I should have known better when I only saw one person eating here during the lunch hour. I ordered chicken fried rice which was tasteless and even worst, they only used the throw away chicken parts from chicken legs. Gristle, fat and nerves was all the meat that I could find. My husband ordered chicken Mu Shoo. They did not include the Mu shoo wraps. Same chicken was in his meal and it was also completely tasteless. My husband ALWAYS eats his food but he had to throw this away. Needless to say, I will never return to this restaurant.

Heaven Dragon is a very difficult place to rate. Their food is all over the place in terms of quality, and you could have a two-star experience or a four-star experience, depending entirely on what you happened to order. That being said, I've never had any complaints with the service, the cleanliness, or how the kitchen handles orders. The portions are big, the prices are fair, and the interior is cute, quiet, and comfortable. Big menu, with options for sushi, delivery, and all the standard dishes. For me, that takes them solidly out of one-star territory. Let's start with the bad first. Heaven Dragon is at its iffiest when it comes to dishes that feature breaded, fried chicken in a sauce. This includes a number of classics like General Tso's, Sweet and Sour, Lemon chicken, Orange chicken, etc. The actual meat in these dishes tends to be a little knobbly, the breading a little thick, and sometimes the pieces are chewy. But some times are worse than others. The sauces are also hit or miss. The sweet and sour is excellent, the orange is okay, and the General Tso's is unidentifiable in its blandness. Sometimes it's cold and thick, sometimes it's hot, fresh, and thin. That inconsistency is a shame, since most people associate Chinese with breaded meats doused in sauce. Now, the good. Heaven Dragon rocks in the appetizer department. The Crab Rangoon are among the best I've had. Huge, creamy, and actually crab-filled. The Egg Rolls are above board. The Pork and Custard Buns are tasty, slightly off-beat options. The soups are decent. And the entrees are better when you avoid the dreaded breaded. The Hunan Shrimp was delicious, with perfectly cooked veggies, meaty shrimp, and a yummy sauce. Get yourself a stir-fry of some sort and you'll be fine. The standard accompaniment of pork fried rice goes well with most meals, and nicely flavored and fresh. Of course, if you order chicken fried rice, they'll make it to order. Given its great value and decent quality, I am willing to roll the dice on Heaven Dragon. I think avoiding the fried meat entrees is the key, and the appetizers are definitely worth it. It's worth a shot for a quick lunch if you're in the area.

Oh my God! This is the worst Chinese restaurant my wife and I have ever been to and we've been married almost 40 years. We went there for lunch because we had a two for one coupon. I ordered the beef and onion entree and chose the hot and sour soup. The lunch included fried rice, fried wontons and an egg role. When the waiter brought the soup, he also brought the wontons and the egg role on a little plate. He put the plate on top of the soup so that its bottom was covered with soup and when separated and placed on the table left a mess on the table. The soup was very thick and almost inedible. The wontons were stale and the egg roll was overdone. The main course was tasteless. The meat was mushy and the sauce was, like the soup, very thick. We took the rice home to feed to the birds. The service was great. Sodas were kept full and the waiter was very friendly. We have found the best place for Chinese is the Bamboo House on Juan Tabo in Albuquerque.

Had two orders of lemon chicken placed for delivery on a Saturday night. I was told 30-45 minutes, and was nearly two hours before I got the delivery. I called to ask about it, and was told that the driver took several orders. No discount or refund was offered, although the food was no longer hot by the time it was delivered. I will not be ordering from here again.

First, I should say something positive. Our male server was only on his 2nd day working there and tried very hard to please us. Second, their prices for their lunch specials are only $5.55 and come with an egg roll [well, cabbage roll since that's ALL there is in it] and a bowl of soup. Super cheap and the place is clean. Now, that said, blah, yucky, ick! We just left there. We waited 48 minutes for tasteless rice, terrible orange chicken and a noodle free chicken chow mein! Isn't there supposed to be noodles in chow mein? Service overall by staff was terrible as well. Nobody smiled. Not even a thank you, [or eye contact for that matter] was afforded us at checkout. We were also forced to take our entrees to-go right from the kitchen because they took too long and we were full by them. Never again. This place has gone straight down hill. It's like eating at a bad mall food court chain restaurant serviced only by teenagers. Bummer, there was a time we enjoyed this restaurant.

I almost gave them 1 star, but I gave Ho Ho's one star and this restaurant, while I didn't like it, doesn't deserve to be put in the same class. It's pretty much your standard, gross, Americanized Chinese food. My brother and sister-in-law like this place and treated me to some take out that they phoned in. Prompt delivery, guy seemed nice enough. The orange chicken was passable, barely. The rice was not cooked well, though. I had a beef stir fry. The beef was soggy. Gross, not the way I like it at all. The whole thing had kind of a runny sauce that did not taste very good. I didn't feel sick after at all, unlike Ho Ho's, so I can at least say that this place isn't physically bad for you. However, I didn't really like anything I had so I can't recommend it. The orange chicken was passable, it it's the reason they got a 2. Also, the crab rangoons taste rather fishy, so I would avoid them.

Could quite possibly be the worst Chinese food I have eaten. Have driven by this place many times and decided to swing by today for carryout lunch. Ordered the Pork egg foo yung lunch special. Entree was way overcooked and swimming in grease. Side gravy was burnt. Fried rice and egg drop soup were pretty much tasteless. Ate 1/3 of my meal and ditched the rest. I believe my meal was prepared by a very inexperienced high school kid that would be better suited for work at Sonic. Very disappointed. Won't go back.

Lower ranking due to poorer service. Food takes longer and usually comes all at once, i.e., appetizers, soup, main course. My wife and I like American Chinese food. This being our first time at Heaven Dragon, we ordered old favorites: Sue: Snow Peas and Chicken; me: Happy family. Appetizers: Egg Roll -- Good with cooked but not soggy cabbage. Sue (who does not like fish) loved her crab rangoon. The egg drop soup was a tad bland. Hot tea was Oolong -- mild and hot. Snow peas and chicken was very good; they are generous with the snow peas (her favorite). Happy Family was very good also. The beef was easily cut with a fork, not at all chewy. The brown sauce was just right, I do not like spicy brown sauce, this was fine. The steamed rice was excellent -- what we call "sushi rice" -- with good body to it. They offer desserts, but we were too stuffed. We also carried enough away for another 1 1/2 meals for each. We will definitely return!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
