I wanted to try this place because it's in my neck of the woods and I was craving thai food. I actually got take-out. The service was friendly and my order was ready when I got to the restaurant. I thought it was a little expensive ($12.50 for the red curry with seafood). I got it with brown rice and I was asked how hot I wanted it and decided on Thai hot (the hottest option). Oh boy...this dish was delicious. My mouth was BURNING, but in a good way. Just beware that these people are not messin' around when it comes to the Thai hot option. So be prepared. The red curry was full of yummy bamboo, basil, lime leaf, mussels, shrimp, and squid. It was an awesome dish. I'm very happy to have found a decent Thai place on the westside.

They were good in 2002-2004 and have gone downhill waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay a lot since then. Wah! The past two times I've ordered from them it's been bad bordering on awful and just TOO spicy to eat...and I love spicy! I'm sad because I want a good Thai place near me! Come on, Albuquerque!!!! Come.ON!

I cannot fathom why this place doesn't have better reviews. Service is friendly and efficient, prices are great and it's the best Thai food on the westside- centrally located at Coors and Montano. The spicy fried rice is always cooked perfectly, the cuts of meat are lean and vegetables are fresh, the soup noodles, curry dishes and salads are to die for and the Thai iced tea is YUM! I will agree, the pad thai is not the best I've had and the fresh spring rolls are just ok, but I've yet to be disappointed. If you're in the mood for some spicy Thai, this is the place!

This place has gone way down hill! Usually we e order the Beef Panang and Pad Thai....the Panang was full of noodle and bamboo. ..hardly any beef and watery sauce. We used to crave this place! Must have changed ownership! We miss the old Thai cuisine! Boo!

This place has great lunch specials for under $8, and it comes with an entree or your choice, soup and 2 egg rolls! Can't beat it. I come here for dinner a lot and am always satisfied with my order. Usually I'll get the Drunken noodles or the Red Panang Curry, both are phenomenal. Service has always been friendly and quick. Atmosphere is like most Thai places I've been too, kinda cheesy decor, but clean none the less! They have specials throughout the week and a killer banana fried ice cream. Check it out :)

STEER CLEAR. I will not return to this place, except to return some parts of last night's to go order later this afternoon. I ordered Pad Thai with chicken and red curry with chicken. The total for both was about $20. The Pad Thai had decent flavor, but I'd think that a Thai restaurant would make bomb Pad Thai. The Pad Thai at Pei Wei is FAR superior. The rice noodles were gummy, which was mentioned by someone in a previous review. It was like Pad Thai blob with a lil bit of chicken mixed in. The red curry tasted like curry, but it was all bad from there. I ordered it "Thai hot" but it wasn't close - Sadie's salsa is far hotter. That's no biggie though. This was over half comprised of bamboo shoots (see picture) - I'm not exaggerating - more than half of the entree was bamboo shoots. There was also a bonus metal shaving stuck in there for extra texture and flavor. Further, the menu offers either jasmine or brown rice. I love jasmine rice. It's fragrant and has a really light flavor that isn't there with white rice. Whatever was in the to go box last night was long grain white rice. I get that real jasmine rice is more expensive, but don't put it on the menu if you don't really mean it. I wish there was a top notch Thai restaurant near my house. Maybe someone will open one some day because this place isn't it. :-(

I'm surprised by the mixed reviews on this restaurant. I've eaten there at least once a month for the last 4 years and the food/service is always great. In terms of price for portion, I think it's perfect. But when I go to sit-down chain restaurants, I typically leave half of the plate untouched. I much prefer higher quality food from a local restaurant with healthy portions. They know how to flavor their food and it seems authentic. The green curry is so delicious. I order it medium and it's just hot enough to pleasantly burn. Hot makes me sweat. I've never been brave enough for the Thai hot. The atmosphere is inviting, cheesy for sure, clean, and quiet. The menu is huge. Probably too big, but whatever. The servers are helpful and if in doubt, ask a local that's sitting down for a meal. :)

It appears to have a different name on the spot... located on the outdoor strip mall next to Shanghai Garden. We came here for weekday lunch. The lunch menu is more pricey than all west course cities I've visited so far... that's a bit surprising for Albuquerque. I thought it would be cheaper. It started at $7.95, with standard side dishes of small Tom Yam soup, 2 egg rolls, rice (for most), red bean pudding with milk, and fruits. I had mussamman curry with pork (L2) while my friends had L5 and L6. I didn't have a choice for meat. The flavor of the stew was OK, a bit salty. The potatoes were cooked but hard to chew. I expected it to be mushy if cooked a bit longer. I had a few bites of my friends' dish... both tasted about the same. The staff was friendly but not very efficient. My friends got their foods first and I had to wait for 15 min because they gave mine to another table first... no acknowledgment or apology. I asked for very spicy on my curry but the replacement was just plain. The soup is more spicy. So diners beware, nothing special here... just typical Americanized Asian dishes with potential disappointment.

I wasn't too sure whether to give 3 or 4 stars. But I am definitely going back. I have been there at least 3 times now for both lunch and dinner. I am rather picky about my red curry and I enjoy what they offer here. If you like it spicy they definitely make it spicy here. Their Medium is just above your typical Medium and I usually enjoy heat. Their soups are the best and hit the spots whether its chilly outside or not. I love their spring/fresh rolls. Of course I am a fan of any place that has them on their menu. In short I was pleasantly pleased and feel lucky to have a good Thai place so close to home. Yeah!!!

The green curry certainly had heat and well-rounded flavor, but that's about all it had. The chef tossed in only four shrimp for $9.95, and the only vegetable were bamboo shoots. Lots and lots of bamboo shoots, when a little variety would have improved the dish. The pad thai was pretty good, but they must have been running low on lime because the entire dish had just one slice. The only vegetable of note mixed in with the noodles were bean sprouts. I would return, though I would scrutinize the menu better because I think this is a place where ordering skills matter. FYI, the name is actually "Thai Cuisine & Teriyaki Queen."

I've been here three times, hoping they would redeem themselves each time but after three strikes, I won't be coming back. The first time I went (almost 6 months ago), I ordered a veggie and tofu entree (#97) and the food was bland, full of cabbage, and left me hungry. The second time, I ordered "chicken, basil and garlic", spicy: medium, but the dish arrived mouth-flaming spicy-hot. I couldn't finish the dish, it was so hot. The third time, which was very recent, I only received 5 pieces of chicken for the same dinner entree "Chicken, basil, and garlic", spicy: mild. I think it was #84 on the menu or something. It was plenty full of bamboo shoots, loaded with sauce (almost drowning in it like a soup), but lacking in the meat department. For $8.95, I expect a hearty ratio of meat to veggies, say 1:1 or 1:2 at worst. This was more like 1:4 or 1:5. I was fishing for chicken, but came up with bamboo instead. The server was also cold and glum and didn't seem to enjoy serving our food. I wish there were other Thai options near Rio Rancho; otherwise one has to venture down to Albuquerque to find decent Thai food.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots on the Westside. I am not real Knowledgeable about Thai food in general but I do enjoy there pot stickers and Pork Pad Thai. There lunch special are real reasonable and there egg drop soup is not to salty. Hell, I usually enjoy a warm sake with this meal. I have plenty of left overs for Supper too.

While we shoveled bites of veggies, green curry, "brown sauce" and basil-laced chunks of chicken into our mouths, my wife and I discussed how cuisine offered a reflection of a society as a whole. Thailand is such a vibrant and colorful place, it's no wonder the food is the same way. Portion size also reflects the size of the citizenry. You can extrapolate this principle all around the world. Italian food is hearty and familial and by extension, the people are a little on the round side and they're passionate about family. Japanese people and sushi or udon--it's a no-brainer. A generalization, sure, but it works. After some serious debate, we decided the American diet translated into this: the best bang for your buck. Hence McDonald's, chicken fried steak, BBQ and meatloaf. The size of these classic American dishes? Huge. The size of the average American?... Which is one reason I absolutely LOVE Thai food. Don't misinterpret the star rating on this review: I really enjoyed the food here. Everything seemed fresh, particularly the carrots and broccoli, and the portions were just right, wherein I didn't walk out of the place feeling bloated. I can't recall the names of our dishes; like so many Thai places, the entrees here top 100 choices. We had a noodle dish and a veggie/brown sauce thing, and the curry was very good. "Hot" was perfect for our palettes. But the competition for great Thai is steep in ABQ; to be above average, a restaurant needs to be adventurous or mighty cheap. "Thai Cusine" (adventurous title, eh?) delivers neither, it's just another good place to eat. That said, I love that this place is tucked into this rather sleepy little strip mall. It makes lunch interesting!

Thai Cuisine 1 is the best Thai restaurant I've found in the North Albuquerque area. The lunch special is $8.95 and you get soup, egg rolls, entrée, rice, fresh fruit and tapioca. They know how to make delicious flavors without using MSG. The restaurant is lovely with Thai decorations and the service is friendly. I love coming here!

I am a fan of Thai food and you can find me ordering food here at least once a week (my kids love it). We typically order and take home as the restaurant is not all that spectacular in terms of decor. Lots of photos of food on the wall and a TV in a restaurant are not my idea of great ambiance. But it is a totally kid friendly environment (toddlers I am talking to you). The reason we go is the food. YUMMY! I love the curries (red and yellow), the drunken noodle dish is delicious, and you can't go wrong with their soups if you are feeling like you are about to come down with a cold. If you like your food spicy, they deliver. I would stick with medium as hot can be a little too much (this is the girl who likes her green chile extra hot!). My suggestion is to order and pick up. Create your own little ambiance at home and enjoy the left-overs the next day!

Run! Run as fast as you can and save your money for twenty items from MickyD's dollar menu instead! Their food is tasteless - once you actually get what you ordered - and when you try to tell them about, they cop an attitutde. Truly the FIRST time I left a restaurant without giving a tip.
