COMME CI, COMME CA... I recently received a gift certificate for Outback as it has always been one of my favorite chain restaurants. So my fiancé and I decided to use it for lunch when we were visiting Albuquerque. When we arrived, we were seated right away. The décor was very nice...appropriate for the southwest, so that added nicely to the ambiance. Our waiter was Christopher and he was fantastic! He answered our questions about the menu, always had our drinks filled and was very professional yet friendly. My daughter is a server and takes pride in her work, so I am attuned to what 'good' service is. We ordered the Caesar Salad, which was tasty. My fiancé ordered the chicken tacos and said they were good. I got the Parmesan Pasta which is where the yumminess ended. It was totally tasteless. This used to be one of my favorites dishes, but it was a big ball of bland noodles...yuk! If I ever visit Outback again, I definitely will bypass the pasta! Chefs, please rethink this one!

I called ahead for a table for 5 plus an infant. We were celebrating my mother-in-laws birthday. When we arrived, they were very busy with people waiting in the lobby (which was under construction). At first the greeter said he didn't have a reservation...and then he said he did. I was immediately confused. We were seated in a booth. 5 adults and an infant in a carrier jammed into a booth. It was uncomfortable and we had to keep shifting to let people pass through the isle because of our diaper bag. The appetizers were delicious (onion blossom of course and some kind of avocado crab cakes) yum. I ordered a sirloin cooked medium... It was without a doubt medium-well. Hardly any pink at all. The meat had a strange grainy texture. The flavor was great but seemed over tenderized. The sides were phenomenal: macaroni and cheese and loaded mashed potatoes! The $$ was decent for a steakhouse. Apps plus 5 entrees was a little over $100. That's extremely reasonable. Our server was polite and helpful. At the mention of my mother in laws birthday he brought her ice cream which was a nice touch. Overall...ho hum not that exciting or amazing.

I had a bad experience tonight at Outback. They definitely have gone down hill since I last came here. They were way under-staffed and the few staff here seemed brand new. We walked in and there was no hostesses at all...We waited about 5 minutes for a hostess to show up. They were busy bussing tables because there weren't any bussers. We were quoted 25 minutes wait. I should have taken the no hostesses to greet us and no bussers available as a sign to leave. Person after person started complaining to the hostess about how they had been waiting for over an hour. I saw a seat open in the bar and grabbed it. We then waited for forever for our food. This is a chain restaurant..I'm pretty shocked management and corporate would allow this.

The service was great. Our server, James, was very attentive. Our meal was excellent. I have no complaints. I don't understand why it had a 2+ rating. They also have take out service.

Do not go here. I repeat DO NOT GO HERE. My husband and I decided to use up our gift certificate to this place. We didn't even get to order our food before we left irritated. We went there at about 4 o'clock. There was probably 4 tables seated and no one waiting. We were seated really quickly. That was the only thing that was done quickly. We waited, (with our 2 year old mind you), for 20 minutes without a single "be right with you" or "hi I'm your server so and so". Nothing. AND the server came to the table next to us and gave them their bill. But completely ignored us. Great service guys. Great service.

I had some time to kill so I walked over to Outback Steakhouse thinking I could have a quick lunch. Well, that's all it was, quick. Ordered the French onion soup and I found one piece of onion in the entire bowl. The cheese was nothing but gooey and the soup tasted like instant. The bill was served along with my soup. I needed a refill of my iced tea but never got one. I gave up and left, won't be back.

Going to call the corporate office tomorrow to complain.

We arrived about 5:30 on the Saturday after Christmas with a party of 5. We were seated in about 3 minutes. We we greeted & served by a very nice server! We ordered a variety of food & drinks. I was a bit disappointed by the small portion of my Margarita & the lack of a taste of the booze. We received food from French Onion soup (very good) to Lobster, Crab Legs, & ribs. All very good! We were in/out in less than an hour & the lobby was full on our departure. Very god dinner!

It's an Outback, they're all pretty much the same. Aussie themed, heavy on the steak and seafood. I had a ribeye, and it was pretty tasty. It was cooked right, so there's that. Also, the server was a nice enough guy and they got the food out promptly. What I don't like about Outback is their lack of beers on draft. They have like 3 or 4. Meh. C'mon, it's 2013, and you're in Albuquerque, a burgeoning craft beer loving/producing city. Give me some local suds with my red meat, man.

We waited almost 45 minutes for a table they said would be ready in 25. Our server wasn't very friendly, the food was the only decent part and it barely qualified as decent. It's 3 stars because it was edible and my boyfriend particularly liked his burger. I will pass on eating here again in the future, my steak wasn't cooked well and it had a texture similar to corn meal after a few seconds of chewing.

Got a steak and it wasn't half bad but the experience itself was aweful! The waitress just kept disappearing all night and kept forgetting about our request. Never even came to refill out cups.

I used to like Outback a lot because they have great tasting steaks and it's affordable. Yes, I am quite the frugal diner. I've been to this location about 4 times this year, all great, BUT my visit on Saturday night was subpar. As usual, the wait was long, party of 3 = 30-45 mins. (5+persons, be prepared for a 1.5 - 2hr wait.) Waiting in a small area of hungry bored whining kids and crying babies is enough to make you want to order a shot of something strong! But really, by the time we sat down 50 mins later, I was mainly just sleepy (8:30pm). My salad was mainly white iceberg lettuce and my steak, while cooked perfectly was TOUGH. My daughters steak was tough as well, her boyfriend played it safe and ordered a burger. Service is above average. I do wish I spoke with the manager about the quality of food, but I couldn't find her. Less than tasty review this time around. :/

This restaurant or more particularly, one server at this Outback was some of the best and most attentive servers I have received anywhere. We all know what to expect food wise going to Outback, and this Outback holds true to the usual food. We did have a few issues with how well or in my case overcooked the steaks were, but overall excellent steaks and sides. The reason I am writing this review though was because of the service. If you get the gentleman, you will know who I'm talking about and will be incredibly impressed. My glass was never below half full, the table was cleared and cleaned in between appetizers, bread, and salads, and he knew the menu inside and out. HUGE kudos to this Outback for the service. note : my wife says his name is Doug. Ask for Doug.

I've been to several Outback locations across the US die to my job. I was hesitant about coming here after reading the reviews on Yelp. I got the Filet topped with blue cheese- it was cooked to perfection. The salad was just a tad smaller than normal but the (slightly) heavier pour of the wine made up for that. I would def return. Sit in the bar area and get cheaper apps and drink specials all day.

We went to Outback for lunch yesterday. We got the blooming onion to start off with. Thw batter tasted really weird and the onion was not cooked all the way. It was hard to separate. I had the french onion soup next and it was delicious. This is my favorite thing on the menu! I ordered a 6 oz filet and sweet potato fries. Both were cooked well and tasted good. My husband on the other hand ordered a ribeye and it was over cooked. The waitress took the entire plate back leaving nothing for him to munch on. Luckily she comped the steak, but it took another 15 minutes for his new steak to come to the table. By then we were all done eating.

Two things to note about this place - average at best and S - L - O - W. I had to wait 10 minutes before a wait person even noticed me. They were not busy so there was no excuse for such slow service. The food was average. Nothing special. Not good not bad. The seating is cramped and uncomfortable. It was a less than pleasant experience. I have enjoyed other Outback Steakhouses but won't be back to this one.

I wasn't expecting much. It's Outback. It was my Mom's birthday. My Dad called for a reservation the day before, for a 4:45 arrival. We arrived on time, but they made us wait for 15 minutes because they didn't have a waiter for the table we would be seated at. Defeated the purpose. When we finally got seated, the waiter we were waiting on still wasn't there. We had to wait even longer! I asked the hostess if we could get waters and teas. She seemed frightened by the request, but took our drink order right away. Our waiter, James arrived and was very quick to get a food order from us. From then on our dinner was great! The food was very tasty(Coconut Shrimp, sirloin and lobster, burgers) and our drinks were always refilled without having to ask. I was glad that the night turned around and we enjoyed our meal.

We've been to this Outback many times and on this particular occasion, the parentals wanted a family dinner for 7 people at 6:30pm on a Saturday. So right away we knew we were going to have to wait, and wait we did, 55 minutes of it out on the sidewalk because all of the seating areas were full. But once we were sat, our waitress was friendly and took good care of us. She kept our drinks full, the orders were all delivered as ordered, even the steaks were cooked right. Though I have learned to order the filets medium rare here to get medium. Do we love this place and want to return often? No because we prefer local joints, but to satisfy a group of different preferences it's ok for what it is. My best experience for this place has been when a couple of us from work need to get together, we get a table in the bar and they let us sit there for hours over an app or two and keep the sodas/coffees full.

Wow - Outback has really gone down the tubes. This used to be one of my favorite places to go and I used to go at least a couple of times a month. The food was okay but my boyfriend didn't get his meal until after I was done. They put horseradish on his steak instead of blue cheese. Then when they brought the new steak, it wasn't cooked as requested. A "pitcher" of margaritas was $16.00 but it was very small and only enough for three drinks. It would have been cheaper just to order the drinks separately. Management was kind enough to take off both of our meals and buy us our margaritas, but that was after I pointed out that they didn't use the $10 gift voucher that I had given my server earlier in the evening. At least the wait staff and manager were attentive and good about the whole thing but sheesh! That's why they get at least one star - the staff were mortified. We finally took the steak with us so that we could get home and relax after this ordeal. We ended up throwing it out because it was cooked too much to begin with and would not be fit to eat when reheated. Again - too bad - I really used to love Outback :(

We've dined here several times before....last night we gathered with friends for a going away dinner. The hostess of our dinner didn't make a reservation or utilize call ahead seating (party of 6) so we ended up waiting in the bar for about 30 minutes on a Thursday night, we were quoted 45 so this was a pleasant surprise. Bar service was great, bartender was very attentive, I ordered a top shelf margarita and it was decent, I'm a tequila snob, so I like mine smooth and strong! My husband had a draft beer - typical, nothing special. We ordered some cheese fries to help us endure the wait, I like that you can order a small or large order now instead of the huge order you got before they changed their menu. Once we were seated, we were greeted pretty quickly by our waitress with bread and drink orders were taken and returned within 5 minutes, including alcohol. I decided to try their Sangria sampler and it was delicious! If I had to order just one, I'd definitely go with the strawberry peach. It was reasonably priced, 3 - 4oz. glasses for $7.75, compared to my one Patron margarita for $9. Once drinks came out, we were ready to order since we already peeked at the menu. I went with the Filet and Lobster tail ($23.99), my usual along with the baked potato and house salad. Salads came out fairly quickly and meals not too long after, maybe a 15 minute wait. Everything came out as expected, no surprises. Overall, it's a chain. You know exactly (well for the most part) what you're going to get every time you order. The quality of the steak seems to have gone down a little, but you get what you pay for right? Be sure to utilize call ahead seating - it's a nice feature for any restaurant. I don't know who "likes" to wait, especially when you're hawngry!! :)

Let me say at the outset that I'm not a fan of chain restaurants. That being said, my experiences at this location have been okay if this is what you're looking for. Food was decent, but the quality and taste of the food is primarily the basis for my review. Service is generally good. On my last visit I was part of a group of 8. We had made a reservation. When we arrived 5 minutes early, the hostess advised that our table was not ready, even though the restaurant was more than half empty. After 10 minutes passed, she returned and offered to seat us, but wanted us to know our waiter had not arrived yet. What?? Bizarre if you ask me. We decided to be seated and they brought us drinks. Our waiter James D. quickly arrived. He was extremely attentive throughout our meal and deserves props for his work. Only glitch was one side dish ordered never arrived, but other than that, we had an overall pleasant experience.

My wife and I came to eat dinner, she ordered the outback special medium well and recieved a medium rare. I ordered the T-bone medium rare and recieved it rare. My wife sent her steak back to have it cooked more only to have the outside of her steak burnt and the inside medium rare still. My wife decided to order the Alice Chicken instead. This is the second time we have had this problem here and probably won't be back ever again. At least this time they comped her meal. Last time they offered us a free desert but charged us anyways.

Corporate restaurant meets real world folks and the disconnect couldn't be more visible... The restaurant is slammed on Father's Day, and even with an additional waitress, drinks were not refilled, bar orders asked for several times before delivery and shenanigans with portion size. My poor review is aimed right at Outback corporate. They have tried to minimize their costs so much that it's taking a huge chunk out of quality. It simply isn't worth the price and as far as I'm concerned, we won't be back. My dad picked the restaurant. He ordered a steak and I ordered the lamb. We both usually get the lamb, but he wasn't feeling it. Good thing; I got half of what I expect to get. His steak wasn't anything to rave about and his side of asparagus was an extra buck. Give me a break! The more I thought about the tiny portion I got at 22 bucks a plate, the more pissed off I became. My waiter chatted with me about it in a quiet conversation and he bluntly agreed. He relayed it onto his manager, and after having been with Outback for a couple years, also bluntly agreed. Basically, the lamb has been chopped! In short, Outback is aiming for, "consistency," and, "speed." They are not aiming for quality in a full rack, or at an honest, market size. I'd estimate i got 6oz's by weight after cooking, without bone. I'd expect 12 at minimum. They do not sell racks, just precut chops. I was told they do have 1 rack, uncut on hand, just in case. If I were to ask, the next time, I could get it made to order. The manager, Ruthy, had the kitchen make another rack, proper, and she personally serviced the plate. She made it right while Outback corporate takes advantage of returning, long time customers. If this was how Outback always was, I'd be fine with what I got and they'd be assured that I'd never return. I hate, HATE, having my expectations (as a returning customer) blown, because this huge chain tries to up it's profit margin by increasing cost, decreasing size and effectively tricking returning customers. Thank you to the staff and Ruthy, you were nice people tonight. Sorry you're understaffed and don't have the proper help to get you through the night. Thank you for making it right and being honest to the customer. I won't be buying from any OSI Restaurant chain in the future, because I do not feel that they value the money I spend. I also do not feel if the customer isn't first, the employee sure as hell isn't either. The wonderful thing about America is that I can help fix this problem by not spending my money with these guys until they repair their reputation with their most important stream of cash flow: me!

Had a blooming burger which was fine and service was OK... I was being treated so I didn't pay a lot of attention to details as I was busy with a client. I did think what I had was a bit pricey and I don't remember being offered a refill on my iced tea.

Outback as a chain has recently lowered the quality of meat they use for the prime rib and it's AWFUL. Their prime rib used to be wonderful and now has a lot more fat and gristle. In talking with a chef there, yes I asked to speak to a chef about it after my 2nd bad prime rib experience, he told me that they had lowered the standard of the cut of meat for the prime rib. I will stay away from the prime rib until this situation gets taken care of. They were training a new waiter at our table and the service was fairly slow and they were quite slow to refill the drinks. The amazing thing was that after we got our food people checked on us every time we put food in our mouths.

Meh. Poor service, unorganized, food came cold, undercooked for some. It's outback, I was only expecting 3 stars, but this was less than even mediocre.

So my boyfriend's a late worker and we decided to eat here about a half hour before they closed. Our waitress was nice and we ordered the aussies cheese fries. Pretty much a plate of fries covered in hot melted cheese and bits of bacon. It was the best thing I tasted. Our steaks arrived and I asked for mine well done. I cut into it and the steak was bleeding all over my plate. I normally like my steak this bloody but since I'm expecting I have to forego somethings for the growing spawn. I sent it back and my boyfriend had ordered his stuff to go since he wasn't feeling very well. My steak, the same one I cut into, came back blacker than the waitress's hair. I know it was near closing time but jesus, did you have to scorch the thing? It was a 6 oz. which was small enough already but I mean the thing was BLACK and hard to cut into. I ate my baked potato and poked my steak hopelessly. By this time my bf had started feeling really bad and I was getting worried. The waitress came to check on us a few times and saw the state of my steak but said nothing nor offered to do anything about it. She was in a rush to leave, obviously. I finally told her that she forgot my house salad and since my boyfriend wasn't feeling so well could I just have it to go. She was nice enough to make it to go for me. We paid and left, I was more concered about the health of my boyfriend than the complaint I wanted to leave with the manager and since we had an hour drive ahead of us we just left. As my boyfriend attacked the leftovers the next day he realized that the steak he ordered was also very undercooked. I don't think I'll ever go back to this place. Their guarantee of preparing the steak you want it while still being flavorful and juicy was obviously not a gurantee. I cannot believe the waitress would want to serve a steak like that! Isn't it her job to make sure the food looks or at least appealing, if not don't serve it!

Save your TIME... NOT worth the WAIT. Don't make the same MISTAKE we did and buy in to their 20-30 minute wait SCAM or only one more person ahead of you BS. We were suckered buy their game for an hour and a half. The manager provided the obligatory insincere apology. This is twice... We are NEVER going back!

  • Tracey J.

We went here last night thinking....yeah, it's a Thursday...no WAY they're gonna be too busy. WRONG! They were SLAMMED! We come to this location once every couple of months so the 4 stars is for our overall eating experiences. Based on last night though, it would've rated 3 if it had been our first time. They hostess told us a 10-15 minute wait.....it was more like 35 minutes. Our waitress was great.....everytime we've gone the waitstaff is great so service is never a problem. She brought me a salad comprised of mostly frozen lettuce which, pardon the pun, was not cool. The nice thing is that the manager brought out a fresh salad with apologies....apparently, they don't fool around when it comes to pleasing their customers. Nice touch! My steak was great last night. Occasionally, the steak is a fatty lump.....especially compared with my husbands. It kind of sucks when 2 people order the same thing and they bring out one perfect steak, and the other a crappy one that is half gristle. That's probably my only problem with this Outback. Overall, this is our steakhouse of choice (especially since we no longer have a Steak and Ale).....we could go to a "better" steakhouse like Black Angus, but we just can't afford it LOL!
