The Old Mattress Factory is a good place to watch a game. I went here with a group to watch a baseball game. The building is old but updated. I like the decor and they have quite a few TVs to watch the game. I did not eat here but a few in my group did. One person ordered the nachos which came with the hottest jalapenos ever created. My husband loves spicy food and he was surprised at how hot these were. The waitress did warn us about the spicyness but beware if you order it. For those that love spicy food I would recommend trying it. They had a good selection of beer and drink choices. They also had $2 shot specials. We tried a few and they were not weak shots. Service was good and fast, even with a large crowd (Nebraska football game). The location is pretty good and if I am ever around Quest or TD Ameritrade I will probably be stopping in at Old Mattress Factory.

Sadly it seems the Mat is going the way of other restaurants in Omaha- skimping on quality and keeping prices high. We've always enjoyed coming here but the last few times have been less than impressive. The burgers are smaller and so are the sides. The pulled pork was cold and bland. This place use to be a "go to" for comfort food but not any more.

Pricey for what you get. A bit too loud and the bar staff inattentive. Good selection of bar food and beer, etc. Because of the level of service, or lack thereof, I only rate it a two.

took like 20 minutes for the waiter to get to our table...when you are hungry thats not good. the chips and salsa sounded good with the lime salt. Turned out to be tomato paste with chunks and really bad tostitos. Entrees were okay the ribs were dry and overcooked. Atmosphere was cool but we probably wont be back. $60 bucks for not good food:/

Not bad. I chose this because it was close to the hotel and it got some pretty favorable reviews. Good selection and lots of TV's. Donovan was our server and he did a great job. Very attentive and friendly.

This is a sports bar for sure and is likely a good place to catch a game(s). Pretty nice atmosphere for a sports bar. Pretty empty on a Tuesday night...service was fast at the bar but not very friendly...ordered a salad and added a chicken breast. Salad was good but the chicken beast on top was bland as can be and it was not cooked on a grill, more like a griddle. No seasoning or even pepper. Pricing was reasonable.

The Old Mattress Factory is a decent place to grab a bite to eat and a drink near the Qwest Center, but the location cuts both ways since if you're down by the Qwest you're probably there for an event. That means that this place is going to be a mad house, packed to the rafters. If there isn't an event at the Qwest, this place is deader than Michael Jackson. Too soon? I've visited under both scenarios, and much prefer the no event at the Qwest situation because the service is good and you don't wait an hour for a table. The food is hit or miss. I have had the prime rib special, which was somewhere between well-done and carbon, whereas I would have liked it 2 degrees above raw, but the waiter didn't ask. The french onion soup is excellent, but am I going to frequent a place just because I like the the soup.

This isn't the type of bar that you would necessarily seek out for a bar night, but for lunch, dinner, or a casual hangout with friends this place is great! The building was originally built in the late 19th-century, and it still holds the charm that it had during that era. It is very open, inviting, and with the exception of the televisions that scatter the building (what a shame) it's classy enough to make you feel like you're not at a bar after all but a lovely bistro. They have quite a few brews on tap, none of which are local microbrews (if Omaha even has any), but I had a pint of Moose Drool because it was a brown ale and I had never heard of it. It was really great, and might make its way into being my new favorite. The pints were $5.50 during the lunch hour, which is a bit steep in my opinion, but not outrageous. I ordered the nachos and a side caesar salad. They make their own croutons on site, and they were delicious. Nice and big and very crunchy with plenty of flavor. I appreciated the fact that the caesar had romaine and not iceberg lettuce, a tragedy that seems to be the norm at bars. The nachos were okay, but nothing too special. They make their chips on-site, so that was nice, but the nachos lacked beans which I think is a shame. The ground beef was well seasoned and the vegetables were fresh. If I'm ever at the Slowdown again, I'll definitely stop in across the street at the Old Mattress Factory.

The usual sports bar type of restaurant. Nothing outstanding. Rueben was just "ok", corned beef was too thick and chewy. Overall, just an average place, nothing special, service was friendly. The place is open and enjoyable, you're not rushed. If you're looking for great, awesome food, I'm sure there's better spots. If you're looking for a basic sports bar, this is it.

Just had a couple of drinks. Inattentive service on a slow nice, so I would hate to be there on a busy one. But it did have a nice atmosphere and a respectable beer list. The week night we were there was conducive to conversation since music wasn't blaring.

This is a cool place to hang out on a weekend night or after an event at the Qwest Center. It is fashioned in an actual old mattress factory. The timeline of the building is located right inside the door. So you can imagine, destressed brick, lots of open beams, neat woodwork. Now comes the food, my husband got the pork tenderloin and I got the bacon cheese burger (with provolone). Both were tasty and quite big. As for sides, they have lots to offer and you to choose which to accompany your sandwich. My husband got regular fries and I got sweet potato fries - mine were fabulous. It will be tough to get something else next time. The service was spectacular. Our drinks were never half empty. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, after 1pm. I have heard that it gets very crowded and very loud due to the hard surfaces in the decor. Otherwise, I can only see great evenings with friends at this place.

Stopped for dinner on the way to a Jay's game. Wow! Half of downtown had the same idea. Although, the wait staff was great in helping us scrounge up a table since we asked for a little help. We had to hover a bit, it was worth it. The staff was great the food was better than average bar food and the drinks were cold. The burger was average, the BBQ was better than average, the wings were better than average, and the pizza was good enought to order again -- but difficult to compare to other really good pizza shops in town. All of it was hot and fresh. The staff was very attentive on a very busy night. It was so good, we stopped for lunch before we left town the next day. Bottom line, worth the stop and a good place to frequent in that particular area of town.

Went to eat and watch the NU and CU basketball games. Ceasar salad came without the chicken. Hailed the waiter over who without my saying anything, said "Oh you didn't get chicken in your salad." He seemed to know. My fish and chips were extremely greasy, I tried removing the skin to make it more palatable but the grease permeated the fish. The slaw was good, that is the 2 tablespoons of it that came with the dinner. The waiter apologized for the B team that was cooking because they were more crowded than they expected. But they were one of the few bars broadcasting the Creighton game so shouldn't they have expected the turnout? Bottom line....worst bar food I have had in a long time.

Good food, great beer, and excellent service. What more can one ask for? The location is very convenient; a few blocks away from the yuppie-fest that is the Old Market. I really liked the ambiance because it was simple and to the point (I hate places with fake memorabilia plastered all across the walls). Even on a Friday night, the atmosphere was still pretty laid back and the servers were friendly and attentive without being annoyingly so (i.e. not rushing you to turn tables quickly). They have a good selection of beer; having Guinness on tap is worth 4 stars alone in my book (BLVD Pale Ale is quite good as well if you want to change things up). The food is standard sports bar fare such sandwiches, pizzas, and salads. I tried the margarita pizza and the soup made with gouda cheese. Both were surprisingly good albeit the pizza was a bit on the anorexic size for the price.

Caught up with some old friends from back in the day here. Had the No-Do sandwich, which was pretty decent, and the fries were yummy. Service was slow but friendly -- had to chase down our waiter to pay the check as I had a plane to catch. Loved the atmosphere!

DO NOT EAT HERE - FOOD POISONING!!! My coworker and I were in town for work, we both ordered salads and shared the spinach artichoke dip. We both got food poisoning, likely from the salad. It knocked us out for the whole next day, we couldn't get any work done. I tried to contact them, but they ignored me. Thanks a lot Old E Coli Factory.

I've only been here a couple times but overall it wasn't a bad experience. The menu is kind of small. I ate the black and blue burger and it was very good, lots of flavor and juicy. The atmosphere is alright, a little odd to me though. This place is a nice hang out on game nights but I don't know if I'll go back. Nothing about this place blew my socks off.

We were in Nebraska visiting family, and we stayed at the Hampton Inn right down the street (stay tuned for that review). We were haing breakfast the next morning and some random guy came up to us ranting and raving about this place. So we went to the zoo, then for lunch we stopped by THE MATT. We ordered the mixed plate - it came with Brisket, 1/2 slab ribs, and chicken, with a side of baked beans and coleslaw. The price was right at $22.00, and with 2 beers and a soda it came out to about $28. Not bad - the food was top notch. Apparently the head chef smokes all of the food out back everyday. The ribs are dry, but when you add the BBQ sauce the ribs suck it all up and the ribs become very moist and tasty. The brisket practically fell apart when the fork touched it. The chicken was deliciously most as well. I have ranted and raved about many bbq places - but this one is right up there with the best of them. The service was excellent. We went twice and both times great customer service. The Stinger micro-brew is the beer of choice - though it's from Texas I highly recommend it. The only downside to The Matt is that I am going to have to make a 2-3 hour plane flight next time I crave it. If you are ever in Omaha do yourself a favor and stop by The Matt for some delicious BBQ and great atmosphere. Don't forget the side of fresh ground horseradish either. Be well and enjoy the great food.

Food is really good here and the service always is. Better than just plain old bar food. Drink prices are a bit high, but they have specials for games sometimes that are fun.

I was in Omaha for the first time for business. The hotel recommended this place. It was walking distance and in a cool area of town. I was seated quickly, the service was friendly and attentive. I ordered a rack of ribs and they were terrific and priced reasonably. The atmosphere is fun and I would recommend it.

Great Beer selection both draft and bottle and knowledgable staff. Brat Burger was good although craved seasoning and the beans were outstanding. Definitely will be back next time I'm in town.

Good ambience but not impressed with the food. The Omaha burger tasted like something you would get at a McDonald's but more expensive. Chips and salsa was gross. Who puts black beans and there's salsa? Bar was dirty and a server walked through the dining room with a full bag of trash.

The crowd of servers in uniform chatting at the door should have been my first clue. Second clue - when a guy shouted out "seat yourself" Waitress was actually good and attentive. BBQ sandwich was the worst I've ever tasted. Literally, sawdust like in bone dry texture and flavor. Highly - NOT recommended.

When 'The Matt' first opened up I was a frequent user. I would usually stop by right after work and spend my hard earned tips on some PBR and the Portabella burger. A lot of people complained and the name was changed from Burger to sandwich as it was a meat free option. Whatever. I liked the smoked gouda and the fries that go with it, sub for sweet potato for a mere $1. During CWS the parking lot gets pretty wild and the outdoor beer garden is a nice place to grab a beer. So far so good. Why a 1 star rating? The answer to that is Omaha Beer Week. That's right. One of my favorite things during OBW is to go to spots that have special offerings. This year is no different. The offering that brought to 'The Matt' this time was the New Belgium Lips of Faith day. We arrived shortly after the start time and I ordered my beer. The waitress got argumentative with me and said it wasn't going to be going on until 6pm. That is a load. It was clearly stated that the offerings begin at 4pm and the raffle (for which I gave 2 shits about) started at 6pm. I was there for beer. Good beer. After our discussion showing that they were, in fact, starting at 4 I got my bottle of Le Terroir. It is a great dry hopped sour ale. Wifle got a glass of wine. And some fries. We got our bill and that is what garners the rating. $26 for a single bottle of beer? I didn't think to ask upon ordering it if I would need to take out a mortgage just to have a beer. The staff gave no heads up. No 'Are you sure?' No 'that's a $20+ bottle. No heads up. I had already drank the beer and couldn't return it is the manner they would want. I will not go to another event here. Pro Tip: Ask the price first. Be prepared to know more than your server.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant. It was within walking distance and after a seven hour ride, it was nice to get out and stretch our legs. Found the location with no problem. But, First thing first, could not find the entrance. Had to choose between 3 doors. No clear entrance. Made it in and was immediately seated. Lots of tvs with different sports on. That was nice to have a large variety. Waitress came over took our drink order. She seemed very nice and was very quick. When she came back, I, as a vegetarian, asked about their options. I assume they aren't asked this often as she seemed confused and didn't really know what to recommend. I asked about a veggie burger and she said she thought they might have some left over? Eek, from what? I decided to chance it as I didn't want to have a salad and that was my only other option. Glad I did. The burger was really good and the side of sweet potato fries were delicious. I did have to chase our waitress down to get some mayo and a refill of drinks. The place is too big to get their attention easily. My husband had the Reuben and he liked it. The decor was nice, the staff was friendly, the food was good, would I come back if we ever make it back to Omaha? Probably not, nothing was spectacular about the place, but it was fine and the food was good.

Wasn't impressed at all. I had a burger that was average. For starters we got wontons that were greasy and lacked flavor. They advertise a bucket with some sort of punch w alcohol that I didn't order but the table next to me did and it looked depressing. Doubt I'll return. Service was ok

Great atmosphere, ordered the brisket sandwich, which is reasonably priced and quite tasty! The BBQ sauce is awesome! The bar staff was very friendly and smiling looking like they are enjoying their work, talked to a few people at the bar and the people were very friendly. I'm all about experience and this was great I look forward to coming back. Great job!

Was not impressed. Glad to see it keep busy though and I've seen it packed during the Series. Food is just so mediocre I don't know if I would ever choose to come back here. Came here at lunch hour on a weekday and it was ridiculously packed with business people from downtown. Like no tables open packed. Our waitress was very nice though. They have some nice ones working here. We sat at a tall table which unfortunately was uncomfortable for a recent surgery-having me. I love the atmosphere and inside of this place. It is legit an old mattress factory. I ordered the Blue Jay Burger (Blue Jay, Creighton, get it?). It was a burger with blue cheese and carmelized onions on it. The burger had no flavor, the blue cheese was good, and the carmelized onions weren't even carmelized. They were kind if liquidy. My mom ordered the flatbread and said it was delicious. My dad had the Maverick Burger (Maverick, UNO, get it?). He said it was OK but didn't have any flavor to the meat, similar to mine. Fries were good but just typical. Overall I like the place and the location, helping to revamp NoDo, but I just don't see how this place survives without the Series. It's obviously popular with businesspeople downtown, though I'm unsure why.

I love this place and always stop in when I am going to the Berkshire Hathaway's shareholder meeting. It is a block from Centurylink Center and has great pub fare and an impressive beer selection. I love the nachos and burgers here. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and fun to talk with over a beverage. 5 stars.

Fun times after my cousin's wedding! Craft beers = me gusta. Friendly bar staff, good at suggesting local brews for non-locals. This is something I really like to see at bars when I travel. I was not working for my cousin's wedding (flew in for this), but it's a big deal when I get to sample lots of beers and someone who knows them to steer me in the right direction for several different brews. I love when I'm traveling for festivals, etc to DJ and I get to experience local tastes and brews.

This place was a good fond, it has a good beer selection but what I really like are the Moscow Mules a nice cool kick on a hot day. We returned for the supper hour to have more mules and try some grindage. We settled for the spinach artichoke dip and the half rack of ribs. The bark on the ribs was very nice but the taste was even better I should have ordered the full rack. I also liked the beans with the sweet taste and the brisket and burger mixed in. I was not a big fan of the cole slaw but all is well with the dinner.

The hamburger I had at an Applebee's in Columbus, NE tasted better. That should tell you enough, but just in case here's my full review. We went in on a Saturday night around 5 because we had a gift card. We knew it would be busy because of the last UNO hockey game, so we were lucky to only wait 4 minutes before a table was available. Service was good, but because they were busy and each server was likely maxed out, I felt "eating fast" was implied. Onward to the food. We started with 8 wings: 4 BBQ and 4 Sweet and Spicy. They were ok and I personally thought they were over sauced (mind you, I'm a sauce person). Side note: If you want great wings, go try the charbuffed wings at Oscar's. Next we ordered 3 burgers, 2 "Omaha" burgers and one with bacon and white cheddar (I forget the name). What a letdown they were. A bit dry, not flavorful, and even the fries tasted bland. We're highly suspect that while they probably use quality meat- Omaha Steak, I believe- they DO NOT season their meat which leaves for a not-so-flavorful burger. Personally, I think any bar that has a sucky burger is a good indicator for the rest of the food. Just my opinion. Probably won't be back, unless we get gifted another gift card ;)

We always make it a point to stop in at The Matt before all the events at the Link, and make it our "headquarters" during the Series. Additionally, we have done a lot of corporate events there, and even attended my high school reunion in the upstairs space which was great space for the event The food and the service have always been great, no problems. Its a pretty unique setup just because they have so many people coming through the doors when there is a event, so it can be hard to find a table sometimes or grab a waitress, but if you want to go to where the people are then you should understand that is part of it. I have been a big fan of this place since it opened, its a really unique place and there is nothing else like it in Omaha - its an Omaha original!

Outstanding service today for our party of 6 over lunch. The food was really tasty and everyone was happy with their meals. The nachos were exceptionally good with the pulled smoked chicken-- nice touch-- and not that garbage tasting grilled chicken chunks a lot of places put on chicken nachos. Parking lot is a bonus. The beer selection looked pretty good as well.

I've been to the Old Mat' a lot. I recently went there for a work function in their reserved section upstairs. The food is always pretty good and it was no different a couple days ago. Nothing is really unique about the bar that makes me go wow. They have a huge selection of beers and liquors and you can always find something to drink. Their drink prices are on par with all of the other bars in the Old Market area, which means they are a tad high but I can't knock them too much for that. Their normal, bar food is okay as I've had inconsistent experiences with it. Some times its pretty good, while other times its just okay. They used to have a 'shuffle board' game, (I think shuffle board), but they took it away, which is a bummer because it was one of the best parts about the place IMO. But all in all, I see myself walking into the Old Mat every few months or so and they don't generally disappoint.

Finally visited here for the first time for a recent work function. Based on what I had heard about the food I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Firehouse Turkey burger which is served with smoked jalapeños and guacamole with a side of sweet potato fries and it was delicious. The burger had just enough kick and the fries were cooked well without being too crispy. To top things off, they serve Blonde Fatale from Peace Tree Brewing Company which is something I miss after moving to Omaha from Des Moines. Overall, definitely a good enough experience to warrant a trip back.

If you are in Omaha for the College WS this place must be packed. This large old factory turned bar shares the parking lot with the new ball park. The parking is free for patrons of this bar. You typical sports bar with large open ceilings, plenty of TV screens and memorabilia everywhere. The food was standard and prepared properly. The service was very nice. We had a great time and will be back on our next trip to Omaha.

If you enjoy ok food served at a ridiculously pace by servers who are unsure of their beer selection, this is the place for you! You might also enjoy their uncomfortable seats and overdone abandoned building setting. If, on the other hand, you have higher standards, go elsewhere.

Just ate "The Upper Deck" sandwich ... Quite possibly the best bbq pork sandwich I've ever had!!! Sliced pork and sausage with BBQ sauce on a toasted bun ... Yummy! Great service too despite the huge lunch crowd. I can't wait to go back! Mmm-mmm good!!!

Poor service, bland food, limited menu, and a run down environment. Stools and tables were unstable and we were told to move without explanation even though it's "seat yourself." It took three tries to get the check right and we still had to settle up with cash at the end. Bottom line, they're the only place in the area and take advantage of that.

Starting with the good: I thought the menu was very good, and everybody in my group of 4 was happy with their food. It is fairly standard bar food, but with some interesting innovations. Great TV in almost every direction and great ambiance. If I was rating the food and drink selection alone, this would easily be a 4 star bar and grill comparing it against local competitors. But the service... The beer menu is unclear. It lists brewery, but not the specific brew available from each of those great breweries. So, I would have to ask which beers are available for each brewery. And of course, our server didn't know, and then we got sort of confused about the beers. Suggestion: Just print a list what beers you have on tap. Our server also brought a beer that our dinner partners did not ask for. New servers happen, bad service happens, that doesn't earn you two stars. I asked to talk to the manager, and frankly, she was aggressive and abrasive. And she practically scolded me when I suggested the beer list be more clear. That will earns a negative rating. This place has a great location, 2 blocks from the baseball stadium and 2 blocks from Century Link. And so I don't think they really have to worry about the malcontents on Yelp, I get that. And they do have good food... So my caution: The Old Mattress Factory Bar and Grill has 3 stars after over 70 reviews for a reason.

I stopped in because the Mattress Factory was close to the hotel I was staying at. It looks like it would be a great place to watch a game on the TV's. The service was quick, I was greeted as I was seated and gave my drink order. The side salad I received was crisp and fresh with balsamic vinaigrette. The wings with hot sauce were grilled as was the burger with mushrooms and Swiss but both were cooked correctly. Overall a nice place to eat.

Great place to catch a Broncos game in Omaha. Food is typical bar food. Decor is brick wall, wood tables, typical college area look. The smoked meat plate was very good. Lots of choices here for beer. Some unique IPA's. The real winner here is the sports atmosphere. Lots of room. Tons of TVs. They are going to have your game here so grab a beer and get comfy.

It was a Friday evening and all we wanted to do was chow down on some burgers. While the burgers were alright, the wait time was beyond! 45 minutes for just 2 burgers and fries. A little ridiculous if you ask me. I'd rather go eat at SmashBurger. #sorrynotsorry 2.5/5

Went here on a Saturday for lunch, they apparently scale down their menu for the rush, okay. Was seated quickly, right away realized I should have went to Block 16 but my daughters demanded the Matt. Plain jane food as I simply had french fries that had way too much salt on them and came with a dipping sauce I couldn't make out as to what it was. My wife ordered a burger, well done, and they cooked the bacon to a crisp, beyond recognition. One daughter had a buffalo chicken salad, with more radishes and celery than chicken. The other had the standard kid's cheese pizza, I think her word's were, "I've had better frozen". The highlight was flagging our waiter down each time we needed a refill and to get our check, which of course was overbilled. Simply it's typical bar food, with nothing that stands out. I've been here 3 or 4 times and each time I wonder why I keep coming back.

The atmosphere is great the waitresses are friendly and competent. The wings are very good. Order them extra crispy with sauce on the side and you won't be disappointed. Fish tacos were good. Not super amazing but for the middle of Nebraska very good. I would come back again just for the wings!

A friend and I were in the area for a concert, and decided to eat here for lunch. The service we had was decent and the food was DELICIOUS. The reuben I ordered was probably the best I've ever had with a delicious pickle spear on the side, and tasty fries. I'd definitely stop in again if I ever found myself in Omaha again.

I've been going to this place for about 3 years and mainly because of its variety of items from pizza, salads, chicken wings, and house smoked meats. Had to write a review today as the menu (at least for lunch) is now a simple one-sheet with a bunch of items off the list, which isn't bad in itself if the owners want a more focused selection and raised prices. Sadly, I am giving them 2 stars mainly because I am disappointing with the care they put into their food. They smoke meats and they are great, but bring out a prepackaged, probably frozen, heinously overcooked burger with a dry bun that never touched the flat top. So much so, it was hard to even cut with a fork. How can you put so much effort into part of a menu then let something like this out of the kitchen? I write this as a request for them not to give up on their food and in hopes they may look at their stuff and realize that right around the corner is The Blatt, who offers amazing food at the same prices ($30 was a lunch for 2 of us). With the volume the Matt does and the cool venue, put some love into that food guys! I hope to be able to write another review soon with higher stars, but for now, I can only offer as much as I got for lunch today.

I was staying over at the Hilton and it was very cold. I was lucky this place was so close and so delicious!

We went here for lunch during a conference and had to leave half of our food because it took so long to get the food. When we came in we were one of the first people in before it got busy and it took 45 minutes to get some burgers and salads. The burgers were ok, not worth the wait.

We live in Omaha and made the mistake of going here for a bite to eat during the College World Series. it was Sunday night...no game night so it wasnt crowded at all. The service was horrible and the food was worse. They offered a limited CWS menu with higher than normal prices which we noticed immediately. It took a while before a server finally came over. We watched 2 of them chatting for 6 minutes before one reluctantly came over. To minimize the pain we ordered chips and salsa and also chips and buffalo dip. We decided to just snack now and have a meal later...back in a,good restaurant in the old market. We got the food quickly. but I use the term 'food' loosely. The salsa was fine. the Buffalo dip was waaaaaay to salty. the chips were absolutely horrible...the cheapest, worst tasting chips I've ever had...even worse than chips you would get a a snack bar somewhere with fake cheese. for what we paid, it was a joke. I'm actually embarrassed that people from out of town who ate there had to experience that. Omaha is better than that! we will NOT be back.

The absolute WORST PLACE TO HAVE A BEER!! If you care about what you are drinking or eating this is not the place for you If you like bud light in a plastic cup then you will fit right in Oh yea and the food was awful don't waste you time or money

Great service. We were with family and had two toddlers in our group. The waitress was super attentive to the kiddos and made sure to supply us with extra napkins for their chocolate dessert. I was super impressed with the Buffalo chicken salad. In fact, now I'm determined to recreate it at home. If I were closer to Omaha you can bet we'd be frequenting Old Mattress Factory more often!

Didn't eat any food, but the sweet potatoes fries looked tasty. Location was great to meet a few friends, before heading over to the arena to watch an UNO hockey game. Saw a lot of families, so I wouldn't want to stay long to party. Ordered a beer first. Fast service. Ordered a Moscow Mule second. And surprisingly, it was awesome! I definitely think I will go back if I want to drink a little bit before heading over to the arena.

I can't believe I just got to Omaha and wasted my first meal on this crap. I blame myself. My friend and I were starving. It was 100+ degrees out. We had just flown in and checked into the Hilton on Cass. We wanted to go some place close by for lunch. Instead of referring to Yelp, I asked the Concierge. Big mistake. I should have known this was going to be bad. I had been out to Omaha a few years back to catch the College World Series. I instantly recognized "The Matt" as the place where I saw not one, but two CWS partiers puking their brains out near the bar. Another terrible reminder was the "Lobster Catch" -- essentially one of those claw-grabbing game machines that kids play in arcades trying to snag stuffed animals and basketballs with -- except this one is filled with live lobsters. Nothing like plunking down $2 a shot to torture a poor lobster by picking it up and dropping it on its head a few times. Good thing lobsters aren't in charge. Seeing the menu was the last sign I needed to know that what was to follow would be spectacularly unmemorable. But it was too hot to abort mission. And 22oz. beers make any bad situation a little bit better. I had the "The Matt" salad or whatever it's called. We're planning to eat and drink a lot on this trip, so I thought I'd try to go healthy. Mixed greens, blue cheese crumbles, almonds, craisins, grilled chicken, some nondescript vinaigrette -- you get the idea. The whole thing was just blah. At least season the grilled chicken a little bit, people. My friend had the beef brisket, which was a little more exciting, but nothing special. The whole experience felt very akin to a meal you might have at the Houlihan's in Penn Station. Needless to say I did not come out to Omaha to eat like I'm living it up at the Houlihan's in Penn Station. Oy. Every now and then I go off the Yelp radar and pay the price. This afternoon is one of those days. If you're into lobster torture and booze, then I can recommend The Matt. But go elsewhere for food.

No crayons for kids, food is good but not memorable. maybe except the BBQ sauce that came with my smoked turkey sandwich. My kids loved their burgers and wolfed them down. it's marked as 4oz but on a huge bun, so good for big kid appetites!

The service here can be a little iffy, but I've loved the food so far. The buffalo chicken pizza is incredible, probably one of my favorite meals in Omaha. Other than convenient location, I can't recommend going here during CWS. They reduce their menu down to a bunch of over priced appetizers. Any other time of year, check it out, get the buffalo chicken pizza.

Good place for Husker football, every time the hustlers score-- free shots at the bar of red headed sluts are passed around. Other than that, basic bar/grill food menu and a decent selection of beers on tap. Service can be shotty when it's packed, but very understandable as when its packed its hard just to walk around. They have some private rooms available and a good sized patio.

well, i have to say that this place really isn't very good. the atmosphere is pretty decent. the building is an old factory/warehouse that was renovated into this establishment. lots of tv's to watch sports. i started off a little irritated because the place was pretty much empty when we arrived there, but the hostess seemed to see it fit to seat us next to a table full of little screaming kids. wtf? there was perhaps 40 other open tables we could have been placed at but instead right next to a toddler and a 4 year old in a bar? jesus! first, in all fairness, i will say i had a ruben that was pretty tasty. there is nothing amazing about it: corned beef, toasted rye, thousand island, cheese, and saur kraut. yippee. i chose it based on other reviews. this is the kind of place where almost everything seems to come out of the freezer. my co worker had the fish and chips. he specifically asked the waitress if it was a large portion and she said it certainly was. it arrived at the table with 3 tiny pieces of fish. he was disappointed. there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about anything on the menu here. very lame worn out choices that every lame "bar and grill" in the entire usa serves. our waitress rachael pretty much sucked. she was a pretty decent looking and seemed to have the attitude that she could get by on her appearance in spite of substandard service. what annoyed me most was that she brought me a second beer that i didn't ask for and then guilted me into drinking it by alluding that she was going to give it to me at a reduced price. of course the bill came and it was listed at 5.75 or whatever the standard rate. she would probably be a good waitress for hooters because that is pretty much the exact interaction i have grown to expect when i am stuck eating at a place like that. we wanted to go to "Blatt Beer and Table" but they were closed today because the sign on the door said they were having a party for their employees. this place was the runner up. unfortunately, in retrospect, i would only suggest this establishment as a last resort. i guess its great if you want to watch a sporting event, eat lame food, experience lame service, and pay for overpriced alcohol.

Ok. Smoked pork was good. Food was good for the most part. Service was good. Horrible chicken tenders!!!! Spongy chopped and formed tender shaped chicken nuggets. Very bland. My kids would not eat them. Total waste of money.

We stopped here before an event at Centurylink Center and it's a fun place to meet a group of people. Seating is serve yourself with some long tables as well as some smaller tables. This is a noisy sports bar and a bit difficult to have a conversation but great to share a sporting event. During events at Centurylink, they have a "limited" menu which means much less choice so be sure to check the website if you have a favorite on the menu and it's event night. Stricter parking rules as well. It is what it is--typical bar food such as nachos and pizzas however I was impressed with the buffalo chicken pizza. A small selection of microbrews on draft and in bottles lets you do a bit of pre game warm up before the less quality food and beers at Centurylink

a coworker told me about this place so i decided to give it a try while in Omaha. the building has been around since the 1800s, lots of brick and wood - not sure when the reno was done but it looks good, has a nice laid back vibe. there are tons of tvs to watch sports which i really like because today is Monday and my team is playing on Monday Night Football! now, for the food. i had a turkey burger (complete with jalapenos and guac -Mmm) and some sweet potato fries, both were decent. they also offer a variety of IPAs. i will definitely return.

Meh... They have turned this place into a really killer venue. Excellent brick/industrial layout and with plenty of TVs (if that is important to you). The tap is ok but only has, currently, two local brews. I ordered the NY strip salad and it was a bit shy on the steak. The real gripe I have though was the staff. I have had friendly service at Denny's. they all seem more engrossed in their phones than even pretending to look busy. Don't get me wrong, my order was served with a smile but I felt like they only wanted to get back to their FB. I guess on Wednesdays they host a cruise night. That's cool.

As a parking lot that happens to have a restaurant attached, it gets 4 stars, but just for the restaurant and food itself I will have to go with 3 stars. The food is decent typical bar food. They had good fries and burgers, OK french dip (fully decent, but nothing to take it to the next level), but pretty mediocre fried fish (way too thick and spongy breading). They also have a pretty good craft bottle list (Zipline, Peace Tree, Blue blood...), not quite as many on draft. Service is slow, but only because the volume of people that were eating here, or waiting to eat was extraordinary. Because of the proximity to the Quest center, if it is before a show or an event, you can expect this place to be packed. Price is just OK for the quality of the food, about $15-$20 per person with drinks. Parking is $5, and the they do give you a $2 voucher toward the Old Mattress Factory restaurant. I will keep parking here before games, but might be skipping the food next time.

I will not give them my money. Thursday night. 10:30pm. 3 of us walked in for 1 round. Wouldn't serve us even though there was 1 table with 6 people that didn't seem like they were going anywhere soon. The place was closing for the night.

Very quick service. The menu was small. Mostly burgers and sandwiches. Not much more. Plenty of wings and beer. Price not bad for a downtown restaurant close to convention center. I'd recommend for a pricey choice close to events. Great place to wine down after a game.

I had an issue with some cold food (which happens sometimes) my waiter offered to replaced it when I brought it up, but then copped a snotty attitude and never checked back to see how the replacement was or to clear the plates.

The managers are extremely rude. When you ask about an issue they won't let you speak and attack you. I will never come back again. Reconsider coming here.

We had a fun sever which made our visit enjoyable. I had the smoked turkey sandwich. It was just sliced turkey on a bun. I could have done that at home. My friends had the buffalo wings. Again nothing different from any other restaurant. Lots of TVs to watch a game though.

    (3)
  • H S.

If they had less than a one star I would do that. The management is unable to answer a simple question on whether our not they can get a reservation made and asks me to call back. Problem is I've called 3 times and talked to someone who says they will call me back and don't. Convenient location which is why we started with them, but food in past is very average and the service and manners are horrible! I'll be giving my $ somewhere else!

We went to THE MATT to watch a football game. It was really cool with the old warehouse look. The beer selection was really good with some nice local brew. We had some food off and on and it was all very good. There service was great as we sat there for a few hours. I would definitely go back when I'm in Omaha.

despite previous one to two star reviews, i enjoyed dining at the matt. i am in omaha this week for a business trip so the matt was walking distance from our hotel. our server, lumpy (you must ask him how he got this name) was fantastic. he was very nice, great customer service and attentive. the selection was the event menu (a shorter menu) due to the car show at the centurian. i had the blonde fatale by peachtree brewery, yummy. we ordered the salsa and chips with guacamole for starters. their pulled pork is homemade there so that's what i selected. it was very good with my sweet potato fries and cole slaw. my dining mates also had the pulled pork and loved it. m.r. got the buffalo chicken flatbread and he really liked it. i would come back again if ever i return to omaha.

Used to be a great place. With a special event in town they have a scales down menu. I have cut fries from my diet and they won't let you substitute a side salad for the fries.

Good atmosphere, had many different ball games on. Was surprised at number of children in the place after 8PM. Buckets of 5 domestics are $15. Had nachos with a bucket while watching baseball. Nachos were fair...pretty bland for nachos; I would not order again. Could be a fun place with a group. Did not eat dinner, but plates coming out looked pretty good.

Been here twice for lunch while on travel to Omaha. It is in a nice old building with nice open dining area. Food here is pretty good, but is lacking some minor touches. Service is kind of slow at times even when it is pretty much empty. I have ordered a burger and a pulled pork sandwich here. The burger was nice and flavorful with decent amount of toppings for it. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good, but needed more BBQ sauce, as they do not give you much, so the sandwich was a little dry. I really like the onion rings here as they have a nice batter to onion ratio and have a nice crunch to them. The onion rings are worth the upgrade from the fries, but he fires are also pretty good here. Both my coworkers that have eaten here with me have enjoyed their meals here. I would say that Old Mattress Factory Bar and Grill is a 3.5 star place as the food is good, but the service is slow. I have heard that on big game nights their menu simplifies as well.

This place was right between my Hotel and the arena where I saw the Bruce Springsteen concert. Had lunch here, then stopped in for a couple of post-show beers. They think a lot of their BBQ. I thought it was serviceable, good, but I guess I didn't think as much of it as they did. Later, the place was lots of fun with friendly, busy workers and thirsty Springsteen fans. This is not a bad review. I am glad the place was where it was. I was glad they served lunch. I'm glad the lunch didn't suck. I'm glad the place played loud Springsteen music and promptly served cold beers late at night. If it is in my way next time I'm walking around Omaha, I wouldn't hesitate to stop.

My son and I were in the area on a Saturday night after watching a movie at the Filmstream. We were both hungry after the movie and had never tried the Old Mattress Factory before so decided to give it a try. Since it was a Saturday night we were amazed to actually get parking and only have a short wait before getting seated. My son had the chicken sandwich and I had a Reuben and chili. The food was much better than we expected and service was good. I'm very rarely in this part of town but would eat here again when in the area.

I'm sorry my company moved its conference because we look forward to eating here. Not sure why I only wait until then. The food is great and the service is greater. Bar tenders know there drinks and beers. The bar tender knew that Chimay was a Belgium Tapiest Beer. I only had just found that out. Can't wait to return.

Attentive staff for a Thursday @ 530. Had the brisket and pulled pork w/o bread. Brisket was hot, tender, and full of flavor. The pulled pork was cold-obviously not freshly pulled. Decent BBQ sauce, great beans, coleslaw needed more 'something'. Oh yeah, flavor. It needed flavor and liquid . Great selection of beers. No special happy hour that would make me want to return.

We had our reception at the Matt & it was great! We served a burger buffet and everyone raved about how good the food was! The venue (upstairs) is beautiful! There is a ton of character facilitated by exposed brick and hardwood floors. So much was included in the venue fee - including linens and cake cutting! Cyndi, while not as responsive as I would have liked (admittedly, I am a bit of a type A planner), executed everything when we needed it & guided us through the beginning of our evening. I am so happy with the experience overall. It was just too wonderful. Thank you!

Ive been to omf 4 or 5 times. Its a nice place but the food is not good.Yesterday we ordered nachos because it thought it would be a safe bet.by far the worst nachos ive ever had.it was like boiled hamburger on chips with some mostly unmelted shreaded cheese.

Sports bar with a lot of tvs and some pretty good food too. The sauce for the quesadillas was excellent with a kick of spice to add to the flavor. Fish and chips were crispy, burgers were tasty and the new york strip was well-cooked and good too (if twice the price of everything else on the menu). Service was very good.

I've been here multiple times and have to say this place is great. This place is nice enough to allow you to ask for a change in the channel (including soccer.) The environment is open and enjoyable. Sometimes you need to wait for your waiter because they are busy, but they are a great place to go before heading to the Clinc, TDI Ameritrade, the Civic or Morrison Stadium Pizza's are great (for one person) and burgers are phenomenal. Also have a great selection of beers (including a good amount from overseas.)

I'll review this a hall and not as a restaurant. My wife and I were married in October and we had our wedding reception at Burke's Hall which is on the second floor of the Old Mattress Factory. The location and look of the place were perfect. The wedding itself was in the Old Market and this was pretty close-by. It has a charm to it with the exposed brick and wood beams. We loved the history behind it. I admit this place isn't a traditional reception hall but it worked beautifully for us. It contained a bar and the liquor selection was extensive especially with a full bar downstairs. Many of our guests complimented the food. We had beef tortellini with alfredo and marinara sauce, salad, garlic bread, and sauteeed zucchini and yellow squash. They were open to making just about anything including items that weren't listed on the menu. The Stabrie Lounge off to the side of the hall has leather chairs, furniture and looks pretty classy. This was a great spot for people that wanted to get away from the dancing and music. The event planner is fantastic! She went out of her way to fulfill our needs. She put away our gifts until we could pick them up the next day. She even decorated the hall during the wedding. It looked fantastic when we finally arrived. Another nice touch was being able to take pictures on the bar in the basement. The price of the hall itself was a great bargain. The price of the food was pretty average when compared to other banquet halls but more expensive than Hy Vee catering. The cost of kegs of beer was a bit on the high end though. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking a venue for your wedding reception. I don't think you'll find a better value.

I'd say the Mat leans more towards the Grill side rather than the Bar. People go here to drink and hang out, sure... but usually in conjunction with some type of event at the Qwest Center. Service in the past has become a recurring joke because we almost always have some kind of mix-up. The first time I apparently 'pointed to' something on the menu - which our server took as me ordering it. So when the other two items showed up (which we verbally ordered), this mysterious Patio Chicken accompanied them. We were understandably confused but the server insisted that I pointed to it on the menu, even though I never uttered the words "Patio Chicken". We didn't complain and took the extras home. Good place for groups due to the super long tables, decent food and lots of beer on tap.

    (3)
  • Ben K.

Pros: Not a bad place to hang out after a night at the Qwest Center Cons: Bad food, bad service, kind of a mishmash of stuff everywhere. The Old Mattress Factory isn't somewhere you're going to go out of your way to eat at. This place has one role and one role only: it's a hang out for people after a Creighton basketball game, a UNO hockey game or a concert at the Qwest. The quality of the service and the food aren't worth a long drive for, but the short stumble out of the arena makes it a decent place to after party until 1AM. I've had a bunch of the meals and none of them have left me satisfied. The drink selection is decent and the atmosphere is hit or miss. After a Qwest event, it can be packed, but if the Qwest doesn't have an event, it's pretty dead. So if you're looking for something to do after a game or a concert at the Qwest, this isn't a bad place to kill some boredom, but again I wouldn't make a trek out for it.

Was here for lunch on a Monday, probably a little after the any rush they may have had. So it wasn't super busy. I was by myself and the hostess asked me immediately of my preference of a table or the bar. I chose the bar. I was given a menu immediately by the bartender Lyndsay, and then asked for a drink order. I was given ample amount of time to choose my selection (she was watching for me to put down the menu). I asked her opinion between two options and she gave me a definitive opinion, which allowed me not have to hesitate or read her mind as to what she really meant. I ordered the philly steak and asked for them to hold the peppers and onions-which she gladly put in. The sandwich was out in an a very acceptable time-frame and was hot and fresh. I abhor seasoned fries-but whatever was coating these fries just made them more crispy and really didn't affect the taste of the actual potato. I would rather the coating be left off all together, but I happily ate these up. At first I thought the sliced prime rib was a bit too seasoned....but when eaten with the juicy mushrooms that filled most of the sandwich and the provolone cheese everything tasted just fine. I am sure that the seasoning is meant to go with the onions and peppers, and it works in harmony with the mushrooms as well. Overall a very satisfying lunch. The room is a big open room with an all brick interior. One of my pet peeves is when people junk a room with every knick-knack, poster, and race car hood they can. OMF was not done like this (though there is plenty of room to do it-and I am sure someone was tempted to do it). Just some sports team flags here and there. I like the minimal look. I don't mind a cluttered feel to a place if it was built up over thirty years-but the whole "junk it up at opening" just bugs me. So nice use of restraint here. There is a game room with a shuffle board table and a couple of bigger games-it is not obnoxious-and again done with restraint despite the room to do more. The bartender was polite and cheerful, gave me a good recommendation on food, made my drink perfectly, didn't give me the (oh he's not going to tip-look) when running a gift card, and was attentive the entire time I was there, but not overbearing at all. The manager gave a quick stop by to ask how the sandwich was and accepted a head nod and moved on and didn't push for more-which I am also a fan of.

Eh, go back to mattresses - food isn't your forte. Honestly though, it was all edible, but it wasn't anything super special. Service was fine and attentive as others have commented. I...don't know what else to say. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. There's plenty of microwaveable food available that looks and tastes just the same.

Had the "margarita" pizza which was cheese pizza with basil on top. My date had a burger and said it was pre-made, very dry and gross. However, our friends had wings and said they were very good. I give Mattress 3 out of 5 stars because while service was great and atmosphere was fun, some of the dishes were not up to par.
