Loved the homemade salsa. My wife had the fajitas. Her steak was a little overcooked for her liking, but I would have it. I have seafood enchiladas. I really enjoyed them. So far, this place has the best Mexican food in town.

TACO AL HAMBRA I like the tacos the best. The skirt steak is really well flavored and the tortillas were hot. CHILI RELLENO we got both the red and green chili relleno. Both are just ok but they say the red is more spicy. I wish the chili was bigger and stuffed with something spicy and flavorful. The sauce tasted kind of can-like. Comes with beans and rice, which are good. SALSA The chips and salsa were below par. We had the salsa at Margo's so our standards are high. This salsa was too watery and weak. Needs more of a kick and flavor. HOURS They are open later than any off the other local Mexican restaurants in this area. Everything closes at 8 pm except for the chain restaurants like ihop, Denny's, chili's, and this place...which closes at 9.

We were on the hunt for a breakfast spot that might have a gluten-free option during a recent road trip and came upon Hacienda (you gotta love those corn tortillas!) Not only was the coffee good, but the breakfast plate tasty and enormous for just $6.99!! To top it off, our waitress, Sabrina, was delightfully sweet. She was the perfect field guide for our 1 day sojourn in Alamogordo and White Sands.

Great service! Good fresh salsa. The chips were a little stale. I had the three brisket tacos on the combo plate the brisket was tender and delicious the beans were ok about average and I wasn't a big fan of the rice. My husband got the steak fajitas. The steak had good flavor but the steak strips were a little small. We were hoping for some bigger chunks of steak but all around great after getting it on a taco. Also a clean restaurant.

My favorite is the carne asada, and carnitas it's always good and really tasty. The menu is large and has lots of options. Atmosphere wise, it always seems empty, which could be a good thing if you are hungery and no wanting to wait to be seated. It's connected to the Hacienda in Ruidoso, which was packed when I went so maybe it's just the location and competition in Alamo? The food is really good, parking is availible.

Food was pretty good. Their green chili is stew like. Taco came on a separate plate with some very good home made guacamole. Their salsa is different than any other Mexican restaraunt in town. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

I was recommended this place by an old coworker who happens to be a local here. I was not disappointed. The food was pretty good. The meat wasn't as bland as I have eaten at other places, and the green chili sauce had just the right amount of kick! The place isn't much to look at, but the food for the price is a good fit.

The service was lacking, the food was mediocre. There are better places to eat in the area. It was empty when we walked in, and we remained the only table the entire time. Nothing was extremely flavorful, it was just sort of there.

I wasn't overly impressed by their food. Just average in my opinion. I had the taco plate and every single taco fell apart after just one bite and was a huge mess. The rice was nice and fluffy, but blander than most rice I've had. Their menu has a decent selection and my husband really enjoyed his super burrito. The green chile sauce it was smothered in had quite the kick to it.

I like this place. It's pretty decent food and the prices are not too bad. For two people we usually spend around $20 not including tip. Definitely try their Tres Leche for dessert. My only complaint is they NEVER have horcata. The waitress even advised me to come on Tuesdays because that's when they have it. Rolled in there like suggested only to be told they didn't have any. Daaaaang!

OK, but used to be very good 6-7 years ago. Someone told me that Eddie of Eddies Burrito's owned it then. Go there instead...

This was one of the first places my husband and I tried when we first moved here 2 years ago. After that experience I can't believe they're still in business! The service was lousy. The food was just awful. A table beside us left after taking only a bite. Our queso was ball-game nacho sauce with diced jalapenos. We have never been back although we're curious as to the cars out front on the weekends. Did they change something radically?? Or are the other food options here really that bad?

The front desk person at our hotel recommended this place for a good authentic Mexican breakfast. None of us liked our food. We couldn't understand why anyone would recommend this place. It doesn't seem like we're the only ones either, that had sub-par food.

I have only had the chance to visit one time, and was on the day I arrived in town. I had the chicken burrito that was stuffed with a great white cheese (might have been goat but not sure) and smoothered in Avacado. it was fantastic. Inside is a little generic and basic, with almost a cafeteria feel to it. But, they make up in the food. Service was nice and the prices were average. I enjoyed my visit, and planning on taking the family there when I get the chance.

Not sure what's gone wrong here. Food and service have become rather meh, sorry to say. Wait time long, the food just doesn't taste very good. Used to come here alot, now we go to Margos... which costs just a little more but is much better and more consistent.

My wife was craving a Margarita, so we stopped in here. Pretty big inside, but that day it was fairly empty. The waitress, a young girl, seated us. My wife ordered a strawberry margarita. It tasted like strawberry lemonade. Where was the alcohol?!?! Apparently the margarita machine was having issues. She gave us another one free of charge, but our impression was already made. Glad we didn't order food here!

    1. Watered down margaritas (and they're from a mix). Why? Well, they don't have a full liquor license- they have to serve wine margaritas. 2. Red chile is good. Overall, pretty good food. Friendly staff.

I've heard bad rumors about the state of the kitchen by previous staff members, though if they are true or not that is up to you to figure out. I personally no longer eat here. The food can be tasty.

We needed something quick for breakfast, but the couple that came in way after us got their food before we even got to order. The only reason we got our menus was because had to ask for them. The older lady (maybe the owner?) was really nice but her workers need to be more attentive... If it wasn't for them this place definitely would have gotten a better review.

One of our favorite stops in Alamogordo. We have been many times and always consistently good. Great fajita burritos! Yummy fresh Iced Tea.

Love this place! Inexpensive, authentic Mexican food. Service is variable but always friendly, food is always good. I almost always take home leftovers. Very casual and relaxed...definitely a great place to go when you are in town!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
