Pepperjax is next to Hunan Fusion across from Fazolis and KFC Arbor street/turnoff for the 132nd street Runza turning left if you are heading towards Center from Pacific. there is a 4 way stoplight there so getting in and out and turning anyway you want is no problem they are in Orchard. Corners? I think.. Orchard something. there is an ample parking lot but I always noticed the spaces in front of Pepperjax were taken. after eating my cheesesteak. I understand why. I have been to a Pepperjax in South Overland Park. it was good- but it was far from where I lived so I rarely felt like driving out just for a cheesesteak. I had a 5 mile radius when I lived in KC. I rarely ventured out of it now- Marriott Regency will be my #1 indulge cheesesteak.. Pepperjax is my #1 reasonably priced delicious cheesesteak in my neighborhood that I will be going to often now. the great cheesesteak challenge is over. Pepperjax won. their ingredients are fresh and the cheesesteak is custom prepared for you. I noticed they also have natural ketchup without all that corn syrup. I give them kudos for that. i don't eat ketchup myself- but i wince when i see everybody else putting it on now knowing what is in it. if the rest would follow we all would benefit from less processed ketchup. off the soapbox. back to Pepperjax. they have a sign with all the things they are doing to give us less processed food. I love them for that. it means I can eat there more often. the place had a line when I walked in but it didn't take long. the chefs were hysterical to interact with - very outgoing and fun. watching them expertly make the cheesesteaks from the start was as fun as I remember it being the first time I went. you have more options than cheesesteaks here including burritos rice bowls salads etc. there is a area after you pay that has literally everything you may need for whatever you ordered. I suggest grabbing the salt. I like they didn't oversalt but unless you have a low sodium order you'll need to salt your cheesesteak. I took a couple mouthfuls and then got the salt and it was perfect after that- mine had onions peppers and mushrooms with cheese. I considered extra cheese until I saw them preparing the people ahead of me. what they put on is plenty. the bread is fresh and delicious. its not a toasted sub per se.. but they heat the bread, the whole thing is hot and the cheese melts and brings it all together. the subs are piled, I don't know how they can fit extra meat. sub enhancement? (LOL) you can also add jalapenos and for the brave - the Fireball, where its all cooked in jalapeno juice. the gentleman ahead of me chose that and I chose a table to watch him eat his cheesesteak . from the way he was acting. Fireball was an apt name. Hotstuff! I also ordered fries and a tea. their tea they have bottled or freshmade unsweetened or sweet. the unsweetened tea was fantastic. fries were enough for two or in my case.. they are allll MINE.. get your own. since the cheesesteak was plenty for future orders i'd stick with it.. totally reasonable lunch.. the dining room is comfy and has a nice view of 132nd. the tables were bussed often and I was checked on by the nice man that asked me as he picked up my empty cheesesteak basket- how it was.. Delicious. I will be back. he said that's what I like to hear! so..thunderous applause to Pepperjax.. I probably should have come to you first but I'm stubborn that way..

This place is awesome! I had the best steak salad ever and my husband got the Philly cheese steak and he also loved it!! The service is very fast, they make the food right in front of you and the staff is friendly!! Pricing is great too!! I'm from Wisconsin, wish we had one of these!! :)

I dig it. Good guilty pleasure food and even though it is chain, it is at least a local chain. Atmosphere is what it is-strip mall decor. You get a good sized sandwich here and enough so that I can skip their fries, which are not the kind I usually enjoy. It's a good tasting sandwich especially when I put the mushroom sauce off the condiment bar on it. Usually a three star place for me, this particular location has the best staff at this time of the three that I usually go to. Much quicker, more friendly and more accurate on the grill.

I'd rate this higher, but the bread is too doughy for my normal taste. Still, it's good for a change of pace and if you go away hungry, you are doing it wrong. The salads and rice bowl are good, but the added veggies are a bit bland to me.

Always love this place. I get the Philly and dip it into mushroom gravy more than I care to admit.

The steak sandwich was real good. I had one with double-meat as suggested by a friend. Yea - it was huge! My only complaint was that the meat was too salty. I ordered the steak with onions, peppers, and jalepenos with the jalepeno juice to make it spicier. It wasn't as spicy as it was salty. I made it through the sandwich but it was the saltiest meat I have ever had on a sandwich. I'd go again but this time, only single the meat and ask for some without the spices to see if that is where the salt comes from.

Our first time eating here & it was a total hit! Staff was wonderful, efficient, & very quick. Also communicated so you knew what was going on. Sandwich & wrap were great & the steak was definitely better than expected. We'll drive a bit further to come back to this location!

I'm apparently not in agreement with the majority here by only giving three stars (especially because Pepperjax was voted "Best Sandwich in Omaha" the past two years by Omaha magazine.) It's a place to get a gut-busting sandwich, without a doubt. Oh and fries. So you're not in danger of leaving here wanting more. I couldn't even finish my sandwich. But I also didn't feel sad that I didn't finish. If I had felt compelled to force it down to the point of feeling bloated, then I'd be more likely to give 4-starts. I'm not really a huge fan of philly's, but they're definitely the best thing on the menu here.

If you are looking to grab a quick bite in old market and Philly steak is your thing, this will do. All cooked in front of you, piping hot sub and steak fries and good choices of sauces are available. A solid offering at a decent price.

For semi-fast food, Pepperjax is a good pick. The Cheese Steak is pretty good (again remember semi-fast food). The only thing that I can complain about is that sometimes they put way too much of that steak seasoning on the meat which makes it mondo salty. Their fries are good - and I like playing with all of the different sauces they have though none are really that great. Chicken can be dry sometimes so watch out for that. Take it for what it is - rather eat here than BK or Mickey D's.

FAMOUS FOR - Philly Cheesesteak (3/10) If you're an Omaha newbie like me, and you heard this on the radio, first thing you should know, this is a local chain. It's set up and looks like a Chipotle. Few things about Omaha that don't sit well with me. McDonald's doesn't have Southern Chicken Biscuit, nobody knows about Coke Zero, and sports radio is all freaking college sports, and I HATE college sports! How am I supposed to update my Fantasy league if all you talk about is Husker this and Husker that?! Well, in my frantic Seek button mashing on the rental car stereo looking for ESPN radio or something, I come across this commercial where they basically tout Pepperjax as having the "Best Phillies in America!" Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let me get this straight. There is a city, 1,200 miles straight East of here that not only created this sandwich, but has their name in the friggin' sandwich, and of all places, Nebraska, a landlocked state that has an alarmingly high number of sushi restaurants, claims to have the BEST "That City" Cheesesteak Sandwich? Hm. Good luck! Ok, first of all, real Philly cheesesteaks have meat, cheese, and onions. They don't have peppers or mushrooms, or Dorithy Smith or whatever, and don't F around with raspberry vinaigrette, ok? So STOP claiming that you have America's best PHILLY when it is NOT a Philly! You can call it a Cheesesteak, but not a Philly. CHEESESTEAK Let's talk about the bread, because the bread is fantastic, and I want to cool off all this negative energy before I bring it up again. Bread is my enemy. It not only steals flavors, but it also butts in and adds its own boring flavors to ruin meals. Well, Jax apparently uses the same bread that they use in Philly, and it's very airy and thin, not crunchy or crispy, but it also dissolves fast, and doesn't leave a trace of taste. It acts as a good vessel and edible au jus soaking apparatus. The steak is a thin cut of ribeye, and beat to hell, so it comes out in shreds (not slices like Philly), and the cheese is probably white American, or maybe a blend. You specify the ingredients, but standard is peppers, onions, mushrooms. They cook it on the grill on the spot, have this neat way of blanketing the meat with the bread, and scooping it all in. I can't tell if it was the steak or the generous amounts of cheese, but it was salty as hell! I mean, it had to have been the cheese, but cheese salty has a different flavor usually, but this tasted like salt salt, even though there wasn't anything else that went in, but cheese, that could have made that. It was difficult to eat, but when you're hungry, you have no choice. They have a sauce station where you can scoop a cup of different sauces, like some vinaigrette, au jus, ranch, and stuff, but the cheesesteak is so salty, adding more sauce to it is just plan masochistic. But I have a weakness. I need hot sauce! They have their own Pepperjax hot sauce, and it tastes like a bad Louisiana hot sauce. It sucks, it's extra salty, and adds a cardboard flavoring, plus it's not spicy. Lose lose. PEPPERJOKES Well, how's that for "Failed to meet expectations"? Granted, Geno's and Pat's weren't my favorite cheesesteaks either, but I've had plenty of good cheesteaks in random places that were way better (and obviously less sodium) than Pepperjax. Despite this fact, I came here twice (yeah, I know, weird). It was fast and cured hunger, so at least that much good can be said about this place. If Chipotle was next door, I'd go there instead.

One steak cheesesteak, one grilled veg wrap, one side of fries, one bolus of sodium. I can see why folks like it here - gigantic portions, high sodium content, simple menu options. Overall it was too salty, too messy and too mediocre for me, but I know some peeps who would love this place.

Pepperjax is awesome! The cheese steak sandwiches are beyond great, fresh and made to order. I have no idea what anything else tastes like because these sandwiches are so good I've never ordered anything else. If you like your lunch spicy, then ask them for the "fireball" treatment when they are grilling it up. I can't wrap my mind around other people's reviews, but allow me to retort to their issues: 1. Cheese Steak Sandwiches aren't good for you: What?! Has someone alerted the press about this? Do doctors know? 2. The menu is simple: I'd rather eat at a place that does 3 things fantastically instead of 25 things ok. 3. There is a lot of sodium in cheese steaks: See #1 4. Rolls are not crispy: I don't know about you, but I prefer soft rolls. Do they make chesse steaks with baguets? 5. The meat is greasy: I've been more times than you can swing a cat at and that has never happened to me. 6. The meat is chopped to pieces: Did you expect a full steak on a roll? 7. It's not as good as Gino's or Pat's: Never been there, so I don't know about that. Since it's a bit of jaunt to the City of Brotherly Love, I'll just stay local and trust your word on that one. 8. The portions were too big: That's a good problem to have. I seldom finish a whole sandwich myself. Here's a quick tip: cut it in half, ask for a to go box. They are still killer the next day (reheated of course) If you are in Omaha, want a great cheese steak sandwich and understand that it's not health food come here!

Pros: Pretty good Philly outside of Philly Cons: Not at all healthy Pepperjax Grill, aka belt buster cafe, is quite delicious if you need to wet your appetite for a Philly sandwich. I've had authentic Phillys at Pat's and Gino's in Philadelphia, and while Pepperjax doesn't quite match up to the legends, it makes a darn good Philly in its own right. I love to get some jalapenos as well as mushrooms topped with melted provolone (they don't have whiz like Philly, big let down.) I can't eat here very often because it's terrible for you and most of the time I feel the effects after eating one, but I usually eat here once or twice a year when I'm home visiting the family and always enjoy it.

Do not order the chicken. It is some sort of highly processed chicken bits. Also, skip the bun and get a wrap. The buns are so small and hard that they render the sandwich impossible to eat.

Wellllll, a cheesesteak from here is as good as I've had here in Okieha, you can hear your arteries slamming shut for blocks but I'm sayin OH WELL! The kids they have doing the stuff are a little green but you don't need Chef Pierre to do their prepackaged routine. Overall this is a really, really good alternative as opposed to the generally crappy fast lunch offerings available here in town. Calorie wise it's probably only marginally worse than a Big Mac or some really bad crap like it and It really is really good! Seems like they encourage overeating which I refuse to participate in since the last time they got me outta my Barcalounger with a forklift. HAHAHAHA Just kiddin.......................

I'm a Pepperjax fan! They do a damn good Philly. Fries are always hot and fresh. Limited menu, but who cares. A philly and fries are why you come here.

Im not gonna complain about how healthy the food is because its pointless. The taste is awesome and thats all that matters. Its always fresh and fast. I love the service and the employees are always nice. They have multiple items to eat including a salad for the "health freaks". Im always satisfied after eating at ANY Pepper Jax. I would have to say that this business is a SUCCESS!

Boy I will have to concur with the non healthy part, wife took me here for lunch, man was it awesome, great food, but after a year out of a heart issue I could tell things in my body was not liking it, but hey that is what we live for anyway.

Like C.B. said "quick casual." You get to watch them make your food, so don't complain if they make it wrong, you should've stopped them when they were making it. (I saw someone complain about their philly made wrong when I was there). I wasn't man enough to finish my philly and my side of fries and would definitely recommend splitting the fries with a friend or loved one. The food is good and they serve beer so you can wash it all down afterwards. It's a taste of the city of brotherly love without the crime and pollution. Okay, not really but it still tastes delicious, go enjoy yourself.

Pepperjax is part of the new "quick casual" wave of restaurants that seems to be taking over the world. They started in Omaha, as far as I can tell, but looks like they are branching out elsewhere. The original Pepperjax near 132nd and Center is the best, but we live near 120th and Blondo, and theirs is not far off. The philly's are solid - as are the wraps, rice bowls and salads. Portion sizes are pretty substantial, most people i know split fries with someone else. Stick with the steak, it's far superior to the chicken in my experience.

These guys make awesome cheese steak sandwiches. Now, if you're from Philly maybe they aren't authentic, but they are really good. Their menu is a bit limited, Phillies, wraps, rice bowls, and salads, but maybe when you do sandwiches as well as they do you don't need a big menu. I do wish they had a better selection of sides though.

  • A. J.

Eat enough of them, and they will kill you, but at least you will die happy. One thing no one will accuse pepperjax of is being healthy. Lots of meat, cheese, a bit heavy on the salt for the fries, really heavy on the grease, but if you want a great steak sandwich, you can't go wrong. Its basically a quick tasty meal, for a reasonable price, as long as you don't worry about what its doing to your health.

They crank out a good Philly cheesesteak. I've yet to figure out whats going on with that salad dressing/condiment bar. Quick and reasonably priced = full belly.

I went to this PepperJax last week with some co-workers and it was awesome. I've been to the PepperJax in Council Bluffs before, but this was about the third time coming to this location. I walked in, waited in line for a few minutes, and then the gentlemen asked me what I wanted. He was really nice and inviting. I got the Philly Steak Gunnar Fireball, which is double meat and cooked in jalapeno juice. The sandwich was about $10 but was awesome. Double meat is an extra $3.80, well worth it in my opinion. I also grabbed an order of fries. This time the fries didn't feel like they were cooked enough. They were a tad soggy and not super appetizing. I should have taken them back and asked for a fresh batch but was too hungry to wait. All in all, it was a good experience minus the fries. I am definitely going to go back again for some double meet philly steaks!

We visited this location on a Tuesday afternoon at about 2:30. Every table in the place was dirty and the staff acted like they were doing us a favor by waiting on us. We were really disappointed because Pepper Jacks is usually one of our favorites.

Everyone is talking about the sandwich, but the steak rice bowl is where it's at!! So good! There's enough for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow.
