I LOVE Salt!!! I think I've eaten here three times and we get take out sometimes too! I'm vegetarian and the buffalo mozzarella ravioli is to die for! My mom isn't and she loved it as well as the sausage/links appetizer. We also loved the appetizer with the melted cheese and bread. Last time I went here with a friend, we ordered the bread platter, and it was great! She ordered the Jo Geez (goat cheese) pizza, which was amazing! I love the food here, and the staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. And the complimentary cotton candy at the end of meals is a great bonus! I would definitely stop by more often if I had more money... I'm moving this fall, and Salt will be missed!

For the most part, this place is amazing. the service was amazing. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and also fun to talk to. The food was a hit and miss. We started with the goat cheese ragoons which were the best ragoons I have ever had!! The tomato-basil bisque was also the best I ever had!! For the main course I had the sirloin pusanesca ( I'm pretty sure I spelled that wrong). And it was delicious!! The steak was cooked accurately and the sauce and mash was great!! My date had the pear and goat cheese pizza, which was something that I didn't enjoy very much, mainly because it was on the sweet side ( taste like a waffle with maple syrup). The toffee encrusted cheesecake was difficult to eat. There was hardly any cheesecake in it and the toffee crumble was WAY too sweet. the drinks here were amazing. I had the jimmy Hendricks ad the Lucky Bucket Belly Flop. I recommend both All in all, I would definitely come here again!!

Went over my lunch hour and it was my first visit to Salt 88. Where it wasn't super busy inside for dining, I did notice that there were quite a few people seated at the back patio, and what seemed to be only one server for all the diners. The hostess had to help bring out food and help take orders, and the bus staff also brought out food- after 2 tries, they finally got our salads right. The food all came out at different times, and although my Istra sandwich was good, it was cold and had been sitting in the oil from my fries (making the bottom of my bun soggy). An hour lunch turned into almost 2 hours- granted, we probably took too much time to decide what to have as all but one of our group were first-timers, but then it seemed like they forgot we were there. A plus is that I have food allergies and it is clearly marked on the menu that they'd appreciate knowing so that they can accommodate if you any issues (although it may result in an extra charge, which I can understand but is discouraging). A suggestion would be that if the servers are going to offer cotton candy, that there be some form of wrapping on the stick- looked like duster and seemed unsanitary to be waving it around offering it to diners.

I feel like I hand out 5 stars too much but if there's no reason to dock em then I won't. Salt 88 was wonderful. A great balance between modern chic and comfort. The decor is beautiful. We had a greaaaat server. It was a lil higher priced than I was expecting but I think you get your money's worth; the food was spectacular. I recommend the goat cheese crab rangoon (a lil rich, but amazing). And I'm obsessed with the buffalo mozzarella ravioli!! Some of the best pasta I've had in awhile. It was a great place for restaurant week. And decent food and drink happy hour, FYI.

Hits and misses overall. My wife and I decided to try this place out as we are fans of Hiro 88. The interior is nice and open, but a bit loud, but not a big deal. We started with a couple appetizers, my wife the Mussels, and myself the Goat Cheese Rangoon. Both were very good, and probably the highlight of the meal. The Mussels were small, but still flavorful, and a large portion. The Goat Cheese Rangoon were very rich and hit the spot for me. So far, so good. The first miss was that my soup and my wife's salad both came before we were even half way done with our appetizers (and I'm not one to eat slow). Both were okay, but staggering courses should be the norm. For the main course I got the Sirloin, and my wife a Salmon course. My steak was cooked to order, and was okay, I have had better and worse elsewhere. My wife's Salmon looked to be prepared well, however after a few bites she wondered why she was having a hard time cutting through it all the way. The bottom was completely overlooked as it was basically burned and should have not have been served. She was already many bites in, so she simply picked off the top. As is standard here, there was the complimentary cotton candy to top the night off. All in all, it was great to try somewhere new, but I am not sure that this will enter the rotation with a couple misses that we experienced.

Had a great time! Food was great! Chipotle ranch on salad was great! Diablo pizza was fantastic! Service wasn't what I had hoped for with everything else going for it....

Salt 88 is decorated beautifully with modern clean lines, posh art, high ceilings, and crisp white walls. I felt like I was under the sea. The service was top notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The lunch menu prices were beyond reasonable. Perfect portions for the price. I ordered the veggie burger without the bun (they did not have a gluten free option) and a side salad with the wait for it.....Carrot Ginger Dressing! It was exceptional. I never ate a salad so fast. I like that the restaurant is a local establishment. Overall it was a great experience. Glad I found it during my visit in Omaha.

Good food but the menu leaves more to be desired - especially for the prices you pay.

The food at Salt 88 is really really amazing, we had Parmesan edamame and some tuna sashimi and it was incredibly wonderful. And the service was just as good as the food, I want to say that Louis did a wonderful job at taking care of our table, he's a very polite young man, and extremely patient. 6 of us were celebrating our friends birthday and I've been here before when the restaurant first opened, service not so well, but it seems like it's getting a lot better. (Thumbs Up Salt)

I absolutely love Salt! Fell in love with the fish tacos on my first visit. They keep me coming back for happy hour...as well as other menu items. Hand crafted drinks are great too!

I have only been to Salt for happy hour (all day on Sunday!) and for drinks. While I really enjoyed their happy hour specials, I was not impressed enough by their dinner menu (or the prices) to try a full meal here. They also have fantastic drinks! I have tried their swai tacos (excellent), Tuscan Frites (good), and their calamari (very good). I have tried several of their drinks including the Make it Rain, Eagle Rum, and the Jimmy Hendricks and all of them were delicious. They use really interesting and fresh ingredients and you can really tell in the flavor of the drinks. Of course they also have their signature cotton candy which is a super fun option. The menu is eclectic and unique. They have a really interesting menu that is sort of a collection of Asian/Southwest/American options. It is a great option for happy hour and maybe one of these days I will pull the trigger and go here for a full meal.

Nice happy hour, really good beer selection for a happy hour. We ordered several different appetizers along with a flat bread pizza. Everything was good. It was a busy Friday evening but the wait staff was prepared. Food came out quickly and was freshly prepared. We finished up with toffee cheesecake which was tasty but a little overpriced for the size of it. We will be back soon.

This was my first experience eating at Salt. I came here for lunch, although my dining companions strongly recommended Salt for their reverse happy hour. They do have a lunch menu, and I ordered the meatball sandwich with salad. The high point was the flavorful meatballs, which were delicious dipped in the side of marinara. It had small pieces of tomato and was light and flavored with olive oil. The sandwich was served On toasted bread, which was toasted to perfection and stood up to the saucy meatballs without making a mess! The low point was the side salad. There was not enough dressing, and I expected more vegetables other than lettuce for a $10 lunch. I suggest ordering the soup instead of salad. The decor on the inside is beautiful, and I look forward to returning for happy hour.

Very poor food. Maybe we went there at a bad time, 2pm but we tried the calamari which was very good but then we tried the sashimi and crab cakes which was very fishy and was not fresh. My stomach is a knot right now due to it. Seems to be a cocktail bar trying to serve high end food which isnt working for them. I should have known better going somewhere advertising fresh ocean fish in nebraska. Never again!

I went to Salt 88 with a large group of friends (10 total) - we started at the bar - I had the Raspberry Mojito - it was amazing! The drink was fairly pricey, but that was sort of expected - especially with how good it was!! You MUST try it! I loved the atmosphere - trendy, contemporary, foodie, but not stuffy or stuck-up at all! We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was very busy! Our large group gathered on one side of the bar - there were only two bar seats available, so we felt a little in the way. There isn't much of a waiting room - so we sort of felt like we weren't sure where to stand to make sure we were out of the way -- this is the only bad thing about the place/experience. I ordered the Penne Asparago (penne noodles, asparagus, mushrooms, chicken in a white sauce) - it was good - I would like it to have a little more flavor - and will likely order something else the next time we're there. My husband ordered a dish that was originally a shrimp pasta, but not being a fan of seafood, he asked if they would swap out the shrimp for chicken and they were more than happy to do that! He said that his dish was amazing!! (I didn't even get to try it!!!) :) We also ordered the Goat Cheese Pizza - it's probably called something more creative than that -- but that's what I can remember :) -- it was fabulous! I was a little nervous that it would be too goat-cheesey, but it was not. The crust was fabulous - nice and thin - hand-tossed, delicious! There were ten of us, and everyone left happy! Definitely suggest this - we are planning another visit soon! My husband was ready to go back the next evening!

Everything was spot on! I have yet to find a darn thing I don't love about Salt 88!!!!! Check out their patio that overlooks the golf course...zen and beautiful. Pizza to pasta, it has become a personal favorite. Wait staff are informed and gracious, too.

Salt is a well rounded restaurant. The interior is beautiful. The food is fantastic. There is a great variety of appetizers to choose from. Some of my favorites have been the other calamari, goat cheese rangoons, and Yukon frites! The salmon plank entree is absolutely amazing served with grilled veggies. They now have pizza specials of the week which have been very good. I have tried the peanut butter chicken pizza (which I substituted for shrimp) and it was amazing. The pizzas is a thin crust and the pizza specials are also served with soup and salad! The BLT pizza special was delicious as well, it included crispy bacon and it was topped with fresh tomatoes and tossed lettuce. Yum. Salt is definitely my new favorite restaurant, I can't get enough of it. The service is great! All day happy hour on Sundays which is perfect because you get to try many options for a fraction of the price! The make it rain has won my heart and there are a ton of wines by the glass. Love it! Everyone get in there!

From the Scottish Plank Salmon and the tomato basil sauce on top to the Chicken Cesar Pizza (not available all the time and not to be missed) to the Make it Rain Drink in the mason jar :) Salt is doing it right! Owners John and Jen always make it around to tables and you feel right at home. So many fun and delicious options on this menu and don't forget to end with the giant piece of warm chocolate cake!!! I had some cinnamon vanilla gelato that went perfectly with the cake! A regular i will be! Thanks Salt

The manhattan strip steak is where it's at!! Its topped with a delicious Marsala mushroom sauce and comes with the most delicious wasabi Gouda mashed potatoes. If you haven't been to Salt yet you are truly missing out on great food, service and atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

Went to Salt for the first time last night. We had a party of 4 and made reservations a week in advance. The atmosphere is pretty loud but it is an eclectic group of people. Everyone raves about the avocado egg rolls but we thought they were just so so. Split the Zagreb pizza- a little salty but fresh. The cheeses were great. We'll be back to try their pasta dishes.

As I work at Hiro right down the block you would think that I would be super bias towards this establishment, however there ARE things on the menu that are a little blah! However, the things that are not blah are out of this world good. First, the service is impeccable, and the owner is a pimp. I've had many things at this restaurant over the last year or so and here are just a few worth mentioning. The sweet and spicy pizza is amazing. The goat cheese Rangoon are ridiculous. The Zagreb pizza with the salmon is great, the rosemary fries, and the fish tacos are awesome and last but not least, the mussels are near perfect every time I get them. And that is just a couple of things I always get. So you can imagine that this menu is fairly extensive and a good mix of American inspired Italian dishes are still to be had by this guy. You guys should definitely get the coke freestyle machine back. Grape Fanta? Forget about it! All the servers are cool and know what they are doing. The decor is awesome as well. I always feel like I'm in cloud city from Star Wars when I'm in there. You guys should definitely get a life size statue of Darth Vader, but I digress! Anyways, Salt is worth the time and Money. Especially on Thursdays from 10pm to 1am. Check em out. It's worth it.

Gorgeous night for the patio! The restaurant was packed when we arrived, and the patio was completely empty! What? It was an incredible night. waitress Sharon came out to assist quickly, and gave us an incredible wine list! I asked for her recommendation (already having in my head a little of which one I wanted), Well, she ended up suggesting the exact glass i was thinking about :) Yumm, 2 please! A somewhat buttery colored Sav Blanc. BF had a Chardonney, which he loved too. Started off with the salt n pepper calamari, and in our quest to find the perfect calamari, well, we are still looking. It was good, and not rubbery, and we pretty much ate all of it, but I thought the marinara was not anything to write home about. There were plenty of other appetizers to choose from, and i will try them! I ordered the miso salmon, (she asked me how i wanted my salmon cooked - wow! no one ever asks that!) But it was cooked exactly how I asked. It sat on a bed of creamy risotto (cheers to NOT being too salty, which alot of Risotto is) and surrounded by perfectly cooked brussel sprouts. BF got the trout, which was delicious! Panko crusted, and cooked perfectly. he wasnt a fan of the grilled vegetables, thought they tasted too "charred". I thought it would have been nice with a side of a cold coleslaw-salad-caribbean something. We decided against dessert, but Sharon did an amazing job of describing them! i heard chocolate, chocolate, mousse, tort, chocolate, red velvet- i am sure she said other things, but my mind doesnt go too far after the word chocolate. She was handing out sticks of cotton candy, which the BF almost squeeled with delight-ha- the guy loves cotton candy! I ran into a friend there, who happened to be the designer on the project- and I couldnt help but to check the bathroom out - why, b/c good restaurant bathrooms rock. I fell in love with tile last night- very cool katrina! The place is super modern, without being too chic. the patio has so many of my favorite things-view, shaded and unshaded seating, awesome outdoor chairs, hanging lights. The only thing I would remove is the giant TV's at the bar- why cant we talk to people at bars instead of watching TV.:) Happy Hour items look great and lasts til 6:30! A return visit for sure will be in order! Already told about 6 people about the place!

We had a great first experience with Salt. We dined out back, which has excellent views of the golf course and, unfortunately, back parking lot as well. Our server was great, very helpful with the menu. The server at the next table was clearly looking to get some cougar tail from a customer and didn't mind everyone knowing it. Our food was excellent. I had the chicken breast which was moist, filling, and most delicious. She had a salad, which was also generously portioned and satisfying. I shall return as the appetizers, both happy hour and regular, looked quite appetizing, as appetizers should.

I went here on a date with a guy I was hoping to call my boyfriend. We had the goat cheese rangoons and the ciabatta they were so good and good priced appetizers. Then we had the ravioli and penne. The ravioli was served with a white wine cream sauce that was rich and creamy and flavorful. The penne was good the chicken and vegetables were good but the sauce was a little bland for my friend and mines liking. All of the service was great and friendly. Our serve, a guy by the name of Leslie, was nice kinda quiet and awkward but still friendly. Was given free cotton candy at the end and it was delicious.

Great patio!! Being fairly new to Omaha, we are always on the lookout for a great patio. They made very good use of the space overlooking the golf course. The a dinner for two with an appetizer, two rounds of drinks and two entrees, plus tip came to around $100. Our service was excellent from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out. The patio was a little bit loud when it was full, so some type of acoustic improvements could add value. Other than that, we had delicious food, great drinks, and great service. Worth a little bit of a drive from a midtown home.

We came to Salt 88 after golf on a Sunday afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised to find the "Sunday Funday" happy hour. I ordered a Make It Rain cocktail and it was delicious and refreshing! The other four people in my party were also pleased with their cocktails. We ordered several appetizers from the happy hour menu and a couple off of the regular menu. The calamari, crab cakes and the "potstickers" (I cannot remember what they're called) were probably my favorites. Our server was awesome. She was knowledgable, friendly and put up with our sense of humor and questions very well. It's great to have a NICE place to go even though we were casual after having golfed. Thank you Salt 88. We will definitely return!

my new fav...i've been a fan of hiro for years and have been waiting for this new spot to open! a group of friends & i tried a smattering of food. from ravioli to salmon pizza: all was fabulous. might i add- you have to try the wasabi gouda mashed potatoes. you'll regret it if you don't! happy hour all day on sunday makes it great to try new things! goat cheese rangoons are magical like unicorns made them...but chef john did...but he admits that they taste like unicorns did indeed make them...is there a unicorn in the kitchen? :) love the vibe. gorgeous modern decore. amazing chef (john)! ok one more tip: ginger drop (with candied ginger!) and make it rain cocktails are super fabulous. kudos to an awesome new favorite to visit often.

Preliminary review, since Salt has been open only since Monday. Let me preface my remarks by stating that my wife and I are passionate and long time fans of both Hiros and Pana 88. But this was a disappointment. Our server was wonderful and very helpful. But things took a wrong turn when our tuna appetizer was delivered to a neighboring table. We eventually (20 minutes after) got it, and it was OK. Just OK. The trout was recommended. Again, just OK, but the accompanying veggies were tasteless. My wife's spicy chicken noodle soup was too salty to eat, and the less said about the Swai fish tacos, the better. My cocktail was also bad, and it is hard to screw up a bourbon on the rocks. To their credit, the space is simple and lovely. And the wine list is excellent (any list with Pinot noirs from both Domaine Drouhin and Domaine Serene earns bonus points from me). Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes, maybe they need to settle in. Given the pedigree of their other restaurants, we will be back. But wary.

good foodie food for Omaha! great menu selection with little twists on the fare - not nearly as Asian and fusion-inspired as it sounds, but still a cut above most other restaurants. Had the Spicy Fish lo mein, which was very tasty and hearty - plenty of noodles and seafood mix, but sadly a little low on the actual amount of spicy fish. Boyfriend had the Diablo pizza which was a good serving size and very tasty. Well done pizza in a brick-oven prep. We also enjoyed the swai tacos with cornmeal batter (which made the flour tortilla more understandable) and the warm mozzarella was good, but didn't have the fresh meaty texture of mozzarella we were hoping for. go on a weeknight when there's no wait. service was excellent!

First visit to Salt 88 and won't be the last. Atmosphere was warm and modern which matched the food and service. We started with happy hour drinks and appetizers. Wine on happy hour menu is not worth it but appetizers definitely. The mussels and calamari are some of the best I've had and the main entrees are great. Ended the meal with a cotton candy treat! What a fun idea. And lastly the chef came out with cups of soup to go as a thank you for coming! They're definitely on the right track.

I've had excellent service every time I've dined here. Also, the back patio is one of my favorites in Omaha. I am a person who likes to tweak menu items to my liking, and they have never had a problem accommodating my wishes. I generally don't make it to dessert, but the gelato is fantastic, and the creme brule as well. The cotton candy finale is always fun. My only desire would be to bring back the all day happy hour on Sundays for those of us that love to Sunday Funday it up.

Ate at Salt 88 for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The goat cheese rangoon are a must order! The pizza was awesome! The staff were friendly and very quick with refills and asking if we needed anything.

The best place in West Omaha hands down! Great atmosphere and outstanding food. The Scottish Plank Salmon accompanied by one of their many bottles of diverse wine makes for the perfect night out! They can get very busy so make sure to schedule a reservation.

Food was OK. I expected better for the cost. Most places give you way too many fries but here you don't get much. Where's the happy medium? Not a kid friendly restaurant. There wasn't a kids menu. At the end they presented us with cotton candy. They should have asked first before showing my 2 & 3 year olds. I thought it was weird anyway. It's a "fancy" restaurant but they were trying to serve us circus food. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who doesn't have money to waste. Omaha has way better options for restaurants. Staff was nice however.

Very nice dinner. Outstanding service. I had the Miso soaked salmon & risotto. The salmon was just right. My wife had the shrimp salad that was tasty. I highly recommend.

A group of 5 of us decided to try SALT88 over the weekend. We love HIRO and since this was the brainchild of the same owners we were excited to experience their take on "New American" cuisine. We had reservations for 7:30 Saturday night but the place was extremely busy so our table wasn't ready. We politely waited along with a few other parties in the lobby but time was slowly ticking by. In an attempt to ease our frustration a server brought everyone waiting a slice of pizza. What a tasty peace offering to calm our anxiety. It was a brilliant idea and instantly turned our first impression from drab to fab in a matter of minutes. Once we were seated our experience continued to be impressive despite how loud the restaurant was. (NOTE: If you are going with a group be prepared to shout across the table especially if it is busy.) The service and the attentiveness of our waiter were incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu offering his suggestions and personal favorites. We started with the salt and pepper calamari, which was to-die-for, and the bread service. Both of which we really enjoyed. The calamari was some of the best calamari we ever had with its light coating and fresh flavor. The bread service came with four unique bread's served warm with a few dipping accompaniments. My only complaint was the rolls were a little small and hard to share with 5 people. It would have been nice to know what this appetizer entailed before ordering it since the menu only said "bread service." Nevertheless both were devoured with glee. On to dinner, everyone in my party enjoyed their meals tremendously. The Penne Asparago pasta had a light cream sauce infused with garlic, served with a generous portion of chicken, mushrooms and chopped asparagus. The Swai tacos came fried but the batter was light allowing the fish to shine and not feel heavy and greasy. The chicken entrée was fantastic and offered the best "bang-for-your-buck."!! The large portion of chicken was cooked perfectly with a seasoned grilled flavor. The sides of grilled veggies and mashed potatoes completed the meal nicely. I had the salt and pepper shrimp salad and I agree with the above reviewer. The salad was lacking especially with the price tag. The shrimp were tiny, the salad small and the "toppings" were few and far between. Don't get me wrong it tasted fine but I was expecting more especially after seeing the other dishes. The other small qualm we had was with the Plank-Fried Salmon my husband ordered. Yes the flavor was wonderful and we loved that it was not farm raised salmon but it was served with a small side of veggies. Again for the price, he was expecting a bigger piece of fish, more veggies and/or some sort of starch. Yes there were a few hiccups with the food but overall we really enjoyed our experience; we will definitely be going back. Well done 88 Restaurant Group for adding another successful restaurant to your portfolio.

When entering this restaurant I was immediately thrown off. It was as if you were walking in to a hotel lobby. Our server, Jacob, was very helpful with the selection of wine and the dinner menu. We started off with the goat cheese rangoon, which was good but nothing special. We then ordered our salads which was simple greens with carrot ginger dressing. The greens were excellent but the dressing was very grainy and made it unpleasant to eat. Next we got our entrees. I got the veal chop and my girlfriend got chicken terra. The chicken and veal were tender and seasoned great. The mash potatoes were also great. However, her spinach was undercooked and tasteless and my mushrooms were so raw and unseasoned I couldn't eat them. Overall Salt is ok, I would maybe try it again for the pizzas. Also, they hand out cotton candy after dinner, didn't understand that at all.

Any restaurant that serves cotton candy gets an A+ in my book! Not only that but the happy hour at Salt is amazing! We chose to sit out on the patio because the weather was beautiful. I ordered the goat cheese crab rangoon as an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious! It was like a regular crab rangoon but filled with a flavorful cheese and dipped in marinara sauce. We polished off the entire order in seconds. For my entree I ordered the house salad and the swai tacos. The tacos were amazing. The fish was coated in a light and crispy batter and the slaw underneath the fish was crispy and flavorful but the sauce for the taco definitely stole the show. The cocktails pair perfectly with their menu as well. To finish it off they bring a puff of cotton candy to the table with your check. Our flavor was banana and it was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. I cannot wait to give Salt another try!

We've been talking about going here since it opened, and I finally went there last week. A friend and I were headed to grab a bite and neither of us had tried Salt yet, but being fans of Hiro, we decided to give it a shot. We didn't know it was happy hour, so we were pleasantly surprised when our server told us. They had some really good drink and food specials for their happy hour. I was surprised to see that the happy hour menu was actually pretty big, not just a handful of items. I ended up getting some goat cheese rangoons and a burger (which I think was only $6). The rangoons were really great. They serve them with a side of a marinara type sauce, which is weird and not really fitting, but they were great without the sauce. The burger was pretty good, too... not the best around, but still really good. It came on a pretzel bun and I took the fried egg on top, also. I'll definitely be back for their happy hour. They had a lot of of other great stuff on the normal menu, too, but the value of the happy hour was excellent.

I've been here for lunch twice and both times have been quite enjoyable. Would like to go back and enjoy their patio sometime. This last time I got the burger with rosemary frites which definitely stole the show. As you are wrapping up, you get a little stick of cotton candy as a pallet cleanser. We were in a large work group, so sharing cotton candy was a little awkward. It might be better to read the group dynamics and not have coworkers share, but that is just me. Although it may seem odd, the cotton candy does do its job and is a fun little quirk to add some flare to this west Omaha restaurant.

  • James E.

Probably the best food and service I have had in Omaha. The burger was fantastic, original and full of flavor. And the chicken was moist, tangy, and just delicious. Also they had amazing fries, and mashed potatoes. We stopped in for lunch on a nice day, took advantage of the golf course view patio and enjoyed our time. The cotton candy was also a tasty throwback to youth.

We went there for their happy hour, which I will say is probably the way to go if you want to get the best bang for your buck. The selection of their happy hour is more than enough for anyone. They have a ton of appetizers, drinks (lots of happy hour wine!), and entrees. We decided to try as much as we could while we were there. Here's my breakdown: Goat Cheese Crab Rangoon - These guys were basically a traditional crab rangoon meets a mozzarella stick, but they were delicious. It was a perfect combination, and the marinara was to great. Swai taco (fish taco) - This was my favorite part of the meal, hands down one of the best, if not the best fish taco I've had. The fish is lightly fried to perfection, and the sauce they use instead of tartar sauce, is amazing. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Sweet & Spicy Pizza - Brick oven and delicious. The sausage used was fantastic, and it worked very well with the red peppers and sweet sauce (a sweet chili sauce). The one thing I wish I would have tried is one of their hand crafted cocktails on their happy hour menu. From what I saw, they looked pretty good. Over all everything was extremely flavorful, and the atmosphere was great. The server was very nice, and had some great recommendations. To top it off, instead of bringing out a mint at the end of dinner they brought out caramel apple cotton candy, which was very nice touch. I'd easily recommend this to anyone.

First impression: loud. Second impression: our reservation was canceled when it was supposed to be changed from 5 people to 7. How does that happen?? I'm not sure, but the lead guy john was very friendly and accommodating while there was a mix up with our reservation. We were soon seated outside which was really nice. It wasn't as loud as it was outside and we had a great waitress in brinn (?). She was personable, helpful, funny, and knows exactly what she's doing. My whole party enjoyed the atmosphere outside and the presentation of everything was gorgeous. yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… The entrees come with a soup or a salad. I tried the Asian Chicken soup. Our waitress said she liked it and that it was really good, so we went for it. yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… Being Asian, it was hard to say what was...Asian about it. It had a kick to it, and it was pretty good, but just not sure what the Asian part of it was. My plate was the Maitake Pasta with mushrooms, some kind of bean, and snowpeas. yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… The pasta was ok...to me, there was no wow factor. I thought the texture of the beans didn't mesh well with the taste of the rest of the pasta. The mushrooms and snowpeas were fine, but the beans are what really threw me. On the other hand, I enjoyed my alcoholic beverage very much. yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… It was both cute, strong, and sweet all at the same time. The mixologist did well with this baby. Here are a couple of pics of the other dishes from my group. My boyfriend's pasta. yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… I tried a bite of his and it was yummy!! Perhaps I should have ordered this dish =) And look at how beautiful this lamb is? I am definitely ordering this next time, I heard that it was superb! yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… And here are pics of the menu. 1st page: yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… 2nd page: yelp.com/biz_photos/salt… And the night wrapped up with some yummy blue cotton candy for the ladies! A cute and friendly touch to a great dinner :) Though I didn't really enjoy my plate, I'm eager to try something else from their elegant menu, and perhaps have the same awesome waitress too!

Salt is another great addition to Omaha. my recommendation when dining at salt is to get one of their pizzas. My husband and I have discovered that the pizza appears to be their real strength. The sweet and spicy as well as Diablo are both delicious. When ordering off the rest of the menu we feel some of the items are a little more hit and miss, but the pizza is always outstanding. Also, we love the avocado egg rolls. These are different than the avocado egg rolls you can get at Hiro so be sure to check them out. The make it rain is also an excellent cocktail and goes down easily. Salt has a great modern/trendy vibe and they finish each meal with cotton candy which is a nice touch. We have also experienced excellent service here on multiple occasions.

I've been to Salt three times now, for lunch, dinner and a catered group event. The second two times we dined on the patio... which, though much lauded, is still just facing a parking lot. Yes there's a golf course behind the parking lot, but it's easy to forget that once you see someone dragging a trash can to the dumpster. So my recommendation would be to dine indoors, and enjoy the decor instead. For lunch, I had the Chicken Terra, which was a great light lunch. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the mash & greens were a nice accompaniment. The mash could've had a little more wasabi for my taste, but overall nice. This was probably the most satisfying meal I had overall. My second visit was for dinner. Starter was mussels, over a quarter of which were unopened and therefore not eaten. A little disappointing... flavor-wise they were pretty middle of the road. For my entree I had the cedar plank salmon. The fish was delicious, but the accompanying veg was a little plain. I know they're just vegetables, but I was hoping for some more magic there. Even a little more grill time would have enhanced the flavor. My third visit was for HH. I will say the avocado egg rolls are almost to die for, and worth another trip alone. Specialty drinks and good selection of wine and beer are also high points for Salt. The swai (fish) tacos were a bummer though. Definitely some high points here, but overall I'm not feeling the magnetic pull required for bumping Salt up to a 4-star. But it definitely seems to be a hit so far, make sure to call ahead for reservations at peak times.

Went here lastnight and WOW. Where do I start. The moment you walk in the door you know you are in store for a great experience. The waitress was everything you could ever want. Checking on everything periodically. Very kind and had a lot of knowledge. The dinner was beyond my expectations i had the scottish salmon and it was my first time ever tying salmon. I was taken back. My girlfriend got the puttenesca steak and i had the majority of it LOL it was literally thr best thing i have ever had in my mouth. 5 stars. Cotton candy at thend of every meal like WHAT!

Had heard good things about the food and wasn't disappointed. Fried Ciabatta bread with a nice Pomidoro dipping sauce. Avocado, bacon and jalapeño egg-roles and Diablo shrimp pizza. Service was good, even though I felt the server may have been mildly impatient with us, (first timers), she did her best not to show it. Going five stars because I was more than happy with all the food. Will return for sure.

I had the pesce arribiata and substituted chicken instead of shrimp. AMAZING! It reminded me of the dish that John Favreau cooks for Scarlett Johansson on the movie Chef.

Last night was our first experience at this new restaurant. I would have to say the service was two stars and the food was three stars. We started with appetizers off the happy hour menu. The links & sauce was good, the goat cheese rangoons were good, the italian fries were ok but odd as they were really just fry shaped croutons and marinara & the goat cheese gratin was sad - a bowl of marinara with three small pieces of goat cheese on top. For entrees we ordered the bone in new york strip, the pasta maitake, penne asparago & pasta amatriciana. The steak was the biggest disappointment - tons of fat, chewy and undercooked although the risotto that accompanied it was very good. The first two pasta dishes were good. Mine was the maitake and it was pretty good except I asked for parmesan cheese and I was brought six shavings smaller than a postage stamp. The amatriciana was the least successful and disappointing. The service was bizarre/annoying. Our waitress was around WAY to much and had to announce every single thing she was doing. After our meal the manager came by and lingered way to long until we finally starting telling him the shortcomings of the meal - then he took off. If you don't want the truth don't ask. The meal was actually decent but not worth a trip back.

A group of us made our first visit to Salt 88 on a Wed evening for happy hour. It was incredibly busy but our waiter was amazing and took good care of us. I always appreciate wait staff who make it a point to come back right before happy hour ends! Between the four of us we split a couple orders of goat cheese rangoon, pot stickers, a couple orders of calamari, edamame, sashimi and a piece of the the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake is huge so be prepared to share. A couple of us had a Water Hazard (it was amazing) and I sampled a friends Make it Rain (on my list for next visit). A couple girls had wine. Overall, we were happy with the service, the prices and quality of food. I can't wait to return!

Ate a Salt again today. Had their calamari and buddy had crab cake sandwich. I thought it was pretty good but spent the better part of the afternoon puking out my backside. Do not know if it was food related. The back deck has about as much ambiance as the inside of a dumpster of a chinese restaraunt. The inside is super cool but the wierd waiter comes over to grown adults and hands me cotton candy. I replied no thank you I am almost 40 and I just had a pixie stick and it is almost nappy time. I like the menu's colors.

Went here for an anniversary dinner. Made reservations ahead of time, so we were seated in the dining room immediately upon arrival. The ambiance is nice, but this place is very loud at full capacity. Some additional sound dampening on the walls and ceiling may help a bit with the acoustics, but the food is what's more important. Ordered an import beer and glass of house white wine. Also ordered the yukon gold frites. The frites were firm, salted just right, and tasted very good, and the aioli was fantastic. DW ordered the pesce arrabiata and I the steak Dubrovnik. Everything was fantastic! The shrimp on DW's entree were nice and fresh, and my steak was cooked to perfection. The asparagus that came with my steak was some of the best asparagus I've had in some time. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Prices? Not bad for what you get.

I tried Salt for the first time at happy hour. I was with a fairly large group of people, I think there ended up being 15 or so of us. They sat us in a back room, which was good because we might have been the reason for noise complaints that evening. There were some boisterous people in our group. The table was set up already when I got there with the menus out & water poured. My only issue with this is that none of the wait staff explained about the happy hour specials, or that the blue menu was for happy hour or whatever. I started my night with a glass of wine. I'm going to give mad points because they have Dreaming Tree Crush on the menu. If you're a Dave Matthews fan you will get why this was awesome. No complaints there. Our wait staff (I say staff because it appeared we had a couple folks helping) were attentive to our drink needs. I appreciate that, even though I milked the same glass of wine the entire evening. For dinner I stuck to appetizers and ordered the ahi tuna sashimi in orange Asian sauce or something. It was very good. I do get that it was an appetizer, but it was kind of a small portion. You only get 5 pieces of tuna. I'm sorry, but I'm not sharing if that's all I get. That being said, I think the combination of the greens & the orange sauce really accented the fish nicely. It was quite tasty. ( which might be why I wanted more) I also ordered the peppadew sauce & goat cheese with toast points. I really enjoyed the flavour of this dish also. I shared it with a couple people at the table & they liked it too. I wanted to take my sauce home, but there was a lot of commotion & the guy came & took it away before I realized what was going on ...totally not his fault. I can only focus on one thing at a time. It did take awhile to get our bills, and my friend actually went to the front to pay hers. When my bill came, it was wrong. They added a glass of white wine to it that wasn't mine. I went ahead & paid for it because I didn't know if it would come out of the staff's tips. I used to waitress, and that was the policy. Waiters don't make enough to be paying for those drinks. Also, I was in a hurry. That being said, not everyone will do that, so the staff might want to work on their attention to detail, as I saw from other reviews that this has happened before. I like the atmosphere and the decor of the restaurant. I actually liked the chairs & tried to figure out how u could sneak them out of the place. ;). I also loved the cotton candy. I've seen people asking "why?", and my answer is; "sometimes the reason is just because". Just go with it. I do plan on going back in a smaller group & having an entre. Despite the few issues I had, I would recommend people try Salt & form their own opinions. I would've given it a higher review had it not been for the few issues I had. I'm going to go back because I believe my experience will get better. :)

Amazing food! Everything about this place is wonderful. Had the chicken breast with wasabi mashed potatoes and seared spinach. Husband had ravioli with chicken and shrimp. We loved it all! The end of the meal came with sour apple cotton candy which was the perfect ending. Reservations are a must on the weekend. Service was fantastic.

First off, let me say that Salt is very nice aesthetically speaking. Nothing much like it in Omaha as far as I have seen. Very modern and colorful. Wait staff, though you can tell very new, where pretty good. Now for food. Ordered Goat Cheese Rangoon and Tuscan Fries for appetizers. Very small portions, Rangoon and Fries were decent, but the portion size of the fries was a little crazy. $7.00 for "maybe" a cup of fries? Salads and soup came and were decent, but no WOW factor. But again, the size of these portions was extremely small. Entrees: Cedar plank salmon, Veal Cop and Pasta and Ravioli Artesa. While there was no issue with the portion sizes with entrees. However, they were not prepared (cooked) very well. Wife's salmon was ordered medium and came out raw. My Veal Chop was ordered medium and came out so raw it was actually still cold in the center. Daughter(s) really enjoyed her pasta she split with her sister (nice highlight). Let me state that I fully understand that quantity does not equal quality (like a lot of people think). However, the sizes of the appetizers for the price charged was disappointing. Don't really understand the cotton candy at end of meal, but it was a home run with the kids! Overall, not bad, but nothing that would make me want to rush back.

I visited salt for the first time at lunch on Valentines day. We had "OUT of this world" service. Our waiter was just the right amount of attentiveness and was very helpful with choosing wines. He brought us some to taste just for fun and of course they were so good we had to order a couple of glasses. Food was tasty and not pretentious. A couple of weeks later we brought our teens with us on a Sunday. Happy Hour all day!!! Everyone found something on the menu they liked which is saying something since we have some picky eaters. The services was very good once again. The cotton candy was a big hit. Now...they want to go every Sunday.

Went here for lunch today, loved loved loved the Pouring Rain drink, delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day! We had great service and the food was good. Shared the warm mozzarella appetizer, good but wish they served it with basil. Swai tacos were very good, lightly breaded! Side salad was huge and very fresh. Portobello mushroom sandwich was good too, my friend thought it had too thick of a slice of tomato though, kind of distracted from the rest of the sandwich. Diablo pizza was really good, and huge, didn't realize it was so big, I had 2 pieces and taking the rest home. Overall great first experience we will go again!! If nothing else just for that Pouring Rain drink!! YUM!

My husband and I went to Salt88 for dinner and had several appetizers and pizza. The Salt & Pepper Calamari was pretty good, although was heavily breaded which isn't my favorite. The Avocado Egg Rolls were very good and the Warm Fresh Mozzarella was a let down - very boring flavor. Our pizza (Jo Geez) was good and made well but nothing that I would specifically go back to Salt88 for. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. Overall a good experience, but not something that I would go back for. The prices are way too high for a 3 star review. This may be a better place to go to for their happy hour specials than for their dinner menu.

Very disappointed!! This was our first time eating at the restaurant. Staff was very unfriendly; my Miso Salmon dinner was undercooked/raw - had to be sent back and NO ONE came to our table to apologize for the inconveniece or to offer to take off our bill. My Husband was done with his dinner when I FINALLY got my dinner back. We had to wave down Chloe our waitress in the first place, to tell her about my dinner and then she did not come and recheck on my dinner, after I had gotten it back, until I was 3/4th of the way done. The Miso Salmon has no flavor - at all. Also, they have their waitresses busing tables - maybe that's why they are too busy to take care of their customers. I would not go back or recommend to anyone.

I love trying new restaurants, fortunately the restaurant was great, unfortunately our server Derek was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! There was a table of four right next to us that he obviously thought had a lot of money or knew somehow, either way he did not even look our way once! He was literally serving the table so close to us I barely had to reach my hand out to touch him, and completely ignored us the entire time we were there. He tended to their every need. The only thing he did was take our drink order, and barely our entree order. He never once came back to refill our drinks. It took 20 minutes for him to FINALLY come back and take our entree order. I had to ask every other person in the restaurant for everything else. I even had to get up and track him down for condiments and FINALLY for our check. SO UNBELIEVABLE. He should never have been hired.

The two times I've been here, it's been worth it each time. Walking in, the ladies at the front open the doors for you and automatically greet you. Sometimes you have to wait for five minutes, but not here! They sat me right away in the area the farthest away from the bar. The modern, but relaxing feeling of the restaurant lets people realize you can dress up or you can dress down here. I'm not going to lie the food is pricey, but after you try anything - it's delicious. The Salmon Cakes, the bruschetta, the cheese board, the sweet and sour pizza are all delicious! The most surprising part about the dinner was the cotton candy. I never thought a fancy place such as this would actually give you cotton candy at the end. It just shows that this restaurant can be fun as well!

This is my new fave place in Omaha! I knew the service was top notch when we arrived and waited less than 5 minutes to be seated but were offered complimentary slices of pizza while we waited. Ok, i'm liking this so far! The dining room is BEAUTIFUL. Modern, posh, clean, very well put together, but still relaxed and fun enough not to feel stuffy... just like I like it. We tried a few drinks, and the Make It Rain was by far the best; you gotta try it! Another thing you have to try is the Goat Cheese Rangoon. OMG! I will admit when I was eating I was thinking mmmm I could see myself at home in my sweats secretly eating about three orders of these!!! Delicious! The Jo Geez pizza was my favorite, with more delicious goat cheese on that and yummy mozzarella. To finish off the awesome factor you get complimentary cotton candy when you're finished. Perfect ambiance and perfect ending for a nice date night with a cotton candy to share and giggle about.

My wife and I ate lunch here. Good beer selection. I really liked the BLT egg roll Asian fusion appetizer. I had a sandwich and my wife had pasta. We both liked our food. Green apple cotton candy to wrap up was a fun touch. I'll be back.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. I love Hiro (has the best Sushi in the city) but this place just has average food. Maybe it was what I chose. I got the grilled shrimp salad. Delicious shrimp but there were only 6. On a big pile of field greens that I couldve picked up at CostCo for $5. I think there were a few olives on there ... like 4. It just seemed a bit overpriced for what was served. I just was underwhelmed by the food. My friends had a pizza, which looked good, but I am not a big pizza fan. The atmosphere is nice, so I am sure the hipster crowd will call this the new place to be seen, even if it is just average.

Met friends for happy hour drinks and appetizers. Had the salmon cakes, pork and chickens gyoza (deep fried dumplings) and a couple of pizzas. The food was uniformly good to excellent and our server was excellent. Perused the dinner menu and saw a lot of tempting choices. Will be back soon for dinner.

Great service, great food, very expensive. The bread is not worth $5. The Other Calimari and both sauces very nice. Side soup Tomato and side Caesar salad both very good. Husband had the Steak Dubrovnik ($30) and I had the Miso Marinated Salmon ($27). We enjoyed our entrees. Bottom line, next time we go back we will skip the appetizers and just get the soup and entree.

I went to Salt based on them being rated #1 during a pizza review last year. The atmosphere: Looks great inside, but very loud. Don't expect to have an intimate conversation here if you come on a Saturday night. I would either go early or try this place during the week, if that is what you are looking for. The service: No big complaints. Our server was attentive. Plates were cleared off the table promptly. My only constructive criticism would be for the staff to inquire how the food was. We were never asked if our drinks or food were okay. The drinks: Being pregnant, I ordered a mock-tail, raspberry lemonade, with lemon juice, raspberry puree, mint, and soda. It was good, but the mint was left out, so I had to request it when our server made it back to the table. No big deal, but it did take a while before I could request it. The husband started with Certified Evil Ale, followed by a Pinot Noir with dinner, then a latte with Frangelico & cinnamon (not offered on the menu, but his request). He seemed pleased with it all. The food: We started with a complimentary slice of sweet & spicy pizza, nice touch. See details below. Bread Service: 4 different rolls (I believe dark rye, light rye, sourdough, and rosemary) were brought out with olive oil, parmesan, and honey. The bread was soft and fresh. $5 Crab Cakes: 2 small crab cakes served with 2 slices of crostini, romesco sauce, and a small pile of greens. The crab cakes were just okay, too much breading for my preference. They could have used more crab and a lemon wedge. The sauce was great. $11 Tuna: The husband ordered 2 appetizers for his dinner, spicy tuna tataki and seared white tuna, which were both served on a bed of greens with sauces. He enjoyed them, but being pregnant I didn't try either. $11 Pizza, my reason for visiting: Carne Asada (their special of the week) 12 inch brick oven pizza, with thin crust, no sauce that I'm aware of, cheese, "carne asada", pico de gallo, and sour cream. After hearing that Salt was rated #1 for pizza, I had high hopes, but this pizza was a let down. The thin crust was undercooked. The carne asada was seasoned ground beef, not grilled meat which is what carne asada means. The pico was meh (onions, tomatoes, cilantro) & it just caused the pizza to get soggy when served on top vs on the side. This pizza was under-seasoned and lack luster, especially at $17. The pizza was served with a side salad which just consisted of greens topped with a dressing of my choice. A few basic additions like cucumber and tomato would be nice. We did start dinner with a complimentary slice of pizza, the sweet & spicy, which was topped with spicy sausage, roasted bell peppers, mozzarella, and a sweet & spicy tomato sauce. I enjoyed the flavors, but again the crust was undercooked. A minute or two longer in the oven would have made this pizza stand out more. Salt offers some specialty pizzas (smoked salmon, chipotle shrimp, braised fennel) that I would be willing to try in the future, but I wouldn't have high expectations like I did the first time around & I would make it a point to request the pizza be cooked for longer. Dessert: I agree with others, I would prefer to look at a dessert menu instead of hearing the options from our server. We settled on a dessert that was described as tiramisu with amaretto with a scoop of cappuccino gelato. We opted for the salted caramel gelato instead. The dessert was just okay. It appeared to be layers of sponge cake or lady fingers & a hazelnut cream topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. The plate had honey on it, which I thought was overkill. It was sweet enough. The scoop of gelato, tasted good, but was just that a taste, the portion was a spoonful at best. Afterwards, we were offered complimentary cotton candy, which we declined. The server seemed to think it was odd that we weren't interested. Overall, not bad, but there was no wow factor that made me want more. A few tweaks here and there, would have made this a better experience: drinks prepared as described, server asking how everything was, more seasoning on the pizza with actual carne asada & cooked longer for a crispy crust, nix the honey with dessert and serve it with a proper scoop of gelato. Would I give this place a second chance? Sure, but it doesn't make my list of top pizzas or restaurants that I crave, based on this visit. I'm hoping that will change next time.

EDITED: We love Salt and have been going here regularly since it opened. In fact, the manager knows us as well as the bartenders and wait staff. I think John knows us too! Love Hiro next door too. In Omaha, Salt is as good as it gets. Fantastic service, terrific inside and outside atmosphere, great food and great drinks. The first, oh, probably 5 times we went we never ate a meal because we had taken a liking to the appetizers and drinks so much! We are usually better off just getting our meals to go to eat for the lunch the next day. Salt n pepper Calamari totally awesome, meatballs awesome, everything awesome. Love the smoke flavor in some of the pasta dishes! thank you guys, keep it up! Guys, you are no longer 5 stars. When you increase prices by 100% and the customer is not expecting it, will you lose that regular customer? We enjoyed receiving two tacos on your happy hour menu. Now we get one. What is up with that? The least you could have done was sent out a text or email giving us a heads up that prices were going to double on some items. In addition, I finally got around to trying the Veal chop. I hated it. Way too tough and too much gristle, not a lot of meat either. I thought the two cups of mushrooms poured on top was overpowering as well. Perhaps you could implement Veal Piccata instead of that veal chop? I can't imagine many folks liking that veal chop. So, we hope to see prices return to what they were...at least during happy hours. Reducing quantity by half but keeping the price the same is equal to doubling the price. (I.E. tacos). You guys raised prices significantly.

Salt was listed in Wine Spectator for their wine list...which is why we tried it. But after a wonderful dinner with great wine, prompt service and excellent food...we will come back here not only for the wine. Highly recommend the meatball app, cedar plank salmon, lamb chops, and gelato. We travel and eat at fine restaurants often...and Salt is worth the visit.

Haha...don't you love how some people try to validate their review to you? Like, "I used to live in San Francisco and had a roommate that was a chef of a fabulously successful restaurant SO I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?!" Stop trying to make it seem like your review is somehow more meaningful because you just sound like you are a tool. End rant. I have only been to Salt once and really look forward to going back to give them another shot! We went on a Monday night and got seated right away--not very crowded and a really nice ambiance. I started with a glass of the white sangria while waiting for a friend. YUMMY! Not too sweet and just the right amount of booze. =] The waiter was a little obnoxious, I must say, coming over 4-5 times in the 20 minutes I waited for my friend... telling me the same things about the menu over and over again. OK. Uh huh. I heard you the first time. Leave me be so I can savor this delicious drink in front of me. Once my friend arrived she ordered the red sangria and it was also to die for. Plus served in mason jars! So trendy this place! By this time, I was ordered another drink, this time the Make It Rain. PERFECT! Light. Refreshing. I want this every day. Now food. I ordered a cup of their tomato soup and the Ravioli Artesa while my friend ordered the Pesce Arrabiata. Soup was wonderful though a little rich, but I didn't mind with my glass of heaven to wash it down with. My ravioli was good, but WHOLEY PEPPER! And I mean that, whole peppercorns ! The good part of that pepper was it was so big, I could easily pick around it. Friend's dish was good, and not as overly peppered, though we were goth surprised hers was also a cream sauce, we were both expecting a red sauce. Finally, the now infamous cotton candy they give out. Ours was some weird Blue Raspberry flavor that neither of us cared for, but I'm not holding it against them. All in all, I liked it, pepper and all. I will definitely be giving them another shot to do better. May have just been an off night--this was during restaurant week, and they could have been more focused on the tasting menu. I will be going back, hopefully for happy hour! =]

Finally got to check out Salt 88 for the first time after anxiously waiting until my birthday and we were not disappointed! For starters, my husband tried to make a reservation on Open Table for 10 people a couple of nights out. When the earliest option came back later than we'd hoped, he called the restaurant directly and was able to secure us a reservation earlier in the night so as not to derail our plans. A pleasant surprise, compared to our last Open Table experience, that's for sure! I think my high point of the night came right at the beginning - with my DELICIOUS glass of white Sangria. It's a little sweeter than I expected, but that was just fine with me. For starters, we ordered the charcuterie and avocado egg rolls for the table. I didn't get any egg rolls (they were snatched up too quickly), but the charcuterie was delicious. It comes with a delicious spicy oil that is not to be missed -- I only wish I'd put it on every bite! My pesce arrabiatta was tasty, as well. But when the waitress accidentally brought two orders of the plank-fired scottish salmon to our table (instead of two salmon pizzas), I immediately knew what I will be ordering upon my next visit. Holy cow it was quite possibly the most delicious thing I'd ever laid eyes upon. All-in-all, one of my new favorite places in town. We've already recommended it to several people looking for a new place for date night and have only heard good things back. Can't wait for our next trip!

This is my first Yelp review and I wish it was going to be a better review. I was torn between giving it a two or three star but overall I had to give it a two. We had reservations for 6:00 which probably really weren't necessary, there were four of us in our party. Their Happy Hour was still going for another half hour which we thought was good since we were going to order drinks and appetizers anyhow. There were three hostesses working and all were kind of lost and made a bigger deal out of the happy hour than needed. Basically, since we wanted the happy hour, we had to sit over in the lounge area. Ok fine, just sit us there. You really can't tell the different between the two areas anyhow but they all seemed to think it was a big deal. Then our waitress came, wow. Again, a bigger deal was made over stuff then there needed to be. Especially since we were going to be ordering Happy Hour items and off of the regular dinner menu. Evidently, I'm missing something there. We ordered four appetizers since they were on special and we wanted to try several things. Well the waitress didn't write down what we ordered and when she went to repeat the order before leaving the table, she had already forgotten one of the items. This has got to be one of my biggest pet peeves, I don't care if you're trying to fancy or whatever, write my order down. The guys ordered beers and the waitress made a big production out of pouring the beers, "May I pour your beer for you?" "I am now going to pour your beer", just pour the beer and sit it down.. The appetizers were okay, the goat cheese rangoons were good. The goat cheese gratin was okay except there only being three sad little pieces of goat cheese swimming in a bowl of red sauce. Everything came with the red sauce, the others in the group liked it but I thought it was a little too tomatoey (it needed to be cooked down a little more). It took a little effort to get our dinner order placed, again I think because of the big deal they make out of happy hour stuff. Thankfully, the waitress wrote this part down. I ordered the chicken and asparagus pasta (without the mushrooms). It was really good and luckily I like peas because those were in the dish. Two of the other dinner dishes had items in them that weren't listed. Again, another pet peeve of mine. I don't really like surprises in my food. The fourth member of our group ordered the steak and he was not impressed with it at all, he said it was tough. I had thought about ordering a pizza but someone at the table next to us ordered one and it made me change my mind. The crust looked under cooked, actually the whole thing looked a lot like a frozen pizza. Dessert was offered but the waitress was again so annoying that it turned me off. They don't have a dessert menu so she had to rattle them off from memory. I prefer to have a menu so we can discuss the options amongst ourselves without "help" from the waitress. Unless, there's a dessert tray where we can see what the items are. We all ended up declining dessert so we got a cotton candy, I guess as like a consolation. We only got one to split between the four of us, but the two girls at the table next to us got one each. We really didn't care, as we left part of it uneaten anyhow, but it probably really should be the same for everyone.

I've been anxiously awaiting for this place to open. Yesterday I stopped in for a late lunch and was taken back by the decor-- absolutely beautiful! Then I was given a little tour by one of the managers and I have to say the patio area is beautiful as well facing the golf course. I like to keep it light for lunch so I just ordered the hamburger and fries, and they were delicious, quite tasty and fresh. I may have to revise my 4 stars to 5 becasue I reviewed the dinner menu and it looks amazing.. Stay tuned!

Tried Salt for the first time last Friday. Nice environment and decoration. Wasn't a huge fan of the "fancy" plastic chairs, seemed too casual/out of place for the rest of the decor. My 2 main comments would be 1. The salad that comes with your dinner isn't as much a salad as it is lettuce with dressing - it would be nice to see even a couple veggies in there - a couple cucumber slices and a tomato or something. On the flip side the dressing the Chipolte ranch was delicious actually spicy which was great! 2. For my meal I ordered the Amatriciana - the description was Grilled Chicken - Cavatappi - Red Sauce I was very disappointed when the dish arrived to find a TON of onions and Panchetta (I think or something like it) mixed in. I don't like that the menu description didn't clearly have all the items. I spent a lot of time picking around the onions and panchetta. Minus the onions and Panchetta the dish did have good flavor. Another person we were dining with also had additional items in their pasta dish that weren't listed. If you are going to list out what the menu item is - please include everything. Salt 88 isn't close to home and the experience wasn't probably worth rushing right back for.

This restaurant is a winner. We continue to choose this place for lunch as well as dinner because the service, food and atmosphere. The servers are very knowledgable and customer friendly. We enjoy the Avocado egg rolls and Swai tacos with the great sauce on the side. Drinks are excellent, especially the Jimmy Hendrix. Tomato bisque soup is so tasty I wanted to lick the bowl! We really enjoyed the Miso Salmon and the Ravioli. Our friends were so impressed with their dishes as well. They had the Steak and Spicy Shrimp Pasta. Finishing up with a complimentary spool of Cotton Candy is unique.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Came here with my husband because we heard that the patio was very nice. We called ahead and placed our reservation with the hostess. She stated that it would take a couple hours over the phone. Went in about 30 minutes early to get a drink and after half an hour checked with the hostess to see if our table was ready. The hostess was vague and responded that we would be seated soon. After another 15 minutes (we were very hungry) I politely went back to the host stand to inquire whether they knew we had placed a reservation and the owner John Horvatinovich (who was standing at the host stand the entire time) began to yell at me. I had to tell HIM to calm down. My husband is a chef in Dundee and when he heard how the owner yelled at me he was outraged. The owner clearly realized how out of line he was and came to our spot at the bar to say our table was ready, but by then we were just ready to leave. The owner never apologized for his rude behavior. I have worked as a waitress and my husband has worked for restaurants for many years, I would never dream of speaking to a customer the way he spoke to me. At the bar, we had cocktails and they were premixed. Not very impressive.

the food was not that tasty, some yhings were good but not all it was like we need to add salt to everything... but the service was awful 3 times in a row.

Fantastic service, and wonderful food for anyone, even good for those of us who are quite picky. Good for those who like fancy drinks, with even more fancy food, and they don't slump on the portions....

Back to Salt 88 again on a busy Friday night. Great to see the place packed like we were convinced it would be. The review in yesterday's Omaha World-Herald seemed a bit lukewarm...this place has a lot going for it but that didn't seem to come across well in the article.. The crowded dining room didn't seem to notice, though. This time, we started with the Swai Tacos--there's a return visit right there. Followed by Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken. Fantastic, even with the taste of grilling over gas in evidence. She had the Plank-Fired Scottish Salmon, another reason to return. Just out of this world. Mine was Steak Dubrovnick, done perfectly and accompanied by wasabi mashed potatoes. Simply delicious. The service was what you would expect on a packed Friday night. But the server, well, like last time, Brynn knows the menu--a rare treat way too often--is a lot of fun and made another meal enjoyable. $110 with tip. We'll return.

A friend and I came during happy hour on a weekday and I saw pictures beforehand, so I made sure we got a table on the patio. It was so nice out, so being on the patio was perfect. We ordered the calamari, swai tacos, and mussels. The mussels were probably my favorite out of the three. The calamari was extra crispy and it was served with marinara sauce, which some people might like, but I didn't really care for it. I wish they had a different sauce paired with it. The swai tacos were just two soft tacos with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, and two slices of breaded fish on top. They came with a ranch dressing/sauce on the side. Mehh this was just alright. Nothing too special. I also ordered the mango mojito, which came in a cute mason jar! I'm a sucker for drinks in mason jars haha. The mojito was refreshing and I'd definitely order it again and it was only $5 for happy hour. Overall, it was a nice place to catch up with a friend and pretty good happyhour portions! I wouldn't mind coming back and trying some other dishes!

I think it is impossible for Salt to serve a bad meal. EVERY TIME we go the food gets better and better!

I went to Salt 88 expecting a typical Nebraskan restaurant experience. Being a resident of Flyover Country, it is difficult to find fresh ingredients and food that tastes true to its origins. Tex-mex tends more on the American side in Omaha, and sushi here may as well be made out of canned tuna and Mexican rice. The delineation of culture is blurred, and although restaurants try their hardest, the Nebraskan pallet is not ready to accept authentic foods. That said, I expected another dull dance on my taste buds when trying Salt 88 for the first time. I was initially disappointed by the fact that one must pay extra to have bread served, but it turns out that the bread service is worth every bit of the $4. Five types of bread are served with honey, a parmesan and basil blend, and a vial of olive oil. There was also a pleasing variety of dressings for our salads, which tended to a Japanese theme with ginger, sesame, and carrot. Entrees range from $13 to $27, so you can have a high class experience while only spending $15 out the door. I did just that by ordering the Chicken Tekka with wasabi mash and seared spinach. The seasoning on the spinach was not optimal (very large cracked pepper), but the wasabi mash was exceptionally done and the chicken was the most tender chicken breast I've ever had at a restaurant. All in all, this was the best meal I've ever had for $13. My friend got a shrimp pasta dish (the name escapes me). The dish was not as well done, mostly because the flavorful cream sauce was diluted by the use of spaghetti instead of a more adequate angel hair or linguini. Atmosphere is great, service was friendly, and our waters were always full. To top off the experience, they brought out a stick of cotton candy as we signed the bill. Initially off-putting, the cotton candy turned out to be a delightful dessert; nice and light and Orange Sorbet flavored instead of the traditional bubble gum. I will come back, and hope that any one reading this gives the restaurant a chance as well. I'm not one for reviews, but this place deserves it.

New, trendy. The cocktail "Make It Rain" was delicious but mostly ice. I think the mason jar in which it was served had 2 ounces at the most of liquid for the $8. Delicious appetizer - fusion fish taco - did not grab us enough to stay for dinner. Would have easily been $100 for the two of us had we ordered entrees. Noticed the odd serving of after dinner cotton candy at near by tables.

First Impression: No wait... why is there no wait at 8pm on a saturday night? I was a bit nervous because of this but also extremely happy. Second impression: Loved the decorations and was excited to try the drink menu. My boyfriend ordered The Nine and I got the Raspberry Lemonade. The Nine was a very smooth drink- I highly recommend it and the Lemonade was great if looking for a non-alcoholic option. For appetizers we ordered the regular salt and pepper calamari with marinara sauce. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the sauce was good, however, the sauce is a little too runny to be used as a dip without making a mess. Entrees: I ordered the Chicken Tekka and my boyfriend ordered the Amatriciana. I have the same complaint as others on the Chicken Tekka: the cracked pepper in the spinach is too large and ruins the side instead of enhancing it. Otherwise I loved the wasabi mashed potatoes and chicken ( I couldnt taste the wasabi though as much as I tried). The amatriciana was great, the noodles were cooked perfectly and we would definitely get this dish again. Dessert: I was also frustrated that we were not given a menu, I couldn't remember all the options and my boyfriend was stuck on option 3 and I was on option 2. We went with option 3 which was fabulous, but I cant recommend it because I have no idea what we ordered. We were only given one cotton candy- I wasnt sure how it was given out but I thought this was interesting. It was really good though. Overall: We both agreed that we would return especially if we just want to go out an get a drink. The food was some of the best we have had in Omaha and we enjoyed the atmosphere immensely. The service was also very good.

Went here for my birthday last night, called ahead for reservations. Very beautiful set up, I love the chandelier hanging near the wine display. Our server was a nice man but seemed pretty stressed out as the night went on. The food was great, of course we had to try the goat cheese rangoons and we also had the bruschetta. Both great appetizers! Everyone in my group was pleased with their entrée as well... regardless of the semi-slow service, considering it was a Tuesday night and not too terribly busy. When it came to dessert, we ordered raspberry cheesecake which we found out about 15 minutes later they were out of. Our server said he would replace it with gelato (we were very appreciative of this gesture), at no charge! The gelato was delicious by the way. When our ticket came, it showed we were still being charged for it. We had it adjusted, simple fix. All in all I had a great experience, if I could change one thing it would be the servers attentiveness to our table and order, as he came back more than once double check what we ordered.

Great service and good food. Cotton candy finish was silly, unwanted and found its way to the nearest trash can. I.ll return to try other menu items!
