I ordered the #4 combo, sweet and sour pork and beef chow mein. Overall pretty good food and the service was excellent. Portion sizes were great and we left very satisfied. The food seems a little on the greasy side, but very tasty. I'll probably try a different dish next time though. My only complaint was the small portion size on the sweet and sour pork, as there were only about four pieces. Other than that, great experience.

What a trip to old school Chinese restaurant ! I had not been here in many Chinese New Years. I try not to do buffets and prefer table service at local places. The menu is full of all the types of dishes we grew up with at New Chinatown (RIP) and many others. Our food was good reminding senses of old school dining. Our waiter was efficient not chit chatty. The owner checks on his patrons. Soooo I never see many cars in the lot and it's not busy with a line of those getting takeout like years ago. I think people have forgotten (lost interest?) about Ko Palace. I realize ABQ has 100s of newer dining spots garnering our attention. Ah soooo... Now the place: not changed in years, needs the carpets cleaned or removed, old artwork changed, and the wallpaper scraped off. This place could be so nouveau and happening. Wood floors and modern lighting/artwork. Music!Wow! The men's room needs attention. Get rid of the kitschy gift shop. Long enough post....see ya soon!

Great service and food is fantastic!!! We had king pao, lo mein, and cocked with snow peas. Every dish was very flavorful and used a ton of fresh veggies. Small delivery fee is absolutely worth the good food and quick delivery. A new favorite :)

Bad service and even worse food. Ordered seafood combo and beef fish. Seafood combo had barely any seafood and beef dish had beef and vegetables chopped so fine that I couldn't taste anything ( and I am Chinese). On top of that, bad oil smell and no waiters except owner and another gentleman with bad breath. Owner offered $6.95 off and it was too late to go anywhere else. Avoid this place and find better good and hopefully better service elsewhere.

The food was good, service was great, and the restaurant was spotless. You can tell that the owners have really taken care of there business. I will definitely be back.

I have this strange rule about restaurants, if they have a sign that outline illnesses you can get from food posted right behind the register I don't trust it. Although, I have somewhat hoped for a bout of food poisoning to boost my weight loss and get an afternoon off work I'm definitely not there yet. Not yet... Ko's thinks warning it's customers about all these lovely bacterial angry things is a great thing to do, especially when you open your take home box to strange brown colored rice, two different chicken orders which look ridiculously alike, and strange tasting cabbage stuffed in your egg rolls. Really, I couldn't help but wonder if my butt was going to explode for days, if I would vomit every color of the rainbow, if I would experience the ring of fire and lava, if I would have a fever so high I would hallucinate, or if I would get a mixture of all of the above. This is true customer service. Warn your patrons of all the possible things that could happen to you if you eat their food... The food was fine, perhaps I didn't give in to it like I should have because of the sign, but every dish looked alike, drowned in a brown or bright red sauce that it seriously confused me visually. Okay, I lied. The food was less than fine but better than bad. Ko's reminds me of a much more expensive version of HoHo's. Instead of getting my fill on $10 I got less than half my fill on $25(YIKES). So, at least the customer service is on POINT and I might now be the host of several bacterial and parasite infections. Only time will tell.

Should have looked at the reviews before I ordered, but definitely won't order from here again. The sweet & sour chicken was the only good thing I had .. Chicken wings were no flavor, rice had a really bad burnt taste to it & then to top it off the service was horrible!! I got delivery & the guy was rude .. He initially had to call me back after a few mins instead of just putting me on hold saying he was on the other line, then when he called back he just had one of those "I don't want to be bothered with" attitudes. When my food came they put no silverware in the back knowing they were coming to a hotel & clearly I wouldn't of had a fork to eat with if I didn't get a very nice hotel that had dishes here for me. I will never order from this place again & don't recommend it.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque. The food is always good and the service excellent. Always get the Won Ton soup while my wife loves the Hot and Sour. Can't beat the Sizzling Wor Bar and the Orange Beef is especially good. All that and a great value too!

I just couldn't get past the rude wait staff or how impatient they were with our group. We were the only customers, so being busy was not the issue. The menu is way over priced and our waitress kept trying to charge us add-ons for rice!!! She seemed as if we were bothering her, as soon as I got snippy right back at her she seemed to tone it down. The horrible service coupled with mediocre food made for an awful experience. I will never come back and I definitely will not recommend this place to anyone.

Another favorite neighborhood Chinese food restaurant which I adore and always enjoy on Friday or Sunday. I usually get the mu shu pork, veggie lo mein, and then mix it up. Last Friday, I had the seafood special and it was very good, although my definition of spicy didn't hit the spot. Orange chicken is always good, I'm thinking of trying the orange tofu this Friday. Great people who own this restaurant and will always go back.

Went there for the first time with high expectations. First of all, the place needs some remodeling, it looks like it hasnt been touched in 20+ yr. The front door was dirty, i didnt even want to see the bathrooms. The food - kind of yuck. The rice was ok, kind of blant. We ordered mushu chicken which to be honest was not bad. But then the vegetable tofu, a dessapointment. Lots of tofy with no taste, very few vegetables, i took a piece of baby corn and it tasted weird, like rotten, so i could not finish this entre. I ordered hot tea - it tasted old, like its been made a couple of days ago. Could not drink it so asked the server to give me a soda instead. The server was ok, not very happy i did not like the hot tea. It was overpriced for the quality of food. Unfortunatelly i will not come back.

The giant and I always get the sweet and pungent chicken. We've tried the lunch specials and other items, and nothing is quite as satisfying. The owner (reluctantly) made sweet and pungent tofu for us once, and we were disappointed. Stickin' with the chicken.

If it wasn't for the really really really good service, I would probably give them 2 stars. The owner of the restaurant was very friendly and chatty and I'm assuming he was really chatty because I happen to speak Cantonese. The man was so super nice and inviting. When the food came, we were incredibly disappointed. We ordered 3 dishes, each one was very mediocre. The presentation was dull, the taste was just ok, and it was incredibly overpriced. Even the rice was disappointing. The rice wasn't fluffy or delicious, it was mushy and unpleasant in my mouth. If I ever stopped by Albuquerque again, I would most probably never come back here for food. I may stop by to visit the nice man that works there.

I've had better, but it wasnt bad. I would go back, but I would order differently. The Egg Drop Soup was good, as were the pot stickers. However, I did not care for the Sesame Chicken, the sauce was good, but otherwise, it just didnt work for me. It was like a soggy, over breaded piece of too dry chicken. I however, cant remember what else we ordered. Therefor it obviously wasnt good enough to be memorable, but wasnt bad enough to remember that either. So.

Delicious Hong-Kong-style fare at Ko Palace is appreciated by American dignitaries visiting Albuquerque, and is extremely popular with local aficionados of Chinese cuisine. My husband and I drive down from Santa Fe every few months just to sample Raymond Ko's expertly-prepared offerings from his extensive menu, and to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and hospitality. I am especially fond of the Orange Tofu, which has been lightly sautéed in elegant cubes and dressed in a health-promoting orange sauce. Accompanying that fragrant dish with another one of beef and string beans, as well as a shared order of Mu Shu Pork pancakes made this evening's meal particularly satisfying. It was well-worth the pleasant, scenic drive (we travel through Cerrillos, Madrid and San Antonito on Hwy. 14, avoiding Interstate 25), and in its convenient location on Menaul Boulevard Northeast, there is plenty of parking for guests. Speaking of guests, Raymond Ko and his beautiful wife have hosted President and Barbara Bush, President Bill Clinton, Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, President George W. Bush, and very recently the current Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. The entry hall at Ko Palace is lined with photographs of these luminaries proudly standing with the owners. This traditional restaurant is decorated with Chinese paintings, and there are even some unique wood and glass carvings offered in the vitrines, as well as antique-styled bowls and pretty sets of chopsticks, all very reasonably-priced. I came away with a beautifully painted Lucky Cat bank made of porcelain, because my husband was in such a good mood after his delicious meal at Ko Palace of Albuquerque.

My girlfriend and I shared our first lunch here, and we continue to come whenever we're feeling it! The food is always good, and everyone that works there is real friendly. Definitely worth stopping by and getting your grub on!

I have traveled extensively for work for the last 30 years! Both coasts and everywhere in between. I first ate here a about 20 years ago. Every time I am in Albuquerque I make a point to stop and enjoy my favorite Chinese dish, Sweet and Pungent Chicken. Also, best hot and sour soup I have ever had. I have never found anything close anywhere else. Ray and the family still give amazing service. This is authentic, delicious Chinese at it's best. Fusion Chinese has it's place, but if you want authentic and the best on top of that, it isn't in New York or San Francisco, it is in Albuquerque, NM.

Totally mediocre. Too bad, because the place has some potential. I liked the atmosphere, my server was attentive and service was really fast, plus the lunch special is super cheap. But everyone there was kind of rude and the food was just kind of.. edible. The egg drop soup was bland but not bad, the fried rice was really bland and actually bad, the egg roll was completely shrug-worthy, and I had the sezchuan shrimp, which was actually not bad, but didn't make up for the fried rice. And the tea smelled kinda funny. Sorry guys.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
