I'm new in town and I was looking for a bagel place. This place seems to have a ton of selections. I grabbed a menu. It looks like they deliver. I have yet to order delivery to my new place though, it seems like a lot of places in the area are chain restaurants. My pumpernickel bagel with egg and cheese was pretty good. I also had a cappuccino that was enjoyable, more so than many places that often put in too much milk. The employees weren't that friendly. I felt like I was being ushered a long in a cafeteria line, by people who hate their lives (maybe it's true?). Safe to say I had an alright experience, but the search for my new spot doesn't end here.

The service is getting worse and worse.. And apparently, going on a Sunday of a holiday weekend is the kiss of death. The employees couldn't care less about the customers. I paid over $20 for 2 salads, only to get home and see that they were both COMPLETELY WRONG. I understand that mistakes happen, I'm in the service industry myself ( for almost 20 years) but when the ingredients are clearly listed, there is no excuse for BOTH salads to be made incorrectly. It wouldn't be as irritating if the employee didn't act like we were inconveniencing him.

If you ask any of the locals tho, they will always say something great about this place, it truly is yummy. Choices, choices and choices. ive been here a few times and always happy with what i can choose from. I underestimated the scallion cream cheese---at first i didnt think it would have enough flavor but it does. However ,the egg salad looks gross--been avoiding it. Coffee is always fresh and tastes good. Downfall is the service. Seems to be a bit slow here. Everything is very reasonably priced too!

I've wanted to review Bagel Buffet Secaucus for sometime now, but never got around to it. After my husband came home with an incorrect order AGAIN, I decided I had had to say something. (Please know that it's our own fault that we've continued to patron this establishment.) Like many other unsatisfied customers: 1) The prices are ridiculously high for the amount of food you get. 2). Orders are always wrong. I understand that mistakes happen, but THEY WRITE DOWN YOUR ORDER. How is it possible that so many mistakes are consistently made? The employees don't care. 3) Despite this, it is often crowded, which may be a result of the terribly slow service. They occasionally try to "speed up" helping customers by having someone take down everyone's order at once. The only problem with this is when you're the first person in line because then you have to wait for the rest of the line to place their orders before you can be helped! In the time that you wait for your order to be pulled from the top of the pile, that employee could have simply helped you and you could have been on your way. It's a good idea in theory, but it just feigns urgency to help customers; in reality it's just a great way to frustrate them. ... and I'd like to add something new to the reviews: A couple of weeks ago I was in the store, and a man standing by the drinks was on his phone making a scene. He was repeatedly screaming, "F*CK YOU" and other profanities into his cell. (Thankfully there were no children around.) After the call ended, he walked behind the counter into the back of the store. It was obvious that he worked at Bagel Buffet, but I didn't know who he was. It was only after I came on Yelp did I realize who this was. He's the business owner, Richard D! I recognized him in his Yelp profile picture! The business owner was screaming profanities at the front of his own store. Classy. Continue to shop here, but at your own risk.

I stopped in recently with my husband to grab some bagels and cream cheese and breakfast sandwiches. The place was on the crowded side, but the employees were efficient. My husband and I both had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel. The sandwich was very good. Everything tastes fresh and I really liked the bagel. The restaurant has many different breakfast and lunch options. I would definitely return.

Great bagel place, plenty of options. They seem to have a system down, however on the day that we came it took over 10 minutes for 2 bagels with cream cheese so something went wrong that day. I'll try it again, as the bagel were great.

I ditto Chris P's review below but add a star. "Yes, they are overpriced. Yes, they get very busy and sometimes mess up your order. However, at the end of the day, Bagel Buffet gets so crowded because their food is so good. I left many, many more times satisfied than disappointed." their bagels are super fresh. I LOVE their whole wheat everything scooped out and toasted with low fat veg cream cheese.

I *did* like this shop; it's got almost everything and it's bagels used to be the best in the area (including the places I have visited in NYC) but... Went to the BB to get some bagels; I had been bragging to a friend one Sunday about the quality of their bagels and I had to get some: Put up or shut up kinda thing. Indeed, a few years prior I used to buy them upwards of 3 dozen at a time and freeze and thaw as needed. My first job as a kid was making bagels and, admittedly, I keep a high standard. So if I wanted to impress someone, well, there's where I would go! It's a drive so I didn't go often. Forward to April of 2015. So it had been a couple of three years since I had been there but I wanted something special for someone special! I got a dozen assorted just to bring home. What a disappointment! I can live with more-or-less VERY busy and uncaring employees; they're not eating with me. It's an annoyance but I can just let that be water off a ducks back. But the bagels... But those bagels were doughy, undercooked and unflavorful; as if they hadn't been proofed long enough or the salt/sugar ratios (or both) weren't right. And they were WAY over-sized; bread with holes. I even inquired about them when i saw them to the lady behind the counter that served me. She told me that that's how they made them at that point in time. So I brought them home being a bit apprehensive.. While eating, when I asked how the bagels were, the answer was, "I don't like them as much as the other place" (Wonderbagles). I had to agree, they were inferior. I was surprised to say the least. I was kinda embarrassed as I had waxed poetic about this place. I suspect BB's owners have gotten lazy in their success. It's ironic as WB was the number two shop 3+ years ago. I didn't *love* them but they were fairly good; not as good as BB *used* to be. So, seeing the deteriorated(ing) quality and accounting for the relatively higher cost of the product (about a buck a piece and no bakers dozen to boot), I'll be going to Wonderbagles in Jersey City.

Enormous selection of not just bagels but just about anything you can think of. Reasonably priced although the Pennines are way over priced. Really fast service and everything is cook to order so the food comes out fresh and hot. They open quite early so if you have an early show for work you bet they'll be open and you won't wait more than 2 min to get what you want. Interior looks kinda industrial and low mid class people are here but what can you expect from Secaucus?

    (4)
  • John S.

Good food but way over priced. Ridiculous what they charge for a plain bagel with cream cheese. Would go more often but the prices are way to high.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. They're rude, overpriced and not accommodating. The only reason that they're still in business is because there is nowhere else to eat. If you have the opportunity, buy tomatoes from the farmers market next door and throw it at this place.

Nothing like Bagel Buffets Tuna Melt panini. I have been coming to Bagel Buffet for years and everytime I think I have found a new breakfast and lunch joint I always miss the freshness of the salads and their customer service is always on point.

I'd say 2.5 stars. The food is OK, nothing special or exciting, it's typical run of the mill deli. They lose points for several reason, one their prices. They forget they are in a junky strip mall in Secaucus that contains a CVS, KFC and a few empty stores. On top of high prices for a basic sandwich they charge way too much extra for LTO (Lettuce, tomato, onion), these should come standard for a sandwich at the prices Bagel buffet charges. Everything is an add on here and I don't like that. But, if you've read other reviews you know this place is overpriced. enough of that. Ordering is a cluster and a half. Most places have a sign hanging that says order here, pay here, etc. This is a gaggle you walk in you don't know where to go or order, who is in line who isn't. It's a mess. They should have a sign or two, especially because there are salad lines, sandwich lines and bagel lines. The food, it's OK. The bagels are pretty solid, I don't eat them much anymore but they are decent size and generally have a decent selection. Sometimes they run a tad small. The sandwiches are decent but there is nothing game changing here. The cream cheeses are excellent with a wide variety. Again, basic kinda deli fare with some paninnis thrown in for good measure. I never walk out thinking, mmmm I can't wait to have that again! I always try something different in hopes it will have that affect...alas it has been unattainable. Good drink selection, but also over priced. Even the bananas are over priced at a buck a piece. Be prepared to spend over $10 a visit, not a daily lunch routine.

This place used to be great. I dealt with the high prices because the service was great and the bagels were very good. I just went in here and waited 10 min for 2 bagels. I was the only person in the store! The person was very rude and slow. The quality of the bagels have drastically decreased. This change is definitely a loss for the community.

This place is a gem when it comes to the bagels, always fresh. The lox spread is awesome but the service is not that great. Oh we'll I love the bagels so much I put up with the lack of service

Good breakfast, great bagels, not cheap but you get what you pay for. Always busy and long lines but they move fast and you never wait too long, even on a Sunday morning for bagels! My only gripe, and it is a small one because I've only had lunch a few times.. The sandwiches could be meatier, lots of bread but not enough filling.

I had the "pleasure" of going to bagel buffet again the other day. I can't help but feeling like I have been robbed every time I go. The food is good but the prices are ridiculous. You could buy a sandwich and coffee at Starbucks in midtown Manhattan for less. They nickel and dime you for everything. I purchased a chicken sandwich and a soda (2.50) and it was almost $12.00. I got charged .75 for a slice of tomato and additional for lettuce. I believe cheese was an extra dollar. The problem is there aren't many options for bagels in the area. There is a bagel place 4103 tonnele ave that is much more reasonable, but not nearly as fancy, nor do they have a extensive menu. I believe it is called M & J bagels. If you are looking for basic bagels I would try there. Hopefully, enough people will complain and stop going to bagel buffet so the owners get a reality check and adjust there prices accordingly. If they were more reasonable I would go more often. I am far from cheap I just hate feeling like I am getting ripped off.

I usually have pretty good experiences at bagel buffet. but this morning was ridiculous. I place my order online 1 hour before I arrive, When I get there. Not only is my order not ready, but it is WRONG, who ever heard of a bacon egg and cheese sandwich with no egg???. And to top it all off the cashier had a bad attitude. To the extent that she actually threw the bag at me........I couldn't stay and handle her and her little attitude because I was running late for work. But that really messed up my morning....Like seriously? If I hadn't already paid online I would have walked out without my order smh....I will be taking my business elsewhere. There are other places in secaucus

Great Bagels but way 2 expensive. I get the same things for way less elsewhere. Cappuccino wasn't good.

Eating here now. The place looks impressive and promising, but the positives ended at the door. The service is poor, and they are disorganized. I wasn't sure where I needed to order, and when I finally figured out, nobody was there to take my order. I ordered a bacon egg cheese roll. This is standard fare, and it is difficult to screw up. Somehow, the roll was cold like it just came out of the cooler, ruining the entire sandwich. The coffee wasn't great either. The real problem here is price. My meal (which included a Nesquik) came to nearly $10. I usually pay less than $8. I can overlook negative stuff when the prices are low, and if this place was a small joint, I'd give them another chance, but at a certain price point disappointment becomes unpalatable, and I feel compelled to speak up. I'd come here again if I had no other convenient options.

3.5 stars for the bagel. The bagels here are tasty, but they're a little undersized. They're chewy and soft like they should be. They don't have the best selection of cream cheeses, but they have all the obvious ones. Their scallion cream cheese is excellent because of the amount of scallions in it. Sometimes some places barely have any in it. Same goes for their vegetable cream cheese. This place got tons of space and seating if you want to dine in.

As always there was a line however the staff is very good at making the line move quickly. I order my food and waited about five minutes. Ordered bacon, egg and cheese on a plain roll and home fries. My son and I both enjoyed our meal. Delish as always, don't let the long line intimidate you.

Stopped by this joint with some friends after a long night in NYC. Extremely clean and plenty of employees yelling out "who's next". The line moves quickly and I ordered a toasted sesame bagel with lox spread. They had plenty of other spreads to chose from and also a pretty slamming looking chopped salad bar. Prices were reasonable for bagels but the egg sandwiches were expensive. Their is also a nice sized seating area if you decide not to carry out. The bagel was only slightly toasted but definitely fresh and tasty. Cream cheese was excellent and had nice size lox chunks. If I'm in the area ill certainly be back.

Although the food is rather good it does not make up for the lack of customer service skills. Every time I visit this location I wonder why I am going to put myself through the same torture of poor customer service. No one greets you when you get to the counter to take your order and forget about the rudest cashiers that just speak Spanish to each other while your standing there and wait for you to approach them. Today she tapped on the counter while I was standing there waiting for her to say hello or anything. I will most likely visit again but it will be awhile, I'm glad I don't live in Secaucus and the awesome bagel store in Saddle Brook is so much better, Midland Bagels.

Beware unless you have lots of money !! or Simply care how much anything is !! Poppy Bagel with Cream cheese (plain cream cheese & not toasted).. $3.00 !! $3.00 !! Paid begrudgingly got to office, opened it up & found it to be so small !! It was a bit bigger than a Mini Bagel at other stores that only charge $1.75 to $2.00 for a bigger & yes better tasting bagel. No the bagel was not that good.. EXPENSIVE !!!!

Checked this place out for the first time during a busy Sunday morning. The employees were nice and smiling the entire time. They seemed to have their "system" of taking order down, no problems there. Prices were reasonable compared to others and I thought the food (breakfast sandwich on bagel) was very good.

BEST bagels i EVER had (salt bagel with butter and jelly Oh yeaaaa)...even if the line is long they have a handfull of employees so the line moves quick... nice local spot with plenty of options aside from their amazing bagels. cuban panini is very good...burgers are decent...love the steak fries

I have been having Bagel Buffet's bagels for over 10 years. I would say that BB's bagels are one of the best around. It's a tight race between theirs and Wonder Bagel in Jersey City. I can only comment on their bagels, coffee and veggie cream cheese because that's all I have had at the BB. I love their doughy bagels, nice and crispy on the outside. The veggie cream cheese is awesome. Coffee is great too. They remodeled a few years back and have a dining area. Great place, They also have another store in Hackensack by the Route 17 Pathmark. The prices may be a little higher than other places, but the quality is higher at BB.

I was overly disappointed with the oveall experience due to two facts: 1. They burnt my bagel 2. Cashier over priced me on Arizona Drink I came in battling myself between Dunkin Donuts or Bagel Buffet, and chose Bagel Buffet because I felt it would be less processed than a mega food chain. When I walked in (around 7:00 AM) there wasn't a long line but I could tell all their staff was busy fulfilling catering orders. I looked at their menu asked for oatmeal, they didn't have it. So I went for my bread & butter breakfast staple: Garlic bagel with sausage, egg and cheese with pepper and ketcup. I waited about 3 minutes for my bagel, actually it was done ealier but the counter worker was busy with someone to notice. Wasn't too upset because I chose a drink while waiting, Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng. I walked up to the counter and the cashier woman was clearly looking for a price on the Arizona, when she didn't see a price she plugged in $2.50. I was like 'Whoa, is that the price?'... with confidence she said 'Yea.' My total was $7.27 for a breakfast sandwich and some tea... sugar water if you will. Whatever. I walked to the tables to eat my breakfast sandwich and found that the bagel was completely burnt and there was no ketchup on my bagel or pepper for that matter... I was utterly disappointed with the overall service and wished I had chosen Dunkin Donuts. Overall, I would never choose this place over Dunkin again for breakfast... was too disappointed to say the least with the service and the food was not what I ordered.

Nova Lox+veggie cream cheese+pump bagel+hot coffee= me, in a slightly improved morning condition, powering through jet lag, and ready and able to face any and all obstacles that NJ/NY can throw at me! Love this place, has been my fiancé's favorite since she was a native, and I can honestly see why!!!

I like the yogurt parfaits at Bagel Buffet even though they are a little pricey. I was willing to pay because I really enjoy them but now I notice that they are not filling the parfait cups up to the top. It's the old pay same get less story. Not nice to do!!!

Good place to come on the weekends. Fresh bagels right out of the oven. They have all kinds of different cream cheeses or will make sandwiches. Large selection of bagels, rolls and mini bagels. Prices may be considered high but it is worth the quality. The bagels are large with just the right amount of crispy and chewy. Lots of tables to sit down, read the paper and enjoy breakfast.

I've been going to this place for over 20 years. The Bagels are good but not as good as they once were . The Bagels have gotten smaller and their prices higher . But the biggest problem are their workers . Mostly standing around and not helping . For the most part they are rude and unhelpful .

Once you have bagels here it will be very very difficult to eat bagels anywhere else. I drive about 10 miles just to get bagels from this place, also their selection of cream cheese's are astounding.

I pity the reviewers on this post that think Bagel Buffet's bagels are good. Understandable if they are not from this area, but if they are from the NY/NJ area and they think these are good bagel they must just have a strange preference for stale, small, dry bagels. And this is not the best bagel place in Secaucus, the best bagels are at Bagel Plus and Deli by the movie theater. I think this place is only in business because of the location and lack of other bagel stores in the area. First off, the bagels are not good by any bagel standard.. Bagels should be warm, BIG, doughy and satisfying. Bagel Buffet produces none of these qualities in their bagels. Also, they frequently have a strange sweet taste to them, almost more like stale birthday cake. Overall Bagel Buffet is 1. Way too expensive 2. Frequently overcrowded - They need a separate line for those who just want bagels and no special sandwiches etc. 3. Awful coffee - tastes like bitter water 4. Incorrect orders - Whenever I'm stuck going to BB I have to check my orders. Understandable if you are ordering 10 items, but I've had them screw up when I'm just getting 1 or 2 bagels. Seriously! Also, the cashier told my fiance she accidentally charged him for a large coffee rather than a medium. Not that he would make a stink over 50 cents or whatever, but he thought it was so amusing that she told him she made a mistake and then said it would be too hard for her to fix it and made him pay for it anyway. Hehe, seriously!? 5. Annoying Folk music - They always play this folky acoustic crap and it pisses me off. The best bagel place is New York Bagel Cafe in North Haledon. Since I never get up there anymore, we always try to go to Bagels Deli Plus, the guys there are awesome and friendly, and the bagels are fresh and good, and the coffee is AWESOME!

I'm really disappointed to write a negative review about this place because I have been going there for almost 20 years, but I've just had enough. Almost every time I place an order for delivery (sometimes in store orders too) it is messed up in a way that costs me multiple dollars. This wouldn't be an issue if it happened infrequently. Today I ordered a salad that cost me just under $19 dollars. The salad was so expensive because I ordered several "toss-ins". When I received the salad, half of the toss-ins (that I paid an unbelievable amount for) were not included. This kind of thing happens all the time. I didn't even call to complain this time because I'm just done. Sometimes, when ordering online, I even write in the additional comments, "please include ALL additional toss-ins". But it's ridiculous to have to remind the person making the salad to read the ingredients slip. Also, it's insulting to someone who actually does the job carefully. Honestly, the service in Bagel Buffet is sloppy and careless at best. This is coming from a once die-hard Bagel Buffet fan too. So disappointing. :(

Bagels are the best. Love their fresh lox and scallion cream cheese. They blend their scallion cream cheese which makes it tasty. They are clean and have a good selection. I just wish the prices were more reasonable so I could go more often.

First I want to apologize for my first review as I was pointed to the wrong location from the locator in the yelp app. I was able to go back for the first time and found a great looking place that smelled amazing. You can tell they bake fresh and care about the freshness of there product. However my service seemed to be slow and they over toasted my bagel so it was partially burnt. The scallion cream cheese was very good. I ordered a ham and Swiss on a hero and while very good it seemed a little light for the price. I'm not from around this area so I don't know what the alternatives are but it was good enough for me to try again when I am back in the area.

Garlic bagel with lowfat veggie cream creese is my pick. No one would believe me if I told you that this is the best bagel in the NY Tri-State area. Sometimes you need to tak a drive to NJ and explore the awesome joints nobody else talks about. Freshly made, wide variety of spreads, service is good too.

    (5)
  • J S.

Where do I start: 1. It's always packed 2. Most people who serve you are CLUELESS 3. The sandwiches are listed at $5.50 but they charge 0.80 for onion? 0.50 for tomato? .40 for lettuce? more charges for cheese? what the F is up with that? Just charge me $7.99 for the whole sandwich and let's call it a day, shall we? 4. $2.50 for a vitamin water? REALLY? 5. How could I forget...It takes FOREVER! You order a taylor ham or egg sandwich and you are literally standing there in the back by the counter with 100 other people and it takes 15-20 minutes to make...any other bagel place in NJ, egg sandwich takes 4-5 minutes to make MAX. It's the only decent bagel around, truly, but the rest of these factors make me cringe every time I even think about going here... The place is one giant pain in the butt.

  • Michelle R.

Best breakfast sandwiches around! this is the place i compare all other bagel joints to. Though considering where i live now (and every place is a chain) its hard to find good bagels. The spread selection is unbeatable. Its not cheap but its good. id rather pay $3+ at BB for quality than $2.79 @ DD for warm crap. Yes it is ALWAYS crowded but that should say something about the quality of food. Whenever im in Secaucus I stop and get a BEC SPK on an everything bagel lightly toasted and a cup of over priced jelly rings. Been doing it for at least 16 years that i can remember and ill keep coming back. that said, don't expect the staff to be buddy buddy. they are frickin busy. gotta know what you want when you get up there and the line will keep moving. its not a 5 star sit down restaurant so that doesnt bother me. food is worth it.

While I don't go to Bagel Buffet for anything BUT bagels, I can say with great confidence that this has been the best bagel shop definitely in Secaucus and dare I say Hudson County. Their bagels are freshly baked and absolutely delicious. They aren't skinny little things either. If you go to bagel buffet, I would suggest you order the Taylor Ham & Egg on an everything bagel. De. Lic. Ious! And you can't go wrong with a simple sesame bagel with butter. I love that they have a vast selection of drinks and coffees, not to mention chips and other things you would find a deli. I have yet to try their paninis or homemade hot foods. However, their macaroni salad looked pretty good when I went to BB yesterday. I've been going to bagel buffet for the last 10 years or so and I hope to continue going (unless another bagel place comes my way).

While living south of the Mason-Dixon, I pined for bagels. Yearned for a well-crafted breakfast sammy. The place that haunted my dreams was Bagel Buffet. Egg whites, turkey and cheese on an egg bagel with salt/ pepper/ ketchup is my mainstay, but I have yet to have anything at BB that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. Quick, fresh and friendly... I love me some Bagel Buffet!

  • Andrea D.

I come here every morning before work. I get eggs and fruit. You can't get much more generic than that. However, when lunch time hits this is probably the only place to go that is semi-reasonable. They toss your salad (get out of the gutter). I swear they have over thirty different items to top your mixed greens with. Salon, eggs, cranberries, raisins, soy beans, grilled chicken, friend chicken, all of the usuals, and some pretty great dressings. Ask them to toss it or just top it. They'll do it for you! I have only had the tossed salads. Sandwiches and the traditional lunch fair are present...but, what can I say...I like my tossed salads. I didn't have the bagels....I can't comment on that topic!

  • Mark C.

Ok, Ok...YES it's pricey, YES it gets crowded, but don't let these get in the way of experiencing the quality of bagel buffet! There's a reason why this place gets so crowded: they simply have great food. My usual breakfast is an egg and cheese (sometimes with taylor ham on heavy workload days), with pepper and ketchup on a whole wheat bagel. It's all made fresh when ordered with fresh ingredients. It's like you made it at home but better because they make it on the grill. Their bagels are their shining star! Much bigger than any other place in the area, the way they make them they develop slight crispy crusts on the bottom and a little at the top. They're slightly doughy, but not too doughy that it's a mess. But whether you have savory ingredients like eggs and cheese or sweet stuff like some of their cream cheese (which are also top notch! my favorites are the jalapeno, sundried tomato, and strawberry cream cheeses), you really just can't go wrong with bagel buffet. As a Secaucus resident and long time customer of this establishment, i've yet to have a bad meal from this place. it's been so long, i doubt it'll ever happen. one more thing, i got too wrapped up in breakfast, but it's not just a breakfast place! they have great item for lunch and dinner. My favorite lunch item is a hot breaded chicken cutlet sandwich with land-o-lakes american cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a plain round roll. That sandwich alone will make a believer out of anyone, i guarantee it!

I ordered a whole wheat everything toasted butter...but they gave me a non-whole wheat everything. However, it was AWESOME! My 2nd favorite bagel shop in NJ at the moment and I will definitely try to hit this place up again when I'm in the area! OK, so here's an update... this is definitely in the top 2 bagel places I love in NJ... and potentially the tri-state area right now. Had their whole wheat everything, and they definitely have a beefier coating than 99% other bagel shops. potentially the fluffiest bagels I've had in years.

I came here with my boyfriend on a Sunday morning looking for a good bagel. We found one! I had a plain bagel with the scallion cream cheese and it was delish! The boy had a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese & he also loved his. My coffee was also good, not amazing but still good. He also had a parfait and while he liked it, I thought that the yogurt they used was too watery for me. It had a funny texture and a funny taste. But we will definitely be back for the bagels. Yum!

Over priced!! I got a yogurt and I spent $10. The food isn't that good either

Can this place cost any more? They charge extra for lettuce, but that's a staple of a sandwich. The staff is bused in from the depths of the Jersey City ghettos. They socialize while making your food, usually screwing up your order. one of the owners has a new Mercedes every month, paid for by that expensive lettuce. I've heard him say he's smarter than a doctor. He's a bagel boy! Not worth the money and not worth the aggravation waiting in line.

Bagels are better then most. Paninis are great. Loses points for being totally overpriced.

One of the better bacon egg and cheese sandwiches I have ever had. Tons of options here but the bagels are the reason to go. The only negative is the wait time for your food. It takes forever. Also, get your coffee elsewhere because it is not good.

Just had a bagel with lox spread. Good bagel, good service, just not a sit down service. Would have given it a 4 star rating for the bagel, but my wife had the tuna fish platter which was average.

This place is nice. lots of options to choose from and its fresh. The seating area is roomy and clean. From the outside, I never expected this place to look like this inside from the parking lot entrance. I will return for lunch more here.

Good but not great! Corned beef was bad. Bagel was good. Too expensive!

I honestly LOVE this place. Especially the chicken cutlet sandwhiches and the salad bar is to DIE for. The prices are WAY too high though... but at least your getting your moneys worth. The french fries the bagels, the friendly staff. If you ask for 'extra' something they are willing to accomodate your request free of charge... especially if your a regular like I am. :) Definately recommend bagel buffet to anyone!

I'm not a huge fan of cream cheese so I stick to butter on my bagels. Every time I go, I ask for a bagel that's not hot. Reason being, it's a gross greasy mess by the time I eat it. Every time without fail, I get a hot bagel. Annoying, especially when I tell them I'll take ANY bagel as long as it's not hot. Coffee is a hit or miss, depending on what time it is. Parking is terrible. The bagels are good, but the grease stain on my car seat still pisses me off.

I am a frequent patron of Bagel Buffet. The parking lot sucks and the service and ordering process can be annoying. But the bagels are great, the flavored cream cheeses are delish (try the scallion or olive pimento!) and I often crave the eggplant parm panini. Its a little pricey for a bagel shop but the quality is good, so I'm usually happy when I leave.

Solid from top to bottom, no matter what you get. Great bagels, good spreads. Tons of selection for a bagel place. Try their chicken salad. Super yummy.

This place has awesome bagels. I usually get a toasted onion bagel with cream cheese. They lay the cream cheese on a little thick, though, so if you don't like too much of it, make sure you tell them to go light on the cream cheese because they won't ask. I've had a bagel with the amount of cream cheese they put on there, but sometimes it's a little too much for me and I have to scrape a little bit off. I've lived in Secaucus my entire life and this place has been here for a long time, but I only just recently started trying out their breakfast sandwiches (but on bagels). They're pretty good. They have a wide selection of things to put on your bagels: cream cheeses, salads (like egg or chicken salad), lox... They have other salads available as well (like caesar salads and stuff). You can make your own salad. I mean, I'm sure they make it for you, but you pick out what you want, of course. You can also make your own coffee or tea and there are refrigerators where you can pick a bottled beverage. I would recommend running to the CVS next door, though, because the prices of the drinks are a bit pricey, in my opinion. I believe they cater, deliver, and also accept faxed in orders. A few years back, this bagel store was voted one of the best bagel places in the tri-state area or something (I forget; I heard it on Z100, but I stopped listening to that station back in high school... which was before 2002, heh). ANYWAY, I really do think it's an awesome bagel store and it deserved its recognition. There is another one located in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. It has the same name and the bagels were pretty much the same; I'm sure it's the same owner. I used to work in that area a few years ago, so I stopped by occasionally. The last time I checked, it wasn't as clean as the one in Secaucus. The atmosphere didn't do anything for me either. It was "eh." I usually just got my food to go. This one in Secaucus, though... ::thumbs up:: I noticed there are a couple of bagel places in the city that go by the same name, but I'm not sure if they're run by the same people and I haven't been to them either, so I can't comment on them. A lot of people come here for the yummy bagels, so if you stop by during peak hours (like in the morning/lunch hours... and it's especially busy on the weekends), be prepared to wait in line!

Fantastic bagels--big, high, doughy, just right density, heavier than bread but not a pretzel. Lots of varieties too, but they have got the exact right proportions of all the tastes on their everything, so I always get that. They have awesome breakfast sausage, so I highly recommend my favorite breakfast sandwich, the SEC (sausage, egg & cheese). Wait staff friendly and work very hard, but occasionally they are distracted and you can feel forgotten about as you wait in line to give your order. They do a tremendous business and it can be very busy, but it's worth the wait in line. Prices are hefty--at least they serve quality food for the prices, so you don't feel like you are getting ripped off. Whenever I'm driving through Secaucus, I make sure to come up with an excuse to stop off here.

This has been a breakfast stop for my son and I over the past three years or thereabouts. It is local which is a plus. I do think they are well overpriced with everything offered. Coffee is alright, nothing to brag about quite frankly. Bagels appear rather smaller than anticipated (economic-down sizing I suppose) and the pricing for bagels is higher than in other bagel places. My experiences have been hit or miss with some being above average, to on par, to just okay. My son agrees and mentioned he has had better from Bagel Buffet in the past, but none of his experiences were awful. We both recently got back there to have lunch, and it seems to have gotten more expensive. We ordered a plain bagel (dry) not toasted, a tuna sandwich, a diet coke with lime, and a minute maid pink lemonade. I did not order lettuce on my tuna sandwich nor did I bother asking. My son made remarks about the price being higher and I agreed. $5.50 for a tuna sandwich? Come on, you can certainly do a lot better! It was alright, but nothing impressive. The buffet is clean, not overly clean but good enough. The drinks are cold which is a plus, coffee as mentioned is alright at any time of the day. Have not tried anything else there so far. Because of the area, that might be why everything is more expensive than at other places, but I do not think it is worth it when another option is available. No complaints with service, or else that might be enough to make me stop trying this place. There have been some good experiences here which convinced me to go back, but it is not always at the same time of day. If you are looking for coffee, or something light then maybe it is worth stopping for if you are on the go. But otherwise it is really up to you and your opinion about Bagel Buffet. I will give them another chance that hopefully will be a hit, and if it is the same then there will be a different place out there worth the expense. You just have to give different places more than one chance to see how everything is and that speaks for itself.

I've been coming here for a few years now for a bagel and coffee from time to time. Today I stopped in for lunch. Ordered tuna on a toasted everything bagel and an Arizona Iced Tea. Total came to $9.04 with tax. Very steep for something very simple. I can just imagine how much it would have cost if I got the extras like the lettuce and tomatoes. I asked the cashier if I broke a window.

Working in the culinary wasteland that is Secaucus is enough to send any food lover spiraling into depression, however a solid breakfast option lurks in a sad strip mall just off route 3. I've been coming here for a few years now and they're pretty damn consistent. When you first walk in the first thing you'll notice is that they have a sh*t ton of cream cheese options. They vary between delicious and punch your mother in the face, they've got some really quality stuff here. They have a decent variety of bagels as well, not the best the East coast has to offer but certainly better than a lot of places. Come on by and have an egg bagel with low fat veggie cream cheese. You'll thank me later.

Overpriced gouging of customers. A veggie cream cheese plain bagel (with a thin layer of cream cheese) and Tropicana OJ runs almost $7, elsewhere the same would cost $5 and give you a layer of cc to bite into. It seems they are carrying too much overhead, such as rent and the dozen employees in uniforms to lower any costs.

Gotta say that BB kinda took a turn for the worse staff-wise. I still go there but get frustrated frequently...being asked over and over whether I said butter or cream cheese or if I wanted it toasted or not. They all seem to be goofing off with each other then they get confused as to the complexities of making a buttered bagel. It makes me mad but then I remember when I was younger and working jobs like this that got me up at ridiculous hours and paid poorly...then I feel bad for getting so upset with them. I have such a love hate relationship with the place...I get very emotional about it, but then I just feel stupid knowing that I care so much about breakfast while they are just trying to provide a service and pay the bills....like all of us. The Girls at the register are really nice though.

Have not been there in a long time, until today. Now I know why. Rude, inattentive staff, slow service. Expensive too. I much prefer the small bagel place in Harmon Meadow. Good bagels and very nice staff. See 'ya BB!

I had the Nova on an Everything bagel. The salmon was fresh. They do put a bit too much cream cheese on for me though. Not a bad wait for a Sunday morning, I was in and out in under 10 min. Not the best but a solid bagel spot.

The food is not bad but the speed, service and most of all PRICE is why I'm giving it 2 stars. For the amount of people and the organization of the system would make you think their operation would have a quicker turn around, but it doesn't. While waiting I've seen 1 person leave from the long wait while another complain about the coffee price. I was trying to find a bagel place very close by that had good reviews but couldn't seem to locate it. I won't be coming back here.

Very nice and cozy breakfast bar. Im going usually in the morning to get my coffee and the service is always fast and good. I like this place because you can build your own sandwich and it always fresh. The make the bagels in site so thats one more plus. Highly recomended
