, so we found Martin's Capitol Cafe on Chamber of Commerce website. The place was full of hometowners, which is a good sign of what we were in for. The service was good, the waitress provided us samples of the sauces that were available to us. My daughter ordered the sopapilla and loved it. Very hefty portion and came with guacamole, that was very good. I ordered the #9, enchilada, chili rellano, beans and rice, taco. I didn't eat the taco, as I was stuffed from eating the remainder of my plate. I would go to this place again. In fact will mention it to my daughter's in laws for when they come and visit.

This is NOT the best Mexican food in town, it is merely the easiest one to get to when locals are asked for directions. It's basically trucker fare. Huge portions, mediocre service, average taste.

Great enchalladas and chilles rellenos. My boyfriend said the food was more what he was used to (east-coast Mexican food) but his chimichanga was not fried (which he said it was supposed to be). Over all the place is a bit of a dive for ambiance, but very cheap and was recommended by the guy at our hotel as a local favorite. It was "decent".

The food is not that great. The service is slow. The sopapillas have to much dough and are greasy.

Our first time in today for breakfast. Had great chow, real handmade biscuits here. Stirred up by hand in a bowl. I asked. We both had Mex dishes and were quite good. A bit soupy to our tastes, but still very good. Great service too and lots of help with the food selection.

Martin's Capitol Cafe is right on the next block from the Roswell capitol building. The food was pretty good in my opinion. I enjoyed the hot melted cheese on my burrito. I thought the place was a good local style restaurant, no frills, decent food. The best thing was the home made tortilla chips and salsa. It was fresh and tasty! I loved it. Good chips - great salsa! Wonderful chili rellenos though I prefer the batter be not so thick and more crunchy but the filling and flavor were wonderful and the pepper itself was tender, flavorful, and not too hot. Great cheese enchilada and taco but the real star of the meal was their green chili gravy. Exceptional!! Refried beans were very good; rice was OK. Service was unusual but we got our food

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
