Finally a GREAT sushi bar. Don't miss this one. The best in Abq hands down. I haven't had better in the USA. Trust me fresh and amazing !!!!

Spending two months in Japan made you realizing that Albuquerque got no real choice for sushi since the closure of Noda.....until now. Nagomi is THE REAL DEAL. Chef worked 14 years at Japanese Kitchen and he is even better now. The fish are fresh and sushi rice is perfect. Cooking rice to its perfection is an art form by itself and very few in this town mastered this.

Go to place for handmade gyoza. Keep it up! I will never forgive you if you switch to frozen gyoza!!!

Not great. Not awful. The server did not know the answers to our basic menu questions and made no move to find out. We did not like the Miso soup. But the yaki soba was ok and the goyza was great! The atmosphere was very bland. The server rushed us through ordering then was very slow in serving us at other points. We will not return.

Fresh fish! Clean tasting with a hint of the sea. No need to disguise the taste with sauces here! The gyoza are the best around. Great sushi!

Excellent sushi. I'm very particular about the temperature of my fish and this was just right. I ordered the chirashi, which I haven't seen on a menu here in Albuquerque, but have had elsewhere. The chef chose a nice selection of sashimi (tuna, salmon, octopus, halibut, fake crab, shrimp), served on top of probably two cups of daikon threads. The second box had a lot of rice, eel and roe. I also ordered octopus and eel sushi and a seeweed-cucumber salad. Almost forgot the requisite cup of miso soup! Everything was fantastic.I definitely ate too much, but it was my anniversary and I don't get to have sushi very often. My husband had some sort of pork cutlet which looked fairly unremarkable and I think he was a little disappointed by it. He's not the most adventurous when it comes to foreign food and he didn't believe me that he should have tried something else, like the udon bowls (you know, the things people rave about here on Yelp!). Next time. I also ordered an expensive sake. I know the flavor of sake that I like, but I'm unfamiliar with the grading scale. The waiter let me try one and I didn't care for it, so I went to the middle of the flavor rating scale and was disappointed by how bland it was. I had nearly half a bottle left at the end of my meal and I asked the waiter if he could bag it for me. Do restaurants not do that in Albuquerque? I have yet to find one that will. Oh well, I stuck it in my purse on the way out. I'm not going to let an $18 sake go to waste. I can't wait to go back. I'll have to force myself to order off the menu, though, and not just sushi, otherwise I'll never know if the pictures of the dishes you kind Yelpers have posted taste as good as they look.

We usually go to Ichiban in Corrales, but now that we've moved to the NE heights we decided to try Nagomi. Last time we dined here it was Mr. Tokyo and they had a "build your own roll" which I liked because I'm not a fan of tuna scrape and it seems it's in almost every roll you order. We had a pretty simple order: Udon with seafood tempura, sake nigiri and maguro nigiri, pretty standard. It was fine, not excellent, the tuna was fresh but had a mushy appearance (makes sense since we are not on the coast) Salmon was fine. Tempura was tough, not light and the vegetables tasted old. Perhaps it was an off night (Saturday night) Probably would not return, they are missing the "boat" on ambience (no music, pretty dry) Too bad because this could be a really cool spot, just need to ramp it up a bit. I would return to a restaurant that was a hole in the wall if the food was super awesome!

Ok - so I think we've found a new sushi place. That said, the bowl of Ramon that we shared ahead of the sushi was the best part of the meal. Also to note, the pot stickers tasted very fresh (not frozen) and had a good solid pork filling flavor. The sushi was Pretty good too...although I'd prefer a crab salad inside rather than just a sick of imitation crab meat. The crab salad in the middle adds a nice sweeter mix to the savory bite etc. the fish itself on top of the sushi was fresh tasting and also delicious. We did try that raptor roll that everyone was all wet over And, we enjoyed it - it's pretty good...made me wet too. Can I say that? I'd definitely go back and explore more of the menu. I like this place - I'd even bet that they additional, more traditional Japanese menu items offered are excellent - and we'll definitely come back to see. :)

I'm no sushi expert, but Nagomi was purdy darn tasty! Every time I eat at Japanese restaurants, I totally wing it and order whatever the waiter says is their favorite. The plan worked perfectly! I had the Rapper sushi roll and miso soup was included as an appetizer. My two friends got veggie rolls with seaweed, and both were tasty, but not as tasty as mine. I love it when that happens muahaha. Together the soup+roll were just enough to fill me up but not feel like I was about to explode, and the total was about $9 including tax and tip. Not a bad deal. The restaurant itself doesn't look like much from outside, and is in a little strip center. Inside, they've got all the authentic Japanese decos and there were a couple of tables of people speaking Japanese when we arrived, which is always a good sign. If the "locals" eat there, it must be good! It's located on Menaul and Wyoming, so if you reside in the northeast heights and want to get your sushi on, come check this place out!

The rapper roll is awesome, and you can not come here and not try the Shabu! Definitely returning.

Having just returned from Kyoto, we were desperately missing Japanese cuisine. Kokoro has been our go to place but Naogomi may be our new favorite. We need to come back because all we could try was the Shabu Shabu (couldn't resist). We were stoked to even see this on the menu. It was great fun and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try something a million times better than the Melting Pot. Our only want was a better variety of vegetables (more mushrooms etc). We will be back!

Food: 5 Service: 5 Value: 4 After hearing about my previous experience at Nagomi, the wife wanted to have dinner there. We were first served some miso soup, and the contents were somewhat unexpected; typically, miso soup has miso, seaweed, and tofu, and ours had miso, onion, and cabbage. We spoke to Kelly (owner) who stated they mix things up a little bit with the miso soup. We first ordered the "Rapper" sushi roll and it was excellent. She stated that it was fresh, and the best sushi that she's had in Albuquerque. What should have been cold was cold, and what should have been warm was warm. We also ordered the chicken karaage. While I had no expectations on this appetizer, it was also delicious. It surpassed even some of the best karaage we've had in Los Angeles. In an effort to try everything, we also ordered the tonkatsu ramen again, and it once again did not disappoint. Without the ginger and the green onion, the bamboo on the side, and the thinner pieces of meat, I felt that the ramen was better today than the last visit. The broth was superb. Finally, I also ordered the chicken teriyaki set, which came with a seaweed salad (excellent), potato salad (good), rice (like my parents make), and chicken teriyaki (good). It was also delicious, but the value is a little off. We probably will skip out on this last set, and maybe replace it with something else next time. After the dining experience, my wife and I discussed the topic, and both agreed it was the most satisfying meal we've had in the few years we've lived here in Albuquerque, being foodie transplants from Los Angeles.

I've been dying to have some authentic Japanese food for a really long time. Unfortunately I missed the whole Kokoro train while it was around but I think I am going to be quite happy with this new establishment. I went to Nagomi last night with a friend and we shared 3 different things and I was super impressed by the quality. We started with the miso soup and it was the most creative miso I've ever had. It had all kinds of wonderful goodies inside of it. Besides the regular stuff it had onions and cabbage. It was very enjoyable! My friend has had hand made Udon noodles in Hawaii and was quite skeptical of these ones before we ordered. We both were delighted by the perfectly flavored slightly sweet broth and nicely textured noodles. Its impossible to eat that soup without that delightful slurp. Its quite fun! We also shared the Oyako Donburi, It was a simple dish but it was quite good. Next time I'll probably get something more adventurous. Our third choice was a sushi roll. You can't properly judge a Japanese Restaurant without trying the sushi. We had the Alaska roll. It was simple but perfection. Fresh salmon, avocado, and cucumber. Oooh that was a tasty treat. SO SO SO good! They have fancier rolls but seeing what the fish tastes like unencumbered by lots of sauces and theatrics was refreshing. Bomb sushi. The owners wife was our server and she was great with a little dash of sass. Her husband is from Japan (oh yes its authentic) At the end of our meal she gave us some coupons to come back and spread the word. I hope this little place does well because I'm gonna be having dreams of that Udon. You go Nagomi! I will be back to try your Curry, Shabu, Ramen, and the rest of your rolls.

Best Japanese restaurant in Albuquerque! This is absolutely the most authentic Japanese that I have had in ABQ. The sushi chef/owner, Masa, is as good as it gets! The staff is wonderful, customer service is 5 star. Food is 5 star! Must go here and fill up on the delicious sushi!!!!

I lived in Japan for 3 years. This place is as authentic as it gets in Albuquerque. The Tonkotsu ramen is the only one I've had in Albuquerque that actually tastes like tonkotsu ramen. The Shabu shabu is amazing! The staff is great as well! We come here often and the owners always bring us a little special item. We feel valued and love the food and environment!

Great traditional Japanese food as well as fresh sushi in a cool atmosphere. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including soba noodles, fried mackerel, curry, tofu, and sushi. Looks like they offer shabu-shabu as well. Service was attentive and unnecessarily apologetic, but I guess I'd rather they apologize needlessly than not apologize when necessary. We'll be back for sure!

I stopped in for a casual lunch at Nagomi & discovered sashimi that rivaled any I've had in either Japan or among the large Japanese community in Seattle. Very fresh & tasty! The rice under the fish was fresh & well packed, so it stood up to dipping with chopsticks. The green tea was also quite flavorful. Not weak or watered down, as I've experienced elsewhere. To start the meal there was a bowl of miso soup with kombu seaweed & julienned daikon radish in it. Very authentic from the perspective of my 14 year marriage to a Japanese lady. I ordered 18 pieces of various sashimi ala carte. The kinds I had were ika (squid), tako (octopus), ebi (shrimp), meguro (tuna), unagi or anago (eel), and salmon. Masa-san was also kind enough to deep fry the shrimp heads from the ebi sashimi shrimp for me. All pieces were excellently prepared. The plate also had a generous portion of wasabi and sliced ginger accompanying the sashimi. The dab of wasabi that was under the fish on some of the pieces was enough to give a nice kick without overwhelming the taste. Service was prompt & extremely attentive. Our waitress was friendly & professional. Bonus points for the fact she spoke Japanese as well as excellent English. The ambience is quiet & subdued. Conversation was easily conducted at normal speaking level. This would make a very nice spot for a date or quiet evening out. The only downside was at the cash register. This is very, very good sashimi in a non-seaport city (think transportation costs on extremely perishable product) & is priced accordingly. It averaged out to about $2.50 per piece. Simply getting a pre-made sashimi combo plate may have eased the price downward had I chosen to go that route, but I wanted to try a lot of variety & there is a bit of a premium to be paid to get it. While the total bill came in on the high side for a lunch, the sheer quality & authenticity of the food justified the price to me. I intend to return to try their tempura, which a Japanese lunch companion praised highly, and udon or soba noodles, as well as more of Masa-san's fine sushi.

Spectacular. Best Japanese food in Albuquerque. If you loved Nodas on the Westside and are missing it, try Nagomi! It is owned by part of the same family. The sushi is wonderful, but what makes this place standout is the food from the kitchen. If you love sushi and your dining companions do not, they will love the choices for them.

Just tried this place and decided to start with the sushi. I thought it was all excellent, but will be back to try the shabu shabu. They seem to have a decent sake selection and the plum wine was good. Interior decor is all new and very nice. Part of me misses Mr. Sushi that used to be in this location, but I'm glad that a great place moved in.

Ate here for my boyfriend's birthday. It was very good. They offer a wide variety of yummy things, but I recommend any of the specialty rolls and the plum wine :)

Excellent sushi here. The miso soup was very hearty. Red bean ice cream was fantastic. I highly recommend this establishment. Don't be fooled by the strip mall location. Inside is very nice. When in Albuquerque this is where we will go for Japanese food.

As someone who has lived in Japan, I have a taste for authentic Japanese food of the non-sushi variety. Nagomi fits the bill perfectly. Their chef's special bento boxes give wonderful variety, and their curry is delectable. They're also very family friendly, making us feel welcome with our very well behaved but messy one-year-old.

Fresh and tasty! Excellent service. Very friendly and attentive. Not fancy but clean with average prices. If you want great service and good sushi then you'll like Nagomi.

The food was really good. We got Udon and tried their green chile tempura sushi. What really made our day was the mini candy they gave us at the end!

I've only eaten here once, but from our sampling, I think this is the best all-around Japanese restaurant in town right now. The owner was a sushi chef at Japanese Kitchen for many years, so the sushi is fresh and delicious, plus they have all the other Japanese dishes that my family likes. In addition to sushi we had agedashi tofu, Aji fry dinner, tofu curry, niku udon. The broth that came with the agedashi tofu had great flavor. The niku udon was a bit sweet, but I liked it. The curry was milder than some (Japanese curry is never very spicy), but again had a good, complex flavor. We can't wait to back to try more dishes. We noticed after we ordered that they have shabu shabu! In addition to great food, they have a nice ambiance. I only wish they weren't so far up I the NE heights, (one of the reasons we hadn't been to Mr. Sushi which was the former occupant of the space in many years) but they're worth the drive. We've tried every new Japanese restaurant, looking for one to take the place of Kokoro which was our favorite. I think we may have found it.

Great quality fish. Excellent service. Very reasonable prices for generously sized rolls. Sake choices that you'd have to go to a big city for. I'll be back!
