I LOVE Thai Tip! I was turned on to Thai Tip two years ago when a coworker took me there for lunch and have been going there regularly ever since. I've had the teriyaki fried rice and the pad Thai. Both are consistently amazing and very well prepared. I know I should try other menu items there but I can't seem to break from those two. I have taken my wife and a few friends here and like myself, they feel this is the best Thai in town. It's worth going to even on our days off and need to drive 1/2 way across town.

Work friends took me to lunch at Thai Tip since they know I like spicy food and I'm still new in town. We got there early since they apparently fill up fast but we were able to be seated right away. The menu looks like your pretty typical Thai food. They have the stir-fries, the curries, the rice dishes, etc. I went with my go-to Thai food, Hot Basil. I was told that, despite my spice tolerance, to go with New Mexican Hot instead of Thai Hot. In general, there is a difference between tolerating a spice level and liking it. New Mexico hot was perfect. Very spicy but I still enjoyed the food. The servings were generous and the presentation was pretty nice. The shaped the rice into a heart which was a nice touch. They were also great about keeping my water glass full. We didn't have to wait for a table nor did we wait too long for our food but it was getting pretty full, pretty quickly. The atmosphere is kind of what I expected. A bit hole-in-the-wall but still clean. My meal was about $12 which is kind of on the higher side but not too bad.

If the menu says in big bold letters that pre-orders are encouraged, this should be taken as a sign of how excruciatingly slow our dinner service was going to be. We went early on a weeknight and the dining room was nowhere near full and yet it took forever to get served the most basic of dishes. Apart from the slow service, the food is passable at best. The pad thai was way too saucy and disgustingly sweet and the tom kai was very bland.

My friend invited me to join her here; she said it gets really busy during the lunch rush, so she recommend that we go before or after the rush. She also said that the hot option is super hot, so she said that I may want to start off with the mild first just to see how hot the mild was. It was at that point that I was scared of the hot. [Ha ha ha.] The sissy in me does not want that hot of a dish, for I am going to flavor rather than torture. Our lunch was delicious. It was served quick enough because we arrived after the lunch rush. I was so impressed that I wanted my husband to come back with me on my next lunch visit. He agreed. Yet, he wasn't as impressed as I am, but at least he thinks this place is A-OK. As do I. Three to four stars. I like the noodles and curry. If you are hungry, you can finish a dish all by yourself. Aaaahhhh. Now I am craving Thai food.

Everything I have tried has been excellent! Absolutely the best Thai in ABQ, and I've tried 99% of the Thai restaurants out here. The lo mein is lovely, chow mein, cashew chicken, pineapple curry, the pad thai, basically everybody is great. Haven't met a bad dish yet.

Thai tip has its flaws, its small and sometimes takes a bit, but they sure know how to cook Thai food. They are especially good at SPICY, which is my favorite flavor. It's hard to go wrong here unless you get stuck waiting for a table during lunch time

Yum. I had the pad Thai andit was the best I've had probably. . The fried tempura was great! Green iced tea to die for. Now the bad part. ...18 bucks for lunch is a little steep. But as occasional treat, I'll do it again. .

EXCELLENT Thai food. They have the best thai food and not just in Albuquerque. Tip and her staff really do a great job. I always love her Thai coffee, Yellow Curry Chicken (NM Hot, love that burn), and a mango/kowneuw dessert. My family and i have been frequenting this restaurant since the beginning due to the quality of the food. The only downside is the restaurant is kind of small and when they get busy (which is most of the time) it is definitely noticeable. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you're getting.

Wow! I complained how horrible the Thai food in Albuquerque was that was until I came to Thai Tip. This place is tucked away in a older shopping center so I would of never of guessed to stop by if it wasn't for a co-worker of mine who ranted and raved about this place. The food here is cooked fresh also the portions here are definitely enough for 2 people only down fall to this place is it could take a while to get your food. It took 45 minutes for me and my co-worker to get our food so I guess plan accordingly if you come on your lunch break.

If the main course is as good as the calamari appetizer, I'm in for a treat! It's set my expectations very high! Oh yeah. Psd Thai was great!

So delicious!!! We had the soup, something with beef and coconut milk. I will be driving across town again for this soup. Excellent service. Sticky rice and mango was perfect. A bit pricey, $11/12 for a bowl of soup, but to be fair, it was delicious.

I would give it 7 stars if I could. Food is simply awesome. Friendly service. I go to Albuquerque for work about once a month, and always look forward to a meal there

Maybe I got the wrong dish, but I'm not really enjoying the Chicken Cashew. Too sweet and nothing like I've tasted at numerous other Thai restaurants. It tasted like a Thai version of Sweet n Sour. Not enough Thai-nuanced flavor. I'm not from here so I won't get another chance to order something else. That's too bad.

Little hole in the wall place but it's clean and probably the best Thai food in town, everything is always fresh and tastes amazing! Great variety on their menu, and the service is very good.

Probably on of my favorite restaurants in Albuquerque! They will do the spice at any heat from what I call "white girl spicy" to "New Mexican spicy" to "Thai hot". Their pineapple curry is one of our favorites!! Sweet pineapple in a yellow curry with chicken or shrimp! So good!!! The stir fried silver noodles is my favorite! They are sweet thin clear noodles cooked with all kinds of veggies! I love it best with beef :) The pineapple fried rice comes loaded with chicken and shrimp and pineapple and cashews and is AMAZING With the pineapple curry! Other things we have enjoyed include the chicken with cashew, spicy noodles (although, I enjoyed them cold more than hot) and the mini egg rolls. I'm sure other things on the menu are amazing, but we have found our 3 favorites, and it's hard to stray from those. The food is consistently fantastic. The waiters are always very pleasant and the atmosphere is cozy! I will eventually try their sticky rice, but it'll have to be ordered first, cuz I'm always to full at the end of the meal! Hope you enjoy it was much as we do!

Food review: The main positive about the food is that their portions are huge. But what is a huge portion to me when the food is mediocre? I would rather pay a little extra for amazing taste than pay for heaping amounts of food I know I can't finish. Their Pad Thai was just okay. It was bare. Our plate had so much noodles and not enough toppings. The taste wasn't that good and we were disappointed. Their ratio for tamarind was really off because our pad thai tasted sour. This belongs in our bad tasting pad thai list. Their fried rice was also okay. it wasn't tasty. Their panang curry was good. I liked the taste but the presentation and others besides the meat were lacking. Service review: Service was great. The gentlemen checked on us and it was nice. We liked the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. It reminded us of our favorite Thai restaurant in California. Overall, we won't be back to this place because we will try other Thai restaurants. So far, we really, really like TaraThai even though it's more pricey. But like I said, we are willing to pay more for taste than for huge portions that lack quality taste.

Wow is the only word that could describe the food and experience. The food was delicious, I am a huge fan of spicy food. I did not venture the thai hot but did get the NM level of spiceness and it definitely cleared out my sinusitis that day. I had the eggplant stir fry and shared the silver noodle stir fry, both were very good. Thai Iced tea was made perfectly as well. Our waitress was very attentive and made the whole dining experience wonderful.

Thai tip is by far my favorite thai food in Albuquerque! The pineapple curry with shrimp is so incredible I have been here numerous times, and order the same thing everytime! As a warning the medium spice level is as hot as i can handle! Save room for dessert because the mango sticky rice is delicious. Love the staff here as well they are always friendly.

After seven days on the road of Mexican Food every evening, which we love, it was time for a change. We chose Thai Tip. Both Chicken Curry Rice and the Steak Salad with Thai dressing were excellent. See pictures. Thai Tip is a small place with limited seating, so you may wish to carefully time your visit. Suitable for groups up to 4-6. You choose the degree of hotness. I like hot and spicy, and medium hotness was perfect. Servers were all young yet attentive. Small Gripe: No beers on tap. Only bottled beer. No larger bottle sizes, common in most Thai restaurants. If you think this review with photos is useful, funny or cool, I'd appreciate your feedback by clicking below.

I would have to say....LOOK ELSEWHERE! This place was a little too high priced for what we got (13 bucks for soup with NO rice on side). We ordered the Tom Kha soup, and it was too spicy for us and did not have enough meat. We didn't like the flavor (we make Thai at home and go out to Thai 3x monthly) and also didn't appreciate the server did not check back in after dropping off the food (we wanted to get some rice to tone down soup). We had planned on ordering more after the soup but the service was terrible because there were a low amount of people in restaurant (2 tables) and took close to 45 minutes to get soup out and no water refill til we tracked down server and asked! We decided to just leave and go to another restaurant after the soup. We will not be back, too many other options in town, with much friendlier service and better food. Don't waste your time with a place that doesn't care about service and has higher priced Thai food then most other ABQ restaurants.

The service was absolutely fantastic. I wasn't so impressed with the food, but I've been spoiled a bit by a Thai friend showing me good places at home in Seattle. The portions are huge, which is neat if you want to take home leftovers. The flavor was pretty decent, but the sauce on my pad kee mao was nearly gelatinous (the kind of xanthan gum thickness you get in cheap Chinese) and both the wide rice noodles in that and the smaller noodles in my partner's pad Thai seemed to be a bit overcooked - but then we came midafternoon, so that might have had something to do with it. The mango fried rice, which we ordered after our server told us mango was in season, was absolutely fantastic. Overall the food was adequately fresh and well spiced.

  • LJ E.

The service was pretty much terrible. The food was really great, I enjoyed what I got (although it was a little bit oversweet for my tastes, but I digress). However, our waiter was very inattentive, sloppy, and slow. It just kind of ruins the experience. I don't know if we will be back here. It wasn't even busy (two other tables were occupied) and yet it took us over an hour to get in and out just because of the slowness of our server. In some cases, the food somewhere is so overwhelmingly amazing that, bad service or not, you're gonna think a restaurant has the sun shining out of it's behind for the rest of eternity. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.

Not going to lie, I have tried about everything on the menu.. No complaints here! Fantastic food! Fantastic service! Been out here in California for awhile now and have not yet found anything comparable to Thai Tip! Spiciness always on point! Defnitely a place I eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner when I am back in New Mexico!

Excellent food as always. Richard runs a good restaurant. My favorite dish is Chillis with Hot Basil. They will make it with half meat and half veggies. All the vegetables are fresh. It is a great tasting healthy meal. Way to go Richard!

We been there several times. The food is always excellent and the service very good. You can order everything no chili, mild, medium, New Mexico hot, or Thai hot. NM hot is very, very hot. I've started ordering medium. My favorites are the yellow curry, pad Thai, and the tapioca pudding.

  • Denise M.

I really like this place. I usually get the spicy basil noodles. The pineapple curry is really good too. They don't mess around with spice. I always get Thai spicy and it's awesome for people who crave spice and can't find it anywhere else. I once ordered EXTRA Thai spicy and I could do it but will definitely stick to just Thai spicy from now on.The spring rolls are boring. (There is no cilantro or mint or basil or anything just rice noodles, shrimp cut in half and lettuce.) The satay is decent. One thing drove me crazy. There was a fat manager type guy standing around when the restaurant was packed and he was literally doing nothing. It was distressingly obnoxious. I wanted to help the poor servers bus tables. The prices are a tad high for what I've normally paid for Thai food but it's worth it. It's consistently one of the best Thai places I've been to ABQ.

I come here often for lunch as its close by my work. It's a small.establishment so make sure to get there early to find a seat especially.during lunch and I would not recommend this place for groups of five or more during the lunch rush. I've tried several dishes and I always go back to the pad king dish with chicken of course being that I am a fan of fresh ginger. Usually.I can eat half and I have enough leftovers for lunch the next.day but I can finish it off if I'm.really hungry. Their pad thai.is . Also a good choice. They have a range of hotness, I usually get.medium and that's a good amount of heat for me as I tend to like my food pretty spicy. This is a place I will keep coming to for my.thsi fix.

Worth all the hype. Best thai food in town and I've tried them all, delicious potstickers and BEST curry in town. I am going to take everyone I know here (: Three things on the menu I LOVE in order; eggplant curry #1, pineapple curry and mussaman curry.

Been to about 5 Thai establishments in this town, by far the best of the best! Do beware of the Thai Tip fried rice, it has......wait for it....BACON! yep, bacon in the fried rice....but, even though it's just as addictive as what Walter White peddled for so long, it's priced such that you can feed your addiction, although your pansa may grow more quickly than normal..... I'd list off all the items that we ordered (large party) but really, every single thing, from the curries, to soup, to dessert, everything was top notch. Thankfully, I have learned a modicum of self restraint, so I went home with more than I actually ate, which translated to lunch for each of the next two days. literally. service is nearly perfect, which in Abq i think translates to "well above average," so i've no complaints. Yes, you'll probably pay close to $15/person for soup, entree, & dessert, tax, & tip, but when you consider that covers two meals per person (as EVERYONE will be taking leftovers home), actually a darn good deal. No, actually it's a steal. :)

Everything you've read about the spiciness of this place? All true. It's hot. Take that for granted. Great food. I like the Thai salad.

I sadly live in Amarillo. and have only found one Thai restaurant that is mildly acceptable. Thai Tip is like my Thai fix mecca in ABQ. I have a high tolerance for spice and find the medium to be good. I could do spicy but it would be involve extra hydration and face sweat. They have NM hot which is a step up from medium and it's good. Hubby gorges on the Pad Thai. I go between panang curry and kra pow. I am giving 4 stars because this place is snail slow. We normally order takeout and always order ahead. Maybe slow is part of the charm...

  • John G.

Here's some advice about this place: When the waiter inevitably tells you that their food is hotter than other Thai places, believe him. The folks at Thai Tip are not fucking around when it comes to spicy. I can do Thai hot at most places, but I could barely stand the rank below that here (New Mexico hot). Hot here is seriously hot. Medium is seriously hot. Don't be that guy (there's always one) that ignores the waiter's warning and then gets food that is way too hot for him because he's too macho to back down. Nobody likes that guy. Thai Tip has few surprises on their menu, offering all the favorites and all the usual suspects. You know, curry dishes, noodle dishes, soups. Everything was very good. Rich, creamy red and yellow curries, tender vegetables, and quality meat makes the curries dishes a favorite of mine. Some of the noodle dishes were a bit bare-boned, usually consisting of a ton of thick, dense noodles with just a little meat and veg. Everything we ordered could have used a bit of extra veggies to fill the entrees out, as they bordered on being a bit boring. Of the four dishes we ordered, only one had more than one kind of vegetable in it. The fish cakes appetizer was amazing though, I would highly recommend them if you like scallion or potato pancakes from other places. Portions are above average, but there's not much variety to the ingredients in any given meal. That was a little disappointing. On the downside, the prices are a bit rough. A lot of things were about 3-4 bucks more than I would pay elsewhere, and, sadly, there are plenty of better Thai places. The food was good here, but nothing really blew me away. Well, except the spiciness of everything. And perhaps the fish cakes. I may try again at lunch, but I doubt I'll have dinner there again.

I ate here recently with friends. The food was fresh, and they make the spiciness to order. I ordered eggplant with shrimp and there was plenty of shrimp. Very nice little place.

This review may seem a little biased, as this is my favorite restaurant, but so be it. Thai Tip serves profoundly delicious food that is all prepared to order nothing sits around waiting for you to show up. On the one hand this means it is incredibly delicious, however this does mean that sometimes it takes a while to get your food out to you. I however do not see this as a drawback as the extra time spent the restaurant is more than made up for with the quality of the dishes. The staff, John, Tip and Richard primarily, are all very very friendly and have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome. I accidentally discovered this restaurant during its first few weeks of operation but thanks to that serendipitous discovery I've had many wonderful meals since.

We had Chicken Pad Thai and Ginger with Chicken. The Pad Thai was good but not great and the Ginger with Chicken was mediocre and my friend would not order it again. I was expecting more for the price and reviews. I'll stick with Tara or Krung Thai as they are closer to my house and less expensive.
