Stufys is the best! I've been eating there all my life. Seriously they've been around a long time. Food is fantastic but service is slow. Only downside. But the food is definitely worth the wait!

My family and I couldn't tell if the burgers were homemade or not. The fries were definitely not. The regular cheeseburger I got was TINY! It did not fill me up since I had not eaten all day. My 2 family members got the Gorilla burger and it was just too much. They couldn't even pick it up to their mouth because it was just falling apart. The bread was all soggy and wet from the grease and chili and everything else. The flavor was good of the burgers though. I also got one tamale with red chili smothered over it, and the tamale tasted fair, and with that as well I'm not sure it it was homemade. The red sauce over it was all the way TEX MEX. I hate tex mex. I was expecting some authentic New Mexico red chili, but no, it tasted like wolf chili. It was good wolf chili, but just not what I wanted. The drive thru took a little while, and the prices were fair.

Food is good. Love the carne sopapilla. My fiance got the hamburger and guacamole sopapilla; he enjoyed it. Service leaves much to be desired.

So were driving to Sushiya to have a light lunch, and I saw the sign. Stuffys stuffed Sopapillias. I was like holy crap, we have to stop there. So we had a light lunch of sushi and then stopped for round two. I had visions of Jane and Michael Stern as they ate their way through the nation. For reference- google Roadfood, they really were the first major chroniclers of regional drive ins, dives and classics. I do not see what the big deal about Guy Ferrari is, he cannot cook and looks and acts like a dummy. Shut up Nat- Anyway the interior is very retro, as is the little Dennis the menace like cartoon mascot. They have a slew of choices for stuffed sopapillias. Boyfriend had the burger with guacamole, I had the chicken green chile. They were pretty tasty, and a good choice for a cheap lunch on the go. Sopapillias were squarish and not as light as others in town possibly to stand up as a sandwich . They really load them full of goodies, and offer a wider range of filling options than any where else in town. I think I still prefer the El Modelo version slightly better. They are on opposing sides of town, so there is really no competition with that kind of millage. They also have Tamales, Tacos, Burritos, Enchiladas, Chile Dogs, and Biscochito cookies. Did I mention this has a drive thru too. So you do not even have to get your fat self out of the car. Good luck eating this stuff while driving. Unless you are wearing a bib, I bet you will be carrying around a memory of your delicious lunch. You can eat inside too- unlike El Modelo which is picnic tables only.

Wow, I remembered Stufy's being good when I was a kid. Went back yesterday, and... Ugh! The food was barely edible. The only flavor I could make out was salt. No spice, no sabor, just canned refried beans and a total lack of caring about what you put on people's plates. I should've just left this as a memory...

The only food I get here is the stuffed sopas.. So ordered 3 number 10s and 1 number 2 and they came out fast, five minutes and were very good. Also like the number 8.

Breakfast stuffed sopapilla is good. But tried to call and order breakfast 2 minutes before they open (didn't realize) and was told I had to call back..... I told them could I at least give her the order. No. She couldn't take it because they weren't open yet.....2 minutes before..... No. I didn't call back Somebody else will take my money and can have my business

When this NE heights location first opened, it was ridiculously busy. I mean, I would wait for an hour for two freakin stuffed sopas. Now I wait 15 minutes for food that should take just a few minutes to prepare. C'mon man...it's just stuffed (or is it stufed?) sopapillas! I thought mexican food was quick and easy to prepare compared to other ethnic foods. Perhaps I'm just impatient. I've noticed the quality has diminished as well. I actually quit coming here but I wanted some of their queso and chips-which I really like. The other location is a bit better but again...gotta wait a grip for my grub! What's up with that?

#4 sopa Delicious...too bad it took 20 min through drive thru...super lame. I would have drove off if i hadnt signed card receipt. 7 minutes in line, 40 seconds to order and 15 plus minutes later i get my food. Friendly except that they should have explained or apologized for the radicously long wait...i should have turned off my car had i known....

Seriously seriously good! !!! I am addicted to their carne adovada!!!! I prefer the burrito with potatoes- but the sopapilla is good too. Tender and juicy- seriously good. You haven't lived until you have eaten here.

Today, August 13, 2014, was my first visit. Although I wanted a stuffed sopa, I ordered a Chicharon burrito instead. For 4$ I say it was worth it. The chicharon was crunchy and perfect.. added flavor to the fried beans and cheese. The size of the burrito, I thought, was the right amount of serving. I also added one sopa to my order. Some sopas are either thin, crusty, to much yeast added as an ingredient, or soaked with oil. This sopa was different--thick, kinda fluffy. It was good, not the best but good. I ordered thru the drive up--took about 10 minutes. Drive up orders shouldn't take long but that won't stop me from picking up some grub

What a great place! Just showed up at closing time, the whole staff was very kind. They let us order and encouraged us to stay and eat in the dinning room. I love a staff that doesn't roll their eyes when you walk in at closing time (I used to be that guy). Now onto the food. My goodness the carne adovada is perfect here! I think I've only ever ordered the #3 when visiting this place. If you find yourself at this location do yourself a favor and get that, you won't be disappointed!

Went here with much anticipation because I have visited the 12th street location many times. I must say I was not impressed. Don't get me wrong it was very clean and the service was super friendly. The prices are very good, three of us ate for $15 that included drinks. We got our food and my stuffed sopapilla was cold. I was very disappointed. My advice is go check out the. 12th st location you will thank me

Let me preface my comments by saying that the stuffed sopapillas at Stufy's are nothing short of a religious experience -- they really are THAT good. That being said, my issue is with the customer service I received at this particular Stufy's. To say that it left something to be desired suggests that someone, somewhere, might actually "desire" to be treated like an unwelcomed interruption in a restaurant's business day. I arrived at 8:00 am, their advertized opening time, to find the doors locked. A man came out, informed me, rather curtly, and completely unapologetically, that, due to a dearth of responsible employees, capable of coming to work on time -- if at all, they would be opening an hour late, and got into a pick-up truck and drove off. I was a bit perturbed, but not overly, at this point . I went home, and waited until 9:00 am, and returned to the store -- it should be noted that the food really IS good enough to warrant a return trip -- to be met by a big sign on the, still locked, front doors stating that they would NOW be opening at 11:00 am. Well, the food ain't THAT good. The fact that I was "greeted" (rudely) by a man dressed as a line worker, and left feeling, somehow culpable for the fact that no one can be bothered to show up for work at this particular Stufy's, and for the fact that they can't seem to open their doors on schedule, has left me with a really bad taste in my mouth -- and no sopapillas.

Let me tell you something. The menu at this place should be 5 items. They are doing themselves a huge injustice to keep it more. I mean seriously, the Nathans hot dog stufy is just stupid and tastes not good. Some things dont go together! Order the following and you will be in heaven. Stufys makes some of the best New Mexico Red Chile sauce in the state. Its excellent! #7 Stufy Anything Adovada Get a size bowl of sauce to dip everything in. A side enchilada (it is loaded in the sauce) ENJOY!

Wow. Delicious. We ate in and I got the hot dog, green chile, potatoes and scrambled egg stuffed sopapilla and my husband got the carne adovada, scrambled egg, potato stuffed sopapilla. Then we also got dessert-the apple pie one with delicious ice cream and powdered sugar on top. The guy who came out with our food was really nice and also brought some crayons and something to color for our son. It didn't take long to get our food, as others have mentioned, but we also went early, around 5:30. I highly recommend this place!

Friday night we went to study's. we ordered early but did get it right away. These other people came and ordered after us and got they're before us. So we got our money and left. The next day we went back and got our order early . And it was good.

The food was really good but they are experiencing some growing pains of being a new restaurant that is apparently very popular. The prices are great. The issues are that they were running out of things right when the dinner rush was starting on a Saturday evening. No chips and also heard they were out of tortillas before we left. Noticed a very slow drive thru line and when leaving the line was all the way to the door. Both partly because they were somewhat slow and also popular. Try it, I am sure they will improve as they are open longer.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
