Not every small town can boast a hibachi and sushi restaurant! I loved seeing the Texas meets Japan options like steak and chicken sushi rolls. I would be happy to do a birthday or special dinner here.

We (hubby and I) eat at Tokyo on a regular basis, usually split a spicy crab meat tower on their special menu along with some type of sushi roll. We've never had anything bad there and the service is pretty good depending on the crowd for the Hibachi tables.

Well, I can't hope a lot from a sushi house somewhere in SE NM, but there aren't a lot of choices around 3 hours drive from Hobbs. Food is too salty - couldn't taste anything else but soy sauce and salt on my fried rice and the steak came with it was at room temperature by the time it arrived on my table, although the service is quick and very good.

Nasty meal and nasty service. I have no idea why the tables and chairs were so sticky. I had to go wash my hands before I could look at the menu. Then, as soon as I returned, the waiter hovered asking if I still needed time. Whatever! I quickly ordered the salmon off the lunch menu. They don't have bento boxes for lunch so that's the best I could do. The accompanying onion soup tastes like water from a coffee pot. The salmon was so oversalted as if it had drowned in soy sauce. I couldn't eat it at all. The waiter took offense, when I finally was able to get his attention, and told him that it was nasty. He said lots of people liked it that way! Ha, afterwards, everyone I spoke with said the same thing, unprompted, "That place is too salty!" Frankly, I don't know why anyone would eat here. Nasty!!!

Good for the area but can't compare to bigger city restaurants.

Our favorite place for a date night! There isn't much as far as restaurant variety in Hobbs, but Tokyo has definitely upped the game. Sushi is fresh and well-prepared, hibachi is always perfectly cooked, and their soba is to die for. Definitely go before 4, though, since the dinner price jumps from 8-12 to 12-20, to receive not much more food and a couple of shrimp.

I reserve 5 stars for the extremes. So when I give 4 it means I really liked the place. We are in town for day 2 of TEEX training and are hitting all the top spots in Hobbs. The place is in a Big Lots shopping center but when.we walked in we were suprised with the number of people in there. many were waiting on the hibachi as there were only three chefs. we opted for a booth and were seated immediately. Young, our waiter busy but attentive and courteous. I ordered the Osaka plate (see picture) which was as good as it was huge. That and 2 large sakes was all I could do. I think for Hobbs it is one of the better places in town. in Houston or Austin, it would be average if not slightly above.

First of all I am not a rice person, so saying that here goes! I first ordered the Crawfish Rolls( I love crawfish) expected some kind of crawfish bread...nope...sushi!!! Never had sushi before so what the heck!! It was actually good! I then ordered the shrimp dinner. The only thing that was good was the sushi!! Nice environment though!

I loved it! We went for sushi and the fish was fresh and prepared well. My favorite was the jalapeño roll so far. Waiter said if I liked that the Hobbs roll would be a good one to try. I'm appreciative of his input and will be back to try it. Although I didn't try it the hibachi grill looks great too. Will have to come back! Best place I have eaten in Hobbs so far!

I wish I could give 3.5 stars only because there aren't many sushi/asian spots to go to in this small city. First time I came here was a week after they opened, it was very busy and no one came to our table for over 15 mins. I had to ask the young gentlemen if someone was going to serve us. We only ordered sushi and not the hibachi part which was a big mistake. Or maybe it was just a bad night from them because I ended up getting sick from it (and I ordered the cooked sushi)! Although I got sick, I decided to give this place another chance but try the hibachi. Hibachi is very delicious! I will continue to go but only for the hibachi because of my experience with their sushi. Go before 4pm to get their lunch prices.

One word...EXCELLENT. I've had Japanese food in Japan itself, and this restaurant rivals any I ate at in Japan or Hawaii. It's not just food...sit at a hibachi table and experience culinary art!

This was great. I usually spend about $35 just for myself, that gets me 4 pieces of sushi and a couple of rolls. I ordered the Tokyo platter and for just $4 more I got 8 pieces of sushi, 2 regular rolls, and 2 specialty rolls. A great deal and everything was fresh and the plates were fun. Isn't that what Sushi is all about?!!!

If I could give them no stars I would, as far as I'm concerned the only reason the get a star is because the hostess was very friendly. The waiter "summer" was pushy and I could barely understand him! The food was just okay the beef tateki was over cooked and the "Hobbs dinner" was also over cooked and I felt extremely ripped off! They should put pics of the food on the menu I was expecting a steak and lobster instead I got a sorry ass excuse for wannabe fried rice! Everything was chopped up some pieces were about a half inch square but size varied quite a bit the smaller pieces were way over cook the larger ones were actually med. well, I ordered med rare! The same with the veggies, some were mush while others were hot but basically raw! The beef had no seasoning and for the love of God what was the point of chopping up the lobster and leaving the shell on the plate! The only reason this place gets by is because it's in Hobbs! In LA or Denver this place would totally be a hole! And there required 18% tip, HA! They should be happy to get the lint out of my belly button! Save your money and eat at chilli's, I've had better fried rice at combo a, combo b spots!
