I couldn't find a better chinese food restaurant in ABQ than this one. I cant get enough of chinese food from this restaurant. I try to go here 2-3 times a week either for lunch or dinner. This is a great place to go to with a friend for lunch and a perfect cozy place to go to with family for dinner. I recommend the beef and chicken shrimp and the sweet crispy chicken. I loveeeeeee the sweet crispy chicken, sometimes I would have a to go order so I can have it for lunch at work the next day. The owner and their staff are very friendly too.

This is our favorite Chinese food place in the city. We've been going here for a long time and each have our personal favorite dishes. We've had several dishes on the menu, and all have been good to great. The atmosphere is really nice, and lighting is modern. The people who work at the restaurant are the nicest people you will ever meet. My favorite dishes are the curried chicken and the fried Chinese eggplant. Other dishes that are are really good are the beef and broccoli and the pork fried rice. Highly recommended.

I can't believe I hadn't tried this place given it is super close to my house. Tried it based on the glowing Yelp reviews. The reviews were totally right! The place is small but I went at the lunch hour and had no problem finding a table and service was quick. I had the lunch special, Curry Chicken, which came with fried rice, egg roll and soup. The egg drop soup was just OK but the curry chicken was excellent. Also, at less than $6 you can't go wrong. I will definately go back..

Just had take out from Rising Star this evening. Never been there before but will definitely be back. Portions were in line with price - quality is excellent and one of the employee's actually chased my wife down in the parking lot to give her the chow mien noodles she neglected to pick up at the counter. The real test? My 5 & 9 year old loved the Egg Drop soup, chicken chow mien, very authentic fried rice and great egg rolls. I'm like Chinese food - I'm a newly converted fan of Rising Star.

I came to Rising Star because of the review. Privileged to taste varieties of delicious, authentic and some exotic Chinese cuisines in and out of US, I would give Rising Star a solid 3.75 good. The food was flavorful and not oily, and they came fresh altogether within 10-15 minutes (I came at 1:20pm for lunch and ordered from the dinner menu). The price was quite decent and the portion was appropriate. The service was also good and the restaurant was small in size and efficient, with a simple atmosphere. I was pleased with the food and the overall quality and have no problem recommending Rising Star for casual dining or take out.

This place was complete crap. I went there based on the reviews online. It looked ok at first glance but no outstanding atmosphere. I decided to get my food to go and wanted to try a variety of items so I went for the poo poo plater. the service was fairly quick and friendly. It was not until I got back to my hotel that the real experience began. I opened the brown paper bag to pull out my to go container only to find there was no container. They literally dumped all of my food into a brown paper lunch bag. The experience only got worse when I started to eat my food. The ribs were greasy and void of flavor with the exception of the overly sweet sauce they put on it that was obviously not made fresh in house. I ate one and moved to the paper wrapped chicken which was overcooked, chewy and soaked in soy sauce. The egg rolls and the crab rangoons were what you would expect from a $5.99 all you can eat buffet. I am convinced that the people who rated this so high must be related to the owners. I would never go back again.

This place is awesome! From their hot & sour soup to their pepper steak. I also tried their General Tso chicken plate- AMAZING!! I highly recommend this joint.

Definitely one of the best lunch spot in ABQ. I thought of being selfish and not even mention them but in order for them to continue, they need more customers. The price is right and the service is friendy. I specially liked Kung Pao 3-ingredient. Fantastic!

Home run! Where the hell has this place been??? Wow, and it's closer to my home too! Let's just get to the food, shall we? The wonton soup was, brace yourself, the best wonton soup I've had in Albuquerque. It reminded me of this place that my dad use to take us to back when we were kids and, going out to dinner was a once in a while (every other month) thing. Anyway, there was this place called the Great Wall (it's still there) in Farmington, MI that served up the best wonton soup - until tonight, I'm not sure I've tasted anything as good...seriously. Not all wonton soup is equal and neither is Chinese food. So, tonight I went total "Ga-why-lo" (white people) food...egg foo young, garlic shrimp and of course, general Tso chicken. They were all pretty good. I've had better general Tso but what stood out actually was the extremely fresh vegetables they used in all of there dishes. I mean seriously fresh. Not many Chinese restaurants use veggies like this, trust me, but these veggies were impossible to stop eating...seriously. The egg fu young gets its own paragraph. Speaking of the Great Wall again, they made a most excellent egg fu young there. Well...as I found out tonight, so does the Rising Star! I haven't had EFY like this in quite some time. So many places like to serve up variations to this dish...taking short cuts or steering clear of its Chinese-American origin, which never seems to work on my opinion...just stick to what works...like the Rising Star. Egg fu Young is the ultimate Chinese-American comfort food and the Rising Star nailed it. From the slightly over-cooked edges giving it a nice caramelized flavor to the very simple but savory gravy. It's comfort food at its best - trust me. Now, it's not the most healthiest of dishes but, if you've had a bad day...forget the pound cake or ice cream and go grab yourself some Egg Fu Young from the Rising Star and believe me, the only problem you'll be left with is squeezing your stuffed ass into your PJs! I can't wait to come back and try some of the other dishes fellow Yelpers have raved about from here. This place is clean, the service was off the charts and one additional thing to note...the owner, when she wasn't running her ass off filling carryout orders or taking tables, she was welcoming and thanking everyone who came in. Oh and one last thing to note...there were a lot of regulars in here - need I say more???

This place was pretty good! I had sesame chicken and I could tell it was freshly made to order, which is really awesome! It was crispy and delicious! My husband had the Mongolian beef, he was pleased. The dinner combos came with soup, fried rice, and an egg roll. Everything was good, the service was good as well. Many people came in for take out orders, so it seems popular for that as well. This is a solid place to get Chinese, it's well priced, the staff is friendly...very solid Chinese restaurant.

Love this place! We always get it to go but we have tried many of their dishes and all have been excellent. My personal faves are the almond chicken and the Mongolian beef. Husbands fave is the sweet and tangy chicken. This place is always quality, best chinese food in the city.

This place is hard to beat on the North East for price and taste! We came in huuuuungry, the staff was really attentive and fast like the state bird. We ordered soup, beef and broccoli and sweet sour chicken. Very cool service got us in a booth and this place is really welcoming. Tasty food on all accounts, fast and friendly and it appeared that this place does a lot of take out business...Enjoyed it to the tenth!

Consistently fine Chinese cuisine. Dinner combos allow everyone the chance to eat what they like. Always attentive service by the owner

Food is consistently fresh, especially veggies, and the friendly proprietors are always willing to accommodate special requests. Prices are very reasonable, too. We go there a lot.

I also had a very wonderful experience at Rising Star Chinese Restaurant. This was my first time eating here and normally when you show up 20 minutes before closing you're not very sure what to expect regarding the freshness or flavor of your food but we were very pleasantly surprised by how delicious it all was and how amazing the customer service was too! I sort of asked for something off the menu and the owner, Ike, who was also our server gladly accommodated my request. Needless to say my family and I will be coming back soon.

Excellent food for a great price. We have never been disappointed and the owners are always friendly - worth the drive from the southwest of Albuquerque.

Rising star! I have been coming here since we was a little girl. Try their hot and sour soup or they're kung pao chicken--- my favorites. The staff has changed little and has always been amazing to my family and I. This little stop does do carryout and it is worth a try. The only thing I can complain about is the location!

We had a great meal, seems to be run by a husband and wife team. They were extremely attentive and considerate with our children. The food came very quick and was all very basic and tasty. I loved the hot and sour soup. We also had crab ragoons, pepper steak, egg rolls, general tao's chicken and fried shrimp, all were delicious. Would highly recommend.

I was in Albuquerque just one evening and wanted some good Chinese food quick. I go the BBQ Pork with Vegetables, very reasonable price, and it was just delicious! Fresh veggies and the pork and sauce perfect. The man at the front desk (owner?) was very nice and friendly and smiling. Wish this place was in my hometown!

we actually found this little gem of a restaurant by accident as our original lunch destination (taco shel) doesn't accept credit or debit cards..odd. this wonderful family eatery was just a few store shops away and we are so glad that we found this place. the menu is vast and choices plentiful and if that weren't enough, the staff/management will practically cook anything to order. they go above and beyond when it comes to service and making you feel welcome. I would be hard pressed to name a favorite menu item because everything is spot on perfect, every time. this has become my favorite Chinese eatery in town hands down and arguably my favorite destination in general. it's a must try and we'll worth the drive from whatever part of town you're from. did I mention the owners are wonderful human beings? well, I guess I just did.

If you like real Chinese food, try some place else. The service was fine and the place was clean. I had Kung Pao three ways. Not well sauced. Won't be back.

I heard about this place from a coworker and immediately came to yelp and the reviews were consistent so I decided to give it a try. I got the general tao's chicken and it was amazing. They have great lunch specials. I think I found my new favorite place.

New management. Food is good And great value. Dinner specials for under $12. One item BBQ ribs were fatty and could not eat. Been here before and would come back. They keep lights a bit too bright for diner service.

Wow! I'm super impressed! I've been looking for a place like this for awhile. I ordered the Szechwan Chicken lunch special for a mere $6.15 or something. It included a small bowl of what may be the best hot and sour soup that I've ever had! I could just eat that for lunch - a big ol' bowl of hot and sour... The lunch portion was perfectly sized for lunch. I got mine with steamed rice, but you can get fried rice if you like. The chicken was plentiful and tender. The vegetables (celery, peppers, onions) were fresh and crisp tender. Service was fantastic. We even got water refills after we paid the check, which seems to never happen, ever. I got to taste the vegetable egg foo young, which looks awful but tastes delicious. The almond chicken and the orange chicken both looked really delicous too. Give this place a try - it's even worth a drive over from wherever you are. While I really liked Budai Gourmet Chinese, I think this place edges them out as a favorite. Enjoy!

I had an excellent experience here at Rising star. I came for lunch on a saturday and opted for the pepper steak and lemon chicken. Both items had tender meat in tandem with well balanced flavor. I had to pick up a to-go menu so I can order fom this place instead of a different restraunt I've been frequenting for the last few years. The atmosphere is fairly relaxed and not too imposing. I was concerned because one person said that the lighting in this place was too bright, but I failed to have any issue despite my vampire-esk adversion to light.

Visiting from Atlanta I was craving chinese food after having my fill of green and red chili. I found this restaurant on yelp and trip advisor. I decided to try a variety of dishes and they were all wonderful! We ordered the spicy shrimp and vegetables, Mongolian beef, house lo mein, and eggplant with vegetables. Each dish was very flavorful and authentic! They even delivered! Pleasant surprise !! Yummo!! Highly recommend !

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
