I came here to grab a bite with my boyfriend after a friends birthday. The service was exceptional, we sat outside because the weather was nice. It's byob so we brought our own bottle of wine. Our food came out fairly quickly, the presentation of it was nice. I got the catfish but substituted the rice with spinach which was very good. The catfish was crispy on the top and cooked perfectly in the middle. My boyfriend got the pork which was also very tasty. Of course I cleaned my plate unlike my boyfriend- making me look like a fatty but it's okay because the food was delicious. I will definitely be returning to try someone else on the menu. I did not give it 5 stars because the music that was playing when we were sitting outside was strange. It was like elevator music, they definitely need to switch up the music.

The service is always friendly and professional. The food is hit or miss. Some days it's wonderful and other days it's lacking. This review is about the atmosphere. The space is in need of an immediate upgrade. I dined here for lunch with a friend and we both were taken aback by the dirt on the carpet. No one else had been there before us - this was 12noon. There's no excuse for filth on the floor! The carpet should go, the tables should be replaced and the peeling paint repaired. It all makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen.

My girlfriend and I were planning to meet for lunch and because she lives up North and I'm more in Central Jersey, we planned to meet at a median point so we decided on Westfield. Neither of us were in the mood for any cuisine in particular, but I searched if there were any deals for any restaurants in the area and stumbled upon a Groupon for Mojave Grill. It was a Saturday during the winter so there was still lots of snow on the ground so it was a little more difficult finding parking. We both ended up parking by the Trader Joe's, which Mojave Grill isn't too far from. It was about 12-1 PM when we arrived and there was only one other party here. We were seated by the front-windows, where there was a draft but bearable. The paint on the walls over by where we were seated was chipping and the tables weren't in good condition - they had a lot of scratches on them. Also I'm not sure if a party with a toddler or baby just left, but there were what appeared to be tortilla chip crumbs all over the floor by us, needless to say we had many eye sores during our meal. Our waiter was really nice though and along with the busboys, they were also attentive. The food was really good. My girlfriend and I shared the Tuna Ceviche for starters which was really fresh and had lots of bright flavors. We both had the Lime Braised Pork for our entrees, which was equally delicious. The pork and rice came out in what looked to be a little tower, the rice at the bottom, next was the pork, and finally on the top were minced veggies like tomatoes and onions. The pork was so tender and juicy. This dish also came with a side of sweet plantains (maduros), avocado, and some flatbread. DELICIOUS! The dish was so filling that I had left-overs to take home. The place itself could use some touch-up work in maintaining it's location, however the service and food were fantastic! Also loved the fact that they had a Groupon!

Love it here. I've been here a few times and non of the times disappointed. Service is great and food tastes fresh. Their food is on the heavier side so I never finish and always have some to take home :) BYOB!

I was a BIG fan of Mojave Grille. I have passed it so many times being that I work in Westfield, but have never been able to make the time to go. I went with coworkers one night in between work and our night program. I believe that Mojave is a sister restaurant to Theresa's? Well, I was definitely satisfied. The inside is festive with contemporary southwestern flair. *BYOB* I ordered the Chicken Tacos served in flour tortillas. Big portions which is nice! The dish was served with rice and beans on the side, also a big portion. The chicken was moist and veggies were sauteed perfectly. I was super happy and impressed that the dish seemed way healthier than most Mexican/tex-mex restaurants. It wasn't smothered in sauce, but instead marinated perfectly. No need for the extra high calorie sauce with such great flavor. Side of guacamole was the perfect touch. I was SO tempted to try the desserts but with the three healthy size tacos I couldn't fit it. Maybe next time!

My boyfriend and I headed to Mojave Grille for date night on a Friday night around 8. We had a Groupon worth $50 that was about to expire and headed over to Westfield to use it. We started with an appetizer that was on special- the Yucca fries with cojita cheese and chipotle aioli. It was my boyfriend's first time trying Yucca and he loved it. It was perfectly crispy and the aioli was great. As entrees, my boyfriend had the fettucine, which he described as "amazing." I had the chicken tacos which were very fresh and came with a big helping of rice and black beans. The food, atmosphere and service were all top notch. However, I found that the prices were a bit steep, so the Groupon definitely helped. I wouldn't mind going back for a special occasion when I want to splurge.

I have dined here on numerous occasions. Everything ranging from lunch meeting to a special dinner occasion. The place is small, quaint and features a rustic feel. I don't know how else to describe the food here other than excellent. There are enough options on the menu but not too many to overwhelm you. One of the things that I definitely can't stand is too many menu options. Stop by here for lunch or dinner. I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Everything we ordered were so good. Lobster tacos, skirt steak, calamari. BYOB, nice atmosphere. 5 stars.

Food was delicious, the service with my waitress was Excellent, however this guy that works here and is a manager on Sundays , as I was told , made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. .. that would be my only reason for not giving this place 4 stars ....

Missing a bit of the west coast while we were in Jersey, my fiancé and I stopped by Mojave Grill. We loved the place for it's outdoor seating and amazing food. The only disappointment was the salmon was undercooked that the waitress removed from our check. We wished she came by earlier to see how we were doing instead of at the end. Let's talk food! We ordered the Pear Salad with Salmon and the Fettuccine. The except for the undercooked salmon, the salad was exceptional. I loved the crusted pecans! The Fettuccine was cooked with this amazing sauce and the added chicken and shrimp was the perfect protein. Overall the meal was delicious and a must visit!

Fathers day, pork belly tacos. Disliked the coleslaw ontop, a bit overwhelming but ultimately good and cleaned my dish. Great service during fathers day brunch. Second review, server was polite and up beat, blonde haired women who was very attentive to be there since they were close to closing. BYOB, grab some wine or beer across the street. Second outing had pulled pork ontop of rice, a small amount of beans, onions, peppers, side of roll ups, and topped with fresh cut limes. Delicious. If I could do it again, I am not a huge fan of beans or peppers so I may of gone without those, but that's my taste. Other than that, the pulled pork was cooked to perfection. Juicy as it should be with no sauce to mask any type of misflavoring. My girlfriend got the cat fish, check the pics, you will see our 2 dishes in the pictures. She subbed out rice for spinach which was no problem and they all made it work well. Came out quick too. Will be going back for sure. Great place.

The lobster tacos were mediocre. Bits of lobster meat buried under too many other flavors in a cold tortilla. The limp fries that came with the tacos were stone cold. The meal took over 20 minutes after the appetizer was cleared. We used a Groupon and probably won't be back unless we get another discount. On a high note the calamari was nicely fried and the pepper sauce was not too hot.

really great mexican spot in westfield - love the outdoor dining option! BYOB, which i wish i knew before i went there but it's okay, there is a liquor store nearby. really good chicken quesadillas and the fish tacos are DELISH. i'd definitely come here again

I had lunch with my mom at Mojave Grille yesterday. Everything we ordered was excellent, starting with appetizers, crab cakes and calamari. Delicious! I would get both of those again! For my entree, I had the special taco of the day (chicken) and was very very pleased. For only $8, you get a nice bowl of salad greens and a bowl of rice and beans. The two chicken tacos were very tasty and loaded with chicken, beans, etc. We ordered the pork lime entree, but never had room to eat it. We wrapped that up to go. That's how full we were from the apps and tacos. And the beverages we had were very tasty...ginger peach tea. I would highly recommend going for lunch or dinner. I've eaten here many years ago for lunch and dinner and also remember loving what everything I ordered. Can't go wrong with Mojave Grill.

The bad.... the food had no "wow" factor to it. Aside from the citrus mojo (sauce)(which was excellent ) everything was blah. We had the enchilada which was VERY dry and the mixed plate of meat (small piece of skirt steak, 1 sausage, 3 small ribs, rice/beans, 3 pieces of maduros) none of which had any real flavor and was over priced for the smaller sized portions served. The good... the waitress was super friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was nice. But without good food I would not return again.

enjoyed our food. i had the lobster tacos and my spouse had a pork dish. very good. why not 5 stars? i am not really sure but there just seemed to be something intangible missing. the service was fine and the decor and atmosphere was fine too. we would go again but it's just not our "go to" place.

Extremely sad about this place. Something must have changed. I have been here twice- the first time a couple of years ago and the second more recently. A couple of years ago I remember being extremely satisfied with my meal however this time I can easily say I will not be returning. I asked the waitress what she would recommend. She said the like pulled pork is ordered often and very tasty. I went with her suggestion and ordered it. When it came out it ended up being drier than a week old loaf of bread. Maybe it was because we came later in the evening but really no amount of chewing could make this go down easy. It was the kind of dry meat that hurt the roof of your mouth. My date was in disbelief that I wasn't eating since I am the kind of person who is hungry every two hours but after he tried it he offered up his meal. Sad. Will not be returning.

Nice sized menu with tasty choices. Although it's slightly expensive for what you get if you ask me and the complimentary corn bread is garbage.

Food was very flavorful and nicely presented. I got the caesar salad and the pork entree. My friend got a soup and the shrimp tamale. Flourless cake dessert was great too. They have cornbread for the table and it's BYO. You can call ahead 45 minutes prior, but we still waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Main disappointment was the service. Waiter was attentive in the beginning, but then came over twice throughout the evening. Other staff was great for food delivery. I had to ask for a refill of water from the waiter when he brought the dessert menu. We sat there about 20 minutes when done with our meal. Didn't bring us forks for our dessert for my friends birthday, but they stuck a candle in it, so that was nice. I'd go back and hope for a better waiter.

Stopped here for lunch and had an amazing Caesar salad with blackened shrimp. The complimentary cornbread was moist but could've been a bit more seasoned. I would've gave them five stars but friendly service was slow. Will definitely try this spot again.

We went to mojave grill with a groupon we purchased online. When we sat down, it took us over 20 minutes for someone to even greet us as our table. I was furious. I told the hostest twice and the waitresses that kept walking by us and not even noticing. I ordered the lime braised pork which was good but nothing amazing. The best part about my meal was the corn bread which was free! I would probably go back but really hope for better service next time!

Went there last night with the hubby and loved it! The place was pretty packed (expected for a Friday night) but we got lucky and were seated immediately. They start off by giving you corn bread. It was ok nothing too memorable. We got the guacamole and salsa to start. Both were really tasty. I ordered the skirt steak and my husband ordered the chicken enchiladas. My steak was AMAZING! Perfectly grilled! My meal also included matchstick fries and sautéed spinach. Both were really tasty. My husbands enchilada was also really flavorful. Overall definitely a place I'll be going to again!

After reading reviews I was looking forward to dinner with a friend at Mojave Grille. I have to admit I was underwhelmed. I tried calling at noon for a 8:00pm reservation, although I was informed their policy is to call 45 minutes before the reservation time. The restaurant was well lit and had a nice ambiance. As many reviews mentioned we started with corn bread and butter. I thought the cornbread was very dry and lacking flavor. The menu selection looked great- there was a large variety and I was looking forward to trying the Shrimp and Sweet Corn Tamale. When the plate arrived the presentation was a mess. I hope the restaurant works on the presentation of this dish. While the plate looked quite full, I was disappointed to find 5 medium sized shrimp and what tasted like frozen corn in the tamale. For $20+ for an entree, I'd expect more than 5 shrimp and frozen corn. The dish was too salty for my liking and I felt that the ratios were off. The sauce was overpowering and I could barely taste the shrimp and tamale. Don't get this dish! Dessert redeemed my experience with the restaurant. While a bit pricy at about $7, I tried the banana bread pudding with ice cream. The dessert was very tasty. The service was average, but I felt very rushed. While the server gave us the check, she pretty much asked us to pay so she can close out the computer, but it was still okay for us to sit and chat. Either way, I still felt very rushed. Overall I had a decent experience but I probably wouldn't come back.

I had the chicken enchiladas - very good but make sure you like mole sauce- some people at my table didn't.. My wife had the veggie tostada which was pretty good but the red sauce under it was too sweet. Service was a bit slow. Decent overall but not the best..

I just moved to Westfield and my boyfriend and we were craving Mexican. We fell into Mojave and sat outside on a gorgeous September night. I really liked the menu. It has a text-mex feel but not in an overwhelming way. We ordered the gauc, salsa and chips to start which were a great portion and enough for 4 people. I ordered the chicken fajitas and he ordered the chicken enchiladas. Both were tasty and enough for leftovers the next day. It was fun bringing your own liquor and certainly kept the prices down since the entrees were $20 each. The service rushed us a bit but overall it was a nice dinner. I would definitely go back.

Went here for dinner last night and it was AMAZING! They give you this warm cornbread to start which had me totally drooling on myself. For an app we ordered the empanada. It was just 1 which I was a little disappointed about, so we just cut it in half and shared. The flavor on it though, was nothing short of spectacular. Our entrees were the mixed grille which was a medley of perfectly cooked and delightfully tender meats on a bed of rice and fried plantains. Our second entree was a chimichanga on a bed of red rice and black beans. It was filled with blackened chicken and huge. Great portion and it tasted great! I would definitely go back again! Our server was great too. Very attentive and sweet.

I want to like this place so much more than I actually do. My husband and I have been to Mojave Grill a handful of times when I have purchased deals online. If it wasn't for Groupon or LivingSocial, I probably would have been disappointed. The positives: I love that it is a BYOB and the ambiance is great for either a date night or a get together with friends or family. The staff has always been super friendly and attentive. They do call ahead seating, which is great on a Saturday night. Still, the food has generally left me underwhelmed. I've tried the enchiladas, empanada appetizer and calamari. Each dish was ok but not worth the full menu price, in my opinion. The cornbread they serve before dinner is dry and nothing to write home about. I will say the presentation of the food is always awesome! I went again last week (thank you LivingSocial!) and had the chimichanga. It was probably the best item I have ordered thusfar. My husband ordered the short ribs and said they were pretty decent. We ordered guacamole as an appetizer and it seemed a bit bland for my taste. I wouldn't say write Mojave Grill off but I would wait for some sort of deal on Groupon or LivingSocial before trying it out for the first time. It's seemed hit or miss to me.

I live right near this place and have never been until last week for lunch. They bring out delicious (a little spicy) cornbread and butter. I had a wonderful salad with mango, jicama, organic greens, and goat cheese with a delicious dressing. It was a little expensive for the serving size but I really enjoyed it and it was filling enough. My friend got the crabcake with black bean mango salsa and sweet potato fries and she said it was really good. I tried the fries and they were very good. We were happy with the friendly and quick service. The decor and interior of the restaurant was outdated (really the carpeting bothered me) but I didn't mind so much for a casual lunch.

Loved this place. Tried it last night with my dad for a casual midweek dinner. at about 6pm on a Tuesday, we were the only people there until later in our meal. We were immediately greeted and our drink orders taken. Arnold Palmer was delicious (I guess it would be hard to mess that one up). Within 2-3 minutes a basket of hot cornbread squares came. These were nice and soft, but lacked a ton of flavor. I love cornbread though, so even this didnt really bother me since you could tell they were fresh. For apps we ordered the chips with guac and salsa, and yucca fries with chipotle aioli and cotija cheese. These both came super quick, which I appreciated because honestly, why wouldnt they? They literally had no one else to serve at that time. Yucca fries were hot and crunchy, and the aioli was perfect. I was very pleasantly surprised by the salsa and guac. Being new to the area, and loving Mexican/Tex-Mex fare, I had been a little disappointed in the first two places I tried, one also in Westfield which is a new, casual eatery and another in Garwood which is more of a "pick up and take home" place. I wont name either of them, but both had very subpar salsa and guac, and overall left a lot to be desired. But Mojave's guac was not only very good, but they gave us a TON of it. Like, 6-7 ice cream scoops. There was so much, and our entrees came out so quick, that I actually had the salsa and guac wrapped up so I could enjoy later on (which I did). Speaking of the salsa, that too was very flavorful, not bland at all, and rated about a 'medium' on the spicy scale. For entrees I had the Mixed Grille - which came with 3 baby back ribs with a peanut mole sauce, a small portion of skirt steak, 2 chicken sausages, one large pork sausage, a sizable serving of plantains, over a bed of rice, black beans, and cotija cheese. This was a big portion overall, and everything was well cooked with tons of flavor. My dad had the lime braised pork with plantains over rice and black beans, and he enjoyed it. Also of note, was the presentation. Being a foodie and a fan of cooking shows, I am always impressed when I see a dish plated in an aesthetically pleasing way. You dont typically expect that from a casual Mexican restaurant, but our entrees were definitely plated with care. We finished with a slice of flourless chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream - basic, but well done. Prices were consistent with what you would expect in Westfield. Will definitely be going back.

Went here for date night this past Saturday evening with my boyfriend. Ordered the garlic shrimp for an appetizer which was delicious. Then had the southwestern chicken picatta. Sounded amazing, but it was just okay. The flavors and the sides and rice were great, however, the chicken was very chewy, gamey and soggy. Had the chicken been grilled, I think this dish would be perfect! But it was clearly steamed and left in it's liquids for too long. Ended the meal on a high note though- the flourless chocolate cake is the BEST I've ever had (or made) I would go back, but just won't order the chicken. My boyfriend loved his skirt steak, so that may be my next dish.

Saturday night used their "call ahead seating" and was told it was a 20-min wait. Once we got there it was over an hour wait. So do not trust their wait time estimates. Very noisy, I could not hear the person across the table from me without yelling and leaning forward. The food was okay but nothing special and the service once we were seated was excellent.

We went here for what should have been a nice Saturday night date night. We had reservations at 7:30pm and were not seated until 8:15pm. Not once did the hostess check on us to give us an eta. Once we were seated, we ordered a DELICIOUS guacamole and chips appetizer (highly recommended) and our main entrées. We enjoyed our app. for about 5 minutes ( not exaggerating) before our meals came. We then enjoyed our delicious Meal but before we were even half way through we're asked if we wanted our food wrapped up. That was frustrating to say the least, especially after our long wait! Great food, great ambiance and atmosphere. Awful service! We will not be back.

This place has been fantastic every time I have eaten here....Recently went here for a birthday lunch and had the ceviche appetizer and soft taco entree. Even the staple black beans and rice that accompanied the tacos were delicious. They also have a help yourself hot sauce selection...Awesome! Highly recommended if you enjoy fresh, well prepared southwestern food. Don't forget to BYOB.

I had dinner last Sunday with a party of 12 and this visit marked my second time to Mojave Grill. I must say this visit was a impressive on many fronts and I'll be back soon. Our waitress was extremely informative and friendly. Her recommendations on the house specialties were spot on. Mojave is BYOB which is always a major plus. I have the Lime Pork dish and my wife had the skirt steak. We both loved our meals and marveled at the portion size. The pork was nice and crispy and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. There are a lot of choices in downtown Westfield but I think Mojave Grill has an extremely interesting menu and they pull it off wonderfully. I don't think anyone in our large party had a bad thing to say.

Delicious, mexican soul food! Great Service! And won't break the bank. Crazy delicious bread pudding! The only thing I would improve is the room temperature because my family and I generally have to keep our coats on in the winter.

My Friend Kim and I thought a nice Sunday lunch/brunch would be just the thing today~ We were both in grand moods and love to enjoy some great food...or even some "ok" food as it was.... but this is really a review on service. Our server was Rebecca, nice enough to start (and never NOT nice I might add.) I wasn't asked if I preferred cream or milk with coffee and was given milk...which ruined my cup~so asked another nice enough server to let Rebecca know I would like a fresh cup with cream. Which the other server brought. Then upon ordering my brunch special frittata I asked if I could have egg beaters or at the least egg whites only. Rebecca's response was "is that when they only use part of the egg?...No... we don't do that, because we just don't...and no, we don't have egg beaters" I thought that seemed slightly suspicious but let it go and just ordered the Frittata. Edna the runner brought us our food. When Kim saw her garlic shrimp in a nice plentiful broth she asked Edna if there was any other bread (besides the cornbread served upon arrival) that she could get for dipping. Edna politely said she wasn't sure but would go check for us. Meanwhile Rebecca arrives a few minutes later to ask us how our food is?~ still no word from Edna, so Kim then asks Rebecca if she can please get some plain bread other than cornbread for dipping? Rebecca starts to turn towards the kitchen then turns back to inform us that there is NO other bread but cornbread (REALLY?!...what about the sandwiches on the menu?...or the wraps??...everything is served on cornbread...hmmmm!?) Rebecca made this statement then turned and walked away...passing lovely Edna carrying a plate of sliced white bread to our table. No acknowledgement or apologies for her blase attitude...indifference would be polite...she really just didn't care and it seemed to much effort to walk to the kitchen and ask for things...I suspect if I had asked Edna I would've had my egg white Frittata as well, btw!! The Key Lime pie was great and as always Kim and I had a lovely time despite Rebecca...or maybe even because of her...made for an interesting conversation!

3 words: Go To Tinga. What a waste of money. Not taking anything away from the taste of the food, as it was very good, but for 1/3 the price, you can have the same meal at Tinga (except for the Skirt Steak and Pork Chops). Okay granted, for the ambiance Mojave also better. If you have kids, go to Tinga. If your only eating the Tacos, go to Tinga.

Unfortunately I have nothing nice to say about this place. I do enjoy the sister restaurants but this one is terrible. My meal started out by being seated under an ac vent that probably hadn't been cleaned since 1998. I could only imagine what kind of dust was blowing around the room or in the food. Clean your vents! The dust was caked on it was horrible. The place needs some cosmetic touch ups like fresh paint and general maintenance. It's hard to enjoy a meal with these distractions. You eat with your eyes and ambiance is everything. The service was above average and the food was ok. Nothing horrible just nothing memorable. I can't see myself ever going back there are too many other options in town. This place needs to clean up their act. I honestly felt gross when I left from the atmosphere.

Horrible, horrible customer service! Made "reservations" and when we arrived they told us it would be a 1/2 hour wait. We spoke to the manager about the fact that we were not told that they didn't take reservations (even though they did) and after telling him that I was not feeling well because of knee surgery, the manager told us that, "if I wasn't feeling well then maybe I shouldn't have come out." Needless to say this place needs new management and customer service training.

I just came from Mojave, my third experience overall. The first two times were for dinner which left a lot to be desired. Due to an overwhelming desire for black bean soup, I decided to give this restaurant one more try, this time for lunch. It is my third and final. First of all, the restaurant was freezing. I was one of 4 people dining with their winter coat on. The black bean soup was bland and certainly did not scratch the itch. I also had the peanut BBQ pulled chicken sandwich. There was quite a bit of fat and cartilage, so sadly I ate less than half. Not something you'd expect considering it was pulled.... yuk yuk yuk. My hubby had the shrimp ceasar salad and had no complaints, so a success there. The service wasn't great. There was a table for 6 available, but b/c we were two, they wouldn't seat us. We opted to wait and as a result watched another couple come in and complain louder than us about not being able to sit at the 6 top. They got the table!! All the hostess had to say was "I don't know, speak to my manager." Again, I gave this place 3 tries and had complaints each time. Enough is enough. Look elsewhere.

To arms, comrades! To arms we vault, day in and day out, for the glory of our Motherland against the encroaching menace of generic Tex-mex! Every day a blow is struck against the fascist hordes of Burrito Combo #2, a blow is struck for the people! Here, Mojave Grille stands an exemplar! Here it stands forth as a rally point, as our option for Southwestern style food that is not only worth your time, it is worth your money! Part of lovely downtown Westfield, Mojave Grille is smack next to Swirl Whirl Yogurt Buffet and steps away from Chocolate Bar, where you can get the best damn gelato around. But you're not here for tourism - you're here for the food. I want to say that I really, really like Mojave Grille - it's a darn good restaurant experience. You don't have to gussy up to the nines, and you can show up in shorts and a polo shirt if you so desire and not feel out of place. Inside it's low light and dark brown wood, nicely appointed, and outside it's a wonderful place to have a meal in the evening as you watch the people and traffic go by. The menu is inventive and fun. What you see isn't the usual tacos, burritos, quesadillas crap - it's a good selection of Southwestern-styled dishes with the right ingredients to round it out. Some dishes are just a tang of Southwest - example, we shared the grilled watermelon salad with feta, jicama, and tequila-mint vinagrette. It's about as Southwestern as a po'boy taco with French fries but damn, was it fresh and tasty. The vinagrette wasn't too oily and was really flavorful. The feta was just enough. The watermelon was indeed grilled, which mellowed out the sweetness and gave it a nice warm counterpoint to the rest of the salad. My wife had the blackened catfish and I had the lime-braised pork. She found the catfish a bit too spicy-hot, and even though I have a grossly inflated spice tolerance level, I thought it was a bit too burny for catfish. The fish itself was perfectly done, though, moist and juicy. Her mango black bean salsa was a leap forward to cool the dish down. The pork, though? Star of the show. The chef loves his big ring-molds, and they are used with gusto on the pork. A layer of decent rice, black beans, the pork in question, and a topping of fresh pico de gallo with drizzles of sweet and sharp sauces on the edges, a couple of tortillas to load up, and some pan-fried sweet plantains. Not gonna lie, this is basically pork carnitas elevated, but a darn good job of it. I had to force myself to stop eating so this gloriously flavorful dish, still redolent with tangy limeness to it and moist as anything, would make for lunch and my stomach would have room for gelato afterwards. The place is BYO, which is wonderful, but they have their own private-label sodas as well as decent-looking desserts. One star is off because the prices are a bit on the high side, but it should not be a deterrent. This is not super-authentic Mexican, but it is not intended to be such - nor is it intended to be El Mexicano Loco where you get generic burritos. You won't find mole poblano here but you'll find an inventive, fresh take on Southwestern and Mexican food in a wonderful setting. This is not going to be my last visit to Mojave Grille. Tables for two don't get conventional reservations, instead call ahead within 45 minutes and they'll prioritize you over any walk-ins, or just seat you right away. There was no wait to be seated outside for us, but that might be tough for you in the winter.

As business dwindles due to the constricting economy, restaurants are feeling the pinch, like everyone else. The menu here is still inventive, but shortcuts must be taken in the kitchen and/or prices raised. The lime caesar salad ($8.95), which used to be a lively dish, now tastes like something made at home in two minutes with pre-bagged romaine lettuce and stale-tasting croutons out of a box. Two entrées, five-spice-crusted salmon over jicama salad, and braised beef short rib over sautéed spinach were still flavorful, properly cooked, and nicely plated, but portion sizes seem to have shrunk a bit. Two salads, two entrées, and one cup of tea totaled $85, including tax and tip. I hardly go out to dinner anymore, and this is why.

Overall great food! The fact delivery is an option is even better. We highly recommend this place!

Went with a girlfriend for an early lunch and everything was great! We started with the guacamole, she has the fish tacos and I had the crab cake. Everything tasted very fresh and the sides were just as good as the main entrees! We will def go back!

Best of the Best in Westfield I had read the raving reviews about this restaurant for quite a while, and finally, we decided to go on a free Saturday night. The place definitely lived up to its reputation! We called ahead 45 minutes before we arrived, and they took us to our table the minute we entered. The greeter, servers, even the water pourers had a permanent smile on their face. Lani, our server, was lovely and pleasant. She suggested many appetizing dishes, but I really wanted to try the "lime braised pork" I had read about. The three appetizers we ordered were terrific. Mussels w/ gorgonzola and chorizo were super, but the crispy calamari with chipotle was exceptional. Everyone lit up when they had a taste of the calamari. The mole' baby back ribs were amazing also. For the entre, here is the rundown. The southwestern marinated flank steak was great. The braised short ribs were great, and the steak taco's were great. But the lime braised pork was amazing! Not only is the presentation on the plate fantastic, but the taste is fusion and a terrific combination. The chef created some really top level dishes. For desert, we had the chocolate lava cake and a nacho specialty. They were very good, but after the fantastic meal, it was hard to top. The nachos are very unusual, though. Sweet, with a sauce drizzled over them. All in all, one great dish after another. We just couldn't stop raving about the meal, and I am a tough reviewer. This is a must for anyone in the area. Hints to my followers: Call ahead for a table 45 minutes before arriving. At 10 pm, there was still a line trying to get a table that night. BYOB, so bring a nice wine to go with southwestern fare. Bring your appetite, because most of the dishes are quite large. Not a child friendly restaurant. The tables are close together, and the place gets a bit loud. So, this is a couples or friends out restaurant. Try something new. Don't stick with the old standards. You won't be disappointed!

I came here last week and I have mixed feelings about the food. The service was fantastic though. We had ceviche appetizer which was really good and then I had the lobster tacos. Nice portions and I was really excited for them but it was just missing something. Spice? Lettuce? I don't know. Then my husband and I split the bread pudding. I'm not sure if it was bread pudding or a large muffin that was warmed up. I would give it another try though.

Lunch service is not too friendly. Polite but a smile wouldn't hurt anyone.

I was very excited for a friend's birthday dinner after I reviewed the menu online, but the experience did not live up to my expectations. Tex-Mex without guacamole....is not Tex-Mex. I always enjoy BYOB places, so that was a plus but they ran out of avocados and plantains; both things I wanted to order. And when we were not ready to put in our order because of the 86 list; the waiter just walked away. Didn't offer any suggestions, just left! The menu is innovative and different. It wasn't the standard Burritos and Tacos. I had Short Ribs with sautéed spinach and cilantro mashed potatoes, that were not the warmest and didn't have as much flavor as I thought they would. I also tried the Lime Pork which sounded very good, but was very crispy. The appetizers were better then the meals. We had the chorizo and chicken empanadas, the baby back ribs and shrimp quesadillas; which were my favorite. They were very tasty. Lastly we had banana carmel bread pudding; this sounded like it was going to be amazing as it is all my favorites in 1 dessert; but it came out in a muffin shape and the consistency of a muffin; not what you would except for bread pudding. All in all, the service was not not impressive, but the portions sizes are large, and my meal and what I tried of my friends were ok, but not as spectacular as I was hoping for.

I stopped at this place b/c I wasn't in the mood for Italian food which is every other restaurant in NJ. The design of the inside is nice but with all hard materials it can get quite noisy inside. I was sitting next to a table of cackling hyenas, I mean a bunch of annoying ladies going out. I am all for fun but wow was their cackling extra loud. About the place, we were seated promptly, service was courteous. We ordered the lime pork entree with rice and sweet plantains and blackened chicken wrap with salad. As for the food all the food was plated quite well, the food was actually pretty good. Both of the dishes had good flavor and were fresh tasting. So far so good, I would definitely go back, and its nice that its BYOB.

Stopped in for dinner tonight. I had the fajitas and they were excellent. My boyfriend had the house made fettuccine which was also great. The service was nice. It was a nice quiet atmosphere. Nice place for a date. We were a little too stuffed for dessert will try next time though!

BYOB without a corking fee was nice. The food was good. I really enjoyed the ribs with mole sauce. Calamari salad was good too but not as lovely as the fish. Mostly, it was a very nice atmosphere with such a variety of customers. The waitress was very friendly without being intrusive. She kept my water filled and she checked up on us three times. She also happily put our rib bones into a nice package so our dog can enjoy our dinner as much as we did. The environs was really nice and I had a nice time.

We really like this place. The food is great and the servers are friendly. It's BYO and they will open your bottle for you to enjoy at the small bar area if there is a wait. I had the tilapia special and it was perfect. MR had the blackened catfish and he raved how good it was. We don't have any complaints!

Im a fan. I ate here for the first time yesterday; we ordered the calamari appetizer, the salmon special and tacos. For dessert, we ordered the peach/pecan over ice cream. Overall, I was very pleased. I gave 4/5 stars because the cornbread was not fresh and the dessert, which was good, could have been better. I would definitely go back, the menu was full of inventive dishes that we want to try.

We went here randomly from a recommendation from our car GPS (Zagat Reviews). We fortunately got a table as we were there relatively early for a Saturday evening (6:30 PM). The food was really good and the service was good as well. The fries are awesome, we couldn't get enough of them. My suggestion is to get there early or have a reservation. With the parking situation in Westfield, allow yourself some time to find parking and a walk to this place.

Had a good meal here. Sat outside but the inside looked very nice too. I always like BYOB places and there is a nice place to get alcohol across the street. Great service too.

My husband and I have been here twice and always love our entrees! I am a huge fan of the tuna which is tangy and delicious and my husband loves the braised pork. The corn bread is a little dry for my taste but I guess that is what the butter is for. The empanada appetizers were very good as well. All in all we continue wanting to go back which must mean it is good - plus BYOB which makes it even better!

Very cool ambiance...no trouble getting seated even on Black Friday! Woo hoo! Waitress was super efficient and food came out quickly but not in a rushed way. Everything was extremely flavorful from the black bean soup to the Salmon. It is BYO but there's a liquor store right across the street and a great Wine shop a couple blocks away.

We've been here multiple times, usually when Theresa's is full and we want to sit outdoors. All of the salads are very good as long as they're not overdressed. My favorites are the blackened shrimp quesadilla and the chicken and potato rolled tacos. My kids LOVE the root beer float and their super-super-skinny fries.

Mojave Grill is one of the first restaurants my husband and I ate at when we moved to Westfield....and we have been coming back since for more! They provide a unique mix of Tex Mex/Americanized items that are sure to entice you. I reccomend the lime braised pork and buttermilk battered chicken. Mojave is also BYOB, which is perfection!

I was very dissapointed. Wanted to try this for awhile and picked up the living social deal. Went with a group of 4. After the living social deal was still over $100 with no alcohol. Food unfortunatley was a small step above a chevy's. I had a chipolte pork combo thing and a duck quesidilla. The best part of the dish was the sauce. The pork was dry and tough. I would have given this place three stars if the prices were cut in half but I just can't justify more. The service also was very spotty. Our waitress disappeared after taking our order and we never saw her until the bill was ready.

We enjoyed the food - I had Catfish with mango salsa. He had Chicken and potato tacos. I felt the portions were small for the price. Catfish is not an expensive fish but the portion was 4-5 oz. It was presented nicely with mashed potatoes and mango/ black bean salsa and very tasty but for a $20 entree they really skimped on the portion. We didn't order appetizers or dessert and left hungry. The tacos were reportedly really good also. our table for 2 was right next to the hallway leading to the kitchen which was a little distracting I just don't think this place gives a good value for the money.

My fiancee and I headed here with mixed feelings after reading mixed reviews. Unfortunately the Neigh's have it. We both had the infused ice tea which was undrinkable. My fiancee had the tuna ceviche, which was good but nothing outstanding and he had their version of a ceaser salad. Although the vegetables were fresh, there was nothing creative or flavorful in the dressing. I had the chicken fajitas. They were already put together. The chicken had no flavor and the cheese was odd tasting. For the price, I would have rather eaten at Chipolte.

I just went here for the first time with 5 girlfriends. I wasn't sure how it would be for a girls dinner out, but it was fantastic. Delicious food, great service and a fun atmosphere. I would highly recommend this as a great downtown Westfield restaurant - it might even be the one with the best food in my opinion! I will definitely be coming back!

Formal service and presentation with relaxed attire and decent food. A solid attempt at "a nice place" for a suburb but a far cry from the city's talents. Deserts are not noteworthy.

This was once my favorite go to restaurant in the area. Unfortunately, I don't go there anymore. I used to eat here 3-4 times a month and would bring guests with me many occasions. I think the quality of food has consistently gone downhill. I also had the unfortunate experience of being turned away recently. I came with my two children and another couple with their two children on a Saturday night around 6pm. The place was half empty. I asked to be seated and they told me they did not have a table large enough to accommodate 8 guests. I saw that there were about 6 tables left in the restaurant that seat 4 people each. I stated ; "That's fine, can we get two tables of 4 close to each other and seat the kids at one of the tables?" The hostess quickly shot down the request stating "I'm sorry we can't break up the party". I stated well then seat us 2 adults and two kids at each table and forget we are together" The hostess refused to seat us. I quickly asked to speak to the manager. The manager was very short and stated "We can't split up your party". Talk about greed!!! First of all it was Saturday night at 6pm and the restaurant was half empty...usually the place doesn't fill up until 7:30-8:00 on Saturday evenings. We would have been long gone by then. I even told the manager that we would not stick around after our meal and that we would only be an hour or so. I asked that he please accommodate us explaining that we are very loyal customers that bring in a lot of business. It seemed that he could care less and quickly walked away. Well, needless to say, I have not returned since this happened. So, for whatever they saved on giving the table to someone else that night, they lost in me never visiting again. I think in the long run...Mojave Grill loses. Next time show some appreciation to loyal customers.

I would not return. The food was fine but not worth it for the price. The company that owns this restaurant also owns Theresa's in Westfield, an Italian restaurant which is much better.

We live in downtown Westfield, and Mojave Grill is one of our few go-to places to eat in town. The food is always delicious, and the service friendly. Our only minor complaint is the pace from the kitchen - it is almost always far too rushed! At dinner the other night (our most rushed yet), we each ordered an appetizer that didn't require much preparation (tuna tartare and the great tortilla soup) and they arrived at our table in less than 5 minutes. Our entrees than showed up about 2 minutes after they cleared our appetizer plates. If we had let the kitchen influence the length of our dining experience, we would have been done in 45 minutes! Thankfully, our waitress let us linger to enjoy our bottle of wine before bringing the check. I would easily give a 4-star rating based on the food and service, but ended up giving 3-stars due to the typical rushed pace of our meal.

Mojave Grille is a nice restaurant. I really like the menu, it's very inventive. The braised short rib with greens and mashed potatoes was outstanding but I didn't like the lime braised pork all that much. Nice soup of the day but it's been the same both times I've been there. The pre fix dinner menu during weeknights is very reasonable. I'll be going back.

I have been going to Mojave Grille for a pretty long time and I keep coming back for more. Although the menu doesn't change too much, they always have different speacials. The staff is very kind and attentive, and the food is superb. I love the lime braised pork and the crab cakes. The atmosphere is very southwestern. The parking is either on the sreet or in a lot down the street. One of my favorite things about this resteraunt is that it is within short walking distance of Rita's, a custard place. So overall, this is a great palce to eat.

Good Tex Mex food. I wish Lime was still around which served Mexican cuisine, but Mojave Grill is the next best thing in Westfield. Food is good, though cornbread is a disappointment.

One of the better places downtown Westfield with quite interesting TexMex cuisine. Some of the dishes like the flank steak and the seared tuna are worth it. Others are OK but missing some WOW factor. BYOB makes this place a better deal.

Very good restaurant and BYOB!! My boyfriend loved his meal there and I was happy with mine as well. The unique menu features a tex-mex with an emphasis on seafood dishes. The atmosphere is great. Stop in Cool Vines (down the street) after you put your name on the waiting list to pick out a nice bottle of wine to have with dinner.

SO SO, their south western stile salmon tasted like store bought over sweet barbecue sauce. The food was much better several years ago
