Compared to noodle joints in SF, this place would not stand a chance. But even in Albuquerque, it is pretty average. I had the beef pho and it was hot and plentiful, but the broth was somewhat bland. The rest of our party tried pad thai, fried noodle dishes, and rice dishes. None was stellar. The service was average....the waiter was polite and tried hard. But the kicker was using one teabag for a pot of tea, then using the same teabag for the second pot of tea.

Cannot say I was the hugest fan of this place. I think it is probably fine for the nonexistent asian food scene in Albuquerque, but definitely is not up to par with real asian restaurants. Our waiter was super nice, and patient, even with a raucous table of 8 people. We got three orders of spring wraps, which were forgotten, and actually didn't arrive until the end of our meal. Even so, they were relatively tasteless - not sure if Albuquerque ran out of stuff due to the large conference or what, but they tasted just like some salad wrapped up. The dipping sauce was nice though. I had the thai something or other. Basically, rice noodles and shrimps in a spicy lemongrass broth. It was fine, but not super. To be honest, I'm not sure what they are doing wrong. I think they try so hard to do all the different kinds of asian noodle soups without getting any of them down. Maybe they need to concentrate on just one or two regions, rather than the whole continent.

Let's be honest, downtown Albuquerque is not the first place that comes to mind when you think 'Asian noodles'. But, this place made me a believer. This place offers noodles you'd find in a variety of restaurant styles. Thai, Chinese, Japanese and others. Good, basic stuff. Friendly service, comfortable atmosphere.

I am really surprised that the overall rating is so low. Honestly, I eat a lot of Asian food (NYC has some great variety) and when I first saw this place on Yelp, I was a little hesitant. But since my choices were limited I decided to go here and I am happy to say that the overall rating was incorrect. This is very tasty food and the service is great. I had lunch here and then came back with a larger group for dinner. Everyone loved what they ordered and some even said it was too much food. If you are in the downtown area, I recommend this place.

Hands down the best Asian food, including sushi, in Albuquerque. The owners are wonderful people and are involved in every part of the business. I have never had a bad dish here and have had everything from sushi, to teriyaki chicken to pho. For sushi you can't go wrong with the fire and ice roll, spicy crab hand roll, or salmon lovers. It's always fresh and the best I have had in Albuquerque. They have a wide variety on their menu and something for everyone. This one is a staple for me!

This is some of the best asian food in Albuquerque. Clean, tasty and quick. They cook in front of the bar area so you can see hoe vlean they are. Full transparency.

My first experience here was less than great, mainly due to the poor customer service and long wait time for our meals, but my second visit was better. The first time we had the kids with us, but this time around I went solo and beat the lunch crowd. I ordered a beef vermicelli bowl, which was ready in a matter of a few minutes. I took my first bite and was pretty surprised that it was actually a cold dish since I was expecting it to be hot. Either way, it was very tasty and refreshing. My server was really friendly and apologized for not telling me the dish was cold, not that it was her fault. Since I work a couple of blocks away, I'll be back again. I just know now to beat the lunch hour crowd.

Surprisingly really good! I had very low expectations for this place with such a generic name and next to the Library downtown but my Thai Tom Yum was really really delicious! Perfectly spiced and light. I ate the entire bowl without feeling the salt bloat that you get from most restaurant soups. Bottles of sake are reasonably priced too.

This place is so convenient! I come here during lunch breaks because the service is so fast. The food is good. You do have to flavor your food a little more than it is when it's served BUT I think that's the beauty of it. I rather add a little flavor myself than have food over flavored.

I am not in love with this place. It is not my favorite. It's not terrible, but there was nothing truly memorable about it - at least not in a good way. I was excited to find a place in Albuquerque that has green papaya salad on the menu - I had not had one since leaving San Francisco. But let me warn you: It was the worst part of my meal, it did not at all have any of the qualities expected from the dish, and I would go so far as to say it was DISGUSTING. It had a nasty fishy taste and smell to it. It was far too liquidy. It had a bunch of Napa cabbage in it. It did not at all have the sweet and spicy hot components that it should. Bottom line here is avoid this like the plague if you are typically a fan of the dish. It was terrible. We also ordered tempura vegetables, which were not the same horror as the salad, but were too largely cut and too raw (in my opinion) to pair well with tempura. Imagine a huge chunk of fresh carrot and how hard that can be to bite through. Now put tempura batter on the outside. There you have it. The pad see ew was good, but I think that is a pretty tough dish to completely botch. It was not a great standout or anything, and I have definitely had better at other places in Albuquerque. I'm disappointed in this place. Considering it is within walking distance of my apartment, I was really hoping it would be worth going back to. It is not.

I had to set the papaya salad as far away on the table as I could in order to finish the rest of the food. It smelled and tasted like fish living in an old mop bucket. Not one of those fancy buckets either. Institutional learning-facility bucket. And fish that just came from the gym. I don't know how else to express the grossness that was this salad. There was a TV displaying the screen saver from the satellite feed that was super distracting, like a strobe in my face. But everything else was fine this time and others... I guess. It's strip-mall good, but not downtown good- if you want a night out / date meal kinda thing downtown, you want something GOOD, you know? This is just...eh. I'll go again probably because of location -I'll NEVER get that papaya salad though, and you can't make me!

I LOVE this pace. Man alive! great takeout, great eat in. the guy here is super cool. heard this place was top-rated in the country and I believe it. Even now that I live in the Bay Area. Super good!

By far one of my favorite restaurants in Albuquerque. The seating area is small and sometimes it gets hot in the summer, but the service is consistent and friendly. I haven't ventured out too much on the menu considering I am pretty much addicted to their sushi (AMAZING sushi chef) and their red curry. As for the sushi, the crunchy shrimp is the best in town along with the New Mexico roll. I'm a regular there and always will be- it's great to support a local business with great food.

Gimme a decent fresh roll and I'm in like Flynn. (I love Wikipedia. That phrase is generally attributed to the womanizing, freewheeling film icon Errol Flynn. Who knew?) Asian Noodle Bar wraps a pretty solid shrimp roll, three per order (unusual), the dipping sauce is that watery, sweet, fish sauced stuff, not my favorite but it works. So three stars right there, blammo. It's great that ABQ has a noodle bar in the downtown confines and this spot definitely works for the business lunch, service is pretty efficient, though you'll likely need to step up to the counter to pay the bill with a credit card. Everything I've ever eaten here has been good. Like A-OK. They cover a large swath of Asian cuisine and do it... good. I've tried the Spicy Basil flat noodle dish... good. Most recently we tried the Japanese udon... huh, well, good, not much to it, but good. And the Singapore curry, Whoa, a little too sweet for my palate, but eh, it's good. Good for you, Albuquerque, and Good on you, Asian Noodle Bar. We're happy you're both here. There's a lot of suits out there that need a good place to grab a bite. That's usin' yer noodle.

Ok I gotta say my brother found this joint. I actually enjoyed the food and will def. come back. First time to Albuquerque traveling through town. Food was served quick. Really good. The only thing though was there wasn't enough to meat on my order.

Service is always the best here and always friendly. I won't go anywhere else for pho. Also their fire and Ice sushi roll is amazing!! They lack 5 stars only because it can get pretty noisy when it is busy. Sounds of banging pots and pans is hard to talk over during the lunch hour. But it has never stopped me from going.

Amazing Chicken Pho here. I usually order the Pho and Chicken Kung Pao. Awesome place to eat in downtown and the service is great!

Kung Pao bowl with tofu and noodles (instead of rice) is the bomb. Best Kung Pao in town! Absolutely loaded with fresh veggies.

My party and I liked the food, but the service left something to be desired. Two of us had the Spicy Sesame, one with chicken and one with shrimp. The shrimp were some of the biggest shrimp I've seen served at a restaurant. We also had the gyoza and calamari as appetizers. My hub had some sort of fried basil rice with beef, which was tasty and kind of sweet. The gyoza was awesome!! The calamari was good and came with some ranch and a sweet sauce. The service started off pretty good and then we were brought our check about 1/2 way through our meal. They didn't ask if we wanted dessert or anything. Then they asked if the check was ready twice before we were completely finished eating. We felt like they were about to close and we were being rushed out of the place. They gave us a bit of grief about splitting the check up, too.

Having lived in Asia for 5 years--I've eaten all of these dishes in their authentic form. The dark red hue of the restaurant put me off a bit when I entered--kind of a heavy chi feeling. I doubt the restaurant will make it for the following reasons. 1) The food was very bland. I ordered the veggie cold noodles and the fresh spring rolls. True Asian food is energetically fresh with lots of in season vegetables. This dish was white noodles, white cucumbers, white cabbage and none of the fabulous surprises of sweet, salty, spicy typical of asian noodle dishes. The spring roll was white with white cabbage and white shrimp virtually tasteless. 2) The lack of ambience. The restaurant has typical Asian noodle shop functionality but isn't a comfortable place. Tables are too close together and the TV-bar jars the atmosphere. (Although I am learning that most American's NEED to eat in restaurants with movie screened size TV so they can get their constant dose of bad news.) 3) Too serious. The restaurant doesn't seem to know what it wants to be--functional, bar, romantic dinner, Asian, American but it does it all without the great Southwest sense of humor. I hope they can get a handle on what they want to do, but start with making the food high quality and delicious!

I thought this was a great little gem, tucked away in downtown. The food was good. I had a business lunch, so I could not dive into my dining partners dish, but it smelled fantastic. Mine was also good, and I saw/smelled some great dishes as they went by. I did not have any sushi, but the quality of fish they had set up on the bar looked good. Only drawback was that drink refills were a tick slow. And, frankly, the green tea was a little underwhelming. But, if that's the biggest complaint, I suppose they are doing alright.

The only reason this place isn't getting 5 stars from me is the order I had to go. Every time I've been in there the food has been great, and the wait staff have been very attentive.... never a long wait for your lunch and the pho was.... huge. I guess I can't really complain too much about the to go order. It did have to sit for 20 minutes for me to get back to my office. I'll be going back again soon.

Both my husband and I felt the food here lacked flavor. I had the Teriyaki chicken noodle bowl and he had the Pad Thai chicken hot. Our waitress was excellent and that's why I'm giving this place two stars. I doubt we will stop back in next time we visit NM.

I've only had the pho, but I've had it numerous times and it's always satisfying. I really need to branch out and try their other offerings. Along with the pho, they have other Vietnamese and Chinese dishes and even sushi. I'm always amazed at the lack of decent dinner places in downtown ABQ, so Asian Noodle Bar is a nice treat. I can always count on them for yummy food and quick, pleasant service.

Popped in for lunch. Service was fast and the decor was nice, prices were reasonable, but the yakisoba was only tolerably ok. Would maybe go back to try something else, but wouldn't recommend anyone go here for the yakisoba. Update: I went back to try the Thai Tom Yum because it got so much love on Yelp. Like the Yakisoba, several of the ingredients were noticeably low quality. The shrimp in particular, were not exactly fresh. The texture was a bit off. If you like chilli oil I guess, its pretty ok, because that's mostly what you'll be tasting. I really want to like this place, it has great decor, a great location, and plenty of waitstaff, and I am a big fan of noodle dishes. The food though, just fails to really deliver.

Decent service, better Thai food than most of what we get in Santa Fe. Maybe a little pricey, but I enjoyed everything I ate. Brought in a friend from San Francisco who liked it. I'll come back. Forgot to check and see if they had free Wifi. I think the waitress was new because she didn't exactly know how a couple of the dishes were prepared, but she just asked one of the chefs and we had our answers within a minute... AOK...

Coming from SF, I'm so used to seeing people of of my kind. Dark hair, almond shaped eyes, folks of Asian descent. In ABQ, I got excited when I saw a Chinese restaurant! let alone Asian people. That's why I wanted to try Asian noodle bar. But heed my warning: this is the ONLY Asian restaurant in downtown ABQ. (well, through the main street anyway!) Even before I sat down, I knew I wanted something with ramen noodles. Didn't care if it was chicken, pork, beef tongue, balls, what-have-you. Good thing they have the Japo rama on the menu. It comes with hard boiled egg, chicken, green onions and a side of tempura. Theirs was the typical 2 pieces of shrimp on top of a pile of veggies. My ramen noodle was ok. But, get this -- the veggie tempura came as a pile of SHREDDED veggies. I know. Weird. I have to admit, I got past the weird part, but couldn't get over the fact that my tempura didn't come with tempura sauce. Maybe that's a hard commodity to come by here? I ended up dipping my tempura in my ramen soup. Sadly, that just doesn't work for me.

In Albuquerque, you have to keep your reviews of asian places relative to the scene there, which is... nonexistent. Anyway... my cousin and I are such typical asian people because we just HAD to try an asian place while we were there amidst the wonderful New Mexican food (we ate plenty of that while we were there too). So whatever... we decide to go to this place and she got the japo rama (supposed to be ramen with a side of tempura shrimp and stuff?). She said the ramen was okay, and the shrimp tempura was good. The questionable part was that also included some tempura shredded vegetables, namely carrots and onions. It was kinda like they shredded a whole bunch of carrots and onion for other dishes, dipped them in the tempura batter and deep-fried them. Weird? Yeah. Oh, and no dipping sauce for the tempura either! And no togarashi either! Oh well... I had the Thai Tom Yum, rice noodles in spicy lemongrass soup with vegetables and shrimp. It tasted pretty good and there were lots of shrimp in there. I would order it again! Oh right, they charged me for green tea. $1.95. What?? Well, ok I guess. Maybe it's hard to find green tea there in New Mexico so they have to charge for it. The waiter was nice and friendly, and the service was fast.

So after being here in ABQ for over 2 months, I've decided to tone down my anger of food and try some of these places again with a new perspective. Asian Noodle Bar is way better now that I am not comparing it to the LA scene. But it still has some issues. I've had three different Chinese noodle dishes and 2 out of 3 were good. They seem to cater to palette sensitive cock-asians who will scream at the drop of a black pepper flake on their tongue. I've mostly completely destroyed my spicy heat sensors so I have to have it extra hot to enjoy it. If you like it hot like me, make sure to tell your waiter you want it "asian hot, not whitey hot". Then they go all out and make it so you wanna cry with every bite. The way I like it. They have special called "Spicy Noodle" which I've ordered twice. And because I'm an idiot, I keep forgetting to NOT order it. It's not spicy. It's super sweet, like if they crushed up some Coco Puffs, Lucky Charms, and Sugar then made noodles from it. It's horribly sweet. And I am not a sweet fan. Especially when the menu says "SPICY NOODLE", and I bite into "SWEET WTF NOODLE". I will say the atmosphere is awesome. And the wait-staff are very cool. There is one guy who looks like a Hawaiian/Somoan with a "WTF do you wanna eat PUNK?!", but he's really a cool guy. So don't give him grief. Just don't piss him off either. So, yeah... I recommend this place.

Teriyaki fried rice is bomb! Great pad Thai too! Some of the spicy noodle dishes really are spicy so just note. They actually serve mochi so it's pretty great but they need more flavors! Service is kind of lacking every single time though, but the good food always bring me back!

I thought the broth was more like ramen broth than pho, and they give springs of cilantro, but NO FRESH BASIL. With that said it was delicious, the beef was tender, and the meatballs were nice. The broth was uber tasty - ginger, garlic, yum. And, the waiter was super nice. And it was clean and modern inside.

  • Chanel F.

Agree with one of the previous reviews--compared to noodle places in the SF Bay Area, this place is sub par. However, in ABQ where things other than Mexican and American cuisine are hard to come by, its not that bad. I had the Pad Thai noodles. They were acceptable. I enjoyed them even. They also serve Thai Iced Tea which is da bomb and I recommend trying it if you haven't before. The interior of the restaurant has a nice layout with what I think is pretty furniture, and a bar if you don't want to sit at the table. The service was average, and though I enjoyed the food, I did feel it was a bit over priced. Nice place, but won't be rushing back to eat here anytime soon.

Strolled in from a nearby hotel and ordered the House Noodle soup. Good stuff! Huge serving and the meatballs were delicious. The waitress was very friendly and took the time to answer the questions I had.
