Found it okay, just okay. Service was slow, and the restaurant was empty. Seemed a bit pricey considering I got the house special stuffed sopapilla for almost 10 bucks and would have left hungry if I hadn't got a relleno side.

This is our 3rd visit on our NM vacation & we are going to be sad to not have this restaurant within driving distance once we return home! Delicious food, great-attentive staff and beautiful, clean dining room. Wonderful experience.

Fancy? No. Really, really good homestyle food?YES! The Pojoaque chicken was a standout, moist chicken breast smothered in cheesy, green chile-y goodness over rice and beans. Very simple, but great flavor and good size portion. My combo plate with green and red enchiladas and a tamale was very satisfying too.The flan was one of the best I've ever tried. And of course, the sopapillas (served with the meal) were beautiful. Yup. That's how I'm describing them. Bee-you-tee-ful. Don't believe me? Go try it. P.S. for all the veggies out there, they had a pretty decent amount of meat free selections.

Wonderful New Mexican restaurant for vegetarians! From versions of traditional dishes (stuffed sopapillas with beans, rice, veggies, tofu, whatever!) to unique other choices (amazing braised tofu tacos), it's better and more exciting than other such restaurants in Santa Fe. Great chile. Nice service. The atmosphere is bright and a little near a Denny's, but who cares? Super local. Super wonderful.

I wish there were 2 1/2 stars. It's better than 2, but not as good as a 3. The food was good and the staff was nice and attentive. The ambiance needs much improvement. It looks like it's an old Denny's with very little transition to a Mexican food restaurant.

An unexpected jewel. Outstanding SW cuisine in an unpretentious setting. The red chile sauce is superb. Tamales were great. And the fresh sopaipillas were definitely their specialty.

Excellent Margaritas and Mexican Shrimp Cocktails! Heirloom Tomato Salad is also great! Service is wonderful. Don't hesitate to try the Vegetarian Tacos.

We've been eating at the Sopaipilla Factory since they opened. The food is consistently excellent. The entire staff is always cheerful and the service is unbeatable.

Average food with very friendly service. The menu is interesting and has lots of options. The main problem is that I could tell that food was not made fresh because all our plates were hot, but the food was barely warm (we were a party of six). Needless to say I had to return my tamales to get heated. They did so with a smile and the meal was substantially better after that. The stuffed chile was also not fresh which is vital when items are deep fried. I believe that the green chile sauce was potentially below average. By contrast, the red sauce was very good.

It took me moving away from this area to realize that this is a solidly good (though not, necessarily, great) Mexican restaurant. I finally came back after being gone for 5 years, making a specific point to stop here for the sake of nostalgia. I'm pleased to say that the restaurant is as I remembered, with comfort foods cooked well in a pleasant and friendly environment, all at an affordable price. My sopaipilla tacos were lovely -- and well more than I could eat, even though I was famished. The complimentary sopaipillas for dessert are always excellent. If you're in the Nambe and/or Pojoaque areas, you should come by for a quick meal. It's worth your time.

Tezi's Grade: B+ Jeremy's grade: B Location: Santa Fe, NM (out near Tesuque, Northern SF) Theme/style: Mexican (authentic) High points: Salsa was very good. Low points: Mixed salad was of the very low quality, primarily due to the so-called blue cheese dressing which tasted more like ranch. Salad was fresh but lacked any real appeal to Jeremy. Food: Starter salad already mentioned. Chips and salsa were delicious and though we had to pay for them, when we asked for extra salsa, they brought out an ample portion at no extra cost. We shared our entree, which was a light combo plate, the Espanola. It was a ground beef, bean, and cheese burrito, and chicken enchilada (with beans and rice). It was a good portion, very tasty sauces. Overall delicious entree. The atmosphere: To JJ, felt like Denny's. Didn't feel like a Mexican restaurant. There was a fish tank next to our table. *Not a first choice to entertain guests. The service: People were very friendly and responded to all needs satisfactorily. Good service and generous. *Tezi tried dos equis (XX) for the first time.

I wanted something close to my hotel and authentic. Well I got close, but I have had much better food. It seemed bland to me and the only flavor was the green chili.

Casual and very good food, a combination I'm a big fan of. The service was very good as well. We enjoyed chicken nachos which were good. The salsa was good too. My teenage son had shrimp fajitas which he said were good, not great. The sopaipilla ice cream and strawberries dessert was a big hit with the entire table.

Loving this place that opened recently. Prices are very reasonable, $10 entrees- plus they are super veg friendly, with a marineed tofu quesadilla as my current favorite option. Homemade food, nice friendly servers, plus we had a few margs there the other night and they were generous with their pour. A value meal but better than value food, sopaipillas come with every meal. Ambiance is austere, but the sangria warms things up just fine. We will be back again soon. Keep up the good work.

Good solid meal. The special touch was the sopapillas served with dinner. We also had sopapillas for dessert, and they were excellent. We were surprised that there was a $5 charge for chips and salsa, but they were pretty good, so glad we ordered. I had tacos, which seems simple enough, but they were delicious. Would go back here.

Noms. What a neat, little, yummy find in Pojoaque. It much operates like a diner, and has a diner feel to it - which means, the menu is expansive, the service is down-to-earth, and there are locals always milling about the restaurant. We came with a large party of 7, and we ran the gamut of what we ordered... from menudo to the vegetarian sombrillo light combo to stuffed chicken sopapillas to enchiladas with over easy eggs atop to much more. Everyone was really satisfied with the meals, and hardly anyone had food left on their plate (I was the buzzkill and left most of my veggie tamale there, because it tasted only okay, and I filled up on chips and salsa already). Obviously, by the title, they focus on sopapillas here, which are served both with honey as well as honey butter. Like I started this review, noms.

Food was pretty decent. I've had better mexican food in my life, but the service was great. Really sweet and attentive staff. Be careful though - chips and salsa ain't free.

We had just finished a 4 day hiking trip and stopped in Pojoaque to fill up on gas. Boyfriend's dad says "find us a good place to eat," so I turned to Yelp and this place popped up with good reviews and it was right across the highway, so off we went. The restaurant itself isn't impressive or charming in any way. It looks like a small town diner. We placed our drink orders and then I took a look at the menu and flipped the page to discover an entire page of Vegetarian options! Definitely off to a good start. One of us ordered La Tampiqueña, which was a sirloin steak/enchilada combo, 3 people ordered fajitas (both chicken and beef) and I ordered Yogi's tacos (three soft blue corn tacos filled with tofu, served with guacamole, tomatillo salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, and a side of beans.) We were also given some complimentary sopaipillas. I didn't try any of the fajita or the steak, but everyone cleared their plates. Boyfriend recommends stuffing the sopaipillas with fajita filling, claiming it to take the fajitas to a "whole new level." My tacos were awesome. Tofu in tacos doesn't sound like it should be good, but these were. The tofu was marinated and cooked perfectly and had a good texture. I drizzled some tomatilla sauce, guac, and some pico I stole from my boyfriend's dish over the tacos. So good! The only complaint I had was that the tortillas weren't really flexible and I overstuffed the first two so they fell apart and were a little messy to eat, but the taste made up for the inconvenience. After we finished our meals, we unanimously decided the sopapillas were too good to not order another round, so we ordered 3 cinnamon sugar ones to split amongst the five of us. Topped with butter and honey, they were amazing. I wouldn't try to box these up though -- I feel they lose their magic the less fresh they become. This will definitely be our future pre-/post-hiking food stop from now on.

Stopped by there quickly to grab a bite to eat. The albondiga soup was pretty tasty. Service was good. All in all a nice local restaurant.

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Pojoaque and since it is always busy, I think others must feel the same!! We enjoy eating here when traveling back from Ojo Caliente! They have many vegetarian dishes to choose from which is often hard to find in the local restaurants. The food and prices are excellent ! If you are visiting Santa Fe, it is worth the trip out of town... about 20 minutes or so...

Okay... The food was average, as the whole restaurant was. The desserts were probably the best part, the serving of the Strawberries and Cream Sopapilla is pretty big.

I luv this place ;) down-home atmosphere and great sopas . . so yummy that i went back the second day during my visit to santa fe and ate there again. it was a little more than i expected $$, but worth it for fresh, good food.

Great food, awesome sopaipillas and the only reason it didn't get 5 stars was what I call the "chips and salsa ambush". Unlike 99% of all other mexican restaurants, they are not included with the meal, what's worse is they're not $1 or $2 but $4.50. Just kind of rubbed us the wrong way as we weren't notified of this unexpected charge. I've been there several times before and this was the first time it happened. In any case, you'll have a good experience if you avoid this surprise but if you still want to get chips, do the chips+guacamole for less than a dollar more.

We took a chance on this place on our drive from Albuquerque to Taos. I'm glad we went for it. I was very pleased with the overall experience and New Mexican cuisine. Excellent service and a very friendly wait staff. Everyone had smiles and was incredibly nice to us gringos. I was wondering what poposa tasted like and asked the waiter for a description. Instead, he offered to bring out a free sample. It was good, but I didn't think I could eat a whole bowl of it. Instead I went with a sopaipilla with green chili, the chicken vege combo. I ordered half of it with red sauce, but ended up not eating most of that half because it was too spicy for me (wimp, I know). The highlight of the meal, however, was the fried bread with honey butter, which came as an added side with the meals. It was amazing! A perfect sweet treat. My iced tea with lemon was also nice. The decor was low key New Mexican inspired with a classic diner feel. I recommend!

Start with the albondigas soup, filled with meatballs and veggies with just enough bite. We tried the sopapilla stuffed with chicken and veggies, covered with cheese and the carne asada which arrived smothered in onions and cilantro. We prefer more sauce on the carne asada, but the sopapilla was perfect. We even tried the ice cream stuffed sopapilla topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Got a birthday? OMG! Five stars - try this place I'd you're headed to Taos or Los Alamos.

Delicious. Large servings. Fresh food. The grilled cheese with roast beef sandwich keeps our toddler happy these days. Many vegetarian options, including very good blue corn taco plate. The 3 tacos come stuffed with sauteed bell peppers, zucchini, corn, tiny bits of carrot and broccoli, and delicious cheese. Accompanied by a side of pinto beans, Spanish rice, and some salsa. It's so satisfying. The sopaipilla-lovers I know are very fond of the sopas here. Hot, fresh, not overly oily. The ceviche appetizer is spicy and delightful, served in a tall sundae glass with a side of Saltine crackers. Service is not always super-fast, but it is always very friendly and accommodating. The management and wait staff have been remarkably patient and kind the few times I have been there with a tired or crabby small child.

Very tasty drinks (the Swirl is delish!!) great food, and decent atmosphere. We have been here a few times and always enjoyed it, but this last visit we ordered the queso as an appetizer... I would avoid that. Pretty much melted Kraft cheese.

Obviously a friendly place with plenty of locals, but it's nowhere near as good as some of the New Mexican food we got in Santa Fe. My wife's green chile cheeseburger had surprisingly tasty beef, but they forgot the green chile and we had to add it afterwards, a messy endeavor, not nearly as good as if they'd assembled it correctly in the first place. Tortilla chips were deliciously salty, but guacamole was only so-so. I did like the wide array of vegetarian options and contented myself with a combo plate. But the green and red chile just weren't as flavorful as Tia Sophia's or the Tecolote Cafe's. And the sopaipilla was just embarrassing. I had thought that they called themselves the sopaipilla factory because they specialized in sopaipillas. Apparently it's actually because their sopaipillas have a pre-made, assembly-line quality to them. I'm not even sure mine was fresh.

First off I would like to thank everyone that gave the Sopaipilla Factory high ratings as we were only passing through the area and this was the first suggestion for Pojoaque that came up. Sopaipilla Factory hits the spot. The food was great. I had a sopaipilla stuffed with ground beef, one son had the tamales, and the other had tacos. I tried a little of everything and it was all good. The waitress also bought out some puffed up sopaipilla as a snack. It came with butter on the side flavored with honey. Yes the decor is a bit dated but this place does the job, especially is one is tired of paying through the nose for the same cuisine a little further south in Santa Fe. The restaurant was clean, bathroom was clean, and the waitress was nice. Five stars for being a great place for a family to stop, with good value food, in a pleasant setting.

Yummy, awesome vegetarian and vegan options there were so many veg options it was hard to choose I'll just have to come back and try them one by one ;-) I had the sombrillo which was a vegan tamale with black beans, and an enchillada with tofu and avocado yummmmmmmmmmmmm there were amazing hummingbirds feeding outside amazing place and friendly patient sever gave us all separate checks I'll be back!

Best sopapillas of anywhere in northern NM. The green chili is also very good. I always order the green chili stuffed sopapilla or the fajitias. Everything I have had on the menu is outstanding.

After reading the other Yelpers, we thought The Sopaipilla Factory looked like the best option in Pojoaque. It was great. OK - the booth decor is a bit dated, but the restaurant was clean and well organized. The staff (host, server & manager/owner) were super friendly and helpful. The waitress graciously let me order three different enchiladas for my plate.... Roast beef, ground beef & chicken. Most all the food was very good. Ground beef enchilada almost reminded me of Chorizo in terms of texture and with a slightly spicy almost cinnamon flavor. It was my favorite. The chicken enchilada was also good. Unfortunately, the roast beef enchilada was too gamey for me. But, there was still plenty of food. The rice & whole pinto beans were a nice accompaniment to the plate. The red chili had good flavor and a light burnt. The green chili was bland, but it added good texture on top of the enchiladas. Sorry to say, the sopaipilla was just OK - a bit greasy and not terribly hot. But, it worked with dipping either the honey or red chili. My partner ordered the stuffed sopaipilla with guacamole. After digging in, we couldn't seem to find the guacamole. We asked for extra and the manager/owner dropped it off very quickly. It the nicest of ways, he asked if perhaps the missing guacamole was buried inside the stuffed sopaipilla? Turns out he was right. But, he said, "No problem, please have this extra guacamole on the house." The guacamole was not epic like Gabrielle's, but it was fresh, tasty and worked well with the meal. We would recommend The Sopaipilla Factory.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
