Came here yesterday with intentions of exploring an undiscovered burger joint. Everything leading up to the first bite of lightly crisped French fries dipped in truffle aioli was perfecto. I normally don't credit things on being perfect but, BB gave off the right amount of ambience indoors and variety from the menu. Two important factors to customer experience. It is BYOB so we stopped in Masons Celler just across the street after ordering. I purchased "le freak" a hybrid of an IPA and Belgian White Ale beer to accompany my "Americano" burger. Each item comes with LTO on the side and a house made pickle (btw such a good pickle). The patty is short rib brisket and some other options are seasoned according to the name. I opted for Cheese Sauce (I think it was cheddar melted with some dairy to make a thick consistency) and the fries w/ dip on the side. When done right, everything complimented each other and I was very satisfied with the experience here in this establishment. Overall, I'd recommend this top notch place for good vibes and great options to choose from.

My wife and I decided to try BB after seeing the wonderful Yelp reviews. We pulled up about 7pm on a Saturday and were surprised to see the place just about empty. We found parking right out front, we entered and were told to sit wherever we wish. We were greeted by a very sweet waitress (I can't remember her name, she was Asian), she told us about their specials. This is where the problem began, I had a clear plan of ordering the chicken breast sandwich w Mac n Cheese only to have her tell us of a special, duck confit w duck chicherron sandwich w a side of jus. As I look at the menu I notice they get their burger meat blend from Pat Lafrieda NYC (if u don't know, you should). So it's time to order, My wife ordered the American burger w home made mootz and mushrooms. I of course order the duck sandwich, we also ordered a side of Mac n cheese and fries along w 2 unsweetened homemade ice teas. - the whole menu is ala carte, they should include a side. Cheese, shrooms, fries are all extra $. - the fries, I wish we wouldn't have ordered them, they have to frozen bought. With all the homemade stuff they offer, they should offer a Belgium style fry IMHO. - Mac n cheese, good but could've used a bit more seasoning, a bit bland for my taste, we added s & p. - ice tea, unsweetened, we really enjoyed it. - American Burger - cooked perfect, my wife said "Best burger ever!" - Duck confit sandwich, it didn't have that ducky taste, the meat was so tender like pulled pork. The crunchy duck chicheron offered a wonderful crunchy texture. I added a homemade pickle, a slice of tomato and poured on some jus. I ate as slow as possible because I didn't want the sandwich to end although she is safe in my belly. Lol All in all BB is great, the service was awesome, the place is a bit bright, maybe a bit more ambiance is in order to attract more of an evening crowd. I still want to go back and try the other sandwiches. They should really step up their fry game and offer a side w the sandwiches. BB is without a doubt worth a try.

Near perfect. The burger was DELICIOUS, cooked perfectly, juicy and flavorful. The bacon was crisp and just smoky enough. The O-rings were very good but a touch oily. The homemade lemonade lacked in lemon flavor. And even the lettuce cup with pickle, tomato and onion was yum. Finally, we ordered the sorbet which was actually a granita. The black plum was excellent but the peach never made it. They need a decor or theme. But the young kid was totally professional and attentive. Go there. EXCELLENT.

This may be the oddest Burger joint I have ever been to. I'm not sure what to make of it. I think I need to go back again to get a better feel for it. First things first, it's tiny, and on a side street. If you weren't looking for it, you would never find it. The decor is almost non-existent. Very plain. There is a bit of an issue there, as no decor means that every noise in the place echoes. The music and the other patrons didn't seem loud at first, but it got really bad when a little child started screeching at the back of the room. It was so bad, the GF had to escape and stand outside until they got the kid to calm down. Now on to the food! That's why we came, right?? The menu is very small, which to my mind is pretty good. I would rather eat at a place that does 10 things really well, than a place that does 100 things poorly. GF and I ordered 2 burgers. She went for a more traditional American burger, where I went for the Filipino. We also ordered fries with truffle Mayo. I wanted to try the Banana ketchup everyone talks about, but they were out. Major disappointment. Now, time for a quick aside. I HATE glass Heinz ketchup bottles. These should be forbidden in all restaurants. Nothing disrupts the flow of a meal like trying to to shake, shimmy, tap, rap, and jiggle thick ketchup out of a narrow necked glass bottle. To all restaurants out there (looking at you Bergen Burger) drop the "classy" glass bottles, and get with the squeeze bottle revolution. Part of me almost wants to take away another star just for the ketchup bottles. Further issues. Even though we ordered completely different burgers, what was brought out to us looked exactly the same. One bite, and I knew something was off. My burger had Cheddar on it, when I ordered American. My GF took her first bite, and had this weird "this ain't right" look on her face. The waiter mixed up our burgers. Once we got them straightened out, she was pretty happy with hers. The Americano burger was juicy, cooked well, the burger had great flavor. The Filipino burger was also juicy, but given another go, I wouldn't order it again. It's just missing something. Like a slice of pineapple or something. Overall, not bad, just a little hit or miss. The fries with Truffle mayo were excellent. Kinda wish I could have tried the Banana ketchup too. :-( In totality, we had a less than ideal experience, but I see the potential here. I give our night there 3.5 stars, but rounding up for the quality of the meat and fries.

You'd be a fool if you dont try the fries with banana ketchup. I actually decided to eat chicken (since i normally dont), and boy was i in for a treat. The southern fried chicken was perfectly crunchy on the outside, and juicy and tender on the inside. Only topping i got was MAc n cheese but that was by far worth it. Downfall to this pair? the mess, if youre a delicate eater these burgers will be messy for ya. The place is small so take that into account when coming here, but the service is pretty quickl and the chef/owner even came out and spoke to me and my date about our burgers/chicken breast. i will be back and i will give you 5 stars! *Theres veggie burgers are made fresh so they can run out-i learned this the hard way!

Rutherford isn't the most happening town so when I heard some buzz about this place, I had to go check it out. The location isn't in a prime location and kind of hidden, so was pretty surprised that there was so much buzz about this place. The place is small but very clean and cutely decorated. The staff is super friendly and nice. As for food. I have only been here once and I got the chicken sandwich with the truffle aioli. The chicken was such a large piece and deep fried and the truffle aioli was the perfect combo with the chicken. There are other burgers on the menu which also sounded really good, so I definitely want to go back and try the others.

Fried Chicken burger with Truffle Aioli, and a side of Hand cut fries and BANANA KETCHUP. A++ The chicken sandwich was the perfect ratio of fried, crispy, and the chicken was moist and tender and cooked just right. The fries were hand cut, crispy, with good ratio of crunch to hot potato inside. And I could put that banana ketchup on everything if I could. Great experience and WILL be going back

Our waitress Jessica was extremely nice and pleasant. As soon as we sat down she told us the specials of the day. To start, we ordered the fried macaroni and cheese balls. They were OK nothing amazing, they weren't hot and lacking salt which was disappointing considering there were only 2 tables in total at the time. 3 came in an order for $6 as one of the specials. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread. First impression is everything and wow was the sandwich huge. The chicken had a nice crispy coating that but was overwhelming the sandwich. Picture is very deceiving because most of that was just coating and not chicken. I'm not a fan of fat but they definitely didn't do a good job cleaning this chicken because it was full of fat! Ooh my was it greasyyy, you were able to see the oil in the bread, not cool. That's a huge no no for me and really turned me off. I only ate half my sandwich, which was a disappointment and waste of money. Now, the Mexican burger with the fries was the definite winner here. The burger was juicy and had a nice charcoal flavor to it. The bun was a bit burnt but by reading some other reviews, I believe they do that purposely. Fries were crispy, definitely tasted differently then your average fries which is good because you need to stick out from the other competition near by. Overall, good experience but next time I try this place, I'll definitely get a Burger instead.

Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: It's the old Global Cuisine restaurant; green, slightly more elegant than a burger joint should be, nice touch. A little intimate and contemporary with popular music playing overhead. Noise/sound level: There were four customers inside when I went for lunch so it was relatively quite. The place is a little larger than your typical burger joint so I bet the sound will not be too much of an issue. Menu: Centered on burgers with a chicken sandwich and typical sides. The menu is not large but it is to the point it needs to be. Service: A little blase, cold, and uninforming but nice overall. Food: Had the Filipino burger with bacon and egg on top, tossed the lettuce, tomato, and onions out because I don't like grass on my meat. I also had onion rings. The rings were more than likely cooked in cold oil because they were extremely greasy. They were crispy to a degree, almost like a left over degree. The rings definitely needed salt like we need oxygen. The burger was seasoned fine, but cooked to a necessary medium well because of the pork in it. The bacon was cooked crisp but not stiff like a board. The largest downfall was the egg; it was cooked to death. The receipt said no runny yolk. Um, the waitress never mentioned anything about yolk to me, and the only reason people put it on their burger is so the yolk runs all over it. Not a bad burger but not great. Bar: BYOB Price: $18 for a burger with two toppings and some rings seems a bit steep, but it's Rutherford so I'll pay for a decent burger. Overall: If you're in the area Bergen Burger is a good place to grab a freshly made sandwich. I applaud the establishment for using fresh ingredients to hand make everything from scratch, but Black Rebel has way better burgers. Black Rebel over Bergen Burger for me.

I am pretty sure the chef is Filipino because of a few items on the menu called - Filipino Burger, Filipino BBQ pulled pork, Lumpia, and the dead giveaway: banana ketchup. Aside from the above, the menu offers unique burgers, sandwiches, and specials. To test out the waters, I went with the classic Americano Burger with American cheese served in a brioche bun, and a side of fries. According to the menu, the patty is 6 oz short rib/brisket/chuck. I should have requested how I wanted it done since the patty I received was overly charred (aka burnt). Not sure if that was intended. However, the inside was still fairly moist. Also, the bun was a bit too thick for the patty and I ended up with extra bread. The fries are hand cut and coated with a light starch. It did make the fries extra crispy which I liked, but starch on top of starch is a bit much. An option for some seasoning instead would be great. My husband had the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich and a side of onion rings. He enjoyed the first few bites, as did I, but at the end he felt like he drank a 1/2 cup of grease. On the positive side, the chicken had a nice crispy breading and the thigh meat was juicy and moist. Also the truffle aioli elevated the flavor. The onion rings were cooked tempura style and was extra crispy but it seems they absorbed a lot of the oil. The combo of the fried chicken and onion rings was just too greasy. Perhaps if ordered separately, it would be different. My husband is not one to complain about grease, but this was an exception. TUM TU TUM TUMS! My toddler had the LUMPIA (a daily special) which he devoured. The order comes with 4 pieces and a side of sweet chili sauce. I had a few bites and it was delicious. The spring roll was perfectly fried and stuffed with a generous amount of flavorful meat. (Typically, fried Lumpia at other restaurants are mostly spring roll wrapper with minimal meat). In an area that is saturated with Burger joints, you really have to set yourself apart and offer quality food. Bergen Burger has a good concept and I like how the chef inserts flavors from the motherland, but the execution falls a bit short. Although, I think with a few tweaks this place can be taken to the next level. The Lumpia, alone is worth coming back for and if Halo Halo shows up on the menu, I'm there.

2.5 stars...Hyped up yelp reviews led me here in search of an amazing burger...I wasn't completely "blown away" like other reviewers (maybe they need to get out more lol)!! Menu boasts burgers are made from Pat LaFrieda meats...if you don't know what that means look them up! So my cheddar burger was decent...okay flavor & cooked to my liking. Onion rings were light & tasty...fries were odd & I didn't care for their coating. Ambience was plain Jane, service was fine. It's def not a sexy, hip place...I think the atmosphere could use some work! Oh & don't come here in a rush because as other reviews stated, kitchen works at a snails pace. We came at lunchtime & only one table was taken. And that dude was pissed as he waited 30 minutes for his burger & it was overcooked! Chef came out & apologized but when ur in a rush on your lunch hour, "I'm sorry" doesn't quite help!

Went last Saturday night for date night. Wasn't planning on it but we had gone to Masons cellar for a tasting and then saw the burger place and thought why not. First never go if they're having a large party seated. They had a party of about 16 and all separate checks, ordered at different times and was a mess. No one else got quick service. We sat at the bar and placed our order at 6:45 and got it close to 7:30. Yep. That large table. The servers couldn't have been nicer and more apologetic. Everything is cooked fresh it's a small place and it was worth the wait. I had the Americano with sautéed onions and shrooms and it was pretty juicy fresh delicious. Hubby had the Filipino and remarked it was quite tasty and unique. He had a side of onion rings - and too tasty to apparently share one. I had the fries which are coated with something. To make them even more yummy- we totally got a side of the banana ketchup. Oh wow! You get 1 extra star just for that! Starts out ketchup taste followed by heat then the smoothness of a plantain. Um yum Each burger was $9 Sides and toppings extra Only complaint I have is the slow speed out of the kitchen because of that large group and my burger sure was salty. I don't eat bread and so may have been ok if bread had sopped up a little. Who knows. Will definitely return. Want to try that chicken sandwich.

I couldn't even wait to leave this place without writing a review. I got the chicken sandwich, but per the lovely waitress' recommendation, I added some mozzarella cheese and a side of marinara to make a delicious chicken parm burger. Not only was our waitress extremely helpful, but it's so rare to see staff so genuinely excited about their menu, as our server was. As other yelpers suggested, I ordered the banana ketchup, but found it a tad too spicy for my taste. For dessert we ordered the special, blueberry crumble! It's gorgeous, but I'm just not a crumble person, so I can't hold that again them. The fiancé enjoyed it though! For a local burger place, I'm very impressed and will be returning for sure!

Came in on a Sunday night around 7PM. Only 1 other table filled, but that quickly changed. I ordered the chicken sandwich topped with mac and cheese, and my boyfriend got the Americano burger with a fried egg on top. The chicken sandwich was out of this world. Super cripsy and flavorful, and the mac was a great addition. The Americano was perfectly cooked, and tasted equally as amazing. Total for the 2 burgers and fries with tip came around 30$. Not bad for quality food. Definitely a new favorite.

What a great find, 10 minutes from MetLife Stadium and the Meadowlands. Bergen Burger takes their food to a gourmet level and holds it there for all to take a big bite. The burgers are blended short rib, beef and pork, expertly cooked and served on toasted brioche rolls. Fantastic; such a better taste than the usual beef alone. On the side, fries are good, but the rings are even scrumptious-ier. Pickles, like the ice creams, are homemade. If you're in this area, this is a great choice. Friendly service and quaint decor.

I came here for dinner tonight and had a good experience. They had seating outside which was nice. Service was super friendly. Our waitress was very helpful. I ordered the mexican burger with banana ketchup. It was tasty. Cooked perfectly. The handcut fries were a nice side. Next time i would like to try the italian with mozz cheese. Overall, a pretty good burger.

DELICIOUS! I ordered a classic burger and fries and I'm confident in saying that it was one of the top 5 burgers/fries I've ever had. YUM! Tempura battered fries? YES PLEASE. The atmosphere is ehh...BYOB is nice but it's not nice enough to feel like a date night. Whatever, the taste of the food makes it worth it : )

I tried the Mexican burger with cheddar cheese, a side of fries, and banana ketchup. You won't go wrong if you order this, too. The burger is seasoned so well I didn't need to add any additional condiments. The fries were also fried and crisped perfectly. They seemed to play a lot of 80's music while I was eating. I was somewhat amenable to this. Not sure if that's an all-the-time thing or if I was just...lucky.

Great little find. BYOB, friendly service. The Mexicano burger doesn't look like much at first glance, but it tastes incredible. Great fries to boot. Would recommend.

You should try this place - but expect to wait for your food. This burger was the best burger I had in awhile. I had the Mexican? burger with egg and guacamole. I am a sucker for egg on a burger. This hit every pleasure point for me. The meat was rare and juicy. My egg broke and left a luxurious golden sauce on my burger and my plate. Yes, please. My fries rolled around in this mixture of meat juice and egg. These fries - they are perfect. It reminded me of when I was eating steak frites in Paris. They were crispy outside, soft inside, and when they picked up that yolk-burger juice, nirvana. Back to the burger - I was very satisfied. It was maybe a little too spicy but whatev, YMMV. The whole thing was a delightful mess in my hands as a good burger should be. There were a couple of things that were not perfect. First, we waited forever for our food. There was a table of 8, and all their food was served first, so we ended up staying for 2 hours. I heard this was an issue, so we ordered the pork belly sliders to take the edge off. Well, the sliders did not come out until 10 min before the burgers! We waited 45 minutes for any food at all. And then the large table kept ordering more onion rings, and then they told us they had no more to fill our orders. I had heard the onion rings were amazing so this was really disappointing. I think you see a trend here - the kitchen is not quite ready yet. It is too small or understaffed or something. But whoever IS in there is on to something.

Wow! Thoroughly impressive. Super fresh meat. Super juicy burger. I was surprised at how good and yummy this burger was. I had my doubts and thought that all the 5 star reviews were "friendly" but trust me when I say that this burger is legit. Officially is now top two in this area for me. Friendly service. Simple menu. When I say the meat was so fresh I'm talking FRESH! Juices were flowing and glowin! I made it Jersey style and added sautéed onions, blue cheese and bacon on mine. So yummy. I can say it's better than the Smash Burger Jersey burger. Much better than Zin. This place is a must for burger lovers and I wish I came here earlier!

Id give it 5 stars but the fact that every time i've been here they took at least 40 minutes to bring out my food. Tonight, i ordered the pulled pork and the waiter took 15 minutes after we ordered before he told us that they were out. They rarely have the pork which is at least 3 of their very small menu dinners. The burger is fantastic, but can't say that about the pork since I've never tried it. their always out and it shouldnt take 40 minutes to bring out 2 burgers. So i guess i'm not happy at all with everything overall and for the record i do believe good food isn't cooked in 5 minutes but too long of a wait.

Okay, so The folks at Bergen Burger decided to revamp their menu and boy did they do a great job! Now permanent options are the chicken and pulled pork sandwiches (both of which make my life difficult since I have too many sandwiches to pick from!) and their newest addition - ONION RINGS! I warn you now, they are addictive. Once again, chef putting his own flair on these, making them all his own. Just awesome. Last but not least, the caramel stuffed zeppoles. I'm actually at a loss for words on these things, they are just that good.

Reading other's reviews brought me here. I'm not from around here so it's hard to find decent restaurants. It was pretty underwhelming to be honest. I ordered the Filipino burger and fries with the banana ketchup. The burger was well over-cooked and didn't blow my hair back. There was some decent seasoning going on, but not enough to save the final product. The fries were very good, crispy and the best thing on the plate. The banana ketchup wasn't too bad, again, a little over hyped in my opinion. The staff were very nice and everything was brought out in a timely manner. I'd give this place another chance if I was local. Maybe it was a one time occurrence seeing all the other positive reviews.

Yes Round 2 it is and I was just here 3 days ago...I came back for the Chicken Sandwich with chipotle aioli (flavored mayo) and OMG....the seasoning and how it's fried to perfection with the nice touch of the sauce was amazing!! Not greasy at all. I enjoyed every bite! This is a must have!! It's that awesome! My husband and I split our sandwiches and he had the Mexicano Burger. It was just as delicious but to be honest I was so happy to order the chicken sandwich! And of course I had the fries....love love love those with the truffle sauce! And I forgot to add in my last review. Spread the truffle sauce if you decide to order a Filipino Burger with sautéed onions. Again a nice touch! I will definitely come back because Chef Jerome mentioned a possible Korean Style Burger is in the works....you know I will be there to try it!

They were out of everything so I didn't have a choice but to get the Filipino burger, it was ok, nothing special about it really. I don't know why they separated everything( lettuces tomato and onion was in a separate bag). I paid $16 for a burger and some fries! I'm not sure if I would come here again. Way overpriced for no reason.

We stopped in to Bergen Burger semi-on a whim the other evening. Simple menu with limited choices, but everyone was happy with their meals. The fresh onion rings were a favorite among the table as was the aioli (people put it on the burgers and were dipping the fries in it). I went with the Filipino burger and while it wasn't a totally surprising change, I did enjoy the unique seasoning on it. I went with just some sautéed onions on it so I could get a feel for what it was. I tried my girlfriend's chicken sandwich, and while I'm not much of a mayo fan (it had the aioli on it), I'd definitely like to give it a try. Nicely fried and very juicy (uses a chicken thigh). While I wouldn't rave about it, you can get a solid burger there.

Had to stop in after finding out about this place via a Yelp email. I'll reinforce what most others have said here...very friendly staff, very cool vibe and awesome food. I had the chicken sandwich with a fried egg, fries and banana ketchup (think ketchup but with some chiles and banana blended in, awesome) Everything came out quick and everything was delicious. I can easily see this becoming a once-a-week place for lunch...and that it's a byo, for dinner it's a slam dunk.

Looking at the reviews, I had high expectations of this place. Especially since it is one of the few burger joints around. The atmosphere is quite nice and the waitress was very friendly. The burger looked amazing when it came in. However, I was quite disappointed when I asked for a well done burger and got a rare burger instead. I took a bite and the flavor was good but I could not eat it. It wasn't even medium well but completely pink inside. The fries were good but nothing special. I'm very disappointed and will not be going there again.

Words cant describe how amazingly good this place is. I made a yelp accound just for this place. LOL. I got an italiano with mozz and it tasted like a meatball just like our waitress said it would taste like. I didnt pit the marinara on it but i dipped my fries in it and it was so good. I was the first person to get a piece of their homemade cheesecake and I kid you not, AH-EFFING-MAZING!!!! Their zeppoles are amazing too however I need a rehab for their goodness. I'm such a dessert person. LOL. A must go visit! I will definitely be back.

The food was fresh, well presented, and moderately inexpensive. The service was kind and conscientious. My wife and myself were accompanied by a friend, and all three of us said that we would be going back. The burgers, being made of ground short rib meat, were tasty, and not just the same old same old. Good job!

Stellar Burger! That's what this burger joint should be called. I s%*tyounot: a better hamburger can not be found in NJ. I have only lived in Rutherford for a few months but have sampled the owners Jerome and Ernie's food many times. Because they fresh grind their meat in-house, the beef taste is phenomenal. Do you like fries? They rock here too. I am usually not fan of battered fries, but they are done just right. And speaking of frier food, I have never had an onion ring that is this good. They always come out crispy but never greasy. How do they do that? I even sampled their fish n chips. The cod was delicious and I was so glad I did not fudge up by not ordering a Burger that time. Unfortunately I can only get my 3-year old to eat their Mac 'n cheese (baconed or plain). Don't get me wrong, it is certainly as astoundingly yummy as the rest of the fare, but why can't my toddler appreciate a perfectly flavored, medium rare, beefburger? If you like hamburgers specifically or just comfort food in general then you are doing your palate and your tummy a disservice if you don't try Bergen Burger (at least once PER month)!

Phenomenal burger joint. I was going to deduct a star because the fries weren't up to par with the amazing burger and the place is justttt a bit too expensive for a casual burger. However, what the hell, I enjoyed it so much that I don't care. Fresh, fresh, fresh. That's the keyword here. They stress on the menu that this isn't some groundbeef patty from Shoprite. These are combinations of short ribs and other meats, as well as different types of spices depending on what you get. So far I've gotten the Italian patty and Filipino, and the difference is noticable and delicious for both. Also, the ciabatta bun is great as well. Again, all ingredients come off as nothing less than fresh. Also, I'm a huge "sauce" person, and the homemade sauces are delicious: Chipolte aioli, truffle aioli and banana ketchup were all top notch. Gladly will pay a few dollars more for such quality.

Ok ok ok hold up. Their onion rings? Fantastic. Good burgers too. Nice little spot. Kinda pricey but cut them some slack, rent is probably high as hell in Rutherford. Listen, just go.

This is my first time eating here and yes I'm giving Bergen Burger five stars right of the bat. My boyfriend Rob and I were in the mood for a burger and found this place on Yelp so we decided to check it out. We ordered food to go and we both chose the Americano burger. Rob had his medium rare with cheddar and bacon. I had mine done medium with Swiss and fried onions. Theses burgers were heavenly. They both were cooked to our liking and we loved every bite. The buns are fresh and soft. We also ordered the fries with a side of the truffle ailoi sauce. I mean no disrespect when I say this, but the fries look and taste a little on the funny side BUT that's what makes them so fricken good. I know that doesn't make sense. But the fries are awesome. It's a tiny place but it's really cute inside. It is a byob and as of right now there are no tvs just in case anyone wanted to go there to watch sports or something. The prices for the burgers are decent but they cost more if you add on sauce, cheese, etc. Our bill was $27 and well worth it. I guess the only bad thing to say is that the menu is small. Other than that we are so glad we checked out this place.

The food is better than the service. The waitress that took our order is an absolute space cadet. She had no clue if the restaurant she works in has regular mustard or what the "special sauce" is even though she claimed it was her favorite. She took our order while sticking her tongue ring out her mouth. Nice. The food is good if they get the order right. I ordered my burger medium and it came out bleeding. My girl ordered her burger medium-well and that came out medium. The table behind us had issues as well. Their order was not correct and had to be sent back. There were only 7 other patrons in the place and half the people had issues with their food. Too bad for the poor service. The food is really good once they get it right.

This is the best burger joint in the area. By far. The fries and onion rings were both exceptional. Their home-brewed iced tea and fresh squeezed lemonade are both incredibly good, as well. But the real star of the show is the absolutely phenomenal meat mixes they use. I was amazed that there was such variation in the patty flavors. My only quibble is that they get some normal plates. I felt bad for the waitress because it was a major balancing act to get our fries and onion rings onto our table intact. The wooden thingy they use wasn't really conducive to the knife-and-forkers that their burgers are either.

This place is truly awesome! My carnivorous husband fully enjoyed his Americano burger (I had to stop him from ordering another one) and I loved the homemade veggie burger. The fries and the onion rings are super crispy without being greasy. It is a family run business and they are super friendly!

The chicken sandwich is amazing! Chicken thigh fried in deliciousness on a brioche bun with aioli truffle sauce. The fries are one of a kind. The service is spot on and friendly. All around great place!

This place is my all time favorite for Chicken Sandwiches! It's a burger place but to date I haven't tried a burger because I just love the chicken sandwiches haha! Oh and the special sauce is so amazing for the fries! The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. So far we've been here like 5 times, I hope the food stays yummy!

Come to Bergen Burger! Quality burgers and great staff! The fusion of Filipino flavors and dishes is an awesome touch. Chef Jerome is doing an amazing job. I'll always come to Bergen Burger for sure!

Excellent everything - service, food, atmosphere. I had chicken burger and onion rings. Chicken is deep fried thigh which was juicy, flavorful and super crispy. This was the best chicken burger I have ever had. Bacon that I got on the burger were very thick hearty slices. Very tasty! Onion rings were extremely crispy on the outside, yet soft on inside. Just perfect! Get homemade banana ketchup - it's spicy and very flavorful! Will definitely be a repeat customer!

So I have been hearing a lot of good things about this place so I finally got to go today. And WOW! The burger was fantastic! I think I have now found my new favorite burger place. I ordered the Filipino burger, but I didn't add the egg and bacon but I think I will next time. The flavor was so rich and the glazed onion pieces were unreal. If you like burgers then you must try this place out. I like it even more than Shake Shack and Five Guys burgers which I didn't think it was possible. Bergen Burger is not too big and just off the main drag which makes it easy to find a parking space. Only bad - No Shakes...yet. They said they will have shakes soon so can't wait to try that out. Can't wait to go back!

Last night I was craving for some good, juicy, well prepared burger with some fries and onion rings!!! This is a new place and looking at reviews I've decided to give it a try. Let me tell you how good and delicious it was. Burgers were made to perfection. Ingredients fresh and our sides beats all other burger places. Will definitely come back to try other ones for sure. Staff was nice and helpful which makes our experience much better. I came out full and satisfied!!!

Great local spot. The chef is using top notch ingredients. I love the banana ketchup. Burgers are fantastic! We ordered a chicken sandwich which was tasty. The fries are yummy. I like that they are doing them differently then other places and not buying commercial french fries. I hate that. Staff was so friendly and knowledgeable which was so nice to see. We do take out but wish the place had more personally, better lighting and we'd eat in and bring some beer. Glad to have them in close proximity. Support local people of Rutherford and near by towns so we get better food to eat.

The burgers are pretty damn good. I'm not much of a burger connoisseur but in comparison to popular Bergen Ctys burger spots - shake shack, bobby flays and five guys... Hands down this place gets top billing. In my opinion, what really brings out the burger are the accompaniments. I got bacon and sauteed onions. I would be happy with even just that on their bun.. and the fries? AAAAMMMMAAAZZZING.. it is already seasoned but dip it in truffle aioli - OMG... They also have a bread pudding for dessert. I think they change the flavor every few days (??) It tastes homemade and obviously made with love.. so much better than the supersweet factory made cakes/pastries most restaurants offer. I'm so happy we are getting modern restaurants in my neck of Bergen County.

I live close enough to walk here and have already had it twice since learning about it 3 days ago. I fully expect to be a regular for as long as this place stays open. Pros: The actual burger patties are well seasoned, good enough to eat plain. The guacamole is better than that made at the Mexican cafe around the corner. The service has been great on my visits, something hard to come by at most Rutherford restaurants. Could be a bit better: I love how the fries are made with the coating, but they seem to hold a lot more oil than most fries, making them quite heavy to eat, and leaving an oily aftertaste. I was told the burgers are cooked medium. Of the three patties I have had, one was cooked a perfect medium. The other two were just short of well done. If you say yes to a pickle, instead of slices, which I would expect for a burger, you get a spear, which I would expect at a deli. It's the kind that still tastes 80% like a cucumber. I suppose that might be the "gourmet" style of pickle, but for my taste, it is not at all what I want on (or next to) my burger. I also tried the salted caramel pudding which was offered as a special. I think it might have been good, but the portion was so small I only had 3 bites, not enough to even form an opinion. In volume, it was 1/4 cup. Still, while I probably will not order the fries and I definitely will not be ordering phantom desserts, I will still be going back again and again for the burgers.

Wow! Never though we live in Rutherford, my boyfriend and I were slow getting here. But we'll be back! My boyfriend just got a basic cheeseburger and fries, but he absolutely loved it. I got the veggie burger, which, though pretty messy, was tasty. The fries and onion rings were also good. I definitely recommend this place!

I love this place. I find it a bit over priced but if you can afford it, it is worth it. Thats why its called comfort food! I never go when it is really busy. Also i always taught french fries would come with my burger but not here. Fries are extra. Thats part of why i think it is a bit over priced. But the burgers are DELICIOUS! I would give it a 3 stars but the freshness of the burger makes it worth 4 stars.

I had The Americano burger. This burger was absolutely amazing. It also travels amazing well so pick up is a definite possibility with this place. The fries are great as well. They are thick and just the right amount of salt. I usually take my fries with ketchup but these don't even need that. Will deffinately return.

Fantastic food and great service! I don't have 1 bad thing to say about them! The burgers don't need any extra sauce or items, so fresh and tasty!

  • Emily L.

Pros: love the presentation and the sauce on the side option. Nice casual spot for dinner. Great patty, really tasty and fresh. Was delicious plain on the brioche bun. Cons: my friend and I both ordered medium and hers was brown and mine was bleeding. Onion rings are hard to eat, too crispy, kind of stabbed your mouth.

I've been here a couple times with friends and its very good! I had the chicken sandwich and it was juicy and well seasoned. My friends have tried a couple different burgers and loved them. The onion rings are my fav! Not a mouthful of breading like most places. Light and tasty! Fries are different but very good too! The zeppoles were good but would be better if they weren't served cold. Also got the artichokes which were ok but a little bland. And the mac-n-cheese tasted like Kraft so don't expect a really good bowl of it. Probably fine as a topping tho. Service isn't the best but the waitresses are friendly. Just bring your own beverage because you won't be asked if you would like a refill. I asked twice for another lemonade and never got it. They could use an experienced front of house manager who has waitressed because there is no experience there currently. At one point there was no one there because the waitresses all left and walked across the street. Came back smelling like cigarettes. Overall, the food is great but front of house needs to get act together. Oh, it would be AWESOME if they added a turkey burger!

Ate at Bergen Burger last Saturday. I have to honestly say that the Mexican burger I had was the best burger I've ever had! The juices weren't dripping out, but remained in the burger. The meat was tasty and moist. I had also ordered a side of guacamole. It was creamy and went well with the burger. I was warned that the Mexican burger can get spicy. It was perfect and cooked exactly to my specification. The brioche bun was excellent. My friend had a plain burger and fries. It came with pickle, lettuce, tomato and raw onion. I tasted the fries, but they were way too salty for my liking. Glad I didn't order them. This is a small place. They pretty much stick to burgers. I'd rather have fewer menu choices cooked excellently, than more choices that are mediocre. The chef came out and personally talked to everyone in the place. He told me that he uses a mix of brisket and sirloin to keep a good balance of lean to fat. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items! Make that 4 and a half stars. I took off for the over salted fries. I hope they keep doing what they are best at.

This place is a hidden gem in Rutherford. The burger rivals the big names like Zinburger and Bobby's, but you get a more hometown feel. The service was personal. Oh, definitely get the fries!

I'm so happy I decided to check this place out before moving out of my Rutherford apartment. I will definitely be back even though I'll be living in Hoboken soon. First- the service. Our waitress Jessica was awesome. Not realizing how late it was, we went in about half hour before closing with a bottle of wine. As someone who's been in the business a while, I know how fast I would've rolled my eyes at the sight of a couple coming in so late. But not Jessica. I felt bad and offered to order our food to-go, but she was so nice and accommodating that I didn't feel uncomfortable staying. Kudos to Jess for being patient, attentive, and friendly. Now onto the food. We started with the artichoke special. YUM. I don't know why more places don't fry artichokes. But the real star was the burger. I looooove me a good burger. Since it was my first time i had to keep it basic so I ordered the classic Americano with American cheese. Also had the fries with truffle aioli. Jess recommended the Filipino burger for my friend which I tasted and it was delicious! My burger was cooked to a PERFECT medium. Juicy, flavorful, and fresh. The fries were outstanding and don't even get me started on the truffle aioli. Must. Try. Truffle. Aioli. Soooo good. The Filipino was really flavorful, but just a heads up to you medium rare fans out there, the Filipino has pork in it so they can only cook it med well plus. This doesn't change the juiciness however. Overall, it was a great experience. Food was awesome, totally worth the few extra bucks you'd pay for fast food somewhere inferior. The place itself is bright and cute, plus great service. Oh, and byob is always a huge plus. It's also right across from Mason's Cellar so go grab yourself a bottle of wine or some craft beer and give this place a try. It's absolutely the best burger you'll have for miles. A+ Can't wait to experiment with the rest of the menu next time

What a little hidden secret in Ruthordord NJ, these burgers are wowing with flavor!!! If you're looking for a clean nice little place to sit down and enjoy a great burger and awesome fries, this place is it! Okay this place might be a hidden gem but hopefully not for long! Great burgers and great fries! Quality and taste and for a very good price. Definitely worth checking these guys out - and that's coming from a burger fanatic! Glad I stumbled across this place, will be back soon enough.

I got the Americano burger with cheddar and grilled onions and it was very flavorful. Fries were delicious, especially when dipped in the truffle aioli. My husband loved the turkey burger with red pepper ketchup and coleslaw piled on. He had the onion rings which he described as crispy, but not enough onion. Child thoroughly enjoyed the mac & cheese with bacon. Will definitely be coming back!

  • Al C.

Simple burger place, they have a decent patty, brisket and chuck if I remember correctly. The grilled onions reminded me of how zinburger's onions taste. If you specify it to be cooked medium, there might be some potential. The fries are interesting... not bad though, just coated, which I also don't get why.

  • Catherine T.

great prices for great tasty juicy burgers...fries were great too! its nice having a different burger options instead of the boring burger king, fast food joints,...just one or two dollars more and you got a quality taste burger.... my mother had the veggie burger which she enjoyed and I had the filipino burger

  • Sal C.

Pricey burger but worth every cent and more. I ordered takeout and I love the way they separate the tomato, lettuce and onions to avoid wilting. The onion rings were excellent too. Friendly staff and the place is spotless including the bathroom. I'll be back.

Bummed that they were out of veggie burgers, but Report from my friend on the Americano burger was good. had onion rings and shared in the french fries, with sauces, cheese and chipotle. Onion rings are really amazing! Definitely worth your time and dollars.

  • Dan M.

I had an Americano with cheddar cheese and onion rings on it with a side of fries and the zepoles for dessert. Both of them, along with the starch coated fries were fantastic. The prices are a little high but the food is phenomenal. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying a mac and cheese burger!

Food was great. I've been twice. First time I had a burger with blue cheese. It was amazing. Very juicy. The bun was very nice breoche bun. Next time I went I had the chicken sandwich and it was a piece of heaven. Next time I go ill try the filipino burger. The desert was very good to. Caramel pudding.

I'll be back to try the Chicken Sandwich. Did an order for pickup and it was nice to have the lettuce, tomato, onion package separately. It's a nice place to eat in as well it seems. Will give it a go at some point hopefully.

Ordered a burger medium with cheese and fries. The burger was dry and overcooked. I do not send food back so I ate what I could. I don't understand why they coat hand cut fries. Why mess with that? The coating was just strange and didnt add anything to the fry. The aoli was ok for 1.50 extra. Meal totaled out at over 15 dollars..

The place is different, and different can be good. I had the Americano burger with onion rings. The burger here was delicious, and they offer student discounts for high school and college students. The food tasted fresh and unique. Will come back to try something else.

  • Travis K.

Great burger. Big patty that has great flavor to it. The fries were ok, but that's my personal preference. they're coated fries which i didn't like as much as regular ones. a little on the pricey end as far as burgers go, but they are really good so you pay for what you get.

My Family and I went to Bergern Burger upon the recommendation of other Yelp Reviewers and it exceeded expectations. In general, the quality and taste the food surpasses any burger place I have been to. The difference is that the chef takes a lot of time and considerations when writing the menu and picking the ingredients. The staples, burgers fries, onion rings, even the pickles are all delicious. The chef seems to takes everything up notch with incredibly lightly fried onion rings, amazingly crispy hand cut fries and brioche buns. Then, they add gourmet touches like flavored alolis and guacamole. This is not your average burger joint but the prices are very reasonable. Next time we need to bring some beer or wine so we can properly savor the meal.

Hidden gem on a side street with delicious food. We tried the chicken sandwich - southern-style fried chicken thigh (yes, juicy dark meat!) on a perfectly toasted brioche bun with truffle aioli. The onion rings were super crispy (maybe an egg white-based batter?) and the bacon mac & cheese was rich and delicious. Looking forward to going back to try their burgers.

Stopped in today for the first time. It was lunch time around 1pm and we were the only ones in the place. The server was so nice, super attentive, and eager to make recommendations! The food was delicious. My fiance and I split everything; we ordered the pulled pork sandwich, the filipino burger, and the potato and cheese soup that they had on the specials board. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. It's not your traditional pulled pork, but I wasn't expecting it to be. It was moist and tender with a sweetness to it, but not overly sweet. The Filipino burger was very good. I love the spices that they put in it, spruces up your traditional burger. And, although they only serve it medium-well due to the pork in the burger (we typically like our burgers medium/med-rare), the burger was still very moist. The pricing seems fair, although I feel like they should just have a bottle of banana ketchup on each table along with the regular ketchup, rather than charging $1 a ramekin (You can get a whole bottle for not much more than $1). Either way, we will definitely be back when we are craving a non-traditional burger!!

Check out this hidden spot that just opened up in Rutherford, NJ. There are alot of burger places opening up but once you come here and try the burgers and food you will taste the freshness and difference. They make their burgers and fries fresh! Meats from local meat supplier that has great rep! I recently tried the fried chicken sandwich with truffle Aoli sauce, I added a beef pattie in my sandwich! I luv the flexiblity you have to get your sandwich the way you want! Order lots of fries! tasty! BYOB...can't beat that!

Excellent food and friendly owners. Jerome puts a lot of love into his dishes and it shows - every detail is paid attention to. Their chicken sandwich is the best I've ever had. Brioche buns are delicious, and the onion rings were amazing, light on breading and super crispy. Will continue to frequent this establishment and hope others follow suit, making this a gem of Rutherford.

The food was terrific! Everything was super fresh and made with great care and detail. I had the burger and my wife had the veggie burger. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly and we shared an order of fries and onion rings. The hand cut fries were out of this world! Some of the best ever! Ernie the chef/owner came out to greet us and said they grind and prepare their own meat so you're not getting frozen reheated patties. Even the little things didn't miss a beat, from the side pickles to the brioche burger buns, toppings and dipping sauces - the aioli sauces were a revelation! And the sole dessert the night we ate, salted caramel pudding was creamy smooth and the right balance of salty sweet. If there was any negative it would have to be the service. We ate at 7 on a Saturday night, the place was half full, yet our server, though nice, wasn't attentive. Not a big gripe and certainly not enough to keep us from a return visit and we live 30 minutes away!

$60 bucks I can never get back. Idk if it's their style to burn everything but the veggie burger was burnt. The bottom of all the buns were burnt totally black. The pulled pork was dry, overly salty and they ran out of the slaw that goes on it. How do you serve someone, something you don't have everything for? I wouldnt of ordered it if i had known. I think they served us most of the leftovers from the day before. We got two truffle aioli sauces they tasted totally different. One like plain mayo the other like it should. My husband did like their chicken sandwich it was fresh but not worth $9 bucks. The food took too long to come out. Honestly, I'm really disappointed this places food was no better than a crappy buffet. Adding insult to injury the waitress said she'd give us a discount for their slip up with my meal. They gave us a $1.50 off. Oh too kind! I forgot to add their website said they open at 3:00 on Sundays when we walked in they looked at us like we had two heads. We asked are you open? They said "no, we open at 3:30. Hope they change that.!
