5 stars for food, 2 stars for service. The only reason I rounded up to 4 stars is because I can see myself coming here again. Went here for lunch with my husband and he ordered their Kung Pao which he said was really good. I ordered off the Dim Sum menu and everything was fantastic except the Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaves (I like them better at Grand Fortune). Ok so here's the chunk of the review. Their service is SLOOOOOOW beyond slow. We sat down and within 3 minutes they brought out water, we said we were ready to order and the guy (who I don't think spoke English) signaled "1 minute" and walked away. It took another 10 minutes for someone to come and take our order, very annoying! Then my husband's dish came out about 15 minutes later, then my dim sum about 5 minutes after that. No biggie, but here's what annoyed me. I think they totally forgot one of my dim sum items and when I asked our server about it, she said it was coming out "soon". Then 5 minutes later, we just asked for it in a to go box and suddenly it was out like bam! They never stopped by to check up on us after the food was dropped off, we always had to stop them if we needed anything. They never filled our waters up and we had empty glasses for half of our meal. Overall, good food, terrible service and we agreed we would ONLY do take out from now on.

I had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner here with my father. The service was polite and prompt, and the food was fresh, well presented, and tasty, almost a little plain - but I don't know enough about the ethnic regions of China to know about authenticity. We had steamed dumplings and hot and sour soup for the opener, then for the main course I ordered the Ma-Po Tofu off the traditional Chinese menu, along with a vegetable dish that had mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and baby bok choy. My father ordered a chicken dish, don't remember which one. All was good. What would I change? The lighting. Too bright! Maybe a little background music. Other than that (and the distance from Dundee), I'll return at some point.

The dim sum at Gold Mountain is a perfectly passable approximation for someone in need of their Cantonese yum cha fix. These dishes best resemble those found in any Chinatown restaurant: shrimp dumplings, bean curd roll, and the turnip cake. The rice noodle roll with beef, a favorite of mine, was disappointing. Too much noodle, too little filling, and very bland. The deep fried taro dumpling was dense and tough, without the signature flaky "nest" like coating. And while the flavor of the pork and shrimp dumpling was spot on, the overgrown meatball size was disconcerting. The World Herald reviewer was critical of desserts appearing too early. But this is typical of many dim sum restaurants - dishes come as they are made. Bottom line: Is this good dim sum by Hong Kong standards? Definitely not. Is this good by San Francisco standards? No. Is this the best that Omaha has to offer? Probably.

I long ago gave up looking for good Chinese food in Omaha. But we recently stumbled upon the Gold Mountain while moving into the neighborhood. Wow! Our first clue that we found a hidden gem was the fact that most of the other diners were of Asian decent. And the food they were eating all looked at amazing. Since were were exhausted from moving all day we ordered from the "Regular" menu only on our first visit. The food was amazing. The service was very good. The dining room is a little small and it was quite loud since most of the table were full. But everything else easily made up for these small distractions. I am now on a mission to explore their Chinese & Dim Sum menus. But when we are in a hurry and want quick American Chinese take out, we won't go anywhere but the Gold Mountain.

This is the best dim sum you will find in the Midwest. I go there often, and the place is a treasure. The service might not be snappy, but everything is made fresh, and you will be hard pressed to find more authentic Chinese food within a day's drive. The husband & wife owners are from Shanghai, and they know their craft. Try the congee, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, Singapore noodles, bbq pork buns, sesame balls, and all of the dumplings. The last bonus is the price -- very affordable.

Wow! Good dim sum by San Francisco standards! We are thrilled to find this place as recommended by Dave H. and Sarah W. Felt like we were crashing a traditional Chinese family dinner custom on Sunday night, but the food would be cold by the time we got it home, so dine in we did. Worth the wait for a table in this small family restaurant. About the dim sum, great sesame balls and pork buns. Shrimp in seaweed was okay. Broccoli in oyster sauce and beef noodle with black bean sauce all very good. Will be sure to try some dumplings and the taro bees nest next time. There is only so much two people can eat :) I don't know if I will ever get used to finding good food in strip malls...but I am learning.

I am hesitant to review my favorite hidden restaurant in fear that I will have to wait for a table, but the world needs to know how amazing this place is. It is rare that I will trek 30 minutes for a meal, but I seem to warm up the car for this place about once a week lately. Here is the scoop..Gold Mountain is a bit like the name sounds. Family run asian. In a strip mall, sparse decorations, one square dining area crammed with tables. But the food! The food is amazing. They serve traditional Chinese dim sum, and could comptete with the finest in SF and beyond. Dim Sum is on weekends only and also the only time I go. The selection is vast, quite a bit more than just dumplings. No carts around this place, I don't think space allows. You order off a check sheet. They also serve pho, which I have not yet tried here but will soon.

Wonderful, wonderful food. Be sure to ask for the Chinese menu and dim sum menu when you go, cause you will miss some items that are on them that are not on the "normal" menu. Also check out the white board, it is there Vietnamese items, really awesome soups going on! Great service, you really feel welcome there. Sure it is in a strip mall, and the decor is not great, but that is easily overlooked. Beware, this place is closed till 5pm on Mondays! So no lunch during that time. Edit- forgot to add they do have dim sum all the time now, I went for lunch on a Wednesday and got dim sum, and try the Singapore Style Fried Rice Noodles they are sublime.

I go for Dim Sum almost every Sunday. The Dim Sum is delicious. I love the fried shrimp balls and turnip cakes. We are always treated very nice and the service is excellent. I recommend this to anyone, new to Dim Sum or a Dim Sum elitist. We moved here from Chicago and this is the closest we found to the flavors of China town in Omaha.

This is very good if you love Cantonese style Chinese food. If you expect spicy Szechuan style food, you might be disappointed.

  • Shradha G.

Had high expectations that were not met. We ordered dim sum: Pork Buns, Singapore noodles, and Roast Duck with white rice. Everything was sub-par so i'm not sure why this place got rave reviews. The buns were decent. The noodles were just not flavorful at all. I think Ramen noodles have more going for them. Roast duck was good but lots of bone and really bland. It was better with some Sriracha sauce. No alcohol either which was kind of a bummer. Most likely won't be going back.

Very good food, fast and friendly service and always a pleasure to eat at. Biggest downfall of the place is that it is small (maybe 10-11 tables). Late in the afternoon the sun beats in the restaurant and it does get a little warm in there, but no doubt the food, quality and quantity is all great.

I never would have thought that I would find dim sum while visiting my parents in Omaha. NEVER. But once I saw the review from Marisa H. complaining about the service I knew I had to give this place a try. I live in Manhattan and was recently in Hong Kong, and though I'm not a Dim Sum expert the one thing I've found is that good dim sum usually comes with rude service. The broccoli in oyster sauce was delicious, BBQ pork buns were v. tasty, the appearance of the egg custard buns scared my father at first but once I convinced him to take a bite he was a believer, on and shrimp balls had great texture and flavor too. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town. Oh and as for the service? I thought it was fine. They weren't chatty but water and tea were kept full, and at the end of the meal when we had a significant portion of one plate left over the waiter looked sad and asked 'did you not enjoy this one'. What? of course we enjoyed it, we just wanted to bring that one home. Nice to see them take pride in their food, they should.

I went here after finding it on Yelp, being from SW Michigan we really don't have any authentic Chinese Restaurants, just cheap buffets. When I walked into this place I *knew* it was the real deal. The food was amazingly fresh, hot, and it melted in my mouth! Make sure you check out their Dim Sum menu, the Deep Fried Seaweed Shrimp Roll is pretty spectacular! I also ordered the Pork Ear and Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce. Both were also exceptional, but I came to the conclusion I'm not a fan of Pork Ear. But it's just a personal preference. We also ordered their lunch special of General Tso's Chicken from their American Chinese menu, the sauce was gooey and thick ! mmm! It was perfectly balanced in taste. Oh and how can I forget! Crab Rangoons......amazing! Best ones I've ever had in my mouth. Wow it was great! All in all, 5/5 stars! This place rocks, it's easy to get to, amble parking, and a really really nice staff! I will be sure to visit this place next time I'm in Omaha, would even consider moving here just so I can eat there!

Yeah, this place rocks. We brought in a huge party of 12 into this small family run restaurant so I won't review the service, but the food was excellent. We're gringos and we got the gringo menu. All the other patrons were Asian and while I have no idea what they eating, it looked authentic-ish! The restaurant was packed on a Monday night. Prices were moderate to low. We'll definitely be back.

vietnamese. american chinese dishes. traditional chinese and dim sum all under one roof. their pho is good (at least for omaha). there is a bit of a language barrier, but the food is good, so just try something different. also, the last time i was there, they had great toothpicks. so there's that.

3.5 stars - I came back again, hoping to have the steamed rice noodles rolls with shrimp that I've been missing so much. They were out of those, along with about a third of the menu, at least. They had a number of items marked out, but we also asked for items that weren't crossed out and yet, they didn't have those either (one was the chinese broccoli with oyster sauce). We settled on shrimp dumplings, steamed BBQ pork buns, bok choi (not on the menu, but we asked for a vegetable to replace the broccoli we had originally ordered), sesame rolls, and "sticky rice with chicken in lotus leaf." All were good, although I'm not sure I'd order the last item again. The BBQ pork bun was one of the best I've had though and the sesame rolls were definitely a step up from the last time I ate here. I just wish they'd have more of their options available! But, I've only been here on week nights and dim sum is more of a weekend brunch food, so maybe on weekends it would be better? Or not.

Great stuff. Large menu, plus a good-sized list of dim sum items. And the best part if they serve dim sum all day (and night) instead of just at lunch. The down side if you don't get to pick stuff off of carts as they roll by, but I don't know that there's anywhere in Omaha that does that. Have to go to a real Chinatown to get that. But these dim sum dishes are still served in the same types of dishes (or metal steamers, as the case may be). The place is in a strip mall and wouldn't be large enough to accommodate those carts anyway. The food was all very good and very reasonable. We ordered too many things to list, but sampled a good array of both menu items and dim sum. Service was very friendly and as we were there up to (and past closing) we spoke with who I would guess was the owner before leaving, who was very friendly and genuinely interested in what we thought about the food. Having grown up in LA with frequent visits to Chinatown, I would vouch for Gold Mountain as the next best thing.

The food was good, but we were ignored, our dim sum was never brought out & then we had to fight to get it off of our bill. Nothing ordered was brought out together for a table of 3. We had to continuously ask for drinks, etc. Will not return, based solely on how we were treated, too bad. I was really excited to try this place. I probably would have liked it better but will not tolerate being mistreated when I am paying for a meal.

One of the top 2 Chinese restaurants here. I have had always great service here, even on the busy weekend mornings. If you want authentic and delicious Chinese restaurant in West Omaha, look no further. We have such limited choices in Omaha, but this will do. They even have Macau style egg tarts on the weekends, however limited to the earlier hours. So many great choices check out the pictures and decide from that.

We were in-town for a night and yelp took me to this authentic place. It's good and authentic! Good service and good prices as we are from KC with good authentic Chinese as well! Gotta go check it out!

Awful!! First off it took over an hour to get our good delivered and we live less than a mile away. When we finally got our food it was cold and wasn't worth the wait. I got Mongolian Beef and the beef was like chewing leather and had almost no sauce. Plus there was so many onions I couldn't even find any beef. My husband got Mongolian Chicken and had the same issues. The Crab Rangoon and it was so dry that when you pulled it part the filling crumbed out. I have never been so disappointed with Chinese food.

Being new to town, I am on a mission to identify some favorites to get in the "rotation". Gold Mountain was one of my first stops since it's near the house and I couldn't believe I could find dim sum in the area. I won't go into the typical "west coast dim sum snob routine" but I have to say that this restaurant is a little lacking overall. I started off with the chicken feet. For just that dish, these were some of the best I have had anywhere or made myself. VERY tender and plumb; the bones disposed easily, the flavor was PERFECT and there was plenty of meat. Next was the steamed pork and shrimp dumpling. Though the dumpling fell apart a bit too much for my liking, the overall taste and quality of the 4 piece dumpling was very good and I would have it again. After this, the meal tailed off quickly. I finished with the deep fried shrimp ball (just average - nothing good or bad) and the spare ribs with black beans sauce (unfortunately missing the sauce and the dish just wasn't good overall). I did enjoy the ambiance and the staff was very pleasant. I WILL be going back because the dim sum menu is extensive enough to try again. Also, the regular menu looked nice enough to give it a shot. I hope to increase my rating with future visits.

This place has a pretty extensive dim sum menu. They were out of a few items when we there on a Saturday night but it wasn't a big deal as there were so many other items to choose from. The place was pretty busy and service was fine. We ordered a variety of dim sum items including steamed pork dumplings, chicken feet, and sesame balls. We didn't venture outside our usual dishes and ordered some beef and broccoli general tso chicken. Entrees were good but nothing special. The dim sum is why we'll return again. I would say probably some of the best dim sum I've had since living in NY. Don't let the fact that the place is small and in a strip mall deter you, they have some great food and service! They don't service alcohol but they may or may not be BYOB;)

Very small quaint dinning area. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The best Orange Chicken and Pan Fried Dumplings I have eaten anywhere. The Egg Drop soup and Shrimp Egg Fu Yung were also very good. It was a very pleasant dinning experience and I highly recommend the place.

I've been here numerous times and normally their service is decent but this past weekend I went with my family and the service was horrible. We waited for a half hour before we even got a single dish and it wasn't even busy. Other people that came after us got their food well before us (the same dishes we had ordered). We asked the wait staff about it and all they did was say sorry. I guess "first come, first serve" doesn't mean anything to them. Anyways, the dimsum is decent, but the service was far from great.

Best dim sum spot in Omaha.. this is coming from a cantonese girl. Yeah that's right LOL. Trust me! coz I can order all the dim sum dishes w/o the menu and in cantonese! Wheeeeeeeeeee! Yay for dimsum skills. Although not the best I've ever had dim sum at (since I have been to Hong Kong and had dim sum there) but it's pretty good for Omaha. Definitely hits the spot and has the right flavors, textures, and authenticity. I'm a fan.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Omaha! Why? Because they actually serve authentic traditional Chinese foods and the chef is related to legendary chef "Young can cook" which mean he can also cook :) How do I know this? There is a picture of them on the wall as you walk in the restaurant. First of, if you want to know what Chinese foods actually taste like you need to select choices from the "traditional Chinese foods." For example, roasted duck, pork belly with pickles, deep fried tofu stuffed with shrimps, egg & corn soup, and flounder with scallions in delicious fish broth. I highly recommending you to be adventurous and try some of the foods they serve here. Second, have you ever try dim sum here on the weekend? It is wonderful. Try shrimp/pork dumpling (suimai), short ribs, egg tart, custard buns and bbq pork buns. OMG!!! Lastly, try ordering one of Jane's angle fruit cake. She makes awesome cakes for birthday and special occasions. Worry about sugary cake? Jane's cakes are so delightful, 1/2 the sugar amount and top with sweet light cream and fruits. I have been buying cakes from her for years. You will be very surprised!

This is a hard review, especially after reading what some others have experienced because some of those reviews contain things that mine would. I'm highly surprised that Sean's review didn't get a response from the owner on here. Note to business owners: IF YOU GET A BAD REVIEW YOU SHOULD REACH OUT TO THAT REVIEWER. Obviously they had a chance to resolve an issue but didn't even bother. I have a feeling this place used to be better because people have talked to me about it for years. It wasn't until recently that I got around to visiting. I think the times we thought about visiting we didn't go because there was no parking. This time we specifically went earlier (5pm) for dinner to beat the crowd. I'm glad we did because the parking is terrible and the dining room is about the size of mine at home. The food: In Omaha it is next to impossible to find soup dishes. I haven't had authentic Vietnamese or Cantonese anywhere in town. The variety they offer and portion size for the price is bar none FIVE STARS. However, the cook was a little off, especially with the soup taste. I've never had it with a taste of curry before, while not bad, it made me think Indian. The dumplings were great, fried rice was good, egg rolls very authentic and fresh. The service: Initially was terrible. There were two tables taken with customers when we arrived. Once we figured it out it was "seat yourself" we weren't given menus, water, or even greeted for several minutes. I finally went to the register where several workers were talking and standing around and asked if we could have menus. Soon, the entry way was packed with people for carry out orders and the workers seemed preoccupied with getting them accommodated. Several more minutes later we were finally greeted. Service from here on was good, but had I not been so excited for soup we would have walked out--the voice of reason with me said for us to stay. I might be back but it will never be during a busy time of day/evening because I can only imagine how packed that place could be and what a cluster "you know what" it would be.

I used to come here all the time ever since they have introduced Vietnamese noodle soup Pho. And it has been tasteful until now. Noodle was cooked so much it was broken in the soup. There weren't noodle it was just blah and broth was not enough of amount in the bowl so pho became the party of flour. And there weren't rare beef not even a small amount of beef. It was just too disappointing! Also we ordered turnip cake and it was too mushy and it was almost gross. Shumai was good still. Hot tea was not hot and wasn't fresh. Overall, I must stop going there because it is too disappointing!

I didn't know anything about this place, but saw that it had some great reviews and I only live about 5 minutes away, so a friend and I decided to check it out. I was a little iffy once we walked in. It's definitely not a fancy place. They do have a pretty extensive menu and I didn't adventure out much on it. The service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the food was very good, too. I'm excited to go back and try more.

It wasn't that busy, but service was slow and disorganized. Our appetizer came after our main courses. They forgot one of our appetizers then tried to charge us for it. Main courses were mediocre. Dim sum was ok. I recommend only ordering off the dim sum menu, don't bother with anything else.

I've had great Chinese around the globe and was lamenting the fact that I couldn't find a decent place upon moving to Omaha. A friend suggested Gold Mountain saying, "it rivals dim sum at any restaurant in NYC and San Francisco." My friend was right! Sublime Peking Duck. Sumptuously sweet and savory roast pork. I crave their Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Singapore noodles are also divine. I find their dumplings, won-tons, buns, etc to be less successful. Too doughy and tough for my palette. But even with this shortcoming, Gold mountain is the gold standard for Chinese food in Omaha!

After reading the Yelpers on this one, I will have to ask myself, "Do these Yelpers care about the cleanliness of the place or the service?" Well yes a few did sound off! I should have listened. To start, you couldn't understand the 1st waitress who sat us at a very sticky table! Everything was sticky. The table top was a poorly cut piece of Plexiglas with very sharp edges that was cut too large for the tabletop. This made it a very EDGY situation each time you tried to reach across the table! Several times we thought we had cut ourselves. Then make sure you TELL them what menu you are ordering off of! Otherwise you get it from the wrong menu. This happens when you have a dictionary sized menu. The tea was very weak. Don't ask for lemon because you will get a lime instead. Now for the food. The egg rolls and Crab Rangoon are the typical Sysco brand ones you get in most places in Omaha. Nothing special there. Their hot mustard wasn't fresh. It looked to be several weeks old. Tasted worse! The Sweet n Sour sauce looked as if the same spoon had been there all week if not all year! And based on the stickiness of the container, it hadn't been wiped off from the last use. Plain old Kikkoman on the table for soy sauce. And Kikkoman is way too salty for my taste! The main dish was lacking in sauce and had way too much garlic and ginger in it. The rice is just sticky white rice with a splash of soy on it. Not actually fried rice. At least it didn't have peas and carrots in! Had to ask several times for the 1st refill. They don't know how to show any respect to the customers and check on them. Terrible service. Everyone seems confused as what to do. When you ask for something from one person, a different person brings it out, while the person you asked just stands there and stares at you! Too weird! Like what did we do wrong? Come try to spend some money with you! Well never again! There are much better places in Omaha for REAL Chinese than this place!

I will be nitpicking if I say that this isn't a good Chinese restaurant. The quality and quantity are both impressive. This place is clean and neatly decorated. I see a picture of the owners with Martin Yan from "Yan Can Cook." That's quite a surprise :-) I read one Yelp comment stating that the owners are from Shanghai. If that's the case, I wonder why there were hardly ANY Shanghainese dishes or Northern Chinese dishes on the menu. Please tell me I don't need to drive out of state to find my favorite buns and dumplings and noodles...

  • Nick R.

Love this place. I go at least twice a week and am never disappointed. I've tried all of the Pho in town and this place is definitely my favorite and the fact that its about 2 minutes from my house makes it even better. I stick with the Pho (# 1 or # 2) and Dim Sum (Shrimp/Pork dumpling, pork dumpling, curried squid, etc). I've recently tried the Cantonese Noodles with Beef and they are amazing. Went there tonight and found myself saying in between bites that "this is so f'ing good". Go there and try different dishes, find the ones that you love, and keep coming back. As stated by many, the service here is really bad. Everything comes out when its ready and one of the male waiters is very confused ALL of the time. If you're interested in great service and mediocre food, this place is not for you. If you can tolerate the lousy service as a trade off for great dim sum and Pho then I'd try this place immediately. Great value, great food.

I'd say this place is a really good spot for dim sum in Omaha! Perhaps the only place! Regardless, it was a good experience here for me to get a temporary dim sum fix. It's not the best I've ever had and you can't compare it to other big city dim sum places, but it's as good as it gets for Omaha. The dishes come out piping fresh and hot.

Gold Mountain Gold Mountain Reminiscent of my days in Shanghai Your authentic Chinese dishes To my taste buds, you justify Grand Fortune used to be my Chinese choice and now I see that was dumb Because every day and every night You proudly serve dimsum!! Steamed pork dumpling, fried bean curd thread and lotus leaf wrapped rice bigger than my face Top that off with singapore noodles and radish cake and see my drool fly all over the place Although your mountain is quite small and waiting for dimsum can blow You know it's a good sign When the place is mostly filled with people that are yellow! I live downtown, gas prices suck But to eat authentic Chinese food in Omaha I'm happy to make the hike to Gold Mountain My very own dimsum Shangri-La

My mother, friend, and I decided we wanted dim sum for dinner so we came to new gold mountain. Service was extremely slow and disorganized. We asked for a dim sum menu and ended up getting one ourselves. After we marked the dim sum that we wanted, we were informed that most of it wasn't available after 3. The restaurant is very small and we were sitting up against the window. There was barely enough room to sit down. The food on the other hand was hit or miss. We got a total of 6 different dim sum dishes. The roast duck had no flavor and was mostly fat and bones. The bean curd roll was in a thick sauce that taste watered down. The pork dumplings and the BBQ pork buns were the only things that had any flavor and were actually really delicious.

  • Johnny Y.

Ordered the combination noodle soup. The soup was bland and devoid of flavor. No basil was given with the veggies. The veggies were also withered. Bean sprouts were rotten. I also had their dim sum here previously, but there are better competitors in town.

We went there for dim sum, and the employees were really nice and friendly. The food, however was just okay. The pork buns were lacking in the amount of meat. We and other customers were served what was advertised as a "bee's nest taro" but that turned out to be a spring roll with some taro in it. When we questioned it, we were told that each restaurant makes it differently. That may be, but as other customers were questioning it as well, I don't think they should have advertised it as something it wasn't. The pork and shrimp dumplings were good. The sticky rice in a lotus leaf was okay, but kinda bland. Overall, it was kind of a disappointment, which is sad because we were really looking for some good dim sum!

  • Linda A.

Just ok, as far as I am concerned. Dim sum was ok. The short ribs were TERRIBLE! There was absolutely no meat on those grissly pieces of bone. The shrimp dumplings were the best and the fried crab cakes were really good, though a little greasy. I had the pho which I just had a craving for. Disappointed that it wasnt served with any fresh basil. Ate in ... and I do think that I wouldnt do that again. Just not a very nice environment.

We have ordered take-out several times from Gold Mountain, and have been very satisfied every time. The portion sizes are big and quality is excellent. You can also eat in, and the dining room is fairly small, and everyone seems to be happy with the service and things seem to stay pretty busy. We've ordered many different things on the menu, from soup to noodles to the various meats and rices and all have been great!

I have only ate lunch here as carry out but it is fantastic. Always full and the price is right. Less than $7 total for all lunch specials that includes egg roll and soup.

Went to Gold Mountain for the second time this past Sunday & Ordered the Sing style Rice noodle dish & my partner ordered 4 Dim Sum plates. The Sing Rice Noodle dish was OK but not great by any means & the Dim Sum was about the same!! The big problem I had with the food was the AfterBurn that I experienced about an hour later! Thinking back to the first time I ate there, I remembered that I got indigestion then also. I think that the problem could likely be that the oil they use is never changed & or it's just a very poor grade?? Needless to say, twice BURNED, I wont be returning!! The decor in the place is also a 1 star thing!

Ordered delivery and they gave us the wrong dishes after waiting over an hour. When I called to let them know they said I could come pick up the right food even though it was their mistake. What we got was general tsao chicken. It was overly breaded chicken that had a greasy, soggy coating and the chicken itself was not good- dark meat and kind of chewy:( The hot and sour soup was just okay and the crab Rangoon was cold.

Wish I had known about this place earlier...it's legit! They even have their own chili oil so you can spice up your dumplings the correct way.... But however way you choose to enjoy them, this restaurant is traditional in every way.... And did I mention spicy? They know spicy!

I had shrimp with lobster sauce, my husband had chicken with vegetables. Both meals were watered down with little flavor and the dish was not served hot. That is not what someone would expect being the only customers there. Recently tried Dim Sum at another restaurant and loved it so I was looking forward to trying other kinds. I tried one that was BBQ, one that was steamed pork and some sort of dumpling Dim Sum. The prices are very reasonable for the serving size so you can afford to try so many. However, I was not impressed at all with the food, the dirty bathrooms or the band aids covering the corner of the tables. I have not had authentic Dim Sum so that may be why I am so critical. I just didn't care for anything they served. My regular place for Dim Sum is Hong Hing buffet, close to 90th and Fort. That must be the Americanized version that I prefer!

I was so excited to hear about this place...My Dim Dum experience has only been when I went to Vegas. The food was good and priced reasonable, but the service was HORRIBLE!!! It's a very small place, maybe 12-15 tables, but they are the most unorganized place I have ever seen. If I happen to be in the area I may stop again, but definetely won't go out of my way to give them my business~

Best Affordable Dim Sum in Omaha The place also has a really tasty roast duck noodle soup. You know the place is legit when the it is Chinese owned and operated, and 4/5of the customers there at any given time are Chinese. DL

Best Chinese takeout in NW O--and cheap! The restaurant is tiny, so if you come to dine-in, be prepared to wait. You know the food is good though when it's consistently packed to the brim though. Haven't had their dim sum yet--but all the Chinese food Ive had so far has been great--and it's also the cheapest I've seen anywhere in Omaha. You can be confident you won't go wrong with the food here.

In a kind of weird strip mall, you'd miss it if you were were looking for it. Pretty simple decor. Staff is friendly, and the place has an overall family-friendly vibe. I went with a friend, not really knowing what dim sim was really like. I ended up not really eating a lot of the dim sum, so my review is slightly off. I'll try to go back and update. So, the menu is divided into Vietnamese soups, Chinese-American food (so, the stuff you see at the more Americanized places), traditional Chinese food, and dim sum. We decided to skip the American stuff and go straight for the real deal, the Anthony Bourdain wannabes that we are. Unfortunately, two things worked against this place--by the time we were ready to order the server said that a number of things on the dim sum were sold out--notably beef dishes. Why does this matter? I have a shellfish allergy and a lot of the dim sum had fish in it. So, my dinner partner had a few dim sum dishes with shrimp (one that looked like eggrolls with shrimp in them and another with crab). She liked them, but they were a bit greasy. I opted for something from the traditional Chinese menu--the Happy Family tofu dish, with fried rice. It was okay. I wouldn't say it was the best ever--the sauce was heavy, almost seemed like gravy, and it was kind of the color of gravy, so that threw me off. After that, we opted for two of the dessert-y balls from the dim sum menu. One with sesame seeds on the outside and gooey-sesame stuff inside. Not so great. And, then we had something that had a yellow custard inside, I think it has eggs. Meh. I know that this is not an overly positive review, but I can't say it was the worst ever. Service was good, and the prices were decent. And the dim sim option (think tapas, but with Chinese food) allows you to try a bunch of little plates of things. I think I'd go back and try the stuff that was sold out--perhaps that's a sign that they're really dope?

I cannot believe I haven't reviewed NGM yet!! Couple things first... they have Chinese food, Traditional Chinese food, and dim sum which leaves something for everyone. The Dim Sum... ohhh the Dim Sum! Being from the bay area and having tasted many Dim Sum items and this place stacks up. Fried shrimp balls are tasty, the imperial shrimp are good, BBQ Pork bun holds it's own, and for those wanting to try something a little different there is a fried turnip cake (nom). k let's talk Pho. I am a lover of Pho so much that I have it about once a week and prefer it to bath water when taking an after work soak. I even found an app for my phone that finds Pho and only Pho based off my location (Ipho). The Pho broth here is perfect in my opinion... not too hard on the anise. Whether combination or red beef it is simply Phoking delicious! Worthy of mention is the Mapo Doufo or Mapo Tofu. Although no pork in this one their sauce is deep and rich with many slices of red chili clinging onto what I would call a perfectly fluffy tofu. Not sure of names but all noodle dishes I have ordered were eaten clean off the plate so another win. I have yet to try much from the white people side of the... sorry American Chinese side of the menu but not sure that's going to happen any time soon. Service, price, taste, and the fact that Dim Sum is every day makes this a favorite spot of mine and a place I will fully support as often as I can.

If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in Omaha, this restaurant is a nice option. After spending years in Asia, I've resigned myself to the Chinese-American concoctions served in area restaurants to satisfy my cravings. We had dinner at Gold Mountain a couple of weeks ago. When we walked into a restaurant filled with Chinese speaking customers, we took that as a good sign. We started with an order of the whole fish in sauce. Although the fish eggs were tough (they should be soft little jewels of delicious), the fish itself was delightful and the sauce was divine. The Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce was very good. I also appreciate that you can add a couple of items from the dim sum menu to round out your dinner selection. Gold Mountain is a nice dining choice because it can satisfy a nice cross section of Chinese food lovers - whether you want your shrimp with the heads left on or sweet and sour chicken, you can find it here.

The food was delicious! I went with my husband and a friend who were more than excited to try some adventurous foods. We started with steamed pork buns (very yummy) and then moved on to the pig ears. They had a really great flavor but the cartilage was a little hard for me to swallow. After a few bites I decide to wait for the rest of our food to indulge but my husband cleaned the plate. Crispy duck, broccoli in fish sauce, noodles with beef(so good) and chicken & sticky rice in a lotus leaf. The latter was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in a Chinese restaurant and I can't wait to go back for more. The service Is lacking so I can't give the experience five stars but I will still be going back for more!

I was craving some cheap, tasty dim sum and New Gold Mountain didn't disappoint! I loved their cha siu bao. They were like delicious little pillows of heaven. The steamed rice noodles with beef was also very tasty. The turnip cakes were good, but a little greasy. I was disappointed that they didn't have the taro puffs available. The atmosphere was friendly and warm. The restaurant was cozy that had a family style atmosphere, but not too crowded where you felt like you were part of some randoms' conversation. I will definitely be back!

It is always a good sign to see Chinese people eating in a Chinese Restaurant. Then to my surprise I see some authentic dishes on the menu. After ordering a few dishes and dim sum....the food was RUBBISH!! Nothing authentic except the name of the dish. I may be bias since I have relocated to Omaha from San Francisco (one of the top 5 cities for Chinese food in North America). 2-stars cause the service was A+ (except the older lady who gave us the wrong dish and then charged us for it, she would also not let me sub Chinese Broccoli instead of American broccoli). Heaven forbid I want a Chinese vegetable in a Chinese restaurant. Will not be eating here EVER again.

We ordered delivery one night and it took them 2.5 hours to deliver our food. I called twice during those 2.5 hours and each time was told our food was on the way. The 2nd time, I told them I wanted to cancel the order and they said I could not because it was almost there. When we finally got our food (AFTER TWO AND A HALF HOURS) it was cold and soggy. This was a terrible experience and they have terrible customer service. I will never ever ever eat here again. Like ever.

"Dim sum in Omaha? Are you shitting me?" --was my response when my friend told me he had found a place with good dim sum here in Omaha. I Couldn't believe it, so I had to go and try it and the verdict is, it's the real deal. Although it's not your typical Chinese dim sum place; where the waiters/service are rude and they're frantically pushing around carts, this place will have to do. The waitresses are actually quite nice and instead of grabbing food from a rolling cart, you have to order it from a menu that has items ranging from $2.40-$6.00! not too bad. Don't worry, there was no tingling of the tongue or light-headedness after the meal, so, if my taste buds don't fail me, i don't think they use MSG! I will definitely have to try some of their other things off the "dim sum menu" next time I go.

The first visit we liked it very much. A little pricey ordering from the various menus to construct a Chinese lunch to satisfy the whole table, but worth it for the variety and authentic flavors in a town with no authentic Chinese to speak of. The second trip? meh, not so much. Not very good and very inconsistent with the food we had gotten just two weeks prior. Your experience may be different, but considering how far a drive this is for us, we have no reason to ever go back.

So tasty. Moving to omaha, I thought that there might be a shortage of realll chinese food. When I looked up dimsum on yelp--i was surprised to see that a restaurant that served dimsum existed! I fully enjoyed my meal with my husband. Can you believe you can get dimsum on a weekday?! [!] You can't even do that in orlando! We had the singapore noodles, bbq pork bun, black bean spareribs, turnip cake, chinese broccoli, shrimp dumpling, and pork dumpling (xiao longbao). All of it was super tasty. I'm not sure if all of them were made on-site (some may have been frozen previously)--but it was still REALLY good. Yay for legit dimsum in omaha, NE!!! I took pictures so that all my friends have proof. ps: there were plenty of people there, and many calling for take-out. Clearly, others have discovered this great little chinese/vietnamese restaurant. So...2 months later after we moved here, I realized that there are other dimsum restaurants! [thanks to other yelp reviewers!]. We went to silk rd today after church and it was really really good. For that reason, so that I can tell myself I'm a legit reviewer, I lowered this rating to 4 stars. Mostly--because i thought there would be NO chinese food in omaha...and apparently, there is! yay for competition! New Gold mountain is still nearer to us, so we may not completely abandon it. Still tasty.

Really great food. I have eaten in restaurants in Chinatown in San Fran and this is pretty darn close to those. The staff is friendly and the place is pretty clean. The food comes out quickly and piping hot. My number way to know if a restaurant is good is to see if people from the same origins as the restaurant patron it. Usually if they feel it is good, it probably is. I would say that 75% of the people in the restaurant were of Asian heritage. And they would be right!!! My only dislikes were the fact that the place is way too small so if you have to wait, it may be awhile. The only other is the folding table that they have, I am kind of a clean freak so the first time I ate there we were seated in one of the table that are rounded but then fold up to make a smaller square table. Where the folds are, is full of old food. That was a huge turn off for me otherwise I would have given them 5 stars.

I grew up in NYC, and dim sum is my comfort food. The only thing that could make this feel more like home is if the steaming hot baskets were pushed among the tables on carts. Whenever it's my turn to treat for lunch, dim sum at Gold Mountain is my choice. Not only is it inexpensive and tasty, but I nearly invariably get to introduce one of my friends to a cuisine they've never tried.

Wow, I proved myself wrong today... pay no attention to my previous three-star review when it comes to Dim Sum! First of all, I wouldn't recommend it as a 'quick meal', because this is something to be savored and this place gets busy for lunch. Next time we go it'll be for dinner. Regardless, always remember you ASK FOR the Dim Sum menu and check out the daily specials board. We ordered spicy noodle soup (shared between 2 with plenty to spare), hot and sour soup, beef noodles, shrimp and pork dumplings (2 orders of each), bbq pork rolls (also 2), sesame balls and red bean cakes. Obviously we were way out of our league by ordering 'based on price', it became almost ridiculous as more and more food showed up. We were so pleased with our Dim Sum that two diners came over to our table afterwards to ask us what we got... apparently we were making lots of yummy noises and loud exclamations like 'oh wow!' and "this is sooo good!". I'm also conscious of the fact that I clapped my hands like a sea lion begging for treats at least twice. So $36 dollars later (three people, including tip) I had a whole other meal to take home for - my dining compatriots graciously let me take the leftovers. This place just made my favorites list.

I love the dim sum. Turnip cakes, curry squid, all the dumplings & pretty much everything is outstanding. This is by far my favorite place to go for pho. You can't beat their prices & they also have great lunch specials. The menu is very extensive. Occasionally, the service is lacking, but never enough to deter me from coming back.

Best Dim Sum ever, esp for people who do not like pork/beef. I filled up on fried shrimp balls, steamed shrimp dumplings, deep fried crabcakes, turnip cakes and sesame balls! Best I've had even compared to NYC, LA, SF, & Chicago! Yum!

Yelp really needs either half stars, or out of 10 stars. Overall, I'd give this place a 4.5/5 because of the service at times. They sometimes mess up my order even though I'm a regular and order the same things each times. And when it's busy it can be really slow. Most of the time it's good. This is not only a traditional Chinese restaurant, but an authentic one as well, which are the 2 main parts of their menu. To add on to that, they also have dimsum!! It doesn't stop there as they also have some Vietnamese dishes - one of the best tasting Pho in Omaha and probably all of Nebraska. It's great because you can get a giant bowl to share. My personal faves are Steam Shrimp Dumpling, Siumai (pork and shrimp dumpling), and a steamed Custard bun that I usually get for dessert, on the dimsum side. Then for the dishes, their Salt/Pepper Porkchop is always great (tell them to add jalepenos!) I've been frequenting this place now for a few years and it's always my go-to for eating out.

Short version: I **broke my tooth** on a rock (yes, rock) in a dumpling and went through two months of hell trying to get the restaurant to pay for it. Longer version: I loved this place and thought they were the best Chinese restaurant in Omaha. Sure, it's not the best dim sum I've ever had. But it's hard to beat for Omaha. So fast forward to my six or seventh visit and I'm biting into a pork/shrimp dumpling. A god awful sound and pain emanates from my mouth and my girlfriend gives me a look like, "what the hell was that?" The following happens: -immediately tell server what happens. She and the owner acknowledge it and take it off the bill. -I visit a dentist the next day and am told the tooth is freshly cracked. -I then go through 4-6 weeks of back and forth with the restaurant, during which time they accept responsibility and agree to pay my dental bills for the incident -they miraculously manage to start ignoring my calls after they no show an appointment where they intended to drop a check off to me -I file to sue them in small claims and have the sheriff serve them papers. I also call the health inspector. -I quickly receive a call from their insurance agent offering to payout the claim from their end I'm not a "Oh I slipped and hurt my back. Pay me millions!" opportunist. But I expect people to do right by each other, and I especially expect businesses to make right by their customers when they've screwed up. This place completely failed that test and I won't be back.

I came here with a couple from Hong Kong. They introsuced me do dim sum. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. I look forward to going back.

Omgosh! I am so excited that I found this place. Menu selection is amazing. Food is wonderful and served fresh and hot. Serving size is huge and you get the same amount when you carry out. Soups, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and their many types of pot stickers are to die for. Truly the best Chinese restaurant in my opinion.

We were in-town for a night and yelp took me to this authentic place. It's good and authentic! Good service and good prices as we are from KC with good authentic Chinese as well! Gotta go check it out!

Yum!

I'm a fan.

Like ever.

DL

This place just made my favorites list.

vietnamese. american chinese dishes. traditional chinese and dim sum all under one roof. their pho is good (at least for omaha). there is a bit of a language barrier, but the food is good, so just try something different. also, the last time i was there, they had great toothpicks. so there's that.

Or not.

Very authentic Chinese food, unlike any other joint.
