Great food, long wait.... Long long wait. But great food. Went on Father's Day, air conditions in the smaller front area was broken and it was hot! But again the larger dining room was nice and cool.

Very delicious !!! Amazing food. The service is great and it was very packed on the Sunday we went! So happy I drove here.

My first time having Colombian food and I'm obsessed. SO tasty and different. I went at lunch time today (Saturday) and it was not busy but there was a good amount of people there. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly because they knew it was our first time eating Colombian and she gave us good tips on what to get. Restaurant is really nice. I got the white wine mushroom sauced pork with sweet bananas and salad on the side. So yummy! We also got chicken fried rice with a side of tomato sauced potatoes and beans. Also, grabbed a treat from the bakery on the way out and that was also amazing. Definitely going back.

Group size: 10 Food: was great no complaints with quality. Service: Kim (waitress) was horrible. She was rude, unprofessional , never checked messed up our Oder , was not apologetic for her lack of attention. While she was taking our order she would walk away without saying anything and then return and take someone else order and then walk away to put our menus away and then come back to finish taking everyone's order. After appetizers were served and finished it took an hour and a half for us to get our entrées. Usually you fire foodie mid-appetizers, so customers are not waiting for their entrées to come an hour later. Manager was rude and stated that all restaurants in Montclair take about two to one hour for food to arrive at the table after appetizers. Will never go back again!!!!

Solid place with nice people and quality basic food. Steak sandwich was very good, especially when I added some chimichurri and picante sauce. Beans where a nice side. Fries had that batter on them which is not my favorite but I know lots of other people like it. I will be back.

Not on par with Noches De Colombia in Englewood and Clifton. Large portion sizes but some dishes are overly salty. But to be honest, the difference between 2 and 3 stars in this rating is due to this restaurant hitting my pet peeve - nickel and diming patrons. In this case, not giving utensils with takeout and charging an extra quarter per entree for takeout. Seriously? No thanks. Their take-out menu is large and in color but if you are going to waste all that money on a flashy menu, maybe you should add the dessert prices and the fact that your "Mon-Friday Specials" are LUNCH specials, not all day specials. Dining in experience - generally friendly waitresses but long wait for food.

This place is delicious! We started with the chicharrones and guacamole, followed by bandeja paisa. Both Amazinggggg! It is BYOB. The hostess was friendly but I feel like the waiters can be more attentive. The wait time was only about 10 minutes. I will deff come back! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed at all.

Finally we have local legit Colombian food!!! Empanadas are perfect every time. The people, service, and food are all great. Also the music is always on point....and there is usually some soccer on the big tv in front. I highly recommend checking this place out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You'll go back for sure!

I decided to give this place a try since I have heard mixed reviews.More good things word or mouth. It has a nice decor inside and the waiters gave good service. A plus is that, there is a pictures menu so you can see everything your ordering before you get it. I ordered their paella and my date ordered a shrimp dish called Camarones Al Ajillo Gratinados. Sorry to say either one of us were blown away by the food. I am use to getting paella from the Portuguese restaurants in the neck of Newark. on a brighter note the plantains were delicious but I doubt I will be going back anytime soon. I have a theory on a restaurant that too many things on their menu. Usually the restaurants spread their self too thin and only do a couple of dishes excellent but with a huge selection like they have how many visit will it take to find the hits of the menu. I rather go to a place with a smaller menu...chances are everything on the menu sells well because it's good. which means it's fresher, and more raved on...if something isn't selling on a small menu they eliminate the item all together...makes better sense to me.

When we found out about Noches De Columbia, we were excited that there was Columbian cuisine in our neighborhood, something we've missed since we left Queens. We were excited to try them and have had nothing but positive experiences. We've ordered out from here several times, but have never eaten in. We find them to be reasonably priced with nice serving sizes. All of their dishes we've had so far (steak, shrimp, fish fillet, and chicken dishes) have all been delicious. Their maduros are always on point and their cheese bread is so simple yet satisfying. Two minor points. We once had one of their pork dishes and we found the pork a little dry. This was a little disappointing. Also, we ordered from their catering menu, which is a bit smaller (understandably) than their main menu. The issue encountered was not with the food, but with the phone service. I called on a Friday night, which was probably busy, but I was on the phone for almost 20 minutes trying to put in a small-to-medium sized order. These are far from big problems, but were the only average experiences I've had with them that I thought were worth sharing. Next time, we'll try eating in to see what the service is like. I'm hoping it doesn't disappoint!

Best arroz con pollo I've had for the price! The tostones and guacamole are so good. Sharing Picadita is delicious and plentiful for a table of 4. The portion sizes on everything are beyond generous. This is the kind of restaurant worth traveling an hour out of the way for. Plain and simple! My only criticism and reason for giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is they don't have a liquor license so no sangria or margarita to go with your delicious Latin American meal, HOWEVER they do allow you to bring your own bottle of wine.

After receiving high recommendations about this restaurant we stopped here for lunch to wrap up our visit to New Jersey. When we arrived our party of seven was immediately seated. After being seated and waiting approximately 20 minutes with no one stopping to check on us or at least offer water a waitress finely and RUDELY approached our table to inform us, "they were not taking any orders" followed with the comment, "unless we were paying cash". No explanation, apology or alternate option was provided. After several more minutes of uncertainty the hostess explained they were having system issues. The same RUDE waitress again approached our table only long enough to tell us they were "not going to take any orders at all". After realizing our frustration the only person to address us was the hostess who apologized for the lack of communication and explained there was some type power outage. While these events were out of the staffs control, at no point were we approached and provided an explanation or an apology for the lack of attention and service. Based on the type of service only (as we never had the opportunity to order food) we recieved, rather, did not receive we will not be eating here again. We were highly disappointed especially since this restaurant was given high accolades from friends. Out of all the restaurants we've visited this has been the worst experience, highly disappointed.

The food is sooooo good here! This restaurant is all brand new too since it opened up not too long ago it's very nice inside. The only bad thing is the wait time. I don't like waiting when im hungry but it's worth it I guess. I still keep coming back.

We decided to for it another try and this time the food was so MUCH better. I had the shrimp and calamari in white wine cream. It was delicious. Of course the price was reasonable. One of the owners came to our table to ask us our opinion and suggestions of improvement. They strive for excellence here. I had to et another coffee and one major plus they weren't rushing us to leave. They allow you to enjoy your family and friends night out.

Let me start by saying I am not a "yelper". I am in the food business so I am sympathetic to a lot of things but some things are intolerable. First the inexperienced staff, no personality or attentiveness. Every other table received arepas but us. We had to request it in addition to incomplete table set ups and no sharing plates with appetizers. Food came out scattered. Our waiter also seemed in a hurry to clear plates as he took away plates and glasses before we were finished with them. I had high hopes for this place as I respect their success and clearly they model themselves after "Son Cubano" in Edgewater with the gaudy decor but it works. The menu on the other hand reminds me of a "chicken shack or Chinese food menu with all of the pictures. Never shoot yourself in the foot with pictures that look better than the real thing or worse pictures that are less appealing than the real thing. The kitchen seems unaware of their clientele base being in Montclair. Steaks on two plates was way over cooked. In Colombia that's ok but not when your serving upper middle class Americans, I am Latino myself so I can speak on this confidently. Grilled chicken was dry, breaded chicken was over cooked, plates were under garnished and not worth the price. Chimichurri sauce was not authentic. It was garlic and parsley purée. Beans lacked flavor and the one thing no Latin food establishments should ever mess up is the rice which was 10 minutes under cooked. Keep in mind that if you're sitting outside you have to deal with sweaty cross fit trainers running past you while you're eating because the cross fit gym is behind the restaurant and they train outside. That's exactly what I want to see while I'm eating. Although my review may seem harsh I am pointing out correctable mistakes for the benefit of their brand. They will continue to succeed and do well with a new location opening up in Bellville soon regardless of my disappointing experience. Empanadas are good, fruit juices are great and the cheese bread is fantastic.

Staff did not seem attentive over the phone when ordering for delivery. We ordered food from there weeks ago, and asked if we could pay by card, they said yes. When the delivery man arrived, he asked how we were paying in cash? We called back the woman over the phone, and she said we didn't ask by card. It took awhile for the food to arrive as well, and to have the payment sorted out.

First time eating Columbian, and this place gave me the perfect experience. The atmosphere is upbeat, and the food is delicious. I definitely recommend anything that comes with the wine sauce, and fried yuca as a side. Can't beat it for the price!

  • Nina W.

I don't like menus with photographs, but I had hopes for this place. They redid the space rather nicely and I liked the diversity--lots of people partying and not just the usual Montclair suspects. They started us with an appetizer of arepas, which tasted like rice cakes mixed with Elmer's glue. Appetizer of guacamole with plaintain chips was decent. It went downhill from there. My skirt steak with fries was okay, nothing special. My husband's combination plate of beef, rice, plaintains, fried egg and some unidentified fried pork thing looked scary. I think it took a good thirty hours to digest the whole thing. Service was polite. The whole fish at a nearby table looked good but it was tilapia, which I hate, so I'd never order that. Sorry, I wanted to like it but I just didn't.

This is by far my favorite Noches location. It might sound crazy but I feel like the food served here surpasses the food served at the other locations I have been to. Crazy, I know. But the food just tasted like it had a little extra love thrown in. Like I was eating back in my Abuela's house: delicious and in heaping servings. My husband (who I consider an amateur competitive eater..lol) couldn't finish their signature Bandeja Paisa. Probably because its a party platter full of meats, fried egg, and a side of rice. The fried shrimp is also a must. I mean you can order basically anything off the menu and leave a happy camper. My only pet peeve is that the seating arrangement feels a little tight and awkward, but that won't stop me from going back.

Took the kids for lunch and we were seated promptly. The hostess and wait staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant. We ordered the sharing picadita appetizer (Mini Empanadas, Pork Cracklings, Sausage, Fried Yuca) which was extremely tasty. They provide three different sauces for dipping which complemented each item immensely. We also ordered the skirt steak and shrimp meal as well as a grilled chicken salad as our meals. The food was very tasty and well seasoned. We will definitely be coming back. It's a hidden gem in Montclair...

Good Spanish or Colombian food. Colombian empanadas awesomeness. Delicous!!!! BYO with great service. Nice atmosphere. Nice decor and a huge tv. We love to go eat and have a family dinner or just a hang out. Great food. Definitely recommend and the price is awesome for the portions that they serve. I usually end up taking food home. So you won't be dissatisfied. It is totally worth the money and the time. Parking is a hassle . Small parking.lot of about 6 cars otherwise park on street. It can get pack

Again another wonderful dinner. I can't express how far along this place has come! They are now a well oiled machine and the food is so fantastic that my dinner guests were impressed with the quality, quantity and atmosphere. The owner is a sweetheart and truly goes out of his way to make you feel like you are dining among friends. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a yummy delight with a cool atmosphere!

I have been here for lunch and dinner on several occasions (as well as for takeout) and have never been disappointed. Their fried plantains are amazing, along with the fried steak, super tender grilled chicken, and smoothies. Best of all, their price point is fantastic for the huge portions you get. Delicious!

Absolutely excellent! The food was phenomenal, the wait staff was polite, the managers were courteous and well-mannered, the restaurant was clean and tidy...JUST AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I highly, HIGHLY recommend this place! The food is beyond to die for, well worth it!

Was excited to try this restaurant because I was looking for something interesting to eat. We had a party of 8 with 3 kids. Perfect for kids since it's very loud. But I was disappointed. The restaurant was very hot and the food was quite bland. The entree portions were large and prices reasonable. Appetizers very better than the main courses but were a little more expensive. Overall I'd say this restaurant is ok, not great. They need to kick the food up a notch.

  • Jill L.

I'm a fan all right! Is it perfect? Nope. But it's pretty darn good. The mini empanadas were very good and the spicy green sauce was outrageous. I found my paella to be very different from the paellas I've had in the past -- dry and the seafood was overcooked. My husband's fish, on the other hand, was delicious, moist and not overcooked. The tostados were cold but the other sides, particularly my beans, were wonderful. Lots of spice but not overwhelmingly hot. I do tend to agree with other reviewers that non-Latins do not get the same level of service and quality as the mostly-Latin customers but that doesn't mean I won't try it again!

Great food. Good service. Prices are reasonable. Can't complain. And some of the waitress are hot. Lol. Clean environment. Good music. And their empanadas are delicious.

We love: the food! Everything is delicious and the portions are big and juicy. I got the mar y mar (shrimp/fish) and my boyfriend got a dish that had pretty much every kind of meat in it and they were all great. The decor is nice, the place looks clean, and we got parking right across the street. We really didn't like: the service =(. There were only 2 servers on the floor plus ..i think..a hostess, I'm not really sure though. No one introduced themselves, we could barely hear them, and they were really inconsistent. We saw several people looking for a server, like we had, and couldn't get anyone. No one asked us how the food was, and the check took forever to get. I do recommend you come try this place as it's possible they had an off night or maybe someone called out sick. The food is wonderful and you should try it!

    (4)
  • Ninni N.

Seated quickly, waiter was attentive. The food was decent. They were out of the rice and beans and black beans, so settled for yellow rice and red beans which was pretty good. Simple food but at a good price. Only tried a couple of entrees and a sandwich, so I will go back and try something else next time.

Finally went here for the first time and tt was just ok. I'd been hearing a lot of hoopla about this place for quite a while. And a few of my friends swear by some things on the menu. The chicken I had was dry. The shrimp was good but under seasoned. The plantains were ok. I'm not a big fan of those anyway. The service wasn't bad at all. Our server checked on us regularly but she wasn't overbearing. I'd probably give this place another try, but I'm definitely not in a hurry to do so.

This was our first time here and we figured since we got here at 9 we would have avoided most of the rush... No chance! The place was slam packed all night. We had to wait a half hour to sit and it got even more crowded after we came in. We really did wait only a half hour though, despite how crowded it was. Our experience here was excellent. Our server was on point, very attentive. For apps We ordered the cheese bread and garlic shrimp with plantains, both were delicious. I got the skirt steak with two sides, Maduros and a salad. Fiancé got the skirt steak with eggs, rice and beans, comes with pork belly too. The amount of food that was on the plate was so much we literally took home two meals to eat for leftovers, not that I'm complaining--the food was awesome. And we got out of there pretty quickly. I would definitely recommend coming here, no wonder why they are so packed! It's worth the wait....

Skip Cuban Pete's, and have an authentically Colombian night! My boyfriend and I have been lurking past this restaurant waiting for it to open since there was still snow on the ground! This weekend our wishes came true. Huge in Hudson county (where I grew up) Noches de Colombia is now the most authentic Latino food in this famous restaurant town. Today I ordered pan de bono (enough for bfast too,) empanadas de carne (beef) con aji (hot sauce,) and a pollo a la parrila (grilled chicken) but replaced the tostones (plantains) with my favorite thing about this place, the FRIJOLES (beans). I also ordered some FRESH FRUIT juices, a limonada (lemonade) and a piña y naranja (pineapple and orange). Everything was exactly how I expected--fantastic! The one thing I was disappointed with today is that they didn't have Maracuya (passion fruit) as a fruit juice option and I was really looking forward to it. From my previous knowledge of other chains, they do seafood really well. And a juicy churrasco! Yes they do live up to their reputation for cafe (coffee). I expect to gain a good 15 pounds in the next few months just because this place is so close to my house. And when they get delivery in order? Well, I'll just have to hit up the crossfit center next door because this food is seriously addicting.

What a welcome treat for Montclair and the surrounding area. Authentic food, large portions and great prices. Extremely friendly atmosphere and BYO. I just hope that the lines don't get too long when more people figure out what is going on there. Put those other bogus Latin themed restaurants in town to shame.

Really good Colombian food made fresh with authenticity. Everything was tasteful and plentiful!! Everyone in my party of 8 though their food was delicious and will be returning to try the other dishes. The owner even gave us an extra dessert because one member in my party got their food maybe 5-10 min after everyone else's. But she was nowhere near disappointed once she got her plate and saw how huge the portions were, and of course how everything tasted. This place sorry to say is one of the best restaurants in the area... but I'll let you decide on that when you try it. Oh and it's also BYOB

The decor inside is really cute and it's very clean. We parked in the street and there were plenty of spaces. The portions were huge and everything was delicious. I had the chicken and shrimp in wine sauce which was very good but the chicken was just a little dry. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and the food came out fast. I will definitely be coming here again!

I wasn't a fan! Food is good but the service is horrible. The waiter was lost in the kitchen for the whole dinner. I asked for water and got it after the dinner. She also didn't speak any English and looked at me like I was crazy when ordering. Never received appetizers. The cherry on top: she wrote her own tip and told me to just sign the bill! Never again! Zero stars! Zero!

  • Paula S.

Great food and great ambience. The decoration is breathtaking and their service has improved tremendously. Our party was over 12 ppl, and our waiter was always checking on us, making sure we were pleased with our meals. Definitely a great restaurant to visit frequently! Two thumbs up!!!

Love this place... I can finally say that about a place in Montclair! The first time we tried to eat here it was packed and we couldn't even get in. The next try we went in the late afternoon on a weekday. The place was empty, but we received excellent service and delicious food, The menu is large and has options for all types of tastes and diets. I am gluten free, and there were many choices for me. I had the grilled chicken salad. It was gigantic [all portions were] and completely fresh and delicious. Also, the prices are great. We had entrees for 5 people plus two appatizers and the bill was around $70. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean, which was also a plus!

Let me start by saying I eat here often and order lunch delivery often and they are all pretty large orders. Dining in was fine I never really had a problem. Now delivery that's a entirely different problem. They messed up our delivery order once before but I figured lets try one last time. So this time they forgot two dishes and gave us an extra dish we did not order, and charged me 8.00 for a side salad with 2 slithers of avocado when I ordered the avocado salad. I had the avocado salad when I dined in and it was totally different from the one they sent me. So I called them and told them after they insisted it was in the bag I told them it was not and then finally they decided to send me the dishes but I had to return the extra dish they added in the bag. I don't give a crap about the extra dish but REALLY!! What are they going to do sell it!? They all ready messed up and had an attitude on the phone about it wouldn't you want to try and correct it to save you from loosing a customer?? So to say the least I will never order from there again the noches de colombia in clifton is wayyyyy wayyyyyyy better and they have the best customer service and food.

I've been at several locations of this chain especially when I get the craving for "fried food". Healthy menu items are limited and salads are made with "ICEBERG LETTUCE" ?????. I thought they stopped farming that crap. Recently had a craving and ordered from the Montclair store which was significantly overpriced. One of the worst options for Spanish food in Essex County.

Always a fan of other Noches De Columbia but this location did not do it for me. Brought my mom, niece, and son for lunch on a Friday around 1:30pm. When I walk in we stood there for about 5 minutes before I asked if I could sit where ever. After sitting it took about 15 minutes for the waitress to come and ask about drinks. (I was about to walk out right before she came) We order the sampler which was really good except the arepa. My mother order the pork in white mushroom sauce, my niece order fries with shrimp and steak in tomato sauce, my son chicken and French fries, finally I order mal y terria. My steak was very well done when I asked for medium. Ended up taking it home and throwing it out. They forgot the sauce for my mom food, when asked about it they brought it out when we were ready to order dessert. The rice was undercooked, and the desert tres leche was very grainy. Definitely nothing like the other locations. Will not be returning here.

Not disappointed and would definitely come back. We got the tostones with the shrimp, chicken, beef and guacamole. I would've preferred all guacamole. Then hubby got the surf and turf. Meat looked tiny compared to other places but was perfect size. He rated his entre a 4 out of 5. I got the shrimp in garlic and I loved it 5 out of 5. My side dish was the potatoes and since my shrimp had plenty of sauce I put the potatoes right in. Now dessert was a negative but I guess you don't go into a Spanish restaurant for chocolate cake lol. Should've went with the flan or tres leches. It was more like a microwaved chocolate muffin with chocolate syrup on top I'll give it a 2 it of a 5.

I was very disappointed with the food. I had a wonderful first time at the Noches de Colombia in North Bergen so I had pretty high expectations in this new branch closer to home. This branch is bigger and more aesthetically pleasing. The staff members were warm and friendly. The empanadas were great and the Colombian bread was also soft, tasty, and good. The entrees, however, were very disappointing. The chicken was hard and dry and seemed like it was recycled from the previous day. The sauce wasn't very flavorful. The portions were still big like I remember them to be but the quality just didn't cut it for me.

I've been to all other Noches de Colombia and was super excited to learn that there was one near me in Montclair, however my visit there for Sunday breakfast couldn't have been more disappointing. Our waitress was very good, I have to give it to Julieta, she did try her best but didn't get much support from the kitchen nor from the rest of the restaurant staff. 1. They only had one server for the whole floor, and Julieta had to ask for the others to come out and help when the tables started filling and nobody would come out to help, when they finally came, they didn't seem to please with the fact that they needed to work. 2. Since there was not enough staff serving the tables, sure enough, our drink sat for a good 15 minutes before they made it to our table. We got the pandebonos before we got any of the coffees and juices that we had ordered. 3. And the part that really did it for me, the kitchen put out the wrong order for a table in front of ours, the lady order scrambled eggs and they brought here scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes. Coincidentally, I had ordered scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes, and yes, when the food for our table I was presented with the eggs that they removed from the table in front of us. Not only did they give me the eggs that the other table refused, but they were ICED cold, when I told our waitress that the eggs were not up to part, they were super cold, she apologized and took them back to kitchen. And yes, may be 3 minutes later they come back with the same eggs that they warmed up in the microwave. Of course I refused them and simply gave up on the idea of eating eggs there. As if this wasn't enough, there is more... 4. My husband's order came out with the wrong meat, they took it back and fixed it, but it just didn't taste good. 5. My brother asked for "Carne Molida" and it was certainly from the day before (hopefully from the day before and not older). Again, it didn't taste good. 6. Our idea of breakfast is fresh eggs, fresh food in general, I think it's hard to mess up breakfast as it is a pretty simple meal. Well, leave it to Noches in Montclair where they don't use eggs, rather the eggs they put on our table tasted like scrambled-eggs mixes from a carton. Not what I would expect from any breakfast restaurant. 7. And to top it all, it was extremely expensive for food that we did not enjoy at all. I know one family won't make much of a difference for a restaurant to be successful or not, however, I can say that we WON'T be visiting that restaurant ever again. It is a shame because the location is very convenient and beautiful, the owner definitely spent a good chunk of money in decorating and conditioning of the restaurant to make it up to part in looks with other nice restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, the kitchen is not putting out food that would make people want to come back for more. Both food and service must improve, and those are the main components for a good restaurant.

Love all the Noches De Columbia's in the area. This one has no alcohol but is still great for good quality food and decent prices and portions. If u like BYO then you will like the Montclair one even more then the others. If u love Colombian food or want to give a try this is your spot.

Came here for a birthday dinner with my family and I've always been a fan of noches. Let's just say this is not the place to go to for a celebration with several people. The waitresses cannot keep up with the tables and I had to repeatedly get her attention because she forgot to bring some of our drinks and the ketchup. I wouldn't go back to this location.

Finally, an official Latino restaurant in the Clair with authentic portions, flavoring and menu. I had the tostones, rice with cardito, steak & onions. It did not disappoint. The staff was very attentive, and the Spanish cafe was on the house. I'll be back often and with more people. There's plenty of room to dine.

So happy there's a "noche's" restaurant in Montclair. Empanadas are delightful and are a MUST HAVE! Outdoor seating is a plus, especially during warm summer nights.

We really enjoyed the authentic colombian food. The staff was very friendly and inviting. The looked after our every need. The dinning area looked very beautiful and nicely decorated with a huge mosaic done in the back end of the restaurant. The food was delicious. We had a few appetizers. The tostones with beef, chicken and guacamole were delicious. The empanadas were done to perfection. I have to go back to try more off the menu; however the steak and onions were out of this world. The steak was perfectly done with great beans and rice to accompany it. The 3 Leches was yummy and a good portion. Definitely recommend bringing some pandebono back home or even having them nice and warm at the restaurant if you have the space. They also do take out and breakfast. Most likely coming back to check breakfast out. This place just became my favorite spot in Montclair.

Came here this week with friends and we had a great experience. The food was delicious, large portions and reasonably priced. The owner came by to check on us which is always nice! I definitely recommend it and will be back!

I am very impressed with this place. In a land of overpriced restaurants, this was a refreshing treat. Good sized portion, very reasonably priced. Large selection of items. Don't let the word Colombian dissuade you. There are many dishes that are basic if you are hesitant to try ethnic food.

5 stars because there really isn't anything negative about this place. Food is good, authentic, and reasonably priced for the area. Byob. Nice decor in the main dining area and great service.

My friends and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time at lunch. The food, service and decor are top-notch. This was one of the best meals I have ever had in Montclair. We ordered beef empanadas (crispy on the outside, creamy and flavorful inside), guacamole, a mixed grill of shrimp, steak and chicken (very fresh, moist and perfectly seasoned). Dessert was another surprise. The flan had perfect mouthfeel and was sweetened just the right amount. Tres leches cake was moist, creamy and delicious. The chocolate lava cake was slightly overdone, but still very good. Cafe con leche topped off an excellent meal with quick, friendly service. Prices are very inexpensive, deceptively so for the quality of this food. Half of the restaurant is taken up with a beautiful large room, romantically-lit, with a gorgeous mural of art tiles in the back depicting a tropical scene. The other half is more casual, but friendly and comfortable. They deliver too! Highly recommend.

Go. What a great addition to the Montclair restaurant scene. Great food...huge portions...a staff who really cares...good energy. It might be a cliche regarding authenticity, but I was glad to see several tables of Colombian people there...enjoying the food and the restaurant. It's BYOB...and they provide an ice bucket at the table (simple things like that matter). The menu is large - with choices for everyone. I'll definitely go back.

Party of 6. Only 2 people spoke spanish, the rest of us had such a hard time. The waiter charged us for 4 sodas when we got 2. They charged $2 for Coke and $1.50 for Sprite. That's a joke right? Food in Passaic at Noches tastes better. You also get more for the money. They also charged us a ridiculous 19% service charge on a dead Sunday night where they barely did anything, but mess up. Not coming back here, I'll go to Passaic.

Terrible experience. So I decided to try this Noches since it isn't far form where I live. I was in the mood for a good Colombian breakfast. When I get there, the girl, I'm assuming is the host, if you can call it that, was not friendly at all. I did not get a hello, or a welcome; instead I got "Do you need help with something?" Well let me see. I'm in a restaurant, and I just walked in. I did not come here to read a book or look at decor, I obviously came here to eat. So already I'm annoyed. My boyfriend and I sit down. And we wait, and wait. I have been to many Noches de Colombia, and the thing they have in common is they love to make you wait. Happens every time, without a fail. And finally after about 15 minutes of waiting, the waitress shows up. Let me say that it was not busy at all. She asks us what we would like to drink and to order. I ask about the breakfast menu. She says they stop serving breakfast at 12. Now I have been to other Noches, where I have gotten breakfast food like at 3. And if you're Colombian, you know that some of the breakfast food is make with stuff that they use all day. So I was a bit annoyed by this. All I wanted was arepa and calentado. She said I could get arepa, but not the rest. Mind you, calentado is made by mixing rice, beans, and meat all together. And this being a Colombian restaurant, they make these items all day. So it was not happening apparently. So we took our juice and coffee, paid the bill, and left. Never coming back. And to top it off, the parking lot is terrible.

Borderline meh to OK. We were really excited to try this latest addition to the NDC chain, but our experience was very mixed. For appetizers, we ordered chorizo and empanadas, plus a pandebono for our kid. We wanted a side of yucca too, but the waiter indicated they ran out (how does one let that happen at a Colombian restaurant?) Anyway, EVERYTHING came out ranging from cold to lukewarm, and both the pandebono and the arepa that accompanied the chorizo were stale. Furthermore, the arepa was absolutely tasteless, but then it didn't have much impact because it was only about the size of a poker chip (and was only a little bit thicker too). Furthermore, the empanada looked like it was made by a machine, which was disappointing because we thought this place was billed as more of an "authentic / home made" style restaurant. So since this was all basic sort of stuff here in our minds, our expectations for this place sank VERY quickly. But much to our surprise, the Mar y Tierra Salteado we each had was pretty tasty, fresh, and nicely portioned. However, the tostones (another basic) were hard and tasteless and borderline stale. Plus the fries were overly salty. But our kid seemed to enjoy the chicken fingers and fries we ordered for her. Communication was also an issue at this place. Our waiter had some difficulties understanding basic English, and he misinterpreted several of our (pretty standard) requests. What's more, he did not return quickly enough for us to relay our concerns with the appetizers. (And he didn't even pick up on the fact that we left nearly half of them.) Only AFTER we paid our bill and were walking out did the manager approach to ask me about our experience, which I said was mixed. I will say he was friendly and appreciative of my feedback, and then he handed me his business card (but for what purpose I didn't really understand). Bottom line this place really needs to prepare more to order, and work on the "slow cooked....authentic Colombian experience" they aspire to. Then we'll be back for sure.

Server was extremely friendly. Lots of traditional choices on the menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. Hot sauce was really good. Pretty good coffee too. We will be back to try other options!

Thanks to a neighbor who recommended it, I've been there three times in 2 weeks. What a wonderfully authentic restaurant. Beautiful decor, great friendly service and food that's marvelous. Am a fan of their shrimp dishes which are cooked to perfection. The best guacamole I've tasted in a long time. The portions are huge, with enough to take home for another meal...or two! They don't rush you through your meal, even if the restaurant is full. I appreciate that. Staff members helpful with food choices and explanations. Even if you're not a fan of Colombian food, they open @ 7 a.m. Stop by there for coffee and a treat. Takeout and delivery available. It's my new fave place in town, just a short walk from home. Best of luck to them, and I hope they stay open for many years.

I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was great with really generous portions, staff was super friendly, and food was great! So glad to get a "genuine" Latin flavor restaurant feel in this area....much needed. I will go back soon and will recommend it as well.

This place just opened up a couple blocks from my apartment, and I have already been there several times. Whether I am getting a couple empanadas for under $5 or an arepa with chorizo, I am literally drooling when I walk out with my food. I don't eat gluten, and having found that the grilled flounder has a dusting of flour on it (after I already got home) I anticipated a night of hunger and stale potato chips. I called them up, and they made me a whole new dish sans gluten! And they were NICE about it. I don't find that at every place I go. It was cool not feeling like a nuisance. Thanks George, Omar, and Charlie! You will see me and my roommate (equally obsessed) soon.

if you have to choose between this location and clifton ... go to clifton. i waited 10 minutes to be seated .. then after the food came out waited another 10 minutes for the crema rosada sauce and a fork. i literally just walked up to the busing station and got it myself. My boyfriend is from puerto rico so he knows good spanish food. i recommended going here .. he was hesitant .. and said he would never go back. i will stick with noches in clifton or north bergen!

First time in Noches de Colombia here in Montclair , I went to the one in Clifton a couple of years ago and it was a huge disappointment but whatever back to the location in Montclair ... We ordered a sampler appetizer that consisted of emphasis, chorizo and chicharron delicious and fulfilling... Bad idea to order because by the time we got our entrees we were extremely full... Portions are HUGE and prices are reasonable.... Definitely will come back.

Yo it's been a minute since I wrote a review (thank you hand injury!) but now Ima bout to make it up by blowing it up. Nah just kidding...or am I. Alright I'm done with the silliness and now right back down to business. Can I just say when Noches de Colombia opened a branch (they're more like a bank now with all the different locations they have in NJ) in Montclair I was more than super excited. I squealed like a pig right before it was going to be roasted. I'm saying chicharron style! And speaking of chicharron it's one of my favorite fried goodness every time I stop by a Noches place. That and an empanada together is heavenly foodgasm like no other. Anyways this restaurant in Montclair serves up an amazing array of Colombian dishes just like it's other locations but because it's so freakin close to where I live, I heart it even more! Dishes like the bandeja paisa--a huge plate consisting of everything your cardiologist would crap his pants when you tell him what is in it--are consistently delicious. And that's the keyword here. Every time I have visited, the dishes that come out of the kitchen taste the way it's supposed to taste. No hit or miss, at least from what I have experienced. So back to the bandeja dish: it' steak, sausage, egg, chicarron, rice, plantain, potato, and for extra heart-clogging measure an avocado. Actually on second thought that might be the only thing healthy in that whole dish. Then there's the noches sampler which has the plantain, steak, chicharron, and sausage. There's their shrimp and steak dish and fried flounder all served in ginormous portions. Whatever you are in the mood for that day your belly will thank you regardless. It's just an explosion of flavors and Latin goodness. But wait there's still more. DO NOT ever leave without trying their bread pudding. I took a picture of the dish but it just doesn't do it justice. I mean the bread pudding is simply ridiculous! Warm bread pudding cake with caramel and vanilla ice cream--I mean come on people let's not mince words here that $hit sounds as good as it tastes! Alright I've written enough. My hand is starting to hurt but more importantly I'm getting hungry so I guess I'm gonna go eat. I wonder where I'm going...

First things first, almost any meal you get here involves at least three plates. One with the meat, rice and plantains; a separate one for the beans and another for the salad. If you're eating with someone, this is a minimum of six plates so ask for a larger table. The portions here are pretty big so come with an appetite or leave with leftovers. The food itself is pretty good and smells pretty good but it lacks some sazon. It's not as flavorful as other cuisines and I have to add salt to the beans or hot sauce to some dishes. Either way, this is something to consider. The smoothies are really, really good.

Trust this gringo.... This is the real deal! Yes i may not have been raised on Arepa and Chicharonn, but I lived in Queens NY long enough to know who can rock a bandeja paisa. And Noches in Montclair fits the bill. The beans are thick and packed with amazing flavor. The Chicharonn is always crispy. I love this place! Prices are on point and the food brings me back to my old days of being the only gringo in my favorite restaurant, Tierres Colombianos

After being not so impressed by the Clifton location, I was hesitant to try this location. However, I'm happy that I ultimately decided to go to the Montclair BYOB counterpart. The appetizer sampler is a meal in itself. Sausage, chicharron, beef and tostones. 3 grown, hungry men trying to tear it apart, and I still managed to come away still relatively full. So much so that I barely had any of my entree. Speaking of entree, my mar y tierra salteado was decent, but not amazing. I've been on a lomo saltado kick, so a variation seemed interesting. It's prepared just as described - the tomato sauce is slightly sweet. It's not as good as the traditional Peruvian dish, but on its own, it's quite enjoyable. The best part was they let me substitute yucca fries in! Overall, a very solid Spanish meal, although be warned that a lot of the food is fried.

Despite arriving about an hour and half before closing time (they close at 11pm on Friday and Saturdays), this Noches was busy! From the outside this place doesn't look like much. Upon entering and being seated, however, I quickly realized just how deep the restaurant actually was...good for big parties and families. We were seated and given a huge and lengthy menu. Despite the large menu, I am not convinced that Noches has a wide variety of options. The menu choices differed slightly though they were assorted by protein type (steak, chicken, fish). I settled with the churrasco with chimichurri and asked for my steak to be medium. Once it arrived it was obvious it wasn't cooked to medium but rather medium-well, closer to well. Still it was a decent piece of meat, tasty and lean. My chimichurri sauce was missing for some reason (that's a third of my meal!) and the french fries appear to be frozen. But don't be fooled, the fries are addicting! I also ordered a passion fruit smoothie made with water. It wasn't too sweet as I feared it would be but I wish it had a thicker consistency. Had a chance to try the passion fruit made with milk. Still I preferred mine to the milky version as it still lacked the consistency I like. More than likely to return to this location should I be in the mood for some quick latin food. A-Ok in my book!

Our food was delicious. So incredibly good. We stopped in at 3 on Fathers Day and there was a half an hour wait. So happy we waited because it was completely worth it. The first lobby area was crowded and a bit hot, but the main dining room was very comfortable. After ordering it took a little bit of time for our food to arrive but nothing out of the ordinary (we were probably very hungry!). My father ordered the mojarra frita (fried tilapia) and I got the Mar y mar (flounder and garlic shrimp). Both were completely worth it! The crispness of the tilapia was nice and the juicy flavor of the meat was on point. The creamy wine sauce on the mar y mar was a perfect combination. Service was good for a holiday too. With all that said, I will definitely be recommending this spot and coming back soon :)

Came here on a Friday night and it was packed. We had a very short wait, around 5 minutes to be seated. When first walking into the seating area the noise level was high but still cozy and comfortable. Despite how full the place was the service was great. The waitress took our orders right away and was attentive throughout our meal. I ordered the asadito (grilled platter) and it was exactly what was pictured. I liked that the menu did provide a picture for every item, but it made it that much harder to choose! The platter included grilled chicken, steak, and shrimp with tostones (fried plantain) and all of it was great. The prices are very fair for the amount of food you get. I washed it down with a passion fruit shake made with milk which was amazing, prefect amount of sweetness and consistency. Overall great food, prices, and service. Will definitely be back to enjoy again.

The food here was very good. The portions are large enough that we were able to share one meal between two people and still have food to take home. The service is something else, I wouldn't say it was bad enough to avoid a return trip but we did get ignored for quite a while before we were able to get our check.

In continuance of eating my way through Montclair we tried Noches de Colombia for a girls' night. The restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday night, yet we were seated fairly quick. Our servers were attentive and anticipated our needs before we even had to ask (bringing extra spoons etc.). We were given a bowl of small potato disk-like appetizers for free. They were good, but needed a little salt for my taste. The guacamole appetizer comes with smashed plantain disks, not chips. This was a different way of having guac than I'm used to, but it was really tasty and the guac was well seasoned and fresh. I ordered the pollo saltado which was decent, but I'd probably try another dish if I return. The food is plentiful at Noches de Colombia and the price is right!

I dined here recently with some friends on a Saturday night. The restaurant was crowded during the prime Saturday dinner rush, but our party of 4 was seated immediately with no reservations. The high ceilings, large chandeliers and murals on the walls make this a friendly spot. Families, groups of friends and dates were all enjoying their meals here. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer and it was served with plaintain disks for dipping. We all enjoyed it this way and the guac was very tasty. For dinner I had the grilled chicken in a wine mushroom sauce, which reminded me of chicken marsala with a creamier sauce. The plate was loaded with mushrooms, rice and beans, and sweet plaintains. The portions are huge and I took about half of the chicken home for lunch the next day. In addition, we all enjoyed the price tag on this meal - it is affordable, especially considering the large portion sizes. BYOB.

I was craving Colombian food and decided to order takeout from Noches de Colombia. The person taking my order was very courteous and the food was ready very quickly. The food was great, and what I normally expect from Colombian restaurants in the area. I do wish their menu was more broad. A lot of the meals tend to be some combination of fried meat, beans and rice. They really should consider adding soupy dishes like sancocho or ajiaco. And salads with something other than iceberg lettuce. There is so much more to the food Colombia has to offer!
