One of the best vietnamese places in Albuquerque. Nice sized portions and everything was cooked the proper amount, they don't overcook shrimp.

First Vietnamese food I've tried in Albuquerque, and it's pretty decent. Their iced coffee is one of the best I've had-not too sweet or strong. I had the chicken pho for the meal, and I should have stuck with my usual tofu. The chicken looked ... odd. It was fatty, cut into weird "chunks," and it was super dark in some spots. BUT the flavor of the broth was amazing, and that's the most important part of the soup. I'll more than likely come back, even if it's just for coffee.

I got pho tofu with vegetables, it was alright. The noodles, veggies, and tofu were good, but the broth is probably the worst I've had. It didn't taste bad, but it barely had any flavor at all. ABQ has a ton of excellent Vietnamese food so I probably won't be returning to this place. Also, the map shows the wrong location - this isn't near Midtown/University at all, it's 15 minutes northeast of there.

Who knew you could find such good Vietnamese food in Albuquerque? I certainly had no clue, but thanks to other Yelpers, this came on our radar when we were looking for a lunch option outside of the New Mexican / Mexican / American categories. We came here for lunch. It's an unassuming spot in a strip mall, but people know it's there - it wasn't too busy, but it certainly wasn't desolate. I ordered the grilled pork over rice noodle cakes (just to try something new since I usually get vermicelli), and the bf ordered a beef noodle bowl. The consensus was that my dish was better than his, but overall, it was still really good. It certainly hit the spot. Portions are generous, and the prices are right. Would definitely come again if we're back in the Albuquerque area. Cilantro and basil is available upon request, so if you're fans of both like we are, make sure to ask for those!

This is kind of embarrassing. My husband and I moved to Albuquerque about six months ago and have been coming to Huong Thao pretty much every week since we moved here. We go so often that the servers pretty much have our orders memorized. Our typical order is spring rolls with pork and shrimp, a grilled beef with rice noodle cake, a pho with no meat and an avocado shake for the husband. I lived in LA and DC before moving to Albuquerque, so I have had my fair share of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Huong Thao delivers! My only complaint is that I am not a huge fan of the beef that is served with the pho, which is why I order it with no meat. The broth and noodles are so tasty that I don't miss the meat.

Great for take out or dine in. Friendly staff. Banh mi, Papaya salad, noodle bowl with pork & mung bean crepes among favorites.

Our favorite restaurant to dine as a family! It's not super fancy but it is still somewhere we go for birthdays or even just to catch up, and we travel ALL the way from the Nob Hill area to get here. Lol! You must try the combination 'wrappers' ( it's a communal make your own spring roll experience), 'combination' crispy noodles ( I am sure it's high in calories but it's big enough to share), the pho ( good for a cold and the soul) and anything with lemon grass!!!! I attempt to try something new every time I go but always gravitate towards these things. Next time I go I will post photos.

Delicious pho. The whole family had pho, my husband and I with rare beef, and the kids with meatballs. I give it five stars because it was fantastic, but I've had equally good elsewhere. However, I have nothing whatsoever to complain about. What was great, too, was the heaping plate of Thai basil and bean sprouts. And lots of lime and hot jalapenos. We were trying to go to Vietnam 2000 on Juan Tabo because we were up in that part of town, but it was closed (Sunday). So, we drove a little further south down Juan Tabo and came across this place, which was open. Really, very good and I'll go back if I'm in that area again.

I'm from San Diego and we have a good amount of Asian/Vietnamese food, this place is hella bomb! I had the Banh hoai with grilled meat and shrimp. Everything was flavored deliciously, fresh and just plain tasty. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area again, totally recommend!

Tried this place this weekend, while finding out that our other favorite spot was closed! Based on the other reviews, we thought it sounded pretty good. Service was a little slow, but server was friendly and food was good. I've had Pho at many places, and most of the time it tastes the same. This place was no exception. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls, and the rate steak Pho and both were very tasty. Nothing outstanding, but I'd come back for my Pho fix!

Delicious Pho--everything I have tried here has been outstanding and you can taste the quality of ingredients compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. My kid loves their fried rice with just veggies and the service has always been friendly. Coming here for lunch or dinner fits our budget too!

We ate here because my wife is gluten intolerant and they have a great gluten-free menu. Nice workers, too

I am from ABQ but live in San Francisco. This is one of the few vietnamese places in abq i haven't been to. Came here on Christmas eve and it was awesome! I didn't try their pho but the everything they had was fantastic and the prices were very very reasonable. The waitress we had was awesome. New Mexico Spring Rolls: I love spring rolls. I love green chile. I love avocados. But i was very doubtful of combining them. First of all... one order is HUGE. Secondly it was very tasty. I would absolutely get it again. I tried the lemon grass shrimp, spicy lemongrass soup, the lemongrass chicken, the vietnamese crepe, and the sandwiches. All were very good and large portions... but mostly very very good. I'll be back for sure!

I decided to try the Hung Thao restaurant for quick lunch this afternoon. The restaurant is located right next to a super cuts in a neon-green trimmed shopping center. I found the service to be good, and the food to be about the middle of the road. I had the chicken noodle bowl with some red chili paste on top. I found the noodles to be a bit greasy and the chicken to be a bit chewy. After trying the meats I think the quality, size and food portions you get at Huong Thao are good, but the food you get at nearby rival Pho #1 on Central and San Pedro is better.

A healthy and inexpensive place for a light dinner. The waitress is totally polite and even encourages my mangling of her language. some of my favorite things: Spring Rolls (both fresh and fried) Grilled pork with steamed rice noodle patties Gotta say the peanut sauce isn't amazing but I'm not sure if anyone else does it any better in ABQ. A little detail I can't seem to sink into my head - they are closed on Mondays.
