Wow the steak fajitas are a 10/10!!! HOWEVER the want to stress that the ONLY reason I am giving four star and not five is because the price of the food is too high for the portion size. I hope the proper people see this and we get fatter tacos!! Premium quality for sure

One of my favorite places in Omaha. B beef and fried chicken tacos - chipotle ranch. The fried corn on the cob is a real treat! The menu changes are not always up to date so watch for that. Otherwise if they make something wrong the owner will comp you and listen.

These are weird reviews. I go here about every 2 weeks - they are just down the street. Maybe the negative reviews are based on preconceived notions? This is not Taco Bell. This is not California Taco. This is not upscale. It is yummy food wrapped in a tortilla. It is a bit expensive. Service is ok. Parking is usually good. The Barbacoa is really quite good.

I love Voodoo Taco!! When we entered, we were greeted enthusiastically by Charles. He quickly deduced we were new and immediately gave us a thorough overview of the menu. He started explaining the sauces that are available in one ounce containers on the side. I ordered the Dona and Aleppo. The Dona tasted like bland paste to me. However, the Aleppo was delish! It was a sweet, spicy, tangy sauce with a black pepper finish. I decided to get the Fried Avocado taco, the Blakened Mahi Mahi taco, and the side order of black beans and rice. All were perfectly seasoned and scrumptious. I couldn't eat all my food. I was sad to leave some behind. I saw the drink specials and hope I'll be able to return before leaving Omaha for a hurricane!

My first visit to Voodoo and in spite of my 2 star rating I am going to try it again. I went to this location between granddaughter softball games on Tuesday night. The place was about half full and I was the only person in line when I arrived. I ordered two Fried Chicken taco's to go. It took twenty two minutes to get my food which is excessive in my mind for two tacos. I think my food was done earlier but they just let it sit on the counter in a sack for at least 5 minutes. The taco's themselves were nothing to write home about. In fact there wasn't much chicken, but a lot of lettuce and it was hastily wrapped in aluminum foil. Next time I will dine in and try additional items just to see if this was a one time location problem or is the process throughout the Voodoo's in Omaha,

First time into Voodoo Taco. The service was good! I ordered the blackened chicken nachos and had them to go. Upon my arrival back at work discovered they had neglected to give me and napkins or plastic ware. The toppings for the Nachos was good. Blackened chicken, black beans, retried beans, corn and some other spices. The cheese topping was ok and the Nachos were stale. Needless to say I probably won't return. I was disappointed in my meal over all.

When Voodoo Taco first opened a few years ago I was so excited, I thought it would be a nice addition to Omaha taco options. When I tried it then I was very disappointed. I chalked it up to being new and still working out the kinks. I've come back once a year since hoping it would improve but I can't honestly say it has. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing? Today I tried the Green Chile taco and Smoked Brisket. The chile taco was lacking something. Way too much meat that was fairly dry, really large chunks of onion, and cheese. It was begging for a sauce or maybe some pico to freshen it up. The Smoked Brisket taco was so incredibly large it was very difficult to eat. The refried beans and corn in the taco was probably enough for 4 tacos, completely voiding the taste of the smoked brisket. I tried the brisket on its own, and it did not have a smoked taste to me. I really want this place to be good but I have yet to be impressed with my choices. On the positive, I was able to taste the Barbacoa taco and if I go back will definitely order that. The one bite I had was pretty good. Also, the staff are very welcoming and nice. We got offered extra chips when they arrived to our table to see that we had dip left and no chips. Maybe that's their standard, but it was appreciated. The Queso was quite good. The service is quick and the restaurant was clean. I'm interested to try the other location and truck to see if there's a difference.

It took some gentle encouragement on part of the owner, but I [finally] revisited Voodoo Taco a little over a year after my initial review. Since that time I've also recently had food from the newly christened Voodoo Taco truck, which visited my place of employment midweek. I will say I was a bit wary to eat from the truck after some stories I've heard, but happy to report I did not suffer any ill effects (unless you count eating too much). Our return to the restaurant was spurred on with a meal on the house (full disclosure). Though as I assured the owner, I wouldn't let something like that affect my review. This time, the menu board TV was fully functional. But I wish I'd had my glasses as I found myself squinting. And we still had to get out the paper menu to figure out side-sauces. (That would be a good thing to get printed out and have on a poster-board or something for ordering). We ended up with many of the same varietals we sampled last time... Smoked Brisket, Barbacoa Beef, Alligator. And a couple of new ones. "Taco of the Month" was the Arabes (cotija cheese, Mediterranean pork, 4 chili sauce, cilantro lime tzatziki, lettuce, cotija cheese and pico de gallo) so strange sounding I had to try it - and a Fried Chicken. Starter was a basket of chips... some of which were HEAVILY seasoned (to the point of avoidance) and some delicious queso dip. The kind that you really can't stop eating, but there's so much of it you know you shouldn't dare finish it all. Dessert, eaten later at home, was the 'Voodoo Brownie' from somewhere the manager couldn't recall. "Chocolate... something". The description sold me easily: Double-Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Chipotle, Bacon Brownie. This seems to be the theme at Voodoo, many crazy combinations of flavors, which are obviously not intended as generic crowd-pleasers. This one was right in my wheelhouse, and the best thing I've eaten from Voodoo. The tacos came out in two baskets, but honestly I had trouble identifying which was the Alligator and which was the Arabes even after a couple bites. This is probably because I didn't read the description for the Alligator, but both had decent flavor. I [think] I preferred the Alligator though since the Arabes had too many crazy contrasting flavors going on. Ironically last time we also had trouble figuring out which taco was which. I would say perhaps this is a personal flaw, but Bill can back me up on this... we could tell what the meat types were (generally) and after biting into them it was more obvious still. The Alligator I finally identified when I realized the Arabes didn't have corn in it. Also looks like I didn't read the descriptions - again - just like last time. You know what else I obviously didn't read before ordering? My previous review. I sampled bites of all the tacos (note, it was obvious that shells were at least thrown on the grill at some point before serving) and they were all a-okay. Nothing I would fight anyone for, but decent and filling... or was that the cheese dip? The biggest difference this time was that the meal was definitely edible, which I have to say is a big step forward. My favorite were probably the Alligator and the Barbacoa Beef. The Carnitas was probably the least appealing, on account of the dryness of the meat. Would I drive out of my way to get here? Unlikely. But many people would... and do. Enough so that Voodoo has expanded to Nebraska Crossing, the aforementioned truck, and soon Aksarben Village (where it is entirely likely I will try for a fourth time. Or fourth-meal). Not a restaurant I'll probably factor into my regular rotations, but it will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood, I'm sure.

Received an apology and reasonable explanation from Voodoo Taco regarding the food truck misfire, so decided to try for dinner. I had green chile taco, fiancee had mahi mahi taco. Neither of us cared for the mahi mahi one but the green chile taco was quite tasty. Particularly enjoyed the Aleppo sauce. Chips and salsa were decent. The chips seemed to be freshly baked. Salsa was pretty good, could have used a smidgen more kick. Cool decor, music videos on one side, TV sports on the other. Will return.

This place has been on my radar since it opened a few months ago. Let's start off with what I liked. Their sign out front is pretty much the best restaurant sign in town. Really cool logo/lighting thing going on there. The decor inside is nice as well, spacious, a little dark but nice and clean. It's perfect for families or single dudes who want to grab a craft beer with their meal at the bar. Oh, and $2.50 PBR tallboys will get my approval every time. The staff was also very friendly. When we stopped by on a Friday night, the line was long but moved along quickly. Our food came up pretty fast too, with someone coming by regularly to check up on us and make sure we were happy. Now on to the food. Let me say I'm a big fan of Mexican and Mexican-inspired food in general. Some of my favorite meals in Omaha have been in the confines of a hole-in-the-wall taqueria in South O. I appreciate the concept of Voodoo Taco, but I think they could do a little better on their food execution. So I ordered two tacos, an alligator sausage and a green chile. The gator sausage was very good, as was the tomatillo salsa I slathered it in. The rest of the taco, eh, not so much. If I didn't pick out the gator meat, the taste was dominated by a pile of shredded lettuce and flour tortilla -- bland, bland, bland. The green chile taco fared a little better, as the pork was juicy and tender. Still, I felt there was a bit too much cheese piled on top that buried the deliciousness of the meat. And again on a lukewarm flour tortilla. I have to say I prefer steamed/heated corn tortillas 9 out of 10 times and this case was no exception. On top of it all, tacos range in price from about $4 to $5 apiece. A little pricy for the amount of food you get. Still, I plan on going back at some point to explore the menu a bit more.

This very well may be the worst "taco" food I've ever had. This was God awful. It looked and tasted like it came out of the frozen food isle. Go ANYWHERE else

Overpriced and bland. People told me it was the best, but it was far from it. I'll stick to authentic tacos and leave these for their fans.

I went to Voodoo Taco a few months back for lunch during the week. The guy that took my order was very nice and answered a couple of my silly questions about the tacos. I ordered and about 5 minutes later, they brought me my two tacos to my table. I got the Babacoa Beef and the Pork Carnitas taco. Both were very good made with fresh ingredients. The only downside is that they are a tad pricey IMO. They were very good tacos, but $4 for one, smaller size taco is a tad pricey. I can understand why they are expensive, but I don't think a normal joe will pay that. I will be going back again, but due to the price, I won't become a regular.

THE WORSE tacos I've ever tasted. It tasted like they stuck their hands in the outside garbage and placed the content on the tacos. It was not flavorLESS it was horrible combinations of flavors! The meat was dried out and they used a very cheap cut of steak! The chip and dip tasted jarred so nothing special about that. We ordered four different tacos... Steak, Chicken, Alligator and a fajita taco... all of which were disgusting. I offered my children some but they refused to take a second bite. I did not get around to taking a picture because I threw them away to spare my brain any memory of those horrifyingly disgusting culinary disasters! But.... the waitress was nice. I usually lie when the waiters come by and ask how the food is... I usually just say.. . oh yea... it was fine. But I couldn't hold back... nicely, I said that we did not like any of the tacos. She offered to replace the tacos with any tacos of our choice. However, the tacos were so bad that I declined and left. I need ice cream or something to get the flavor out of my mouth!!

This place has notoriously provided anywhere from great food to really bad food. And they also have the same problem with service... either you get a really helpful and knowledgeable person behind the cash register or somebody who just doesn't know what they're doing. Their drinks are ridiculously overpriced for what they offer. What was most disappointing and let me to leave this review was when my folks are in town from Texas and ordered the smoked brisket taco and got a bunch of fat and grittiness! This is happened before when ordering... It is also happened where we have gotten a great smoked brisket taco. Basically, the fact that you can't rely on this place and the amount of money you're spending for a good meal, leads me to rate this with the lowest rating. If they were consistently good, then I would be more than happy to give it more stars.

This place is getting better each time I come. Delicious queso and chips, love the avocado taco. Not trying to be authentic Mexican but it's fun to try their unique takes on tacos. I don't usually count on it being quick, despite the casual atmosphere. It's best to come at off peak hours, order, take a seat at the bar and get a beer while you wait.

I have been coming here on a regular basis for awhile now. It's been great to see both the product and service improve to what it is today. I usually get breakfast burritos with the quality brisket. Super good and two of them have me absolutely full. I love the vibe and looking forward to visiting the new Aksarben Village location coming up.

Great atmosphere and breakfast tacos. The service is superb. I've tried almost all their tacos on the menu and have found them good, but nothing to write home about (except the breakfast tacos- have I mentioned I like those?) It's nice to have the variety of sauces available although I haven't found one that I like particularly. The beans and rice are pretty terrible- very little seasoning to either. The presentation was pretty though! In short, if you're far away from authentic tacos like I am, Voodoo will do in a pinch.

We started with terrible chips and mediocre guacamole. Little did I know this would be the highlight of the meal. First off we order, guy never mentions sauce options and seems confused when we pick corn tortillas (menu states corn or flour). Then I decide I want a beer as my beverage - I must have been the first person to ever order one since he had no idea how to handle that. We pay and he sends me to the bar with my receipt. A very odd system. First item out is chips & guacamole. The chips were an extremely small portion and they were 1/4 crumbs, 1/4 overcooked, 1/4 undercooked and 1/4 normal. The guacamole wasn't horrid but it had way to much liquid (from the tomatoes and the lime juice). It had a moat of liquid all around it. Next up tacos (finally - after a long wait at a 1/4 full restaurant). I chose one Pork Carnitas and one Norteno (fajita-ish). First problem is that the corn tortillas are straight out of a bag! The were not griddled or warmed in anyway so of course they immediately fell apart and had that raw corn taste to them. This is taco 101 people. The "carnitas" was actually pulled pork but had a decent flavor and the other toppings on that one were fine. The Norteno was full of overcooked under seasoned steak. It was so over cooked you couldn't even bite thru it - the whole pieces just came out with every bite. My gf chose a chorizo, egg & cheese on flour and a carnitas on corn. Her opinion on the carnitas was the same as mine. The breakfast taco fared a little better but was by no means a hit. This was a total disappointment. Did anyone ask if we liked it - no, did anyone even seem to care about anything - no, will I ever eat here again - NO.

Very disappointed to find out food already comes pre cooked & just warmed up, had high hopes. Tasted good, but now that I know they don't cook the meat fresh there I'll go elsewhere.

Loved the Barbacoa taco, very generous meat portion. Husband was quite hungry; he had 3 tacos and chips and guacamole. Really good chips, good seasoning. Guac seemed a little too acidic for me, but otherwise had great flavor. Will probably go back for the Barbacoa tacos. Ordered to go. Very polite and helpful staff at Fort St. location. Fast service.

This place is so cool! I had the steak fajita taco and house margaritas. My sister had the alligator tacos. Fresh and delicious! The prices are great too. I'm a fan!

Voodoo taco, great food but I would say it's overpriced for what you get. Atmosphere is very unique, don't go their late if you want personal service and or experience as you order at the bar and sit yourself down. None the less the food was good.

I've been to Voodoo Taco many times, mainly because of trivia night every Tuesday. You'd think by now I've had every taco on the menu, but I haven't yet. What can I say? I have my favorites! I really like how they've decorated the place, where they chose to not go over-the-top. Small stuffed voodoo dolls adorn the walls here and there, but not to the point of being creepy. The overall look is like something from the infernal underbelly of New Orleans, but much more subtle. This is a cafeteria-style eatery, so ordering is simple, especially if you want to get in and get out without waiting too long. As for the food itself, the prices might initially seem a tad high for tacos, but there is enough substance to them that I feel like the prices aren't unreasonable. Two typically fill me up just fine. If I'm really starving, I can go for a third, but usually I feel fairly stuffed (and slightly regretful) if I do. Here are the tacos I've had so far: Alligator: Don't fear the name! The sausage is actually quite good. My complaint with this taco would actually be the sauce they put on it. It has a sweet vinegar taste to it that I feel is distracting from the rest of the taco, which is too bad. I think with a better sauce, this would be great. Avocado: This is quite good, but the cabbage adds an unnecessary crunch and flavor to it that I don't think is needed. I think they tried to overcompensate for the lack of meat, but I think the fried avocado has enough body and flavor to it that it doesn't need too much more to fill out the taco. I think any cabbage harms the flavor and texture of all the tacos on their menu that have it, and should be done away with altogether. Barbacoa Beef: This is one of their more popular tacos, and I understand why. The main flavor here is the barbeque beef, and everything else in this taco compliments it well. If you don't like the flavor of BBQ, it might be best to steer clear of it. Otherwise, this one is always a safe choice. Fried Chicken: This is a pretty good option for the less adventurous. If you must go with something plain, this has all the normal fixings of a typical taco with fried chicken. Green Chile: This one's the best! My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it, but buyer beware: this one can be pretty spicy! It seems like the level of spiciness is never consistent, but the ghost chili dust can hit you pretty hard. It can also be messy, but it's so worth it! Norteno: I expected to like this one way more than I actually did. I think the fajita steak is what holds it back by being a bit tough to chew. Otherwise, I enjoy everything else that they put on this taco. Pork Carnitas: Again, the cabbage really distracts from all the other great ingredients, adding that unneeded crunch and flavor. Also keep an eye out for the lime wedge, or else you'll forget about it and bite into it, which is unpleasant! Smoked Brisket: The brisket in this taco is interesting. It's almost like extremely thick strips of bacon, which wasn't bad. Took a couple of tries, but I really like this one. Steak Fajita: My complaint regarding the fajita steak in the Norteno taco still holds here. If it was more tender, I think I'd like this taco a lot more. Voodoo Taco also features special monthly tacos, but the only noteworthy one I've had was called Argentinian Beef, and it might be the best taco I've ever had there. This deserves a permanent spot on the menu, and if the owner reads this review, please consider this (or at least carry it again for another month). For a T-shirt and a spot in their Hall of Fame, you can try to down three of their Diablo Tacos, which apparently pack an absolutely brutal amount of heat. Good luck. Each taco comes with the option of having a sauce on the side, which seems a tad extraneous. I've only tried Chipotle Ranch and Habenero Lightning, and I liked them okay. The chips and queso are pretty decent. They garnish the queso with some extra cheese, a little quacamole, and a dab of pico, which sometimes is too much. If you're ever considering the Voodoo Brownie, I wouldn't bother. I'm all for exotic things, but it just doesn't taste good to me. This place rates at a solid 3.5 for me, but since that's not an option, I'm going to round up to a 4. I really like their style, and I like how engaged they are with their customers on Facebook. This particular building has proven to be tricky for all previous tenants to survive (why this is, I don't know), but Voodoo Taco seems to be defying the odds with a winning formula and strong social media presence, and I have to respect that. Although, with locations at the Nebraska Crossing Outlet mall and Aksarben Village, I could see them moving out of this spot, as it's rarely busy. Wherever you happen to live, if you find yourself near a Voodoo Taco, pop in and give it a try! It's worth checking out.

My wife and I decided to try Voodoo Taco on the recommendation of our daughter and my wife's coworkers. The food was delicious. My wife had a Shrimp taco and Mahi Mahi taco. I had a Barbacoa Beef taco and a Green Chile with carnitas taco. The tacos were full of flavor. Each taco came with a choice of a sauce, served on the side in a small plastic cup. The sauces were good too. My wife got a spicy ranch sauce and a tomatillo sauce. I got a tomatillo sauce and a Dona sauce, which was a green creamy jalapeño and garlic sauce. The Dona sauce was my favorite. Their chips and queso tasted different, but very good. The cheese was what tasted different. It came topped with fresh cilantro and some of the Dona sauce drizzled over the top. Very good. I will become a regular to this eatery.

OK I've been here...5 times? So I feel like now is the time to write my very first Yelp review. Atmosphere...great. I don't understand some of the previous comments about how people didn't "know" how to order, etc. Go to counter. Order food. Pay. Go to bar if you want drink. Pay. Sit down. They bring your stuff. Easy peasy. Yes, the chips/queso/guac come out with your meal. This may bother some but I really don't care, because all of your food comes out within 10 minutes. I like to eat chips with my meal. Queso...so good. Not too spicy, but it does have a little kick to it. It is clearly home made and not just melted cheese. I don't care if some taco chips have more seasoning on them -- their chip seasoning is SO GOOD. I've never tried their salsa/guac cause I eat plenty of that stuff other places and I never want to skip out on not getting queso. Cause I'm addicted. OK so onto the tacos that I've had: Barbacoa -- slightly sweet/spicy. Not dry. So good. I usually get one every time. All my friends that "don't like barbacoa aka Chipotle's" that have tried a bite of it have loved it as well. So. Not like Chipotle, but so much better. Pork Carnitas -- Nice and light. Love the lime with it. Great cheese pairing. Alligator -- the only one I didn't LOVE. I did really like it, and it is worth the novelty of trying alligator. I just don't think I like the texture of alligator. Fish & Chips - Their tartar is great. Not too heavy on breading. Mahi Mahi - I don't know what mango coulis is, but I love it. Kinda spicy but so so so great. Green Chile -- whatever they marinate it in is so gooooood. So tender. I usually try their monthly taco special as well, but I can't really remember which ones I've had. Bottom line, I've never had a bad one. Sauces are great. They come in small containers so you don't totally douse your taco in them. Sauce is supposed to COMPLIMENT a taco not overwhelm it. I usually go with 2 other people & we each get 2 tacos & split some queso. For people who say it is "too expensive for not enough food" -- this is a UNIQUE PLACE. Sometimes trying new flavor profiles & quality ingredients is more important than getting a buttload of food. I come out feeling full but not totally stuffed (unless my friends don't eat the chips + queso fast enough, in that case I inhale them & I'm super full) I've always had great service here. They are always willing to correct any problems (brought wrong taco to a friend once, one time my taco was kinda cold & they immediately corrected). Cashiers are always willing to give you awesome/specific recommendations. I wish there were more restaurants like Voodoo in Omaha. Not too expensive, fun, cheap & kind of an adventure.

My boyfriend & I go there every week. I love the chips & queso & I get the avocado taco every time. It's. The. Best! My bf likes to try different kinds of tacos & says this place is "super good" when it comes up in conversations. He is a VERY picky eater. On a side note, I'm really confused about the reviews I've read. I think all you bad review people need to open up your own place before you leave such harsh critiques. Do you know what kind of impact those kind of reviews can have on a business, especially a new place that's still learning what works for them & how to improve things? I wish some of you would reconsider your words & be more helpful in your review instead of hurtful to a new business. Yes I've waited a bit for my food from time to time & yes they are no longer serving the sweet tea I liked so much but it's still a good place, seems like they treat their workers right, they are all nice & friendly. I love the atmosphere, great place for kids, they always ALWAYS ask if we have everything we need & if everything was good at least once a visit & you don't *have* to leave a tip. It's worth my money every week :)

Voodoo taco was a pretty decent and inventive taco joint, but it was a little pricey. I liked the kooky decor and the open layout of the space. I would probably have given this place an extra star if it was a little cheaper. Most of the tacos are hovering around the 4-5 dollar mark. The staff was friendly and playful. I sat at their tiny bar and chatted with the bartender, who also happened to be the head chef. Super nice guy and was clearly passionate about the establishment. They also feature salsas made by a local company out of Bellevue, which is kinda cool. Some of them looked mind-alteringly hot. I'll probably be back to have a margarita and try some of their other tacos and food sometime. Still, like too many newly opened taco joints, this place is overpriced in comparison to the excellent quality Mexican food that can be had in South O.

Sorry I didn't post a pic, but I didn't want to be reminded of those tacos. My taste buds were disappointed, as I did not like the blend of flavors. This place is on my short list of places to never try again. I have to tell ya, my family promptly went elsewhere for dessert to cleanse our palates. I will go anywhere else for tacos.

I've been here three times now and I've never had a bad experience. The style of service is semi-fast food like Chipolte or Jason's Deli. Order at the counter, choose your sauces, and they bring your food out when it is ready. I've tried the Baja Shrimp, Breakfast Chorizo & Eggs, Short Rib, and Chipolte Pork tacos - all very delicious. My food was ready in less than 15 minutes, but I usually go during off hours. The only improvement I would suggest is more MEAT in some of the tacos! The Chorizo and Egg taco was a good size 2 times out of 3. I would say it is worth a try!

We really wanted to like this place, but it's consistently not good. We aren't coming back. My fiance and I have eaten here a few times and MOST of what we get is bland or greasy. The Barbacoa Beef has lots of flavor, but our trays had puddles of red grease on them after eating. Just about all the other tacos we've tried - Mahi Mahi, Baha Shrimp, Green Chili, Pork Carnita, Alligator - have been very bland. It's a tortilla with a tiny bit of protein, and a huge mount of lettuce. The only saving grace of any of these tacos was the sauce. All you taste is sauce. We ordered the Carnival Corn and it came out room temperature/almost cold. We asked someone at the counter if it was supposed to be hot and she said yes. She said the holding bin it was being stored in was supposed to keep it warm. I've worked in restaurants long enough to know that food stored at this temperature is dangerous. She took the corn away (which tasted like corn straight out of a can, for the record), and gave us chips and guacamole instead. The guacamole tasted like straight-up mashed avocado with some tomato and cilantro on the top. Guac is one of my favorite foods - and this was the worst I've eaten. Someone in the kitchen should learn to taste the food before serving. Salt? Pepper? Lime? Bueller? Poor seasoning on just about everything. At $4-5 a taco, we will go anywhere else for a taco. I think a lot of improvements could be made if the cooks would taste the food before it is served. Perhaps a smaller rotating menu would serve them better, as well. Focus on making a few REALLY good tacos instead of 20 bland tacos.

Tasted good but not worth the money. I got the smallest Taco ever for $4. Barbacoa was delicious, there just wasn't much in it. More like an open faced taquito. My wife's chicken taco also lacked substance. They were tasty, but they were so miniature it wasn't worth the price. I wish I could write more, but we drove out of our way across Omaha to try it, and went away sad and hungry for more. We actually even hit the McDonald's next door to get something to tide us over for our drive home...

Went here for the first time. Not impressed. Over priced for what you get. The salsa wasn't very good. It was watery and tasteless. The chips we got were stale also. As for the actual taco you only get one. I assumed for the price there would have been at least two. I got the shrimp taco which was purely frozen popcorn shrimp out of the bag that was tossed in the oven. Overall not going to sprint to go back here.

Damn. Good. Green. Chile. Tacos. Period. Our order got screwed up by a new employee, so the owner graciously rushed our order and comped us a couple of cocktails, for the "inconvenience" (there wasn't any, but I'll take free drinks, any day!). Great food, good cocktails and Green Chile Tacos to die for! Eat. Here.

Because you're on the internet and obviously in a hurry let me say, don't listen to the haters. Voodoo Taco is eclectic and delicious. They use quality meats, offer interesting menu items and they have my favorite vegetarian taco options in town. You'd have a hard time going wrong here. Now I'm just gonna go down the list of Tacos I've had here and rapid fire review them. Short-rib taco: Honestly, outside of Block 16 this is my favorite Short-rib in town. It's delicious, has great texture and will make you recite long forgotten spells of taste-devil-magic if you combine it with their smokey Aleppo sauce. Alligator Taco: I've never wrestled an alligator but I watched a dude do it in Florida once and when we locked eyes for a bit, I kind of felt something similar to when I ate the alligator taco here, which is to say a deeper understanding of the food chain. Really tasty, too. Avocado Taco: Finally something for vegetarians to eat that doesn't just seem like a salad with guac on top. You wouldn't think deep fried avocado would work but it does and if you disagree than your opinion is different than mine and also wrong. Carnitas Taco: I don't know what those pigs did to end up this delicious but I imagine it was probably something cool like hanging out in a ghost chili pepper hot tub blasting Warren Zevon on a boom box all day. Turkish Streetfood Taco: "You see what I'm talking about man! This is cool! This is something I want local places to do! Highlight lesser know culinary styles and flavors and combine them with more prevalent ones to make something that is both delicious and unique! YEAH!" "Sir, if you're not going to adopt a puppy I'm going to have to ask you leave the Humane Society." This place rules. Go here and eat good food. Or don't. I don't care, I'm not your dad.

Better Queso second time around. First time here was disappointing. Gator taco is awesome and barbacoa not too bad. Wife had shrimp taco and loved it. Watermelon tea was different but good.

We actually went to eat at VooDoo taco last night and it was really good!! The ingredients were super fresh, the tacos weren't greasy or heavy in the gut. We saw a line when we walked in and stood behind it but our unsure or confused faces must have triggered the gentleman clearing the tables. He questioned if it was our first time. He then redirected us to the bar for immediate attention. The bartender was incredibly helpful and patient with us as we perused the menu and asked questions. I did not expect such fresh tasting food and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The tacos start around $3 and go up from there. The barbacoa beef was fantastic, as was the chicken fajita.

I was a little hesitant after reading so many negative reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. The service was fantastic and our food was served very quickly. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the booths were nice and cozy. The guac and Carnivale corn was good, and the chicken fajita taco was great. The barbacoa beef was not my favorite, but that might just be me. My husband loved his salmon and alligator tacos. One word of warning: the spicy salsas are dangerous! Our friend covered his taco in one of them and was sweating profusely (actually it was pretty funny). Another amusing detail: the restrooms are labeled "Tacos" and "Burritos". I'm embarrassed to say it took me a minute to figure out. :)

On my last three visits to this location the kitchen staff truly cannot understand the english language as it has been written for many years. The management figures it is not a big deal and wanted to make me another meal. With any luck the owner will contact me to help get his issues resolved. Quality money should bring quality service and product. Voodoo Taco has failed in both. Omaha, NE N.90th Street location

I really wanted to like this place. The food was barely warm but tasted good. Very pricey. The quest isn't anywhere near as good as others made it out to be.

A friend and I recently ate at Voodoo Taco after deciding to try it because it was on PinPoints (buy one-get one--great offer!). I had the baja shrimp taco while my friend had the smoked brisket. We weren't sure if we should order one a piece or two a piece, especially since the staff said they did not come with any sides. Neither of us were super hungry, so one filled me up. However, had I of been more hungry I definitely would have needed two tacos. My baja shrimp taco was delicious. It wasn't overloaded with shrimp, but it also wasn't skimpy on them. My friend also liked hers, and the sauces we got with them were also great. My biggest complaint is price. My taco was $4.75. To me, that is a bit outrageous for just a taco. I can't image that a small side of rice and beans would cost a restaurant much, so for them to not even give that disappointed me. I would definitely recommend going to this place if you are OK paying more for just a taco. While it is delicious, it comes with a hefty price!

We went to voodoo taco for lunch and really enjoyed it. I ordered the goodfella taco (spicy Italian sausages and jalapeños) along with a brisket taco. They both were amazing with the Doña sauce. The price wasn't bad but the portion sizes could have been a bit bigger. Nonetheless, we will definitely come back and try the other tacos on the menu!

Bad service. Small portions. Overpriced. No guacamole and no rice. Girlfriends sauce was suppose to be one of the more mild and it burnt her upper lip. They should get a wait staff and do more with the bar area and add a unique drink menu. Nothing special here.

The ONLY reason I'm not giving this restaurant 5 stars is solely for the fact that I consumed too much of the raspberry scorpion sauce (3 containers' worth) and I ended up sweating so much it looked like I had just ran a marathon on a 98 degree Nebraska summer day! The best part was that I had to go back to work drenched in sweat - Ha! It was actually quite funny. I also couldn't taste anything else for the next 12 hours. Good times. Otherwise, the tacos are wonderful! I tried the beef barbacoa, green chile pork carnitas and a bite of my coworkers salmon taco. All of them were great! Just go EAASSSYYYYY on the raspberry scorpion sauce. It's wonderful, but man is it HOT! I LOVE spicy food like no other, and even this ended up being a little too much for me and it definitely can catch up with you (for me, it involved crying, swollen face and hands, sweating, etc). However, I guess I can't say it "catches up with you" when you've had 3 containers of it. Give it a shot! I'll definitely be back.

Just an updated review since it has been open for a while and I have visted several more times. My opinion on this place still hasn't changed. I love the staff here and the food even more. I am seriously in love with the bacon breakfast tacos. I can't find a better breakfast taco anywhere. The regular lunch/dinner tacos are still holding up to my expectations. I've since experienced the bar as well. They have a unique selection of taps (although I hate IPAs). They do have domestics in bottles for you gentlemen that can't drink good beer, and the bartenders were actually slightly knowledgeable....Not to mention good looking. I am definitely going to keep coming back here.

Tried the Omaha location. Food was average. Cheese on my taco was still cold. Queso was tasty. The place just seemed unorganized and unfocused. Sauces were scattered. Some you could get at the walk-serve yourself space... others you had to ask for at counter. No forks for the beans and rice... just plastic spoons. Menu was confusing and did little to explain. Counter person didnt help either. Decor was kinda cool but a bit run down. There are a heck of a lot places that can do tacos better. I will be surprised if this place is still open in a year.

Just ate there and place was way better then what I expected. Barbacoa tacos actually tasted like homemade barbacoa.Im hispanic and I usually tend to stay away from places like this but I was impressed with the flavors. There hot sauces actually gave me a little burn!

"can you give them a half a star?" is what my wife just asked. This place is terrible. Wet tortillas directly from a bag are not appetizing in the least. The service is still clueless after being open for several weeks. We watched the busboy try to give two other tables the wrong order, twice. The counter gal was unsure of her duties. There literally was no pleasant part to this experience. One and done.

Consider my 5 stars a participation trophy. Ate here a second time and workers were still clueless. Welcome to reality, because service sucks pretty much everywhere. This place definately has some process issues. However I would ignore one reviewers suggestion to go to Taco Bell. I guess I enjoy the bold attempt at some spicey food. Omaha has plenty of bland eateries. Go eat a burger there loser. Maybe with fewer customers I'll get my taco sooner.

Pretty much covered in the other reviews... Really want to like this place,. Atmosphere has more depth than the food.. at this point. Good Stuff - Green Chile Pork Carnitas were flavorful and moist - Barbacoa taco was good, sauce was a little heavy, but meat not dried out - Jalapeno Bacon & Egg taco had good flavor - Brisket taco was good as well, good mix of toppings - Sauces you can get with the tacos are flavorful if not plentiful - Inside decor reminded me of a House of Blues theme - You can get Breakfast tacos any time of night/day - Music playing was harder/darker rock which matched the theme of restaurant as well Not so Good Stuff - Slow service - Wasn't told that you can get flour OR corn tortillas - Chips are hit and miss some seasoned, some not, some stale, some oily - Salsa with chips is pretty flavorless - Sauces that you can order with your taco are in eye dropper sized cups - Tortilla are store bought, though they are at least heated on a stove vs microwave - Cheese cake taco was a miss IMHO - Some of the sauces they have on the self service counter are stupid hot (and I like hot sauces) - Price.. Getting two tacos, with no sides can run you 9 bucks add chips and a drink and you are @ $14-15 Most of the reviews here are love or hate. For me the jury is still out. I generally liked everything that I had and tasted, but I think it could be better. Seems like I missed some of the misses though... The tacos are fine for what they are - think a lot of people are hung up on price/addons and are expecting gourmet tacos. The experience and vibe is almost there and I hope that they are able to correct the small things that will make this place stay around for a while.

I love this place, not only is the atmosphere like nothing else you'll find in Omaha, but the unique style if tacos is out of this world. Whether you are feeling adventurous, or are into the Mexican basics- they have a taco to meet your needs. The quality of food and ingredients you get for their low prices is almost unheard of. The best part is they spotlight a new taco of the month, every month, which gives you a reason to go back time and time again.my favorite is the Barbacoa Beef, but I haven't had a bad thing on the menu yet! And this is always my go to when I have friends in town! It should be an Omaha staple!

I was a little nervous to try this place since the reviews were so mixed but I found the food to be amazing! I ordered the Short Rib taco & the Beef Brisket and I found them both to have a generous amount of meat and just the right amount of everything else. They were both flavorful and different than anything I've had recently. The beef brisket one was a little messy but worth it!

Having been to voodoo taco on several occasions I have tried nearly everything or at least sampled nearly everything on the menu and I have yet to be disappointed. I am pretty critical of my food and admittedly the idea of spending nearly $5 a taco didn't sound appealing, however, I am a huge believer in quality ingredients and don't mind paying for good quality. So taking into account the quality, I wholeheartedly believe the price is totally worth it. This is not your average taco joint, in fact it is quite opposite. The tacos are out of this world and the menu offers a creative take on tacos as well as sauces that range from sweet to knock your socks off heat. The alligator and Norteno are my personal favorites although you cannot go wrong with any! My only critique was that the sauces are no longer out on the counter. However I spoke with the manager and he explained that the bottles were being stolen and at $70.00 a gallon I can't fault him for that. I also loved that the manager took the time to explain this and was polite and friendly. All sauces are available upon request with your tacos and the heat indicator on the menu I found to be quite accurate!

Some of the best tacos I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I always look forward to coming back for more. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly. That being said the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because of the price. Three tacos will run you at least $11 with nothing else and they are pretty withholding of the amount of salsa they give you to go with them. If you more than one small under half full container of salsa they'll cost you $0.50 each. But, if you got money to burn and/or would like some amazing tacos then this is the place for you.

I can't get enough of voodoo taco the staff is great I have tried almost everything on the menu you can't go wrong with any of it whether it is fort location or Gretna if I had my choice I eat their every day my only complaint would be is they open at a 11 instead of 1030 but my favorite things would be barbacoa beef with Dona sauce and I love their alligator taco then for sides cheese and rice or chips & queso

I thought this place was phenomenal and I'm not even the biggest fan of tacos/Mexican food. Granted me and my wife visited during a time where it was pretty dead inside, we ordered right away and the food came pretty fast. The tacos were great. I got the Barbacoa beef taco as well as a breakfast brisket taco. Our waiter, Michael, who was also out bartender since we say at the bar was extremely nice and took phenomenal care of us while we were there. We also got to try a dessert taco which was a fried taco with cheesecake filling and it was delicious. I don't know what all the bad "press" is about because I thought the prices were very reasonable for how much food you get and the quality if the ingredients. I guess if you want cheap stomach destroying tacos stick with Taco Bell, if you want something you won't have serious regrets a few hours down the line then def give it a shot!

Wow, I'm not even sure where to start with this place and the food. I wish I could start the day out again and not go here for lunch. The chips for the guacamole where awful. What little chips there were in the basket were either broken (most of the basket), overcooked, undercooked, or stale. And they were corn chips, which all tortilla chips should be, but they were made with too thick of tortillas. That's probably why they weren't cooked right. The guacamole was okay I guess, way too limey and watery. After a very long wait (and they weren't very busy at all) our tacos finally show up. I'm not really sure what took so long to make a few tacos. Especially since they didn't heat the corn tortillas up at all. Evidently no one told the cooks that the tortillas are kind of still raw right out of the package. They still had that doughy masa taste to them. Here's a little hint guys, throw the tortillas on the flat top for a minute. And they use two tortillas per taco, so someone there must have went to a real taco place once and remembered them serving them that way. Too bad they didn't remember more about how real tacos are supposed to taste. Yes, real places use two tortillas but they are the thinner type (and cooked) not the nasty thick tortillas at this place. One of the two tacos I ordered was the chorizo, egg, and cheese. Thankfully these only come with flour tortillas so I didn't have two completely ruined tacos right off the start. It was also okay, though I'm not sure about their chorizo. Chorizo should have quite a bit of grease coming off of it turning everything a nice orange color. This didn't do that at all. About the only flavor I could taste was coming from the cheese sauce that looked to have jalapenos in it. My other taco was the pork carnitas. I wouldn't call this carnitas, it was more of a pulled pork. It had an okay flavor so I ended up pulling it out of the tortillas and eating just that. I had thought the prices were high before we got there but figured if they were as big as others were saying that it was probably worth it. Now after eating there, I know they are WAY too high and not really as big as people are making them out to be. I understand this place is out is West Omaha and I'm use to eating real tacos in South Omaha but jeez, tacos shouldn't be that hard to make anywhere. I'm not really sure how they've gotten the other high-starred reviews. Either it's from people they know not wanting to hurt their feelings or it's from people who haven't had a real taco from anywhere.

The only reason for two stars instead of one was the hot sauces. At least these good. The fajita tacos were not filling at all. The steak, however flavorful was overlooked and the chicken was quite dry. For $4.00 there was next to no meat yet an over abundance of cheese. As much as I love cheese...enough is enough. The $4.00 cost was for a single taco and nothing more. The staff was very friendly and polite. I would rather get 4 tacos from Taco Bell.

Tacos were good. Sort of a "bar food' kind of place. A little pricy for the amount of food you get, but a good place to grab a quick bite.

Very good quality taco, a little pricey for one taco but my wife and I were not disappointed considering Mexicans didn't cook it, it was amazing and the atmosphere looks awesome, the sauces are great the steak quality is extremely good. 5 stars if it offered military discount and or wasn't $4.00 for one taco.

Thursday Night. 8/22 It wasn't busy when my friend and I walked in. The cashier took my order which was 1 Short Rib Taco, 1 Brisket Taco, and Chips & Salsa. The chips and salsa came out quickly. The chips were very inconsistant as there were oily chips, stale chips, broken chips, overdone chips, underseasoned chips and overseasoned chips. The overdone ones were the worst. The runner wasn't even sure what was on my order and wanted to take my number before I even had my main entree. The Short Rib Taco I had a good amount of meat, but it was dripping wet. The outside of the flour (I wasn't even asked about corn vs flour by the order taker) tortilla was wet and ruined the tortilla. The Brisket Taco was mostly beans. There was about 1/4 of the meat the Short Rib taco had on it. This taco was also wet from the wetness of the other Taco. The brisket meat was also inconsistant as there were pieces that were jerky-like and some that were a little pink in the middle. It also didn't have a "smoked" taste to it. The amount of salsa I got with my order was ridiculous and I asked for another one as it was literally a dime sized dollop in a plastic cup. I asked for more and the runner grabbed me a couple more. The runners are also bus boys, I guess? They wiped our table off prior to us leaving and that was a little awkward. The best part about the meal was the brownie which aren't even made on site, they are outsourced from a local baker. I wasn't impressed and felt that this idea is more novelty than anything else. For this place, I'm going to be one and done.

Not Impressed at all, after all the hype it was very disappointing. this place is kind of like a Fast Food Restaurant with a dine in attitude. 1st you stand in line and it took us 20 min from the time we entered till we got to the counter. there were two registers but only one being used. then you go find a seat with your number in hand and they bring your food to you. I order the Fajita Taco $4.00 and the Carnitas Taco $3.75 with the hottest sauce on the menu Raspberry Scorpion. after about 20 min the food came out. Fajita Taco. I think they forgot the Fajita part of this taco, there was no seasoning at all on the meat, and if you order guacamole ask for like 5 servings they give you a tablespoon full. This taco was way over priced I have had better Stake Tacos at the local Fast Food Taco Joint. Carnitas Taco, this was the better of the two tacos but not the best . the Raspberry Scorpion sauce was the best part they are listed on there menu like BWW has theirs, so I went with the hottest, come to find out that they don't make there own sauce it comes out of a bottle probably like the rest of their food and don't get me started on the non heated up or cooked flour tortilla shell.

Service was pretty slow, but when I went it was the soft opening, so I'll give them some credit. The food was very spicy and not worth the price. I know a lot of places that I can get twice the amount of food for the same price. The food didn't have much flavor and didn't seem worth the cost.

Heard many mixed reviews from friends, decided to give it a shot because I'd rather judge for myself. For a Wednesday at ~5pm, it was pretty slow, so we were immediately greeted. Ended up ordering an avocado and barbacoa taco, as well as some chips and queso and beer to take it all in. Chips were excellent, especially because I don't have it in me to complain about a couple chips being more heavily seasoned than others. The barbacoa for me was ¡muy excelente! and I had to snag a bite of that yummy tempura fried avocado from the s.o. despite her efforts to block me out. Had a good time, food was served pretty quick and cooked properly, and a good portion for only spending a little bit of money, and hey! I drank a semi local craft beer (Peacetree Blonde Fatale - Knoxville, IA) that wasn't a crap Miller Lite vortex bottle! My only complaint, if any, was that after greeting us, we basically had to figure it out for ourselves and didn't know if we got seated or ordered from the counter and then sat down. We ended up getting our own beers from the bar, taking a seat in a corner, having another person deliver the good, and a fourth check on us and finish us out. No worries, I am an experienced human being capable of standing on my own free will and asking questions, so I made sure the ticket was settled all smoothly rather than frumpily sitting and waiting and complaining that my fat butt didn't get brought a ticket for 20 minutes. Oh, and the water was too cold.

How do we start??? My nephew and I, stopped in for lunch. Walked up to the counter to place an order. The workers were nice but when we ordered. There was nothing mentioned about the types of tortillas, salsa n chips. But we were asked if it was our first time. Told them it was our first time and still no mention of anything, just a weekly special taco and the days special. Any way we ordered the mahi mahi and shrimp tacos... Big mistake the mahi mahi would have been great without the fish. The shrimp another bad one, popcorn shrimp with avocados???The flavors were all over the place there's nothing gourmet about that... Will I go back??? No..

THE BEST TACOS IVE EVER HAD!!! I would like to give a little background info as I feel it will make my review mean more. I am very picky. I currently am a general manager for a restaurant/bar in Cedar Rapids Iowa and before that Managed restaurants for 14 years before moving to Iowa. My husband is a regional Manager for a couple restaurant concepts. Therefore we look hard at a place. My husband travels for work and when I have the time I go with...because of this we have eaten in several different states and citys. We like to eat so we drive quite a ways to do that. We were in Omaha this past Sunday Monday and Tuesday because we wanted to eat at Spezia (which also is amazing). During our visit we noticed Voodoo taco and knew we had to stop in. We were amazed with the food, decor, and definitely Kendalls wowed friendly service. We were so impressed we had lunch there the following day on our way out...which again was flawless with food and service. Mr. Owner, you have a great concept and your staff was impeccable. Kendall is part of the reason we stopped the second time. We now have two restaurants that give us reason to drive 4 1/2 hours to eat. We will definitely be back and I will tell everyone about this place. I think you should definitely build in Iowa (Cedar rapids, Iowa city) I would love to be involved if you ever get down this way. Sincerely, extremely impressed customer (Christina Morgan (319) 531-4175

I'm going to keep my review to the food - as we visited on their first Friday night. Yes service was slow ... but they deserve some slack as they get through their first couple of weeks. So, the food ... A few of our friends were vocally unimpressed with the steak on their fajita and Norteno tacos. I had it on the Norteno (fajita steak, refried beans, avocado, grilled onions, poblano peppers, jalapenos, asodero cheese) -- and I thought it was both seasoned and cooked really well. It was still tender and a little pink on the inside -- which isn't always the easiest feat to accomplish when cooking thin strips of beef. I had a noticeable lack of jalapenos and refried beans, though. I was the only one at the table to try the Salmon taco -- or should I say salmon and bacon taco. Holy hell there was a lot of bacon in there ... but bacon is the key to my heart so no complaints. This taco also comes with sliced carrots, napa cabbage, cilantro and asodero cheese on top. Next time I think I'll try it with the chipotle ranch -- it needed something creamy. I did hear rave reviews about the alligator taco. I may give it a go the next time around. Finally, the Carnivale Corn. This was by far my highlight of the night. If only they'd use fresh corn. It was clearly canned ... and when you're serving corn in Nebraska, you know your customers will be able to tell the difference. Despite that one flaw, this spicy, creamy treat is still a must-get! All in all - I'm going with 3 stars. The slow service would knock it down to at least 2 stars ... but again, I'm giving them a pass for now. I'll have to come back in a month or so to see if they've got things in order.

My boyfriend and I were anticipating to visit Voodoo Taco after all the mixed reviews we had read and heard of. Upon arriving we really liked the effort a local business like this took into the decor. Nothing that a professional interior decorator would choose but it was still nice to see the effort. We ordered food and we actually had to sit down and read the menu, it was very extensive and everything was just so different. We decided to try the voodoo dust on a taco and tried the short rib taco and a few others. The service was average but friendly. The short rib tacos were great! But everything else was sub par food you could make at home if you wanted to get creative with Ms. Dash and cajun seasonings. It was a bit steep for tacos but we may visit again sometime.

I've eaten at and picked up takeout from Voodoo Taco several times since they opened on 90th and Fort and try something different every time. My all-time favorite is the BLT taco with the tempura bacon. My husband loves the breakfast tacos. The per-taco price is more than reasonable - I've paid more for smaller tacos that weren't as tasty at trendy restaurants. Staff is always friendly, and seems knowledgeable and even passionate about the food. Great beer selection as well!

1st time in - alligator taco, pretty good. I'm a BIG sauce guy and the hot sauces are defiantly awesome. If you like hot, the habanero and raspberry scorpion will hit the spot. I certainly would recommend stopping in and checking out the atmosphere. Very different than any other restaurant in town. Good customer service, good beer selection, overall good food and good experience.

I so wanted to give a fantastic review, but I can't..... Let me start by saying, I firmly believe in trying to "shop local" at every opportunity, especially in restaurants. I have now dined in about 5 times, and have done 3 "carry-outs" The first time I went, there were some glitches, but.. I figured "they just opened; they'll work out the kinks." Well.. they haven't ....... Let's address the main issue first, service: The staff IS friendly, but not competent. It is utter chaos behind the counter. If you decide to phone in a carry out order, for gods sake.. check the bag before you leave. You would have thought by the 3rd time, I would have realized this. My orders were always wrong or missing something, and.. after raving about a certain sauce to try.. they never included it. Second issue: Food: I read some other reviews, and I myself didn't have an issue with the quality, but I did learn that it is NOT consistent. You may order a certain taco one day, let's say for example fried chicken, and love it. You could order it the next day to discover that order has 1 small piece of chicken and about 14 pounds of lettuce. I WILL rave about the breakfast tacos tho, which has been the main reason I have returned ( they are available all day) Third issue: The dine IN experience: The first time I went, I thought "What a cool, quirky vibe!" Well... It gets old. You combine the HORRID service , and the somewhat odd order experience, and it kind of wants to make you NOT return. For starters... you order at the counter, pay, and are given a number to take to the table. They then bring your food when ready. Problem is... you go to a self serve area for some sauces, PLASTIC silverware, and beverages. A few times I discovered it is NOT stocked, and it's such an odd set-up, there is heavy congestion in that area. Also.. I am an iced tea drinker, and I like whatever brew they are using, but sometimes they are out, or the tea is so old, you want to gag at the first sip. My MAIN pet peeve.... They have a bar on one side, but.. you have to pay separately for anything from the bar area, and the service on that side reallllllyyyyyyyyyy sucks. The bartender IS pretty cool, but they have her working her ass off, so you have to WAIT if they have her placing food orders, or helping with carry-out To wrap this up, I don't think I'll be going back any-time soon. I kept hoping they'd get the kinks worked out, but it seems to be getting worse. To the owner I would say: "You best get these issues under control, or you're not going to be open long".

Review as of 7/23/14: Voodoo Taco's food truck came to my work today so I gave it a second chance. Food actually didn't taste bad. Didn't even mess around with the sauces and stuck with the only thing I thought was good in the first place, the chicken fajita taco. Except...it took 45 minutes. People stood around anywhere from 35-50 minutes to get their tacos from a food truck. Tacos. From a food truck. How? Why? I will give an extra star for better taste this time around. But groups - don't get the Voodoo Taco food truck if you want everyone to wait forever. My Review From Way Back: This place was terrible. If you're going to have funky, out of the norm tacos, then you have to do it right. Soggy tortillas, lack of flavor and really yucky sauces. The chicken fajita taco was the only thing that was edible. We chocked down everything else. We also ordered the salmon taco, mahi mahi taco, brisket taco, rice and beans, and chips and salsa. Not impressed and very disappointed. We will never go back.

I liked the space although it feels a bit cold and empty, there is a cool homemade vibe. But the music ranged from trendy alternative to slightly metal. It's advertised as Cajun tex mex so how about some zydeco and tejano? Missed an opportunity to warm the place up. Service was friendly if a little scattered to start but our food came fast and several people stopped by to check on us and thank us for coming. But the reason you go to a restaurant is the food and I really wish I could say better. First really overpriced. We started with chips and salsa. Same issue as mentioned above. Undercooked. Overlooked. Stale some seasoned some not. The salsa tasted fresh but lacked any flavor layers. It needed some smoke or salt or garlic or more cilantro. We ordered the alligator, mahi mahi and a chicken taco. My daughters chicken was breaded under cooked nuggets on an uncooked tortilla. We weren't offered a choice of tortillas btw and no limes came with as stated on menu. The alligator was better sized and pretty tasty but again soggy doughy uncooked tortilla. My mahi mahi was very tasty. I like the cabbage and had it with the chipotle ranch. But the tortilla was inedible. Surprising cause they're mentioned in every review and they have to notice people aren't eating them. We all got rice and beans which was a huge mistake. The black beans were advertised as having jalapeño and bacon. Not a piece of bacon and no taste if it. No heat. Kind if sweet. The refried were just awful. Saw no cilantro in the cilantro rice and it was all cold. For chips and sals, 3 tacos rice and beans ice tea and 2 Small cans if Izzi we paid $40. Chipotle and La Mesa are much better and higher end food at a better price. Still I will probably go back in a month and give them a chance to iron a few things out. The staff was so nice that I'm willing to risk it. Grill the tortillas guys!!! Put some salt and pepper shakers in the table and clear the empty salsa bottles off the counters. And play some Clifton Chenier!

Went there Friday night for dinner. First off the gentleman behind the counter (I'm guessing the owner?) was just fantastic. He asked if we'd been there before (no) and explained the concept/food to us and was SO friendly and patient. We tried the avocado taco, the chicken fajita taco, the queso dip and upon his recommendation we tried a couple of the breakfast tacos. The dip was solid. I loved the avocado taco and my husband thought the chicken fajita taco was just OK (chicken a little dry). The breakfast tacos (chorizo and jalapeno bacon) were both good but would have liked the bacon a little crispier. My only real quibble would be the tortillas themselves - they taste store bought and were a little dry and chewy. If they fix those I would up this review a star! Also we had a pinpoint coupon which the gentleman forgot to ring up so he brought us two desserts to make up for it and gave us the coupon back. Honestly even if I thought the food was subpar I would give this place another shot just to give them business! We like to give business to nice people!!!

I was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of this taco joint with a twist. It very well may be my new fave place in town. Not sure what has happened during their growing pains with the other bad reviews, but they seem to have the wrinkles ironed out. The brisket taco was tasty with the smoky brisket and refried beans. The cream of the crop?? Yup, that was the pork green chili breakfast taco - and it was the most affordable too ($2.50/taco). Heat, spice, and greatness in a shell. Head there before noon strikes and you'll be pleased.

I decided to try this place yesterday during their soft opening. I had the Norteno taco (Fajita steak, refired beans, avocado, onions, pepers and cheese). At first I thought that at $4.50, it was a little expensive for one taco, but the taco was large and full of steak. It was definately worth the price. I had to wait ten minutes for my taco, but since that was their first day, the wait did not bother me. They have a huge selection of unique tacos and I will be back soon to try some of the others. The booths were comfortable and the upbeat music was enjoyable.

Quick service, Very Friendly Staff. Food was fresh and tasted great. I was there for supper, but a friend that recommended the restaurant said their breakfast tacos were amazing as well. I will definitely go back and take my family as well!

Food gets 4-5 stars. Tried several breakfast tacos between wife and I, they were all good. Counter guy this morning was lazy and customer service was poor at best. No Texas hot link, can't have chips & queso at 10am for breakfast. When you walk in a place for first time and the cashier is a punk and says, you can only have breakfast burritos, no ides or apps and no we can't even offer you the burrito you wanted, I wanted leave but I didn't because of my wife.

Loved the food! I had an avocado taco that I'm still thinking about. The avocado was fried and crispy and tasted wonderful. I also had a spare rib taco with deep fried onions on it. I would recommend either to anyone. I took several menus to hand out to friends. P.S. the margarita was just how I like them. My friend has a blood orange margarita and said she'd get it again in a heart beat. I had a bite of my friend's brownie. Had a hint of chili in it. And I forgot, I almost licked the Cason bowl clean. Very good.

The food took an hour and I understand they are brand new, but, it's tacos and they are made production style. The food was well prepared, however, it was cold from the wait. Unfortunately, Voodoo is too far for me to return on another visit. If you live in the area give them a few weeks to iron out the details and go give it a try.

For all the negative reviews, I would have to agree! Tacos, were alright. We ordered the special taco and it was pretty boring. If your going to be a gourmet taco joint, they should be above par. El rays is better and half the price. we also ordered beans and rice. The rice was so bad, it was like pudding. No one working seemed to be overly concerned about it. So is that the standard for your rice? I wanna like you, but your execution and service is poor. Step up the game!!

Ok, this is an update to my earlier review. Last review was 3 weeks ago, and this guy has done a 180! Today i went in as a guest of the owner Eric. I had the chips and queso, the Barbacoa Beef Taco, and the Short Rib Taco. Last time the tacos had barely any meat on them and i could roll them and eat them like a toquito. This time the edges of the 6 inch wouldn't quite touch. that maybe 3 times the meat as last time. They weren't as busy and service was excellent, maybe 5 min to get my food after placing the order. Like i said last time the food taste great and he really does have the idea of the food scene in Austin down. I wholeheartedly wish he could have opened in either far West Omaha or Downtown because his food is great, but his prices are still a bit high for his location. He uses almost everything local. His new chips are a product from Grand Island, so those of you who had chip issues he has changed chips and they were as good as anywhere else. Also he fixed his chips size portion issue. the chips now fill the basket they come in and the dips get their own dish. I went by myself and had enough chips for 3 people. The dedication to local products and other small businesses is really something I'd like to help him support! Little known secret, I was given a taste of a product not on the menu -- Cheesecake Taco with Raspberry sauce. Not bad I thought it was a bit greasy myself, but still tasted pretty good. Ask for it by name let them know Chris told you to buy it. LOL I'm leaving my old review so you can see how my 1st visit was and understand the changes I have witnessed. I have upgraded them from a 2 star to a 4 star. I hope you'll give them a try, or if you already hated it go back and try again! Finally, I will be going back at a busier time, when not a guest of the owner and see if they changes hold up. I hope they do I really want to see this place do great! I went to the voodoo taco because my friends were talking about it the food here. It is actually pretty good as long as you like spicy they put jalapenos on everything. Of course you can I guess have those removed when I put in my order I ordered NO onions and we got 4 tacos and 1 of them still had onions on it. They were quick to replace that, once i was able to let them know. You stand in line in place your order like a Taco Bell you take a number and go to your table. We did that it took almost 20 minutes to get our food. (Like a really bad Taco Bell) That was after we had placed our order we stood in line for about 10 min This place has the fast food feel but its a sit down restaurant. The decor is very much like the restaurants in Austin Texas which is nice if you like that. The only issue I really have with the place is that even though food taste good it cost way too much my wife and I spent $25 on 4 tacos 2 drinks and a brownie and now I'm going to go home and get some food. My Wife on the other hand had this to say. It looks Nice i like the Chandeliers, and the battery candle lamps. The food was so-so. It took to long. Everything was too spicy, but I liked the Avocado Taco. This is the wrong part of town for this place it should be at the old market, stay open late and get the drunk crowed. Way up here on 90th it's out of place they don't know their neighborhood, their food cost too much. For sure I'd go down the road to Albrados where the food cost the same but you get 3 times as much, and it taste pretty good, they're also open 24/7. I don't know if this place will survive once the novelty wears off, but i wish them luck. If they drop their prices to say half or increase their portions I'd go back. Until then Nope Sorry. I would have given them 1 star, but the food is actually good.

Voodoo Taco is new to our area, opening about 2 weeks ago. You order and pay at the counter, are given a number and your food is brought out to you. We were there during the first week and figured they were still working the kinks out. Service was slow, food was mediocre, limited seating due to tables not being cleared. We decided to give them a second shot. The menu is basically tacos with a choice of flour or corn tortillas though you are not asked which type you want and they don't tell you about their sauces. Both tortillas are from the bag and rubbery. I ordered a smoked brisket taco and a norteno taco. The smoked brisket was tender and flavorful, and the toppings plentiful. The norteno contained fajita steak. When ordering I told the cashier no jalapenos. Once seated my husband reviewed our receipt and noticed she had marked it "no avocado". Another trip to the cashier to tell them "no peppers, but yes to avocado". Service was slow and it took over 15 minutes for our food to arrive. I took a bite of the norteno taco and could not bite through the steak, thus with the steak hanging out of my mouth the entire taco pulled apart and fell into the basket. I was finally able to summon a server and explained the problem. She didn't know what to do and had to call another server over. I explained the problem again, showed him that every piece of steak was tough. I could not bite through the meat, so I could not eat it. He said he would have them remake it. He went into the kitchen and returned to our table saying "this is the way we make the steak here". What, uneatable? I finally asked if they could make me another brisket taco, which they did and had it out to the table quickly. The servers are either missing in action or wandering around the dining room. They don't seem to know what to do, but there are areas not being attended to. There was no ice in the beverage machine, no iced tea, no forks. It would appear that the staff is not trained properly or the restaurant is not managed properly . . . or maybe both. Tables were cleared faster than on our first visit but the floor was not clean. The other BIG area of cleanliness concern was the way food was served. Each taco is served on top of a foil square in a plastic basket. Servers do not use trays to serve the food or to bus the tables. Baskets containing used napkins, leftover food, used straws, etc. are stacked when the table is cleared. Food being served is stacked, basket on top of basket. We noticed this when other tables were being served. Fortunately our 4 baskets were not stacked, but the majority of others were. We looked at the bottoms of our baskets and every one had food and grease on the bottom. This would indicate the baskets are not completed washed between servings and dirty basket bottoms are being stacked on top of food being served. A sure way to make customers sick. We welcome Voodoo Tacos to Omaha, have eaten there twice but don't plan to eat there again or recommend them. If they are remiss on serving food in clean baskets, we would hate to see how clean their kitchen is kept. Not a safe place to eat folks.

I love the food here! I've tried about 50% of the menu and can't choose a favorite. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Also the service was excellent!

I am a huge fan of trying something new. That being said, every taco on the menu caught my attention. I tried the gator tacos and the sliced brisket taco. Both of them were amazing. They were LOADED!!! The flavor was awesome and was enhanced by the Raspberry scorpion sauce. (if you don't like hot, don't get that sauce.) I was also impressed with the kindness of all the staff. I will definitely come back!!!

First of all, a warning: This is not a taco truck. These are not street tacos. They are not authentic Mexican cuisine or even Americanized-Mexican cuisine like you get at the "Careful, plate's hot" places. Also, tacos are kinda messy - deal with it. That being said, I give this place 5 starts for the food and the service. We went on a Saturday - two adults and one kiddo. Ordering: They were not terribly busy, but one register was down which was unfortunate because there got to be a bit of a line backed up. I liked that the menu spells out what is on each taco and gives the hotness rating for the sauces. One thing to note - they did not ask what kind of tortillas we wanted. Only after we left did I actually see that all tacos are apparently available with corn or flour tortillas. We ordered three regular tacos, chips & queso, and a kid's menu PB & Banana taco. Total was around $25 including three drinks. The food: First of all, the queso is amazing - best I've had anywhere, hands down. It's very rich and flavorful, and the portion is super generous. I had the portobello taco and we split the deep fried avocado. My sister had the fried chicken taco. All three tacos were good, the portobello was the messiest to eat (the mushrooms are in a sauce), and the avocado was a little bland but it was fine once we added sauces. We tried the fire roasted tomato, chipotle ranch, and tomatillo sauces and they were all really good - great flavors and freshness. The PB & Banana taco was pretty outstanding - loaded with peanut butter, fried and dusted with cinnamon and sugar. I'd consider ordering that for part of my meal next time! I am excited to go back and try some other dishes. The amount of food was perfect for us for lunch and we didn't even eat all of the chips & queso. I'm surprised to see people complaining about the prices/portions, because I think it's quite reasonable for a fast casual place. Service: Service was really great. We got our food quickly with no problems, and the service was really friendly. Absolutely no complaints here. The venue: It's fine - nothing to write home about but quite sufficient. I liked the music (mostly 90s alternative rock) and the place is huge so it can definitely accommodate a crown. The location is the major bummer for me - pretty far out of the way of...well just about everything.

I've been to Voodoo Taco a number of times. The service was slow at first but really has improved. The portions are now very generous. Very unique menu that you won't find anywhere else in Omaha. If you've been there when it first opened and were disappointed give it another try. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the improvements.

Shh! Don't tell anyone but I've been there 10 times. Absolutely addicted to their Green Chile Taco and Brownies. None better. Friends loved the Salmon Tacos. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff.

Tried it last weekend. Talked a couple of people into trying it with me. Looking at the menu, I thought there was a chance that the companion who liked Really Spicy Food would maybe like the hot sauce. Not so. :-( Bummer. I, however, liked the Avocado Taco and the Portobello Taco I ordered. The other companion tried the Alligator, and the Carnitas tacos. He didn't care for the carnitas, but liked the Alligator. I tried a bite; it was tasty. The space was nice. The bathrooms were clean. Service felt ...unmotivated and distracted. The prices were reasonable...I guess. While the Avocado taco and the Portobello taco were the same price, there was a big difference in how much 'taco' you got. It just felt a little, "...that's it?" I think part of it was the long wait, even though the place was practically empty. Oh well. On a different day/night, it could have a totally different vibe. I'd say, try it; go when it's not busy, and take your time and try more than one taco... if you can afford to. :-)

I went to Voodoo taco yesterday on the advice of a friend. I liked the decor very much and was greeted by a staff member right away. Unlike the other reviews I just read, the food was delivered quite fast. It was late lunch time and they weren't busy so that is also why there was hardly a wait. BUT, I was not that impressed with my taco. I thought it was expensive for what I got AND it was served on a cold shell. I got the shrimp taco and there was hardly anything filling in it. I thought the $4.75 price was too much. My advice to this new restaurant owner is, flour taco shells are INEXPENSIVE why not serve two ( even two smaller sized ones would be ok )and add a bit more filling for maybe a quarter or fifty cents more and your customer would be full and satisfied and feel they got a great deal. ALSO, warm the shells please. I did like the taste of the filling and sauce and condiments so I will try them again and see if they have improved.

Well I gave these guys another chance. They will not get a third. The customer service still is very lacking, I dont think the teenagers they hired have had even 10 minutes of customer service training. They acted like it was an annoyance to have to help us. Had the barbacoa taco, the steak was so chewy that I couldn't bite through it, the entire strip of bland meat was pulled out of the entire tortilla. They might have heard the feedback that the tacos were small for the price, but dumping a cup of shredded lettuce on it does nothing but bulk it up and make it harder to eat and so much less flavor. More real ingredients would be nice. Since I didnt receive the sauce I asked for I had to go up to the counter and ask again. My daughter had the fried chicken and same thing, a lot of filler, not real food. She equated the chicken to the popcorn chicken gets at school. Expected more of a nice plump friend chicken tender. Got the queso and it was very good but again, the chips were hit or miss (some good, some stale, some undercooked, some overcooked, almost all too salty) and there werent enough for the amount of dip you get. One improvement was they food came fast (within 10-15 minutes of sitting down) but it was 5:30 in the afternooon. I was hoping for a better experience but for the money it isn't worth the quality or quantity of food you receive.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
