At my age it's the things you don't notice that makes a visit to a restaurant enjoyable. Maybe this trip was the exception, unfortunately I will not be going back for sometime. For starters when the waitress placed a basket of Italian bread (4 slices) and a plate of garlic knots dredged in olive oil on our table I knew we were in trouble. Our dinner included one entree, not of out own selection. Guess what it was? Bruschetta. Amore bread! We passed on this and paid for a mesculan salad which most likely would have tasted better had it come from Costco. My entree was something resembling veal with a mushroom and artichoke and linguine. So much sauce I never got to see any solid food. But really folks, does this owner really now how to prepare food? If he cares he had better check in on his chef. I give this restaurant one star. The location is really good.

Disgusting. Was here about a month ago and could not believe how awful it was. Old, slimy lettuce in my salad and a nice helping of hair and black insects in my pasta. I hope this place goes under just like every other business that has been under this roof. Terrible service, rude staff, corny-ass, elitist business model and food that makes you want to call Orkin will ensure that. And what's up with having bouncers? You're a [shitty] Italian restaurant in the suburbs. You should be BEGGING for people to cross your threshold. Get over yourselves and move on. Ridiculous. Fuck this place and the snobs who run it. NEWSFLASH: You suck.

For a fairly nice sit-down restaurant, they pre-make and reheat dishes with a microwave here. Need I say more? No, no I don't.

Great to finally have a local restaurant that can prepare Vitello Milanese. A simple veal dish that was on spot! De-lish. I very much enjoyed the expansive half circle booth-very comfortable. The Beacon lives on!

Simply put -- this place has impressive, authentic Italian food. The first thing I noticed when I got to the restaurant is how helpful and friendly everyone was ... always a great start. The owner zipped through the restaurant several times ensuring all was right with the world. All the food -- including the appetizers -- came out piping hot (which is my litmus test for something to look for in a great restaurant). I had the tried and true Chicken Marsala -- and it was perfectly done. They boast that everything is made in-house and homemade -- and it shows. And while I didn't stick around for dessert, they have a nice array of treats to tempt your sweet tooth. If you're looking for a place to hold a business meeting or social gathering, this joint has plenty of event space too. All in all, an unexpected, amazing experience -- in the heart of Hamilton, NJ.

Can someone, please, tell all of us if this place is open or closed. The lights are seldom on, there are few to no cars in the lot and very limited activity. The reviews here are dated and if they are in business the world would like to know.

I finally went for dinner with a group, otherwise I can't say that I would've tried it; yet another Italian Ristorante in the Hamilton area, there are 3-4 of them within a mile. The 2 stars are for service, the server was very attentive and helpful and the owner made the rounds which I thought was a nice touch. That gave me high hopes for a good dining experience but I was let down by the food on many levels. First the bread: the small garlic knots were very good bu the loaf that they brought was a very dry wheat bread, not what I was expecting for an Italian place. With all of the well-known Italian bakeries in the area there was no reason for this. Once the food came out I was speechless. The plates were honestly the biggest things I had ever been given, they were something that you could fit a holiday turkey on! The serving size could have easily fed 3-4 people, an absolutely ridiculous amount of food; it was borderline obnoxious. Out of our large party of people only one person finished their meal and everyone else took their leftovers home. I never understood that logic, I would much rather have a normal-sized portion of great food than a bucket of mediocre food. The beef was way overcooked, the risotto was overdone, the garlic could choke a horse and the food was lukewarm. If the owners check this, please take this criticism as constructive. Stop with the massive serving sizes and focus on the quality. We are lucky to have a strong Italian community and heritage in the Trenton area, and with that there are a lot of places to get great ingredients. With high quality fresh ingredients in normal portions; you can become a standout in an ocean of cookie-cutter Italian restaurants. As it is, you're yet another 'Ristorante' in the Trenton area that serves uneventful fare. When was the last time that you ate at an Italian restaurant who made all of their pasta fresh by hand (including ravioli and gnocchi)? Or made their own sausage in house? That will set you apart, not pounds and pounds of food.

Had dinner here on a recent Saturday night. We waited for a table for around 30 minutes. Once seated, the service was fine. Garlic knots were very good. Salads were plain and unremarkable. Entrees were huge, but well prepared. Prices seemed fine for the amount of food that was served. We will be back probably during the week to avoid the wait.

My mother received a gift card for this restaurant and we were hesitant after reading the reviews on here. I haven't been to the location since it was Giovanni's so we weren't sure what to do but tried it anyways. So glad we did! This had to have been the best meal I've had in a long time. When we pulled into the parking lot we were worried because there were only two cars parked in the lot. The lights were on so we went in. The bar off to the right had chairs stacked and lights off so we thought it was closed until we walked further back and found someone at the bar. He quickly apologized and seated us. There was only one couple in the restaurant and us. Our server, Pattie, was incredibly kind and took great care of us, explaining the specials and offering suggestions. We had the fried calamari which was fresh and melted in your mouth. The bread was amazing, fresh and right out of the oven. Salad was amazing, yummy with a nice oil and vinegar dressing. My mom had the stuffed tilapia with asparagus and potato wedges and I had the Polo Salvatore which was out of this world. The chicken was melt in your mouth with huge shitake mushrooms and delicious potato wedges instead of pasta. For dessert we had the coco and spumoni tartuffo. Both were out of this world. It kills me to know that this place has amazing food yet we were the only ones in there. Nice to have our own little private party on a Saturday night but people in the area don't know the hidden gem they are missing. Please come out and enjoy really amazing authentic homemade Italian cuisine. You won't be sorry - and ask for Pattie, she's awesome!

My friend heard from a coworker that this place was pretty good and had huge portions. Went with a group of friends, but I didn't have high expectations since I checked out the reviews for this place. We went on a Wednesday night. The first thing that I noticed was the packed parking lot. Good start! Atmosphere: The restaurant was really spacious. The party rooms seemed nice too. There was a bar with flat screen TVs next to the main seating area. There was a wide mix of restaurant clientele, but most are probably middle-aged. Wasn't too noisy and was easy to talk across a table for eight. Food: For appetizers we had Cold Antipasto and Misto Villa Romanza. The antipasto was okay, but didn't care for the assorted appetizers. The calamari that came with it was a bit too rubbery. The eggplant rollatini and mozzarella weren't bad. But overall, it was a bit heavy for an appetizer. My Gamberi Almone was not what I expected. It described it as "Shrimp sautéd with broccoli rabe in a spicy garlic and oil sauce over linguini." There were no bite sized pcs of broccoli rabe. it was processed and incorporated into the sauce. And the sauce wasn't even an oil sauce. It was a cream sauce. I liked the pine nuts, but the sauce was way too heavy. Especially for such a large portioned dish. Also tried the Gnocchi Sorrentino. The gnocchi was not bad, but nothing special. The sauce tasted like it came straight out of a jar and way too salty. The person who ordered it described it as gnocchi with pizza sauce. Service: The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and outgoing. The owner made his round and stopped by our table to make sure everything was ok. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes. Otherwise, I can't really explain why ppl keep on flocking to this place. It's too bad if that's the case. Don't think I'll be giving it a second chance.

Went to this restaurant last evening for dinner., along with another couple. we were seated promptly and the waitress came over immediately. We ordered appetizers which came in short order. We had finished our salads and were waiting for the main course, when the waitress showed at our table and said that our order would be out shortly. Thirty minutes later still no order. the waitress the appeared once more and said that one of our meals was under the warming light and that the reason for the delay was that there was a big party in another part of the restaurant and that was the reason for the delay. About 20 minutes later the food arrived and when it did it was cold. I ordered veal Saltimbuca, however the pasta was cold and the veal was Like leather. My wife had pasta with bolanese sauce and she said that it tasted as if it came from a jar.. The sauce that the other couple ordered was very watery. When we complained to the owner he did offer to buy a meal on him however we waited forty five minutes for that meal to arrive then we got up and left. We were tired and hungry. the owner did follow us out and said that our meal was on the table. To me this was unacceptable for a restaurant to do this. I have eaten at some of the better restaurants and the would never do the above. Needless to say I'll not be going back

Valentine's day 2012: set menu I had the heart shaped ravioli with a lobster sauce which was delish. Hubby had ribeye with grilled shrimp & asparagus which was very good. Service was very good. All in all a pretty positive experience :)

My husband and I tried to get into this place 2 times on a weekend...they don't take reservations for parties of less than 5, but we showed up at 5 pm on a Saturday and were told the wait would be 2 hours because they had so many reservations, seemed strange that they had no tables for 4 or less open, since the restaurant was 1/2 empty...So we finally decided to go on a weekday...needless to say, we were not very impressed. We got 2 dinners and an appetizer (no drinks) and it was $80. My crabcake special was served with 4 overcooked lobster ravioli and 2 small crabcakes that were smothered in a rather bland vodka sauce. Also there were 2 guys from some type of mental care facility in the area that were walking around the dining room causing a scene during dinner...it was very odd. There are plenty of other italian places around with better food.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
