If you're up for a good dive bar...this is the place for you. Good prices, good patrons, good staff. We had a great time!

The 'Wood is a grimy place that hasn't really changed in decades. Which is kind of perfect considering the slight upitty-ness that Dundee exudes most of the time. This is a great spot to get to know the longtime locals of the neighborhood, both young and old. Yeah, the tables are wobbly. And sticky. And the (men's) bathroom is one of the grossest places west of the Mississippi, but the fact remains that the Underwood is a classless watering hole, perfect for all walks of life during all hours of the day. Don't you hate when you order a giant beer and they give you a plastic mug because they ran out of glass ones? I sure do. In times like that, look to the cooler behind the bar -- that's where you'll find the bottled craft beer.

I love this bar, right in the heart of Dundee, if you are in the mood for a huge freaking beer for cheap this is the place for you. Pricing in a 4.00 for a freaking huge mug is soo cheap the prices are always great here. This is a great Sunday funday location with kicking karaoke the karaoke dj usually rocks out at least one boys to men anthem and freaking kills it. It is a small bar with a great small town vibe with awesome bartenders and great patrons. The only downside is the god awe full bathroom with out a locking door and no toilet paper.... Ever! The girls bathroom is nice though, but don't let that stop ya.

It was a warm Friday evening when we arrived at the Underwood. The parking lot was very small and very full. I had to parallel park inside the lot, and the lot had only one entrance -- behind me. We ended up leaving the car here for the next couple of bars. As I took the picture of the outside, a woman ducked away saying "Oh, I can't be in your photo!" my friend jokingly informed her we were with the FBI. Underwood was one of our top picks and we soon found out why, this bar bills itself as The Hub of the Universe. The bar was pretty full, and as we started taking he indoor pictures, the women who had been outside asked what we were doing. My friend explained to her the trip we were on and how we had been out since Wednesday morning on a quest to have a drink at 100 bars. She thought that sounded awesome, and immediately turned to her friends and told them what we were doing. "Wow! That's like one of those things people people talk about doing but never actually go and do," said one of them. "Are you guys talking about anal sex?" asked another woman sitting catty-corner to the first group. That end of the bar erupted in laughter and word about what we were doing spread throughout the bar. We had a great time hanging out here and visiting with the locals. We did end up visiting 101 bars during out 5-day journey, and Underwood was definitely one of the best.

My favorite bar in Omaha! 32.5 ounce beers for $4, what more do you need? very chill and always a good crowd. love it!

The 'dive bar' of Dundee... it's really more of just a regular bar, but when compared to places like Pitch, Mark's and Dario's next door, sure it might seem divey. Ultimately it's a good place to hit up for some obscenely large beers... crowd is more relaxed than Beer and Loathing, there's more space than at Cork & Bottle and for some reason it seems quieter than the Dell. And for those reasons the Wood most definitely has a large following of regulars.

Definitely a dive bar but overall a good crowd and totally chill. Their prices are reasonably cheap. You can get a giant mug of Boulvard Wheat for only $5. Not only that but you can play Duck Hunt while you pound your over sized beer. Located in the heart of Dundee it's easy to bar hop or stay put. Sarah G said it well. It's quieter than the Dell and has more space than the Cork & Bottle.

Seemed like a place I need to frequent more often. Good vibe. Interesting crowd mix of hipsters, retirees, creepers, and college grads. Nice bartenders who like to joke around with ya. Most in here appeared to be regulars, which means this place must be doing something right.

Meh. The beer is cheap, which is good, but besides that not much to talk about. They have pool, darts, and those arcade game that every bar has but no one plays. The crowd is of the "PBR is the best beer ever!!!!" type so not a big fan of that, but there are usually normal people in here too. Really, like I said, not much to talk about. I wouldn't chose to go here, but if we somehow ended up here I really wouldn't be put off

All in all, as fun or as mellow as you want it to be. I've been to this bar a handful of times over the past year, but now that I live in the area, I've gone a few times recently, on busy nights and slow nights. On weekends, the bar will be busy. Sometimes, you may end up having to stand around for a few minutes, waiting for a place to sit - or for a drink. But you know... this isn't the kind of place I mind standing around for a few minutes at. There's so much going on to keep your mind off of the waiting. The drinks are surprisingly reasonably priced. They don't offer pitchers, which is a bummer, but they have large 32 oz mugs of beer for $3.50. I usually grab a 24 oz bottle of miller for about $2.75 - not bad for any bar these days. Bring cash or an ATM card - they do not take cards. Parking isn't horrible if you don't mind walking a block or so on a busy night. There's also a bike rack out front - which I doubt I'll ever use, but is refreshing to see at a bar. When you walk in, you'll notice dart machines to your left, and a very long bar stretching to the back. The lighting is just right - not too bright, but certainly not dark. In the back, there's a standard punch machine (which I haven't drank enough to be good at), pool table (which I've drank too much to be good at) (also - constantly in use, but you can always throw a few quarters up to join the queue), ATM (which I actually am good at while drinking), and for some reason, a jukebox. The speakers are always incredibly quiet, and I've only heard 1 or 2 songs I've ever played. Bummer. However, there are so many groups and couples chit-chatting and socializing that it would almost, allllmost seem annoying to have a loud jukebox playing. The bathrooms (at least the men's) is tiny, but we're usually in and out anyway. The crowd certainly varies, though I have noticed a fairly large portion of scenesters and the "emo" types, but most have been decent people so far (unlike some other bars that are a little too cliquey). I've never seen any hostility here, and the a-holes are few and far between. The staff seems generally friendly - but I wouldn't expect much conversation as the gals slinging the drinks are usually super busy. On weeknights, I've noticed a surprisingly large handful of people. Certainly not a crowd, but the bar is not as dead as 90% of any other bars I've seen in Omaha. Certain bartenders tend to be more willing to chit-chat on a slower night. If the atmosphere were any different, I'd have given a lower rating. But the bar and the staff work with what they have, and do a seemingly good job of it. The people are nice, the atmosphere never feels hostile, bleak, or boring, and it's generally a pretty good time.

The Underwood Bar, aka The Wood, is a bar with a pool table, several dart boards, and giant mugs of beer for very little money. The last thing I mentioned is what makes it so popular. A unique jukebox is in store for those with quarters.

The Underwood used to be my fave. Sigh. Time has not been kind to this bar. It's gotten really filthy over the last couple years. The clientele seems to get worse all the time, Trish rarely works anymore and the other bartenders (with the exception of the Sunday night bald asshole)--though nice enough--all seem to wish they didn't work there at all. Also, recently, the jukebox has developed this annoying tic of being regular volume for half a song, then BLASTING THE SECOND HALF. Not good. Still cheap, though, and nice location.
