The tacos (soft) are authentic and very tasty! Steak tacos are my favorite. Menu is in Spanish but the staff will help you order if you need it. Eating area very clean.

I've only been here once, but I'm sure to go back. I wasn't too sure what the menu was going to consist of. I had been on the look out for "mini" tacos, taqueria style tacos. The place is clean and the menu looks to have a lot to offer. I saw the taco menu, and although it was in spanish, the cashier helped me order and she was very helpful and polite. Since it was just a whim that I decided to try the place, I only ordered 3 tacos all different meats. They were all very good and tasty. The Brisket was the BEST! Tiny bit dry, but the flavor was awesome! I will surely go back to try more. Guess I need to brush up on some spanish :0)

Went with the family. No problem with service, yummy food, but I was so hungry I didn't notice the taco list until we were sitting waiting for our comida! (Got a giant fried fish platter, hub got pollo con jamon, and the kiddies shared enchiladas.) I'll def be back for the tacos y cervezas!

Firstly, Tacos Mex y Mariscos is Mexican Taquería and does not reflect New Mexico's regional style of cooking. Although one may be weary of any place proclaiming 99 cent tacos, Tacos Mex y Mariscos is the real deal. Some may say that the menu is limited, but I would say it is succinct. The focus here is on tacos, tortas, and sopas; and the offerings range from shrimp, birrera, buche, al pastor, and carne asada. On the weekends, they have an al pastor spit outside in order to beckon to people the delicious pork offerings available. It is great to see that there are more regional Mexican joints opening around town, which represent the beauty and vastly different cuisines of Mexico.

Appeared with two other couples and presented a restaurant.com coupon we had just printed out that morning. Without any explanation, they refused to accept the coupon. Needless to say we won't be returning.

Best menudo in Albuquerque. Very good authentic Mexican Food!

This place is great, especially for the price. 99 cent tacos and $3.99 burritos. It's very authentic. They even serve tongue tacos. And there were chickens running around in the road. It doesn't get any more Mexican than that.

This is the closest thing I have found to l.a Mexican food since we have been in ABQ. We come here about once a week or so. We really love this place !!

Thank you my fellow previous yelper for advertising this place for Shrimp Tacos...YumMmmie. For $3 a pop you can buy yourself a nice shrimp taco that is slight battered, fried served on corn tortillas with shredded lettuce and tomatoes. At first I was hesitant as I have been accustomed to have my seafood tacos with cabbage, but honestly after having a shrimp taco here, the shredded lettuce was the right choice to keep the taco well balanced....who knew a taco could be well balanced :) After the first bite of this taco... I was addicted, so much that I came back the very next day to satisfy my craving. The two times that I have been here I have ordered the following -Carne asada taco -Shrimp Tacos -Posole Most of their other tacos are 99cents which is a steal! the fact that they are open late means I can satisfy my late night cravings with cheap but delicious tacos! This restaurant is very clean and you can take yourself some salsa (many to choose from salsa verde, hot, and mild) and fixins for your tacos with your order. And I do have to agree with the other yelpers, this place does not specialize in New Mexican dishes. Just typing about the tacos here is making me salivate... looks like I'll have to do another taco run tomorrow. :)

I live nearby and drive past Tacos Mex y Mariscos daily but I'd never gotten around to trying it. Until now. The tacos are every bit as good as their Yelp reviews say. My wife was out and she called about bringing home lunch. I went with the al pastor and the carnitas tacos. Heavenly. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. I see early morning walks for breakfast burritos in my future.

Being in Abq from El Paso and finding this place was awesome! This place serves Mexican food -- different than New Mexican. Husband had to try their menudo -- and it was amazingly good - the red chile colorado was rich and dark and full of flavor. I tried their surf and turf with asada and shrimp and loved it. It came with a side of rice and refried beans. The rice was very good -- it was not sticky or wet like quite a few New Mexican restaurants serve it (yuk). Husband also tried their shrimp tacos - yum! This little hole in the wall really does serve great Mexican food! I gotta try their gorditas next time... if they're anything like what we ate today, we're in for a real treat! We also heard today that they will be opening another one in the Cottonwood area. woo-hoo!

Taqueria Style Mexican, nothing New Mexican about this place. If miss the tacos and tortas (mexican sandwich) you had in California, this is the place. Great selection of meats, excellent caldo de res (beef soup). Haven't really ventured to the seafood menu, so I won't comment on that.

Always great! Authentic Mexican, not tex-mex or New Mexican. There is a distinct difference. But they're all good! This place is pretty authentic. The flautas & chille relleno are awesome. And it goes without saying the tacos are the best!

Finally got to try the place. I had the shrimp cocktail, my friend, the coconut shrimp cocktail. It was slightly past the lunch hour but there were a respectable number of customers and the parking lot was almost full. While we waited for our lunch, we sampled the pickled carrots and peppers, muy sabroso. We're trying to sample all of the shrimp cocktails in town and so far, this one is one of the better ones. We will definitely go back to try other dishes, the caldo looked excellent.

Recommended by a friend when I said I was craving ceviche. This place rocks- great fresh not-too-sweet watermelon drink and the shrimp ceviche tostadas. Again, super fresh and cheap. I will be back.

BEST TACOS IN NM. This is legit mexican food, not americanized or new mexicanized... just pure mexican. The pastor tacos, carne asada, and the lengua are all phenomenal. 100X better than Taqueria Mexicana. Can't say much more about this place.

I was looking for tacos like they do back home in the bay area California, and I found it. This place reminded of El Grullense E & E out of Redwood City. I like my tacos real simple: carne asada, cebolla y cilantro, salsa roja, and I ask for the tortillas to be doradas, so that they have a little crunch.

Authentic Mexican (not New Mexican) taqueria. Delicious Tacos al Pastor. I've also had the Carnitas, the Carne Adovada, and the Ceviche. The last was a shrimp Ceviche, very authentic, on a Tostada. The beans and rice are very authentic, and the condiments are excellent and fresh. They have several bottle beers (Pacifica, Bohemia, Negro Modelo, and Budweiser family, including pre-mixed with Clamato). Aguas frescas are good (had the watermelon). No full liquor license; I'd love to get a real margarita, complete with rot-gut white tequila, but, sorry. The service is more than adequate--you walk in and order, sit down and they bring you your food at the table. Nothing fancy at this abdandoned, repurposed McDonalds--styrofoam and plasticware. This kitchen could, however, fuel a fine dining experience if they decided to open a more upscale restaurant. It is probably the best authentic Mexican food in town. By the way, it's very cheap. The tacos are $0.99 each (except for the Tripas, which are $2.00) and include favorites like Cabesa, Lingua, Biria and several kinds of sausage. Not the reason I chose to eat here (the food is simply superior) but it's a nice bonus. I plan to keep going back, working my way through the taco menu, try the Caldo de Mariscos and Menudo, and get their breakfast some day. If you have a question about child-friendliness, the answer is: don't worry about it. Brought my 10 month old and 3 year old to have dinner there with my friend's 4-year-old yesterday. No funny stares, even from the gang-bangers. There's adequate kid's seats, and my boy can watch Futbol on Univision during dinner.

I seriously love this place. I ate there twice while I was in Albuquerque because it was so good and consistent. These are probably the best tacos I've had. The buche and the asada is unreal. Their salsa is also really amazing, the red is so smokey and rad. The churro here is too good it's dangerous. It's also super affordable. Definitely check it out.

This place is the real deal. They like to fry items a bit too much but it's still on point. Their street tacos are some of the best around. They use to be .99 cents but even at the elevated price of $1.25...its an unbelievable price for the quality and taste. This time we had the Caldo de Res and Costa Brava. Yum yum, yum!!!

Well, all I can say is that I gave Howie K the benefit of the doubt twice, and this place fell on its face - flat-splat. Down for the count... Today - Saturday, 11:45am, my buddy, Robert, and I had spent the morning fixing the telephone wiring at my mother's house, and hunting-down parts to build some homebrew beer making equipment. We were on North 4th, and discussing how lousy the green-chile-cheesburgers were at Bob's Burgers (right across the street), and decided to give this place another chance. I gotta admit, that noon is about my limit on tolerance for mediocre service. Like many people, I get cranky if I am hungry, and I get worse when people in restaurants don't understand that restaurants are all about feeding people. The place was 75% capacity. Most of the clients were the kind of people that a place like this thrives on: people who are happily talking-away, and expecting to spend an hour or two "carrying-on". I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, and my friend got a simple bean burrito. When the girl asked "to drink?", I said "Corona", and Robert asked for "Dos Equis". The bill was about $16, and I bought, because it is the right thing to do, when your friend helps you rewire your mother's telephones. They gave us a wire-mounted number to place on the table, to connect the food with the people. The numbers (in theory) were a great solution to the problems that plagued my last visit. The beer came fairly quickly. One Corona, and two Dos Equis. I'm fairly proficient at Spanish, and I explained to the girl "only one Corona and one Dos Equis". She was totally befuddled. I can't really place myself inside her head, but my perception was that she now had a beer with a lime sticking out of it, and it was homeless. We continued discussing the merits and shortcomings of all-grain brewing techniques, the effects of global warming on New Mexico monsoon seasons, the Stanley Cup playoffs, and how people with "LOBO" license plates tend to drive like assholes. 3 or 4 times, the "waitress" visited our table with someone elses food. It was obvious, that the number on the two foot tall wire rack in the middle of our table didn't affect the outcome. About 12:30, we were out of beer, and no food in sight. She came back with a tray of food, but none was ours. Robert was willing to accept the oysters. and I would have taken the enchiladas, but it wouldn't have been a Christian thing to do. It was likely that the people who paid for the food have been here for hours, but just lost their number. The folks at the adjoining table had two small children, who were probably entering some hypoglycemic condition, (I am not an expert on kids, so I can't really comment on cause and effect). The older one, the one with the cast and sling, was beating on the one with the Mexican wrestler costume, and we were wagering if the broken arm was the result of fisticuffs with a family member or a random person on the street. It isn't polite to discipline someone else's kids in a language they don't understand. The chairs were quite well constructed, and were certainly multilingual, but we kept reminding ourselves of the goal; to not pass-out from starvation, or end up in jail (or the morgue). The waitress came past with a cheeseburger and fries, and I vamped... Poor Robert made a poor choice, and they were out in the parking lot watering the beans for his burrito. I half-assed picked at my French fries, while trying to avoid gloating over my fortune. I took my plate to the "salsa cart" (or whatever they called it) to add green chiles, but the best I could do was pico de gallo. I explained the nuances of the differences of salsas was a cultural artifact, but it didn't cover my embarrassment of waiving a plate of cold food in front of my friend. The next time the waitress passed, while aimlessly wandering with itinerant food, I got up to voice protest for my friend's treatment, but the tray had a bean burrito, and I was saved. Well, actually he was saved. The only reason I came back to this restaurant was to give it a second chance -- that was a huge mistake. Hopefully, you won't make the same mistake (even once).

Late Sunday night cravings sometimes strike. And as this is Albuquerque we (my dude and I) are limited to not so great food at this hour. 10 pm I might add. We did the drive through. Having it been our first time and wanting to chow down at home. The credit card machine was down but this wasn't a problem because a convenient Walgreens was just down the street. As we came back the friendly drive through lady greeted us again. We ordered a medium orchata. Which is delicious. Not grainy whatsoever. She upgraded us to a large for our troubles! We ordered: Tongue, head, and chicken tacos. Along with an order of chilaquiles. I truly enjoyed the chilaquiles as most places it is just chips and salsa sprinkled by cheese. These were accompanied by a scrambled egg that was cooked in salsa. For what they were and the price. I am thrilled. The tacos also were a hit! The only regret was getting chicken instead of something else. For 5 delicious tacos, an order of chilaquiles and a drink at less than 15 bucks. This place is great eats! Bonus, open late!

I give it 2 stars instead of one because they were nice. But my husband & I were disappointed. Filiberto's has better nachos. Sorry. :( & I really had high hopes for this place. The pictures made the food look amazing. It was edible, but it didn't taste good.

You ever heard that saying ugly on the outside yummy on the inside? Well that's this place in a nutshell. The buildings exterior is a bit of a scare but I'm glad I trust my fellow yelpers who helped me overcome that fear. Let me tell you, this place has some of the BEST Mexican food that I have tried in a while. On this particular occasion I tried the shrimp a la diabla. The portions are just as huge as the flavor, which is also delicious. I am glad that I have a place this good next to my work. I plan on spending a lot more of my lunch breaks here.

First a review of a previous reviewer: if your choice of Mexican food in an authentic cheap Mexican restaurant is nachos, please do the world a favor and don't write a review because you don't know what Mexican food is. Nachos is an American insult to Mexican food. (I'm not Mexican just love Mexican good) This is a very decent Mexican restaurant with some authentic flavors. Menudo , tacos de bucho , lengua etc. definitely give it a try if you like real Mexican food.

The tacos I ordered tasted good and my hubby and I ate there, but I ordered the chicken enchiladas plate to go for my daughter (who was asleep) while we ate. I ate some when we went back to hotel and she ate a little bit. We both got stomach virus from it! My hubby was fine, he did not have any enchiladas. My daughter and I were both vomitting non stop all night. Just thinking about food right now makes me want to gag!

Want authentic street-style tacos in Albuquerque? Here you go. This is the real thing. No boutique ingredients. No tofu. No whining allowed. Real tacos al pastor. Real salsa bar with pickled carrots and jalapenos. Delicious, cheap, fast and you may learn some Spanish.

Love this place! I give very few places 5 stars, because to me 5 stars mean perfection. But for what it is, this place is fantastic. First, some qualifications, so snobs don't make the mistake of visiting. This is a Mexican restaurant located in an old fast food restaurant. The place is shabby, the decorations kind of cheap. Not much of an atmosphere. No place you'd take a date (unless that date happens to be a true food lover, and, if so, good for you for finding him/her!). To get to the restaurant from I-25, you must drive through a somewhat sketchy neighborhood. There, you snobs are warned. Now, for those of you who love good food, wherever you may find it, you must visit this place. Delicioso! The menu offers an array of items. The most prominent among them appear to be tacos, caldos, and seafood items. We didn't order a caldo, but, oh my, the huge bowls of amazing soups that went past our table certainly made us wish we had. They are very popular, from what we could tell. We did order the tacos. These are what we in the U.S. have started calling street tacos, which I'm pretty sure Mexicans simply call tacos. Each consists of two small corn tortillas, meat, and (optional) onion and cilantro. The meat options are excellent, and include lengua, cabeza, chorizo, and Mexican sausage, among the more standard choices. Fantastic meat! And, bestill my heart, the place has a salsa bar with real salsas- pico de gallo, roasted tomato, tomatillo, creamy avocado, etc- along with limes and an excellent raw carrot salad. Yum!!! Choose whichever salsas you like to top your tacos. And, did I mention, that each of these amazing tacos costs only $1.25? Freakin' fantastic! You can order more than you can possibly eat for fewer than $10. We also ordered the chilaquiles. Ahhhh..... So good. Tortilla chips, eggs, and green salsa, all griddle-fried together, with rice and beans on the side. Happy just thinking about it. Wish we lived in or near Albuquerque. We would have tried every last menu item by now. A last note. If you are uncomfortable being the sole gringo in an establishment, then you might think twice about going. Just a little caveat. Sweetie and I certainly received some very long looks when we entered the packed place. But, to be clear, the women behind the counter were courteous, and not a single patron did anything worse than give one long look. The vast majority were entirely neutral. I know this may be a touchy subject, but I think it's fair to make mention.

B.B.B. category! Bueno, bonito y barrato. I had Manchaca Huevos. Yummy plate. Rice and refried beans... my favorite. Shredded meat with eggs and it looked like a pico de gallo mix in with it. So, my favorite part was the agua de horchata!!! It was perfect! Not to sweet, not to watery and not to heavy. JUST RIGHT. Plus the size! It's like the movie theater's X-large cups. :) I'm a happy camper when I have food that makes me happy.

I was craving fish tacos and this place popped up on Yelp. Glad it did because it's my first time being here and it's awesome! Definitely get the shrimp ceviche! Shrimp and steak quesadilla was great. Fish and shrimp tacos were great too! Definitely coming back.

I have yet to be blown away by 'New Mexican' food. What I've been really craving is the real thing - Mexico Mexican food. You know, the way it was originally created. I found a nice little treasure the other day when I dropped by Taqueria Mexican but I still wanted to discover something more fast-foodish. Mexican street food. So, while perusing Yelp I came across reviews for Tacos Mex (I hate the name, BTW). I had driven by it once or twice and the grunginess of the building should have told me that this was a gem. I wasn't really interested in the full menu but the 99 cent tacos were the money item for me. I also decided that I would be a little more courageous and venture out from my staple (carne asada) and into the more unique... lengua (beef tongue) and cabeza (head). Looking at the pictures online, I made the false assumption that the tacos were big - that somehow they pulled off a loaves and fishes miracle and turned a 99 cent taco into a full sized masterpiece. In this I was disappointed when I got my bag from the drive-thru. I should have ordered more. Don't color me ungrateful - the tacos were the right size for the price, I had just convinced myself that it would be otherwise since everyone acts so astonished by the low cost in their reviews. To help my fellow yelpers out, let me point out that there is nothing fast about this food. Certainly going through the drive-thru like I did was a wrong choice. It took a long time to come out.... which I should be grateful for because they were very hot and obviously freshly made. When I finally got home, I began my ascension into taco nirvana. These little buggers were perfect! Just like you'll find them if you are actually in Mexico. The cabeza was especially delicious and I'm fairly certain I will start drooling any time I look another cow in the face. I might even bite it if it starts mooing at me. That's how good it was. I can't say that I was blown away by the green or red chili sauce that came with it on the side but it was easy to just leave it out and move on to my mouth-watering meat. This is clearly a Best of Albuquerque type of joint!

Had the Chile relleno plate and it was fabulous. Wife had the beef burrito and loved it. Not your typical NM food rather more like Mexican.

What happens when you are really craving tacos and don't know where you want to go? This is a no brainer. You pull out your trusty Yelp mobile app and search tacos. Then you see a 4 1/2 star taco joint and become intrigued. Carne Asada and Al Pastor on the brain. You have no choice but see what all the hype is about. The place is kind of easy to miss just because the road is pretty tight with restaurants lined up along the road. When you get there you will notice a drive thru, but I advise you just to go inside and order: 1. because this isn't McDonalds and you aren't going to get your order in 30 seconds. 2. They have a yummy salsa bar and need to get the proper condiments. 3. Come on man give the earth a break with your car emissions. Let me keep on track. When you enter there is a large dining room and counter (If you have read any of my other reviews, I love counters!) ready to order from. The menu has pictures of all the food so you know what you are going to get yourself into. I ordered tacos. The tacos are $1.25 and incredible. I usually get the aside and al pastor. The pastor is spot on sweet and tangy awesomeness. The asada on point as well. A taco joint that almost has 5 stars? What's the deal. There is no deal. This is a legit taco joint with awesome food. The service is great too. The girls at the counter are pretty friendly. It can get pretty packed during lunch and dinner hours. Keep in mind this isn't a "New Mexican" place its and very tasty Mexican restaurant. They also have mariscos which is seafood. The cocktail looks great and they have a whole fried fish on the menu. If you are in need of some incredible tacos then this is the place. 4 and 1/2 stars? Yes the hype is real. Cheers!

Somewhere in my soul is Tacos Mex. Therein, I want Tacos Mex to be everywhere to make the world a better place. It makes me wanna say things like "Viva La Gente" and "Mas salsita, por favor", because tacos are happiness. There's no debate here if Tacos Mex y Mariscos is New Mexican or Mexican, it's just good food everyone ought to try. I had a taco de Cabeza, de Al Pastor, and Carne Asada. The Cabeza in particular is super tender and seasoned awfully well. I cannot remember the last time I had that, but it re-made a good impression. The salsas over the meat with onions and cilantro are a must! The hefty parking lot welcomes all, as does the friendly demeanor of all who work here. The dining area is big and can accomodate a handsome amount of people as well. Consider me bred in the Southwest, but I am continually surprised at the good finds all around; the Duke City is no different.

CARNE ASADA TACOS!! The absolute best taco in America, and priced at $1.25. This place is truly special and will not disappoint. Salty, tangy, and so uniquely Mexican. They manage to capture a flavor that so many other places fail to do. I will be back to Albuquerque for the sole reason of eating these tacos again. Also, the creamy avocado salsa, pico, and pickled veggies are amazing!

Taco Mex is definitely one of the top Mexican restaurants here in the 505. You know a place is serious when they have a salsa bar! Fresh ingredients and a great staff. I usually order tacos because they are so tasty and authentic and they are cheap( $1.25 per taco). With the asada you can't go wrong. Another favorite of mine is the pastor- grilled pineapple for a sweeter type of taco. They have so many other options as well and you won't be disappointed. The ambiance is perfect, when you walk in you are immediately transported to little Mexico. You can usually catch futbol or a telenovela on one of the TVs. The place is very clean and the ladies that work up front are so nice. If you order in Spanish and talk with them, they will like you even more. Thirsty ? The have beer and usually a fresh juice of the day.

Hands down best asada burrito I've ever had in Albuquerque. I've had better tacos, but still good.

Gloriously tasty, authentic hole-in-the-wall tacos. Cramped parking lot for those not wanting to use the drive thru. Lots of seating inside, plus two tables outside. Polite service, bathroom by the counter. Horchata is creamy without being heavy, and a medium is a fair amount of beverage. We confirmed our desire for fresh onion and cilantro on our tacos. Salsa bar includes lime, pickled carrots, and radish. Salsa verde was uninspired, but avocado crema was okay. I was least impressed by the pastor, but the chorizo is fantastic and the asada is quite good. I liked the fried coating adding texture to the tripa, and the tenderness of the lengua, but both were a touch greasy. Looking forward to hitting this place up next time I'm passing through, and possibly upgrading with avocado: buche, cabeza, suadero, birria, longanisa, carnitas, pollo; ceviche tostada, menudo, caldo de res.

The showdown is on! I am now on a quest to find Albuquerque's best taco shop. This by far in the running. For a dolla and a quarta have your choice of.... 8ish tacos. I opted for the steak, the lengua and the pastor. Served with or without onions and/or cilantro. While your waiting for your food stop by the salsa bar and stock up on some delicious condiments to go with your small, but very full, tacos. The seasonings used were extremely tasty and not overdone. The corn tortillas were soft and fresh. The meat was piled high. What else could I ask for? Maybe a beer. Wait you can have one of those as well! Since I didn't eat a "meal" I didn't get to try the side dishes, but they looked good. I got to see the fries and queso, didn't look appealing at all. Go for the tacos and stay for...well...more tacos! Stay tuned, I plan on seeing this quest through to the end.

Best ever. Best tacos I've ever had, rice and beans had a smokey kick to them, they had oysters and oysters were huge! If I lived in this town, I'd come here for every meal.

I finally found the real deal. I only got to try a couple of tacos, but those tacos have made a big impression, not only on my mind, but on my palate. The little salsa bar also had good salsa fresco and a spicy one that I put on my tacos, which made them even more amazing. I had the carnitas and the carne asada tacos. The tortillas were perfect, the meat delectable. My tongue did a happy little dance and thanked me several minutes later. My husband tried the chorizo and longuinesa, and he really enjoyed them as well. They were $1.75 each. You can't beat that! The place was packed, which only means good things to me. There was several agua fresas available and I had to try the traditional horchata. And I'm so glad I did, so creamy, sweet, cinammony and wonderful. I have dreamed of it on a hot day. If you're white and don't mind a few stares, come on in. We won't bite. (hey that rhymed)

This is a great place to enjoy Tacos and authentic Mexican flavors. It was clean and the friendly staff added to my experience. Prices were also friendly. I would recommend the chorizo taco. The South Valley 4th Street area of town is lucky to have Taco Mex.

I was hungry and I wanted good tacos. I read all the reviews and was very excited for it. According to the hours listed on yelp and Google they are open until midnight. We called in at 11 for a pick up order and they said they were closed. I really think they should change their hours so I don't get teased anymore.

The menu is legit Mexican. Not Southwestern-style Mexican, not Tex-Mex, but as close to authentic Mexican as you can get in ABQ without any regional frills or flair getting in the way. A place that serves ceviche and soups like caldo de siete mares (Seven Seas soup, more like a stew) and caldo de res (beef stew) are a sign to me that it's more than just your typical tacos, burritos, and enchiladas place. We got the caldo de res and gordita, and also an asada burrito. Caldo de res was excellent, good balance of beef, vegetables, and broth. The gordita was good, but I like El Paisa's gorditas better. The asada burrito is spicy! If you are a spice wimp like me and my bf are, get something else. My mouth was on fire afterward. Good, solid place to get your Mexican fix, and also plenty of seafood options like its name suggests.

The tacos and burritos here are great. They are consistent with the food so you always know what to expect. The salty goodness of the carne asada is worth going back for. They also have breakfast burritos; they are pretty heavy for breakfast but always fresh and made to order.

Place is great. We get tacos every time. Cheap and delicious is just the way I like them! You should know some Spanish fore warning, but hey we're in New Mexico. Love this place I am a regular. Oh and they have the old fashioned glass coke. Awesome.

Thanks to other Yelp reviews, we stopped here on our never-ending quest for good Tex Mex in the Southwest. We ordered more than we could eat, just so we could try several things. Every single thing we ordered was excellent! We are very picky about Chile Rellenos. Virtually every place has WAY too much breading, and not enough chile flavor. This place is only 1 of 2 places that gets it right, and we've tried over a dozen "authentic" and highly-reviewed places in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado. The other place is Lupita's Super Burrito in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The ceviche tostada was amazing, as were the chicken and beef flautas. Only 5 minutes off I-25, you should absolutely stop here. Even if this isn't one of your all-time favorite Mexican places, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed at all.

I was looking for a place that sold street tacos and I found it. The tacos are delicious and inexpensive ($1.25 - $2.00). My son went for the typical kids plate, nuggets and fries. But after trying the asada taco, he was in love. I live in the far NE heights and it was worth the drive to come here. Most plates are under $10.00. I cannot wait to come back to try the menudo and pozole.

Hands down the best tacos I've ever had. These little taco places are normally excellent, but this one exceeded my expectations by far. I got the Mexican sausage, Pastor, and Carnitas tacos, along with a horchata (if you don't know what that is, just trust me and get it). The bill came to 6 dollars. Great start. These are your straightforward tacos, meat and cilantro and onions. They have a salsa bar too. The meat is what made these so fantastic. Truly excellent. Highly recommend this place. I'm going back before I head back home to Atlanta, for sure.

Come here for a great cheap meal on a dime. Not the best tacos in town, but for $1.25 each I won't complain! Also, happy hour specials Tuesdays and Thursdays.

An order at the counter (or drive-thru joint) with a mini salsa bar. I've tried the asada and shrimp tacos and the gorditas here and everything is delicious. As with most good traditional Mexican restaurants in town, most or all of the employees and customers are Spanish speaking. If you happen to be linguistically challenged (like me), the menu has good photographs and numbers.

Good seafood, very fresh. Had the ceviche tostada and this thing has a LOT of shrimp on it for $4. Service is decent, and it's a get your own drinks type place too.

WOW. So as a road trip continues we stopped for dinner here based on the yelp reviews. This was authentic Mexican food I have the tacos with chorizo and the ceviche tostada. My wife had the taco plate with refried beans and rice. This is ceviche had large chunks of shrimp and was absolutely delicious. The only gripe I have is that the cashier girl rang up my order incorrectly and I ended up getting four tacos instead of three and there were only two types of tacos when I asked for three different types. No big deal, as everything was delicious. We also got some flan which was clearly made in house, yum! Wash it all down with some Coca-Cola's made with real sugar. The salsa bar has lime slices and a good variety of salsas to add. Tacos are very cheap at 1.25 each, for quality food. 5 stars if not for the order screw up.

Yuummm. This is amazing authentic traditional Mexican food. I have always been fond of authenticity when it comes to Mexican food and this restaurant has been nearest to flavor and presentation. I strongly suggest you try this restaurant before you judge a book by its cover.

I feel like people like this place more for the price than the taste. I came by for a quick lunch, and the food didn't leave me begging for more. I had 3 tacos: asada, pastor, and chorizo. The asada was on the bland side, and it didn't have a good sear to add more flavor. I threw on what I could from the salsa bar, but I could still tell that the meat underneath was underwhelming. I liked that they threw in pineapples with the pastor tacos, but the marinated pork wasn't savory enough to balance out the sweet and tangy pineapples. I knew the chorizo taco was gonna be the best one when the signature reddish orangey grease spilled out as I picked it up. Although I thought it could've been spicier and used more seasoning, it was a lot better than the other ones. For 99 cents, it's good. I also enjoyed the horchata. It's almost too sweet, but it's got a good cinnamon flavor.

Amaze-balls! True street taco style - tacos are only $1 each! Try the weird stuff, you WILL like it. I recommend: TACOS!, Soup of the 7 Seas.

Open late! These $1 tacos have saved me from the dreaded hangover many times after a late gig. I always order extra avocado on my asada tacos and have also started ordering the tortillas cooked with no-oil and can really taste the masa better. The complimentary salsa and topping bar rocks! My husby regularly orders the ceviche tostada which is really two and he is always complimentary of it.

Tasty and cheap. Portions are adequate to feed hungry Mexican wresters. I missed the Taco hop this weekend, so I needed a fix on Monday my day off. We had 3 tacos each- pastor, carne, and pollo, they hit the happy taco spot for sure. We also had the Shrimp Ceviche tostada. This thing is huge, and made up of full size chopped up shrimp. Lastly we had the Sopa plate, which comes with two heaping open face sandwiches( we had one pork, one beef). This was my least favorite item, but still pretty wonderful. The other problem as my boyfriend stated "How are we supposed to eat this?" I ended up like a dog with sour cream on my nose. We then moved to cutting it up with a fork and knife. This is not a good item to eat when you are trying to impress someone being suave. Tacos are 1.25each. The huge plate of food was 7.49. We also had an agua fresca, not as good as Taquera Mexicos version, still refreshing. The salsa bar is a little oasis of flavor. You may want to go in and order so you can try them all. They also have a drive thru if you are in a big hurry. Other items that intrigued me are the mixed seafood tostada, the coconut shrimp thing, and of course the Tortas. I think they do a whole fried fish too. I will be ordering the taquito plate next time for sure. Plates are between 7.50- 12$ Mission accomplished we ate all the animals, and left stuffed. Thank you Yelp and Cassidy for making this taco fix possible.

The girl at the drive up window was really nice. She greeted me in Spanish by saying "hola" and I responded by saying "hi" and she didn't make me feel stupid as if I had no idea how to speak Spanish. Shrimp burrito was big and really good! Would definitely go back.

Good Mexican tacos. Good salsas. Good prices. Mmm their meat is moist and savory, I am usually disappointed with dry sawdust meat in a rubbery tortilla. This was a delight. The crowd inside was good and everyone seemed happy with their food too.

Dollar menu? I got your dollar menu for ya, right here. Back your crunk out of that fast food parking lot, NOW, and get yourself a handful of tacos from Tacos Mex. You won't ever go back to the burger. Promise. I've been driving past this joint for years; a long time back it was a decent Thai house, and I was bummed to see that go, so I never considered checking out the eats that replaced it. Boy, was I naive. Thank goodness yet again for Yelp, which steered me toward their drive-through on a night I needed a quick, cheap munch. I have another new, favorite place in the valley. Their $1 taco list is extensive - there are perhaps twelve choices - and being the cautious gringo I am, I went after the domestic varieties: carnitas, chorizo, carne asada and chicken. Simply put, these are some of the very best tacos in the city, rivaling anything I've ever tasted in the south valley, they're that impressive. Two soft corn tortillas house culinary heaven in the folds, it was amazing that each successive bite had me thinking, "No, this one is even better than the last". For those who are garnish sensitive, you're safe: the sweet woman at the window made sure I wanted onion and cilantro atop. Adventurous choices include lengua, tripas, birria and buche. Next time, I'm going in with an empty stomach and an open palate. And I hear the fish and seafood options are terrific, too. Glancing inside, it's clear that the restaurant is family-friendly and economical, music to my eyes. The menu is impressive and I anticipate many return visits. You'll have to wait a few minutes for your not-so-fast food, but you'll never forget your first bite. Finally, just a brief word concerning the unfortunate alienation of green chile from authentic Mexican food. I get it, okay, I get that chile isn't big south of the border and thus its inclusion would alter the whole "authentic" claim, but if that's the philosophy, Tacos Mex, don't serve queso. Just don't do it. I ordered fries with queso, and they were truly boring. Chile and queso were meant to sleep together in the eternal arms of comfort food junkies ad infinatum. Somewhere in Hatch, there's a pepper crying for his lost lover.

*California Native* My husband and I recently moved to New Mexico and I had been craving tacos. REAL tacos! The way they make them in Mexico, not New Mexico. Anyway, I read some reviews and decided to come here and I was NOT disappointed! The tacos were the bomb I tries one of each and each one reminded me of La Style Tacos! Lengua, buche, asada and tripa all cooked to perfection!

Good seafood, very fresh. Had the ceviche tostada and this thing has a LOT of shrimp on it for $4. Service is decent, and it's a get your own drinks type place too.

Tacos were great! I enjoyed the steak, chicken, and chorizo tacos. Very reasonably priced at 1.25 each. Casual atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Authentic. The tacos are amazing. Try them all. Prices are great. Very casual place. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. They also have drive through and are open late.

Went a couple weeks ago with 10 year old and we both enjoyed the food. We had beef and pork tacos and tried various sauces all was fresh and tasted great. We'll go back to try some other more adventures stuff now that we know it's good.

Wow, 99 for tacos asada. The corn tortillas are fresh and steamed, a pico de Gallo bar , avocado sauce, lime, onions. We will be back to try the seafood. This is real Mexico. Super nice and friendly service. Great job guys!!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
