I waited four years to eat at Chik Fil A since there aren't any within 100 miles of where I live. While visiting with a friend and her family, I begged them to stop at Chik Fil A for me, since it was so close their house. They graciously obliged me. I sort of wish they hadn't. The service was speedy enough at the mall location. In the past, all the Chik Fil A's I had visited were in stand-alone buildings in North Carolina where I once lived. I have learned from this experience that the stand-alone ones are in a completely different league than the mall locations in terms of quality of service. My order was simple enough: A classic chicken sandwich with a side of sweet and sour sauce, an order of waffle fries, a medium unsweetened "northern" iced tea (the southerners like their sugary drinks, iced tea included), and a medium fruit salad. My order arrived within five minutes of placing it. They gave me an enormous plastic shopping bag for my fruit salad. Upon investigation, I discovered why: I had no fruit salad. I had a salad, alright. Rabbit food. I politely returned my food and informed them that they had messed up my order and I expected my fruit salad. Unbelievably, the girl working the cash register (who seemed a little strung out on something, probably weed or a horse tranquilizer) took back the salad, voided the salad, and then CHARGED ME AGAIN for the fruit salad. I asked her if I could have a free fruit salad since she messed up not once, but TWICE on my simple order! She sleepily said no, that it wasn't company policy unless they had really messed up. My medium fruit salad arrived, and I peeked into the bag just to make sure I had gotten what I paid for. Yup, there was definitely fruit salad in that bag. So we left the mall and drove back to the house. During dinner, I unpacked my meal. Sandwich, check. Waffle fries, check. Drink, check. Sweet and sour sauce, not there. Nor in anyone else's bag. I settled for ketchup. For dessert I pulled out my troublesome fruit salad.... and was shocked at the size. It was the size of my palm. And barely an inch high. I realized I had been gipped. Though I had PAID for a medium I had received an impossibly tiny portion. It wasn't even a small. Or a kiddie. It was an anorexic portion. I filled out an online survey voicing my opinion on my rotten service and received a voucher for a free chicken sandwich. The crying shame is that I still regrettably live nowhere near a Chik Fil A. I'm sorry but honestly, how the f*ck do you mess up such an easy order? They want to raise minimum wage? Yeah, good luck with that.
