i am so disappointed in Forte's treatment of us I am beyond words. We used to go here a lot, haven't been in a while, may not go back. My husband and I were there last night, we were almost ignored as the wait staff tripped and fawned over an elderly couple that must be regulars there. They got a server to come to the table to take their order (we were all seated outside) and we were told we had to go inside to the counter to place our order, They got water in real glasses with slices of lemon even, we got water is disposable lidded paper cups with staws. They got real cloth napkins, we got paper, they got bread in a nice basket, we got it on a plate....ok small stuff. But then my meal came out BURNED, and no one ever came to ask if everything was ok to which I would have showed them my BURNED dinner. I am so disappointed, I really used to love this place, I'll go back when I feel like being treated like a second class citizen again. Thanks for a not nice Saturday night dinner out with my husband Forte.

No stars for this joint! Hot antipasto was a pile of stuff couldn't distinguish one thing from another slathered in gravy mozzarella en carroza slopped together. This place makes Olive Garden look 4 Michelin stars

First of all, BYOB! On to the food... we had calamari for appetizers, and a few different dishes. I had the Fusilla Alla Joe, which was super delicious. Their portions are pretty huge, even the calamari was a lot. I love the fact that my pasta was fresh. The service and staff were good, and very excited (but almost knocked over our bottle of wine). The only thing that really bothered me was our server did not know how to properly pour wine (not that our wine was anything fancy shmancy). He should have TWISTED the bottle as he LIFTED it up after pouring so the wine droplets would not go everywhere. (Especially with a large group, all the droplets of wine that dripped on the mantle could probably equate to a glass.) And, this works with anything that is bottled anyway. It's much neater. ALSOOOO, whoever our server was, he needed to enunciate and speak a little bit slower. I didn't quite catch the specials. I would give it a 3.5, but yelp doesn't like doing halfsies.

This place is dear to my boyfriend's heart but I just don't feel the same. When you serve cavatelli and broccoli in some creamy sauce and not just loads of garlic and oil (as the menu stated...) then I just can't... When I get added chicken to my dish I don't just expect chunks of chicken in my dish.. Maybe a little seasoning on the chicken ?

FORTE This is the best restaurant in the area, hands down. The service is fabulous the food very, very tasty,. This is the only restaurant in the NJ suburbs (which we have found) that compares with some of the best restaurants in NY city, I also had them cater food for my sons graduation party and the food was amazing, on time, and my guests and I were very happy, Thanks to Vinnie and his crew. MUST TRY

I haven't had the pizza here, yet - although the selection of pre-made slices all looked delicious and fresh. FOOD: I was exceptionally hungry, and on my first visit - I got one of the Egg Sandwich which was definitely good enough to split for two people. This sandwich had scrambled egg, peppers, thin sliced potatoes, sausage, pepperoni, and topped with mozzarella cheese. It reminded me of a breakfast sandwich on a roll. Make sure that if you order this, you ask for "everything" on it - this means they would give you everything ingredient (that i listed above) as on the menu description - if not, they would just give you boring old eggs and peppers on a roll. Why? Apparently, most people prefer that - than the actual offering on the menu. Another person on my table got a Cobb Salad - which seemed appetizing. Only critiques from my perspective is that - the egg in the salad had a green ring between the yolk and the white, which means that they over cooked the egg, and consequently has that exaggerated sulfury taste. Also the Avocados were slightly brown and over ripened. I'll be sure to return, and may even get the Egg Sandwich again.

We have ordered delivery from here when visiting my parents and thought the food was good. But the last time I was in Morris County, we ordered take out. I was really surprised at how nice this place is and by the variety of pizza by the slice. My bro in law always gets the Chicken Francese sandwich and my sis likes the pear and goat cheese salad. I got one of the pasta dishes with pancetta and thought it was really good. But next time, I'm ordering a slice. Not only were there several choices of toppings, but the slices looked very substantial. There is a separate formal dining area, which is probably much pricier than the pizza parlor section. I thought it was pretty neat to have both options under one roof. Pricing is reasonable and staff was very nice on the pizza parlor side. Don't know about the formal dining area as I haven't tried it. I wish a Forte would open up in Bergen County!

Went here for lunch the second day of my business trip, our hosts do a great job in knowing the local fare of this area. Not used to East coast pizza, good stuff. One slice is plenty for lunch, would definitely venture off interstate to eat there again if I make back to NJ again.

Good Old school NJ Italian BYOB. THEY USE EXCELLENT TOMATO PRODUCTS! The tomato relish that is served with the complimentary bread is the best bread dipper I have ever had. This is the classic non-pretentious NY suburbs Italian menu that is getting harder and harder to find. Shared the apps, all were good, Spidini alla Romano was a bit "bready" but the sauce was good. The Tripe was outstanding and cooked to perfection the abundant onions in the recipe were unique and a surprising sweet compliment to the stewed tripe. The cold anti was on point. had a Sea Bass special that was OK it was made with broccoli rabe and the Rabe was a bit overcooked and the sun dried tomatoes in the recipe were a little over powering. The dish was OK but not fantastic, All in All I would defiantly go back, I live in Northern VA and miss these types of Italian menus dearly, Originally from Northern NJ.

All around a great experience. Went here for a graduation party and did not leave disappointed, or hungry. We had the fresh mozz, roasted pepper, sundried app, bruschetta, pasta, fried calamari, shrimp, eggplant rollatini and finally the veal for dinner. Yes this sounds like a lot, but it was family style. First time here and definitely would come back. Service was first class.

We come here for our office meetings, and the service and food are exceptional. They've never messed up an order, they never get angry when we keep sending them back for drinks or food. I highly recommend this place.

Our favorite restaurant in the area, hands down. My family goes there at least once a month. The pizza in the lower portion is amazing, and such creative toppings. It's pricey, for pizza, but worth every penny. We first went to Forte about six years ago for a family member's birthday celebration, and our party was 12 or so. They got everything right, no issues or complaints, and great attention and service. That won us over for life. We now have our favorite waiter, "Blake," and the owner comes over to say hello when we are there. Go during the work week, and you are treated to Bruschetta as appy on the house. Prices are fair to bordering on the high side, but the portions are plentiful and the taste is perfect. Best fried Calamari in the area, in my opinion. Bread and marinara sauce are just great, and they're very good at keeping their eye on your table to ask if you'd like more BYOB, which can be a real money saver. On the weak side - the house salads are nothing to write home about. Small, uninspiring in taste. The balsamic vinegar sauces are just amazing. Seafood VERY fresh. You guys get all the entrees and most appetizers just right. My biggest pet peeve is that they go through a robust list of "specials" without ever mentioning price. I went recently and ordered the "Cowboy ribeye" special, which I never do without knowing cost. I was being treated for this meal, and my host's eyes lit up when the bill came. Never again. Note to the owner- We love your restaurant but I beg you....please .....if the wait staff can memorize and verbalize each ingredient of the special menu, they can also certainly put the price out there as well. Having to ask is embarrassing. I request, please stop the practice of going over special menu without adding cost as well. Short of that, we will see you each and every month, but will NEVER order a special again without changing your practice.

I used to work down Route 10 from Forte's and we would order takeout from them at least once a week. Their variety of food is great, as are the dishes themselves. My favorites are the Clams Posilipo (clams in a zesty white broth/sauce) for an appetizer, and I love their Lobster Agnolotti - basically large ravioli stuffed with lobster in a pink sauce (similar to vodka sauce). Their pastas are pretty good, though their linguine and clam sauce is always pretty oily. Chicken and potatoes! UGH so good! Get it over pasta and savor the starchy goodness of the brown sauce and tender chicken. I must say, one of my favorite things to do is to save leftover sauce and use it to dip bread in it. Yum! Their subs are nothing to dance over. Their meatball sub was just lacking some oomph. Oh well.. JUST A WARNING: Don't expect the same quality of food when it gets closer to closing time! They really skimp out on the good stuff and food never tastes the same at 9PM as it did at 7PM!

Love this place! The fish is delicious. Sit down with a bottle of wine and relax. Great service great food and they don't rush you. They do get very crowded but only the best do. Its definitely one of our local favorites.

I have only eaten in the formal restaurant side of Forte. The casual pizzeria side is the kind of place where you walk up to the counter and place your order. You buy by-the-slice or order a whole pie, etc. If you visit the casual side expecting to experience great service, you're delusional. It's not that kind of place. This review is about the formal restaurant part of Forte, which is a whole different deal. It's a BYO so if you want wine or beer with your dinner, you'll have to bring it. We don't mind. We've dined in the sit-down restaurant side of Forte twice and each time we've been delighted with the service and the food. Tonight, we sat outside and were waited on promptly. Our server (I wish I could recall his name because he was fantastic), was cheerful, attentive, and helpful. We ordered the Caprese salad as a starter. When it was delivered, we were surprised by the portion size. There were several extremely generous slices of fresh mozzarella (it's homemade and so fresh), nice ripe tomatoes and a few slices of sun-dried Roma tomatoes that tasted fresh as well. Perfect amount of basil shreds, the right amount of olive oil--beautiful! The bread was great too, which was served with a bowl of delicious marinara that had to be homemade. I ordered Chilean sea bass. It came perfectly prepared (not over or under cooked), resting on a bed of sautéed baby broccoli rabe and baby artichoke slices in a wonderful garlicky wine sauce. The blend of flavors was spot on. My husband ordered lobster fra diavolo over linguine. It was well-prepared with just the right amount of "fire." Sometimes fra diavolo dishes can be too spicy hot. This one was good. The lobster was good too, although just a bit overcooked, but not by much. Perfectly prepared lobster is a bit of an art. Both entrées offered generous portions of fish/seafood. We noted that with an appetizer and salads, we could have done well splitting an entree. There are many great local Italian restaurants in the area, and Forte holds its own. We're fans!

A favorite of ours! We eat at Forte at least once a month - mostly in the informal section. It is a BYOB and you go to the counter to place your order and to pay. Although the menus and silverware are placed for customers to pick up themselves, they are often brought to us. It is very informal - picture a serve yourself type of place but with very good food. Although Forte is set up for customers to go to the counter to pick up their own food, the guys who clear the tables, double as waiters and do an excellent job bringing it to us! Our favorites are the appetizers, Grandma's Pizza and the sandwiches. On occasion, we eat in the more formal section and do enjoy a great meal there. I have never tried anything that I didn't like!

My fiancé and I live right around the corner from forte which makes it out go to Italian/pizza place. We have only actually eaten in the formal dining area once and the service was good. Food is delicious. On nights where we are just too tired we like to order take out. We have done both pick up and delivery. Every time my fiancé calls and asks for delivery, they get our address wrong every single time! As many times as we've told them the right address they never seem to update it in their computer. Not a huge deal but we always count on that phone call of the delivery guy asking us where our door is! Altogether, the food is good and we always go back. The front counter people could be a bit more friendly. We love their chicken francese pizza!

For years forte was our favorite Friday night pizza place. We almost always have food delivered. But recently the service has just been awful. Orders wrong and rude employees. The quality of the food has deteriorated as well. It's a shame.

While the food is good the ceiling fans and Windows are filthy . I saw a knit hated employee cross over the counter on his butt with his feet close to the food so he could answer the phone. Where is management.

Outdoor seating a plus! The tomato sauce here is really good. Home made pasta dishes are very good. I find it a little noisy but again a plus to sit outside. The wait staff is attentive and knowable and the prices are reasonable. Can't go wrong with a byob. The menu is varied if not a little too extensive.

Uh amazing? And if you have a food allergy, they are so accommodating. The chef will make you fresh food that is allergen free. I've been to forte probably a total of 20 times and I never once had a bad meal. Not once. I totally recommend.

Not a fan! Everyone bragged about it and I only got a specialty pizza, but I was unimpressed. Plus... There was a sticker still left on my tomato! Totally unacceptable!

Well, even the die-hard fans among my in-laws have declared that Grandma's Pizza jumped the shark...watery sauce and flimsy, wet, tasteless dough have replaced the flavors they enjoyed previously. As for me, I can only say DO NOT ORDER THE SEAFOOD; between the mussels and/or calamari I was up alllllll night puking my guts out. Thanks, Forte. Burn in hell.

Horrible service - waited over 40 minutes for my slice of chicken caesar pizza which never arrived. My dinner companion received both of the slices he ordered. We brought this to the attention of 4 different staff members and when it still didn't arrive 20 minutes later, we decided to leave. When we went to pay for what we did receive, the guy at the counter very nonchalantly asked if we ever got it and didn't really seem to care that I hadn't. He offered a piss poor excuse of they "must still be grilling the chicken." I had no clue that it took 30+ minutes to grill a boneless chicken breast. Ridiculous. Avoid this place at all costs. Drive to anywhere but this place if you actually want your meal.

My wife and I have only been in the pizzeria part of the restaurant or ordered take-out. That being said, the pizza is great and the selection is great. Definitely, my favorite pizzeria at this time.

I had the pasta fagioli today and it might be the best I have ever had, anywhere. Really nice big bowl, with fresh basil and garlic. The broth was fantastic, the beans were tender but not over done. I had it on the pizza side of the restaurant and it was made to order. If you ask they will give you a good hunk of bread to go with it. I regret I did not take the bread. This was made to go with bread.

Forte used to be a favorite staple for a Friday night bite. We hadn't been in awhile so stopped in and ordered pasta Fagiole, 2 slices Grandma's pizza and mussels over pasta. The soup was so salty that I sent it back. The owner came out and told me it was the cheese I added but, after telling him that I cook and know the difference, he decided to get me another bowl. It was no better and once again he argued they add no salt so we agreed it must have been the chicken base they use to make their soups. My two slices of pizza never came so after requesting them and waiting a total of 20 minutes, I canceled them and we left and tipped our waiter because he tried to work with the arrogant counter help to get my food out. We won't go back

We were driving through the area and were drawn in by the 4 star rating and the fact that this place was packed. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. We wanted to sit in the restaurant area, but the hostess seemed stressed out by the fact that we didn't have a reservation. There were several empty tables, but she said "We're expecting to be busy so we are telling people to sit in the take-out section." I should have known there was a problem right then. We ordered and 1/2 cheese and 1/2 sausage pie and an order of penne vodka. The pizza crust was burnt and it had too much cheese, making it greasy. The penne vodka was basic and bland. We also saw them deliver a grandmother pizza that was so burnt it looked like it survived a forest fire to some pour soul. In any other part of the country this would have been considered good Italian food, but we are in Jersey, and we know good Italian food. This was not good Italian food.

Came here for a birthday dinner, had reservations for about 8 people and were seated pretty quickly in the dining area of the restaurant. Overall the food and atmosphere were very good. Our waiter (older gentlemen with an accent) was really helpful and helped pick out the dinner items. Very good choices. Both food and service were very good. The place is BYOB!

Ordered for the first time today. Pizza was not terrible but not very good. Toppings were uneven and the whole pie was soggy. Will keep trying new places. Pizza palace is supposed to be very good.

Needed to get something late on Saturday. We were happy Forte was open. But, the restaurant is far from stellar. First, it's helpful to know that there is an formal half and informal half of the restaurant. What I didn't realize was that basically in the informal half, there is no service. Sitting in the informal side, at least I had to get up from the table and order at the counter. I was surprised that the guy taking my order seemed to not understand my order, which I would expect was a pretty normal order - a greek salad and a grandma's pizza (one of their specials). We watched as staff rough housed (wrestled) behind the counter, and one busboy cleared a table, hands on the dirty plates and fingers in the used glasses (in order to carry everything), but then proceeded to immediately serve food to a table (without washing his hands), as he handled silverware and food. When we arrived, every table was dirty. We asked to be seated, and the guy behind the counter told to us to seat ourselves, and we had to tell him that every table was dirty, otherwise I assume no one would check! On the bright side, their food was good. Pizza has a nice crunchy crust, and the salad was fresh. I just didn't think the food offset the lack of or awkward service for a better rating. For us, it will make a fine takeout. We would have sat on the formal side, but our understanding is that they don't serve pizza on that side!

What a dissapointment! Restaurant was not busy, seated immediately and our order was taken right away. Mozzarella and underripe tomato appetizer finally arrived 40 minutes later. 10 minutes later our entrees arrived...but still no salads. Waitress tried to ignore us but finally came to the table to take away entrees and fetch salads- big mistake. Ceasar dressing was closer to motor oil. Brought back entrees, my medium rare filet was extremely well done. Again had to chase down the waitress who took it away and returned 15 minutes later with a purple centered filet after my husband was finished with his seafood pasta. Showed the waitress the undercooked filet, no response. To add insult to injury we were charged $30 for a meal I never could eat, and not even offered anything to make up for a ruined diner. This used to be one of our favorite dinner spots, always had a line. I should have bee tipped off when there was no line at 7:30 on a Friday night. I will never go back.

Met with group of friends for dinner on Sunday evening. The staff was very accommodating and polite. The food was tremendous. I had ordered take out from there several times but this was the first time dining in and I will definitely be back again. My pasta with shrimp, sun dried tomatoes, asparagus and garlic was amazing. Everyone in my group of 9 loved their meal.

Have to agree with Pamela W's review from a month ago. When we first moved to this area 8 years ago this place was amazing. When friends and family wanted Italian food there was never a question as to where to go. We were always there. But Pamela is right. Service and food has continued to decline. In fact, we recently had our daughter's birthday party at a local business close by. Pizza, we were told, was provided by Forte. (Ugh) My husband wanted to get the pizza somewhere else but I thought it'd be a hassle and fought him on that. I told him we should give Forte's another try. It had been so long since we'd eaten there. I thought perhaps things might have changed for the better. No. Should have listened to hubby. The pizza (two pies) arrived not only late but terribly burnt and ridiculously small, and had hardly any cheese on them. We had so much pizza left over because the kids didn't want to eat it which we couldn't blame them for. Awful. Forte's should be ashamed of themselves. Their prices are unbelievably high for the quality of food they provide and the atrocious service you receive when you go OR CALL there. The staff behind the counter is unbelievably rude and should take a lesson on how to greet and speak to customers. Fortunately, we have since found another amazing pizzeria within a mile or so that charges $10(!!!!) for their incredible pies -- slices/pies are huge, wonderfully cheesy and never burnt. Tisk, tisk, Forte. It's no wonder your newly expanded parking lot which was once so hard to find a spot in, seems so empty these days.

All around a great place with great food and service. They give you a "pizza feel" or step upstairs for something a bit dressier. I normally stick to a grilled chicken salad for lunch but everything is great and the staff is super helpful. Without a doubt worth the drive from my office in parsippany.

Came here on an invitation from the g/fs college friend. It was her bday. For a pizzeria, it's pretty nice, especially being 1 1/2 NYC. Everything was great, however, the balsamic chicken looked like it had been covered with asphalt. Nonetheless, I'd come back just for the ginger calamari.

Excellent pizzeria! Forte makes great pizza, from your run of the mill plain, basic toppings, to their Mamas Pie or Bruschetta pizza. Great for a quick bite but if you are in the mood for a nice sit down Italian dinner you can't go wrong. Don't expect a high end Italian meal but your not going to get the typical bad pizzeria dinners that most places serve. There is a decent sized dining area for dinners and more formal lunches as well as a pizzeria type area with TV's always showing some sporting event. The atmosphere is very inviting and comfortable. If your dinning in make sure to bring you own alcohol.

Went for lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday and were seated immediately in the dining room - we did not have a reservation. We should have eaten in the pizza area. There was a large party of about 20 people and another table of 4 and us. We were given our menu, water and bread immediately. However, it took about 15 minutes for the waiter to return to take our order. We each had soup (scratitella, and one escarole and bean) - both soups were amazing. Our entrees came about 15 minutes later - pasta primavera with chicken and lobster ravioli agnotti. Both dishes were excellent. After our plates were cleared, we waited for the dessert menu. After 20 minutes, I got up to ask one of the two waiters for the dessert menu that was then brought to us. Since it was my friends birthday, we decided to share a dessert. However, after 25 minutes passed and no waiter appeared to take our order, we decided to just get the check. Another 15 minutes passed and no one bothered to come take the dessert order or bring the check so we finally got up to go to the pizza area to pay when the waiter appeared. We said we wanted to leave and pay so he quickly rang us up. Service was AWFUL!!!!!! Food was delicious. But the time we spent for lunch was ridiculous. Luckily, we did to have to go back to work! May I add that we arrived at 11:45 and did not leave till 2:30

Everything we have ever ordered has been fabulous! Everyone we bring agrees. There is a casual pizza side and a beautiful metro contemporary dining room which is lovely. Good service, so many choices and the portions are very generous. And it's a BYOB , so it's even better! Go enjoy a delicious Italian meal... You won't be sorry! PS: best Caesar salad EVER!!!

I've had a decent slice there before for lunch but last week I ordered a dinner entree for take out. The WORST eggplant rolatini I've ever had. It was inedible...chewy and tough, drowning in a watery sauce. So, I'm turned off from them. If you go there, stick with pizza and sandwiches.

  • Carolyn H.

Excellent food, great service but I will say if you plan on going on a Friday or Saturday night, get there EARLY...like 5:30-6:00 early or you will wait. The staff was very personable and attentive and we didn't feel rushed. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass special that they offer on weekends and it did not disappoint. My husband had the special black linguini with seafood and it was first rate. And we both had enough to take home for lunch the next day. We shared the house-made bread pudding and it was fantastic - warm, creamy and cinnamonny - YUM. If things get busy, you always have the option to eat in the less formal pizzeria section and order from the same menu.

Was here as part of a large group. The menu consisted of bread, bruschetta, penne in vodka sauce, salad, and veal with mushrooms. I thought the food was solid and the staff was pretty attentive. I would come back if in the area again.

Well....... I must have been in a good mood tonight, because if not I probably would have gotten up and left. Met some good friends for a nice easy meal so we were all happy and not particularly in a rush. The place was packed. The staff was polite and knowledgable but...we weren't given a menu for each person, and an appetizer plate and water glass were missing as well. Our waiter was great, but without a good crew behind him, there wasn't much he could do. By the time the food was brought out to our table we had been seated for a full Hour and a half. That's a long time to wait for food. Drinks also took a while to be refilled. They did however manage to clear the empty plates immediately and bring out the check within minutes. The food was reasonably priced. The portions were generous and for Italian food, it was better than average for the area. As was mentioned in many of the reviews, the noise level is uncomfortably loud. They really need to invest in some sound dampening technology. It's not that expensive and it would make a huge difference. It was hard to hear the person sitting right next to you. Conversation across the table was not possible. All in all, I enjoyed my meal, but the wait and the noise end up overshadowing the experience.

I came to Forte on a Sunday night for dinner and we had a great time. The service was excellent and the waiter had a great time entertaining my grandmother. The food was good, but it certainly wasn't the best I have had. We sat in the dining room and we had appetizers, entrees and deserts. For an appetizer we ordered a special casear salad topped with fried artichoke hearts. It was very good and we easily split it between five people. For dinner we had shrimp francese and lobster ravioli. The shrimp was delicious and a large portion, but I wouldn't recommend the lobster ravioli. My grandma was very disappointed with the side of pasta, which was lacking sauce and flavor. She is a tough critic! One of us had a sausage, cherry pepper and broccoli rabe dish that he thought was phenomenal. For desert, we split tartufo, which was very good. All in all, we enjoyed our experience, but I have had better Italian food. As always, BYOB is nice!

This is my second time eating from this place and both times have been mediocre. The service is great; staff is very friendly and efficient. The food on the other hand seems to lack necessary flavors. Tonight we had the baked ziti pizza and although we had it delivered hot and fresh, it tasted very bland. Same exact experience I had with Grandma's pizza first time around.

Had a great dinner there tonight. The service was excellent and we felt most welcome. We will certainly go back. After all, there must be 50+ other entrées to try!

I LOVE the Caesar salad pizza here! This is the only place I will go for lunch if I am in the area. The pizza and service have been great every time I have gone.

I'll start by saying this was the best meal I have had in months. It reminded me why I get so excited about food, and why I go out to restaurants at all. I was in a bad mood all day, but as soon as they brought over my chicken saltamboca(not sure on spelling), I got a smile on my face. It looked like it was going to be amazing, and my first bite confirmed it. I asked for mushrooms as well which was a great addition, and they had no problem adding them for me. The spinach, prosciutto, and mozzarella all complimented the chicken and sauce perfectly. After being back in New Jersey for a month, this meal reminded me of how great Italian food can be compared to Colorado. I tasted my sister-in-law's chicken savoy, which sauce wise was even better than mine, but lacked any veggies. She also ordered a side of wings which were over-salted, but I wouldn't order wings from an Italian restaurant anyway. Service was good. We sat in the casual area, but the upper level looked really nice. I will definitely be back when in the mood for a great American Italian meal.

Came here for my brother-in-law's grandparents' anniversary party. The food was pretty good -- served pasta in a giant bread bowl. My favorite was the caprese bruschetta thing, and the salad. Wasn't a huge fan of the eggplant dish I had, or the pasta. The environment was great, though, because of extended family and funny stories with old men.

Better than average standard Italian fare, byob. It's a split level, with the lower side focusing on pizza and the upper side being more upscale fare. I was comfortable dressed in shorts and a t-shirt. My cappelini amatriciana was very good, as was the broccoli rabe with sausage side. Portions might be considered excessive. My only complaint is that it's hard to hear a dinner companion speak. Ambient noise level seems high. I'd go here 3x as often if they improved the acoustics. Impossible to have an intimate exchange when I have to respond with "WHAT?" ad nauseum.

More like 3.5 stars. Pasta dishes and service were both on point. Large portions and they servers fresh bread (which is always a plus in my book). BYOB helps on the wallet.

Pizza places not named Star Tavern or La Scicilia don't get 5 stars...this place is very good. Top notch ingredients, very flavorful pie, hearty portions on salads/apps.....place is jammed every day all day. People know good food and the full seats tell the tale here. Enjoy

Went here with a party of 7 for dinner on a Friday night. Reservations were pretty easy to get for an 8:00 seating and then it emptied out by 9:00. We had calamari, mozarella caprese, and stuffed artichoke for appetizers. They were all really good. The moz on the caprese was especially good. For dinner, I got the chicken ala forte or something like that. meh. Didnt like it, but it wasn't bad. We were all sharing, so I got to taste the rest, and everyone else's were delicious I dont know them by name, but the one that was really good was some kind of pasta with white sauce and peas. Everyone enjoyed thier food. Forte is BYOB which is a plus. Parking is meager in the front, but there is a large lot in the back. Have been many times, will go again. Would recomend.

So we came here for mothers day and i really just wasnt impressed. Let me start by saying ive been here before on an off nice and the food was of better quality then this last time. But still on a day like mothers day it time to get things right. Ill start with wait and service. Basically if you made a reservation for a certain time, it didn't matter. We just decided to sit down in the non-formal side to have dinner but reservations were 30 mins over due and people were still waiting, it go to the point where people for the lets say 6 were still waiting when the 630 people came in. They defiantly over booked. For service, it was lack luster. We got out appetizer without utensils or plates... my mother being the woman that she is, decided to take it upon herself to get us those things. They were friendly and courteous but just to rushed. As for the food, they gave me the wrong soup and I normally I would have just told the server that it was wrong but she dropped it off and rushed over for the next person to the point where I just couldn't get a hold of her. For Dinners, we all ordered but sampled from various plates. I ordered the chicken saltimbocca which was actually really good. I just didn't get my pasta that came with it until we were ready to go. My 2 sisters both ordered pasta, the on order gnocchi bolinase which was way overcooked. Pasta is cooked and served al dente not as large doughy balls. The other sister ordered penne with vodka sauce, which is a simple enough dish, except it tastes as if someone had dropped a container of pepper in there. My parents didn't really say much except that my mother also had her side of pasta come out when we were about to go and that my father's pasta had barley any sauce on it, most of the noodles were dry. All in all I was kind of disappointed. Granted on any off night a place can make good food when there is no pressure, but it's on busy days that you really need to gauge if a place can deliver, and they just didn't.

My buddy Pat brought me here for the first time. Pizza is delicious, even the plain. Standouts are: Chicken Bacon Ranch, Grandma, Sausage & Peppers, and Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Delivery is quick, and the hot dishes & pastas come looking like the ones you receive in the restaurant. Take Out is quick for slices, but I would call ahead for anything else. Pricing is a little on the high side, but you are paying for specialty pizzas, and a wide variety of well made food. I don''t come here every time that I want pizza, but there are times when nothing but THIS pizza will do...

Yep, I would eat here again! We went to Forte for diner and we really ended up having a great time. There is good parking in front and back, and although (as previous reviewer mentioned) a little confusing when you enter, it is a minor distraction. It is a B.Y.O.B., which is great! No issue on the alcohol front. They ensure you get all you need with your drinks, no fuss about it. We did not have any reservations, and there was no wait. They were busy, but they have enough capacity for a busy evening. The food is excellent. I had the chicken francais, and the portion was definitely "ample". I had it over angel hair pasta - I would recommend that to anyone. I could have taken a doggie bag home, however it was just too good - I had to eat it all... :-) My wife had the potato chicken in demi-glace sauce and it was excellent! The other guests had the specials - which are plentiful, and they did not experience any issues or problems with their meal. That is what I liked - the specials are just that "special"! The pizza section (casual area) is also very friendly and good. The pizza is excellent, I am a simple pizza lover, and the pepperoni & cheese is great! If you want to stop in for a quick bite, that area has you covered. It has ample seating and never a wait. The price range I mentioned in the review is for the formal dinning area, the price range for the casual/pizza are is "moderate". Overall this is a good place to add into your regular rotation of eating out. We would definitely eat here again!

Came here Saturday evening. Ordered the Orecchiette Amalfi. The shrimp tasted fresh and delicious. Sundried tomatoes were eh. Overall the dish was okay. The place has a weird contradicting vibe between casual and formal. Service was fine. Food was alright.

Don't question a wrong order at Forte as you will be berated on the phone. This has now happened multiple times. Pizza, chicken cutlet or pasta. Place just can't do delivery or pick up correctly.

I would agree witho other reviewers- I had Chicken Forte. bland and uninteresting. The service was good, a nice "amuse bouche"- but otherwise, just an upgraded NJ pizzaria.

Since there are so many run of the mill Italian restaurants running along the east and west corridor of Route 10, there is no need to patronize the establishments that do not allow guests to complete their meals. It is understandable that a local pizza restaurant may be busier on a Friday night, but there is no reason that paying guests should be asked to leave their table when the other tables surrounding them had been seated longer. We had not even finished our meals when the waiters asked if we wanted our food wrapped to go. We had to ask for water refills. And our check was presented at the same time as our tea. At this time, we had not been at the table more than an hour and a half. As we were sipping our tea, the owner approached our table and told us that he had guests waiting to be seated and that he'd like our table. When our group of three complained, the owner was disrespectful and offered no consolation for his rude behavior. Guests deserve to be respected or there will be no return business.

So slow and really loud! In the state of Italian immigrants you could really do better Weird cold ragu put on tables with bread, what ever happened to dipping oil???

Food is quite good...they have a new party room with 50 inch plasma TV which is great for small parties...a bit expensive.

This place is OK.. gets extremely loud, and for being a casual middle of the road italian place, the prices are pretty high (around $16.00 an entree) The service was good, and the food was average.

This is one of my favorite pizzerias in the area. The pizza is spectacular, and the service is always fast and helpful. It's a dual-purpose place--one side for casual walk-ins and the other is a sitdown restaurant. Either side is a great choice. Their soups and other non-pizza menu items are surprisingly good for a "pizzeria".

  • Janet G.

Forte's pizza is very good - at least for Western Morris County. However, after having sampled other items (pasta bolognese, chicken parm) we will stick to the pizza. The food is just a bit - bland.

I have been coming to Forte for over 10 years in both locations. Their food is amazing and I have never had a bad meal. Their Pasta Fagioli literally tastes just like my Italian grandmothers. I have met the owner Joe a bunch of times. Very nice man. I now live minutes from the one in Randolph and was so excited that they deliver to my apt. They are fast and never get it wrong. The staff always remembers me when I walk in cause I am ALWAYS there. Whether I order from home, or work or walk in for food I have to say I eat there a minimum of 4-6 times a month. Today I called wanting some info on having a party there. All I wanted to know was if they will do a special menu. The guy on the phone seemed highly annoyed and asked when I was looking to have it and how many people. I said well in August. Not sure of the date yet and I am not sure about how many people yet. And he said yeah if its over 20 people we do a menu. So because he was so short with his answer I said sooooo if its under 20 people you dont??? And he said yeah they can just order from the menu....??? What?? So when I attempted to speak cause I still was not understanding he says. Can you call back later? Its really busy right now. And his tone was so rude! So I hung up. I def wont be having the party there now and I am upset now that my favorite place is tainted. I understand I called during lunch hours but there is a way to talk to people. Especially ones who are extremely loyal to your place of business. So minus one star for that experience ........and regarding the comment below about them bringing "ragu" sauce to the table with the bread. Its freshly chopped tomatoes and basil and its to die for with the hot bread they bring out. To compare it to Ragu is ridiculous!!!!

We had dinner this evening at Forte Pizzeria & Ristorante. This was our first time dining at Forte's. There are two areas in the restaurant - one casual side for pizza and takeout & a more formal side. We ate in the formal side and enjoyed our meal. We ordered two appetizers: Antipasto Forte and the special appetizer of homemade mozzarella with tomatoes and basil. Both were good. I wish they had used great, red, ripe tomatoes and not the pale ones we all regret buying out of season. Our main dishes were veal parm and veal saltimbocca. Again, both were very good. We were offered a complimentary glass of wine with our dinner but we declined. We did not have dessert. The restaurant was packed, very clean, service was prompt and everyone was very friendly. If I had to find a fault it would be overly attentive wait staff. Before I was finished with my meal, our waiter took my husbands dinner plate, bread plate and drink. Very poor. Plates should never be removed before everyone at the table is finished. Also, a little thing I have is when a waiter says "youz guys" . Overall, we enjoyed our meal very much and will absolutely return to sample more of their menu..

we didnt' try the casual side - just the more upscale side. food was awful - 2 of us got the special filet mignon and 2 of us got the vodka rigatoni - NO FLAVOR - but it gets better - we weren't even finished w our meals and 2 wait staff came over and tried to take the plates - they were really hurrying us to get out. have heard pizza is good on casual side but definitely do not eat on the more upscale side. total waste.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
