Since Joe took over, the ODBG has only gotten better. The food is amazing, best in Dundee in my fair opinion when it comes to bar food, the service is great and for an after work or after school drink its a great place to relax. It's under renovation right now, they're expanding the main bar and raising the ceiling - much more spacious. It's definitely taken a great turn and I would recommend free pool from 4-7 M-F and a pitcher of beer with a taco (Yum!).

-The majority of the staff is ALWAYS polite and attentive even when they are busy -even when it's busy it doesn't feel crowded -great prices -neighborhood atmosphere with a wide demographic of customers makes it unique in the best way possible

The team at the Old Dundee is great. They are dive bar with a touch of class. The bar itself is huge, you would not expect this driving by on dodge st. They were gracious enough to sponsor our Ultimate Frisbee leagues jerseys and we brought about 50 people in with room to spare. The $5 wing special was spot on and the $1.50 hams washed them down like butter. Capped it off with some free pool and a round of darts.

Can't go wrong with cheap beer, straight shots, and greasy hot wings! The Old Dundee is actually more like two bars in one. The upper portion is a sports bar: a well-lit space with several TVs, pool tables, dart boards, and a full bar. The lower level bar (just a couple of steps down) seems to be a darker, more mellow area. There are separate sound systems in each, so patrons on one side can be gettin' jiggy wit the latest pop songs while those below are rockin' out to some heavier tunes. Or whatever; that's just how it seemed to work out when I was here. There are several beers available on tap here, and when I visited they were running a special on cans of Hamm's for $2. An order of hot wings for late night munchies really hit the spot. Fun place!

This bar was surprisingly quite spacious and offered a lot of variety between food and beverage. There are a lot of items for entertainment such as pool, darts and Foosball. I was disappointed to learn the facility has two jukeboxes so my music I was paying for ended up playing in the lower part of the bar. The food was quite tasty and came out very quickly. The service at the beginning of the night was lovely and fast. As the crowd grew, after 10pm, the efficiency of getting a drink or doing anything that required interaction with the staff was challenging. The booth near the pool table had some issues and would dislodge anytime anyone wanted to sit down or get up and that was embarassing and also awkward. Next time for me, I am going to plan on being in and out by 1030pm at the latest. I am excited to go back though because I had a good time.

The Old Dundee is a perfectly all right place to hang out with some friends in Dundee. The drinks are reasonably priced. Depending on the night/season/moon cycle/whatever, the atmosphere varies from calm and intimate to a rowdy and obnoxious (the place tends to get overrun by college coeds fairly often). It's too bad the adjacent movie theater is still "closed for remodeling" (will it ever reopen?!?), as grabbing a drink at the Old Dundee pre/post movie was always fun. For whatever reason, I usually end up at the lower level bar when I visit. It's probably to chat up the familiar neighborhood faces from the good ol' 49'r days which have more or less been adopted by the Old Dundee as their new home. While not quite a dive and definitely nowhere near a trendy lounge, the Old Dundee is one of those places that makes you happy to know still exists. Hopefully it won't suffer the same fate as the beloved 9'r anytime soon.

Parts of this bar are newly remodeled and it's looking pretty spiffy these days. The kitchen in recent years has improved quite a bit, though I always enjoyed it well enough. On Tuesday's they have about a pound and a half of wings for $5, which is a heck of a deal. They are pretty good wings also. Drinks do not come weak and the service is good. There are pool tables here so it can get a bit overly loud at times, but that is my only issue with the place. Definitely a good happy hour/dinner stop.

On the horseshoe side the staff is friendly enough, but being over 40 I feel like I'm just too goddamned old for place.

I'm actually a fan of the Old Dundee, only having been here once. The staff had excellent service but subpar beer pouring in my opinion. Both my beers had almost no head (and I ordered a porter!). They have a pretty decent selection of stuff on tap, and a good selection of whiskey. We ordered some tacos which were pretty good size, obviously not authentic, but they did the job after having several drinks. They did take a while to make their way to our table though. Good atmosphere, beautiful old building, I would definitely come back here with some buddies.

Loved this place! The food is not the typical bar fare - it's very flavorful and not at all greasy. The staff is friendly and it was just a great bar.

It's hard not to give them a higher rating, I really want to, but I just can't. The location is great (especially with the 49'er competition being eliminated), but the bar is simply not taking advantage. Let me start off with the pros. The food is badass. I've had half of the menu by now (try their pulled pork sandwich with the pig sauce!) - I have never been disappointed by the food. Weekday prices aren't too bad for some of the lower-end beers. There are pool tables, darts, foosball, jukebox, ATM, etc. There are 2 bartenders that have stuck out and seemed very friendly and helpful. That's.... about it, really. The cons? The crowd is wishy-washy. Sometimes you'll meet some cool people (usually in the downstairs bar, which is mostly the old 49er crowd). Sometimes you'll meet complete pricks. The jukebox is too quiet, the pool tables really, really suck (awful felt, jacked up pockets, horrible pool cues) , the darts are tucked away in the back and turned off half the time. As awesome as some of the staff is, some of the staff is also completely inattentive - and even flat-out rude. So bad to the point that I simply won't hang out there any longer. Also, the weekend prices are so jacked up that I'm surprised they have as many people in there during the weekend. All in all, if you don't have a bad experience here, you probably still won't have a memorable one - unless you're there during a good tender's shift, or just grabbing a quick bite to eat.

Previously awful, the Old Dundee has definitely improved over the last year or so. New management, ongoing renovations, nicer bartenders, less drug abuse amongst the staff, etc, have all contributed to a nicer atmosphere. If you've only been here back in the pre-2011 era, you might want to give it another shot. Though not the best clientele, the place has definitely stepped everything else up enough to be a suitable hangout. UPDATE: After ordering soft-shell tacos on four different occasions and being served fried tacos, this place is starting to piss me off again. It's like they don't even read you ticket before they make your food. If you're planning on eating, just go someplace else. If you want to drink some cheap, crappy beer, then it's okay, I guess. This place is totally unreliable, so I have a hard time recommending it.

We tried to support this place. We used to go to this location when it really was the "old" Dundee Dell. When the new owners took over the service went WAY downhill and the food was gross. I was also surprised to see that the decided to stay smoking when the ban took effect so I think they need to change their name to just "Old Dundee Bar" and remove the grill since they can no longer serve food.

Another bar always come to with friends, with one floor with a bar plus pool tables and such, then down one level is a second bar with some tvs. You can order food at this part of the bar, I tried their fried pickles, just not my thing. Drinks are reasonably priced plus with the buy one get one shots, cant go wrong with those! Bartenders are awesome and friendly!

OLD REVIEW (5 stars) A bar attached to an independent movie theatre...awesome. Down-to-earth crowd that can consist of totally different people from night to night. Lots of tunes on the jukebox, and plenty of seating to chat with your friends over a beer. This bar holds a special place in my heart. NEW REVIEW (3 stars) As you can see, I used to love this place. But now I refuse to go because instead of adopting the smoking ban, they closed their kitchen and fired their wait staff. That's just incomprehensibly stupid to me. Their burgers were awesome, too.

Fairly cheep, but the bar tenders aren't very friendly and the service is poor.

Okay, I don't know the mighty history of this place, but as a place to get some after-work suds, it was okay. What really made the place for me is the historic plaque outside that tells about the Japanese bomb balloon that detonated over the adjacent intersection in 1945, hurting no one, the news of which was apparently successfully supressed outside of Omaha.
