Ok... I know this is a chain, I know this isn't authentic fresh-made Italian food and I know that service can be hit and miss but but despite all of that - I really love OG. I love the hot breadsticks, I love the salad and the dressing, I love the freshly grated cheese on our food, I love that they aren't ridiculous in pricing, I love their wine selection, price and presentation, I love their portions, I love their desserts, I love that their take-out has everything you'd get if you dined-in and I love that little Ande's mint that comes with the check. I love that no matter where you are and you see an Olive Garden you know exactly what to expect and sometimes that counts for a lot. I've been a fan for years and no matter how many times they change their menu, or I get and off-server or the wait is over an hour I'll always be a fan!

Worse location for service. We keep giving them another chance and regretting it every time! Fool me twice, shame on me!

This is my best favorite restaurant for Italian food in this location and the tour of Italy is the best and the tiramisu so good for dessert.

Waiting at bar for friends & would have had an appetizer except no one came near me to ask--lost money there & that is just lack of training. Other service was good but EVERYTHING but the salad was sooo salty I couldn't eat it & I'm a salt eater--my husband couldn't believe it. It is just a mouthful of salt! if you have health issues it ain't the place to be. I think the food would have been good if one could taste anything other than salt.

OG has been - in the past - one of my favorite places to go, especially for lunch and soup, salad, and breadsticks. However, their entrees have gone downhill drastically. Hubby and I went on Friday night for my birthday dinner, and it was forgettable. The pasta fazoli soup is terrific, and Hubby's salad came without the peppers and onions that he requested be left off, but without the ranch dressing that he requested in place of the house Italian. He ate it anyway. Hubby's dinner was the Tour of Italy - chicken Parmesan, fettucini al fredo, and lasagna. According to him, all three were pretty terrible. The chicken was a chunk of chicken, breaded and deep-fried to a crisp, with a little bit of sauce on top - the cheese was added with the grated romano. The al fredo was so dry that he had to ask for some additional sauce, which didn't help much. He said that the lasagna was just edible, but wasn't very good. I ordered chicken marsala, which came with a side of "a blend of roasted potatoes." First, this wasn't really a blend--to me, a "blend" is a mixture of three or four different items. There were russet potatoes and sweet potatoes in the "blend", and they were under-seasoned and dry. Where were the red-skinned potatoes? Where were the fingerlings or the purple potatoes? The marsala came with three pieces of chicken pan-grilled, with some sauce and a few sauteed mushrooms. The sauce was over-wined, if I can use that word. The flavor of the sauce was overwhelmed by too much marsala. The on-duty manager came to the table and we really unloaded on him, and told him how unhappy we were with our dinner, especially as it was a celebratory dinner. So? What did we get? A few "sorry about that" remarks - no adjustment of the bill, not even a complementary dessert with a candle. We won't be back.

So when I say "I feel like eating Italian food", Olive Garden isn't the first restaurant that comes to mind however for lunch I do like their soup, salad & breadsticks. I read a review where someone said something about the service and that's not how we Italians do things. Well just a reminder, you're in America at a chain Italian restaurant, that's how American's do it. Sorry, on to lunch..... Great little "extras" you can add on for lunch at a fair price. A little plate of spaghetti or adding some meats and cheeses to your salad. We just opted to add Alfredo dipping sauce for our breadsticks. It's always warm and makes their yummy breadsticks even better. Soup was good as always but we both failed to get one gnocchi in our gnocchi soup. I didn't complain to anyone at the restaurant because things happen and I'm just grateful the person that got a ton of gnocchi was probably pretty happy. Our waiter had a huge section but handled everyone well and efficiently. Great place for lunch!

OG has been a favorite of ours for years. NOT ANYMORE, the food is terrible for the last 3 visits, sticky pasta cold sides, lackluster flavors. And if that isn't bad enough they now have kiosks at the table that the waiter is quick to point out that you can order things your self like refills of beer children's Meals so on and so forth and there's games to play and trivia and whatnot , the waiter fails to tell you is at the end of your visit you will be paying two dollars for those table games that they have placed there, if I wanted to play a table game and pay for it id go to the casino. It's REDICK to think that anyone should pay 2$ for browsing the kiosk while waiting for your order!! We will never go to OG again.

Man oh man, I was seriously disappointed when we ordered some food to go from Olive Garden. When we placed the order, they said it'd be about thirty five minutes till our stuff would be ready. Cool, that works. We showed up ten minutes before our pickup time...our food was ready, but, stone cold as if it had been sitting out for a bit. The portion sizes were pretty pitiful...$13 for six mushroom ravioli's with a few sprinkles of sauce (no flavor at all). The salads we got with our meals were a little boggling....one container was stuffed while another had a few shreds of lettuce and a single ring of onion. What gives? Point blank, I feel we wasted our money considering I ended up making sauce once we got home and realized how much the food lacked flavor. Just....blah. What ever happened to quality food??

This is a great place for a casual lunch with friends or a comfortable environment to bring the grandparents. The food is pretty consistent here; it isn't out of this world, but you always know what you're getting and they rarely get it wrong. Service is sometimes hit or miss, but for the most part the staff know what they're doing. On my latest visit, I tried the rosemary chicken with spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. It was the perfect portion size, and the flavors were all great. It was a new dish for me, and I would 100% order it again. As much as I love their pasta dishes, I didn't miss the bloated feeling....you know, the one that makes you wish it was socially appropriate to unbutton your pants in public and maybe lay on the ground until it passes? None of that happening with the rosemary chicken. The salad and breadsticks were great as always. I also tried the bruschetta; good flavor, but I wish they would toast the bread a tiny bit longer. The zeppoli make a fantastic end to the meal, but the portion is definitely enough to split between 4 or more people.

So, Venetian Apricot Chicken for 400 calories (of which I ate half) had a nice flavor and they cooked it well, which I asked for. They mutilated however, the beautiful asparagus, it was so bad I could not cut it. It could have been wonderful, they were small and tender looking stalks. The broccoli was cooked well and delicious. Good meal for those calorie counting ! Just beware of the overlooking of the veggies, ask them to steam them gently.

My wife and I have been regulars at olive garden restaurants around the country for many years. This past mothers day we were unable to go into the restaurant due to me having knee surgery. As a surprise I had my brother order us from their drive up service. Well this was the worst experience I have ever had with any olive garden or pretty much any restaurant. Our order was pretty close, they forgot to give us 1 salad with no tomatoes, onions or pepperoncini my wife is allergic and unable to eat the salad. Then the noodles in my wife's fettuccine alfredo were on cooked and chewy. In my order I got the tour of Italy and the fettuccine noodles were also chewy and not thoroughly cooked, the chicken was hard and dry, the lasagna tasted as though they cook had poured on hunts spaghetti sauce. Both the meals were cold. Upon calling to speak to someone about our experience the woman I spoke to sounded as though she could care less that I was unhappy. She told me they were busy and she would have the manager return my call as soon as possible. That never happened. I will not be returning to this olive garden or any other again in the near future. I guess it Bucca de Beppo from now on.

Olive Garden is one of the biggest reasons I try never to eat at chain restaurants. The food's not bad. Of course, it's not bad. It's just safe to the point of being boring, inoffensive to the point of being completely forgettable. It's so easy to find a local restaurant with excellent food for the same price, that I cannot imagine why anyone would opt for Olive Garden. Well, unless they're traveling, perhaps. Or they get a giftcard from someone. This particular Olive Garden is just like every other Olive Garden I've ever been to. Efficient, friendly service that wears on its sleeve the ulterior motives of up-selling and shuffling customers through quickly. Wine, appetizers, specials, and desserts were pushed on us at every opportunity with a heavy-handedness I found irritating. And once our server got the point that we weren't going for the high mark-up fare, he all but ignored us. Other than that, the same menu, consisting largely of lifeless pasta in mediocre sauces, can be found at this one. The same artificial Tuscan ambiance that reeks of corporate-sponsored focus groups. The same impersonal efficiency and canned questions like, "how is everything this evening?" The same absurdly long lines during peak hours. For me, the whole thing makes for an unpleasant experience. It's too sleek and shiny, too manufactured and soulless. I won't be spending any of MY money here, I can tell you that much.

Or lunch today was not a good experience. The people were fine, but the food was poor. I had the greasiest chicken with Alfredo I have ever had, couldn't even finish it, pathetic. I will not be returning any time soon. This place is waaaaay over priced too. Good Italian food is a rare thing near Rio Rancho, bummer!

My husband and I went here for a child-free lunch this afternoon. Our server was a very nice lady. While she was busy she always made sure to check on us and keep our glasses full. She was very attentive and even joked with us. The food was good but nothing to write home about. All I can say is it was typical Olive Garden fare. I had the new rosemary chicken dish. It was flavored very well and the portion size was appropriate. I had enough leftovers for another meal.

We just left Olive Garden. We used to love this place but no more. First they sat us right next to this paper thin wall at a booth that divided us directly from the sink at the bussing station in the kitchen. Even though there were MANY different places to seat us, they choose to put us there. The restaurant just opened at 11:00 am when we arrived and I swear there were only six customers in the whole damn place when we got there but they STILL INSISTED on putting us there! The worst table in the house and they knew it! The bangs and slams were so loud that they actually MOVED our drinks on the table and banged at our backs and sides like some snotty kid constantly kicking your seat on a freaking airplane! We complained to our server twice as well as the female, short dark haired manager but nothing was done! They only offered us lame jokes. "Ya, it's a bit like a bowling alley in this booth huh?" They knew this was the worst table in the house but they offered NO concessions whatsoever! Not even a different table since it would, "Mess with the servers designated stations." Folks, this part of the experience was SO bad we actually asked our server if we were being punked! Anyway, my date ordered the Stuffed Parmesan Chicken that had the grossest aftertaste we've EVER experienced and I can't stress that enough. I ordered the Seafood Linguine that wasn't bad, just chewy and fishy. Good thing I like chewy and fishy huh? Still, in all fairness, I liked it. The bread sticks were super hard (inedible) on the 1" ends, the marinara dip was BEYOND acidic and the salad & salad dressing were sparse at best and limp. ("limp," referring to the salad vegetables) Our server was attentive with drinks and prompt in bringing our food but the fact that he just blew off our complaints with the incessant banging and deafening noise, he gets an overall 4. The food gets a 3 overall and we're being generous people, trust us. This was a total waste of a $50.00 lunch. We will NEVER return to Olive Garden again. Not the one at the Coors location or any other for that matter. The Olive Gardens quality has hit the dirt. And thank God we didn't enjoy the salad or the bread sticks whatsoever since it seems the OG wants to desperately save money and offer you the bare minimum of them and almost have you beg for any additional, "unlimited," salad or bread! Try TGI Friday next to them or Chilies. We never go wrong with either of them.

What a horrible experience! The food was horrible! Our server was even worse! Thank goodness for the new manager in training for saving us from paying over 100.00 for underrated food!! Ugh.. Never again Olive Garden! Never will I take another step back! Yuk!!

As one of the pack leaders of mega chain restaurants, this would not be my preference normally, but I received a gift card and used it for lunch. We were seated in the bar, which was quiet. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food quality was generally good for what it is. For folks watching their weight, there are some very good light options available. The apricot chicken was one I had. I won't be craving it, but it was good to have a healthy option.

I was craving chicken parmigana so I invited a friend to what I still consider a fairly new location. The food was fine, the service was fine. Why review a chain, why 2 stars if everything was fine? Because the fake wood grain was worn off the table. The benches in the booth were cracked and coming apart. Ick. Pass. Come on, Olive Garden just charged me $13 bucks for a piece of chicken with marinara on it. You have the bucks to fix the worn out decor. I'll opt for another location or restaurant next time.

I went to OG on my day off after shopping. I wanted a nice relaxing lunch. I sat at the bar and the bartender was tending to the two of us seated at the bar plus the patrons seated at the tables. I ordered my soup and it was excellent. While I was still on the soup the appetizer came. While I was on the appetizer the entree came. I wondered if the building was on fire because of the way I was being rushed! This was like eating on speed 78 RPM! What's worse is that when the entree came, the empty soup bowl and the empty appetizer dish were still in front of me, not to mention 2 dirty glasses near me on the bar. The bar was filthy and instead of a nice, relaxing lunch, they left me feeling agitated. No Italian eats like this! They think they are being efficient, and they ruin the whole dining experience. People like to have some space between courses. The same thing happens at Outback.

For a chain... We love this particular Olive Garden! We almost always have an outstanding server. The food is prompt and yummy. It is kid friendly and my kids actually eat! We have been going to this location for years and love it. There is a wait during peak hours.

There is almost no excuse, in a city like Albuquerque, to make a trip to a generic chain restaurant like this. And when I say generic chain, I mean it. My friend had a gift card to the place, and the food is passable, so what the heck, right? From the moment you walk in, you are presented with a zero-personality bland decor designated by Olive Garden Corporate. The bar doesn't even have a TV. Every single thing in the place screams "chain restaurant". Even McDonalds, also a chain, adapts a bit to fit to each city it is in. Olive Garden, however, DOES NOT CARRY GREEN CHILE, in a city which defines itself as the home of green chile lovers around the world! I tried to get it added to my fettucine, thinking it was a "given" that it would be available. This shows what an iron grip the OG franchise contract has on it's operations. There is no excuse for this. I was really bummed. The food here is nothing but standard fare. The green chile add-on was my only hope of upgrading it to special. I also had the dumpling soup, which was good enough, but PLAIN. The desire to create a universally acceptable food line prevents them from putting ANY character or uniqueness. Sure, it's all edible...the Alfredo was thick and the noodles cooked nicely, but when you are surrounded by blandness, eating food without a shred of personality, it's hard to recommend it at all. I don't necessarily have a problem with chains, some are quite good, but Olive Garden allows no variation from the contract menu to reflect the tastes of local markets - a horrible decision just to maintain consistency. Olive Garden is just plain boring in every aspect of it's existence.

So, you know what you're gonna get when you go to an Olive Garden. Overpriced, pseudo-Italian stuff served in an atmosphere carefully calibrated to maximize the chain's profit and minimize your discomfort. Once you can get seated, that is. After striking out at our first two restaurant choices last night (i.e. the restaurants were both CLOSED), we finally settled for the worst of all worlds and waited 45 minutes for Olive Garden food. Whatever. The food was fine. I almost gave them three stars for that, but I just couldn't muster it. They're just too fake and try too hard. Whatever. There they are. Feel free to stop in anytime you want exactly what you know Olive Garden's got.

  • Sam A.

The food is standard, the wine is standard, and the only real reason to go here is because their salad dressing is quite possibly the best in the state. You might have to wait in a line during the busy hours, but Olive Garden does it's best to hire hot waiters and waitresses, just out of high school from what I can imagine... There's no fatties on the wait staff, and they will go above and beyond to get a tip. A full bar and a bunch of close friends making veiled covert remarks... you've got a great dining experience.

The bartender was our waiter and he was very friendly. We ordered the soup and salad and it was perfect for a cold rainy day like today. YUMMY to the Zuppa!!!

Good food. Great service. Food is a little overpriced. I like the chicken Alfredo.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
