If you must eat here, go on Saturday for the Southwest Eggs Benedict (SWEB). This is the only thing on the menu worth ordering. The wife and I went on a weekday without knowing the SWEB was a weekend special. We found this out after our coffee arrived, so we paid for the coffee and went somewhere else for breakfast. I've only ordered one other thing at this place, the totally forgettable breakfast burrito. There are many, MANY more places in ABQ that serve a better breakfast burrito. The service is hit or miss, but mostly a miss. Poor timing in general, and nearly impossible to get a regular cup of coffee refilled. Not to mention getting someone to greet you once you sit down at a table. We will return for the SWEB, but ONLY for the SWEB.

Has anyone checked the"filtered" reviews. This place is GREAT!!!! Always has great dessert options and awesome specials. Come in frequently and will continue.

Green chile potatoes are a must, totally worth the carbs and calories.

Went back... the breakfast burrito had maybe a 1/4 piece of bacon wrapped inside. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he argued with me. Ok... say good bye to my business.

While their prices a little up there - their food, coffee and service total justify it. Can you say SouthWest Eggs Benedict? On their green chile biscuits, chipotle mayonnaise, applewood smoked (and almost candied) bacon - a delight! Their coffee makes it a challenge to drink less than three cups and their pastries are truly artisan.

I've had great service here for a coffee/ bar restaurant. It's exactly that too. If you want to go somewhere and get Delicious! fine dining style food with out the in your face service it's a go. The food, the food, the food, is sooo tasty! Fresh soups daily and killer coffee. Oh, and did I mention desserts???? I dream about those scones. One of my Must places to visit when I go back home.

The food and prices deserve five stars. The service deserves only one or two. They're friendly, but slow. While driving cross country back to LA we stopped here for breakfast. We ordered hot chocolate and an oreo latte to start with, and both came out cold. Not luke warm, but cold. We sent them back thinking they could just microwave them, but instead they remade them completely. They get points for that one. My boyfriend got the blueberry pancakes, which he loved but it seems that they too were left on the heat a little too long, and then took a little longer to get from the kitchen to the table. They were fairly busy, but not bad enough for this mistake to happen twice. I had a waffle with cinnamon apples. It was amazingly good. The apples were perfectly flavored and went with the waffle so well. Lastly, their menu offered so many amazing options. They put a good spin on typical breakfast food and make it very well. We will be coming back on our next cross country adventure!

Slow service, we only wanted tea but they made us sit, apparently there's no ordering counter. For 2 teas it took about 20 minutes for them to serve and give us change. They do have a nice patio and the breakfast menu looked good. It's about the only thing in this area open on weekends!

I sat with my wife for 15 minutes before even being acknowledged and asked for our drink order. The drinks never came as we waited another 10 minutes before deciding to leave. The whole time we waited, the pretty waitresses (their hiring policy is obviously chauvinistically slanted towards women) were flitting around talking to each other and checking themselves out instead of waiting on our table or the other tables around us. 25 minutes wasted on self-absorbed, although pretty, waitresses that can't do their jobs.

Great looking food, but average tasting. I read the previous reviews, and noticed that the waitstaff and management were very friendly and courteous - so they're working out those problems. I tried the breakfast burrito, it was a bit gringofied for my taste. But I'm really curious about that eggs Benedict and chile rubbed bacon now... Perhaps one more try soon.

Overall I was pretty happy with our experience at Gold Street Caffe. The atmosphere is very nice. It's well decorated, clean, quiet, and could be a romantic little getaway. The menu is very concise and well thought out. My wife got the tortilla soup and the chicken quesadilla, which I helped her finish. She really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed what little of hers I had. I got the red chile dusted calamari with jalapeno tartar sauce. I was a little disappointed with mine. The tartar sauce was really good, but the calamari left a bit to be desired. It was cooked very well, light breaded and not too chewy. The red chile was good, but unfortunately that was the only taste that prevailed. On the front end, it just tasted like bland breading and calamari. Then the back end red chile kicked in. I had to keep eating it to figure out what wasn't quite right. I think some well thought out seasoning changes could have made it perfect. Regardless, the service was great and we had a good time.

Went here for dinner in March 2007. Was in town for a conference. Just sort of strolling the evening downtown scene, I stumbled upon this place and was quite impressed. Surprising good calamari appetizer. (in a land-locked state, no less!) Had a friendly and calm atmosphere. Definitely more designed as a coffee house, rather than for formal dining, but I'd go back for another meal. I remember the service being good.

I love this place. Best BLT in town, and everything else on their menu impresses me. Not just good, but actually leaves an impression. The service, well, it's something that I've grown to love about the place. It's charming, even in it's weak areas. And the fresh raspberry and white chocolate scones are THE best companion for a rail runner ride to Santa Fe.

Awesome southwest eggs bennies! Nicole's steak hash was good too with a side of red.

Best breakfast place in town. Interesting menu choices and fresh food. Sirloin hash is awesome Nice for lunch and dinner too. Great salads. Only complaint is it's small and service can be spotty.

Stopped by one morning while in town for a conference. Nobody seated me until I approached the register, and then it took a whole before the waitress took my order. I had the short stack of pancakes and a coffee. Both were decent, but nothing to get too excited about.

I have lived in ABQ for about a year now and just found this place few days ago. How sad! This place is awesome! The place feels warm and welcoming. The staff is extremely friendly. The food is awesome. I have tried the breakfast burrito and omelette. Both tasted amazing. The entrees are good portion and look great. Would highly recommend this place!

Please don't go here. Really. This place was beyond uninspiring. As out of towners, we wandered into this place thinking that it would be alright; however, we found it like other reviewers: good idea, poorly, poorly executed. My wife and I tried to have a coffee and hot chocolate here. My cappuccino was so poorly executed that I wanted to recommend that the waitress please stay with waitressing and leave the espresso machine alone! My wife's hot chocolate was so full that she had to drink it with a spoon. I was disappointed in this place,as I wanted to like it; but, I found out the hard way that it is not a joint to go and have a good coffee. Definitely go somewhere else first and don't waste your time or money here.

Food was really good especially the scone but the service was the worst I've had in a long time. Slow inconsiderate and incorrect orders. The waitress at the table next to us sounded much better. She was the only one to say thanks for coming as we left. Wish we could have left a tip for her as the only pleasant staff in the establishment.

We keep coming back for breakfast. Service is usually fast and friendly. I love the omelet smothered in red chili and cheese. My wife likes the hash or eggs and bacon. We've been here dozens of times and never had an experience like the 1-star horror stories.

NEVER. EAT. HERE. Every Sunday me and all of my favorite dining mates have brunch, just like the majority of people alive. This week we decided on Gold Street Caffe. It's a cute nice little restaurant downtown that is known for it's well prepared innovative food. The waitstaff is not the greatest in the city, but they are friendly, so you grow to love them.... I could go on to describe our entire dining experience, but I would rather just get to the point.... THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! I did some work for a local business and in return I received three $20 certs for Gold Street Caffe... and on these certs it absolutely does not say anything about how many I can use at one time. GREAT! Let's buy my friends brunch! The waitress took the as we ordered and we were under the impression that everything was fine. Towards the end of our meal she came up to us and said that the certs covered the meal completely. Fantastic! Until the she came back later and told us that her manager will only accept one. Hmmmm.... strange. We asked to speak to the manager, but the waitress informed us that he was too busy to deal with customers..... excuse me, but what kind of manager doesn't have time to deal with unsatisfied customers?? We decided to just pay the damn bill and come back to sort it out later. Just then, a man named Steve approached our table and told us he was the "manager". As we sparked up a conversation about our certs, he decided that we were freeloading ass holes just looking for a free meal. His started yelling at us... and I don't mean he just got snippy, he raised his voice to the point that it was echoing through the restaurant. The entire restaurant was looking at us... it was humiliating. He kept asking us if we enjoyed our meal.... actually no we did not! Everyones eggs were over/under cooked, the green chile wasn't properly peeled, the sauces were over seasoned, the red chile was too thick,a dn the list goes on and on. If we didn't get our meal for free because we had the certs, we should have because of the way the "manager" acted. I have never in my life felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant. That man needs to go back to into that kitchen and contunue making sub-par food and NEVER talk to another human being again. If you are reading this review, please, never eat here. People who treat their customers that way don't deserve to have customers.

Wow! Some folks have really had a bad experience at this coffee house. I guess we were lucky. My wife and I had breakfast here and drove out of our way to eat here due to a review in a travel guide. I always order decaf and there is some GOOD decaf around but the decaf here was only "OK". I got the Cowboy breakfast as described in one of the other reviews. The biscuit was unusual and very tasty. My wife got the "Power of three", she enjoyed the bacon, eggs and toast. The menu selection is pretty limited for breakfast. I would eat here again hoping NOT to have an experience like the other reviewers. I would try somewhere else for decaf if I was just looking for a cup of coffee.

Downtown Albuquerque the day before Christmas eve is not a happening place to be. Nevermind that the area (apparently re-titled "EDo" for "East of Downtown" by the Albuquerque Downtown Action Team) is relatively traffic and people free outside of Monday to Friday business hours and late nights at bars, we found ourselves driving around looking for an appropriate brunch locale Sunday morning, our first choice being closed. Don't let the empty streets discourage you, however. Once we walked inside, the Gold Street Caffe was a pretty happening place - the restaurant was mostly full, and we were seated right away but closer to the back. The interior is closer in look and feel to the Flying Star than the Frontier, and the menu is a simple two-sided affair. They had actually made an attempt to make their espresso drinks sound delicious (as opposed to letting me guess how good my latte is giong to turn out, chances are if I'm at a generic cafe and things are listed caffe mocha, latte, etc then it won't turn out that well). I ordered a caramel latte ($3.50), which turned out deliciously, if a little foamy at the top. The menu at Gold Street offers your typical breakfast offerings - pancakes, waffles, eggs - as well as typical New Mexican offerings - breakfast burrito and huevos rancheros. I decided on a combination of both those things - the Cowboy Breakfast, which was a green chile biscuit topped with scrambled eggs, proscuitto, and cheese. It came with a generous side of fruit (melon, pinapple, apple, and grapes) and a side of salsa, all for $7.45. My dining companion stuck with what can only be considered his usual - the huevos rancheros, which I think was the same price. He was pleasantly surpised, it seemed, calling the red and green chile "where it's at," and sounding satisfied with the dish overall. The Gold Street Caffe was a great place to fuel up for last minute holiday shopping, both due to the food and the fact that they allowed us to linger for likely longer than normal (apparently cowboy breakfasts and chile are great food for thesis discussions). Plan to stop by one day before shopping in the area (see my other reviews for shopping recommendations), catching a movie, or if you've managed to find yourself still out from the night before.

Among the meager options in the greater downtown area of Albuquerque, Gold Street Caffe is more than serviceable. A menu with the standard lunch fare of sandwiches and salads this one is good enough to work into your workday lunch rotation. This was my first meal ever in Albuquerque, luckily I had better in the months to come.

Really great- we came here twice in 2 days for breakfast when we were visiting from Chicago. Friendly waitresses and a cute place to sit and people watch. Both times my girlfriend and I ate the same thing- the huevos rancheros and the cowboy breakfast. They were so good we weren't willing to branch out. If we come back to ABQ we'll definitely stop by again.

I'm giving this place 4 stars because, aside from the prices, it deserves it. Nice ambiance, good downtown location, and gourmet food. This fits into the surprisingly significant and growing category of favorite Albuquerque cafes for the White, liberal, monied set (which I am not a part of), and the prices reflect that. I mean 7 bucks for one waffle (Just a plain waffle with butter and maple syrup)!? Although it was light, fluffy, and came with real maple syrup, it was only the size of a small dinner plate, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over the age of 8. I had some special 'southwestern' style eggs benedict on brioche style toast. It was great; it came with poached eggs, some great sweet, cinnamony bacon, and a jalapeno hollandaise sauce. However, the $12 price tag was a stretch to the logical. The $3 soy milk chai was also very good. All in all, if your wallet is big and your appetite is small, this is a great splurge spot.

The food on other diners' plates looked so good as we walked into the Gold Street Cafe. Lots of shiny greens. I had high expectations. Unfortunately, we left disappointed by the quality of the food and the arrogance of the management. Asking for non-spicy items didn't prevent us from being served a soup that was too spicy to go for a second spoonful. The breaded and fried fish was too salty to go for a third forkful. The waiter's explanation that the salt was not coming from the breading but instead was being drawn out of the fish itself was flakier than the fish ought to have been. I don't like sending food back to the kitchen, nor do I like leaving a restaurant hungry because the meager, unexciting dish they substituted failed to satisfyingly feed. We wish we had given one of Albuquerque's higher Yelp-rated restaurants a try during our brief stay in town. p.s. it's not really a cafe - it's a restaurant.

Of all the food places I miss most in Albuquerque, Gold Street Cafe is the place I miss most. Red chili glazed bacon, green chili biscuits, need I say more? I really can't say enough wonderful things about the food here. I've tried nearly everything on the menu, and its all good. The service is friendly and fast.

Southwest egg bennie for the best brunch EVER. Currently in a food coma from this delicious spin on eggs Benedict. It's on this delicious green chili bread biscuit which is so good. Brunch is best, fast service and a great downtown location. It is on the pricey side but definitely worth your buck.

We decided to explore for a new place today opposed to going to our usual places. Immediately, and I mean before we could even get through the front door, we started getting excellent service. The staff offered to open the door and was very attentive/friendly the entire time. Now the coffee. Can't be. A good coffee shop without good coffee and man does this place deliver. The cafe au lauit was amazing! Probably the best brew I've ever had. This doesn't compare to the food though. I had the "cowboy" and it was great! Excellently cooked egg with a creamy cheese, smokey ham on a savory biscuit/scone. Tried the waffles too and they were excellent! Overall, I highly suggest this cafe! Probably one of my favorites and I am certain to come back! Exploring is fun!

My boyfriend is REALLY picky about chocolate chip pancakes, which is strange to me, none the less he LOVED the chocolate chip pancakes here. I also LOVE the rasberry scone and the eggs benny. Thanks for being a great brunch spot :)

Decided to give them one more try. Food quality was good things came out quickly and hit which was not the case before. Service was adequate took a long time to get refills and they weren't busy when we arrived.

Yay! I'm a fan. ^Good word choice, Yelp :) Yes, this place is really tasty. Could it be better? Well, couldn't we all? My sister and I enjoyed their eggs benedict, and it was as great as everyone raved about. The biscuit was tasty, and the sauce just perfect. We also checked in and got a free scone! It went perfectly with out espresso after the meal. Worth a try!

Wanted a place close by the Andaluz to eat a nourishing, healthy breakfast and while looking through the Albuquerque Free Press newspaper, saw a blurb about the Gold Street Caffe. It is also conveniently located two blocks away and very near the Transit Station and Rail Runner. I called them up that night and to my surprise, someone answered the phone after they closed for the day. A movie was filming inside the Caffe that night! I got directions and ventured out very early on a Saturday morning. As the very first customer of the day, I just chilled out on the couch seating in the front and let them finish setting up. Soon enough, I was sipping some good, strong coffee and the haze in my brain was soon clearing to a mild fog. I had read about how the Gold Street Caffe teams up with local farms like the Agri-Cultura Network to bring fresh ingredients and locally-sourced produce to use in their kitchen. I liked that immediately. Sure enough, their Cowboy Breakfast was delicious and filling. The herb potatoes were spectacular. And this being New Mexico, I enjoyed a green chili-infused biscuit that had just the right amount of spice. 20 years in business for the Gold Street Caffe means they are doing something right. 5 YELP STARS for culinary awesomeness!

I've lived in Albuquerque my entire life and I'd never been to Gold Street Caffe before yesterday. It was so delicious!! I will definitely be back. It was really busy when we got there about 11:30am on Sunday morning but we were seated within 5 minutes of walking in the door. I will say that they don't have any kind of noise control. It was almost unbearably loud from all the people in there. However they sat us toward the back and that was slightly less noisy. The service was ok, I wasn't super impressed when most of the wait staff seemed to want to talk to each other instead of their tables. When our waiter was paying attention to us he was knowledgeable and attentive. My boyfriend got a cup of coffee and it was super delicious coffee, rich and flavorful. I ordered Chicken and Waffles with a side of fruit off the special board and my boyfriend got chicken fried steak with an egg, herb potatoes, and a green chile cheddar biscuit. When the food came it looked good and tasted even better. My chicken and waffles was the perfect blending of sweet and savory. The breading on the chicken wasn't to heavy and it was tasty and went perfectly with waffle with butter and syrup. The side of fruit was fresh and cool. I didn't try the chicken fried steak but my boyfriend said it had great flavor, it was cooked correctly, and the breading wasn't overwhelming. I did try the herb potatoes and the green chile cheddar biscuit and both were very tasty. We left full and happy and will definitely be back for the yummy food!

We've been to Gold Street a few times and our recent visit was as good as it gets. We were quickly greeted and sat in our preferred table. The waiter quickly greeted us as well and started us off with drinks. The special that day was Chicken and Waffles; call me a sucker but I was IN. It was a bit nontraditional but it was really really good and i would pick it again if it was available. My husband also enjoyed his chicken fried steak and the killer green chile biscuit. We will be back. If you check in on Yelp, look forward to an amazing scone!!

An overpriced, less glorified, Grove Cafe. It screams mediocrity. Service to food. The only real positive was the yelp check in. Free scone. Not sure if it was good because it was good, or good because it was free.

Use to love this place but today when we tried it and the place seemed like they weren't prepared to be open - ie. only one server so service lacked although he did his best, counter had no yummy pastries like they use to and no one was behind the counter helping out ... A very weird vibe.

Our last day in ABQ and we were looking for a local place to eat after some poor "vacation food" choices. We found Gold Street on Yelp! and checked it out on a Sunday morning. The place wasn't too busy yet, so we were a little weary when we walked in with our two kids and had to stand there for a good 3-4 minutes before being acknowledged. Eventually, we were sat at a table. The waitress brought us exactly the things we requested (separate cups of ice and juice, salsa, etc.) but overall, the service was pretty slow. As we ate, the place became a little more busy, which I think slowed down the service some more. Other than that - the food was delicious. We had the breakfast burritos, the chocolate chip pancakes, an omelette and a blueberry scone. The food was a nice portion size and I suppose about right for the price (for a smaller breakfast joint). We were a little shocked at the price of the juice ($5), but our fault for not reading the price on the menu before ordering. Great food, but with the service, I'd only give this place about 3.5 stars. Up in the air as to whether we'd try it again or not.

I enjoyed my first visit here. I ordered the Albuquerque Turkey. My wife and son had the Southwest Benedict. We also had a blueberry scone free for checking in on Yelp. All the food was very good but the green chile biscuit was great. A little pricey is my only complaint but really what isn't expensive nowadays. I would actually give it 3.5 stars if It were possible. I was prepared for poor service based on other Yelps about this place. Our server Mark was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant was half full so maybe we were lucky. I will return based on this experience.

Gold Street Caffe is pretty good. I tend to go here for their for coffee, which is quite good, or for a salad at lunchtime. Check out their Burque Girl Salad or their Sunburst Chicken Salad. One morning, I came here specifically to check out their Granola & Yogurt for my Granola Fruit Yogurt list here on Yelp. They describe it as a Large Bowl of Gold Street's house-made granola, yogurt and seasonal fruit. It's $7.95. The serving is definitely generous and comes with fat-free, plain Yoplait yogurt, freshly cut fruit and a tasty granola. I'll definitely come back here and have it again. It's one of my favorites.

I was really excited to come here because I heard great things about it for brunch/lunch. However, I have to say I was disappointed. We sat at an outside table and, due to the close proximity to the downtown bus station, there were loud buses rolling by every ~5 minutes, frequently interrupting conversation. The hostess did not tell the server we were there, so we waited longer than we should have for him to notice us. However, when he did, he apologized immediately and was very polite and prompt with our order. As for the food: I had the BLT Chicken Tacos. Sounded amazing!...but was a let down. I was really pumped for the bacon (as always!), but I only had one bite that even resembled the slightest flavor of mediocre bacon. Therefore, it was not what I was expecting. I also found myself putting salt on my tacos, which is rare at restaurants. I guess it was just missing something (in addition to the bacon). My boyfriend said his cream of chicken soup was yummy, but that his Albuquerque Turkey didn't taste great and fell apart in his hands. He claims "there was no love put into that sandwich." Alas, I might return to try out the brunch, but it likely won't be my first choice. If you're coming here, sit inside and avoid the bus traffic (inside looks lovely!).

Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots in ABQ. I love the location. I also loved the pancakes, Southwest Eggs Benedict, and Eggs Eleganza with Salmon. Shit, even the oatmeal tastes better here for some reason. If you can get there before say 7AM, you are garunteed a seat somewhere in the establishment. If not, be prepared to wait. Regardless, I have always had a good experience with their overall service. The exception would be the ONE time they under cooked my pancakes. I sent them back (which is something I hate to do, but they really sucked) and they remade them perfectly the second time. Overall; a great place for breakfast whether by yourself, with friends, or family. Several steps above the usual IHOP fare.

Boy have they gone down the tubes. Food tasted old, stale and flavorless. Coffee tasted like dishwater mixed with Sanka. Decor was shoddy, prices were ridiculous. Yuck.

This little gem is in the perfect location and there food is amazing. I got the South West eggs Benadict and they were delish!! Raspberry scone is a must with a chocolate latte! Definitely going back. You do have to pay for parking keep that in mind.

I had breakfast here twice while in Albuquerque last week and it was great! I had the breakfast burrito (a steal at $7!) with green chili one day and the cowboy breakfast (subbed avocado for ham, for a $1 upcharge) the other. Both were really delicious. The potatoes are really amazing and I highly recommend them. The green chili cheese biscuit that came with the cowboy breakfast was also awesome. The first time, it was less busy and the service wasn't as good, I actually had to refill my water glass from my water bottle in my purse. The second time it was much busier and our waitress kept apologizing for the kitchen delays, but it really wasn't much of a delay and the staff was much more attentive that day. I would have eaten here every day, but my friend wanted to try some other places!

My husband and I stopped by for lunch after a delayed flight brought us into Albuquerque later than expected. What a great start to our trip! My husband tried the huevos rancheros and declared them to be the best he had ever tasted! I enjoyed the fish tacos with fresh avocados. Our server suggested that we take some scones for breakfast, and I suggest you do the same! They were delicious! Everyone was friendly, the restaurant was attractive and comfortable, and the food was wonderful. We stopped back by later in the week for take out, and were equally impressed. It's a great spot for locals and visitors alike.

I feel like there is not much pride taken in this place. The floors were dirty. The food was mediocre. Service less than mediocre. The Dixie Chicks played during the entire visit. To top it all off, a tiny roach was perched on the railing we were seated next to and there were mysterious floaters in the water. I will not be returning.

The Southwest Eggs Benedict are very good. They are on a green chile biscuit with a creamy green chile hollandaise sauce. This is a great spot to have brunch on a Sunday morning.

Come in for the coffee, stay for the Eggs Benedict!! Probably the best eggs benedict you will find in town! This dish is packed with flavor and quality ingredients, from the green chile biscuit to the jalapeno hollandaise sauce, and of course, the BACON!! What an amazing spin on a classic - don't miss out on this treat!

Riding Amtrak back to Chicago train arrived in ABQ early, we found this sweet place on Yelp while riding the train and gave it a shot. I got fish tacos and my wife got the ABQ Turkey. While the meals where being prepared(to go) we enjoyed great Margaritas out front in the early afternoon sun. Food was ready quick staff was friendly and helpful and back on the train our meals were fantastic. You might need to phone in your order if your stop is short don't miss your train!

This is one of my go to spots in Albuquerque. It's downtown and the cafe is beautiful. The service is good and they are very nice. The breakfast is delicious. The only complaint I have is the iced tea. I'm a Texan so it's a staple of any meal. They made it but it came out cloudy. Which all good southern iced tea lovers know should be clear. They said it came from the New Mexico tea company. Well it tastes like they mixed it with adobe and they filtered it with an Indian woman's socks. I had the gold hash which was good. They comped the tea so they are awesome.

I love the atmosphere of this place. We went for breakfast Sunday morning after stopping by a few places on the way that were closed on Sundays. We were going to go to the Grove, but this place was closer and not crowded at all. I had the Eggs Eleganza on Brioche. It sounded delicious: poached eggs atop homemade green chile brioche, local goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, and fresh chopped herbs. Sounds good right? I really should have gone with the southwest eggs benadict that I had a few years ago when I last visited. I still remember it...so that tells you what an impact it made. But good ol' me wanted to try something new. It wasn't a bad dish, it just wasn't what I wanted..although it was exactly what was stated on the menu. It was kind of bland. It lacked flavor (to me) or spice. That being said, someone else at my table got the southwest eggs benedict, while others got the Cowboy plate and the Way Good Huevos. They were all raving about their food. I was quite jealous. I'll be back to Gold Street Cafe. I just won't have the Eggs Eleganza again.

The places I find when I go to downtown in the day time! This place is pretty darn great. The breakfast food is tasty and the green chili biscuits are.. mmm mmm good. My wife ordered the southwest eggs Benedict and those also tasted fantastic. The service was great and the atmosphere is nice. I'll have to come back and try that tasty looking 50/50 burger next time.

3.5 stars would be most appropriate. There was a fifteen minute wait when we arrived and people continued to come and go the entire time we were there, so all signs would suggest a great spot. However, I think this place benefits more from overblown hype and it's downtown location than delectable food. I ordered the cowboy breakfast, or some iteration of cowboy something, and this promised a green chile biscuit, ham, eggs and salsa. Does it sound amazing? Yeah, I'd say so. Unfortunately, this was only good. The biscuit wasn't quite as delicious as I imagined and the egg and ham weren't as inspired as I would've liked. The salsa was good and really packed all the flavor and punch, but proved not to be enough, as after I doused it over everything, I still wished I'd had a bowl rather than the tiny server cup I'd received. My wife had a belgian waffle with raspberry, which again sounds and looks delicious, but after trying it, I immediately felt it tasted just like what I make at home. I guess that's not a bad thing, but I'm no expert chef and I'd certainly expect that if I'm paying someone to make me something it's going to better than what I can make myself. Otherwise, why the hell am I paying someone to cook for me?! Overall, the service was friendly and swift and the hostess was on point in keeping us informed on when we'd be seated and such, so that deserves some commendation.

My husband and I treated ourselves to a breakfast while the kids were at Grandma's house. Little did I know, my mind was about to be blown. I had their Eggs Benedict, (it is my breakfast weakness) and to say I'm impressed is a vast understatement. From the first bite to the last one I could muster all I could say was "MMMMM!!! ERMAHGERDMMMMMM!!!" to which my husband mumbled past a mouthful of red chile drenched breakfast burrito "Mmmhmmm.... MMMMM". When the smugness of our nods wore off enough to have a sip of their tasty coffee treat.... some sort of white-chocolate-latte-facegasm I can't remember the title of, the ritual started again. I instantly wanted to run through Albuquerque streets declaring my love for hollandaise sauce and caffeine to all of my beloveds.... but instead I told everyone I ran into that day. Our waiter was a delight. Our food was warm, delicious, tasted fresh and comforted my innards. My only complaint is that one of the poached eggs was a little snotty. Slightly underdone. I'm not a fan of boogery eggs. I was so happy with the meal as a whole that I could look past it. I have looked past it. And I shall return.

This place is really cute with an interesting menu however the service was slow, the food was not hot when it finally arrived and it was just ok. I wouldn't rush back here.

I was very excited to go to this resturaunt with my family because we heard so much about it the ambience is great, there were only one other party there. It took forever to get service and then forever to get our food. We ordered the broccoli soup which came out the consistency of mashed potatoes and was over salty. No one ate it. Our BLT was disappointingly average ( better at Denny's my mother said). Our $10 dollar salad would have been fine if it were $6.00. Very over priced for what could have been a side salad elsewhere. The service was not great especially since we were almost the only ones in the restaurant.

The buttermilk used in the pancakes definitely sets the pancakes a cut above the rest. The pancakes were fresh and hot unlike most places in the city (Abq), and come with fresh whipped butter and hot maple syrup. Overall all the food here was great, our waiter was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get away from the big box places i.e, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, etc..

I ate here twice during my stay in ABQ, once for breakfast and once for dinner. I went back the second time for pure convenience. Both meals were ok but truthfully, I was hoping for more. For breakfast, I has eggs with the famous bacon and equally famous biscuit, both of which were fine but underwhelming considering how much i read about them. There was also supposed to mascarpone but I couldn't find any. The coffee was very good as was the fruit salad. I found myself starving and in the vicinity of the GSC around dinner and stopped in for a pretty tasty and very affordable agave wine margarita. For dinner, I had the green chile meatloaf with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The asparagus was cooked just right, still has a bit of snap to it. The rest of the dish was very good and the serving was huge! Service was pleasant both times. This is a cute little spot and I'd go again but I also didn't eat or drink anything that was super impressive like I was hoping for.

Wow, Gold Street Caffe is definitely a gem in DT Abq... I went for brunch on the Sunday before Christmas. We had to sign in and only waited about 5 minutes before we were sat. Service was fast and nice. Coffee was good, food was great! I will definitely be back!

This place is really a hidden gem in the downtown area. The menu is unique for ABQ and refreshing to see menu items that cannot be found at other restaurants. The wait staff is super friendly and always there with a refill when you need it.

Ate breakfast on the recommendations of a 'foodie' - warm environment - nice help but not efficient - ordered sausage not bacon; asked for to go cup 3 times - coffer HORRIBLE and yes I know it's illy which does have nice canisters but the taste almost like gavelia is Totally ick!!!! Breakfast burrito was good but nothing to write home about - green chili muffins made in house good but NOT delicious - pancake just ordinary - if ya need a pancake one must go to Nate and Hannah's. Update: manager left note inviting me to be his guest. Should get additional star for that! Great follow up and concern for the customer. I will go again.

Today was my second visit to Gold Street, I loved it the first time and was excited to order something off of their lunch menu. Although they close at 3:00, the kitchen really closes at 2:00. I walked in about 10 minutes before 2:00 and was told that they were closing. I mentioned that I thought they were open until 3:00. The front staff told me to wait and they would ask the cook. I overheard him say, "it depends what she wants." I felt very unwelcome and decided to leave.

The service is terrible. Our waiter was very slow even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. Tables had dirty plates and food sitting there for 30 minutes to an hour. Under our table was some sort of child's slime/goo toy that was dirty. And the food arrived cold. It wasn't very good. It also took a while to get our bill and to pay. Will not be going again.

Great little breakfast spot. Not very busy on weekdays for brunch. Food is very good. I had the short stack of pancakes which left me stuffed! Good coffee. Are willing to substitute and omit items. Friendly staff. Over all a very good place to brunch. Try the chili bacon!

We were looking for a coffee shop, but found a restaurant. Their lattes looks great, but i just had two elsewhere so we did lunch. I had the 40-50 burger, swhich is ground beef and ground bacon - yeah, you read that right - with white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and spiced mustard. You can get an all beef party if you like. Comes with fries (only downsize was they wouldn't switch to fruit for me without an up charge, when fruit coars less on the menu than fries. This is a small flaw). The burger was worth every bite of smoky goodness. Not overpowering but you know it is there. I wonder if you could gild the lily with a fried egg on top. My husband had the cubano wrap, with chips and salsa, and was very happy with its size and texture. We would certainly ear there again. Acceptable service, good atmosphere wiifh old movies playing on the tv.

I got the zucchini sandwich with potato salad, which was good, though the zucchini was a little rubbery in texture, for some reason i thought it was going to be breaded and fried, but it was roasted, so perhaps I was let down by my own incorrect expectations. The potato salad was good, a little too oniony for my tastes, but still yummy. My friend got a latte that she said was amazing and she let me have a bite of her green chili biscuit which was yummy. I'd go back, but I'd order something different next time personally.

Music was loud and not a very good choice for background music. The coffee was cold, and also very bitter. I ordered a breakfast burrito for $9. If I am paying that much for ONLY a burrito I expect to have a good portion of eggs and bacon. This burrito was filled with bland potatoes, and the tortilla was extremely hard and crumpled on the bottom. I could have saved a ton of money and received great portions if I had gone to Frontier instead. Maybe Gold Street is under new management, but the quality is very poor for the prices they are charging.

Some of the best food in Albuquerque. THE ABSOLUTE WORST service in the city. Every experience has started with standing at the front for over 10 min with no acknowledgement from any staff and I've barely seen the waiters while eating there. The food is so good it keeps me coming back.

  • Ashes W.

I didn't like it. I expect more from a restaurant. My friend really wanted to go. I been there many years ago for the filming of "love and dancing". And remember the place only through tea. Which if I just had tea, I would still be disappointed. Everything I ordered was missing something, " we don't have this or that or milk or etc". Now, when I order food, I usually can't eat anything. I have a weird stomach and ask people not to give me bacon and egg on stuff so when I order food and they give me bacon and egg. He might have forgot, or maybe he was convinced he was busy in the virtually empty restaurant or maybe it's time to put down the pipe when you are at work? I don't like bad service. I don't like servers who can't even fake that enjoy their job let alone their lives. Maybe the breakfast industry isn't your thing--- so maybe it's time for another job. I don't like giving people a " good job " award when they are no giving a good job. The food was par. The place was clean. The service was bellow par and we left with the understanding that if we were regulars the service would still be terrible. So, nay! Nay I say!!!

I've been to Gold Street probably 4 times for breakfast now and feel I have a good idea of their menu items. I have never had anything off the menu that wasn't amazingly delicious. Their belgian waffle was crunchy and sweet, the Southwestern Eggs Benedict was amazing, the Breakfast Burrito was huge and swimming with delicious ingredients. The omelet was pretty standard fare (still very good). The pancakes were perfectly cooked, so light and fluffy yet slightly crispy from the griddle too. The real star of the show for me is their Chile Glazed Bacon. I order it with any breakfast entree I order, it is that good. Bathed in a smoky sweet chile glaze and cooked to perfection, this bacon is seriously worth the trip alone. The service is always impeccable and the little cafe moves a lot of people so the wait is never long! MUST VISIT FOLKS! We haven't been for dinner but will try to go back sometime!

I stopped here alone for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had the chicken salad on a green chile cheese biscuit and a glass of the house white. The chicken salad wasn't unusually special, but the biscuit was sublime. It had just the tiniest bit of heat from the chiles, and the texture was more like a scone than anything else. The wine was a perfect complement to the sandwich and I left very happy.

I am only disappointed that it took me so long to finally get here for a weekend breakfast. The southwestern eggs Benedict is nothing short of heaven! I couldn't resist the blueberry white chocolate scone. Seriously...the best best best scones I've ever had....and I'm a scone snob. The green chile biscuits that most of the meals center around are pure New Mexico genius. Just a great meal!!

Looking for a great breakfast or even lunch downtown? This is a great place to visit with award winning entrees. This is the place where business meetings and networking takes place. I always run into people I know here. It is a small local place with a lot of heart and local staples. Try it out, you will love it!

  • Donna S.

I found the food here at Golden Street Caffe rather bland with generic food like B.L.T's and fish taco's. However, the atmosphere here was good and lively. They also had good portion sizes especially for their worth ($9 for a BLT) however the sides are extra. The only place they stand out is in their coffee. With unique types like caramel mochas and a white velvet latte. All in all this was another generic coffee shop with three stars to show for it.

    (3)
  • Nina L.

The bacon is crazy DELICIOUS and totally worth the trip to downtown just for the bacon. I had eggs benedict today and it was good. The biscuit was a little dry but the flavor from the bacon and the jalepeño hollandaise made up for it. The latte's here are pretty and good.

I go out of my way when I drive across the country to hit up the Gold Street Caffe, mostly just for their home fries, which, I make bold to claim, are the best in America. Albuquerque is not exactly a hotbed for vegetarians, and the reason this place is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because it has too much meat on its menu. But when you're driving across the country, and you just want a good egg and toast and home fries breakfast, you can't go wrong with this place. For the middle of the desert, for when you want a good meal after suffering for days with poison in the trashy diners, this place does the trick. Whether it'd be that laudable in a cultured place with many good choices remains to be seen. But when you're 1,100 miles from the nearest coast, this place is a sweet, sweet oasis.

Just came in here for a quick bite to eat. Had the 3^3. I was really hoping for 27 items on my plate but there were only 3 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon and 2 pieces of toast. They should probably rename their items 2x2 and 3x3 ;-) The food was just fine. Simple breakfast food. Simple presentation of the goods. I also got a "hand squeezed" lemonade. I would avoid this. It was $4 and tasted like something that you would get out of a soda machine at a fast food restaurant. Good location however, close to the convention center.

So I revisited this spot again last week and I felt like I had to write another 5 star review. I was seated very quickly and the service was fantastic and prompt. Secondly, the food was damn near phenomenal. I had the steak salad and the meat was cooked to perfection. I devoured it in seconds and wanted another. Thirdly, the staff is beyond exceptional. My coffee and water were filled consistently, not just by my server but by the entire staff. They were also very friendly and provided some entertaining side conversation which made me feel at home. Also I wanted to add, my server was swamped and she still managed to handle everyone around me and my fellow patrons also seemed pleased. I asked her name specifically for this review and I'd like to say thanks to Rally. If you want really good food with really good people, come here.

GSC is awesome! The wait staff is attentive and know what service is (very attractive staff)! The Albuquerque Turkey was very tasty with a large slice of avocado. The green salad was fresh, the vinaigrette tangy. The coffee was robust and has me Jonesing for another. My waitress spilled cream on the table and comped us a scone. OMG it was sooo good, crunchy on the outside and velvet sweatiness inside! I will be back if just for a scone and coffee.

My office ordered take out to celebrate a couple birthdays. Gold Street was a complete disappointment and sadly ruined the occasion. Once a posh ABQ institution where you could get a unique meal, this place is now a sad shadow of its former self. Trouble started when we were unable to call in the order. We called 5 times over an hour, but no one answered the phone--they just let it go to voicemail. We ended up just driving over and placing the order in person. There were lots of flies in the restaurant. They had bags of water hanging from lights apparently to try to get rid of them. 5 of 7 meals were incorrect when we got back to the office. Some meals didn't match up to the menu (ABQ Turkey served on dry bread, rather than green chile biscuit as advertised, quesadilla with pinto not black beans, chips instead of salad, etc.). To make it all worse, the prices were quite high for the amount and quality of the food provided. We won't be returning to this place.

I have eaten at gold street many times in the last several years. The food is always good. The service however is a steady decline. Today my family and I went for breakfast. We were seated promptly. Our waitress passed us several times, promising each time that she would be right back. 20 minutes later our order was taken. We barely received our drinks before our food came out. 2 plates (bagels!) took even longer to come out. Today I ordered the special, sirloin tacos. The meat was over cooked and very fatty. Seriously disappointing.

We were once frequent patrons of Gold Street who like supporting local businesses; this latest visit has underscored our desire to never go back. After waiting for ten minutes to be seated a server offers to seat us at the community table (which we were totally fine with); however, as the server is about to walk us back to the table (menus in hand) he rescinds the offer when a party of five walks in the door (we were a party of three). We get seated about five minutes later and when the food arrives two of the three dishes aren't prepared to our specifications: red chile instead of green, acrid/burnt wheat toast and eggs not prepared to order (hard as opposed to sunny side-up). I've never been offered a table at a restaurant only to have the server say, "Sorry, have to take that back; you'll need to wait a few more minutes." That on top of the issues with the food has been a clear indication to us that Gold Street now delivers both sub-par service as-well-as food.

I was in town for a conference and the hotel recommended Gold Street Cafe. We went there for lunch today (Sunday) and found the food to be good, but the service was totally lacking. The host tossed our menus on the table and failed to tell us that only breakfast was being served at 12:30. The waitress was disinterested and seemed put out that she even had to speak to us. We had the Huevos Rancheros and Breakfast Burrito which were both good, and a friend had the peanut butter latte that she said was delicious. I would not recommend this restaurant until they correct their waitstaff problem.

It has been months since you have been able to redeem a gift card from Gold Street Caffe. I have no idea what the problem is, but it doesn't seem to be a priority to get the situation corrected. I would not recommend a business that continues to sell gift cards that cannot be redeemed. Very bad business practices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh...don't get me started about the employees attitudes, which seems to be a constant complaint about Gold Street Caffe!!

Entitled waitress. Las a fare service. Subpare staff. Filthy restrooms (women's room had an overflowing toilet with quarter inch of water on the surface.) Mediocre, unimpressive food. Sandwiches served on dry big bread "Texas toast." Water was cold and not tap water. The environment hipster shiek. If the Standard Diner was open at 10:45 this review would not have been written.

There's much better in Albuquerque. I found myself downtown during lunch time and opted to try Gold Street Caffe. I don't think I will ever visit them again. When you walk up to the restaurant, the first thing you notice is a row of tables outside the front door. The storefront is appealing and we decided to eat our lunch inside since it was a hot NM day. There is a dessert display case that faces the main body of the restaurant, and the cakes appear to be dry and fallen and old. I knew right away that I would not want dessert. We ordered iced tea but was served mango tea instead......it is the only option. The menu seemed like it had a good variety on it, and we went with the daily special, enchiladas. The staff was inattentive to our table. There were several waitresses on duty, but they all seemed to hang out behind the aging cake display case or out on the sidewalk tending to the tables outside. Because of the lack of attention by the staff, our meals enjoyed an extended visit under their warming lights in the kitchen. The result was a meal that was crusted over and dried out. The red chili was baked into a dried ketchup consistency. The beans and lettuce was also dried up. Our mango tea was refilled once during the entire visit. Our bill was $30 for two people, and I would suggest spending that money somewhere else downtown.

Great food, great coffee. The Southwest eggs benedict is arguably the best breakfast in Albuquerque. Sadly, while I've ate breakfast, I saw 2 groups of people (7 people total) leave due to no host(ess) talking to them about seating. Service has always been an issue, but, it looks like it got remedied as soon as they saw the second group leave and for the remainder of our breakfast people were being waited on immediately. Maybe their working on their service issues.

Sharon Reviews Gold Street Cafe, Albuquerque, New Mexico The best time I have visited Gold Street Cafe was the day after New Year's, New Years Day 2012. I went in for brunch. Had the eggs Benedict, New Mexico style with green chile and mimosas. It was the perfect way to ring in the New Year. The eggs were a tad undercooked for me, so they heated them up a bit. That is my own baggage, not the restaurant. I love eggs Benedict but am wary of a poached egg that is not poached enough. The best part was the green chile biscuit that came on top of the eggs. Marvelous combination all together. The street parking is good during brunch hours but is busy during lunch. There is a parking garage which is rather expensive; however, there are parking lots nearby that are cheaper. Don't risk getting a parking ticket downtown! This happens a lot to unsuspecting travelers! When you walk in, you are greeted by the friendliest staff and a wonderful warm atmosphere. There is wonderful art work on the walls and it makes for a fun brunch.

As a downtown ABQ resident it is always THRILLING to be able to experience a 'big city' restaurant such as Gold Street Caffe. Dinner last night was really great. Fish tacos with cocunut rice and beans for only $9.95. Most other dinner entrees are more expensive. Great classy atmosphere and good service........probably because it was a slow evening. I do avoid it for brunch as it seems tooooo chaotic to enjoy. I will return for dinner though.

I was very disappointed this time. Last time we ate there, about a year ago, it was very good. This time the sandwich was missing the pesto and the basil which were two key ingredients. The mushroom soup was so salty, you couldn't taste anything else.

The star at Gold Street Caffe is the Southwest Style Eggs Benedict, which I believe is only available as the special on weekends. 2 perfectly poached eggs atop green chile biscuits, chile rubbed bacon, and all smothered in a zippy jalepeno hollandaise. It's good. Otherwise, this Caffe is just average. Service is so-so. We ordered both specials on Saturday, and the previously mentioned Eggs Bene came out first, about 10 minutes before the other special (a stuffed french toast with strawberries and Kiwi whipped cream). I still believe that if they had come out together, we would have had the perfect balance of sweet and savory for our breakfast. But no. We had a very tasty savory breakfast, and then an incredibly over-sweet one. My wife's latte had no foam on it, so it was actually an au lait. My coffee was good, but I can get similar taste and quality by making it at home. 3 stars all around.

First: the food is the crest of mediocrity and the prices are indeed bonkers. You can read many of the other reviews to get a better idea about how this place tries to be slick and innovative...and really doesn't pull it off. Second, and to the point: BEWARE of using your CREDIT CARD here! I was there a short time ago and was shocked when we got our receipts back and the entire credit card number was listed! Pretty sure that that is extremely uncool if not illegal. When we complained about it our waitress said she knew it was a problem--and management knew it was a problem--but nothing had been done to get a modern machines that affords their patrons more privacy. You'd figure that for the prices they charge and for the food you get someone could cough up for a better credit card machine. So much for this local business doing its part to help prevent fraud and identity theft. Blegh!

I had visited this restaurant a couple years back and really enjoyed it. I thought they had great food and the service was decent enough to go back. However, after my experience a couple weeks ago, I'll never be back. Our server was "sick", indicated to us by another server as some excuse for our long wait. We waited 20 minutes to get a cold cup of soy milk. Although our server was pleasant, it was annoying to watch the tables around us get ignored while our server sipped coffee and chatted with another waitress. Our food was decent, nothing to write home about. After my boyfriend posted on the Gold Street Facebook page about our experience, the owner wrote him back telling him it wasn't by fault of the restaurant and that it was our responsibility to notify him or her while we were there. Unfortunately, the owner was no where to be found. Very unprofessional, if he or she cared about their guests, they would be checking tables. Super lame, I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

Went for Sunday brunch with my sister, we both had the eggs eleganza (she with the grilled salmon). the eggs were poached perfectly, served with tender brioche, creamy fresh goat cheese, fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes. My BIL had the cowboy breakfast with the green chile biscuit, I'm assuming he enjoyed it because he didn't leave a crumb on his plate. The portions are modest so if you want to get stuffed you should probably head to Denny's for their grand slam breakfast. We sat out on the patio which was great for people watching and enjoying the lovely fall weather.

I have passed Gold Street Caffe numerous times and checked out the menu online. It all looked good - a bit expensive but I was hoping the portions were in sync with the prices. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. We walked in and were not greeted although there was someone at the register. I stopped a waitress and asked if we could just seat ourselves but was told that someone would help us. After a few minutes of standing around, we were seated at the table we were standing next to. Then we waited a little longer than normal for anyone to come to our table and take our drink order. Everyone appeared to be a bit confused and frazzled. Granted, it was lunchtime during the week but the place was not overly busy and, being Downtown, I would expect them to be accustomed to a hopping lunch crowd. The hubby had an open-faced ham and swiss. He asked what sides came with it and was given a list which included fruit. He ordered that for the toddler and then found out that we were charged extra. We should have been informed of the extra charge but were not. The sandwich was okay - nothing special - and cost $8.95 plus $ .95 for the fruit. I had the Albuquerque Turkey. I asked for it on wheat bread three times but still received it on sourdough. Not really a big deal since I like sourdough but seriously, I mentioned wheat bread THREE times. There was avocado on the sandwich but it was a meager amount and it was already turning black - meaning it had been cut and left out too long. Even Subway waits until you order to cut the avocado. I opted for a side of "pan fries" which were actually roasted potatoes. Sadly, they were tasteless. This mediocre sandwich cost $9.25. After such a disappointing meal, I took a look at the baked goods. They appeared appetizing so I took a mini loaf of banana bread and a chocolate chip cookie. The banana bread was lacking the strong banana flavor that I expected. They are charging $3.25 for an item that is not as tasteful as a boxed mix. The cookie was $2.90. It was quite large but, as we all know, size does not necessarily equal satisfaction. Overall, eating at Gold Street Caffe was a less than great experience. I really expected more after reading the reviews but it appears most people rave about the breakfast rather than lunch. Personally, I will not be bothering to try the breakfast.

Terrible service. Ordered shrimp tacos and after waiting 20 minutes, they told me they were out of shrimp. Ugh. Go somewhere else.

Came by here for breakfast about a month ago with a friend. The Southwest Eggs Benedict was outstanding and our waitress was great. Probably the best breakfast I've ever had.

I love this place. Good atmosphere, delicious unique breakfasts. If you are staying in downtown Abq, eat here. Cowboy breakfast is awesome. Raspberry white chocolate scone is best I've ever had. I go here every time I'm in town.

Delicious brunch. Love the green chile biscuit. My husband and I usually split an eggs benedict (which they make 1/2 vegetarian and 1/2 with meat) and a sweet breakfast treat like french toast or pancakes. We love the Southwest Eggs Benedict and the Blueberry Pancakes. Nice al fresco seating. Friendly, prompt service.

Not very good. I went here on recommendation from my hotel concierge for dinner. After I arrived and ordered I looked it up on yelp. I guess their breakfast is supposed to be pretty good. I ordered Christmas enchiladas. They were not flavorful and not satisfying. The blackness were OK, but odd...lots of cinnamon ? The best tasting thing on the plate was the rice. I would not go back for lunch or dinner. Maybe I would considered trying breakfast.... maybe.

This place looked cute. Menu looked good too. However, it took a little while to be seated (not a big deal in itself). We sat outside because it was really loud inside. Turns out there are lot of flies in front of this place. Waitress took our drink orders promptly. Then returned soon for our food orders. Then we waited. No drinks came. Our food came in a reasonable amount of time. Drink still didn't come. Finally drinks came halfway through meal (including the water). Food was mediocre at best. Sounds fancy: Green chile biscuit with mascarpone cheese and soft scrambled eggs. But it just tasted like eggs and a biscuit that you could get anywhere. My tea latte was not good - just tasted like sweet hot milk (barely tasted any tea). So I sent it back. She removed that off the bill, but still charged for my friend's mocha. She drank it; it was pretty tasty, but when you wait so long, I think it should be comped. It seemed a little pricey, too, since nothing was that special. Then she shorted us $10 on the change. She brought it back when we pointed it out, but that was kind of the last straw.

Food should win out over service. Yes it sucks when you are invisible to the waitstaff or the Manager is an idiot, but chances are the next person will not have the same experience. The food, however, is most likely consistent. For my first visit here I had the Cowboy breakfast - soft scrambled eggs, ham, marscapone on a huge green chili biscuit. A great pairing of flavors. Also had an iced mocha. Then a side of that wonderful bacon! That was incredible.

Looks good on paper, but FAIL in execution. They know how to make bacon, and there is enough variety on the menu that anyone could find something they want. Otherwise: overpriced, inconsistent food. The service is eye-rolling hipsters who treat you like you are stuck to their shoe- the management is worse. That's fine, if this were a record store, or on a coast. Downtown Albuquerque glorified coffee shop, get over yourself. The last time I was there, I waited over one hour for my food (after waiting to be seated, then waiting to be waited on, and the dining room was less than half full), it came out wrong, and I was refused a refund?! SERIOUSLY?! They asked me to pay for food I did not order! I asked to speak to a manager, who told me I still had to pay! Then: the waitress SNAPPED AT MY THREE YEAR OLD CHILD who was, I think, understandably impatient. My kid was not crying, whining, bothering people, making a mess. She was just hungry and fidgeting. She was silent, just squirming in her chair, and a service person YELLED at her. It is only the second time I've ever stormed out of a place in my life, and the first involved broken glass in my dish. Frankly, both the waitress and manager are lucky I didn't punch them! I will never go back!

Five stars plus. The hotel recommended the place for breakfast. Liked it so much yesterday we came back today. The blueberry scones are heavenly. I had the three egg omelette with green chile and bacon yesterday and the wife had the huevos rancheros. Today I had eggs and bacon and she had Eggs Benedict. The bacon had a red chile glaze and the wife loved the Eggs Benedict that had a very light sauce. The service was great on both days. Thanks Jose and Bonnie! And the prices are extremely reasonable. Definitely will be back next time we are in Albuquerque!

Short & Sweet review for Gold Street having the most delightful & indulgent scones! Anytime I'm in the downtown area & not on a diet.......LOL "I MUST have a blueberry scone & cup of coffee!

Food was good, but the service wasn't. We waited quite a long time before anyone waited on us, then nearly 45 min later, the food came despite it not being that busy. The prices are also unreasonable in such a poor city. I doubt we will return.

Being a brunch, seafood and most importantly, potato lover- my breakfast experience at Gold Street Caffe was pretty much designed for my taste buds. While dealing with my internal dilemma of ordering between the lemon ricotta pancakes and the lobster hash (the struggle was real) my gal pal fortunately picked up on my vibe and ordered the pancakes and I, the latter. The pancakes were fluffy, with the perfect hint of lemon flavor that was perfectly matched with the side o' jam. As far as the lobster hash goes... I mean what more can you say? Lobster, an abundance of little potatoes, eggs, a creamy buttery yet lemony sauce... ALLLL GOOOD!!! Yum yum yum!

First time here and will definitely return. I had Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon which was superb. The potatoes that came with it were cooked perfectly. Food was hot and delivered quickly and service was great. It's a little pricey but worth a treat and the free scone definitely offset this.

Delicious food. Try their bacon. It's the best bacon in town. Their scones are so delicious. Staff knows me by name.. That's pretty awesome. No wonder they've been in business 20 years.

We typically come for breakfast and the Gold Hash, Southwest Bennie and Cowboy breakfast all deserve top ratings. They've earned the best bacon moniker bite for chewy bite. Coffee is great (Illy brand). We can highly recommend their rock fish taco lunch. I'm sorry but it's a disservice (pun intended) to give dramatically low stars to a place because of one bad service visit. A N = 1 is hardly scientific proof; we've been at least 20+ times in the last 3 years and they average out to very good service. First impressions last, follow-up impressions ring truer. In fairness we typically have the same waiters; the bad ones are weeded out, we can tell. Service changeover is an unavoidable part of the restaurant industry. Their small patio is very inviting.

This is one of my favorite brunch places across the entire nation! Anytime I am in ABQ I stop by this place and get their Southwest Eggs Benedict. They treat their customers very well and their food is unique and incredibly delectable. Five stars!

Either this place has really gone down hill or they were having an extremely off day, regardless our most recent experience here was not so great. The first issue was when we walked in the door, or should I say attempted to squeeze through the crowded door. It was so disorganized and no one was dedicated to taking names or even bussing tables. Instead 3 tables sat un-bussed and people were crowding the doorway trying to get sat. I realize it was a busy morning for them but it was ridiculous how many people were behind the counter not helping. So once we finally got sat, it was right by the door l, which was open 90% of the time and freezing. The service was terrible. The server was just all over the place and not really that friendly. Maybe she was overwhelmed, but she kept forgetting things we'd ask for. The food took forever and was decent. I normally come here for the hash, which was great minus the cold eggs. The last thing that really just upset me was the restrooms. They seemed as if they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. It was pretty disgusting. I really used to enjoy brunch here but this most recent experience has really disappointed me.

    - stale, moldy, blueberry scone (dubious amount of mold pockets) - no silverware - mealy apple in fruit side for $3 - 3 slices of avocado for $1.5 - potato lacking breakfast burrito + friendly waitress

The food is wonderful here. One of the best breakfasts in town with a cozy urban industrial feel. The homemade green chile biscuits are phenomenal; especially when paired with the jalapeño hollandaise on the Benedict. The main complaint is the consistently slow service. Expect a five minute wait to get a menu after sitting.

Redemption. The manager reached out to me after my last review, and was honest about the situation at that time. I can appreciate that, and I respect his integrity. Being that I did enjoy the food previously, I thought I'd at least take the bait and try this place once more. Turns out, on this trip Gold Street Caffe was more on top of things. Same waitress as previously, but this time (Saturday noon) she seemed a little more with-it in terms of what was going on. Maybe because it wasn't as busy, but either way we were greeted, seated, and within five minutes she brought out waters. Food was good, as I expected. I had the Cubano wrap, which I should point out cannot properly be called Cubano because it lacked pickles. But it was good, regardless. Wife had Albuquerque Turkey, which takes advantage of the famous green chile cheese biscuits. Great beer selection, although the waitress didn't seem to know that the drafts were from a Colorado microbrewery (Ska Brewing, they make the Mexican Logger, she was telling folks that they had a "Mexican Lager" without clarification). Excellent Bloody Marys. Overall, I am very glad to see this place on the up and up. I have always enjoyed the cuisine, and now it seems that after a stumble they are back up and running.

I saw great reviews about this place and decided to check it out. I got a breakfast sandwich. They ran out of muffins and I used wheat bread instead which I wouldn't recommend because the bread was over toasted. They also added tomatoes to my order when I only ordered bacon, egg, and cheese. But that wasn't a big deal. I would definitely try it again with a muffin next time. I also had a chocolate cup cake which was delicious!!! I will be back for cup cakes for sure!

I had a bad experience here about 6 months ago and decided it was time to give them another chance. It was totally worth it, my breakfast was delicious and the service was very good. I am very happy that they are back to they way they used to be! I got the eggs Benedict with a mimosa and he got the cowboy breakfast, we both enjoyed our experience.

Best espresso in the city! I can't speak to the food as I've yet to try it; I tend to just stop by for an afternoon pick-me-up during the workday. Cool, trendy, urban atmosphere. It does tend to get busy; the choice street-side tables are usually taken but there's plenty of seating inside.

I went to GSC for the fourth time this morning and I left happy as I always do and ready for a post-brunch nap. I got the Southwest Eggs Benedict, and I can't say much else about the other items on the menu because I always get the SW Bennie. However, while we waited for a few minutes for a table, we couldn't help but to notice the table next to us - it looked like the customers were having the huevos and some sort of egg sandwich...made our mouths water. With the SW Bennie, I can't stray away from the green chile biscuit, jalapeño hollandaise and applewood smoked bacon! My friend and I split the dish and it was plenty enough for the both of us. She got the blood orange mimosa and I got the Bloody Mary, easy on the pepper- we both really enjoyed our Sunday recovery drinks! I am not an early bird on the weekends and usually head to brunch around 11. I've never had a problem with seating. Sometimes the pesky lil flies and gnats distract me, but it's a minor annoyance...the food and drinks, comfortable environment, and good company make up it!

I was in town for a work meeting and had just enough time for one Yelp run. My new friend and I set out on an early morning mission to try the breakfast burrito at Cecilia's Cafe only to discover the downtown location was closed on Saturday! On our sad walk back to the hotel we came across this cafe and decided we may as well give it a try. The BREVE LATTE was fantastic. Strong and creamy. We also had the ORANGE JUICE. Good, but expensive ($3 for a small). After studying the regular menu and the specials, my friend chose the EGGS BENEDICT, which she really liked, except for the bacon (more below). I went with the TWO TO THE THIRD POWER EGG PLATE (two farm fresh eggs, two slices of thick-cut and chile glazed bacon and two thick slices of Sage Bakehouse toast). It also came with a side of fresh salsa. The eggs, salsa and toast were great. The bacon we both agreed would be so much better if it were crispy. It was disappointing as is. More like jerky than bacon. Please fry it some more! I added a GREEN CHILE CHEESE BISCUIT and oh yes, that was one good biscuit. Still warm and buttery. You can't go to New Mexico and not have something with green chiles!

Sat down but walked out before ordering. The server was unfriendly. She put a white cloth napkin on a filthy table outside for us. The table was visibly dirty. The table next to us was wet & dirty & she did the same. Our table had food on it that she covered with a cloth napkin. The table next to us was wet AND dirty. The brunch & breakfast menus were really limited & unappealing. Why give Gold Street my money? The waitress didn't want it. Would you seat a guest at a dirty table & act like you don't care?
