Volga offers both south and north indian dishes. This is unlinke many other Indian restaurants in the area. The south indian Idly Sambhar was delicious. Also, their Volga Special lamb dish was really very tasty, making me feel quite funky as I left. Their cha' at the end of the meal was definately suiting. This may not need to be said, but all the food was cooked to order. Many people came in for take out and they definately seemed like regulars. They are BYOB. Great location and speedy for a quick lunch, or perfect for a long meal, they don't care either way. One more thing, the Paan man at the door is a must. He has all types.

Good food, the quantity is overwhelming for a small price. Typical fast food so can't expect much of service. But, they do good service than other Indian restaurants. Food is prepared fresh. You would love it for the price, quality and quantity.

Update: We went up there recently several times and it seems new management has taken over (a very nice family feeling with a couple taking over). It's better than ever. Apparently, the chefs are the same- so same great food quality. Now Monday thru Friday, they have a half-off special from select menus ranging from everything from huge chole-batruas to makii ki roti to dosas-- and it's an amazing bargain. For nearly 6 or 7 bucks, they serve enough in one dish for two (they veg biryani is huge and delis !). The food is exquiste and fresh. Their makii ki roti is fantastic--- pure butter on the roti of corn-- and the saag is filled enough for two and great. One of the best kept secrets still in Edison that the locals seem to know about. The diner is very low -key, but the taste is amazing and more affordable. It's becoming our fast favorite for late Friday nights now. Everything closes early in Edison these days.. but this place is open till mid-night. We're late eaters and it's wonderful to watch an Indian movie and hang out with meals here. (and affordable !).

    1. Ambience was good with colorful design lights hanging around. 2. Roti was excellent. 3. Bindi curry had a good curry masala taste but it was oily. 4. Idli had a horrible taste. It was dry. Looks like it was prepared in the morning and they just heat it up in microwave few minutes before serving. And sambar was pathetic almost had a stale taste. So I dint touch the coconut chutney at all. 5. Dahi chaat and Volga chaat was good. 6. Then take away we ordered for veg Fried rice it was good but not excellent.

Iselin, North Jersey Even as an Indian foodie I was not sure what I was eating, but I think this is the fast food of Indian food. Hey at least it is fast and less formal. And when it is so busy and you are so hungry you eat where you land! Wifi wasn't working and they serve with paper plates.

Beware! Very bad food. Not at all fresh. We ordered dosa and chole bhatoore. Bhatoore was soaked in oil and dosa tasted horrible just because it may be few days old. We had good food before at this place but don't plan to go to this place ever.

I ordered us most importantly a mango lassi...the chicken hyderabarini and chicken tikka masala...and nann....everything was very good and spicy even for medium but I love spicy I definitely will go back. I felt very welcome even as a non Indian customer

The food at Volga is great. The pakora appetizers are amazing and the food is good quality. And while I've had good service in the past, my most recent experience is encouraging me not to return. First and foremost, they were out of certain items and couldn't identify a suitable replacement. The language barrier was a bit of an issue, too. I don't expect someone to have perfect English skills if it's not their first language, but the waitress' inability to properly communicate was frustrating. Like, when she didn't understand what we wanted, she walked away and we didn't get the item until we mentioned it to someone else. I have to note that the waitress was very sweet and helpful, but there were challenges with ordering that made the experience rather frustrating. The owner is great and very accommodating, and the food is great. As long as you're not expecting anything healthy, anyway. The atmosphere is very relaxed, so go to Volga if you're looking for a relaxing night when you don't want to wear anything fancy.

Made to order food. I've only ordered here 2 times & both for take out/delivery. Both times I ordered their chicken rice biryani. Tasted great! I ordered mild since I'm not Indian and not super into spicy foods. "Mild" had a pinch of spice that was still Tolerable. Food tasted great. Owner is super nice. Rice dish could feed 2 people. Will keep going back here to experiment and try other Indian dishes. Their veg samosa is huge and worth the price. Also yummy and had a punch of spice.

Just returned from a great dinner with friends. I read some reviews and felt like I was in good hands, but upon arrival, I second guessed myself. It is far from elegant, and in a strip mall. The staff was very friendly and accommodating (my friends brought their 3 daughters), and all the food was tasty. Very authentic. My only complaint is that everything was served on disposable styrofoam and in plastic cups - MAJOR turnoff, in 2011, we should be far past that wasteful mindset. Otherwise, they were gracious and served great food, truly a wonderful meal.

Try the hyderabadi chicken biryani, very good. Medium was really spicy, but still yum! What I enjoyed the most about Volga was that it felt like a true, family owned Indian (authentic) restaurant. The staff was really nice, the food was fresh & hot - it was just good. At first glance, the restaurant doesn't look all that appealing to the eye, but the food was fantastic!

If You want upset stomach and have Alka seltzer as a dessert this is the place you should be at. One of the worst restaurants.

I can't think of a better place that serves Indo Chinese in the Iselin NJ area! The Hakka Noodles and the Fried Rice were very tasty and spicy. I especially love the Chilly Chicken with it's nice tendor morsels of chicken with spicy chili sauce. Delicious!
