It does not get any better in my opinion! I grew up eating German food and this place is as good as the food I remember from my childhood. Their prices are fair and the quality of meat is great. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I once forgot my wallet there at closing time. I called them once I got home and ran right back for it. They brought my wallet to be in my car so I wouldn't have to get by toddler out of her carseat. (THANK YOU!!) They have toys for kids to play with while you wait. They also offer a bologna sample for little ones too. Surprisingly they have the BEST diaper rash ointment there too. Seriously! If you come on a weekend, be prepared to take a number and wait, but it's worth it. Try their rolls too!

I never thought I would ever find a place to get my German food except from the internet. After driving past this place for days while taking a class down the street, I finally stopped in to check it out. Where has this gem been hiding! After getting a few staples, they wrapped up my perishables and had them ready for my trip home. Gelbwrust, sauerkraut, weisswurst, knockwurst, bauernbrot, and the best bologna I have ever had. They make it all right there. Super service and a great bunch of people. Can't wait to return.

Interesting. Got some Vienna sausage/breakfast sausages (good sub Irish bangers)/and some peppered ham. I'll be back I'm sure the bacon looked yummy, as did a few of the wursts!

If you're into meat, at all, you have to swing by this place. A German couple run it and they make their own sausages and cure their own meats. They've got fresh bacon that you can have cut to whatever thickness you desire. Their imported cheeses are fantastic. It is a deli that you just never thought you'd find in Albuquerque.

Remarkable family business. I was looking for beet horseradish for a friend. Somebody suggest Alpine. I have known about them for years, but never bothered to check them out. What a treat in so many ways. They have handmade sausages, fresh roasted steamship rounds of roast beef, cheese and specialty breads. Most people think of bologna as crap to feed kids, but think again -- try Alpine's hand made bologna, and you will buy 1/2 Lb every week. Shopping here does 2 things, it gives you wholesome food the way it used to be, and it provides a living for one of the last family businesses. It actually costs less to buy REAL meats here than at the grocery store. When you hear of recalls of 2 and a half million lbs of ground beef, thats because it came through a factory that may have butchered 20 thousand steers and ground them into a mountain of ground beef -- not here! Perfect every time, and done by a craftsperson. Bravo

Ok, it's probably time I write a review about this place. Alpine Sausage Kitchen is more like Alpine Sausage Market. That's not a bad thing, I just don't want anyone getting the impression that this is a place to go eat. No, this is the place to get all of your german meat needs. They have great Bratwurst, Head Cheese, Liverwurst, etc. The people at the counter are always friendly, willing to help, and give samples if you're not sure what you want. They have lots of dry goods too (things like spaetzel and mixes for Sauerbraten). The only knock I have on this place is that their deli/meat goods aren't always labeled, which can make it a little tough to determine which "wurst" each item is. All in all a unique little place that's worth checking out either for harder to find items or just the novelty!

I love this place! Great homemade sausages, ham, bacon, and Schinken. Their products are very authentic, and tasty! The owners are always there and are very friendly.

I like this place, but I'm worried about its future. The couple that runs it is great. However, others working there aren't familiar with the products and they're inexperienced and immature. In September I came by late on a Friday afternoon and ended up walking out because the girl working was blasting the radio; obviously the owners weren't there. Today I went there and asked for a pound of expensive cheese. I noticed that the price was 30% higher than it should have been because they couldn't cut it closer? I asked about Christmas items because I was surprised they have very few yet. I specifically asked for Lebkuchen and Dominos. The guy pointed out they had had Advent calendars earlier. I'm not sure what that has to do with Lebkuchen and Dominos; I'm guessing he had no idea what I was talking about. I understand the owners need to hire others to help in the store, but they should teach them about their products and about customer service. I like the place, I always end up having to go to Cost Plus to get what I want; I wish I could just get it at this small local business.

Picked up some black pepper ham, liverwurst (the chunkier one, not the braunschweiger) a bit of head cheese, and some landjaeger. All very, very good. The ham was sliced very thin, perfectly balanced. Liverwurst is really, really good, a little chunky, but spreadable, super rich, but not fatty tasting. They also have a smooth version. The head cheese is great, excellent texture, great cuts of pork in the mix, as good as German style head cheese gets. I recommend this shop to anyone and everyone. I grew up in Wisconsin and have worked in meat departments with German butchers and this is the real deal. Their stuffed bacon is amazing as well. Next time I'll give the ring bologna and blood sausage a try. Oh, and go early for the fresh rolls!
