I stumbled across rebel donuts on yelp last week during my business trip to Albuquerque, which happens to have breaking bad inspired Blue Sky donuts. When I arrived at around 8am, I noticed that they didn't have any blue sky donuts displayed so I asked the lady in the front if they had any or if they were sold out. Turns out, they didn't have any made and that they were expecting a batch later in the day at around 11.30am. No problem, so I decided to explore Albuquerque some more and when I arrived back at around noon, they didn't make any as they had supply problems getting the blue rock candy. Mood was a little killed given I had to make 2 trips to Rebel donuts, but it was totally understandable, so I left and went back the next day. When I walked in with my fingers crossed, I glanced at the tray full of goodness. Hallelujah they finally had some! Unfortunately, the blue sky donut looked a lot better than they tasted as their other donuts (maple bar, glazed donuts) were much better tasting than the blue sky donut. If you're a huge breaking bad fan and its your first time visiting Albuquerque like it was mine, by all means try it, but if you're a donut aficionado, I would get something else.

One of the greatest things about Albuquerque is the abundance of local shops. So after hearing all the hype about this place, I gave it a shot. Maybe I'm just not quite a fan of cake donuts (or I have poor donut taste since I'm obsessed with Krispy Kreme? Heh.), so I thought it was ok. I got the salted caramel donut, and it was a little dry and not super flavorful, but it was nice that it wasn't overbearingly sweet. The donuts are reasonably priced since they're a little fancier than basic donuts, and with your first Yelp check-in you get $2 off a dozen!

Solid! I had this place bookmarked for a few reasons. 1. Breaking Bad fame. 2. I read that it was their 3rd birthday today (June 11th) and they were celebrating by giving out special treats etc. June 11th birthdays are the best! (Mine is June 11th, also, in case you didn't know!) I decided to bring my son Billy down here to check out their donuts. When is it not a good time for donuts? Maybe if you are diabetic? If you are not diabetic, then donuts are always fucking delicious! We drove down, parked and walked inside. When we walked inside, there was nobody else in the place. This was at like 4pm in the afternoon. There was one lady working and she was doing dishes or something in the back. When I said hello, she popped out of the back and apologized for the delay (It was no delay...we had just walked in. It was nice of her to be so courteous though!) I placed my order for a half a dozen donuts. I went with a double chocolate cake donut, a chocolate bar for my wife, a Breaking Bad "blue sky", a crumb donut, a chocolate mango chili donut and a chocolate, bacon chili donut. Since it was their birthday, the nice lady threw in 3 mini sprinkle donuts (my kid loved them) for free. In the flow of conversation, I mentioned that it was also my birthday and I think she hooked me up! I got 6 donuts, varying from basic to "premium" and my total was only a little over $7.00. I thought it would be more towards $9.00 with the flavors I ordered, but it was only $7.00! Score! The donuts themselves were delicious! The double chocolate cake one had drizzled chocolate on one side and sprinkles on the other. The donuts were moist and very cake like. The icing for all of them was more of a frosting, rather than a glaze. It was thick and delicious! The blue sky one had pieces of rock candy on it that gave it a good crunch. The chili donuts were great! They had just a bit of chili powder sprinkled on them...enough to let you know it was there, but not overpowering! The mango donut was probably my favorite of the bunch (I still have the crumb saved for breakfast tomorrow morning). Overall, these donuts were great! Service was awesome and it was extremely nice that they threw in free mini donuts to celebrate their birthday! If I lived close by, this would probably be my go to donut shop.

As far as donuts go, they've taken the crown. They're light, fluffy, and most importantly, delicious. If you aren't adventurous, don't worry, they have the classics. But, if you're up for something new, you've come to the right place. Coming from the Northwest, I was grateful to have VooDoo Donuts. I didn't think anything would ever come close to it. Rebel definitely has come pretty darn close. Between the donuts, the staff, and the atmosphere of the business, this is the place to be! Plus, coworkers have a lot of fun picking out fun flavors :) Enjoy!

Awesome!!! I was in town for business and I always look for a donut place when I'm out of town. This was a great find. A cool shop with a cool staff and some amazing donuts. Unique but not too crazy. The blueberry cake donuts are really good. I also had the maple pecan. Next time I will get the maple bacon. I will be back every time I am in town!!

I have to be honest I believe there is more hype to these donuts than what they are. I have visited when they first opened and some in between times as well as recently and all times "Rebel" falls in the ~~~median NOW, I give them credit for the creativity with flavors & presentation but the taste is right in between a Dunkin Donut & Krispy Kreme, the last visit the donuts were actually spongy :( The customer service is always good, I just hope they can recapture what they offered in the beginning when it comes to taste & quality!

First, I love donuts. With that being said, we felt compelled to try this place while we're in Albuquerque. Its hard to miss the black and pink sign. I'm glad we finally gave in! The place is nice. Small, but not cluttered. Its also incredibly clean. The service is excellent. We originally wanted a half dozen. The woman behind the counter laughed as four of us were attempting to pick out only six donuts and suggested we might want a dozen. After seeing their beautiful selection we went with a dozen after all. They have so many great donuts to choose from. Reallly. Red velvet, maple bacon, vegan, chocolate, Boston cream. Man, they are good. Not dry or crumbly the way some other places are. They are a bit on the pricey side for a donut, but they are worth it. The worst part of my visit was deciding which donuts to pick. Definitely a must try.

You either find Rebel on a good day or a "meh" kind of a day. We've been loyal customers for a few years now. I am not a fan of cake donuts, but always get several for my husband, sometimes, it seems the raised donuts run out and they just don't give a damn to make anymore. I've been in with family before, and attempted to buy a dozen raised donuts and been told we couldn't have them all. (?) I've also made donut cake orders and not gotten quite what I asked for. We continue to go back to them bc they're close by and when they're on their game the donuts are plentiful and tasty.

This is a great place to grab a treat. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. Love the mini donuts for a little sweet tooth satisfaction

Clearly this place is trying to be like Portland's amazing Voodoo Donuts...and they're not even close. The bacon on their maple-bacon donut is greasy, soft, and mostly fat. It should be crispy, slightly overcooked even. The frosting on the "Homer" tasted like pure sugar, and all the donuts looked sloppy, like they just don't give a sh*t. The prices aren't bad but that's because the donuts aren't great. Make a premium product and you can command a premium price.

According to Yelp, Rebel Donuts is one of ABQ's highest rated donut shops. Upon walking in, I was impressed with the size of Rebel Donuts, the selection, and the knowledge of the staff. Our Donut Artist was very knowledgeable, knew exactly what was in each donut, and even directed us to donuts that would suit my taste buds. I like the fact that Rebel Donuts even has a tray with mini samples. We shared a total of 6 donuts. Our picks included the French Toast, Pancakes & Bacon, Blue Sky (ie. the Breaking Bad Donut), the Pumpkin Pie, Coconut Chocolate Cake, and the Biscochito. My favorite was the French Toast. This is a raised donut and tasted exactly like French Toast. You know we had to try the Blue Sky since it was made popular from the series Breaking Bad. My thoughts, this donut was a little too sweet and probably would have tasted better if it was raised donut. I wasn't too impressed with the rest of their donuts and thought they were just okay. Overall, I was originally impressed with what Rebel had to offer until I had a few donuts. Maybe I came on the wrong day or wrong time. I thought that their donuts were too sweet and could have been fluffier. I thought that Rebel was just average in comparison to the rest of the candied donuts I have had in my life. Even if I wasn't too impressed, I still recommend that you give Rebel Donuts a shot. If you like donuts with all the sweet junk that's on top, then you'll love Rebel Donuts.

How's a girl to stay slim & trim in this town??? Adding insult to injury is this place REBEL DONUTS!!!! And the name, hellllo I too am a REBEL, so I had to check it out. Loved the appearance of the donuts & the taste, the fluffiness (cake donuts, light & fluffy... unheard of), pricing, did I mention the taste, ok yeah I did. I mean the design of it all, the sheer creative concept that went into the designing was ingenious!!!!! My chai was also very tasty & tongue teasing. I just couldn't stop drinking it, helllllo #loveatfirsttaste Friendly staff. Ample parking. Wide variety of choices & selections are available. My only complaint, is some of the donut a had sold out by the time I made it, bummer!!!

got donuts from here because we're visiting Albuquerque and the husband is a huge breaking bad fan and this spot has donuts with that good blue meth (rock candy) on it :) which was more cute and fun to buy but not so good to actually eat. I tried a lil bit of the blueberry donut, french toast, kalula and chocolate cocoa pebbles. they were pretty good but they definitely looked more impressive than they taste. adorable!

The fluffy panda wanted more doughnuts. A bunch of unique ones here, plus good coffee from Red Rock Roasters. Although the seemingly popular doughnut choice is the Breaking Bad Blue Sky doughnut, the panda does not pass up red chile. Red Chile Chocolate Mango (99 cents): Cake doughnut, mango icing, red chile powder. Excellent choice; the refreshing mango livened up the flavor and worked well with the red chile. Would totally buy again. Red Chile Chocolate Bacon ($1.59): Basically same as above, but sub bacon for mango icing. After having the mango doughnut above, this was merely OK. I mean, two thin pieces of bacon on top? At least I think it was bacon. Maybe it just needed a ton of thick-ass crispy meat crack to make me reconsider. Both cake doughnuts were light and fluffy. If you want to be a proper glutton and can give 24 hours' notice, have them make you a 14" doughnut for $20.

For quality, Rebel Donut deserves five stars. However, we were in town doing the Breaking Bad tour and were wanting the Sky Blue donuts specifically for the novelty of it. Well, the first day we went in they were out of the candy for the donut and said they should have some made by tomorrow. The next day, still no candy made thusly no Sky Blue again. They had other great donuts, yes, but this was a huge disappointment to me. That being said, Rebel Donut's donuts are truly great.... We ended up getting a full dozen to sample a variety and all but maybe one were pure gold. Creativity in their donut themes and toppings is unbelievable. The donuts that have a cake like consistency are my favorite. It's like nothing I've ever had in Indiana. Rebel Donut is certainly an experience everyone should enjoy.

These donuts are the best donuts of all the donuts. First off I'm not even a huge doughnut fan but they really nailed it. They are a great establishment that makes some pretty funky doughnuts with some creative flavors. If you want to take the real test to see if a doughnut place is legit- Get your plain glazed doughnut on. If they can make shivers go up your spine with a plain glazed then they win. THis place wins. They have even turned me on to cake doughnuts. I love them all. The inside is cute. The coffee is tasty! They offer almond milk which I super appreciate:) Thank you Rebel for making ABQ a little more cool and a little more tasty!

I have been to many bakeries with gourmet donuts but Rebel Donuts hands down has the best donuts thus far! You must try the chocolate red chile and bacon donut and the maple bacon donut (and of course they have the Breaking Bad donut). If your in the New Mexico area this is definitely a place to stop!

First time to Rebel Donuts and I'll be back next time I find myself in town. With such a huge selection I narrowed it down to a couple and then asked the lady behind the counter to help me pick. She was super friendly and picked a good one - The Dude! It was awesome and like she told me, you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Very reasonably priced at just about $3.50 for the donut and a water. Sure you can get a cheaper donut at a chain or a grocery store but they won't be this unique!

I am not by history a donut eater, but the name and the proximity to the shop got me to Rebel and I have never looked back. I like the classic cake donuts. Vanilla with maple icing, the Chai iced donut, chocolate with a choc/coconut icing. And they have a gluten-free donut selection, which allows me to indulge more often. I cannot compare to the others because I would not touch a Dunkin' or other commercial brand. This is my one and only donut go-to!

Glad Albuquerque finally got a fancy doughnut place! The doughnuts I have tried from here are always delicious. As far as I know they are all a cake doughnut base. Very friendly staff. Haven't tried any of the coffee yet.

I was craving for donuts in the worst way and a quick search on the Yelp App led me to this local spot. The interior was dim with a large glass counter adorned with colorful donuts from top to bottom. Their straightforward menu consisted of Classic Donuts ($.98), Fancy Donuts ($1.59), Premium Donuts ($1.89), and Top Shelf Donuts ($2.50). They also have delivery service that required advanced notice and fee. After a moment of indecisions, I quickly sat by the sunny window ready to devour my tray of donuts. My favorite of the day was the Red Chile Chocolate Mango ($.98). The donut had a firm exterior and soft cake-like interior. The smooth frosting was not too sweet, and coupled nicely with a anchoring chocolate flavor and a rising aromatic mango with a subtle red chili kick in the backdrop. I loved it. I highly recommend the Chocolate Dipped Red Velvet Donut ($.98). The chocolate flavor was complimentary to the cake-like red velvet with an discernible buttermilk flavor that rise to the finish. I initially thought it was going to be too sweet, but it turned perfect. I also enjoyed the Pancakes N' Bacon Donut ($1.59) that came with a buttermilk donut, maple frosting, and two strips of bacon. The bacon appeared dry and subpar, but the flavor was full on delicious. It was a heavier donut so it's not something I would get often. The only donut that did not stand out was the Blue Sky ($1.59). This famous donut has been drawing countless Breaking Bad fans to this donut shop. However, there was not much to the flavor aside from the novelty of the fake blue crystal meth made with crystallized cotton candy. Overrated, I don't think I would order this again. In addition to these flavors, there are many others interesting flavors such as the Red Chile Chocolate Bacon Donut, Candy Bar Snickers Donut, and Honey Pinon Blue Corn Donut. Overall, I thought their donuts needed a stronger infusion of buttermilk and refined outer texture to add to these interesting flavors. I like the fact that their donuts were not too greasy, as the paper bag did not soak through on my drive back Phoenix. Service was patient and friendly. My ultimate favorite donut shop is still Topped Doughnuts. I would be interested in visiting their downtown location on the next visit.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to review Rebel! Shame on me! As a certified donut expert (okay, a self-proclaimed donut expert), I was quite remiss in not getting to this earlier. Rebel is not the best donut shop I've ever been to. It's probably third. But the other two are 778 and 1111 miles away from ABQ (I'll let you try to figure out where they are). So, Rebel is the best donut shop you're going to be anywhere near today. They got their start capitalizing on the blue meth form Breaking Bad, and they still have it. As corny as that sounds, it's a good donut. But their best ones are the maple bacon, or the chocolate bacon red chili. Amazing. However, they have multiple other good ones. It's hard to go wrong here. Not only a good selection, but good supplies as well. Nothing is worse than going into a donut shop later in the day only to find a small handful of stale donuts looking back forlornly from the case. Rebel keeps a nice selection all day long. They also have nice drink selections and can make custom coffee drinks too. Suck it up, spend another hour in the gym today, and give Rebel a try. Bet you can't stop at just one!

Very good, artsy donuts. Generally leave quite satisfied. Can be a bit pricey compared to generic donut shops but worth it

I don't get the big thrill. Maybe I'm just not a huge doughnut fan? I like a good doughnut once in a while, almost always preferring cake doughnuts to "regular" ones. This was my first time in Rebel Donut, but the third or so time I've had one of theirs. A good friend brought a dozen over one time, including the famous maple bacon red chile which I just wasn't into. Cold bacon? Yuck. I've also never liked my bacon sweet, so it just didn't work for me. This time, I took my son and met my mom for a quick visit. I had a blueberry cake doughnut and a cup of Earl Grey (yea, they serve Choice organic teas, which are among my favorites), my son had a fruit punch doughnut (and loved it) and my mom had a chocolate cake doughnut with white and dark chocolate chips. My doughnut was good, but not amazing. I've had better. My son loved his, of course and as I've said, and my mom ate half of hers, gave me a bit and my son ate the rest. The chocolate doughnut was really disappointing. It was kind of dry and lacked good flavor. I hadn't been in this space since Dos Hermanos left and it is nice that they are maintaining local art work as DH did. However, it was 8:30 in the morning with the full morning sun glaring in the windows and the AC was not on. It was hot and uncomfortable. Thankfully, someone turned it on near the end of our visit. Though it was a perfect morning for it, no chairs were set outside on the little patio. I don't know if they use it, but they should. People would love to sit out there, eat a doughnut, sip their coffee/tea, and read the paper (or is that so 20th century?). I eat, maybe, two doughnuts a year so I'm no connoisseur, but I'd have to say I prefer Donut Mart's to Rebel's. Sorry, but it's true. I did love the photos of Aaron Paul and Dean Morris from Breaking Bad in there. Just for completeness, there were no Blue Sky doughnuts.

We came for the Blue Sky donut but it was FAR TOO sweet for my liking. Their Dosant was a yummy surprise. It was my first experience with a Croisannt Donut. My favorite though was the Chocolate Chile Bacon donut. It was perfect. And this is coming from the girl who doesn't like donuts.

I appreciate a good donut so I appreciate Rebel Donuts. While I've only been in 3 times over the last year, the selection has been good and the donuts have tasted great. Staff is attentive and friendly.

I grew up on dunkin donunts. Never again will I be able to eat there and be truly happy. Rebel donuts has ruined me with their awesomeness! I have never had a donut here that I don't LOVE. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The creativity is admirable.

Mmm... Donuts... *drools* Do you like donuts? If not, there might be something wrong with you. IF you are even a slight donut person... STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND GO HERE NOW! BEST DONUTS EVER. I'm serious, Krisky Kreme doesn't have S*** on Rebel Donuts. The fluffy lil fried lil pockets of euphoria sneakily tucked into a strip of shops for lease just north of Menaul on Wyoming whisper sweet somethings to the happy fat kid in me, ever tempting me to try one more of the amazing, mind-blowing flavors they concoct from that secret door to sugar heaven somewhere behind the beverages and menu. I've noticed there are a few home run favorites: Maple Bacon Bar, Breaking Bad donut (complete with people taking accidentally conspicuous selfies), The Homer.... There are cake donuts, feather-light and glazed donuts, divinely over-chocolatey donuts.... I had an orange creme donut that was stolen in 2 bites by my kids.... Colors, shapes, innumerable flavors... (Lemon Zia? Mind Blown.) No matter how I put it, these dough-frying angels have worked their way straight into my aorta. I'm told they have coffee. I heard Donut, donut? How about some donuts? Or maybe that was all I wanted... I'd also like to say the ladies I've encountered behind the counter (I call them "Joy Advocates") are so cool, they aren't even impatient when my eyes grow at the display counter and my deciding abilities leak out of my ear. They give my kids temporary tattoos! (I'm starting to worry that the kids want the logo on their arms FOR-EV-ER) So go there. Stop waiting. You know you want a donut... you lil rebel you.

I was really excited to get some incredible donuts here while on vacation. The donuts are good (not better than the mom n pop shops at home), but they have very creative toppings. The major bummer was that we arrived at 8am on a Friday and they were out of half the varieties already and no Blue Sky (the kind we specifically came for since my husband is a Breaking Bad fan).

Nothing against Rebel Donuts but I had to rate it 2 stars becuase of several reason. #1. Prices are way to high for what you get. Their glazed donuts are made from the smallest roller wheel. They charge .99 each when the cost to make is about .15 if that. Their other prices upto $2.29 for what they call a "Premnium Donuts" such as some of their cake donuts with frosting like a blueberry cake donut. They make them from a mix in a bag from maybe Bake Mark or Dawn Foods. The cost is about .28 per dount plus the cost of the glaze. Way over priced. #2 I am an owner of a donut shop in a different state and make the same type of donuts, Rebel Donuts claims to be an "Artesian". From their website Rebel Donut is Albuquerque's premier artisan donut, you should really check what this means before you say it. #3 The show Donut Showdown is a Food Network show for sure, but from Canada not the Food Network we watch here in the States. I know as I too was invited to be on this show. I'm glad they one, but please make sure people know its the Food Network from Canada not the states. #4 The quality of dounts are about what you would find in grocery store they are nothing speacial, they are just donuts. I rate them about the same as Voodoo Donuts from Portland. Anyone can put ceral on a donut and call it something funny, doesnt make it a good donut. I guess they should be glad Breaking Bad fell into their lap otherwise they are just a regular dont. Glad i came into though to see what the hype was about.

I will admit, I'm not a big fan of bacon. BUT after eating the maple bacon bar...ummm...there might be alot to be said about some good ol' hog meat. This was the first time ever, in my life, eating a maple bar. After that first bite...wow...I was stunned at the flavor! Amazing! I was bummed that they were out of "Blue Skye" but I did arrive late in the day so that was to be expected. My daughter tried the Spicy Chai and Mocha Loca. Spicy Chai...the taste reminds me of Fall...Halloween, cool Fall breezes and warm kitchens. Mocha Loca...meh. But that is only because I do not like chocolate cake, and this tastes like a RICH chocolate cake. I'm sure there are many fans of this donut. Also ordered their house brew coffee...GREAT with the donuts. $6 for 3 donuts and 2 coffees...in my book, DEAL! The cons....it was sweltering in there!! I mean like there was no A/C! They have a floor fan, but it didn't help much. Also, with the heat, flies. Not like they were all over the tables, but there were a few flies. I know it's summer and all...but it was kinda offputting. While we were enjoying our delicious treats a few more customers came in. Loud 4 year old kid screaming and running around the joint. Shrill screams to make your hair stand up. One group of women had some sort of drama brewing where fists where slammed on a table and "bitch" was yelled outloud. Not sure what that was all about, but that was our queue to leave. I'm sure I'll go back, in fact, I'll be there tomorrow morning. Most likely I will get donuts to go and not "dine in". Too hot and too much drama for this mama.

There are a lot of good, creative donut shops in the world today so I'll be honest that the only thing that really sets Rebel Donut apart is the Breaking Bad donut (aka Blue Sky). I was in Albuquerque near the end of the Breaking Bad phenomena and was a proud part of its following. I went around and visited the sites where filming took place.... and became a frequent partaker of Blue Sky donuts at Rebel Donut. During this time of obsessive fandom I tried many other flavors and can confidently say that overall the donuts aren't really that special. Even the Blue Sky donut is only really spectacular in that it makes me feel as though I am somehow a part of Breaking Bad. I do love the texture of the sugar rocks on top but the donut itself is not that spectacular. I actually found the donuts to be fairly dry as a whole. Some of the flavors are interesting, particularly the ones with chili powder, but I'm not sure whether 'interesting' ended up being a good thing or a bad thing. I'll admit that I really loved the donut with maple frosting and bacon (I can't remember what it's called) but plenty of places do the same thing... and often better. Rebel Donut is a decent donut shop with exceptional marketing and publicity. I applaud them for nailing down the meth donut because I think that's really their secret to success. It's a must-visit if you are a BB fan but otherwise you could probably be just as happy at any other donut shop.

I have great co workers who introduced me to these uplifting donuts way before I ever set foot in the business. These donuts can light up the faces of children and adults alike, and for about a buck a piece, that's more than worth it. They've got that glass case thing going so the little ones can be at eye level with their treat before indulging and the unique inclusion of bacon to fill the more mature set with glee. America should be running on these. And apparently it may just yet. Overheard the staff at the counter say they ship their donuts to folks out of state!

I've already reviewed the west side location for RD, I gave it massive kudos, if you want details on the awesome offerings of this local donut shop you can find my critique there. Simply stated, these people put the art in artisan. From a purely creative standpoint, Rebel Donut reinvents the breakfast wheel at a fair price. And they're local as all get out. This location offers more seating options, and it's a tad cooler. Otherwise, as I stated in the earlier review, support your local punk rock donut shop.

The best donuts in town hands down. Need I say more? Try the Kolache things. The bacon, green chile cream cheese is scrumptious! Sometimes the staff can be snobby hipsters though. Also expect to pay twice the price of other donut shops but it's worth it I guess.

How have I NOT written a review on this place yet?!? This is our go to yummy treat breakfast/snack/in between meal whatever you want to call it. You can just call it a delicious bite of heaven. The donuts melt in your mouth and they have such great and unique combinations. I love this place so hard. Honestly, I'm glad we don't live right around the corner because my jeans would be 2 sizes too small by now. But stop by cause your missing out if you don't!

Well I went to Rebel Donuts yesterday and I kind of have a so, so feeling about it. I was referred to Rebel Donuts by a good friend that raved about the place and I've tried the Maple Bacon Donut and I was INSTANTLY in love. Once I got there I was surprised that all of their marquee and much hyped donuts were gone. Even my beloved Maple Bacon Donut was nowhere in sight, my heart was broken and my day ruined. Well, I decided to get a dozen donuts of various flavor- no I didn't eat a dozen donuts, I had family members with me and we shared. Out of the donuts I tried, I liked the Grape and Strawberry cake the best. They both still pale in comparison to my beloved maple bacon donut but they sufficed. The others were just ok to me, they kind of came across as any flavor donuts to me. To all the donut aficionados of the world, I did try the regular glazed donut. Which to me was more in line with Dunkin Donuts and less Krispy Kreme. Now some people might like that but KK is the king of glazed donuts it my opinion and Rebel doesn't come close. All in all I would have loved to try their more marquee donuts but the ones I did get to try were still good and money worth spent.

Stopped by in the morning on our way to the superbowl. Great coffee yummy donuts and friendly staff. They also had Patriots and Seahawks donuts which we had to try and they were amazing!

I have to admit, I'm not a lover of donuts. I know, it's impossible to understand, but they are often too sweet and make me feel somewhat sick after ingesting one. My son however, is a huge fan of all things sweet and aspires to be a baker. We traveled to Albuquerque in a quest to try as many bakeries as we could and decided we would hit Rebel Donut on our way out of town. Honestly, I was a little worried since I knew I'd end up eating a donut for breakfast before a four hour drive, but I was being a good sport. After back tracking to find it (didn't see the sign the first time) we went in and it smelled pretty amazing. My son got two donuts, a Triple Chocolate and a Boston Creme and I ordered an Apple Fritter. I considered saving mine until later in the trip, but I already had a delicious latte that I purchased at Zendo (if you've never been there GO!!) and felt I needed more than coffee in my belly. I was so glad I did! The fritter was nothing short of perfect for me! It was sweet, but not overly so, the texture was soft yet chewy and there was lots of fresh apple and cinnamon flavor. My son was crazy about his treats as well, the Boston Creme being his favorite. About halfway home we both said we wished we had more Rebel Donuts with us to have another!

We have gotten donuts twice from here. They are some of the lightest fluffy donuts ever, and a sugar rush in every bite. I think these are much better than Dunkin's, the only variety I enjoy there is the French Cruller. The bacon maple is hands down my winner. I am not a huge eater of sweets, and the bacon wins me over. Bacon makes good in my book, though my arteries may disagree. Also bought the apple caramel which was tasty, and the fluffanutter which will not be selected again. I am still trying to get my dirty paws on the kolackys, which they make three savory varieties of daily. But alas as I am a night owl they have all been pillaged before my arrival both times we have made this venture north. For all you TV watchers out there, they were on food network I think in a donut battle in Dec which they won.

Stopped on by before a road trip. This shop is located about 2 miles from our Sheraton Uptown hotel. Donuts are smaller than your average sized donut, but overall delicious. Customer service was excellent!

This is not a good place to get donuts. The shop does not smell like vanilla. It has NO odor unlike its competitor Duke City that smells wonderful.

My mouth watered with the chocolate chili and bacon donut. Unfortunately they were out of the blue sky breaking bad donuts but that just means I have to come back!

Totally addicted! Moist, chewy, sweet, delicious! It's hard to pick a favorite flavor because new ones and holiday themes are always being introduced. Love Fluffer Nutter, PB & J, all of the Rebel Red Velvet variations, Triple Chocolate, French Toast, Chicken n Waffles!! I have also done private orders for events and weddings and it's a huge hit every time. Perfection!

En route to this establishment... we passed by numerous donut shops and damn... ABQ loves there donuts eh?! Came in here in the afternoon... the crowd was nonexistent and so were most of their donuts. I ended up getting 2 premium: - banana split = OMG this was delicious! The donut tasted like banana bread and the whole ensemble was just mouth watering and it definitely delivered. I highly recommend getting this if they still have it! -Boston creme = Another OMG... By far the best Boston creme rendition I've ever tasted! Friendly staff... good donuts... definitely worth checking out!!!

Love the donuts, attitude of the peeps inside, and supporting local. Top favorite flavor is the french toast donut (it tastes like the real deal!) but today I tried something new, a green chile cheese kolache. While the green chile was too mild for me, the light yet texture-i-ness of the pastry was fabulous and I'd definitely go for another one of those.

I had the "Sky Blue Breaking Bad" and the "Red Chile Chocolate Bacon". Both were good. I'm not usually a fan of cake donuts, but these were moist and flavorful. Beware that the Breaking Bad one will turn your whole mouth blue. LOL. That one is a fun donut but is really sweet because it has a sugar glaze and rock candy on top. Since we were tourists, it was a must have. The chile chocolate bacon one was excellent!! It was just the right amount of each ingredient where you could taste it but it didn't overpower the donut. I picked up a half-dozen to take home to friends. Their favorites were the "Peanut Butter Pretzel" and the "Snickers" donuts. They're a bit pricier than a regular donut shop, but the quality and taste were worth it. Also, the lady at the front who helped us was super friendly.

Stopped by and decided to try the Chicken & Waffles donut. It was decent - not too sweet shockingly, but for me I am going to have to return to the French Toast as my absolute fave.

Delicious! Is there much else to say? The best donuts I've had in Albuquerque. This place is a must!

Delicious. We were visiting Abq last year and while we did not have many pre-determined destinations, for some reason Rebel was one of them. We ordered six donuts at the beginning of the trip and ate them over two days. We sampled several different topics, including the Breaking Bad inspired Blue Sky. I liked the glazed as well. I would definitely suggest stopping at Rebel Donut if you are in town.

Visiting from out of town and had to see what all of the fuss was all about :) Glad we did...this is a great donut shop...yes expensive, but worth the splurge here and there. We absolutely loved the Rebel Maple the best! (My husband was ga-ga over the French Toast with "butter" frosting) Definitely check them out, great donuts, coffee, and fun staff!

  • Amy B.

Come for the donuts, not the service. The donuts are delicious and unique. My favorite is the red velvet, and my daughter loves the Barney Rebel. The customer service is lacking, and I felt as if I was bothering the lady behind the counter by asking to buy a dozen donuts.

  • Riley J.

I visited this adorable place on Sunday afternoon. The selection was few, but I still found a vanilla toasted coconut and a maple frosted! I also had a mocha coffee for the road, and boy was I pleased. I have to say that I love donuts, I love them, I would marry them, I would be buried with them, I would live in them, I absolutely love donuts. I love the costumer service here and I love the donuts here! I will definitely be back, but next time I am coming the minute they open so I can have full range on all the flavors they have! 10/10 would eat here again.

  • Mark P.

Ok, let me start with the fact that these were NOT the best tasting donuts. BUT, they had awesome variety of flavors that were fun and unique. Some trendy donut shops just have unique toppings or shapes, but these were unique in flavor and toppings. Next time I drive through ABQ I will stop!

  • Amy B.

Rebel Donut oh how I love you! It had been a while (read far too long!) since I'd paid you a visit and last week I stopped by one afternoon when I was in the area. I had a triple chocolate donut and it was better than I even remembered! Best afternoon snack ever! And THEN the nice guy at the counter offered me a sample of your new blended chocolatey drink....which you'd think I wouldn't want after my triple chocolate donut....but I did. And it was amazing. Delicious donuts and friendly, above and beyond service! See you soon!

I stopped in to Rebel to pick up a couple dozen donuts for my birthday (TO SHARE, I promise). The donut slinger /barista (is there a better name for donut slingers? ciambellista? hrm...) was very enthusiastic & helpful: describing all the donuts (since the names are fun, but somewhat opaque) and recommending I snag a pancakes & bacon donut for myself-- excellent advice. I tried more than a few varieties, and everything was tasty. I also got a coffee, which was solid, although I'm definitely no coffee connoisseur. I plan on swinging by Rebel again whenever I need a sugarbomb.

I drive by this establishment every weekday while taking my daughter to school so this weekend when we had some spare time and empty bellies, we decided to stop in. We walked in and were greeted by the staff, we were only going to do a few at first, but decided, what the heck, let's just get a dozen. Donuts range from $1.00 for the classic to $1.50 for the fancy. A classic dozen is around $11.00. Add .50 more for fancy donuts. Premium weren't on the shelves, but their pricing is higher as well. Our dozen consisted of the following: Pancakes & Bacon, Potato Chip, Fruity Rebel, Cocoa Rebel, Red Velvet, Rootbeer Float, Rice Krispie, Mint Chip, Classic Glazed & Double Chocolate. We immediately savored the Cocoa Rebel & Fruity Rebel (kids loved them), Red Velvet (AWESOME and my favorite), Mint Chip and Pancakes and Bacon. I must add, I was a bit judgmental, but it was actually pretty good! I guess bacon does make everything better :) We did notice that they had a Breaking Bad dozen, which apparently you should call ahead for since they fly off the shelves. Great gourmet style donuts. Unique and delicious. A must try in the Duke City.

Still tastes amazing post pregnancy! My parent came into town so naturally I had to introduce them to rebel donuts. They went back 3 more times. Great donuts and friendly service. They were happy to explain he donuts and their business to my parents. Can't wait to take our next guests to Rebel.

After my years of watching...well let's be real food porn on the Travel Channel and Food Network I was inappropriately excited for the gourmet donut scene to grace Burque. I've been to Rebel a good six times and the definite must haves would be the donut bread pudding and maple bacon bar. The filled ones are all delectable from the rolo inspired to the pink lemonade. I am normally able to go during the week, the one occasion I made the mistake of taking some Rebel virgins on a Saturday all of the really popular ones were completely sold out. At 10:30 AM on a Saturday, really? We asked the gal behind the counter when more bacon bars would be out and she said she didn't know, she then said the phone number was listed and if we wanted something specific to call first. Which leads us into the next tidbit- you get the sense from the staff that they're doing you a solid by serving you.

Delicious and so many different varieties to choose from. My favorite would the apple caramel. Wish they had one in Arizona or California.

DONUT HEAVEN. God blessed Albuquerque with Rebel Donut. Rebel's approach to donuts is parallel to that of cupcake houses. I was pleasantly surprised to not have a long line when I got there. I was around of regulars. It was fun to hear their orders. The donuts were fun and tasty and the staff was very helpful and passionate about their donuts. I liked their donuts so much, I packed some for presents for my plane ride home. Our most memorable ones were the bacon-maples, the rebel, their red velvet and one with cinnamon/butter.

Donuts with an attitude. Get yourself to Rebel Donut and try something different. Not too sweet and deliciously cakey donuts in all sorts of flavors.

  • Lou F.

Wow. I went in with great expectations. There were 5 of us in line and one counter person making espresso drinks. At least 2, maybe 3, people in the back laughing and gossiping about folks. I could actually hear what they were saying. Some catty stuff. When I finally got waited on, all I had time to buy was 2 boxes of a dozen minis. They were pretty but the cake of the donut was dry and very ordinary. I won't be back. Get your house in order.

My dad is working in Albuquerque, NM for awhile and as a gift he brought back donuts from here because he knows 1) I love donuts and 2) I love breaking bad. He brought home the blue sky donut with a variety of other donuts as well. I love the breaking bad inspired donuts because it makes a fanatic like me so happy, and the taste was good! I usually don't like cake donuts but this was an exception. I also REALLY liked the rolo donut, although it's very sweet, I really liked the caramel middle. Rebel donut is really awesome! I just wished the red velvet tasted a little more chocolatey and they had a thicker cream cheese icing.

  • Estelle O.

Rebel donuts are not your traditional donuts. Very unique. I'm sure it takes them longer to make than a plain donut. Pretty tasty! Friendly staff. My favs are the red velvet and the chocolate one with chocolate pebbles cereal on top... The name escapes me. A bit pricey but as I said- not your traditional donut.

    (4)
  • Ashley E.

The Barney rebel donut with fruity pebbles on it was by far the best thing I've put in my mouth this week. Pancakes and bacon was so good...I'll be honest, my husband and I split a half dozen donuts and that's about all we ate today. They were all SO good!! The Red Velvet cake donut, which I was prepared to be bored by had the most fantastic texture and flavor...I am officially a fan! Luckily, I just found out I'm pregnant, so I don't need to make up an excuse to go back ASAP!!

    (5)
  • Stephanie N.

Really good cake donuts. But there was only a few flavors to choose from when we came. It wasn't even near closing time! Maybe it was because of the breaking bad weekend finale. But I would assume they would be more prepared since I assume they expected how many fans would be coming to buy donuts that weekend. Over all though I do have to admit every donut we chose tasted really good. Better than dukes donuts.

Someone brought these to work and they tasted amazing. I don't usually eat donuts so I really can't say if they taste better than other donut places but the few I ate tasted good.

This place is great. The staff are super friendly and their baked goods are very delicious. I was beyond pleased with everything about my experience. Rebel Donut is a pillar of quality and excellence. You have not lived till you've had a Rebel Donut.

Rebel Donuts has great donuts, however, their customer service is far from great. The first time I went, I was choosing my donuts and the woman behind the counter seemed bothered (she was rolling her eyes) that it was taking me a whole 30 seconds to choose my half-dozen donuts. I wasn't taking long, but it was my first time there so I was quickly scanning through them as fast as I could, as to not bother the woman for a full minute rather than 30 seconds. I have worked in the customer service industry (and still do), and I am always nice and courteous. I'm the type of person that will not send my meal back at a restaurant if it's wrong. Anyway, after I quickly chose my donuts, I said "thank you" and "have a nice day" after I paid for my donuts. What did the cashier say in response? Nothing. I understand people have bad days, but you don't have to treat other people with disrespect - ESPECIALLY your CUSTOMERS who are PAYING YOU and THANKING YOU. I was being friendly, and I had no right to be treated that way. I understand possibly being rude if you're being yelled and screamed at by your customer, but this was not the case. I tried to give Rebel Donut a second shot. On the Sunday of the last episode of Breaking Bad, I called in the morning to see if there were any Breaking Bad donuts left. The man who answered the phone said, "Yeah, but they're going quick" in an extremely rude tone. I then said, "I'm sorry, I was just calling to ask if I could place an order because..." he cut me off and said "Yeah, we're not doing that." I apologized AGAIN, told him to have a nice day and hung up. He didn't even let me finish my sentence. I was trying to say, "I'm sorry, I was just calling to ask if I could place an order because I'm only a few minutes away and I wanted to place an order for six donuts." I understand it was a busy day for them, so shame on me for calling? He could have kindly explained that they weren't taking orders, but that I still had time to come in since there were still a few Breaking Bad donuts left, but that wasn't the case at all. Though their donuts taste really great, I think I'll stick with Dunkin Donuts, a place where they actually treat their customers with some respect. The rating I gave is for the quality of the food. If they had decent customer service, I would have rated this place a 5.

This is one of those places that employees kept me from trying more than once. I went bright and early one morning in July and the girls who waited on me were either not thrilled at being at work so early or just didn't like the job. I had just moved to Albuquerque and wanted to try the legendary donuts...they were good but the attitudes of the two employees made me not want to return. They were cranky, but then I paid using a card and didn't put a tip which evidently REALLY sent them over the edge. I mean...aren't employees supposed to thank a customer or something? By the way...I always tip.

Donuts were excellent. I had the apple fritter and maple frosted. Service was fast and friendly. Took away 1 star because they only had a fraction of the selection they have on their online menu. I will be back to try the green chile fritter. Edit. Went back and selection was even more limited. Probably won't go again.

I was very excited to visit this donut shop for its famous Breaking Bad donuts. however, they did not have any of those when we went. I ended up getting half a dozen that included a Barney rebel (covered with Fruity Pebbles cereal), Triple Chocolate, a Homer, Let it Snow, Snickers (which tasted JUST LIKE the candy bar) and a Pancakes and Bacon donut. I can't wait to try them all! Cool place and concept!

After hearing about Rebel Donut on the news, I decided to try it out. Rebel Donut is a great donut shop selling donuts (obviously), cakes, coffee, and espresso drinks. In typical donut shop style, an assortment of delicious dough rings are displayed behind a glass case... and that is where the similarity to your run-of-the-mill shop ends. The selection is heavy with out-of-the-box thinking with fun selections and a good glazing of pop culture. At my visit, I had the Maple Bacon log and the Birthday Cake donuts while my friend had the Red Velvet Rebel, a maple donut with nuts, and a cinnamon sugar donut. The Maple Bacon Log has real bacon strips on it -- utterly amazing and totally work the premium pricing. It's the best of both amazing breakfast foods. Rebel Donuts stands out with its selection of Premium, Fancy, and Classic dounts some with interesting names. The two that stood out to me were the Homer, the iconic pink frosted donut with sprinkles styled from The Simpson and the Breaking Bad , a ring of goodness paying homage to the show which is filmed in the Duke City. The store has been open about a month and the service, food, and website were very good. Bottom-line: A great new donut shop in Albuquerque specializing in unique, high-quality creations. Try it out for a real treat.

Came in for the Blue Sky donut and fell in love with all the other crazy amazing donut options. Bacon, maple, green chile, and so much more... so many combinations, so much deliciousness. Tasty coffee and tea and great service. Well worth the stop when you're craving a sugar overload.

So special! Most important food item in culinary history. Bacon. Donut. Staff is great. Last visit they were out of red chile bacon chocolate donuts. Staff went back into the magic room and made several fresh, on the spot, warm. This donut should be eaten in a quiet, private room. It is a religious experience.

Ok, a friend of mine brought these to a BDay lunch for us to have in place of cake (not a fan of cake but will eat a donut any day of the week). I laughed my !@# off when I opened the box. For one, they have THE most unique combinations. Breaking bad donut, Bacon / maple donuts (yes, there is a real slice of bacon on top of the donut) and samosa are just a few that we tried. We all took small pieces of each donut so it was a great way to try them all. I only gave them a 4 because although the flavors are fantabulous and SO worth a trip to the store, I am still a fan of the light airy donut that basically melts in your mouth. I know this is personal preference but I do not care for the cake like donuts that are denser. So - be sure to get a box the next time you are invited to a Bday lunch - you will make everyone smile.

Awesome, creative donuts. Affordable prices, Friendly staff - what more could you ask for in a donut shop? My faves: maple bacon of course, cookies n cream, smores. The breaking bad donut is a nice novelty, but i'm not a rock candy fan so 1 was enough for me. Took me a couple minutes to actually find the place since the signage isn't great, but once I did, it's my new favorite morning stop (and sometimes afternoon)...

  • Jesse Lu S.

Love this joint. I'm a big fan of cake donuts which is what they mostly have here. My personal faves have been- toasted coconut, bizcochito, and maple bacon. Also... I agree with the previous reviewer- the fruity pebbles donut blew my mind.

    (4)
  • Maurice H.

Yum! This is paradise! I don't know what to say except I'm impressed and I will never look at plain doughnuts the same way again - the maple bacon bar was the greatest! I'll be back!

  • Sara D.

Didn't really have high expectations for the donuts here. Thought they were more a novelty than for taste but I was wrong! So wrong. We had the crystal sky, which luckily we bought two of so we didn't have to share. The cake donut was fried to perfection. The maple bacon was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. And we had wonderful customer service. I just wish we weren't passing through so I could eat these treats more often.

  • Margaret M.

With such a hardcore name you don't expect it to be such a cute little place! But it is... They have a really neat variety of donuts, the off-the-wall gourmet ones you always see and wonder about like maple & bacon, or chocolate dipped rebel (red velvet), there is also a pre-pack of lil' rebels, which I will definitely be getting for my next adult gathering. Cute, fun, clean...dig it!

  • Kshanti G.

The donuts are decent but nothing special. Can't say I have any desire to eat bacon donuts so maybe I'm a humbug. The staff was also crabby and kept coughing (stay home!). But the worst thing was their coffee- undrinkable! Too weak! How can you have a donut without coffee?? I didn't know there was a krispy kreme a block away until I read these reviews. Next time we have a donut hankering we'll go there.

Just awesome donuts! The "Blue Ice" donuts are worth it by themselves.

I had high expectations when I decided to go to Rebel Donut. I was happy with the friendly service but was disappointed with the product. The ideas they have and combination of ingredients are interesting and fun, but I they don't particularly taste that great. The donuts I ordered were over cooked, dry, and lack the satisfaction that donut usually give me. I like what they are trying to do, but if I want a donut I'll be going to Krispy Kreme a block south from Rebel.

  • Stephanie T.

Not a fan of this location, every single time I have gone in they are always out of the French toast donut. You guys really need to consider making more if this one is such a popular one! Every other donut I've tried is very dry and taste old! I rather have dunkin donuts!

    (1)
  • Brian U.

Cool logo, donuts not so cool. The only type of donut served is the cake variety, thats fine if you like those kind of donuts. There are many other local donut shops that make better donuts. I also experience rude behavior from the employees, I won't be back.

  • Scheryl C.

I HAD to check this place out after hearing about it. I was so excited, I made a special trip "all the way out there" from the westside to experience what I THOUGHT would be the same blissful feeling I felt when I walked into Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR. NOT!!!!!! They only carry a couple of "different" flavors. The Red Velvet was VERY dry. I also had a pumpkin donut, which was acceptable, but nothing to make me make the trek "out there" again. I consider this trip a huge waste of gas (the auto kind). I can get a better donut at Donut Mart or Krispy Kreme.

    (2)
  • Alex S.

Cool little donut place with some interesting flavors. The selection when I got there was a little smaller than I was expecting. I tried the Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch and the Pancakes & Bacon, and they were both tasty and fresh. I'll definitely go back to try some of the other options. The service was fast and friendly.

On my way home... I couldn't resist stopping in for a fro-nut and a donut. Rebels Fro-nut I've chosen today is Chocolate Decadence with a Cookie & Cream Chocolate donut blended in. It's a flavor that reminds me of being a kid in my grandma's house. My grandma would serve me up a fresh slice of chocolate cake and I would pour milk on it. Something about that combination just awakened my taste buds. The Fro-nut is a cappuccino mixture made with milk a donut and topped with fresh whipped cream. So kool and refreshing! Very limited on donut flavors left for the afternoon ... I settled for a Turtle Donut. Yummy says this self proclaimed Donut Queen! Rebel Is At The top of my list today!
